Do we typically do a second on nominations? >> Actually, you know, we haven't done seconds on nominations and stuff because you just turn around and the person makes the nomination and then we do it. So, we technically we don't have to do a second on nominations. >> Robert, let's do it. Go for it. Congratulations. Got it. >> So, okay. Wait a minute. >> So, I move >> Felita made the motion I mean second >> just following the Robert. But okay, let's go. All right. >> But with that

004being said, I will take over the meeting now. Um, okay. We need election of a vice president. Would someone like to make a nomination for vice president? I'd like to make a nomination of um of Ms. S. >> Okay. AP. >> All right. Uh do you accept? >> All right. Any other nominated? Are there any other nominations? All right. Um nominated. 006carries. 7 to zero. Madam clerk, >> congratulations. >> Thank you. >> All right. All right. So now, since we got that part out of the way, let's go on to our I'm so sorry. >> No, she actually seconded and appointed to show. >> Okay. All right. With that being said, let's go on to our district administrator's report. Dr. time. >> Dr. Vo, good evening board. Here are the events that occurred in the district for the month of April. Down at uh Brown Deer Elementary gifted and talented parent meeting, Mrs. Ray hosted her quarterly parent meeting providing parents with the opportunity to gather and discuss important items related to their children's learning and learn more information about the gifted and talented program. parents were provided with reading materials to help them reinforce their background knowledge of

007Mrs. Ray's talking point uh for the evening and what was really nice is she gave them reading materials and the parents were able to discuss and they were also able to discuss some of the you know the commonalities that they have amongst their children. So it was a really nice um evening activity for all the parents involved and I want to thank Miss Raiki for that. We have a partnership with a National Honor Society for a food drive. Acts of service teach our students the importance of giving back and investing into their communities. And our students at BDE are doing just that in collaboration with our National Honor Society. BDE is collecting items for a food drive. These items will be given to a lo to local families in need. Parent volunteer survey. The homeschool

008partnership is extremely valuable to the success of students. Mr. Griffin and I have met with two uh local parents to create a surve for elementary parents to take to share information related to their interest and availability to assist at the elementary school for the upcoming school year. The survey will be provided to families in the second week of May. Student versus student basketball game. Our fourth and fifth graders squared off against each other in a student versus student basketball game right before spring break. Our boys and girls on the court demonstrated their athleticism and sportmanship. Our scholars in the bleachers showed off their enthusiasm and school spirit, rooting for their favorite team. Brown Deer uh Elementary is a high impact school. I am pleased to report Bramair Elementary has again been recognized by the Wisconsin

009Department of Public Instruction for being an high impact school for the 2425 school year. The award celebrates exceptional efforts of educators, students, families, and school staff in ensuring educational success for all students, especially those amongst those facing economic challenges. The program launched in 2003 and recognizes Title One schools for making significant strides in student growth and in achievement at Brown Deere Middle School. The middle school staff does an awesome job at encouraging student attendance through various incentive programs that have been sponsored this school year. This past week, students were able to use their brown deer bucks for extra uh recreation time at the end of the school day. Our attendance campaign of presence equals progress is working in the middle school. A competition amongst our middle grade uh grades encourage daily student attendance with a

010reward at the end. I am pleased to announce the winners for the nest pizza party. The pizza party was provided to the winning home bases that show consistent daily uh attendance. And congrats to our pizza winners for attendance. Sixth grade was Miss uh Miss Granic's room. Seventh grade was Mr. Mans and eighth grade was Mr. House. Our middle schoolers also show themselves to care about the world around them. They are also doing a food drive and the items that they will collect will be denoted will be donated to the Brown Dear food pantry. Each classroom inside of each grade competes with one another to take over the leaderboard. And our current leaderboard in sixth grade is Miss Shawn. In seventh grade, everyone's tied. And in eighth grade, Miss Morgan at Brown Deer High School, seven

011students performed at the UWM Steel Band Festival. We performed in conjunction with UWM Steel Panthers and both of Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Steel Bands, both the SOA and the Calypso. There were about 50 pan drum players at the event. Uh the featured artist was Victor Provost who is a world-renowned jazz and lead pan musician. Mr. Provost led a question and answer session before our rehearsal. He uh discussed the music theory, technicality, physical responsibility, and the mindset that it took to become an accomplished musician. Dr. Weir, UWM Steel Panthers director, was very impressed with the ability of our young land drum players. uh Sherman Phoenix field trip. Miss Bufort led roughly 35 students on a field trip that was designed to give our students real world exposure to entrepreneurialship, financial decisionmaking, and business operations. Students were

012expected to speak with multiple business owners and learn about startup challenges, funding strategies, pricing, marketing, and day-to-day financial management. We recently held the industry breakfast. Around 20 industry professionals gathered in our CTE workshop to enjoy breakfast with our students, listen to their student presentations, and provided their professional expertise with our students. Thank you to Mr. Bakis, Mr. Lingo, and Mr. Mustafa in high school, and Miss Sullivan in the middle school for all of their hard work with our students. Thank you also goes out to Dr. After preparing our students to speak so passionately about themselves, their goals, and what makes CTE special to them, principles of health science guest speaker, a home uh healthc care nurse, came in to talk to students about her job, the her schooling, and to give a wound vacuum demonstration.

013Miss Key has been announced as the new uh head coach for girls volleyball. Miss Key was previously our head middle school volleyball coach for the last six years, as well as our JV girls uh volleyball team and middle school track coach. Spring sports are are in full swing with uh baseball, golf, track, and boys tennis in session. Now, our DECA students um just recently were nine of them went to Atlanta for the DECA International Career Development Conference. And here more than 25,000 uh high school students, teacher advisors, business professionals, and alumni gathered for the the several day of DECA excitement. And I think they actually left on the 24th and will return on the 29th. Um, we all have been invited to Mr. um, Patrick Schmidt's class. We He's doing some improv classes and scripted

014shows in his classroom and performances will include improv, media, random scenes, and white chicks. The shows are running multiple days in the last hour of the class. And if anybody would like to go, please let me know and I'll make sure that you um are able to get into this class. For our seniors, seniors, it's scholarship time. Those students who have um decided to further their education have an opportunity to apply for several scholarships that will award anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000. Please sees Miss Sparto or one of our guidance counselors for additional details. And I just have a list of all of them. The Johnson family scholarship, Strive 365 Brandon Curry scholarship, Shaun Wild scholarship, Christian C. Ward scholarship, Steve Novac and family scholarship, Brown Dear Community Foundation scholarship application for the education fund,

015Zack Evans music scholarship are just some of the scholarships that the kids can apply for. The district served as the host for 601's job fair on Thursday, April 16th. Numerous school districts from across southeastern Wisconsin participated in this event. Our district was able to hold on was able to hold on the spot soft interviews with candidates for our current vacancies. Building leadership will arrange in-person interviews with their uh committee members in the uh days and weeks to come. The goal is to be fully staffed for our opening of the 2627 school year. Shout out to our own Miss Jackson, director of human resources, the administration from all three buildings, members of the ASC and the booster club who uh held concession who had concessions ready for purchase for our guests. All of you insisted in

016making this a great event. And lastly, this is a reminder to all village residents and browner staff that the community survey for the school district of Brown Deere is open until this Friday, May 1st. We are asking everyone to share your thoughts regarding a potential capital or andor operational expenses the for the district in the very near f I'm sorry in the very near future. Your voice and your opinion matter. And that concludes my report for the month of April. All right. Seems as though we have a couple things going on. >> Yeah. >> For the month of April. Board members, any questions for Dr. Cotton and her report? I >> will just say that please make sure that uh the board receives the information for the industry breakfast so that we can attend. >>

