president Robinson anyone as of right now and I've posed the question at the start of the meeting okay but we will do as usual we'll give them another 30 seconds just in case someone would like to be able to do that we always want to make sure we give that opportunity for our public to uh make their comment and while we're sitting there waiting does anybody else want to share anything that they that was extraordinary at the uh at the conference or a session that you went to that was extraordinary for the first time at the delegate assembly we did not get through all of the resolutions before our conversation really yes for our recession for our four hours started at 1 30. we could have continued to go probably well into the night but

the only reason it stopped is because we lost more really yes is there any of them on any of the ones that we actually had our question mark simply not we thought for example for me that the voter education which took up about 45 minutes to an hour of discussion really that little word voter education um seemed to really really spur a lot of discussion and in some instances debate uh lots of amendments got presented on probably every resolution of what the first probably 10 resolutions the first resolution came out of the box with a an amendment and we moved to the second resolution and there were maybe two or three amendments then we'd moved to the third and so yeah so basically people were trying to work Smith everything that was kind of going

on or whatever yeah wow so in our very own um board member dorenthia served as the talent time keeper yes so there were two of us in the assembly I was in the delegate seat she was sitting on the diet however you pronounce it and um just keeping time and yeah I did not envy her yeah father caught me in the hallway and said please give a heartfelt thank you to your board member for being a timekeeper herself I'll pass that on to you now wow okay no and the two did not even finish wow so what are they gonna do now since they weren't able to finish it's fun for next year if it gets placed on next year so every so every item now is going to be everything for 12 months from

now yes whatever was left it was only a few left I think but yeah and it happened to be one of the resolutions that had a about 15 parts [Music] um yeah okay all right interesting uh anyone comment all right well right now what we will do is since we do not have any public comment we will public comments we will move forward uh let's go on to our consent agenda but so I'd like to make a motion so I'd like to make a motion to approve the consent agenda including the minutes of the December 6 2022 special board meeting the December 13th 2022 regular board meeting and the schedule of voucher payments via check ACH and why are transfers in the amount of 1 million 918.81 in the general checking account and the food

service account including funds 10 21 27 39 46 50 and 80 and the January 24 2023 school safety drill update as presented all right motion has been made we have a second is that miss making all right motion has been made in the second day uh before we go to vote uh any discussion and you're saying that all in favor will raise hand hand to our eye all right uh any opposed and seeing that most cares you naturally seven two zero all right let's go on to our item number five uh 5B approval of the general education and special education open enrollment scene so uh Mr Clement yeah so uh we took a little while to kind of do our final calculations um I did receive uh the beard model and went through the card

uh survival method to just kind of verify what we're anticipating our uh seats uh children and seats will be next year and um so that's what you see as part of this uh this conversation so as I we talked about it a couple weeks ago um we are seeing obviously a decline in open enrollment in we are same as increase in open enrollment out so while I know that um we feel like we do have a lot of Resident students in the district we also do have the piece where having the extra revenue from support enrollment in students does assists so we've gone from 70 to a couple years ago to 65 54 and now right now we're projecting 41 and we don't admit any additional students next year highly concentrated at 11th 12th grade

and then just a few have sprinkled out down to third grade so after we look at so I did create a new chart for you to show you uh which is the second page of the memo which kind of goes through every grade level we'll inject enrollment to be with our recommended class size would be the number of sections and do the calculations and so when we do that and then the other piece that we're kind of doing is we're using that second last column where I could say seat held these would be new Resident students or it can also be if we happen to peel back somewhere open Roman out and they have to be sitting in our seats that next year um so I wanted to save some of that because as you

know every year we did a study last year which I share with you that every year from September through the course of the year we always see an increase throughout the year so we're always getting new students and we always have the Neti treatments at that point so I want to make sure we leave space for them as well so I'm kind of using this 10 number as as a as a a rough thing um I'm not anticipating 130 students showing up across all grade levels but at any particular grade level having 10 students join us not out of the question so you just want to leave that bumper to some extent but when we do that and then in consultation again with our building administrators we see we really have two grades where we

have some openings due to their class sizes where we have sixth grade class I know last year we were talking about our last week last time I should say we were talking about all of middle school but when we reanalyzed the attendance piece we do expect a little bit of a bump in sixth grade so we're really looking at only seventh and eighth grade as potential spots for open enrollment students six students at seventh grade eight sixth it's seventh grade and ten at eighth grade one of the high school of the elementary school so adding the 16 into the 41 that we were projecting puts it to 57 which basically put us about where we are this year a little bit up so it helps mitigate um and continue to decline in open enrollment in

