For those that are in the chat, it will be monitored uh to see if someone would like to be able to make a statement. And if you're here in

On Monday, March 16th, our National Honor Society chapter went to Feeding America to sort donated food. Shout out to our 17 students who participated and Mr. Taylor, their advisor. Wrestling success. This evening, I would like to introduce to you your 2026 Division 1 state qualifying sectional champion wrestling team. University, Maximus, James, Brody, Payton, Elijah, Cole, Blair, Henry,
009and Seth for phenomen for a phenomenal season. We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors and know that you made the entire district proud. I'm going to turn it over right now to Mr. McGregory, who's going to come up and assist with a special presentation for our wrestling team. Mr. McGregory, I sit there thinking about it, but was it five years ago? We were actually in combination wrestling team. We didn't even have our own wrestling team. Yeah. It was like five, six, seven years ago or something like that. We were partnering with was partner with Vincent. That's it. >> Yep. But now look at us now. >> Yeah. What's funny about that? our very first um wrestling meet, I prepared for like about an hour worth stuff and it took all 10
010minutes just that >> and to see where we are now because I remember one of my challenges to coach Gladney and Coach Haye was make me put you in the fieldhouse. Then he comes and gets me one day was like, "We're ready, Gerald." I'm like, "No, we're not. We're good. We're good. Come look at practice." I go up to the uh middle school up area. I don't know what you call it where they was practicing at. And I was like, "Oh my god, I guess it's time to put you." And um now fast forward to this year, we've sent eight kids up to state um for individual. And then the week following that, the whole team got to go because they won the sectional based off what they did in individual. And it's been a
011tremendous journey uh supported by the whole community right there. We got plenty of coaches, volunteer paid, um dedicated spouses. I don't want to miss nobody. Miss Hay for sure. She she does a lot for the program and then the banks because it started with the youth program and but um blowing that up if you will created a real strong foundation and then um a lot of those kids decided to come to Brown Deer at Brown Deere and Maxim Hayes being one of the foundational pieces along with his cousin Mai um Kai Rogers um were two key pieces and um their dedication kind of set the tone because What most people don't know is these young folks will get up four or five days a week, come work out in the morning, 5:00, hitting weights and
012year round dedication. And then what they do is in turn they give back to the youth by showing up and helping them in practices and whatnot. So that's kind of was the foundational piece. So just so proud of these guys, these young ladies as well. Let me not forget the young ladies. So true. >> Um, we started this year with our own girls program. So, we're trying to build that as well. And we have a lot of bright young stars coming up. We got two Hey girls. We got a sophomore in Elaine and we got a freshman in Olivia. And then a younger sister, couple years away by her. She's really good. Hopefully, she'll be coming up. And here we are. And so, at this time, I would like to call up Coach Haye to
013help assist and hand out the medals along with uh Dr. Beetle for a welldeserved honor for our wrestlers. >> All right. Take some pictures. >> James, this is your school. No one right here. >> Hey, so if you already didn't know, the girls actually helped us win that uh win our duel at state. that was actually was able to compete with us and Elaine Perlers not here right now. Some of the wrestlers are not here right now, but we would definitely give their medals to them when they we see them. Coach Graves was a big part of the uh program as well when he joined with us uh last year. Uh he he really was the one that was helping train the big boys. I wasn't trying to wrestle with the big boys all day.
014And then also Coach Takis, he was uh one of our youth uh coaches and he also stepped up for the middle school and he came in and he was helping at the high school level. But also I want to just uh say congratulations to my youth kids. We have eight state qualifiers that's going to be taking off. >> We have about 40 kids in the program right now and that's not including the kids that we have at Brown Deer. So, can y'all please stand up and all my nephews? We also have a lot of students that actually travel from Sussex Hamilton or Washington. Uh they also travel all over the all over uh Wisconsin just to come train with us because we are a freaking legit program. And uh if I just want to say
015I say again thank you guys again. I appreciate all the support that you guys give us and uh and my wife as well. Stand up and come over here. >> May come to be here. He uh helps from Mesmer and then coach Glad to long needed vacation down to visit this. >> So we we in the we in the building. We make it right now. So long continue to get y'all support. I'm telling you right now we gonna make him proud. You guys want to come? >> Just come in. Come in. Come in. Come in. Come in. Come in. >> You're so tall. >> Okay. >> Over there. Oh, wait. Yeah. One more. Can we move that chair? >> Yeah. And I do want to say, you know what, I had came up on a
016couple of those weekends or whatever for for some of the other wrestling matches and stuff like that. And people from all different um cities and and programs, they marveled on how our fieldhouse looked, how everything was set up and everything, how we ran everything like that or whatever. All I got was kudos from from parents that I talked to and stuff in relationship to that and stuff. So, man, that's just, you know, that's just a tribute to the Gerald, to the coaches, to the kids. And I saw more of our high school kids actually helping out um refereeing everything else, keeping scores and everything else for the junior's program. And I was just like amazed at like how many girls, how many young ladies we had that were in the program and being able to
017do this and stuff. So, again, whatever the board can do to help support this endeavor right here, man, we'll definitely try to do that. Like I said before, it was it was some years ago or whatever that we didn't even have enough people to have our own wrestling program. We had to partner with another school in order to be able to do it. So now you turn around and you look at us now and we've got one of the top programs in the state. So man, that's >> Congress. Also, I was wondering if we could get a send off for the elementary school >> if we do a send off for the elementary school kids on uh Thursday. >> Sorry, >> Thursday. >> Wednesday. >> Do you want to do what? >> What? >> Bring
018them on up. >> Let's go. Bring them up. Hey man, my man right here. I think I can take you, dude. Great. So, right now we have two state champs, state champs. We have Norah and we have Jackson Moore right now. She's going for her third state title right now. Let's go. Uh oh. Right. >> We also train as well. >> Wow. >> Everybody chose the smaller ones to the front. Yeah. All right. Say Oh, wait. >> Oh, go. >> Where's mama? Hey, >> she don't want to get up. >> Say cheese everybody. >> All right. If y'all want this dude can take me, man. >> I had a hard time getting back up. Appreciate you guys. >> Right. building for my guest. Okay, >> just just a little bit. >> All right. Um, I
019would also like to thank our boys basketball team for a great season of Cougs. >> Yes. >> Made the playoffs, but we're stopped short in the sectional game against Kell Marine. Thank you to all of our seniors, Jaden, Cody, Michael, Marcus, Bond, Justin, Jaden, Jordan, and Terrence for leaving an all on the court. We also wish you good luck as you pursue your dreams beyond our browner walls. The district of Browner is rooting for you for your continued success. Thank you to Coach Longley for a wonderful first season. We look forward to what the future holds. A special congratulations go out to Hannon Maris and Mozique who earned an impressive impressive second place finish along with their achievement. They each received $500 scholarship and will be advancing to the state competition. I would like to thank our booster club for their commitment, passion, and help to make sure no student or family would go without food. Your partnership with this effort is greatly appreciated. The school district of Browner extends its sincere thanks to the Brown Deer Junior's Women Club for their continued partnership. Due to a scheduling conflict, they
022are unable to present their information in person this evening, but shared sorry but shared information that uh shows their continued support of our students and the district as a whole. We are grateful for their recent donation of 400 dental hygiene kits to the district nursing department, including 400 toothbrushes and toothpaste kits. Additionally, the organization provided new binders for our high school choir, ensuring a professional and uniformed appearance during public performances. Not only do students benefit from the generosity of the uh Brown Dear Junior's Women Club, but our staff does as well. The club feels wish list for classroom needs twice a year. We appreciate the club's giving spirit and look forward to our ongoing partnership available to our students and staff. And finally, the administration would like to wish all students, staff, and families a
023wonderful and relaxing spring break that will begin this coming Monday, March 30th through Sunday, April 5th. We look forward to seeing everyone when school resumes on Monday, April 6th. And that concludes my report. >> Is that all that happened? What? That's it. >> That's it, >> man. Look, we got do we got to do better, man. All got thing I got to say is is man, this is wonderful. Wonderful news. Uh man, our scholars, our student athletes, they are just doing our coaches, teachers staff are doing a wonderful, phenomenal job and being able to for our young people to be able to be exposed to it, experience it, and and man, and really just taking off and being able to do this. And wow, again, we I'm at awe right now and stuff just the
024the breath of of things that our kids are doing. Even going back down to forensics, I would have had them here and stuff or whatever had. >> Yes. >> I mean, so >> again, man, wonderful, wonderful job, Dr. Cotton, for you and your team. Uh, and I would I would love if you would be able to take that information that you get, put it on our website or whatever for everybody for our people in our community to be able to hear some of these wonderful things that are going on or whatever and just to make sure that that just kind of goes out to every everybody or whatever and stuff because I think everybody in the village of Brown Deer needs to be as proud of everything that's happening as we thank you very much.