017Yes, definitely. And we we always try to put all of the events on the board planning calendar as well. And so I know that that had been but it did last minute. So you're always and we'll just make sure in the future. >> All right. Okay. With that being said, um this is our regular board meeting and stuff. So we have our uh habitat for uh individuals that would like to be heard from the public comments that uh that we have and it has to be uh something that is part of our agenda to be able to make a public comment. Again, it is a comment, not a question. Uh, in relation to that, uh, you'll have three minutes. Uh, individuals wishing to be heard, state your name, your brown address, uh, in order to

018be able to do that. All right. So, someone monitoring the chat if somebody's on the chat uh that has a comment or anyone in person. Always give it another 30 seconds just in case. Beautiful day outside. Uh but the only bad thing about it is this beautiful weather like this, everything is blooming and stuff. So people with allergies that are real bad or whatever are trying to uh keep their head about themselves. >> All right. Not hearing anything. All right. Let's go on to our uh let's go on to our next items. Approval of our consent agenda. Would someone like to make a motion to approve our consent agenda? meeting March 24th, 2026 regular board meeting. the schedule of voucher payments via check, a wire transfers in the amount of $921,3.74 in the general checking

019account in the food service account including from 10 217 39 46 50 and 80 and the in the April 28, 2020 26 school safety drill update as presented. >> All right. Thank you much, Miss Ashley. Motion has been made. Okay. >> Thank you, Miss M. Motion has been made. Any discussion? Hearing seen none. All in favor raise hand and or I any opposed? See that? Motion carries 720. All right, let's go on to our next item. Items for discussions, consideration, and possible board action. Our business office report Mr. Paul. >> Sure. >> Good evening board. Business office report two items. We did our 2627 health insurance renewal. Happy to say that we have received a zero increase for insurance. Uh our premium for our single coverage will remain at 93118 a month and for her

020family $2,11467. uh meet with Gallagher in the coming weeks to find out what our renewal for our lines of business will be. And then the 26 27 salary increases. We met with the BDBA and had very positive and productive conversations about raises for next year. We expect to be able to come to an agreement sometime hopefully by the end of this week or the end of next week. >> Okay. question for you. The amounts that you said for the policies, is that our contribution or how much the staff pay? >> The staff. >> So 900 >> 31 over the course of the year. >> 931. >> No, excuse me. That's how much I believe we pay per 931 and a2,1467 per month per employee. >> That's how much we pay for. >> Okay. All right.

021>> Which actually think about actually kind of falls right kind of right in line with a lot of >> with a lot of with a lot of places. That's well he said that's what the district pays not the staff member that's >> district >> that's what I'm saying so majority of them so for the for the the cost to the staff for the family plan is what is it >> 66 >> for family little thing was in there around about six fall 160 for single coverage per month and I believe it's 266 for great pay period >> right >> I'm saying so it's great >> right but that's why when he said the 900 I was like wait >> I Nobody everybody be out there with a 10 can. >> Right. Uh questions for Mr.

022uh Mr. Paul. Okay. Let's go on to our next item. Uh item B. Approve a roll call for the resolution authorizing the transfer of funds for the escrow account. So the board of education approved an increase of roughly 1.3 million in our referendum debt 259 the 256 excluded last October. This was to keep the total levy flat in the previous year and we can now utilize those funds for a defeasance or prepayment of long-term debt. Uh and now is the time to complete that process. Uh there's a verd attachment to the document and as shared there it's estimated that it was about 1 $282 million for the defeasance after legal expenses are paid. The recommendation is to apply these funds to the 15.9 million bond issued from the 2018 facilities referendum, which is currently our

023highest interest rate at 4%. The fees would reduce our 2037 payments by $1,295,000. Paying this debt off now will save us an estimated $472,850 in long-term interest costs. Combined with prior year's prepayments, the district is saving over $2 million over the next 12 years. After this defeasance, total long-term debt will drop to about 27.3 million, which is down from 41.1 million in 2122. >> What do you think about that? In five years, ladies and gentlemen, five years doing this and being able to do that. Hence, we'll be uh talking a little bit of more about that as we continue to move forward with some other business to where um people are starting to understand that when we start to ask for something else or whatever the dollar amount is relatively neutral because of all of

024this other fees that we're doing and being good stewards of the money, man. All right. Good job. All right. So with that being said, uh we need to go into roll call vote. >> So is there >> so we need somebody to make the motion? >> So I'm making a motion to approve the resolution authorizing the transfer of funds the establishment of an escro account with respect to and the defense of certain of the general obligation school building and improvement bonds dated July 10th 2018 as presented. All right. You need to go in a roll call vote in order to approve this. >> Second. >> Oh, I'm so sorry. Can I have a second? >> Second. >> All right. Thank you very much, Mr. Omar. All right. Motion made. Seconded. >> Omar. Yep. Roll call

025vote. >> Yes. >> Daniel. >> Yes. Yes. >> Yes. >> It's 720 and a roll call vote at 6:26 p.m. >> All right. >> Question for Mr. Cl. >> You said it's 4% which is our highest. So then it's a variable rate then. Is that what's happening? Well, >> I believe it's a locking rate. That was what out of all of our debt that had the highest of the rest was at 3.5. Okay. >> Yep. Was at 3.5. >> Okay. I get what you what you meant there. All right. >> All right. Thank you very much, Mr. Paul. Relationship to that and being able to do that. Uh, thank you board for approving that for us to be able to uh bring out that 1.3 million in defeasement to be able to cover our long-term

026debt. All right, let's go on to our next items. Item number C, discussion and approval of the David J. Frank contract. Uh, would that be Mr. McIntyre or would that be Mr. Paul? >> So, we have up for renewal for our David J. Frank contract. In fact, it runs from I want to say April through March. >> Yeah. >> So, for example, today we called them in at autographs because they aren't contracted do at this point. >> So, the contract that they presented us with, uh, the base contract is for $108,690. Um for reference 2324 we spent 102,500 and 2425 106,500. So it has been going up slightly each year. Uh this base contract does not include the seasonal color displays which are those pots in front of uh the high school. I think there's

027some in front of the middle school. There's some down here by the baseball field. Uh which would cost $1,650. and then lawn herbicides, which would keep the dandelions and other things off of our lawn, which would be $4,850. Yeah. The total if we do all the base contract plus the two additions would be $115,000 190. Um when we had started discussing this in January, they had come with us or come to us with the proposal for $150,000 base contract because during this last year they realized that there's about 80 hours extra that they hadn't accounted for before because of all of our loan cut. So I was able to go back and talk to them and let them know that we would be going out to RFP if that's the case. You can't afford to

028be doing that much. Um and they $108,000. >> That includes that include all the costs we need. >> Uh it should this one that we did today will probably be about 2500. Okay. Outside of the contract. >> Well, I see one here from and I don't know this is probably Mr. McIntyre's report for um associate invest gas cutting David Frank cost for onetime mole was uh $2,160 >> for today >> but that was the one for today right okay so 21 not 25 I guess my I guess my question for this is is that when we do the when we do the contracts they are they following uh calendar year or they are what what exactly are they following or whatever and stuff because to me it would almost seem as though the thing for

029the grass cutter and stuff like that or whatever should potentially be starting in April regardless of whatever and then and then going all the way until probably like October, November. So, how are exactly are they really setting that contract part up in order to be able to cut? And is it is it actually really weekly or is it as needed or kind of how exactly is that working? Because this one right here, I'm almost like if I would have to come out the one time to be able to do it, it actually should have been part of the contract and the timing for everything. >> We haven't signed the contract though. >> Well, I'm just saying we did the one from last year. So what I'm trying to figure out is is should that be