Revenue what about this fourth grade with the projection of 88 we are looking at potentially being able to have any open enrolled seats oh right now the great fourth grade right now we have one section in in elementary school that has only we have one grade that has four sections right now it's third grade we have about 88 students in that right now um we are projecting to move that for Section grade up to fourth grade so we're not at the point you know if you have if you're when you see the negative number for potential seeds that means you're you're slightly over the average but we would never add another section for just one student but if we get up to you know 10 extra students or something like that then we would look

at adding a section so we'll as we go through the rest of the school year as enrollment starts one of the things that I will have in my back pocket will be another section of a grade but we thought that might happen two years ago it didn't happen we thought it could happen this year it didn't happen so that grade has been pretty consistent so unless we had an influx of of students um we're comfortable with just using four sections that instead of adding a teacher and then having to open a role in a bunch of students to fill that void because again if it does naturally and we have to do it um I need to have also have a large group of open enrollment students in there board members questions so for all

intents and purposes then we're looking at trying to only add 16 open enroll seats that is correct that's all regular education um we wouldn't uh we do a separate motion for the special education where we aren't having we aren't accepting any directly through the special education programs there may be students who apply for regular open enrollment that will have IEPs and maybe get in if we are able to offer services or they may be identified as and you know be evaluated for an IEP once they get here we want to know that it doesn't see the students that get selected so but right now we're focusing on those 16 seats for regular education four members questions for uh Minister clinic in relationship to our open enrollment this is actually two are seeking open enrollment and

we are proposed and we then we have a waiting list we only have to keep waiting lists for grades where we have seats so we don't um you know we will have to we will have hundreds of people apply and we will have people apply for grades which we have no seats and they will use up one of their three they use one of them for us um and I I hear the phone ring every day and Amanda Stewart our registrar explains everybody on FC's don't face to go apply and three districts that would have potential but so for those two grades we would take a we'd have a waiting list for all the kids that were on there but we well we we don't put the list of who's on who's there um I

guarantee you we'll have more names and we will have um we then go through a random draw process for those initial seats and then they and then the rest are put into an order for a waiting list and so we send out for seventh grade we'll send out six letters to those judicial families that you've been accepted they have a certain window to accept if they don't accept they don't respond then they receive give it up when we go to the next person so we will maintain waiting lists for those two grade and all the other grades anybody who applies those levels will just get um letters that we have now thank you any other questions board members any other questions for Mr Clement in relationship to open enrollment projections yet on potential based on

new developments within the Village um if you saw the news a couple weeks ago I know they're talking about another apartment development or by the old Mutual Savings Bank headquarters but I haven't heard what the development is they just talked about residential they haven't been specific as to what kind of development number of apartments or whatever maybe so I I don't have that information and that's certainly probably your plus down the road I will continue to keep an eye on it so and I think that'll probably be one of the things that myself and Dr Brown uh uh Mr Speaker actually you'll be looking at when we have our uh combined meeting with the village uh when the school district and the village have our uh bi-monthly meetings uh to be able to do that

and potentially ask that question as well too so we can stay abreast of it and just in case if there are any of anything where we would think we can end up with potential uh more students coming in because of the apartments yeah we do know right now that we we don't I mean I don't have the exact number but I think it's just a handful of students from you to the Bevy or the green link which are the two new developments in the village um so they're not currently being pieced by families with children in our district so I don't know what what what the uh level of departments or housing I don't know what that'll look like and that may impact whether or not we would see an increase based on whatever opens

up to see how it can be conversation with the village okay all right all right so with that being said uh would something like to make a motion to approve the uh six open enrollment seats for seventh grade and ten for eighth grade regular education we got to do two it's two motions right make a motion to approve six open enrollment seats for seventh grade and ten for regular open enrollment seats for eighth grade for the 23 24 school year all right motion has been made we have a second all right thank you very much Mr Speaker motion has been made second any other conversation in our discussion here in Cena and all in favor will raise hand and or eye all right any opposed Aaron Cena motion carries unanimously 720 and our next uh