025Anybody have any uh questions for Dr. Cotton or any comments? Yes, >> the team does the team does a phenomenal job and that's inclusive of every employee and all the students that are here. So, I just am the one that gets to report it out, but they do all the work. So, it's wonderful. >> Like we always say, it starts at the top, though, right? It trickles down. So, yeah. So, thank you very much. All right, let's go on to our let's go on to our next item. Um, our public comments. All right. Again, as I said before, public comments are for three minutes and it needs to be a comment, not a question on an agenda item on tonight's agenda. Uh, again, your name, Brown Deer address if you'd like to be heard. Uh,
026again, I don't know who's monitoring the chat if there was anybody on the chat that would like to be heard or is there anyone here with us that would like to make a comment? Is there anyone in the chat that would like to make a comment? I have a question. Um, >> oh, it's only comments. No question, >> but the comment is does this order have the all way it is? Can we do public comments like after number five in the future? You know, to to to tell them that they can make comments but only on what has been talked about. >> Well, no, it's it's on any agenda item. agenda item. >> They get this. They get this ahead of time. >> I know, but they may not have a question until they hear.
027>> I'm in. >> Yeah, they may not have >> I'm already up to here. Not so you know. I'm trying to finish. Okay. So, but I was just wondering for future if it it just makes sense for me to have public comments after we have discussion about the things that are on the paper that are on the agenda and then they may have some comments whereas beforehand to have comments and we haven't discussed anything it just seems >> I guess the Okay. You know what? I do understand I understand where you're coming from, but I I think that most people would not want to sit here and go through all the way to number seven and then turn around and make a public comment not knowing >> how long it may our our board meeting
028may last. >> We could go for a lot of >> Yeah. And and then you know what? If I'm a person that's like that, I would like to make but again no again. >> Yeah. Most definitely. you know, even after the items, you know, after the first five, I wouldn't think that they would want to talk about anything after, you know, items, the items for discussion, consideration, the possible board actions, the Niola stuff. I think that that would be different as well as the board reports, the planning, cap, those things. But maybe making three, four, four, five. You know, those those three changing that just changing three to five and five to four and four to three. Just just the comment. >> Okay. Just like you just changed up the baseball court. >> Yeah. >>
029Okay. All right. Again, that again everything everything we can turn around and look at it. Another thing sometime it may potentially be how how long our agenda is. Again, we generally want to do public comments early within or whatever so people don't have to sit through everything. They everybody gets a copy of this. That's the reason why we approve um when we turn around and we approve um approval of the agenda and verification of public notice. The public notice is this that goes out to everybody so everybody knows exactly >> what we're doing. >> Got it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. >> So, was that your public comment? You say your you say your name and your browner address. >> Thank you so much. >> Miss Bacon. Thank you so much. >> Okay.
030>> All right. I get it. Hey, for everybody that's we'd like to try to keep it light a little time a little bit. All right. All right. Let's uh let's go on to our item number four consent agenda. Would like to make a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the consent agenda of the 2026 special board. meeting February 21st, 2026. That's a board meeting retreat. The February 24th, 2026 regular board meeting to schedule a voucher payments via check, a wire transfers in the amount of $1,216,915.84 84 cents in the general checking account and the food service account, including funds 10, 21, 27, 39, 47, 49, 50, 72, and 80, and the March 24th, 2026 safety bill update as presented tonight. >> March 24th, 2026. Yeah. >> March 24th, 2026.
031All right. Thank you. >> Thank you very Ashley. Motion is made. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> I thank you, Miss Baker. Any discussion? >> Any say not all in favor raise hand and or I >> opposed? Say motion carries nally 720. Uh let's go on to our item number five items for discussion, consideration, possible board action. Item number eight, the Brown Deer Junior Women's Club District update. >> That's what I did. I know I >> as a part of my thing I just um I'll just say um I provided their update during my district administrator's report and again I would like to thank two members Miss Diane Johnson and Miss Kathy Stressman as well as the entire club for their of our students and our staff. >> All right, thank you very
032much. All right, let's go on to item number B, our business office update. Mr. Paul, >> good evening board. >> Two quick items real quick. um debt easement in fall. The board approved increasing the fund 39 referendum debt levy roughly $1.3 million in finishing a prepaying long-term debt. Bar will be presenting at our April 14th meeting outlining the process providing projected savings. Uh the board will be asked to approve the defeasance during our April 28th board meeting. And then second, we have our treasures report that was posted into board docs. If anyone has any questions, feel free to let me know. Uh otherwise we are tracking uh total expenses right now are 45 almost 46% spent uh compared to last year which was 46 and a half%. >> All right. Um I do want you
033uh for people everybody may not understand what the feement part means. So could you give us an explanation of the debit defeas? >> All right. So we are defeasing debt. So we levied more debt than what we typically had to pay this uh school year. uh we do that so that we can pay it off sooner which avoids interest costs in the future. >> So the 1.3 million we potentially will be approving to go towards long-term debt and if we if we pay down our long-term debt means it saves our taxpayers money in the long term. Okay. Anybody questions? No. All right. All right. And you'll be bringing this to us uh at our April in our April meetings. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. And is the 1.3 million? Is it solid? Is that we
034definitely know that that's what that number is? >> Okay. All right. Thank you very much. All right. Could you uh now let's go on to your uh for your business update. You had that one and there was treasures report. >> That's right. Uh the treasury report was posted to board ducks. Uh like I had said we are about 46% of our expenses spent so far. Uh tracking from last year where it was 46%. >> Okay. Uh any line items that uh that are in here, you know, because we always be we're always able to look at the year to date kind of where we're at and it's supposed to be broken down by by the line items and stuff and so we know that there's variances within line items. Are there any line items in
035here that are tracking way higher than what they're supposed to be at this time of the year? >> Uh, not to my knowledge. I look, there are a couple that you can see are over 100%. Those are ones that we are working on reclassing into the correct account. But other than that, everything seems to be tracking as as expected. >> Yeah, if we could. >> All right. because we still got a couple that are 100, but again, those are things that are for the whole entire year and stuff, so they're already done. Okay. All right. Any other questions? Treasure, we got any questions relationship? No. >> Okay. All right. Okay. Board members, questions for Quinton in relationship to it? No. >> All right. Thank you, sir. Um All right. Let's go on to our next
036item, the discussion and approval of the MS the MS and the HS athletic fees change. Uh MC. >> Yes. >> Thank you, board. Um at last month's board retreat, we had a discussion surrounding the same topic. Now, I want to bring it before the board to make it official going into next school year where we make an adjustment to a flat feast type model where at the high school we will be charging $65 um for u for athletic sport and middle school be a flat fee of $55. Both still carry the family max. High school's 260 and a middle school 220. um league fees are not affected. So for example like bowling wppl we're not um waving whatever those costs are because those are different um and I gave everybody the rationale back into a
037board retreat. I'm sure you got this summary. So basically just need the board to approve what's being proposed in terms of $65 is at the highest $65 being the >> um before we go into the motion board members I actually want to be asking do you have any questions prior to us even going into the motion I think does everybody remember the conversation that we had and the rationale behind it? >> Yes, Miss Ashley. So, yep. I do remember um having a conversation. I just had just one question in terms of how this will be introduced to families like um is it are you intending on doing it um when you do kind of the open house at the beginning of school? >> Rolling out like aformational like a letter that'll go out. We we're
038looking to institute the last part of the new platform found which is the registration part >> and that's why we want to tie this in. So we plan on putting some out probably >> sometime in like May let the families know that this this will be the new structure. So as we go into the summer as they're registering for you know 707 football various things it'll be right park with all that stuff. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. I guess my only other question then is Quinton, uh, are you set up to be in order to be able to collect the fees? Now, do are the fees going straight into the athletic uh, department and then coming into the business office or will the business office already have something a system
039already set up where parents can either pay their fees online or however that works. Do we have that already in place? >> Yeah, the system. >> Okay. Anybody else have any other questions before I ask for a motion? >> Just one other question. So those fees will be going out into a segregated kind of Yeah. account and D and so anything athletic will just be applied in that manner. >> Right. >> Yeah. >> Same as always, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. Cool. Well, would someone like to make a motion? Yes, sure. Are you switching off the glass? I just reading the reading. I would like to make a motion to approve and adopt a standardized flat fee schedule for all middle and high school athletics effective for the 2627 academic year. The
040fee structure shall be established at $65 per sport for high school student athletes subject to a $260 family maximum and $55 per sport for middle school student athletes subject to a $220 family maximum. This action pertains strictly to district participation fees. Any applicable league fees shall remain independent of the structure and are not subject to the aforementioned caps or flat rate pricing. >> All right. Thank you very much. Motion has been made. Do we have a second? >> I think this home motion remain. Any other discussion? >> Just a quick reminder, what was it before? >> Excuse me. $5 plus $25 transportation first and then if you were free depending on how that make it so that the current platform that we're using can't really use it because it can't figure all that out. >>
