Um, there may only be

00328 days on the calendar in the month of February, but the School District of Brown Deer was filled with activities. Below are the highlights of activities and events for the district. At Brown Deer Elementary, Literacy Night, the after-school CLC program in proud collaboration with the Department of Teaching and Learning recently hosted a vibrant family literacy night. We were thrilled to welcome 76 students and about 42 families for an evening centered on the power of reading. Participants engaged in high interest literacy activities designed to bridge the gap between the school and home and ensure the learning continued in order to emphasize and promote a love of reading. Every student was provided with specialized literacy kit to build their personal libraries and practice skills with their families. Connecting to current events beyond literacy, our scholars have been

004deeply immersed in a series of thematic enrichment units. Black History Month, students are honoring African American heritage through lessons that explore the historical contributions and legacies of black leaders, innovators, and artists. The Winter Olympics, igniting a global perspective, our students are currently studying the Olympic Games. These lessons combine geography and athletics as they explore the culture of Italy and the technical details of the various winter sports. Fourth and fifth grade concert. This year's concert allowed students to think about their future and understand the importance that music plays in that journey. Students performed selections that had them thinking about growing older, living in the moment, and appreciating their youth. Thank you to Thank you to all of the families and staff who supported their young performers and to Miss Sherrod, our music teacher, for putting this

005beautiful performance together. The next concert, if you are so inclined, will happen on March 10th at 6:30 down at the BBE and it will be our second and third grade students. K-5 celebrated 100 days of school. K-5 students and staff celebrated the 100th day of school on February 12th, 2026. Students were able to enjoy the day by either dressing like a centurion or in a fancy attire. One of the activities involved mathematics students were able to eat 10 different snacks that totaled 100 and make paper crowns that read 100 days brighter. Thank you to our amazing K5 teachers for creating fun activities for our students to enjoy. There you go. Right on time. And Brown Deer Elementary, there was a meet uh middle school meet and greet. Mrs. Washington, middle school principal, dropped by fifth

006grade classrooms to share what makes Brown Deer Middle School so special. From academics to extracurriculars, she covered it all. Fifth graders and their families were invited to attend our middle school meet and greet that was held Thursday, February 19th. The event was well attended as over 100 students and their families packed the LRC to get a first-hand look at their new home for next year. And we've already determined that can't hold it in the LRC anymore. We've got to go to the map cuz there was just that many people. Ms. Washington shared important information including schedules, extracurricular activities, technology usage, and and work and everyone was able to tour the building and meet the staff. Special shout-out to our sixth grade uh staff, Ms. Keith, Ms. Shawn, Ms. Oberer, Ms. Radnick, and our new music

007teacher, Mr. Cleaver. Recognizing MAP awards, 75 students were celebrated as our middle school MAP uh test stars on February 6th. Honoring both our top scores and those who showed the most growth between testing periods. Students were entered into multiple raffles with prizes ranging from fast food gift cards to Beat headphones. Congratulations the to these hardworking students and thank you to parents who joined us for breakfast. Students know that we are so proud of you. 008porcupine. Shout out to the brave students who stepped up for some petting zoo magic. Um big thanks to our sixth-grade ELA teachers and to Mrs. Taylor in the LRC and her parents for making this happen because it's their farm. Um these essays are going to be amazing. We Energy visit. Our eighth graders were visited by We Energies who came to give our students presentation on the on electricity and gas safety. They also shared information regarding career pathways in the industry. These visits were especially important as it provided a real-world experience as students are currently working in an electricity unit. Finally, for middle school, it's our forensics team's success. Congratulations to the middle school forensics team on making second place in the large school category at the first meet of the season. Woohoo! We hosted over

009400 students, judges, and volunteers at our school during this meet. Thank you to our dedicated coaches, Miss Shawn, Miss Choka, and Mr. Tierney, the maintenance team for ensuring our grounds were clean, and all volunteers for making sure this event ran as smoothly as possible. And finally, at the Brown Deer High School wrestling accomplishment. On Friday, February 13th, the tone was set by our girls team, and the momentum start started as our four wrestlers qualified for sectionals. A huge shout-out to our three regional champs, Olivia Hay, Eileen Hay, and McKenzie Rodriguez. On Saturday, February 14th, the boys team shined with a record-breaking performance. Brown Deer is sending seven wrestlers to the WIA State Championship. Huge congratulations to our sectional champs, Maximus Haye, Michael Rogers, Ali uh Elijah Thames Martin, and Makai Rogers. Special uh congratulations to

