Okay, it is 6:04. I call the meeting of the Mount Vernon Independent School District to order. Let the record show that the quorum a quorum of board members is present, that this meeting has been duly called, and that the notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Opening Act, Texas Government Code, chapter 551. Do I have a motion to certify the agenda? Motion made by Cassie. Do I have a second? Second by Kyle all four 70. All right, let me lead us in a word of prayer. Dear gracious heavenly father, thank you for allowing us to gather here tonight and thank you for just your hand over our district and uh the protection and favor you've had over us and we just ask for that to continue especially as we enter

the illness season. Lord, just please be over our students and our staff and may we speak health over them and be with us tonight as we make decisions. May we act wise um and according to your will, Lord. In your name we pray. Amen. >> I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Honor the Texas flag. I pledge algiance to the Texas. One state under God, one and indivisible. >> No one here to speak. So we will move to um our action items for tonight. And the first one is to consider possible action related to the superintendent retirement agreement. Um the agreement is in y'all's board book, but to summarize what it

is saying and it is saying that on December 31st, Dr. McCulla will um tender his resignation and it has him assuming the role of superintendent ameritus which lays that out. It also gives that depending on how our search goes and whatever role we fill if that changes, both parties are willing to amend that date um based on how that process goes. >> Correct. Yeah. >> Um are there any kind of questions on that? Looking at that, see if I'm not main details, but that's what it is. And that will help us kind of start the process. We got big shoes to fill. We do thank you for all you've done and um >> very grateful for the foundation you're leaving behind. So, >> thank you. >> All right. Do I have a motion to um

act on the superintendent retirement agreement as presented? >> Make a motion. >> Motion made by Josh. Do I have a second? >> Second. Second by seconded by Kyle. All four. All right. That's seven. And then um action item B um also in your board book, it is our proposed search firm. And I do need to big thanks to Josh and Brad. They really came together last week and we knocked out um interviews and calls with uh four different firms. um learned a lot of information about the process and from that uh kind of narrowed down to two visited more had some follow-up questions and um all of us agreed that um and it's in your board book. It's called impact education specialist um or the group that we felt like would most fit our needs

and looking for superintendent. They have a lot of familiarity with Mount Vernon, a lot of connections in the East Texas area. So, as far as, you know, bringing in good quality applicants, we felt like they were the best guys to do it. Their uh proposed uh contract is in your board if y'all have any questions there. They do have a base fee on $10,000 and then a couple expenses add on to that. A consultant expense of 12,000 advertising expense and these are estimated >> 1200,200. Sorry, sorry. >> Thank you. Thank you. Sorry. Good catch. Thank you. um advertising expense of estimated 400 and then candidate travel they have um a thousand which obviously is changeable for what kind of turns out and um and then also they have put in their proposed timeline uh for

the search as well in the board if in your board book they are able to come on our board meeting on February 9th and meet with us and kind of start that process with us and um proposing all goes well um that we could start the second round interviews of the week of April 27th and um hopefully naming a loan finalist around then to >> the first round interviews that first night is the April board meeting that's the regular April board meeting 13th >> so that might be >> something we have to change >> anyways this is just a proposed calendar. >> No. No. Yes. I just want you to realize that. >> But I did want to call it to everyone's attention kind of their timeline that they think is feasible for us in

starting the process and um kind of what's ahead of for us these next couple of months. But any questions on that? Any fragrance? because our dynamics in Mount Vernon are different I think than a lot of districts around and and these people understand how who we are. >> Yes. We felt like of the groups that we they had the best grasp of Mount Vernon. They knew they know us. They are familiar with the area >> and our expectations. >> Yes. And we will lay that out with them even more. That's we'll do a lot of that on the 9th building a profile. there's a whole day that they will spend meeting with um admin staff community really getting input. So um they have a full understanding of exactly what we're looking for and they have

a big network as well. So we're hitting at a to thank Dr. McCulla we are hitting at a good time and being able if we if we do approve them tonight going into mid winter you know there's lots of good things for the timing purposes of it. All right. Any other questions? All right. Um I'm gonna make the um recommendation that we approve impact education specialist as um our superintendent search firm. Do I have a second? >> Second by Linda. All four. That's second. All right. I don't have anything to address in close session anyone at this time. So this 611 and we'll adjourn. >> Okay. >> Thank you guys so much.