041Yeah. Okay. >> All right. Any other questions? Hearing seeing none. All in favor raise hand and or I. Any oppose? Any see? None. Motion carries unanly 7 to zero. Mr. McGregor, you have uh you have your standardized flat free schedule. >> All right, let's go on to our next item. Approval of new hires. Miss Jackson. >> Good evening, members of the board. I do not have to report. >> All right. Uh do we have any uh resignations? do have one resignation to report and that resignation comes from Deborah Gerner the elementary school second grade teacher resignation was submitted on March 9th 2026 last day of employment will be June 11th of 2026 no liquidated damages are due because the contract will have been received >> all right thank you Mr. Jackson, would someone like to
042make a motion to approve? >> Yes, I would like to make a motion to approve the resignation of Deborah Ger as an elementary school second grade teacher effective June 11, 2026. >> All right. Thank you, Mr. Do I have a second? >> I have a question. Okay. Just wanted to know. >> Whoa, whoa, let me let me do if we got a second, then I can ask. >> I'll second. >> All right. You going to second? All right. It's Ashley seconded. Any questions? I just want to know how long she had been in the district and um and whether or not there was a letter because I don't see a letter here. >> She's finishing out. >> I mean, and just to know why she's leaving, you know, if she had written a letter say,
043you know, I you know, for whatever reason, a letter, no letter, there is resignation letter. Make sure that I get that over to Miss Ross and keep it verified. Um, as far as the exit survey, um, I'll start doing that at least closer to, uh, maybe April, May gathering because the more resignations, if there will be, we'll start rolling in by then. We be we're getting closer to contract renewals and you'll have more information. I think contract renewals are due. We'll start opening that up. Uh, Mr. Paul, >> May 15th. And so around May 15th or after, we probably have a little bit more um information about resignations and why um teachers are resigning. But so far there's no buzz that there will be a mass exodus. So now I just wanted to know how
044long she had been in the district. I mean I've been here in the district 20 years. I I never heard her name before. >> So I was just curious how long she had been in the district. >> To say approximately less than not more than three years, I believe. >> Okay. No, she's been here about 12 years old. >> I think 10 or 12 I would I would say around >> I think yeah probably retirement. >> Okay, cool. >> Okay. >> All right. Thank you. Any other questions? Anyone? All in favor raise hand and or I. >> Any opposed? Any see? None. Motion carries um for Miss Garner. You know what though? But again, we will probably talk about that a little bit later at the end of the school year or whatever have you
045because we always say once a falcon, always a falcon and the school year hasn't ended yet. So, we know she'll be finishing out. All right, let's go on to our next item. Uh discussion approval of the scale solutions. Who? >> That's Cara. >> That is um that's us. So, um I have my colleagues um Matthew and Eric um here today to kind of walk through this with me. Um, this is an unusual request because it's for next year, but um, I don't know if you've taken a look at the stock market lately or heard any rumors about the cost of increasing pricing in terms of technology due to memory and RAM and um, in just hardware itself. Um, we are in a at a tipping point here. If you've read the executive summary, um the
046current solution that we use um has um has older hardware um it is currently six years old and um it is called VMware and um they were acquired a few years ago and which uh Comply um they uh they raised their prices 300%. And um and so we uh um were able to um secure like a three-year um you know contract um to buy us some time. Um and uh so but now we are coming up um as of April of 2027 on a situation where we are not going to be able to um probably afford to renew VMware. Um we are not in a unique situation. If you talk to any of the tech directors um we were just at brainstorm two weeks ago and the number of sessions um talking about people like
047what were they going to do? How are they going to fund this? And um in Brown Deere we like to think that we are a little scrappy um in terms of our our funding. Um uh we're trying to do things properly. Um you know my mantra is slow, purposeful, thoughtful implementation, but I also hate doing things twice. And so um so we think we have found a solution um that um is it going to be perfect? I don't know. And um we're uh but um but it's affordable. And um if you looked at the second quote there, the scale quote is $39,96. Um just to give you an inclination as to the price increase, we met with them a week and a half earlier and it was about $4,000 cheaper. So, um, and so, um,
048my I was given this quote. Um, the, um, it is good through tomorrow. So, if you approve this, I'm going to ask >> Oh, stop through tomorrow. >> U, the quote is good through tomorrow. Um, and and I'll explain why. Um, because what they have is um, they have some hardware in stock um, which they can secure this pricing for. We will not be build for it until next year, but we're just guaranteeing that we will purchase it. We're signing an agreement. So, um it is a um it's not a fun barrel to be over. Um because the other two solutions is um around about $96,000 and the other one $110,000. my team does feel confident that um that this is maybe the solution for now. Um until maybe hardware and the cost of memory
049and and stuff comes down right now uh because of the AI boom um everything is being sucked up and gobbled up and the prices are exponential. So um but um that is um so yes, so we would pay for it next year. We're just getting permission to pay for it. um next year, this year, so that we can sign on that dotted line and commit that quote. So, and then give us some um some thoughtful time to to implement it and make sure that um that we're ready to go in April. Uh what happens in April and the guys could um tell you this is that VMware is going to turn the key off and then we're done. Like we have no longer access to it. So, they ain't playing um and so we just
050want to make sure that we're that we're set and ready to go. So, and then um if you have any technical questions or other things, my team is here. Um I understand somewhat service level enough to speak to you, but yeah. >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, you said that it's equipment that they have on hand. So, how old is it? >> It is new. It is new. So, um and it's built to spec. So, the the specs are right here. Um but in anticipation of the of the exponential increase in costs um they they did they doubled down and purchased stock so or the ply um for so they have that in a warehouse ready for us um and uh and then can guarantee um but once that is not or you know once that's
051spoken for then we'd have to purchase new equipment at the current market price and which would um significantly more. So I can imagine, you know, this is a, you know, it almost sounds too good to be true, but if we increase in a week and a half, you know, or three weeks is when we our quotes are good. You know, $3,000 is, you know, it's like five, you know, it's just like, oh, I cannot imagine what it would be. >> So, we're just trying to play a little. Yeah. I have a question. So, when you say when they turn on, what's that look like? So VMware um if we would have to update or it shuts down, we won't be able to that means every single thing like the print server is on there. So
052every IP address for everybody in the district is on internet. Um yeah, so we we can't risk something like that. So, >> so and this is a um this is kind of that u that tool that allows for virtualiz. Um in the end it is somewhat cost-savings because you used to have to have you know a server like a physical server for which is a computer with a lot of memory on it and you can then um you used to have to have a onetoone situation and and now with the technology you're able to have um virtual servers and that's that's what this solution does. So now we don't have to we used to think about you know having you know closets with just tons of of hardware and servers and and you don't have
053to have that. >> So is this like paying for cloud? >> What is this? >> It's it's not not exactly cloud fleet. >> Yeah. So, it's basically it's going to be like a cluster of couple servers and like Cara said, um, it's not best practice to run multiple things on like on servers. So, like for example, we have a print server. You're only supposed to put printing on it. You're not going to put DNS and DHCP and all that other stuff on there because they can they don't mesh. So this is basically these boxes with a bunch of storage and memory split up into like hey I want to allocate this much to this then it's segregated off from all the other stuff and it's like okay I'm going to make this it's different than
054that but it's running on the same >> so so we're just kind of we take if you if you see you have you know go from physical boxes to kind of like virtualized boxes imaginary boxes but it's built within one box. So it's not in the cloud. Um we do then >> pay that band that backs up the stuff that's on the physical servers. And then we are looking at there's some pricing there for some other pieces called a DR node which is a replication um stuff. So which is in terms of cyber security a best practice. you want something in the cloud, you want, you know, a physical backup, and then you want an off-site backup. Then we're talking about repurposing some hardware to have one over at the elementary school. We back up
055to the cloud, and then we do a physical backup. So, but um but right now, this is um this is the ask. Uh we have a a $50,000 capital hardware budget um a year um which I whine all the time. That's not a whole lot but um but we uh but we try to we're just trying to um anticipate then you know um encumbering those funds using that and then um and then um it's unfortunately notable. Um there is some discussion talking about a system like the $109,000 system called uh Nanix that um that people might try to slip through. We were just having a discussion back here that I don't want to risk it, you know, um thinking that, oh, it'll be covered and then um and then the rules change and then it's
056not covered and then I have to find $109,000 um much more comfortable with this solution. I think the team feels very comfortable with this solution um for now. >> All right. >> So, um you're only signing right now, right? And the signing is a commitment to make the migration from the old system or this current system to this new system at that point. >> Yeah. In July one. Yeah. So then Yeah. Okay. With the with the new budget fund refresh then we'll then we'll send them the check and then they'll send us the hardware. Yeah. >> So what happens after April of 2027? >> Then VMware will go away but we'll have had time >> but it'll be in there and everything. So we all good. So we basic we have two things going on.