010Cole Lejaun and Payton Norrington for also punching their ticket to the state tournament. To further show their team dominance in the sport, the team finished with the highest point total overall, earning a spot in the team sectional weekend for Saturday 20 the 21st at Brookfield East High School. And here's now an an update. We're going to state. The team will compete in LaCrosse for the first state championship on March 5th, 6th, and 7th. Wow. >> Congratulations to our wrestlers. Actuarial Science Career Day at Northwestern Mutual. A group of students who attended this event had the chance to learn more about the careers and networks with current professionals in the field. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn how a career in actuarial science can be a great field for those who love

011math. Thank you to Ms. Fadi, our guidance counselor, for organizing this opportunity for our students. Health Occupations Students of America, or also known as HOSA, traveled to Green Bay for an EMS conference. The conference is for students who are interested in emergency medical services, such as EMT, paramedic, or firefighter careers, as well as health fields in general. Shortly after arriving, all students were certified in Epi administration. Students then traveled through four hands-on stations: sports injury and splinting, stroke recognition, seizure recognition and management, and taking vital signs. Those There was also a conference exposition that students got to walk through, which included Flight for Life helicopters, ambulances, CBR CPR dummies, practice trache tubes, and a lot of other medical equipment for them to explore. Thank you to our HOSA advisor, Ms. Bodart, for helping make this

012incredible experience possible for our students. The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee performance was a huge success. The performance was held February 5th through the 8th, and students and live participants spelled and sang their way into the hearts of the attendees. Special shout-out to Ms. Kinder, Mr. Doll, and all student performers for their outstanding depiction of this wonderful, w o n d e r f u l, production. >> [clears throat] >> And then lastly, members of the ASC showed off their cooking skills at the first annual chili cook-off. Five participants showed that they shared their best chili with prizes going from first, second, and third place. Hats off to our first-place winner, Tiffany Target, second place to Matt Russ, and third place tied to Donna Ross and Caitlin Branscome. Honorable mention was given to our

013final contestant, Neha. Thank you, Dr. Glass, for creating a fun event for all of us to enjoy. We did that last week Monday. That ends my report for the month of October. >> Excellent. And I'm still upset because I was asked to be a judge, and somehow I don't know. I didn't get a chance to taste chili. All right. That was number one. Then number two, I'm I'm glad because I went to the opening night for the Putnam County Spelling Bee, and they tried to get me to come on the stage but I'm like oh no. >> [laughter] >> I was like I don't know I don't know this time. And then the last thing when I step in I think about our wrestling program, you got to remember 4 years ago we were partnering

014with Vincent to even have a wrestling program. Remember that? We had to partner we had to partner with Vincent to have wrestling and now look where we are now. And Lord I will let you know I think we're trying we were talking about trying to get buses but because of the timing of the uh getting kids off state yeah getting kids off state I don't know that we're going to do that but we're definitely uh Mr. Gregory came to me talking about a watch party. So whatever we do for the students I'll make sure that you have an invitation to it so you know what's going on. Perfect thank you. All right. Anybody questions for Dr. Cotton and and our team for all this wonderful stuff that happened in the month of February. I mean

015that almost you know what for most people that that's like for the whole year. Right. So we this is all done up in the 28 days A little bit. Oh yeah a little month but a lot of stuff. So questions for Dr. Cotton or comments. Excellent job you and your team good job good job. And to our scholars our student athletes and our scholars you know forensic a whole thing or whatever have you up this like yes a lot of great things going on. All right. Let's go on to our next item our next item is public comments. Again I'll report again. Anybody that is here with us at the ASC and or all the all the line or whatever if you if you have a comment remember this is a comment not a question

016on the item that is part of our agenda you have 3 minutes state your name and brown your address. So is there anybody here on the chat that would wanted to be heard or anybody here in person that would like to be heard for public comment. >> While we was up always give it 30 seconds. How do I wear the curve from going being in the 60s to snow flurries today? Yeah, [laughter] yeah. I mean who would have who would have told that last week when we were walking up out of here? I was like see this going to be when we were I think it was Saturday when we walked out there. I was like you know what they going to turn around and be 3 ft of snow. Yes. All right. Anything anybody?