motion I would like to make a motion to approve zero special education open enrollment seats for the 23-24 school year all right thank you very much Miss Robertson motion has been made we have a second all right if it's making a seconded uh any other discussion hearing a signal in all in favor will raise hand and or eye all right any opposed here in Santa motion carries naturally seven two three all right let's go on now to our item C our 23 24 4K and our K5 through 12th grade 12th grade instructional calendars uh Dr Kelsey Brown yes yes calendar and provide feedback that we want since we have a to day this Friday we want to run it by stuff one more time for additional feedback and so the idea with these is what

brings back to the board for the February special board meeting for approval Dr Kelsey Brown is there was there any like particular days or was there something that was really that the staff I actually looked at when they saw the instructor both instructional calendars they gave them pause was there anything in particular um question center around the virtual days uh if if you recall our our current calendar that we're working around we had quite a few half half day releases prior to a holiday um and so for us to increase our instructional minutes so we can certain impacts and achievement those half day release days are not are no longer in our calendar so those are full days um there was a question about in August they're not in August when we begin there aren't

consecutive PD days um but we're only allotted five days to pay staff before the school year began and so there's one day in there where staff did not have to report um the idea behind that was staff also have children that they're preparing for school as well so we thought we would give that day if they need to go out and do it now they welcome to come to the district if they want but in preparation for staff who have children we look at that as a day where they could do that um the other piece was um the Middle School start time um was right was right up against the when the kids come like it was a five minute window between the kids coming I mean staff arrival and kids coming um holding

a five minute difference right um and so we changed the the quest for the Middle School start time was 705. so the teachers can get here before they can have some time to be here before the kids and also so Mr Young can have um meetings in the morning so what time does staff actually supposed to report yes maybe now or moving forward moving forward 705. they're supposed to be here 705 and what time does that first bus come in seven 30-ish so does that enough that 20 25 minute window yes that's enough time my kids do pretty good about coming into the buildings and get to where get to where they they need to need to be but those are the major things Dr glass anything else for me Dr glass or Kevin we

just we did add um spring break uh Good Friday and Easter weekend is during spring break next year so we added a holiday day on Monday um during spring break so yeah the Monday that follows Easter will be a good Friday holiday um only having a week for December because they lost one one of the days wow we well for uh first of all we you know next year also has leap year so there's an extra day in that you know we have 100 we have 188 days that we're asking teachers to work that's what we're using as our contracted year and so we have to kind of fill in the puzzle as to what we want to do we also want to make sure we were increasing uh staff our student time um in

in-person instruction so we're up to 172 or 173 days and all the stuff I had um uh for students to be in the building as well so anytime you shift something if somebody wants an extra day off at Christmas well it's like where does that go you know where does that day get added back into College so so we're increasing that we're trying to be you know we we increase the teacher days from 185 and 188 last year we shortened the day itself so we had that um conversation this year so um it's just trying to balance out all those those things we did do you know we did have we did have a year where we had a very long Christmas break but in order took those days back we had to actually do

have they're still getting out the Friday before the Christmas weekend which Christmas I followed up Sunday Monday next year um so there's we're trying to provide some of that but we can't do you have to a big puzzle as to where you pull things from and put them in other stuff how many PD days are we actually looking at now if we if we kind of stay with if it kind of stays the same how many people how many PD days are we looking at other than that um so we have the August PD days uh but for the regular school year so that'd be that four in August right five in August right you have one in September one in October um the next one will be in January I'm sorry so no PB

days in November November November yes November no PD day in January February yes RTS April yes and may yes so is that 11 . oh that's one two three four five in August makes 12. okay I was going off okay all right okay thank you all right any other questions or remember any other questions uh about the instructional calendar and so what we'll have to do if there aren't any questions we'll have oh I'm sorry so one question I was trying to see where it is so removing High School graduation next you it will be June 1st so what caused the shift I'm just curious because it's been that holiday weekend for the last few years well the holiday is on the 27th Memorial Day and so the next Saturday is the first are you

are you suggesting the 20 . yeah that's how it's been so that's why I was wondering what are the shift well part of it is that we had to we had to kick the year out a little bit you know so we wanted to make sure again to have those 172 days so with seniors getting out a week early so they they're taking exams after Memorial Day or and they're done that weekend and then the rest of the students come back and also the restaurant rationale behind Memorial Day weekend remember when we were going off of the uh when we were out for the referendum we got moved that that year and we just stayed with it from work Memorial Day weekend so what the extension is also all right any other questions all right