057>> So we're swapping VMware through true scale and yeah we might actually have replicated environments for a little while. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. Any other questions before we ask for a motion? >> I would just like to thank my team for thinking really out of the box though and trying to you know um yeah just be very creative and um I couldn't do it without them. So we're we're very fortunate. So, I just have a question. So, it looks like um we have a cost of 39,000, but then I see another another >> Oh, like the cluster. >> Yeah. >> Those are the menu. Um so, we don't want the appetizers or the desserts. So, we're just going to go with the main course, which is the >> which is the the
058top cluster there. Okay. So, um we might decide um if we wanted to do an offsite thing. And this is something I think Eric we we debate in our department like can we you know can we afford can we borrow from one other budget to you know to pay for the DR node um this year for 15,000 um we also have um our Moroi licenses are up. So, you know, just really trying to balance out all of those cases and um maybe we see how money is next year. Um or um but one of the things we talked about is maybe following up the following year with the DR node. Yeah. So, to do that, the renewal prices on this as well is not bad. So, this is what you were seeing there, Felita, was
059the $10,000 renewal. So, that'll that'll get us through, you know, after that five years. So, this is this is a one-time buy. It's committed, it's done, and then uh and then after that, what does it look like? The hardware, we can renew the support for a couple of um we can't renew the support on the hardware, but we can renew the software. So, which is um which is a pretty good deal. >> Um okay, I guess M. Robinson and then um >> follow up to your what your statement you just made about maybe doing DR note next year. What might the price of that be by then? >> Well um it would be for the 2728 school year. Um and the hope is is that um everybody stops um breathing the AI panic and then
060maybe things will come down. we don't have that luxury at this point to say like h we're going to gamble it and wait until March of 27 to see what happens. So um so we we may not need it. Uh we might be you know have some other solution um that we come to but um but I think um our hope is and then I believe that the market's expectation is is that it's a pendulum right so it's going to swing back in one direction. Yeah. >> Okay. My question is so the DR node is a cyber security program. >> Um do you want to explain back >> be like right now we have a what's called DR know for VMware and it's it stands for disaster recovery right so it's like we run our
061main hardware at the high school >> in uh in the fire room downstairs and at the elementary we have what's called a DR node. So every night the main stuff from the from the high school will replicate over to the elementary. So it's kind of like a back like an insurance you know where it's like hey something that really bad happens and it has to be kind of really bad like a fire or something you know somehow that stuff gets destroyed we have another place that we can start running from right away. >> Okay backup system. Yeah, it's it's a backup system and it's like a little more of a of a immediate backup system because regular backups you'd have to take down and like restore and work with. >> These are kind of ready
062to go. It's it's kind of hot or whatever you want to say for >> and we never had to use it so far. No, no. Do we need >> But we think we can we can maybe do something internally that will allow us to meet that compliance piece this next year when we renew our cyber security insurance. And I love these awful surveys. Um that is one of the things that ask us if it's it's the rule of three, you know. So you've got one you do a physical backup, you've got an off-site backup which would be at a different location and they'll be back up to the cloud which we use. So, so we're secure with that through 2027. Yeah. Through 2027 for Yeah. April 27th, which also buys us a little time to
063figure out. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> All right. Any other questions? All right. Uh, would someone like to make a motion? >> Perfect scale H250 cluster solution. came the amount to $39,96 with funds allocated in the 2026 27 school year. >> Thank you, Mr. [ __ ] Motion made. Do I have a second? >> Making. >> All right. Thank you so much, Mr. M. Motion made a second. Any further discussion? Hear and all approval. Raise hand and or I any opposed motion carries unity 7 to zero. Mr. Turner, you guys always up always up on it when it comes to this or whatever have you. So, keep us keep us safe, keep us secure, and keep all of our information. >> We try. >> And then, um, I'm also the next one. >> Yeah,
064I know. Here we go. We say, "Hey, you be on a roll asking for your money." >> I know. I like um we have, um, budgetarily, uh, we, um, I had a conversation with Quinton that we underst budget this year. We did put money in other budget lines. We didn't spend money obviously, but um you know that we've been trying to purchase new lines, AB hardware at the elementary school um because it is in the most need over there. We've successfully purchased uh 4K and K new lines. Um three years ago last year, we bought 15 to round out first, second, and third grade new lines. And then which leaves two grade levels left. um to say that those teachers are salty is um an understatement. So um one of the things that um so
065that we would like to do is to go ahead and um use the funds that we have left and um when I say like we'll cobble some from here and here and here it's no lie. So you like we'll do it so that we can finish it. So, um, so we're going to do that, um, hopefully with your approval, um, and, uh, and then take care of, um, those last two, uh, grade levels at the, uh, at the elementary school. Um, we, um, that leaves two classrooms that are specials classrooms that, um, are have yet to be finished. Um, I have proposed to Mr. Griffin that maybe he look at his budget and see if he can if he can take care of that. But um but they have they have things in their rooms
066that are working now. Um is it a nice thing? Yeah. To have? Sure. Because then it would match the rest of the school. So but um so yes. So that is that is where we stand. >> Let's turn. So you gave us a quote for 10, but then I also see another one for 12. >> Yeah. >> So um >> so so why Yeah. >> Mr. Griffin didn't get back to me whether or not he'd pony up his money. So, um, so I, uh, said he needed to have a discussion and I don't think he was able to have that discussion yet. So, um, so we'll just, um, so you're going to, >> can we just do, can we just do an approval of 12 and if he does come out of money out of
067his budget, then he can just go ahead and put it back into whichever line item you guys are going to do. But wouldn't it but wouldn't it be more advantageous if we if we got this good pricing for it, get the 12, be done with it, and rather than do the 10, and then all of a sudden we turn around in a month or two or whatever and then decide we need the other two and the price has gone up or whatever have you. So, >> um I I believe that it's a Mr. Paul question 4 to 12 >> if I don't I'm not I'm not aware of Mr. budget situation. Budget situation. >> Right. So those other two monitors we're talking about are going into special classes. >> It would go into an art
068room. The art room >> specials, right? >> Yep. And then music. >> Okay. So I would just say again, this is just my recommendation and the board can say what if we're going to do it. Let's just go ahead and do it. You know what I mean? I don't I wouldn't want to be the art teacher or the music teacher and everybody else has it and I don't have it. And I would believe that uh my students deserve the same type of equipment and everything else that everybody else is having. Especially if you think about our kids and our music and our art programs doing phenomenal things. I'd rather just go ahead and just again it's just me and if we've got the money just go ahead and do it. Now again Mr. Griffin has
069the money for those other two within his budget. Then what he does is he turns around and he um sends it back. But otherwise, I'd rather just go ahead and make the approval to go ahead and do for the quote for 12 and be able to lock this price in. >> Questions from questions from any the other board members relationship to this? >> So, you talked about earlier having a um um a capital um capital budget of 50,000. So are these two price those prices all over the future or within the >> um so I have um we underspent in some hardware um this year. So um but we're um we also have some other account lines that we've under spent. So it would just be kind of cobbling some of that together. So, so
070I have like 25 in my existing budget for capital and then um we might look at some overage um budgeting, you know, for um terms of copers or it could be my um I do have some funds in my AV budget, AV hardware budget which foods, you know. So, but um so we kind of cobble that together, but I didn't have the u the 6,000 extra, you know, for the um for the other two. So, that would be a stretch. So, um, so whether, um, we can, uh, you can approve the 12 and then whether Mr. Paul and I have a discussion about whether or not Mr. Griffin is able to afford it or if there's other funds, we can go ahead and do that. But if you wanted to do that and worst case,
071we get the 10 and then, you know, we've got the option. >> Quinn, bless you, Quinn, you guys work that out. All right. Would somebody like can make a motion for the 12? Dr. I'd like to make a motion to 12 86 inch new line flat panels for classrooms in the amount of $37,740 for the 202526 school year. So that's for this year. It's not for next year. >> It will be for this year. Correct. So come out >> 37,740. >> Yep. All right. We have a motion. Miss Maker made a motion. Uh, do we have a second? >> What's the cost? >> 30 37,740. >> That is for 12. >> For 12. >> Yes. >> All right. Miss Robinson. Oh, you did, Miss. Okay. Miss Fington seconded. Okay. >> All right. Any other discussion?
072>> Any further discussion? >> All right. Uh, all in favor raise hand and or I. Any opposed? >> Yes. >> She miss. >> All right. There's no opposed. All right. Motion carries andly 720. So, uh, Miss Turner, we got you and Mr. Paul, you guys work that out and then you have a very strenuous conversation with Mr. Griffin. >> I will. I will. Nobody wants to be on. Um S and I just as a sidebar we're having a conversation. Um so um her husband is Steve Gerner and he is actually professor over at Concordia currently. He was here for like seven years. Deb came here he left. Yes. >> Which is five years. So So she's been here five years. He was here seven years. So there's one I get by my by 12 there.
073So yeah. So it's all good. But but yeah, but she's been here for five. So um a staple in second grade. They're going to be really sorry to say. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Thanks, Trina. >> All right. Thank you very much. All right. Let's go on to um let's go on to our next item, facilities and ground and safety update. >> Yeah. Before we proceed this evening, I would like to introduce to you Mr. Ken McIntyre, who is serving as our interim director of facilities in Browns. As mentioned to you previously, Mr. McIntyre has worked in Brown for over a year and currently serves as our HVAC manager in the district. Previously, Mr. McIntyre worked for 24 years public schools in the department of facilities and maintenance as a building operation supervisor
074for over 40 schools. His experience of supervision, electrical, mechanical, groundskeeping, election setup, pool maintenance, and snow removal. He has hit the ground running and is prepared to share information with you related to the facilities and ground of the district. Mr. McIntyre, >> welcome. >> He should have sat up here. >> Right there next to Mr. >> having me. Um, yeah. Uh, thank for introduction. I I do come from Poker Schools as one of the uh former schooling operations supervisors. Um, I worked in all four regions at one point to me which every school has. Okay. So that's part of my background. Uh as far as browner concerned, I'm currently holding position of Hback manager. So I'm still maintaining that job as well as filling in for person Mr. Russ in the facilities uh leadership role.