030something that comes to us way earlier than this like in February or March in order to be able to do it. >> Yeah. This estimate is from January. >> Right. >> So my question is are they even going to still honor this? >> No. I talked to him today. >> That was part of the thing. I didn't realize it wasn't the fiscal year which is why I was like we have time. We were supposed to start this uh at our last board meeting. Then we would have had them in time to cut for today. >> All right. All right. So again, that 2100 is actually kind of in line with almost it's just the same dollar amount that they would have charged us anytime that they cut anytime. Right. Correct. >> How often do they

031cut? >> Uh every week. So they have they have a calendar of services that they gave us right here. So in May four, June's four cuts, July is four, August is three, September's four, October's four, November there's four. >> That's 108,000. >> I do more than that. Everything >> everything do everything. and our performance promoting. >> I did talk with them in case we end up somehow getting a turf field or we have any kind of alterations. They are okay with us saying we're done with this piece of the service now. Uh they also said that if we wanted to go out to RFP next year, they wouldn't have any consequence. We could just say no thanks. So, >> but this three-year contract option or whatever is only going up like 1.5% annually every year,

032which to me, you can't beat that with a stick because, you know, most other places it'll definitely have to go at least up about 2 and a half to 3% easy. Just to be able to keep up with the rate of inflation and rates and whatever. So, going up 1.5% every year to me actually is a no-brainer um relationship to that. Um, Mr. Mr. McIntyre, what do you think in relationship to that? >> Still new. I'm still trying to get everything. Um, I do have hours be honest. Uh, I haven't sat down and talk with a Frank honestly but personally like to see stuff done in house. Um I think uh department once we fully establish could be able to take on all that at a much reduced rate if we get the required equipment

033to be able to uh provide that services. So uh as far as them doing the um uh turf uh weeding, I've yet to see that. I'm not saying they haven't. I I just haven't seen it. Well, they don't they'll just be getting ready to get started trying to get all that stuff done right now. And I also think that once we do a couple other things that we've got as part of a plan or whatever, it it definitely it definitely makes sense. Then when you look from a from a cost effectiveness standpoint, when we look at our our maintenance crew right now, if you were to turn around and throw in a grass cutting, all the rest of that different stuff, we definitely have to hire two or three more people in order to be

034able to do that, plus buy the equipment. So right now and again I haven't I haven't looked at all of the numbers or whatever have you but my guesstimation would it probably cost us more than $108,000 >> equipment alone or whatever maintenance or that and then bringing in like two or three more people to make sure that it gets done because the only thing that they would be doing is cutting grass. I mean even though you know everything is in one footprint there's a lot of grass >> the trim and ariation and everything else like that. But again though, u Mr. McIntyre, by you being new and looking into it, please look into it a little bit further or whatever. Um Quinn, right now we're talking about trying to sign this three-year contract with them.

035But again, there are provisions in there. If we do decide that we want to go in a different direction, we can. So again, I would my recommendation then would be uh Dr. Cotton, uh Quinn and Mr. McIntyre, look at the feasibility of it. I mean, you know, sometimes if you can't do things in house, that's a good thing. But like right now, I just think you know what? It cost us more doing that rather than using this record to go company be able to get this done at this particular time. >> I would like to see the projection six year. So like with your big items that you have to buy and >> you know the maintenance what would it look like over like if two periods of signing a contract because at some point

036it might be more upfront cost than later costs. So, you know, by the time we get to year six, we might actually be saving more money. >> Yeah. Yeah. But again, this is a lot of planning going into this right here. So, again, good idea in relationship to trying to figure out what would look like in six years. So, again, so Paul McIntyre, you guys kind of look into it, but I wouldn't look into it right now, but I I would start trying to look into it or whatever to see what that cost effectiveness would be in relation to that. Dr. You seem like you had something that you wanted to add. >> This is this cost is without the color, the seasonal colors and the herbicides. Correct. >> I want to make sure that

037the board understands that this line here is without that. So, >> so we won't have color or anything. >> We have one time in June. >> May flowers and all the rest of that stuff. walk up. It's the perfect appeal, right? Like she's making when you walk up >> and people see the color when they walk up. >> That would be excellent. >> Yeah. That that would >> Miss Willis just turned around just said. I mean, that might be an excellent project for our students or whatever have you for one of the classes that I don't know if we have any classes that are like that or whatever. Or potentially maybe that would be something that would be good to where the kids are helping to kind of take care of the place. Now, I

038think the only problem would be is the herbicides and stuff like that and stuff and what would that look like relationship for um an insurance standpoint or whatever or liability issue or maybe just watering and planting and stuff like that. >> But how is that going to work in the summertime? >> Kids are here. >> There are children here. There's the summer. >> Yeah. And then we and then we hire kids too during the summer as well too sometimes. So that may be something we can do through the >> it's not busy in the summer for some of the many people here they can support that effort as well. >> Yeah service much. All right. Okay. So uh would someone like to make a motion to approve this contract? This three-year contract? >> Yes. I

039would like to make a motion to approve the 2026 to 28th David J. Frank contract as presented. >> Thank you, M Hallmark. Motion has been made. Do we have a second? >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Phantom. Must have made any other discussion. I think this was really a real good discussion in relationship to potentially other students or potentially us taking that over or whatever. A little bit more research on it or whatever. I think it might be a really good idea. I really like the idea about our kids potentially helping to be able to take that over uh and being able to do that stuff because the other thing too is is like with a bunch of the uh HB.CU or whatever those the ones that have the uh uh ent or the a&m

040behind them or whatever kids get scholarships >> for those or whatever have you to be able to do horiculture and all the rest of that stuff. So you know maybe that is something potentially that we look into. >> All right with that being said any other discussion being said all in favor raise hand and or I any oppose the most carry 720. Thank you very much. All right let's go on to our next item. Uh approval of new hire >> that will be this evening um in place. Good evening board. I seek your new hire that we have inside of the middle school name is Fran Francis Dangle, middle school special education teacher um in replaces Mr. Hudson years experience is 16 and start date is 24 of 46. >> All right, somebody like make

041a motion to approve. Yes. I'll make a motion to approve the hiring of Francis Dagel as middle school special education teacher effective August 24th, 2026 for the 2026 27 school year. >> Second. >> All right. Motion made by Miss Fton, seconded by Miss Min. Any other further discussion? How's it going so far, Miss Ramos? >> Going great. >> Is that all you got to say? >> First hire. I got the first hire of the school year for next year and we'll have more at the next board. >> Okay. All right. Sounds good. Um, that being said, all in favor raise hand and or I. Any opposed? See that? Motion carries. 720. All right, let's go on to our resignations. Dr. Cotton. >> Unfortunately, I do have a resignation for us. Miss Carla Carla Vandenboom at

042the elementary position was a kindergarten teacher. She's been with us for the past 18 years. She submitted her resation on 326 of 26 and cites the reason as personal. >> Wow. Okay. >> Thank you for that descripttor, >> man. She has been for a long time. >> Long time. Definitely. Uh and well, you know what? before we even get started with something like that. You know, we always hate to to lose uh one of our educators that have been with us for that amount of time and all of the uh children's lives that she's affected, especially our kindergarteners um that that have at the most critical part in being able to do things or whatever with our scholars. So, with that being said, someone would like to take a motion. >> Dr. Vo, I'd like

043to make a motion. Certainly appreciate the u the time that Miss U Miss Vandenboom has been with us, but I'd like to make a motion to approve the resignation of Carla Vandenboom as elementary school kindergarten teacher and that is effective June 10th, 2026. >> I thank you, Mr. Min. Motion is made. Do we have a second? >> Second. >> Thank you, Miss Welch. Motion has been made and seconded. Any other discussion? >> So, she's she made this a time to not have any damages and she's finishing the finish the contract. >> Just finishing. >> Yep. All right. Motion has been made and seconded. Uh any other discussion with it? >> No. >> All in favor with raised hand or I any opposed? Motion carries seven to zero. And as we always say, a falcon always