so with something I can make a motion to table I will make a motion to the table of the instructions instructional calendars until the next board meeting in February but we got to put the 2023 and we had to advocate for it because it's two separate calendars yeah am I doing two emotions then no it's the same motion but I'll make motion to table the 20 23 24K 4K and K5 through 12 instructional calendars until the February special meeting okay all right motion motion has been made do I have a second all right Mr Robinson is a second I mean I'm sorry for making a second all right uh any discussion here in CNN all in favor will raise hand and or eye all right any opposed you can't see none this will be cable

all right let's go on now to our let's see then that would also be D as well too then so right no no no no no no no no no no no no no no he is discussing approval of the 2022-23 okay our students were coming back to school after they would have taken exam The Freshman the sophomore and the Juniors and so uh what we're proposing is the seniors take their exams on May 30th 31st and June 1st which gives us an opportunity to work with some of the students who made like we would be on the cusp to be here you know right over for graduation and then the sophomores and juniors on their instruction will continue and they will take their exams June 2nd 56 and that would end us so for

this year then when is graduation this year congratulations so but you got people taking exams the first and the second seniors so I guess my question then is comes down to our student finals this year are May 30th 21st I'm sorry our student finals for this year are May 30th 31st and June 1st so you still have that Friday for kids who might need to do some makeup and then graduation is June 3rd you always have a few kids in there that just kind of give that extra lift let's get them over I was just wondering in relationship to that to those students that may be right there on that borderline and they need to pass those exams in order to get that credit in order to be able to graduate they have they still

have a second they still have Friday and then graduation is the following day all right so just that just to have our freshman sophomores and juniors set their exams and then that would end their school year rather than bringing them back so do we bring them back in the past um I don't believe you brought him back in time no it doesn't like what kind of instruction would we provide right yeah and that's a different date too because this is that adjustment off of that Memorial Day Weekend yeah that'd be why yeah the last Calendar stopped at Memorial Day weekend so does this impact our oh I'm sorry I'm sorry typically seniors have been done prior to graduation and then the week following graduation is when underclassmen take their exactly they're out of the building

altogether but the way that the graduation calls Mr Peterson you had enough questions we're still meeting our minimum required number of days then with this shift some changes oh why are the um The Freshman the sophomores and my Junior's not they're not coming back either because they're taking their exams at the same time that the seniors are they're going to finish out that yeah okay any other questions let's do sorry about anything else you'd like to be able to add Dr uh all right okay so then I'll make a motion all right relax right I'd like to make a motion um to approve the 2022-23 K5 through 12 instructional calendar revisions as presented all right thank you very much for speaking motion has been made we have a second second all right thank you very

much Miss Ashley all right most of the main second any discussion you can see that all in favor will raise hand and or I any opposed and see another most cares nationally seven two zero all right thank you yeah all right Don let's go on to our next item approval of resignations uh Mr Clement I will make the next three very easy because there are no resignations all right we may still have a retirement at the next one but as of now all right let's go to item number eight a discussion of February 23 Second Friday count all right so you're naturally always named third count Friday so it's Clemy uh what would that be uh Miss class uh well we're we're in the process of completing it um it is in January it's called

the second Friday account it was it took place uh a week ago Friday uh the report is due to DTI this week um the business office is possible cat to counselor our accountant does all of that it's just a little more complicated than the original one because you have to look at where all the students are here in September track all of the ins and outs and then provide that information to the deepcast so all the buildings have done the count we um we she has all of that data and is now working through there's always a very specific questions about specific students making sure that of you know where this student was placed or did they come back or what the situation is so she's working through all that and I don't have numbers

for you yet I'll have that to leave the next meeting and know what we file the PPI for our account and that again discount plus the September account get divided in half and that's part of our average I should say and then um that's what's used for our Equalization aid for next year all right so what's up okay any other any questions any questions for uh Kevin all right let's go on to item I discussion of Neola policy revisions first reading Sarah I don't have any attachment there's no attachment there so I don't know if we definitely so this is the uh the first policy that um we uh so um we've been recommended by a DPI to um to review um this policy um so and it was uh so it's the first policy

that Neola and the Deep guy have combined together um I what it is is it takes um the the older policy and given the new environment um in which um reconsiderations are are happening of both curricular materials as well as instructional and then uh recreational materials in the libraries um it kind of tightens up the processes and the procedures of um you know how those reconsideration policies are made and so um we didn't have necessarily prior to that a a very tight um a process and so what this does is this kind of fully articulates the the method through which if a challenge um or request for reconsideration uh was made of the process then that we'll go through and it just articulates um the complaint you know that process where somebody would would have