075U what I'm uh looking at right now is just uh organizing our department, getting everybody on the same page. Um we have couple of shortages. We just built one for the ground position. We do have a temp that's doing very very well assisting in the ground investing training. I've been working with them showing them things as far as the ground maintenance is concerned. We do want to focus on the upcoming spring uh sports activities that are upcoming. We had an indoor track meet last week. We got one tomorrow. We'll be focusing on the grounds. Tennis uh courts have been set up. We do have to put up wind screens. Uh, so I'm trying to get position and people in place so we can continue to flow without any interruptions. Um, I'm also planning on um
076getting things back to what I used to be as far as the pool. I think the community wants to use that quicker than what been previously stated. So I'm looking for a date of hopefully June 1st to start training uh doing the maintenance and repainting that getting that back up at a timely manner. So I'm working on that as well. Uh right now we're closing out all of our winter grounds, maintenance and equipment. Um we currently have one working snowblower. Uh three are down at this moment because that made the glitches that we had. We did have equipment breakdown. Um and uh we had to go and get parts. Um we had trees falling. One right here in front of the district. Another one on six district. Another one we have to cut down on
07755th. um tank saw that we had did break. We had to go purchase a new one. Uh and that also included the oil fuel for the blade and for the uh saw itself. The John Deere ATV broke down. We had to purchase a >> built for that. It's in house. uh I think and uh just the right off the bat we probably spent roughly about 420 bucks within the first week trying to keep cost down and uh we're still waiting for this bill. We do have one position on ship uh that we have the temp for in the middle school section south section over there. So that's working out very well as of right now. I think we're staffed. Uh it's just a matter of training, getting everybody on the same page. We're definitely focusing
078on emergencies first uh and then working down from there. And with that, um I yield. >> You're welcome. And actually, I've been had several conversations with Mr. Maxire over the past what two weeks now. >> Yeah. Easy or whatever stuff. So, >> like our equipment is hazing him. But uh but yeah, had again several conversations with Mr. McTire. He's here weekends and everything else like that or whatever. And um is doing a real good job trying to figure out kind of where we're at with some of our equipment and our facility needs and everything like that um in this in during this interim time and everything and stuff. So yeah, keep up the uh keep up the good work, sir. All right. Questions for Mr. McIntyre outside of the equipment hazing. >> All right. Thank
079you, sir. All right. Let's go on to our next item. Our hygienic maintenance management presentation. Nurse Cro Crawbridge. >> Thank you for having me. My name is Sarah CrowBridge. I am your district nurse. This has been my second year, second full year, second time I'm presenting this information to you. I'm kind of doing it a little different this year. Um, I this is my time where I get to toot my own horn because everything I do seems to be in the background that nobody gets to kind of see or appreciate other than myself. Um, so we're going to talk about all the great things that have been going on here at Brown. My cooker works. It should if it's true enough. >> Okay. Nurses are not good with it. So, we're just gonna So, >>
080established that up. >> No, you're good. No, sometime just there. So, >> all good when the IT person can't do it either than I think it's a if the angle is >> that's okay. batteries >> for me. >> It did work earlier, didn't it, Sarah? It did. It's okay. >> Yeah. So, >> that's all right. >> I will I will for you. Thank you. Um Yeah. So, >> Oh, I think I will. >> There we go. So, um talk about the things that I've been doing this year currently. Um vision screening. I screened 302 students. I did K5, second, and fourth grade. Um here in screening, I did 290 student screenings. That was first grade, third grade, and fifth grade. I ensure that every child does get screened. So even when there's absences, I follow
081up and make sure I get everybody. Um I help families if they okay if they um if the kids fail, I ensure that the families do get follow-up care and make sure that the kids are seen and they get whatever resources they need. I did dental clinic this year. Um dental clinic this year expanded. I did a clinic at the elementary school and I did a clinic in the high school. I was able to serve 180 students. I am hoping that every year that families see the good things that I'm doing in the dental clinics that it'll just keep growing and growing. I will say that oral care in our school is a problem. I do see a lot of students with massive amounts of decay. all of these students that get flagged from the
082clinics. I personally do all the case management myself and find dentists for every single one of the students to ensure that all of your kids are getting seen by dentists and even if that means I have to find dentist who will do sedate I know the student isn't going to do well I do ensure that every single one of these kids get now that I learned that I got some dental clinic dental kicks dent dental kits from the junior women's league I will be doing dental classes at the elementary school so I will take that and I will do powerpoints I did hand washing last year for every single one of the classrooms with the kids with experiments. This year, I'll just work on getting some dental ones done for the kids. >> They still
083take those little red pills. >> I don't know if they gave They do still have them. They do because my kids have done them. So, they do still have, but I don't know what they all gave me. So, I want to say I hope it is because I want to show them what they're doing. It's not right. >> Um I wanted to talk about the um the health of our district. So what I implemented last year is um it was really hard for me to know if the data that I had in Skyward was actually correct. So every time a student registers for the beginning of the year the families are required to fill out a health form which basically asks do you have asthma? Do you need to have medication in school? Do you
084have allergies? What are their allergies? Do you have seizures? Do you have cickle cell? And do you have any other health concerns? And then I follow up with all those families all the paperwork out and try to get everything I need to get the school year set up. Currently at the elementary school, we have 88 asthmatics. We have 87. In the middle high school, we have 58 seasonal allergies, 17 at the middle high school, 34 food allergies at the elementary school, 42 at the high school. ADHD, 23 at the elementary, 22 at the middle high school, seizures, eight at each of the schools. And cardiovascular issues, seven at the elementary, and three at the high school. I do not ask for um physician verification of diagnosis because my concern is parents aren't going to be
085able to get that or it's just going to be another step. So I basically take what the parents are going to give me and I just go from there. I try not to put more work on our parents than what I have to. Um and then I also implemented I make sure that our food service people it is all in the computer logged into them. So when a kid scans their card, it pops up red. They all know what allergies they have to try to make sure I keep the cafeteria safe as well. >> Any single cell? >> Yes, we do. >> I should have put on there how many. I'm going to say I'm going to say five or six at the elementary and I think I have three at the high school. >>
086And for every one of these kids, like my cickle cell kids, I write specific plans for all of these kids if there's an emergency that every staff member knows exactly what to do. I put everything in layman's terms. If you see this, this is what you do. if you see this, this is what you do. All the staff are trained who have those kids. I do that in the beginning of the school year. I train everyone on what they need. On top of the fact they have health aids that are trained. On top of the fact, if an emergency really happens, it's really me who's coming to it. I wear my walkie-talkie all day. I got my cell phone on all day. I literally am usually there within 60 seconds if something really happens. of
087information from parents to be able to coordinate with their own providers in the community if they in fact have them. >> Wait, what was that? >> Are you getting releases of information? >> Yeah, I do get it. It depends. I have a really good um working relationship with most of my children's hospital nurses and doctors. So if it is let's say your child has a heart disease usually before I even before I even asking for information children's is faxing me orders for the school. So most of the time my diabetic kids I'm getting information before those kids even set foot in the school. So most of this I'm getting way before I would even have to talk to parents about it. If I need to get a release of information, let's say there's a IEP
088504. I want to know more information about this kid. I'm getting a release. I'm faxing it over to Children's and I'm getting more records. Usually, if it's something minor like I was just asking a question to the Cickle cell clinic, I can call the clinic and nurse to nurse, provider to provider, they will talk to me about what I need to know for school. I'm not asking other questions like about other health concerns. I don't worry about that. I only worry about like my little specific window that I need to keep the kids safe. So, I do get a release if I need it. So part of my reasoning for asking that, so refresh my memory about when we do enrollment at the beginning of the year, is that a a document that's included for
089parents to have to sign off? >> Not a consent. The document that I have, it's basically it's a yes or no question. Does your child have asthma? Yes or no. Does your child need medicine? Yes or no. And I go through a list of the pertinent things to me and I leave them a space to type out. If they want to type something else, they can't. If the parent doesn't divulge it to me and I find out like the teacher, I just had someone say, "Well, did you know this kid has cardiovascular disease?" The nurse is always the last one to know. I'll call the parents and say, "Hey, a teacher let me know this. I'm just wondering if this is something I can help you with." 99% of the time when I call and
090say to a family, I found out this information. How can I help you? They're relieved to have a nurse in the school who's going to write a plan that's going to make their kids' life easier in the school setting. >> Right. So the other part of me asking that again is like if that is something that would make it easier for you and I appreciate the fact that you are getting communication advance >> but if it can just be integrated into the process for them anyways >> I can see my problem would be is I don't know if children's would take so I don't have any electronic it would be really nice if somehow our registration had the ability for parents to actually sign online and I don't so I don't know if children's would
091take it because I'm only using drop downs to the information, not like actual signatures. So, that would be my one issue. >> They're not going to type it. >> Um, so then my next one, my health room visits. So, in 2023 in the elementary, we saw 3,738 kids. 2024 to 25 school year, we saw 4570. So, that was an increase. Um last year I had 15 students who were required to take medication on a daily basis which equated to 25 doses a day. The reason why that number is higher I do a lot with our asthmatics. I am like I am so pro making sure these kids are treated before I have an issue. So I schedule if I feel the child is younger and they're having asthmatic problems based on my doctor orders. I
