001OSD Board Recap April 23, 2026: Olympia School Board Meeting Recap Gilbert Lamont (District 5): Hello, I'm Gil Lamont with a brief recap of the Olympia School Board meeting from Thursday, April 23. The board held a thoughtful and honest  discussion about Resolution 685, the District's   proposed 2026-27 Reduced Education Program  and Staffing Plan. The proposal was part of the   District's ongoing work to address a projected  structural budget deficit and align next year's   budget with anticipated revenues. As approved, it  includes approximately $3.6 million in reductions   and adjustments, including about 30 full-time  equivalent positions. Following discussion,   the board took action and approved Resolution 685.  As part of that approval, the board gave direction   to the Superintendent with the expectation that  eventually approved budget includes support for   elementary art instruction and family engagement.  The board also entertained, discussed, and passed   an amendment to Policy 1400, Public Comment,  as well as Legislative Priorities for WSSDA. We   know these conversations are difficult because the  decision being considered affect people, programs,   and school communities across our district. Thank  you to everyone who has shared feedback throughout   this process. Your input continues to inform this  work. The full meeting recording will be posted on   the district website and Board Docs. Thank you for  staying engaged with the Olympia School District. Olympia School District: Questions for the Board?