a concern then that concern then would come to myself and then I'd go to Dr Brown and then potentially the final reconsideration would be at the board level so um it just kind of you know tightens up that whole process and not um and I think that the biggest concern was that in those districts that are in news that are receiving those challenges um they don't have processes or procedures um articulated well and so Neola did a really great job of trying to to get ahead of that and so um so again I like I said before this is the first policy that Neola and DPI have collaborated on um in terms of library see and so it's um it's it's good it's good okay so I I guess my I guess I want to

go to that last page where see because one of the things that we also know has been a little bit of a Lighting Rod in relationship to library materials and uh certain materials being able to stay on the shelves and other items that have been said no we are uh we're taking those off so within this policy and the way that this is being read There is the building level principle first that says I just want to make sure that I'm that we're going through this correctly building level principle first comes up what works with their committee to say these are is that kind of how this is how this written it reads that the building level principle actually starts this off if there is an issue of relationship to any of the materials out

of there I think that it depends on where the where the where so it could possibly go to I don't know what what page are you looking on um administrator find receipt of the formal compliance itself insisted the following rights right so the procedure reconcilion committee will be as filed the chairperson will be the building level principal or designee then the secretary of the committee will elect be elected at the first meeting the chairperson will call that be within 10 business days formation of the committee blah blah blah Skippy move forward that committee will make a recommendation that recommendation goes to the uh admitter that goes to the uh superintendent and then whatever that recommendation does goes to comes out to the board or proof I just wanted to make sure that it read that

way did everybody else read this thing the same way that I just read it so what would happen is if the if someone filed complain and um so this is all in line with uh commentary around critical race Theory and what that is and what that means in school districts but so if this were to come our way the way that Steve interpreted it for us because we're on this car with Mr Bloom right is we at the discretion of the district administrator I would formalize this committee comprised of these individuals to investigate that particular book video account whatever whatever it is so I don't think there's this it didn't appear to me and what I heard from Steve it's not a chain of command here it is formulating a committee that can consist of

these individuals um who are noted in this document right and I think it was and I'm and again I I apologize have you ever really seen that what it looks like on the other end so um but I think it was it was really it's option three that we that we chose so um to proceed with um and so it uh it goes you know the policy of reconsideration goes through the library media specialist then because you have the lineup so option three is the option that you guys would like to do yes so which is which runs a little different so and I think because in our district we are fortunate enough to have a librarian media specialist who needs building they are highly qualified certified individuals with master's degrees um and teaching certifications

you also have the luxury of having me who is the District Library director um with an administrator's license who's able to then kind of oversee create those policies and so what happens then is then yes that is the general flow typically it goes to um to the librarian myself and you know and then the principle becomes aware and then um what we try to do is resolve the matter you know um informally um and um and then if it's not you know resolved informally then there's a whole process that they that they need to go through it's a written form that they have to do they have to read the request in its entire priority um and then you know and then usually typically that's where it where it fails like so they and that's

typically is where most reconsideration requests cease is because they don't read that in its entirety and then nor do they actually make a formal written um and so um and then at that point you know they answer all of those pieces there and um and then if we cannot you know get to that point then again within 30 days um you know there is immunity to the board through the through a request to the district administrator um so then on the next revision of this will options one and two be taken out it would yeah so um but I think that's where um and I can I can share with you kind of like what are what we tightened up in terms of our language and our terminology um so like what we would like

the policy to look like so um in terms of those options that we chose striking out those other other comments or those other options there to show you what the full policy would look like minutes but Neola gives you kind of like it's the most um I think kind of loose you know and then it and then it's kind of more tightened up and formalized and and you know so it gives you options like you can check option one option two option three and you can go through each you know each block you know and suggest that so what you're seeing is all of those those options together to the board tomorrow what we chose I know Steve marked it up remarkable yeah so and I and I have that as well so I apologize

for not reading that so um but yeah and we we have that um identified specifically you know which recommendations you know we do and again the the end result is that we you know again trying to make sure that we we honor the concern um and that they're heard and that we try to come to an understanding as to why you know we have a whole selection policy we have a criteria through which we select library and instructional materials um and those funds you know often are perceived sometimes and explanation explaining where you know those dollars come from they're not necessarily taxpayer funds they're through the common School fund you know and things like that and so you know kind of trying to come to it from that end but then also then you know