092will order an inhaler 15 minutes before gym, 15 minutes before recess to make sure if a parent calls me and says, "Hey Sarah, my son is having asthma issues and they have a cold based on the doctor's orders." I'm automatically if mom says I give the inhaler at 8, I automatically order it at noon to ensure the kid is getting the dose to ensure they're staying in school and I'm not sending them home. So a lot of my orders are me preemptively dealing with our exmatics so that I'm not sending them home. I don't want someone in crisis. >> Any age do you have? >> I have one in each school. >> Um, >> question for you >> because it it shows us visits for the first couple of years and then it goes to
093students. So, how is are we about the same? Are we more visits now? >> This year? >> Yeah. Because >> for 25 26 >> just because the measure is different. >> Well, the only reason why it's different is because my daily Okay. Okay. So, when I do a daily medication, that doesn't get counted in my visits. It's totally separate with the computer system. So, the 15 students a day, I'm just letting you know that 25 times a day, on top of all those visits, I have to give a medication. >> It's on top of it, >> right? >> Does that make sense? Because in our computer system, medication doses don't coincide with visits. When we go to Infinite Campus, it'll all be in one. But in Skyward, it's two separate things. I didn't pull daily
094meds report. I just pulled my daily kids so you can understand how many doses per day that health aid is giving on top of all her visits. >> So then would you report visits at the end of the year then? >> So at the end of the year is when I pull them. So the last day of school is when I pull my visits. >> So you're asking if she can convert that into a visit to add to the >> and I don't have my 25 26 visits yet because I would wait till the end of the year. I just didn't know that. >> Yeah, for the 35 26 school year, I'll have those numbers at the end of the year, but right now, just so you understand, I 25 daily doses of medication a
095day for this year. Last year was rough, it's always roughly the same. Roughly the same. Um, and then for the middle high school, we went from 3,98 visits to 3,751. And in the middle high school, I only have four students who take a daily medication. The reason why it's significantly less is because a lot of those kids are self-caring their inhalers. I don't have to manage them as much as much care as I have to give to our elementary students just because they're younger. So just to understand the difference between me and what my health aids do. So my health aids basically give the first aid care to our students and they administer my medications for me. I do everything else. I do all of the case management for all of our families. If the
096family doesn't know where to go, they don't know where to turn. I take all of those phone calls and try to get them directed in the right place to make sure their kids are getting the right care that they need. Parents who aren't upset with their care, feel like they're not being heard, don't know where to go, they call me and I deal with that. Um, if anything goes beyond first aid, I am the one who takes it. I would say I probably see 15 to 20 15 students a day where the health aids don't know what to do and they're asking my advice, looking in ears, looking at teeth, whatever it seems to be going on. and then I take it over, call the parents and deal with what needs to do. Um, I
097attend all the IEPs, I attend the 504s, and I do a lot of education with staff and I do a lot of education with our students a lot and we'll talk about that. Um, my new project for 256, um, I just finished vaping education with all of our 11th grade. >> We need it massively. Um, so it it's it's I'm working on I have a whole program what I really want happening next year. I'm gonna talk about next year. I want from sixth grade to 12th grade. Every single class is going to get a teaching from me on something. It's going to range from vaping. I have lessons go I am all set up to go all the way up all the way to talking about marijuana use. I think the 11th graders really accepted
098what I had to say. I try to make it fun for them and like very relatable. I have four teenagers at home. So, I've already given this speech a multitude of times to my own children. And I made my 19-year-old son listen to me. And I'm like, "Does this sound like you'd want to listen to me?" And he's like, "Yeah." I'm like, "Okay, good." Um, so I researched all these different programs that I liked and I ended up using Stanford University's program and then I altered it to fit what I felt our students would want to hear. Um, and then I'm trying to implement. We're getting there. I'm hoping next year it will be completely instilled. Um they will the kids will have to take an online vaping course in lie of suspension. Suspension doesn't
099work. >> We're not dealing to the core issue. >> They go home and like we are not dealing with it. So they have the program is already set. The program is already set up. It's already ready to go. I just I need everybody on board to say this is how we're going to do it and we just need to do it. So, it is all ready to be done and that's the in-depth program through um the American um lung association. My last thing on vaping this I was told in July I can get a scholarship to take a class. In July I'll be taking a class so that we can have a vaping support group. So children who are addicted to vaping who want to get help can join my support group and then we
100will have dis I have different lesson plans on what they'll do talking about vaping, how much money you're wasting, all this stuff. When's your quit date? Let's have a quit date and let's all support each other to try to make healthier decisions. I really try to make my health room the most non-judgmental place I can so that these kids feel comfortable to come forward and tell me what's going on. >> All right. So I guess my question in relationship to them taking an online course instead of in lie of suspension. Dr. Cotton, I know that we have policies that are in place if a student gets caught vaping or whatever. We've got the vaping sensors in the bathrooms. Also know that it is a municipal citation from the village of Brown Deere if a student
101gets caught vaping. So, how does that work in relationship to u what she would like to try to implement for next year? How does how exactly how exactly would that work? >> Yeah. Well, this is funny and Sarah's almost like in my in my brain. I'm I'm happy to hear what she's saying because it this type of information really does need to go down to the middle school because we are dealing with that kind of being a problem right now in the middle school setting. Um and what we in fact we just dealt with this earlier this year. So right now what we're doing unfortunately we are bring we are suspending kids who for kind of anti what Sarah is saying for them bringing the use of it as well as the purchasing of vape
102cartridges. Right. Um the what our SRO did was there is a citation that's offered to those students of $313. But I think that if we make this um it doesn't go against necessarily policy. It's just listed as tobacco product. But remember there's a range in that as well anywhere from one to a three. Meaning just having a conversation with a student as far as taking them to like a pre-expulsion. So there's a range. So if we institute something like this, that's us taking control of it, acknowledge, but also taking control of what we want to see here within the district. >> Well, I guess my other piece of that thing is is by law they're not old enough to be able to have it in the first place. >> Correct. They're not. So, I'm just
103trying to make sure that I know that we want to do right by the kids and be able to try to do the educate thing or whatever have you, but we've got we've got we've got laws and policies that are in place that we need to that we need to follow. And if we're not going to follow those policies or whatever, then that mean we need to amend them. See, because what I don't want to have happen is is this kid goes to this class, this kid gets suspended and gets the municipal citation. We've got to start taking some of this uh to where people can kind of pick and choose >> what's going to happen and just have a this is what we're doing. So like first offense the class, second offense this. >>
104Yeah, it needs to be that. It needs to be something that that's that's in writing. And I guess the other piece too is is making sure as a district we're not getting ourselves in trouble because if this kid gets caught with a vape and it's not old enough to have a vape in the first place, are we kind of breaking the law by not reporting it? But I think that >> that's another reason why we got the vape to vape things in the in the bathrooms and everything else like that. So, >> but I think right now vaping is so pervasive for right now. Right now, from my vantage point, it is so normal. >> It's like smoking smoke cigarettes back in the day. >> Let's just talk about how normal it is for young
105people to vape. And the fact of the matter is if we don't get young people to begin to understand that the vaping to the degree that they're doing it is killing them more than a pack of cigarette, that whole health aspect of it is killing them faster than one pack of cigarettes would. Right. Like I just think that we've got to figure out a balance to this because we can do all you're saying, Todd, but I think it's a bigger issue than that, right? Like cuz they are getting vapes like candy. >> That's a societal thing or whatever. What I wanted to say is is I just wanted to make >> I just want to make sure that we don't get ourselves in trouble as a district >> with these kids having this and we
106say we're not reporting on however this whole thing works or the suspension pieces and stuff. >> We do we do report it because in the incidents that we've had just this week the RSRO was all in it. So that's why we know that there were citations that were given to the children that were >> so they would so they just wouldn't get suspended. They would go to the class for the first class instead of getting >> they would still get but they would still get the citation. >> I mean and in my opinion >> all right so they >> and in my opinion they should it should be in my opinion. >> It should be an in school suspension because you should be sitting in that school doing this class. >> But we vaping >>
107right >> on the way walking the vaping too >> and and they're putting more than just nicotine in because we've had I mean I don't know about here but we've had kids where they've had to call the paramedics from what they're what's in that and so >> I think >> for preventative the best thing and even tier one is education you have to educate >> because suspending them like I believe is not going to be effective so I think this is a great program now how Dr. cotton integrates it in or whatever resources maybe it's the class and and yep get the ticket but we're going to offer community service and part of that could be going to Sarah's um you know circle so not only are you taking the class but you're also meeting
108in that space mandatory or go ahead and go home but if it happens again then you're at a expulsion >> all right Mr. Pro and then Dr. class. I think both of you didn't both of you guys raise your hands. >> I think me said excuse to use going back to when you were talking about policy and law. I think it as Dr. Cotton mentioned, we have those levels. A student will still receive a ticket, right? um that's not something that we will negotiate on. You will receive the ticket just like if they are fighting they receive the this early conduct ticket. Um but at this point we're going back to what Shironda is saying we're educating. We have to instill that education for our students and now we're seeing it happening at a younger
109age. Um, so in as far as the discipline and our policies in the law, we will ensure that parents understand they will still receive a ticket, a citation like says, they know they're enrolled in a program. They know that they're in a in a class. That ticket may be dismissed or lowered, but we will go within what our levels are. First time, maybe Quinton got caught the first time. got put in the class and now he's he's like I'm not doing this again. But maybe maybe needs it twice, right? >> But the ticket I think that is a serious offense and we need to start showing students that their actions can cause something a little bit more serious. SRO is involved and you receive a ticket. That's not something that's a non that's a non-negotiable.