044a falcon. Uh thank you Miss Vandermoon for all that you've done. And we will make sure that we do something a little special for her at the end of the school year. All right. Maybe heard her kids to do a duck duck goose. All right. With that being said, let's go on to our next item. Uh, let's go on to our reading for Hey, hold on. Leola. >> Oh, e here we go. Everything started to flow in with the um uh viola. All right. Approve. All right. Pursuing the ground and safety update. Mr. McIntyre little sir. I'm sorry. Good evening every few things. uh uh the vacant uh ground position. Uh the underfielding uh person that we have is doing a phenomenal job learning uh equipment uh learning um uh how to set up through

045the back fields. He's jumped right in. He's been instrumental in helping us in that as I'm learning with him. So, uh definitely would like to keep this Y back. So, I want to say it on his behalf. It's really just been showing up and showing out. Uh, as far as the spring, uh, athletic, uh, we got our handsful. We have today was just, yeah, with the rain and everything, but we we did get it together. We did have David Frank come out, cut everything. We scriped everything. Uh, we got all the bases, softball, regular baseball, got everything done. So, they're out. We're hosting today. I think there's a soccer tomorrow. So, we're on top of that. was starting to get comfort, get our feet wet. So, we're we're handling all of that >> literally figuratively.

046>> I was on hands and knees trying to find a base before I came here. So, I'm kind of tired. But, yeah. >> So, we're getting it together. It's it's a learning process all of us, but we're getting a group together and getting a team together and it's a work in progress, but we are showing some some chemistry. Uh, as far as the looking at picking up a piece of equipment that not only doubles as a lawn care, but also looking at it's going to probably run about 20 grand plus is uh it does come with snowb blower. It comes with uh chains for the tires for the rear. It's heated. Uh instead of pushing snow, it does uh blow snows, which will help us out a lot because we do have equipment that is

047failing. And as far as the contract goes, in the winter time that just basically focuses on the parking, but we responsible for all the walks all around the whole complex. >> And right now we have a ATB John Deere and that broke down that last blizzard we had and we was counting a pimple, but we got through it. So, I'm hoping that we can pick up another piece of equipment to assist with that and it won't take us much time to uh not only remove snow but also use that as a backup for cutting. So, that's uh on the agenda. So, forget that. Also, um we had some issues. I want to switch gears now. Talk about safety. Uh you may have may have heard about the car fail that we have from one of

048our employees in our department. uh stole his car in the back the south uh middle school receiving area. He did get it back, but unfortunately he's going to have to be total. Uh so I just wanted everybody know to just be vigilant and be careful. Um we weren't able to capture everything on video. So that did help the police that did go into Milwaukee. So that evidence was submitted to Milwaukee Police Department. So I don't know what come about it, but um camera system is working. >> Was this on the weekend? >> This was done during the weekday. Yeah. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Then uh another concern we had an issue with the elementary uh one of the fobs was the door f was open wouldn't lock. I was trying to have access to that.

049uh called the security company and kind of working back. He was kind of doing the I want to say it was the forget what event it was. Yeah, the rum cell and we didn't want to leave the whole elementary door unlocked like that. So that was a concern able to kind of iron out a few things to get that resolved. So, there's a few things in the work yet that we have to get straightened out before the safety goes on that. That's in a work in progress as well. Uh, let's see. We mentioned Dave and Frank had them come out because the ground was looking a little bit rough with all rain. Everything sprouted up. So, they showed up today and doing what they do. And hopefully, uh, now that it's been approved, they'll be

050able to maintain that we can assist what we can as far as the grounds go. And that I guess that's it for me. >> Oh question. Thank you. >> I do have a question. Um last year around this time when we started having a lot of rain um there was an issue that the um neighbors had regarding that creek. >> Yes. Can you creek creek? >> Yeah. Creek. >> So the um there were um I guess debris that was in the the uh and it was pushing towards the neighbors. Were we able to do anything with that yet? >> Mir we had that issue. Yeah, Mr. McIntyre, before you start, Mr. McIntyre already met that neighbor. Yes. Um, she was out there watching. I think the daughter came out and watched him as he was

051moving debris and everything. And now I'll let you finish, but yeah, he's already met that neighbor. He's he familiar. >> But yeah, she she did introduce herself and um the concerns uh about this whole uh wetland. That's what I called it because that's basically what it is, >> you know. I was explaining that a lot of that is flowing from Brown Dear through the facilities >> through their area. So I get what she was saying. It did fog up. We had standing water everywhere. I got here early in the morning. We were cleaning out the brakes. >> Uh the Department of Public Works for Brown Deer saw us. They came back with an excavator, lifted it up, cleared it out. So we're going on both sides. So we're tag teaming. They are assisting. Uh but

052there were it was so much flooding with that rain that came down. We had water everywhere and things just we had logs probably bigger than this table floating. >> Wow. >> So with the crew that we had, the skeleton crew, we had everybody all handled that. We jumped out. We did what we need to do to make it safe. >> The neighbors were not having extra water coming in their basement. So we addressed all of that, protected constantly throughout the whole event until things started to warm up. Then we got more rain. That's why when you said you were from feet wet, I was like, "Yeah, literally and figuratively." >> Yeah. And plus the roof, you have to deal with the roof uh drains as well because with the wind blowing weed, a lot of

053that clogs up. So, we want to change that as well as the ground. So, we had an ample, but >> we got it together. We got it done. >> Thank you. So, the water this way is the water coming this way. >> Talk about the pitch. >> Yeah. The pitch the the pitch in the water coming toward us >> and this is the reason why the we got all the flooding. >> Is that what I'm >> Yeah. Cuz right down here on Sixth Street there, everything's coming this way toward that uh >> that bar down here. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And once those gra get clogged up, water just fans. >> Okay. >> And it hits the elementary school, the wood chips >> and then that clogs up the drains and off. So we have

054to get it early in the morning, you know, as we're dodging around traffic because again >> clogged drains >> cause flooding everywhere, >> right? >> So we were out, you know, early getting wet, getting so not complaining a little bit, but nothing. >> We made it happen so kind of minimize any damage to the facility. That was the main thing. Uh just doing what we can and make sure the water was flowing. Uh we did have some falling old trees, some out cutting and moving stocks and stuff, but we still got our work cut out because that is a issue. So, we're still working on that little by little. >> Thank you so much. >> Yeah. Uh go ahead, Mr. Man. >> Have Have we worked with a company to find out like what we

055need to do to prevent this long term? >> I got to look into that. I'm really not sure. >> Ask >> because the ground is so wet right now. We couldn't get anything heavy out there. they will probably sink. >> So, we got to wait till we catch some dry weather and then hopefully address that. >> That will hopefully clear up a lot of that. And that's the neighbor's complaint. We have a lot of that marsh weeds or what have you that's I don't know if it's just old or dead and it just flows once you get water. Water is amazing once it gets moving away. You don't stop it. So, I guess part of my thing is is that since this does end up being a problem and of course it is happening on

056the school grounds and stuff, but it is turn around and it's affecting our neighbors. Is it a way for us to be able to work with the village with DPW for the village to be able to do something to see if there's a way for us to be able to navigate that or whatever? Because again, our Department of Public Works, they should be able to look at this and be like, "Hey, what needs to happen?" because it's not only affecting the school grounds or whatever, but it's also affecting our neighbors. Yes. So potentially, that's the reason why I'm saying we may need to have a conversation with DW uh DPW uh for the village and see is there something that we can potentially do to uh kind of rectify that or whatever because this is