017No? All right. Thank you very much for that. All right, let's go on to our next item to our consent agenda. Would someone like to make a motion to approve approve our consent agenda? Dr. Vidal, I'd like to make a motion to approve the consent agenda including the minutes of the January 13th, 2026 special board meeting January 27th, 2026 regular board meetings the schedule of other payments via check, ACH and wire transfers in the amount of $1,250,467.52 in the general checking account and the food service account including funds 10, 21, 27, 39, 47, 49, 50, 72 and 80 and the February 24th, 2026 school safety drill update as presented tonight. Thanks very much, Ms. Ashley. A motion has been made. We have a second. I'll second that. I second that. I do have a quick

018question. Um I'm just kind of curious whether or not um um we're having issues like we've had in the past with with people not paying for food service. Is that continuing or or we're not nobody is? There's some behind but Not a lot. no. I think in the last couple months we got concerted effort to collect more and it's working. Cool. Thank you. Okay. So we had a motion and a second. Any other further discussion? You can see that all in favor will raise hand and or eye. Any opposed? You see that motion carries 6-0. All right, let's go on to our next item of item number five. Our business office report. All right, Mr. Paul. Good evening, board. Good evening. Uh my update on the operations in the business office. We have our spring

019payments going out at the end of this week. We're just over 2.5 million. 2 million of it going towards the principal, the rest being interest. And then the second item on is the treasurer's report. It was attached in board book. But we do have some reclass to do. We are fairly in line with last year in only where with percentage spent and percentage brought in for revenues and expenditures. I don't know if you have any questions on it. Board, any questions in relationship to our financials? I had a question initially but then you know what I when I looked into it a little bit more, I answered my own question. Uh anybody else? Anybody questions? Okay, thank you very much, sir. All right, let's go on to our next item is our item 5B. Uh

020approval of new hires. Mr. Jackson. I have two new hires to announce. First uh is an internal employee just for last meeting from the elementary school as the assistant principal. Start date was February 15th of 2026, replacing Jason Love. Our next new hire is Mr. Ryan Cleaver for the middle school music teacher position. Start date is February 17th of 2026, replacing Samantha Wineholt. That concludes my new hires. All right. Uh would someone like to make a motion to approve the uh new hires? Yes, I would like to make a motion to approve the employment agreement for Jessica Wasnicki as an elementary school assistant principal effective February 15th, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year. We got to break these off into two segments here. So, all right. All right, so we have a motion to approve

021Jessica uh as the uh assistant principal. Uh do we have a second? I'll second. All right, the motion was made and seconded. Motion made and seconded. Any discussion? I think she's been doing a wonderful job down there. I've gone down there a couple times and they've done a wonderful The whole team has done a wonderful job down there. All right. Uh all in favor would raise hand and/or eye. Any opposed? I see that motion carries unanimously 6 to 0. All right, Jessica. So, official. All right. And our next hire? Um yes, I would like to make a motion to approve the hiring of Ryan Cleaver as a middle school music teacher effective February 17th, 2026. All right. All right, we have a motion. Do we have a second? All right, thank you, Mr. Esparza. All

022right. Motion is made and seconded. Uh any discussion? Any seeing that all in favor would raise hand and/or eye. Any opposed? Yes, Hank. Uh yes, the second was uh Mr. Esparza. Ooh. Ms. Hallbar. All right. Try it again. All in favor would raise hand and/or eye. Any opposed? I see that motion carries unanimously 6 to 0. Uh all right, Ryan Cleaver. That our music middle school music teacher. All right, thank you very much. All right, let's go to our next item. Uh Uh resignations. Any resignations? I am happy to announce there are no resignations to announce tonight. Well, that is some really really good news. All right, excellent. All right, let's go into our next item. Safety facilities and grounds update, Mr. Russ. Good evening, board. Um the facilities and grounds uh department is uh

023still in the process of uh filling a vacancy for our grounds department right now. Um we are still um in the uh hiring process of that. Um I will give further update once we find an individual placement earlier. Right. That was this uh old first shift, second shift? >> First shift. Okay. Um secondly, Um facilities and grounds and business um and the department of business services working together to get uh get some potential uh information for uh capital improvement for the referendum. Um we've been in contact with some of our contractors to see if we can get better numbers uh for this referendum that is coming up. I should have some more information for the board uh come towards the end of March. All right. Sounds good. Uh questions for for uh Mr. Russ relationship