having just a determined process that in the end you know we um you know ultimately information is presented to the board the board and then um and then that decision stands for you know three to five years I think we did three three times that's correct so that nobody else can consider is that item again you know for you know for a period of three years so board members questions foreign tomorrow in order now to be in the uh agenda item for the next board meeting which will be the second race so you'll see the final revision and then hopefully anything anything within this first reading that you saw that would give you pause to make you say you know what is there something else that we'd like to be able to add into it

foreign but always be aware that when we ever have these informational items if you have certain questions or certain things that you would like to be able to get added to and or taken out this is the perfect opportunity to be able to get that done now before the second reading well first readings have to be approved so if you are doing it for the street you know looks like with option three or if you're comfortable and then you'll have a second opportunity to see it in full with any revisions you know would be all right let's move forward uh board reports I'm sorry are we looking for the first reading to appear again before yes so then that way we can approve and then the second will go on the final February board agenda

right are we on are we under any kind of a timeline or anything with this Mr um no sir so I think um obviously you would I and I I say every day and I was at a season Network meeting you know um today that I am so fortunate to be employed in a district where I have a boards that trusts in in us and myself and my staff um and we have um a preponderance of the community that trust in us and what we do and and what we provide for our children so um there's you know there's we can get it done and we can do the first reading we'll get to the revisions you can do the first reading at the next meeting and then you know and then and then the

following meeting yeah that's fine so so no no need to rush but I'm I'm not anything I'm concerned about and Mr you already have you already have like a committee already in place that you would utilize just you know in order so and so what the policy does take the nature or Department member it's the principal and the district administrator it would be myself um and then a um you know and then it could be you know another board member or whatever so it like it pulls that committee together it's articulated in the policy so we're the director teaching and learning be part of that committee as well too since it could potentially be something a relationship to learn just Library materials so there's a whole other policy that we're going to talk about you

know instructional materials and that's where Dr glass would definitely play um a bigger role if it were related to an item that was in The English Department curriculum and we had you know like something like that then yeah we would if there so there's a district administrator that is on that committee whether I would represent the library media specialist role in Dr glass would be the administrative role that probably um would sit in on it because I think that anything that we put in front of children is educational where there's content related um entertainment so yeah that was kind of what my thought was in relationship to that or whatever because you also got to remember when students go in and they do their research on certain things or whatever have you what do they

do they go to they go to our library and do those other different things or whatever stuff so I don't know I mean I guess it's probably better to have more people than than less so all right okay thank you all right let's go on to our next item or will you I'm sorry Brown what you think okay thank you all right and then thank you very much Miss Turner for that update all right uh board reports are swsa and legislative update I did listen [Music] money and that's pretty much the summer I have one I hear on all these meetings um that's pretty much it yeah everyone's trying to figure out how to get more money for their district and how to spend it thank you very much Miss Walker all right uh our

wilesby I don't know I have a whole heck of a lot without repeating one Dr Kelsey battles sex work good around their District and can you mention the market I mean the day of the capital they gave a date did you guess they did and I think it was I don't want to put the wrong date out I felt like February sorry I do not have the date I don't want to give you the wrong information okay we can get that for us and then also I want to kind of give a quick little updating relationship too remember we were talking about the Board Writing and creating and potentially working with other um school districts to be able to you know draft letters and being able to do that I said to legislators uh just

kind of letting you know um need to maybe potentially pause on working with other school districts in relationship to what we'd like to be able to draft uh the relationship to our letter and being able to do that so I just wanted to uh had a conversation um with wise be in relationship to us moving forward with that thank you very much Miss Ross for uh giving me that information and everything like that and um yeah we'll we'll move forward but we'll actually just be we'll do our own letter uh and that will send out but even if we don't partner with another District this wise we have any temporary Source adjusted they they have they have some things that that we could potentially that we could use uh we just need to be make

our decision making through diligence when we draft this letter so and I'm wondering in terms of the timing of the board members on the capitol March is this something that we would want to I would like to go legislators right I would like to be able to put our letter together and have ours together by officially mid-February and being able to do that at least have it in dryer form uh and what I would like to be able to do is is for all of us to have that input in relationship to this letter that we create so actually potentially that could be a board agenda item that we do to approve our letter that we will uh that we'll send out shouldn't be part of our treat y do we have enough time it