110You will receive Yeah, that citation was over $300. $313,000. >> And I also want to add in addition to what has already been posited that the other thing that we have to look at is sharing it, right? >> Um, so even if it's the first time, but Erica chooses to share it with Paul, Mr. Paul then for some districts like that's an automatic >> um expulsion because they shared it >> with the line. >> Is it for our district? >> Is it a is it an automatic explosion for our district? >> Maybe that's okay. It is left up to us. I mean that's still kind of like on the lines of photography where kids don't understand that >> is just passing it. And so I think that's one of the things that as education the
111legal aspects of it too kids have to know especially you know your 17year-old you know now you're you're really close to an adult you could be an adult and so you know that's an adult. >> So question I guess I guess guys you know what she still need to continue her presentation. I think we're gonna we will be talking about this for now until eternity. Uh what I would like to have happen is if you could potentially I'd already talked to Dr. Cotton about looking at our policies procedures. >> If you guys can all work together to kind of figure something out including two too. All right. >> All right. Yeah. Everybody in the sandbox. Um but if you guys kind of put something together for us or whatever. Um, and it's not going to
112be the next board meeting, but I'd like to be able to try to have something that we can discuss and potentially approve uh for before the 26 27th school year starts. So, that' be something that be part of our handbook and be part of our uh parent handbook and our student handbook and everything else like that. If we can have something in place that the board would approve uh being able to move forward because like I said before, this is more of a societal thing or whatever have you. I think that we we could talk through it blue in the face on this one. And I think that potentially maybe we might need to speak to some other districts as well too about kind of potentially what are they doing relationship this because this is
113just not just a brown deer thing. This is again societal and stuff. So if we could just go ahead and do that and you guys can work on that part and then we can let you go ahead and continue with your presentation. So my other new projects for 2526 um I worked with my medical director and we now have emergency inhalers at both of the buildings. Basically I created a plan for the health aids. They are the only ones who can administer it or me. Basically they look at the student and they have a flowchart of symptoms based on what they see determines on how much that they give that child. Anything happens in this district they're calling me. So most of the time it's me giving it anyway. Um, and then this year we
114have already used the stock inhaler 10 times at the middle high school and one time at the elementary. The reason why it gets used more at the middle high school is a lot of these kids are self-caring inhalers and don't have their inhaler >> and they don't have the paperwork that I need. So, this is a really good backup. So, I'm not I'm not sending them home. I'm keeping them in school and I'm treating them and trying to get the parents to give me what I need. Um, stock medication. I implemented this in the middle high school this year. We now stock ibuprofen, Tylenol, and benadryil. The parents get the approval during registration. They just do a simple drop down. Can your child have Tylenol? Yes or no. Ibuprofen? Yes or no? Benadrol, yes or
115no. It worked with me. They're amazing. They put all my orders in the computer, dumped it all in so we can give everything we need and we go from there. Um, so that was new for this year as well. That was a huge one. >> What are you using for your spacer? Um, we have the toilet paper tubes that I get from school nurse supply. It's they're only $10 for 22. So, what I do is after the student use that p that cardboard, it looks like a toilet paper tube that you put on it. We put in a ziplockc bag with their name and you can keep using it until they look kind of gross. So, then, and we don't use anyone that much. So, then we just store them all in a row and
116if the kid comes back, we can just keep using the same one so I can save cost for the school. um vaccines we still remained at 99% for the last two years of this does not mean we have 99% immunization this means I got 99% reporting so we may be at like 85 86% because remember we have people who sign waivers but I at least either have a waiver or I have immunizations on 99 over 99% of our children >> so that's no longer um in the system where you can go in and look online and see it. >> It's still on there. You can see. >> Yep. And so what I do is I can data dump from Word, which is that into Skyward. But then what I do on top of it is
117so because we have a really high turnover rate in our school. So I could have to deal with about three to 400 kids each year as they register trying to fix stuff. As soon as every new student registers, it gets flagged to me. I then go in myself and I enter them all in myself to make my next school year easier. I try to keep on top of things. Um, education. I just did the vaping class for the 11th graders. I just did it spent my whole day today. Um, I did human growth and development again for the girls in fourth and fifth grade in early March. And then the PTC donated deodorant and menstrual supplies so all the girls got a little kit to put in their backpack so that they're ready when they
118do start ministration. Um, I do a lot of education with staff. I do blood pressure readings, lifestyle. I do Narcan training for our emergency response team. We're project Adam certified. That happened last year. We do our drill every year. We just did the elementary. We did everything amazing. I have my high schools coming up in April. I do debriefing on every emergency that happens to my staff what they did good, what they didn't do good, when we should call 911, when we shouldn't call 911. I do cardiac arrest training for all the staff members in the beginning of the year. Um, so my staffing is I have a health aid, one at the elementary, one at the middle high school. Um, I do a lot of comprehensive treatments. I do a lot of lice treatments,
119checking heads, t helping families with whatever it is they need, dental issues, asthma. Um, I cover the health aids every day. So I cover their lunches, so I see the kids. I cover all of their sick days when they don't come in. I'm the one who sees the kids and um I do an annual training for my health aids each year to make sure the health of the student the care that they're getting is better and better each year. >> So you have a bed in your office or something. >> I have a lot of I know I love to be bit like for me I love these like this is like what I do like this is my dream job. I love educating these kids. I love teaching these kids. I believe it takes
120a community to raise these kids. I treat all these kids like they're my own. I talk to them like they're my own. You come to my health room, I'm looking at your absenteeism. I am looking at your visits. I'm looking at your grades. We're talking about your grades. We're talking about what you're doing with your life. What in the world is going on with you? Like every single kid truly I feel like every kid deserves the best. And when it comes to the health of these kids, I feel like I just give them my all. And I love to be busy. I do not like to sit for five minutes. If I gotta sit for five minutes, we got to find something for me to do. >> Well, you just got to make sure you
121keep yourself >> healthy or whatever and stuff because it sounds as though if you're not there, then what are we doing? >> Dang. Okay, fine. Um, no, I take very good care of myself, but this is like my my own children are my passion and then this like literally is my second passion of whatever I can do for this community to have it be better for these kids. >> All right. Uh, any questions outside of kudos on the presentation and all of the great work that you're doing? Uh, any other questions or comments that you'd like to that you have for our nurse, our district nurse? >> Thank you for presenting this. part. >> Great presentation. >> Yes. Yes. Yes. >> And I got to say, Dr. Cotton made it beautiful. So, we got to
122say, Dr. Cotton, thank you for the pictures. >> Nurses are not good at that. So, what she did for me was amazing. >> All right. Good job. >> All right. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. >> All right. Let's go on to our item J. Approval of the 2627 board calendar. I know that we kind of went through this thing uh two times now. Do we need to go through it a third? Anybody see any other uh places where we potentially may need to make some changes? >> All right. So, no one sees anything but someone like to make a motion to approve. Motion to approve the 2627 board calendar as presented. >> Thank you very much, Mr. Robinson. Motion made. Do we have a second? >> Second. >> I think Miss Bacon. Motion made
123and seconded. Any other further discussion? Hearing see all in favor raise hand and or I any opposed? See that motion carries seven to zero. So we have our our board calendar as presented. Right. All right. Let's go on to our next item, our approval of board canvasers. All right. Um All right. So now, Miss Ross, do you want to talk a little bit more about what our board canvasers actually do? >> Yes. The counselors will meet at the village here on Monday, April the 13th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. to canvas the uh April 7th, 2026 spring election. We have secured uh two volunteers uh Browner residents who have agreed to uh serve as our canvases this year. We have Cynthia Stokes Murray and Shaina Key who is a uh teacher here in the school district.