024to this facilities. Anything? Outside here, we look good. And then um as far as the safety is concerned, um we uh the safety committee is going to be holding their uh district meeting on this Friday. Um so I'll have uh another update for Florida. Safety related. All right. Um and what when does the safety committee meet again? Uh Friday. Okay. Sounds good. Questions for Mr. Ross. All right. Thank you, sir. All right. Let's go on to our next item item number uh E. 4627 enrollment revenue projections. So, I believe that would probably be Mr. Paul. Yes. Uh good evening, board. Um I shared with everyone the enrollment revenue projections for the 20 6 27 school year. Uh utilizing the Baird budget model and cohort cohort survival method uh to project our uh enrollment for next

025year. We're looking at a 13 active increase in our head count. That would [clears throat] take our three-year average out to 1708. That number is then used in our revenue formula. As you can see on page two, uh we can see the increase of 325 that Governor Evers put in our budget for 400 years. Our 1708 for the average giving us total of 8,442. Our declining enrollment function will increase by almost double. Our prior open enrollment usually changes depending on the year, so I didn't I left that flat. And our private school vouchers are expected to jump up to about 7% to 1,338,000 bucks. Uh as far as other revenue, we anticipate investment income to decrease uh due to interest rates going down. Uh federal uh title funding will be determined later in this year,

026and that may also have an impact with the administration currently in office. I believe they would like to get rid of school title funding. Uh we are looking at a $1.2 million increase in our revenues, uh possibly having our property taxes decrease from this year. With that increase, some of it is due to our vouchers, which an increase in the revenue also equals an increase in the expenditures, so it's not actually spending money for us. Uh we're continuing to analyze the projections for the end of the financial 25-26 school year. Uh according to our treasurer's report, we are in line with the percentages from last year, and I don't anticipate we'll realize the full deficit of 1.3 million that we had passed. Um that being said, then over the last 2 years we've adopted deficit

027budgets, and with our uh expected expenditures to be increasing at 1.5 million, and our revenues are only 1.3, uh we may need to consider cutting some of our budget or going to operational referendum to support operations. Um Question. Um all right, and I'm I'm looking at the numbers in relationship to decrease even though we've added additional uh open enrollment seats. Uh I know Dr. Cotton, I know in the past what we've done is is reached out families that potentially had made try to do open open enrollment out. Uh do we have any plan to for enrollment to make sure to see if we maybe able to get some of these uh families to continue to stay with us rather than go out? I'm looking I'm looking at this girl who's got her hand up adamantly,

028I guess. Go ahead, Brooke. Uh we do actually have a plan. Dr. Cotton and I have discussed um opening up a virtual um we thought a virtual school, but right now because we want to start small and I haven't really hashed out the details with her, um inviting our families that open enrolled to virtual to consider us as a virtual option um to bring those families back. Um right now we're looking at grades 6 through 12 for virtual. Do you know what that number is? Right now there's about 40 families that are out virtual. In those grades. That's what I was going to ask cuz I feel like we are contracting with a virtual entity, right? >> No, we no longer During the the pandemic we killed. But what we would do initially before we

029would venture out to start a own new entity, I want to see if I can pull some of those people back and then create once we have those kids here Okay. an entity where we have an e-school. Like Waxhaw. I like that. I like that a lot. I think that um more and more you see even though there's a resistance, right? There is is a resistance uh to do it. I think we really have to pay attention to the needs of our families, right? And we may not do a large scale virtual program, but and maybe we do some attach some conditions or whatever. I'm sure the district will come up with some ways to make it like feasible. So with that being said So with that being said, Dr. Glass, we would make sure

030that especially the ones that we're talking about that are in the high school from 9th to 12th grade that actually have to make sure that they're doing the credits and stuff. We would make sure that that virtual program would make sure that they would get the curriculum and all those things necessary in order to be able to get those credits. Yes, those things. Right now we have ingenuity that can be used as a um credit recovery or advancement. Right now, we're using it for recovery, but it can be used both ways. Okay. And we're already paying for it, right? Yes. Yes. We're already paying for it. And if you remember, we had those one parents that were here whose children were in uh swimming? Diving? Yes. And they were doing home school and everything like

031that. So, again, when you sat there and you said it last meeting, maybe think about that. I mean, I I think one of the things that we're going to have to start to look at is is outside of the box. Yeah. When we start to look at our out our enrollment banks and, you know, families these change. And so, as a school district, we've got to be able to adapt and adapt to those changes. So, that may be one thing and stuff, but I think the other thing, too, is is that concerted effort that we had before, Dr. Calvin, is to call these families, new people that have actually moved into the district, or people that do not go to the district right now, and make a concerted effort to contact them and have them