057not only a a school a school uh district problem, but it's also a village problem as well, too. Because once that happens, like you say, water's got to go somewhere. >> It's going. >> I wish. >> So, yeah. So, so potentially, I don't know, um, Mr. McIntyre, we potentially maybe could have a conversation with DPW >> and and see if there may be something we may be able to partner on to be able to get done in relationship to that. >> The bento. Okay, cool. Excellent questions, everybody. Any other questions for Mr. McIntyre? >> It's not necessarily a question, but it is something I just want to highlight again. And so even though I heard you say the car theft incident happened during the daytime uh a few meetings and I don't think you were

058here yet but just to kind of put on your radar meetings ago we had talked about the lighting back there on that backside. And so I just wondered um if that had came across your desk and if there's any progress on that. just thinking about I mean you know we're in a you know good place now right because it's lighter for longer but as we approach you know >> we know what time that happened >> once the end was around 2:52 >> 252 right around a lot of >> it's right here >> director uh Welch to answer your questions prior to Mr. us leaving. We did address the lighting situation on the back end. We were um we had met with I can't remember who does our lighting, but they were supposed to change do

059only a couple of them to see if it really like illuminated the walk path for them in the back. >> Um they were they were only supposed to change out a couple of them before we went full-blown and start changing out all of the lighting that's at the top of the building. And so that was supposed to be done even prior to Mr. Russ's uh departure >> because we were addressing that because that was remember that was one of the things that students talked about that dark pathway in the back there >> but do we know if it was >> yes that's the part and that's why I was looking at Mr. McIntyre, I don't know if he knows if um that came full circle and that was right before he left. We had talked

060about it. They were coming in, but I don't know if the change of between Russ and McIntyre that actually happened. I got >> Okay, we can talk to Miles. Sure. Cool. All right. Appreciate any other questions, Mr. McIntyre. All right. Let's go on to our next item. Discussion approval of the uh early college credits and start now applications. So, I guess that be you, Dr. Cotton. >> Well, I'm going to introduce Mr. Chatfield to you. You've seen him before. He's come to us uh with his uh with the early uh college credit and start college now applications and he has some that he would like to share with you and I think in your packet you should have information so you can follow along with this his numbers for this evening. So, with that, I'll

061stop Mr. Chap. >> It seemed like yesterday you was here talking to us about his. Thank you, Dr. C. Uh, good evening everyone and thank you for joining this. Um, one of the handouts that I did provide um early college credit tuition costs for fall 2026. Um, some of the schools are still in the process of solidifying their tuition. This is a rough estimate. uh um endc um all the schools had different tuition uh costs. Milwaukee school of engineering is it's uh little different than Milwaukee uh University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. So um so what I came up with was estimated total cost for the fall 2026 early college credits um 11,291 um start college now uh 12,900 and dual enrollment academy 7,92345. Um the reason why dual enrollment academy is pricier because we're talking about

06234 credits. We have one student that's going to be there the entire day at MATC. uh taking classes on those requirements. So that is um why that dual enrollment academy cost is significantly um is is pricier the second handout that I have. >> Oh I I do have a price. Okay. Yes. So okay so I'm looking at it per credit you know 190 uh UDub Milwaukee 145 per credit hour but then is 1,200 for three credits. So that would break it down to like $400. a credit. >> Wow. >> Yeah. I thought all the UDub system schools kind of prices were about the same for some reason. University of Wisconsin Ashkas is uh is a little bit far. >> They try to stay relatively the same. Um but uh yeah, that's that's the quote that

063I got. I >> I have a couple questions then. Do we have a limit on how much we will spend on the program per year? And could we maybe exclude certain institutions if their pricing is significantly more than others? >> No, because they offer different things. So, I'm looking into this and all they offer different courses for the kids to take. So if you eliminate an option, you eliminate a a stack of classes that will be unavailable to them. >> So I'm saying in terms of what our resources are and what we have available, should there be some limitations to it? >> Like what if all of the students who were in the program one year decided they wanted to do Oshkosh, could we afford that? But what if I wanted to go to and

064pick an occupation that's only >> because you and I'm not saying you can't go to that school. I'm saying what are we going to pay for and do we need to place limits on it or is it just whatever students want to do every year we're just going to pay for? Um that's that's a good question and in fact um a lot of students that sign up for the courses uh for some um given a reason uh family commitments they don't actually end up registering for the classes but you're right like that that is a good question what if students choose to want to enroll in Oshkosh specific >> um >> but I think that's fair question for him I think that's a question for us I'm not necessarily asking I'm just saying it has

065to be the question. I don't It doesn't have to answer too, >> right? Well, I think it's probably the bigger question then is actually we have a line item for this in the budget or whatever and just trying to figure out Quinton, what is that? What is that number that we actually have in there? And I think probably the biggest thing would be is if we got to that point and we reached that number, then I think potentially put some caps on it or whatever. You know what I'm saying? So, if we've got like say $50,000 in that line item and if we ended up going over that, then I think that would probably be another discussion um and being able to try to do that or whatever rather than trying to maybe potentially pick

066this thing apart right here because again, we're not being able to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges right now. But I do understand exactly what you're saying like if everybody wanted to do Oshkosh, I think the one for Oshkosh probably is so much more because their whole thing is all about nursing. So I think that their program that Ashkash program is nursing. So that one may be the reason why the credits are so are so much more in relationship to that program um and everything and stuff. So again, I'm just I'm just going off of it because I know what Ashkosh's specialty is. That's the only reason I could even think of for a three credit class to be $1,200 is that they're going through that nursing program. Yeah. you tell us what

067I mean you know like present what courses are available there or do they have the whole gamut of anything that they >> they have like they have like the whole gamut of different like the number one >> Mr. Ch Mr. I don't mean but I'm having Donna pass out to you because he did have a list of the kids. Remember the the handout that you provided to me? It's a list of the kids what they want to take and how much it it costs. >> So these are the kids for next year though. >> Uh for the fall, correct? >> Okay. I thought these were kids for this year >> and they're about 90. >> Yeah, there's um two at Oscar two for Oscar actually. >> Right. So and there's there's a few kids that

068want to take more than one class. several students that want to take three classes. Some students want to take four. >> Yeah. So, but just just because they um sign up for the classes here telling me that they want to take them doesn't mean that they'll actually be able to register for the classes for a variety of different reason. The classes might be full. They may not work in their >> uh so they may not actually um they may not actually end up taking these classes. So this spreadsheet may look different in the fall depending on how many students follow through and actually register and be instantly >> see here there's multiple like certain kids have multiple things on here or whatever. So are we resonating that down to they can take like one or

069two or they can just they can just put down as many as they want but again that doesn't necessarily mean that they are registering for that class. >> Correct. Right. So, I don't think um some of the some of the students listed more than likely will not be taking three classes because it may not um >> work with their sketch. >> Yeah. Even like for this one on here that is for a writing and public speaking and we can we look at what other colleges are offering those classes and suggest that to that student is offering public speaking right here. >> Yeah. I'm saying but offering the alternative versus just saying whatever you want to sign up for. >> Right. It might be talking about going to Oshkosh though for college. So they're saying, you

070know what, I'm getting that jump on it and I'm going to Oshkosh. >> So I'm jumping in it to be able to do it. >> If it goes back to my initial question, do we have a budget for the program? A limit to how much we will spend? I'm not aware of that budget necessarily. >> Can you think we have $35,000 allocated to that budget? >> Okay. >> And I would assume that every year program will grow. It will and it's you know some some it's you know it's I give you others it's more of an interest but this coming bell we have interest primarily in nursing nursing assistant program and MATC very popular because students want to get a head start on getting into CNA program >> and sometimes a lot of these places

071um have reimbursement programs as well that will help them pay for their education. YC more than what looking at this more than almost 70% of the kids that are listening on here are actually MATC. >> Yes. >> Do that. >> Y and I I believe we were talking about considering having something in house around CNA >> CNA program. >> So that would be great. But yeah, just with with knowing what the budget is and knowing how close we're getting, that's where we may need to start to do some more administration of the program, offering alternatives, suggestions, etc. So that we can maximize as many students as possible as the program continues to grow. >> That's a good point. But I did hear that if you took a like if you were going to take a