124She agreed to canvas for us along with our board clerk Miss Daniels Ashley. >> All right. And Anisha is like uh well she couldn't do it this time herself because I'm running. >> Yes. So yeah, my wife didn't last year, so she was like, "Oh, I lucked out to the air of uh to the eye of Felita." >> Yeah. >> But yeah. Okay. With that being said, would someone like to make a motion? >> I make a motion to approve Shaina and Cynthia Stokes Curry Davis Ashley as the school district of Grand April 7, 2026 spring election. Yes, please. >> Thank you very much, Miss M. Robinson. Motion made. We have a second. All right, Miss Hallmark. All right. Any other further discussion? See, all in favor raise hand and or I. Any oppose? See
125that? Motion carries unanimously. 720. All right, let's go on to our next item. Uh, discussion approval of Neola policy review of our first reading. policies that are before you that we have Miss Ross and I have Dr. Leola in order to as well as um Miss Turner as well as Mr. Paul there some um policies that need all to review. So this is the first for your reading further. >> All right. Would someone like to make a motion? I'd like to make a motion to approve the first reading of the Taylor's policy review act. >> All right. Thank you very much. A motion has been made. Do we have a second? >> All right. Motion made. Seconded by All right. All any questions? >> I do have a question about reading specialist. We do have
126a reading specialist in the district, right? >> Up until second grade. Okay. >> We got for everything. >> Okay. That that is it. I just clarify. >> We definitely do. All right. Any other further questions? >> Yeah, I do have questions. I'm going >> questions or question. Make sure. Okay. So, the question I have is around The crowd funding >> what? Uh B6605 >> 6608. >> Well, the crowdfunding is 6605. >> Yeah. 6605. >> So it talks about uh how it needs to be a secure low fee platform those kinds of things. However, are are we going to have something that says it has to be a platform that comes through our IT department so that it's directly connected to our finance accounts or are people going to be able to just set something up
127on their own and use it? How is that process going to work? Because I think that that's something that needs to be covered as well. >> Okay. So do me a miss Roberts do a favor read could read the policy itself. >> Okay. So for 6605 it says this policy regulates the use of online crowdfunding platforms to raise money or resources for district approved educational activities classroom and school related programs. It ensures that crowdfunding activities align with the district's educational mission, maintain financial transparency, and protects each student's privacy. It also prevents misuse of school branding and resources, and ensures legal compliance and protects donors by requiring the use of secure low fee platform. >> Yeah. Because if you put something in here that it has to come to the school, you're talking about popcorn is
128kind of crowdfunded. you're talking about >> it's all of that >> the EF tours like that's sort of crowdfunding. So if you put something in there that says it has to come through the district. Now when people do have a legit crowdfunding opportunity like it has to be approved but not probably come through their >> is that what you're saying like no. So fundraising and crowdfunding is two different like a donor's choose things. If it's donor's choose or let's say for instance maybe double good that's one that a lot of people are familiar with with the popcorn. Can I just set up my own double good account for the district and let the money come to me and then I got to give the money to the district or are there is there a double
129good account for the district and if I want to do a fundraiser or crowdfunding I got to come to Kira and say hey >> I want to set this up for this group >> and then the money will go directly into our finances because that's the account that the district has set up where I just got one on my own and I take the money and disseminate it however once the money come in. >> Well, the one for us though I I thought our policy is is anything that happens like that. It comes directly into it's not a personal one comes directly into the district. It comes into a district fund. >> How we know that? >> That's how it's supposed to be set up in relation to any of our fundraising activities. >> It's
130not it's not in the polishes though. That's my point. Cheerleading, >> wrestling, you got forensics. If all those kids are doing fundraising at the same time and it's come how >> the athletic department has >> well that's how it's already happened >> that's fundraising I'm talking about a crowdfunding platform >> like what >> and like double good >> but you talk about the system itself so I just did a crowdfunding for our school. >> Uhhuh. >> Right. For the prom. >> So the way we set it up was we labeled it Nova High School prom. >> Money's got raised four days. We put it under the or high school check gets written to get deposited into the school account, the the agency account. >> But a lot of these platforms don't write checks anymore. It's
131a direct deposit into a an account. Well, >> which is why I'm saying, >> is it going to have to come into a district account or do I just if I'm doing one for one of these groups, do I just have my own thing set up and then I got to write a check to the district? >> No, they asked me. >> Not all the platforms are like that for >> the double good is you use double. >> Okay, so let's >> double good is in the business. I'm just I just use that as an example because a lot of people know what double good is. >> Okay. >> But I'm saying nothing like that is specified in a policy >> and it should be. >> So if I decide that I'm going to do
132this fundraiser for the school and then I do the money however I do it. >> How do we know that you gave us all the money? >> How do we know? >> Right. >> I 100% understand where you're coming from. But the but you raised a really good issue because double good no change no money got exchanged >> right. >> So I never touched we never touched money >> when no no funds ever transpired. So I as a purchaser of popcorn purchase it through double good. >> Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So I don't I don't >> I pose the question because it is a tech question. Yeah, >> because I set up crowdfunding accounts for people and I make sure that it's attached to their bank account and that the money is not
133coming to me. >> Yes. And that's the the piece right there it gets. >> And if it's not in the public can do it and then you have people saying people are not giving money >> and and then you don't fall >> into the trap of people running away with money, >> right? So whatever it is that we're going to do, >> right, >> that's for >> our tech team, our finance, our directors to high, but it needs to be in the policy. >> See, but now here's the thing. Now, when you look at the bottom, this like for a lot of these policies, it'll turn around and be like, this is strongly recommended or you really need to do this. This right here, these revisions are recommended, but not required in relationship to this.
134So we will have the autonomy to kind of if if something that we wanted to be able to do, we can do it that way or whatever have you. Again, this is recommended, but it's not required in relationship to NEO. Again, remember with the old policies or whatever, a lot of times it say could either be that or it could be say like, you know, this is strongly recommended. If they say strongly recommended, that's like, yeah, you better do you got to make sure that it happens. >> And that's usually what we do. If if uh Mr. Thompson comes in and strongly recommends we do adopt that with this policy itself with the crowdfunding. What you what this is is a lot of technical changes. So they've struck out words to simplify the policy itself.
135But we will get around before we bring it back for a second read 60 6605. we'll get in a room and figure out what our policy is in regards to this using like your examples of double good and and possibly any other entity that >> and see how money is exchanging hands because now >> certainly money should be exchang and I believe our policy per Kevin was like we don't do >> we know we don't shave money does not we don't do money >> there there isn't crowd you know funding like a district authorized crowd funding you So what you do personally, you know, is fine, but you're not going to put the district brand on it. You're not allowed to, you know, use any of that. >> Okay. So you'll bring that back to
136the second reader. >> It's not the district like his, you know, >> yes, but and both funies you have to have, you know, principal permission to do that and so it just becomes very hard. other things to I think donor choice is another one where >> choice >> I think that's the main one really for a lot of >> that's the main one >> got it and I think that the the to go back to your initial example the reason why double good is is because it is a touchless >> where the funds there there are no monies touched at all right like it's it's a secure platform it gets deposited into account It's clean. >> Some the Girl Scout cookies technically for the kids that are doing it now and stuff. It's it's online.
137>> It's online. You don't do it like hand to hand, >> right? Some of them do. >> Some of them. But the majority of it now is starting to be online. >> Touch money because you have some time to find those. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. All right. to her point though, >> I mean it is the the it's when you're collecting the funds and and the that that part is where we get >> Quinn raised his hand up. Quinn for the first time in all of our meetings. Quinn raised his hand. Okay, let's go. I was going to say policy 6608 also is provides additional accountability for fundraising throughout funding activities. >> It just basically says we have to have oversight if they're going to use our name. Business office needs to at least
138be able to see the receipts and things of that nature. >> Oh, there it is. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Oh, yeah. Accountability and over fundraiser >> to everybody so that anybody in the district job. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> All right. Uh any other question, Miss Robinson? cuz I know you say you had questions. >> No, that my whole thing like I just want there to be clarity because if there is not clarity, we can't say anything when somebody does something different. >> Right. >> Perfect. >> All right. Uh any other questions? I see none. We had a motion and a second. Uh all in favor raise hand and or I. >> Any opposed? Say no. Motion carries. 720. All right. Let's go on to approve. Here we go. Our next item is our
139S SWA uh and legislative update. >> Okay. >> Jordan. >> Okay. During this week, um basically the only thing that really has changed is that they um increased the funding for um special education. It's what 69% now versus 34%. But otherwise, there's no money coming in anywhere else. But I I have been sending reports to you guys. So if you want to dig a little deeper, you can kind of, you know, >> Yes. And then thank you very much for sending us that information. And we can just take it out, check it out for ourselves as well, too, if there are any other questions. All right. WY update. >> She said, >> there you go. Further sweeter than that. Okay. Thank you very much as well. And then parks and wreck. There there there is
140no report. I reported on at the last meeting. So there is no uh reports the next meeting. We'll wait till the next meeting. >> Yes. >> Next meeting. >> Yes, ma'am. >> All right. So with that being said, board planning calendar, March 30th through April 3rd, spring break, no school, April 6th, school resumes. The 7th, professional learning day, so no school. Uh the 13th, board of campuses, village hall at 8:30. The 14th, professional board meeting at 6. the 16th Cisa one educator job fair in the North Commons. Miss Jackson, you sending all that information out to everything for the job fair. >> They sending what information? >> Uh Caesar one educator job fair north comments 3 to 7 >> for the community. >> It's already been being promoted. >> Yeah. >> I'm just saying is
141there anything else like because I know we're looking for teachers and stuff like that. So are we going to have a booth there ourselves? >> Okay, cool. That's why I'm just asking. >> Oh, okay. And then uh on April 28th, our regular board meeting at 6:00. All right. With that being said, uh would someone like to do number eight? >> I would like to make a motion to reserve. >> All right. Thank you very much. A motion has been made by Miss Homeart. Do we have a second? >> A second to make a motion to >> motion has been seconded. All in favor raise hand and or I. Any opposed? All right. Thank you. I close the meeting at 8 o'clock p.m. Thank you very much. Enjoy the remainder of your evening and have a
142wonderful week. >> Fantastic. >> Yes. takes him over there shaking when she couldn't