032come to our facilities, meet with our staff, be able to do some of these different things and everything else like that and stuff. Cuz we want to be able to keep our We want to keep our babies here with us. And we've got an excellent program going on here. And we're on the upswing. And so, you know, those are one of those things that, you know, that again that that build a community. And, you know, they're under the age of 18. I'd rather us educate them than some other district if you know that they they have to Yep. Well, I do want to say along that lines of that family, um they did consider another district, but stayed the home school route because they want her to remain in this district. part of the home

033school sports. >> Yep. Cuz when I spoke to them, I said, "If you enroll at the school, you can do sports with us." Mhm. Um yeah. It's a DPI rule. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you you you got to participate You got to participate in the district. It's a DPI rule. The sports are at got that straight. Right. You can only do home school and sports in your resident district. So, if we have that option for them, they would be ours. Yep. You talked about Brookfield South, but also which one of those schools is up there by the Greek place? Um Seven Lakes in Wisconsin? Lake Country Lutheran High. My my my nephew my great nephew graduated from there and he did virtual because his his grandmother has dementia. So, he had to watch her and

034and and so he worked from school at home. So, that might be another place that you can go and kind of maybe see how they they did their programming as well as sports. I heard their whole program was from a family who did it for a little bit. They said it was really nice. Interesting. They weren't going to do it in person, but it worked good while it worked. A while ago. So, right now we look at our numbers from last year from last year to this year with the projection is where minus what's that? The 13. Uh minus 13, but again, when you look at your under our three average our FTE, uh it's actually minus 21. So, again, if we can turn around and and be able to like I said before, get

035our students back, stay with us. Uh not only does it do does that not make us feel better, then also from a financial standpoint, but it's staying home rather than going out. And being able to help us work with that students about this deficit that we have right here. Uh these last few years I have not felt comfortable signing off on this daily budget. I mean you know, but we've been great stewards of the money. I mean, we can only do so much and we've been great stewards of the money. We've been a prepaid debt down and everything else like that. So, as we continue to move forward, we've got to and I want to let let our community know that we are looking at every avenue we potentially and possibly can to be able

036to do enrollment as well as continue to have high quality programming going on. So Do we anticipate quality of housing that's coming in that their kids coming in? I mean we already have students enrolling in the housing. The apartments. Yeah. But I know we were from before we didn't have a big number coming through and stuff cuz generally what you're talking about is one and two bedroom units. So so you didn't really know if they had a lot of school age kids that actually do that or whatever cuz I thought I thought it was like a real minimal amount of students that came when we built was that um What's the one across from the baby? Yeah, it was like real it was like minimal like it was like what? 10 12 kids or something

037like that? It was minimal. But again, we'll continue to work through that and don't ask more units uh up through baby. There may be some other students that will be also come through as well. I remember we do have information that we've given to them to plug the district as well. So when a family's come to rent or you know, purchase in that area, we have flyers that are available to them as well. All right. Any other questions for Quigley? All right, thank you, sir. Keep us in the loop. And you know, you guys let us know as you continue to look at these virtual enrollment options and opportunities we potentially could have as well as us making sure that of students that are going to the district, us being able to contact them and

038having them come in for a family night or visit, you know, come visit or whatever, you know, whatever we may do or whatever to be able to get that to happen. All right. Uh let's go on to our next item is our staffing review. Mr. Dixon? Is that Mr. Dixon or is that Mr. Mr. That's me. Okay. Good evening, board, again. Um first part of the 2026-2027 budget process to review current staffing levels and salary and benefits consist of 70% of a district's expenses. Uh the chart on the first page is indicates where we are with staffing in January. Calculates students FTE value using our most recent January January pupil count numbers. Over the last couple years, Brown Brown Deer has experienced a natural decline in enrollment. And if that trend continues, we'll need to

039re-examine if those resources are properly allocated. Alternatively, alternatively, the board will have an option to utilize the open enrollment program as it wants to stabilize enrollment going forward. That'll be a critical part of our conversation and budgeting. Uh the current staffing is on this first page for the total. Uh we look at about a point five difference from last year this year in the reduction. Um just fairly quickly, uh elementary school, we have a total of 83.25 FTE. Uh for the first grade through fifth grade, that's five teachers per grade level. The sped in elementary has 14 FTEs. Specialists have eight, and admin support are 32. Consisting mostly of sped educational assistants. In the middle school, we have a total of 43.69. Uh those percentages of the decimals are because there's staff that are shared