072class at Marquette and then you applied to Marquette, you actually get like a edge because you've successfully taken a course at your institution. >> Yes. >> Miss Ashley, let's go ahead. Miss Ashley, you were talking. >> I would just be interested in some trend data too because I know you shared numbers for the number of students who, you know, signed up last year. we got this information >> but yeah just the trend data just to see just how much >> right >> the the utilization right you know >> because I know we had a lot of numbers last year people said that they were doing it but then when we actually got the real true number it was like half >> so again you know I know we're having a nice robust conversation about it

073and Mr. Robinson's actually brought up a lot of great points in relationship to that or whatever have you know uh Mr. Paul, we have a line item in the budget >> uh for this or whatever have you and stuff. So, I think this is like one of those things we might need to look into. >> Yeah. >> A little bit more to just kind of figure out kind of where we're at because again, this sheet right here is just saying, "Okay, hey, this is what I want to do." It don't necessarily mean that this is what they're going to do >> uh in relationship to this stuff. So, again, that may be one of those things that again like u Ashley said, "Hey, let's look at some trend data or whatever have you." Uh Mr.

074Paul, what did we actually do if you have it up there? What did we Well, what dollar amount did we put in that line item for something like this? >> So, we're kind of right where we're at. >> Right. And but again, >> last year we didn't >> we didn't even Yeah, we did half of that or whatever. >> No carryover. >> Carry over. But no, we don't carry that over. We don't carry it over again because we've got variances in different line items. >> Yeah. >> So, that's usually like 10%. So, >> but I do want to say thank you because this is a little bit more >> information this year. >> So, thank you for >> keep learning every day. >> Thank you. Thank you for that. Just a little bit more information.

075>> Go ahead. Continue on. We Sorry we we interrupted you. >> No. Um that's that's actually all I have. So, you know, any other questions? I'm happy to ask them. Any other questions? Uh well, with that being said, would someone like to make a motion? >> I would like to make a motion to approve the early college credit program and start college now applications as presented. >> All right. Thank you, Miss Robinson. Motion has been made. Do we have a second? >> Second. >> All right. Thank you, Miss Min. Motion has been made. Second. Any other discussion? I just want to say that you know what I I hope a lot of our students uh actually take advantage right >> of this or whatever have you and stuff because uh once they actually end up

076at the university itself or whatever it's a whole different ball game and if we can help them uh get that a head start in relationship to that um within our budget parameters and stuff love it. All right. Thanks, sir. >> All right. Oh, so with that being said, all in favor raise hand and or I. >> Any oppose? Any see? Motion carry. Seven to zero. Thank you, sir. >> Yep. >> All right. So, now you get to go home, huh? All right. Sounds good. All right. Let's go on to our next item. >> Appointment of school board member for the season one. I think didn't be um Miss um Min. Didn't you do that last year? >> Um did I do one year? >> The the member for the C of one. Was that was

077that you or was it Miss Ashley that did the C of one border patrol? >> I did that. I do it every year. I think >> you do it every day. >> That one day thing. >> Yeah, one day thing or whatever. Um are you still interested in Are you still interested in doing it or is there anybody else interested? >> I can still do it. >> All right. Anybody else say you're interested in it? >> Is it the one back there? It says annual convention. >> Yes, the annual convention. But again, she goes for that one day for that uh for that. >> Yeah, you can't substitute. So, whoever >> So, whoever it is person that can go, >> that's someone. All right. So, no one else. Uh >> we haven't had any other

078representation where we've um you know we've held any of the the the um leadership roles but >> June Monday in April >> first I think it's June the email out today. I just got this today. That's why I stand alone. >> And as soon as decisions made, I'm going to share it with them. >> Okay. So, so Miss M said she would >> email one, you're saying? >> I think it's June 9th. >> All right. Anybody else uh interest this? >> All right. Uh okay. We'll make a motion to approve uh Miss Bon uh to serve. Would someone like to make that motion? I I'll make the motion >> for making service res. I don't have my sheet. >> Okay. For the motion to approve the appointment to serve on the CIA one board of

079control for the annual convention of the school board delegates pursuant to Wisconsin state statute 116. motion to approve the appointment of Mak to serve on the season one board of control for the annual convention of two more delegates pursuant to Wisconsin state 116.02 O2 parent one parent A >> Miss Ashley. Motion made second. >> Second. >> All right. Thank you, Miss Hall. Motion made a second. Any other further discussion? Do proud. All right. All in favor raise hand and or I oppose. Motion carries. All right, let's go on to our next item. Uh appointment of school board committee assignments. Now, I I have a question. Um, and again that SWSA legislative and that wisby to to me they all are the the same. >> So the thing is is that I've been asked to be

080on the S SWA co-chair elect board member. >> Well, there you go. If you've been asked or whatever. Okay. Cuz what I was thinking is is this because sometimes in those mornings cuz that SWSA meeting is like 7:30 in the morning. So like again would somebody like to be able to double team on that or whatever be able to serve to do the WBY or or SWSA and stuff because generally majority of the time information is the same. There's not a big difference except for the wise one when we get ready to go get towards more convention time and uh election time. There's a little bit of a difference in relationship to that. So um again so if we wanted to be able to be able to continue to have them split that's fine. or

081would someone like to be able to potentially we could do it and people could kind of tag team that one. >> Um let me see what happens. Um >> again that was just a a break down. We can do it. We can still keep it separate but I know you always have issues about the 7:30 in the morning sometimes. >> Yeah, I have a problem with the 7:30 but I know that if I'm not on they do send a um >> it's webinar. It's not a webinar but it's a >> they send a um a recording and they also have notes. >> So those are the notes that I've been sharing with the team. >> Um also Mr. Paul is on that session and oftent times I think Dr. Cotton as well. So, the three

082of us are on there. So, I wouldn't need any help, but maybe um if someone can work with um you know, director Ashley and maybe on times when her schedule is a little busy maybe her was doing the WY though. >> Yeah. Oh, she do Meredith was doing WSY. >> Okay. >> So, Meredith, you want to continue to do WSY, >> right? All right. All right. So, All right. So, with that being said, oh man, this is starting to get me down. >> All right, so we got Wisby, we got SWSA. Uh, Lyn, are you still willing to do parking rack? When is our next parking rack meeting? >> Uh, next week, Tuesday. >> Yeah. And again, I I always just case. All right. So, um All right. So, would someone like to make a

083motion to approve the uh Miss B min serving on the Southeastern Wisconsin School Alliance SWSA legislative committee? >> I'd like to make a motion to approve Director Min serve on the Southeastern Wisconsin Schools Alliance and legislative committee as a representative for school district in Browner for the 2627 school board calendar. >> All right. All right. So, we've got a motion. We got a second. >> Second. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Mr. Robertson motion made a second any further discussion and see all in favor raise hand and or I any oppose the motion carries n 7 to zero so miss would you like to make this next motion as well too I'd like to make a motion to approve myself association of school boards committee as a representative for the school district of brown deer

084for the 2627 school board calendar year >> all right a motion has been made by Well, for Miss Wells was someone like to say. >> Thank you. Thank you very much, Miss Megan. Most made a second. Any further discussion? I love when a person can nominate and move themselves. Good job. >> All right. That's That's a lot of power right there. All right. All in favor raise hand and or I >> Oh, it's separate. >> That's separate. All right. Any opposed? You see none? Uh, all right. Miss Welch, you uh your motion is carried. >> All right. And so now we need to have a motion to appro approve uh Miss Hallmark for park and break. >> Okay. >> I'd like to make a motion to approve Director Hallmire to serve on the parks and

