001OSD Board Recap May 28, 2026, Recap of the Olympia School Board Meeting Renee Fullerton (District 3): I'm Renee Fullerton, Olympia School Board Director for District 3 with a recap of the   May 28 Olympia School Board Meeting. Before the  board meeting, at a Special Recognition Ceremony,   the district honored our 2026 National Board  Certified Teachers and recipients of this year's   OSD Employee Recognition Awards. Congratulations  to every one of these outstanding staff members   for the care, skill, and commitment they bring to  their students and schools every day. During the regular meeting, the board recognized June as Pride  Month. The board also welcomed Claire Hartzell,   our new student representative from Olympia  High School, who was sworn into office   and will serve on the board for the 2026-27  school year. We also thanked our outgoing   student representative Vy Le for sharing

002her  voice and experiences these past two years.   The primary focus of the board meeting was  the attendance area boundary study presented   by BERK Consulting. The board received  the preliminary report, asked questions,   and shared thoughts about enrollment trends,  school capacity, and facility use. Throughout   the conversation, board members highlighted that  students must remain at the center of this work.   Board members also emphasized that the boundry review is one important piece of the district's   larger long-term planning process. It's not the  end of the conversation, but an integral part of   the broader work being assembled by the district  to support the district's future. The topic will   be revisited during a June 8 work session and  at a future board meeting with opportunities for   public input before any decisions are made.  The board also discussed potentially having   collective bargaining agreements

003appear  as regular agenda items in the future to   allow for more conversation and transparency. As  always, you can watch the full meeting recording   and review materials in BoardDocs.