040in schools. Our teachers, there's 23 and a half. Sped has 5.3. Specialists have 5.3, and then the admin support has 3 and a half. The staffing at the high school, we have FTEs for teaching. Uh spread is 6.8. Our specialist we have 12 there and admin support we have 16 and a quarter. Uh lastly we have the district staff uh a total of 36.3 FTE. Uh admin we have eight professional services we have 6.1 and support 22.2. And I just I had this report so that we can keep that in mind as we continue these budget talks through our meetings to be conscious of uh our staffing compared to our total. Clarkston She's under professional. Last page. Last page. This is Under professional last page. And this is nurse side. Yeah. She's under district has

041total server. Uh quit over taxing. I know you know what we always plan for all of these positions and all of them are being filled. Uh like when we look at this year do we do do we have any of these positions that we didn't fill that we had budgeted for or we did not fill or we have not filled? No. I don't I do not know. All of those positions I can look up. Okay. I don't know cuz usually when you do a budget sometimes you may say I'm just going to throw it out. I need 100 teachers. And sometimes you have it or whatever and you usually but you might fill 95 and there's five of them that you don't necessarily really fill and stuff. So I just didn't know if if if

042when we do these numbers right here are we filling all every one of the positions that we're talking about or So excluding teachers I'm looking at I'm thinking about the building sub position that position was not filled uh for elementary. But I don't know if that counts towards the the certain teaching. Now, but overall for our district staffing, that is the one position that has not um been filled so far as of today's day. And then, any other gaps that we have in our teaching we use overloads to fill So, for right now, we have we're supposed to have three gym teachers at the high school. And we're using two overloads to fill that third position since we had our gym teacher resign not too long ago. And like at the at the first grade

043at the elementary, um we had our re- relocation, and so we are having we allocated staff differently in order to fill the first grade position. Mhm. Yeah, when our music teacher left, we had overloads from the other teachers to come in and teach those classes until we were able to stabilize that position. So, we we've moved staff around so that we don't can't say that we have a true vacancy. And then, like Al will tell you this, we do have like a third uh secretarial position down at the elementary. We've kind of decided right now we're not going to fill it um just cuz we know about revenue, so tied it to and I could have probably done a test if he's still working. Yeah, uh conversation with the building principal about the about the

044third person. Right now, but right now we're holding it to All right. Um um questions? Any other further questions? I know this is real preliminary and we're we're looking at this thing right now or whatever have you and stuff, but I I think it's good for us to kind of look be looking at this thing right now and trying to plan out uh because the more we can try to figure out what this budget potentially may really look like as it move forward when we do the approval of the final budget. All right. If we need more questions? All right. It's cool with me, thank you, sir. Just want to go over next item. Discussion and approval of the 2026-2027 board calendar. Uh Would that be Dr. Scott or would that be Ms. Ross? >>

045That would be me. Um I did give everyone a board members a copy of the draft. It says a draft. And this these are proposed uh meeting dates for the Board of Education for the 2026-2027 school So December and March are still uh those are the ones we're still only doing one board meeting. Correct. >> December and March uh And July. Yeah. And July. Yes. July. So we're looking at June 9th. Uh The organizational meeting is scheduled for the 28th of April. And uh the regular board uh special board meeting May 12th. Regular board meeting May 26th. So you have two times. Where? I sure do. All right. I'll send Yeah, I see it. Okay, thank you. Uh July of 2026, we have our special board meeting scheduled for June 9th. And the regular board

046meeting scheduled for June 23rd. So graduation is going to be on the 13th this year? That is correct. That's late. Yeah, that's late. Usually it's like the first Yeah. [clears throat] Usually May 30th. They extended Oh yeah, they extended the calendar. The calendar is out. Oh yeah. They put it out. They didn't start it till September. No. And if I'm not That he's Interesting. Okay. All right, cool. Whatever it is, it is what it is. We got to roll with the punches. So I don't know if there's no other way around it. Okay. Okay, we're moving on to July 2026. We have one board meeting scheduled. That will be our regular board meeting, scheduled for July 21st. In August 2026, we have our special board meeting scheduled for August 11th, and the uh regular board