085recreation committee as a representative for the school district of Brown Deere for the 2627 school board calendar year. >> All right, sounds good. Motion has been made. Uh do we have a second? >> All right, thank you very much F. Motion made to say. Any other further discussion? Hearing see none. All in favor of raise hand and or I. Any opposed? Hear see motion carries unfree. 720. All right. Let's go on to our next item. Uh approval of the older reading the second reading. Now I think M. Robinson, did you have a question about the first read? Do you have a question about one of these? roughly. >> All right. Were we able to get any clarity? >> We would follow sim similar policy to our fundraising policy where the principles approve it. We get

086a month progress report. Uh we'll also add language to the handbook. We will outline so employees knows how that works. uh if we get a lot of activity there are websites we can use like class community where you can create a campaign online you can share a QR code you can share with the public they scan the code they can donate for your organization and at the same time that also hooks up to our checking account >> straight to our account >> yep and gives us uh daily weekly monthly reports so that we can see make sure everything's board So for for clarity, we will permit individuals to do it as long as they have the approval and they're providing those weekly updates. >> All right. Was there any any other items that were earmarked

087in relationship to the policies for the second reading? That was the only one. Okay. Well, so I'd like to make a motion to approve the second reading. >> Yes. I would like to make a motion to approve the second reading of the Neoli Neola policy revisions as presented. >> Thank you very much, Miss Hall. Power motion has been made. Do we have a second? >> All right. >> Thank you, Miss Bacon. I mean, Miss Welch, thank you very much. All right. Uh, any other further discussion? Let me be great today. Um, and one of the policies. Uh there was a discussion about the board will not be responsible for it was in one of the fundraiser and I was trying to um understand why it said the board versus the district. Do you know which

088one? >> I'm going through right now. >> There's a student fundraising just anything purchasing the crowdfunding. And you said it development guidelines >> instructions handbook enter activities. >> No, you're just looking at the summary. I'm talking about for the actual policy. >> You can have to let you know. >> Yeah. and then we can follow up on our future for you. >> Okay. Uh Okay. We've got school support organizations, accountability, site fundraising, proud funding dispersements. So you talk about 60 you m. computer will be determined. >> So is it under It's under 6608 though, correct? >> 668. >> Yeah, it's a school support organization, accountability, oversight of fundraising and crowd crowdfunded dispersements. So it would have to be 608 6608 for the oversight of fundraisers. Yeah, sorry. It just says it provides additional calendar. It

089was strongly recommended, but it doesn't say anything. >> The board in that little blur. There's a Yeah, there's a few >> right 66. What's that? 668. >> I got five crowdfunding. I don't see 668605 go 6610. >> There are two attachments and it's the overview and resources for 351. >> special update skill support policy 6608 in there >> on the website >> on board docs is one of the attachments. Yeah. >> No, I mean I see it in here. What I'm saying is I don't see it on our policies on the website is what I'm saying. Oh y 6605 to 6610 >> say we haven't yet got >> it's okay gota >> so does it say anything about the board being involved in it because it clears around that >> and I can get Dr.

090the proceeds about the exact language and why they put it that way. We can always um >> to be under school support organizations accountability oversight of fundraiser and crowd crowdfunding dispersements. now. What are you um what specifically are you inquiring about? >> She was trying to say that the board somehow the board was involved in that we had to monitor that but >> No, not that we had to monitor it, but it was saying that you had no responsibility. wouldn't have responsibil >> this policy states that all funds raised through student >> I'm not telling you that that's the policy >> okay because it's brand new it's a brand new thing >> so it's going to be in the draft >> so it's going to be in a draft >> right because it's not it's

091policy. It's something that we're talking about potentially approving. >> So, it's just something that >> they're putting forward. >> That's not >> Well, I don't understand. >> This new policy provides additional >> accountability for fundraising and crowdfunding activities. It is strongly recommended >> but not required for adopt. So, >> yeah, that was that little line. >> While we're looking while we do this, because we still got to do another reading for this anyway, right? So can we huh >> this is the second >> this is the same this is last >> this is the second reading right this helps protect the integrity of school financial operations now you could approve and I could even pull that out >> if it says the board is the board has oversight or is in the middle of it

092then yeah we can always turn around and say that we we won't approve 668 or that portion of it but we can approve the rest of them if we don't have any issue >> evidence in there. >> Hold on. Hold on. Let's Let's let Miss Robson kind of tell us exactly what it is that she's looking for. >> C6608. I don't know that. I got to go back to because I was reading through all of them so quickly. >> I got to figure out exactly which one it is and where it is. So that's why I say you guys are arguing a point that hasn't even been made. fundraising. Write it down. >> Uh district supported student activity accounts. That's the only other thing I can even think about it being is the uh 6610

093something that we potentially would have had where they have been because they were talking about 6608. So I don't know how close that would have been. So um >> yeah oversight of So >> if it's something that needs to be corrected, bring it back. >> Can we bring it back? Okay. So let's I would say my thing would be is to approve it right now. And if there is a component that's in there, we can always come back and say that you know what, we don't want we do not we don't approve this piece of that of the old policy. Again, these are just recommendations. We don't have to do anything if we don't want to. Okay, >> I think that those fundraising ones actually >> Well, I'll say this. Let's go ahead and go

094somebody uh >> I think all >> Miss Ross new. Miss Ross, uh Dr. Kai, you guys try to figure out exactly where it is. I I bring uh Quinton in the middle of this thing and just bring it up and if there is something that you guys see that is supporting that or whatever, bring it to us at the next board meeting. U but my recommendation would be we go move forward and approve now. But again, if there is an issue with one of them, we can always just come back and say that you know what uh we'll make like to make a revision because right now we're kind of spinning our wheels right now trying to find it the draft form and everything. >> Mr. Robinson, would you agree? Yeah. >> Okay. All right.

095Would someone like to make a motion to approve a second reading of the policy? >> You want me to make it again? >> Huh? >> I did already and it was seconded. >> Okay. All right. So, that's what we're in the discussion. Yeah. >> Okay. My fault. Okay. So, all in favor? So, I I am so sorry. It was Miss Hallar approved it and Miss Welch seconded it. I I apologize. >> That was just a a nice question or whatever that took us all the way this way. think to um >> move to her favor. >> So with that being said with uh all in favor all in favor raise hand and or I >> any opposed and you see no motion carries unanimously 7 to zero but again with that one caveat that Miss

096Ross and Dr. Cot that Mr. Paul will turn around and look through this and find out. Okay, if there is anything that says about the board being responsible for that. All right. Uh now with that being said, uh number eight, SWSA and legislative updates. I know that uh Miss Megan has been sending stuff out. Uh I don't know, does anybody Miss Megan, do you like to go through it or does anybody have any questions for Miss B? Because she sends it out to everybody. >> I can make a quick little comment. I think in that in that piece, it's kind of interesting that there's an article called why can't Wisconsin um hang on to its teachers? And you know, I have a kind of nexus to the research I'll talk about later, but um the

097things that they talked about was teacher pay, youth behavior, u kids having anxiety, emotional and mental health challenges. And then when you compare Wisconsin to the other six um Midwestern states, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Indiana, we are the lowest on the morale index. So, you know, we have work to do. >> Sh, you know what? when you sit there and look at that, I always whenever I see data like that or whatever have you, I always think about things being skewed, especially about who who was the ones that are actually that were filling out filling this thing out >> uh and everything and stuff because I just like >> you show me one thing that says one thing, I'll show you another one that says something different. >> They they looked at the