will it be enough time within that and within our Retreat because we got it set is it still eight to twelve three hours is that enough to I don't know if that's enough time to uh be able to do that um when somebody else actually want to work with me in order to start coming up with a draft favorite anybody else I think Dr Brown did we get something from us right swrc had a couple drafts or something yes and finalized today oh okay right with the board so three essential items that most districts are asking the majority of the district sounds like they're asking for our increased Dollars around mental health increasing the teacher pipeline and um I'm just going to add if uh when the day of the capital comes up this will

be the first year granted we don't have a state senator who's uh agent right now I don't know if we're talking sorry please wait a minute because I think of her Darlings well with her resignation uh Taylor Senator Taylor is right but you have what I was going to say is usually you had one assembly person and one Senator and you could hit both meetings with yeah with one group but you're gonna have it well at three this time and in the future it'll be four and most districts that have the multiple um multiple uh Representatives have to meet with they have to split up so you know if more people are available to you know at least you'll probably have to hit both assembly people separately however they time it up but with having

to do an additional meeting or additional two meetings eventually um the more folks I can go I'll be better March 22nd yesterday Wednesday the capital it's Wednesday March so today the capital is capital capital what day of the week is that Wednesday so it's Wednesday March 22nd yes all right um budget so that usually I want to say 8 30 you're meeting in Madison at the convention center usually all right you go through um you go through the morning and then usually lunch and then the afternoon when you schedule those meetings so um whether you are there for the whole thing or you come apart the meetings that's at the traditional schedule all right sounds good all right can we let's go on to item see our Education Foundation report um just kind of business

as usual right now with donations coming in I'm getting wrapped up for the scholarship season I'm starting here in a few weeks and um yeah working on still working on building our board is a few members are rolling off the board this year so you know anyone who's interested who may be uh want to contribute to the Education Foundation definitely let us know all right thank you very much Miss Robinson and last not least our park and rec reporter January unique January's meeting was canceled however the next meeting will be held on February 7th at 6 30. and so I do plan on being in attendance all right thank you very much all right let's go on to our item number seven our board planning calendar uh 27th of January because of PL day uh

January 30th strategic planning meeting at Concordia our two Representatives will be there and if you can remember to um if you could uh give us a nice little report synapses or synopsis on what was uh taking place to be able to share with the board we made that a part of the board packet um February 8th the brown day athletic uh booster club meeting uh is that the Brown Deer uh North Carmen's at 6 30. it's February 10th is another uh PD day uh February 14 special board meeting oh we did this on Valentine's Day okay all right since the flowers early I guess I celebrate that weekend so February 14th we have our special school board meeting um February 15th and 16th uh evening parent-teacher conferences the 15th as well as our joint meeting

with the village of Brown Deer uh and the school district at 5 p.m February 17th sorry uh no school February 25th is our winter board retreat from 9 to 12 February 27th our strategic planning meeting at Concordia again with our two representatives and the 28th is our regular uh board meeting at six six o'clock P.M okay I have a question so this time we're not gonna do any morning conferences they'll both be on those nights 15th and the 16th right it says evening parent-teacher conferences so so our all of them all in person or is there no virtual options this time first evening will be in person the second evening okay you've never had I don't I don't ever become having gay conferences I've been here it was like yeah maybe that was elementary when

they were little little okay fours well no I mean we didn't do K4 here but they had it was a couple years but I think everybody just kind of smoked away from that team in the daytime so that first day is in person and the second day is virtual okay all right I just wanted to make sure everybody's got Clarity in relationship to that there's no hybrid but the teachers were still on site but they were doing their virtuals so they sometimes teachers were doing virtual from the seat but they're also taking people oh if the teacher shares that I mean they were still in the gym so it was still like thinking right and if the teachers can make it work we're here to accommodate the needs of the parents and so if you're

in the gym and you got a Chromebook and somebody can do virtual and it's just like the time works that's that's perfect when does the um did we open up for the when do we open up for Mickey Mouse assignments um so I have to check with you I mean we're probably was little we just needed to finish the the accounts and stuff like that so but it'll probably be open typically that first week in February so I'll get a couple weeks to do that okay all right let's go on to our item number eight motion and roll call vote to go into closed session uh with someone like to make a motion I moved to enter and the closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 19.85-1 c e and f the board may move