047meeting scheduled for August 25th. And August 7th is what? Retreat. Board retreat? >> Yep, summer board retreat. So, I I I got a I do have a question. So, when we have the retreat, could that constitute as our special Could we do something where that's part of our special board meeting rather than having those three board meetings? Cuz you look at it, we'll do one that Friday the 7th, then we turn around then that Tuesday the 11th, and then the 25th. Is there a way possible for us to have instead of having that meeting on the 11th, have it on the 7th when we have that when we have our board retreat? Cuz we're already here, unless there's going to be so many things that we've got to get to in August cuz school is

048getting ready to start, stuff that we do have to get signed and everything else like that. Is there Is there a potential Again, this is talking to the rest of the board. Would you guys look at that as potentially as an option, but now that may be being we may need to add an hour to the board retreat because we may have Board meeting. information, stuff that we've got to do, and things that we may have to approve or whatever have you. Or would you rather do that or rather have three board meetings in August? Add an hour for the retreat. What are your thoughts, Ms. Barrington? I know cuz a lot of us are also still trying to get the last of that vacation in. 7th is a holiday. Oh, your birthday? Not my

049birthday, my son's birthday. Uh well, we still would have been here anyway, we are so. But, but again, I I don't know. This This is the stuff that I'm asking board I'm just asking board members or whatever stuff cuz I know a lot of people try to do like that advance that part of vacation stuff or whatever have you whatever before that September kicks in or whatever. So I'm just I'm asking board members is this something that you would think about? This is a something that we've got to approve tonight, but maybe this potentially could be something that we think about especially those other board meetings where we have our board retreats on those Saturdays. Could we turn around and potentially not have that other special board meeting and just combine it into the board

050retreats? I don't think you do. >> [laughter] >> Uh but again I mean just I'm just wondering that's something that board members would even have a thought about? I mean again and or is there something within our bylaws that say we have to meet x amount of times per year? The only requirement are the regular board monthly regular board meeting. That's the requirement. So the 11th would come off. Of August? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The 11th would come off. Um and then um The 7th would have an additional hour so it would be like 8:00 to 1:00. If necessary. If necessary. Um and then is there another one that's like that? The February. That would be your winter board retreat. See but then we've got to but we've got to have our regular board meeting

051on the 23rd anyway. So we're going to so we're going to have So you would be taking the 9th off. Right. Yeah, we we take the the 9th off and it would be on the 20th. We'd have a board meeting on the 20th and the 23rd. Do we make it 13th and 20th? Of February? Yeah, move the retreat date to the 13th. >> Oh, so we did that. We said we did for some of the people who Huh? It's what? Yeah, a lot of town. It is what? Yeah, the 13th Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. It'd be really nice to It'd be really nice to move the 20th possession meeting now. We just have to cut out. Okay. And if you want to talk about I do Valentine's Day, but every day is Valentine's Day. Okay,

052so are we going to move it to the 13th? The retreat and take off the 9th? So it's I would I would think that that probably would be a good one. What do you think uh I could do the 13th. So we took off the 9th and we did it We did the retreat on the 13th. What's the total? All right. And then is there any And then we add an hour to the retreat. Plus one hour. Retreat plus one. So those would be the Those would Would those be the only two? Did we come to a decision on August? Yeah. Yeah, I think we said the 7th. So we're going to do the 7th. All right. We'll take the 11th off and then we'll add an hour to the 7th if if needed. Okay.

0538:01. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, let me ask you a question. So in August we're doing a Friday, but in February we're doing a Saturday retreat. Yes. To prevent people from having to take off from work. Michael Bales. Yeah. I know, but we could just do the 8th. Oh yeah, that is a work day. Yeah. So would y'all rather try to do the August meeting on on I might be going out of town. Yeah, I don't know I can't do that. Yeah. Yeah, I've already committed. Yeah, yeah. I think that would be all right. So you guys are going to be here on the 7th? >> Yeah. I can be there on the 7th, but I can't >> a problem. That's my business first. Yeah. All right, so are we saying So are Are saying keep it

054on August 7th? Rather than August 8th? August 7th, keep it on August 7th? That would be my preference. All right, so we keep that on August 7th, but we get rid of the 11th. Okay. Okay. And then the other one we're getting ready in February, we're getting rid of the 9th. >> 9th. And we're going to change the retreat from the 13th through from the from the 20th to the 13th. Right? Okay. And was there anything else? And one plus one hour if necessary. Yeah, it's free to water bottles. Hold on. Cuz it looks like in March that meeting falls during spring break. Is that the case? Yeah, that would be your regular board meeting. Don't we usually change it? We usually do have to change that one at that point cuz we because when