098report that came from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. There was another. So they did have kind of a a bunch of different places that they ended up getting this this information from. The RANs Corporation also from the Wisconsin. This is a little data though 2023 Wisconsin youth risk behavior survey. But maybe these are questions that, you know, concerns that we may have as a district that may we may want to kind of hone in on so that we aren't losing our teachers because we already know that they're like the lowest one of the lowest paid in the state. So, if we can kind of hit some of these things and figure out some wraparound programming to kind of help our teachers to um with the students in partnership. I just thought that that was

099kind of Interesting. Um other than that, the um a a good number of the refer referendums have gone through. However, um there's a a lack, you know, even though a number of them have gone through um people aren't happy. >> Yeah. They don't have that satisfaction or, you know, they're just not interested. And I don't know if it's because, you know, a lot of folks are baby boomers and they don't have, you know, children anymore in the school district. I'm not sure what that that forecast looks like or why it happened. Um, however, that's another consideration for our district. You know, I know we've sent out information regarding the referendum. We're working hard. We just have to continue to be cheerleaders and um, you know, and and and focus, you know, let people know that

100the focus is on the children in our district. So, >> right. And I think that um Oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead, Ashley. I would really like to set aside um not tonight but at some point moving forward a real discussion about referendum and how we're messaging it and just kind of taking a look at how other districts um what their referendums are, how they have been laying out what and how we can learn from and take from moving forward with ours, right? Like I think >> there's just so much for um us to take from and learn from as we are moving with ours. I just feel like I just Yeah. >> when you looked at the results from stuff from those elections or whatever, the ones that actually really failed were the operational ones.

101the facility, majority of the facility ones went through except for the one where they were talking about they wanted 135 billion to redo like a middle school that was already there. >> A new school, >> you know what I'm saying? For a middle school that was already there and would declined enrollment, but the other ones actually were the ones that were actually asking for the operational uh referendum part, not the facilities. Uh and then they were kind of close. And then I know that the company that the companies that we hired >> are going to be taking us through a bunch of those different things. We had to wait >> us to look at all of these districts in the surrounding area particularly these districts that are you know adjacent to us >> that was

102like >> I I will share if I may thank you for that uh segue I I would like again I said it in my notes that that community survey closes on >> that's a good one that is a great survey >> we are right under almost 500 responses they say toward the That's good. >> Toward the tail end of it, it starts to pick up. I asked Katie to put out push out another reminder to everybody in in regards to it. Uh PSI, I think probably weekly we um they're in contact with me. We just finished a promotional video that we will be uh putting out there that had a number of different individuals, some students, staff members, community members, all speaking, you know, very favorably about the district that we plan to promote. Um,

103and then school perceptions is the one that's doing the survey right now. And they plan to come and share with you, you know, all of the information in regards to the survey. I also have a timeline that just lets me know that I need to share it with you. It shows that we're right on track where we need to be in regards to this referendum. We're not ahead of ourselves. We're right on track. >> That timeline that we approved that we approved with PS. So, so I would I would like to see that timeline as we're progressing through it. Um, also you said they're contacting you weekly. So, if you could add that maybe to your report out to us, that would be helpful as well. >> Yep. I know one of the things we

104were actually really waiting for was the the elections to be over with or whatever and then we were getting ready to go full mode into our uh motion of referendum. So, we just wanted to wait till after after the April elections to be able to uh get ready to move that forward and stuff. So, we're right there with like I said before with the timeline that we approved when we did that with PSI. So, we technically we actually should be getting ready to meet with them. Is it next month? >> We should be. Yeah, >> we should be getting ready to meet with them next month. >> I know. We're definitely meeting with school perceptions because they would like to um and share the survey results with >> And did everybody get a chance? Did

105anybody else get that survey? >> Did you guys see Man, those are some excellent questions because you know what I loved about it was was that it was also still kind of focusing on people that didn't have students in the district and if if they did want to support something, why wouldn't they want to be able to support, right? And I just think it was I think it was worded really well. I think the questions were were were really good and to the point and and I think once we get some of these results back and we've got 500 responses back already, which is actually a pretty good number when we start to think about Brown Deer, >> I think that's a pretty good number. And if there is a a certain pattern or trend,

106you know, we always said we were going to do town hall meetings when we started to be able to do this or whatever. So, we'll be able to do those and ask questions. I sent a uh B I don't know if everybody saw but I sent the thing uh to the Brown women uh junior women's club saying that you know to be able to talk about a little bit more about the state of the district and where we get ready to move and I sent that out to them to say to be able to come and have a conversation with them in relationship to it as well too and I'm hoping that they are actually u uh completed the survey as well too and if not but make sure that we turn and I'll make

107sure that I take it with me to be able to uh share that with them as well stuff. So, >> it's on the website, right? >> The survey survey went out. >> I know that went out via like a copy, but it did not put on the website. >> So, >> you didn't get one. You didn't get >> I didn't I didn't >> You didn't get it in the mail. >> I know. >> That's how I got mine. >> I got mine. Are we supposed to >> Yeah, you should got it like last week. >> Even even staff members, those that don't >> they got them as well too. >> Yeah, I don't take a look again in your sometime, you know. We cover like It was about this big. It was like junk like

108a cat. >> She didn't put that. >> Definitely. I'll make sure that there's another code that we can send it to you if you did get it the hard copy through the the mail. >> I didn't see it, but yeah, it could be somewhere else. what he said. >> Are we finished? Uh >> I just want to piggy back really really quick um to been on the same brave wavelength. So I just want to highlight that um as we talked about in in March. This is a highlights of educators created stress and focusing on reversing chronic stress cycles for school leaders. So it is a it is an ongoing issue and concern for people and the only thing I'll add to that is really my thought about how we can sort of promote wellness in

109May since May is mental health awareness month. So it might be a really nice opportunity to be able to do some things obviously with the student body but also with again looking at wellness and so I'm sure you know dynamic people services will be willing to period work perfectly. >> Okay. And and so what I will say additionally um is that the convention obviously the annual convention is in from January 20th to the 22nd of next year and but they've already put out a call for proposals um at the beginning of this month and so if there's something that you feel like we might want to highlight it be a wonderful opportunity I think. >> Definitely. And then finally another uh quick note is that they are also Was also accepting resolutions for the 2026

110delegate assembly and the deadline is September 15th. So this includes bylaw amendments and decoupling proposals. So again just some thoughts for us as a dual reg. You know what? I love that. Thank you um for bringing that out for wellness for the teachers as well. So um that's definitely piggybacked on to figuring out what was happening um with the teacher. Um I also like it would be nice I mean we have all of these educators here. it would be nice to us to do um some type of presentation in one of these schools that has a um majority minority school district as a minority majority school district and I think it would be you know really really good for us to um be able to share um some of the um systems things that we

111do here at at Brown Deer or even maybe even look at some of the system things that we're thinking of changing or implementing technology here. I think that would be very valuable for other schools given the changing demographic of the state. >> Thank you. >> All right. And then park and rec. >> All right. Uh we go on to our item number nine, our board planning calendar. Uh May 6, the middle high school choir uh concert in the MAC. Uh the 9th and third the 3rd through eighth grade spelling be dang. Uh the 12th uh the special board meeting the 13th middle high school choir uh concert in the back. And then the 15th high school prom Zufari Conference Center. And then let's just go off to the 20th high school and Kai Pops concert.

112And then after that, the 25th is Memorial Day holiday and then the rest we'll be talking about in June. All right. So with that being said, would someone like to make a motion to adjurnn? >> All right. We have a motion. Do we have a second? >> All right. Motion made second it. All in favor raise hand and or I. Any opposed? See that? Motion carries 720. And I call this being adjourned at 7:42 p.m. Thank you very much everybody. Enjoy the remainder of your evening. >> All right. >> Good night. >> Please look at your I'm about to send you an email to the answer to question. I did have a response about the lighting. Okay. So, it seems like the ground had been too wet for them to install and they're supposed to

113come Friday to see if they can actually do it.