055when spring break when spring break is done, famously we all do board meetings cuz school is out. Okay. So we need to either it's going to need to be the 16th. >> 16th. I would prefer it to be the 16th. All right, so March 16th. All right. We'll see. So look, hey, so we get rid of 23rd and it's now in March 16th. And we'd make that be our regular board meeting. Mhm. All right, but then again like we get ready to send this out to uh to the community, we have to make sure that we're letting them know that that is a change for our regular board meeting. Any other uh items on this calendar? So Miss Ross, can you turn around and clean this up? Yes. Chair, has she got Uh do we

056approve this uh with additional changes? Or do we just say that you know what, this is still informational and the next board meeting is when we will approve it? Okay. All right, so yeah, this is going to be so we will not do uh a vote on this to finalize or whatever. Miss Ross will get uh the changes in this calendar, and then what we'll do is Miss Ross, make sure that you add this on to the agenda for our next board meeting for approval. Okay. All right. Let's go on to our next item, our SWSA legislative update. Okay, basically SWSA the Republicans are kind of holding out on the um Avers um 400-year plan of budgeting. Um they're um both um I guess they're trying to increase the amount of money for special education.

057Um however, again, there's no money being given to the general fund. And so it's just going to be tight, and and um just going to see if there was a surplus of money. Okay. Yeah, so there was $2.5 billion in surplus of money. Our Republicans had planned on I don't leaving the basket on Democrats because of the 425 or 3.5 400 years. So everyone's property taxes went up. But at the same token, they put 2.5 in the surplus. And now they can't blame that on the Democrats. So now they want to come to the table, negotiate how to put money in the middle of a biennium in the budget for next year. Uh the legislative uh session ended last Friday with no action, nothing happened because Republicans want to give it uh $500 to single

058people and $1,000 to married couples. And Evers saying they're basically going to buy the election doing that kind of thing. They didn't agree to it. Uh loss. So that the assembly would return for a special or extraordinary session so that they can get together and figure it out because they both want to get property tax relief for taxpayers. They just can't seem to agree on how they get I think so. Yeah, I was about to say cuz I missed Friday. They about took me out Thursday. I didn't even get what they did. But I did I did send the minutes. Yeah. I got I think we did. All right. Thank you for the update on SWUSA. All right. Wise B. Oh, barely. She's not here? Oh, same day. Technically, I almost want to say that's

059We're talking about something that's specifically for Wise B. It almost needs to be a combined report. Yeah, it does. Cuz they're usually the same. Yeah. So, combine them? Well, I mean >> if we can leave it like this for now unless there's something, you know, Yeah, like when we get ready to do our our the the annual meeting and all the rest of that different stuff. So, there may be some things that may be a little different. Uh so, yeah. All right. Uh Parker Break? Yeah, we meet in March. Yeah, okay. So, break meets in March? I think it's first Tuesday. First Tuesday. Okay, let me look at it. I'll miss it though. We just stopped at 6:00. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I was Okay, yeah. And I But my computer is trying to update.

060Uh okay, let me ask you this. The computer up? Yeah, yeah. All right. Uh wait, no. There is no air foundation report cuz there's no air foundation report, right? All right. So, the next thing after that would have been what? Board planning calendar? 30th. Yes, sir. I hope so. Okay. Uh board planning calendar. Uh March 3rd, parent-teacher conferences in person. On the 4th, it's virtual. Uh the 6th is no school. The 24th is our regular board meeting. The 30th through April 3rd is spring break. April 6th school resumes. The 7th is professional learning day, so there's no school. The 14th is our special board meeting. The 16th is April, right? Yeah, April 16th, yeah. Uh is Caesar. We don't have any No, we don't have it. It's not a did did it do those up.

061And then April 28th is our regular board meeting. All right, and that is our board plan calendar. So, that is the rest of March and for April. All right, let's go on to our item School in April. Uh there is no school on April 7th. Yeah. Okay, yeah. And then there's no school March 30th through April 3rd. Okay. Spring Yeah, spring break. Okay. All right, now let's go on to our item number eight. Uh most of you go into uh closed session. Dr. Eedoh, I'd like to make a motion and roll call vote to enter into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 19.851b, the Board of Education may move into closed session for the purpose of a discussion and potential approval of final administrators non-renewal notices, and b approval of November 11th, 2025, December
