Item four, approval of the agenda. Got a motion by Kaiser, a second by Coin. Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> Motion carries. Item five, approval of the minutes from the February 17, 2026 meeting. Motion by Ber. >> Second by Zebra. Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. Motion carries. Item six, student board report. >> How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> What did you do for the last two days off? >> Uh, scholarship and portfolio. >> Let's see. Is there anything you don't do? I saw your name on the >> study. Very good.
>> Good. Good. >> All right. Good evening. My name is Ruby and I'm thrilled to share with you the successes of Mos students past month. Everyone has been busy with sports clubs and college and career readiness requirements. Students winter test was a huge success. From February 23rd 27th, there were dressing days and activities to raise student. On Tuesday, seniors competed against teachers in Anor where seniors were ultimately crown champions. On Wednesday, students took to the stage to participate in a talent show. The week ended with a volleyball tournament where different classes seniors competed against the teachers. It was a fun week to be a part of. The student summit is already busy playing. Skills USA sent a group of students in the W. Stout competition from February 26. They came back with valuable positive feedback
and some hard earned friends. The groups was the competition for real, perseverance, dedication, and as always, they had a lot of fun and they mostly dance teams to showcase February 28th. High school and middle school members performed solos and group dances to audience and middle school gym celebrating the end of the year. Afterwards, they had a banquet where letters and awards would be choir students competed at the solo and ensemble competition on March 7th. They spent many weeks practicing and perfeed on March 7th with a loss against excuse my pronunciation. Yale entry >> most people >> with the final score being 81 to 75. They want to thank the seniors for their leadership, tenacity, and ownership of their roles. Track season has officially started on March 9th. We can't wait to see what they accomplish
this season. The forensics team competed at the district competition on March 10th and every single person is moving on to state. Girls basketball also went to state for the first time in 20 years. In a competition number one ranked Pittsburgh on March 12th, our team fought bravely, ultimately losing 63. But their experience was divided more than by a winner or loss. The team explained that they're all best friends and they are encouraged by the bond they built through the season. Many Muslim students and teachers attended the meeting and the remaining students at the school cheered along from a watch party in the auditorium. Overall, it was a very unique experience for the school and we're so proud of everything they accomplished. The visual arts club, otherwise known as spent weeks preparing for their competition on
March 13th, but it was unfortunately canled is currently known as a university student. High school mentors from the drama middle school drama club helped out with field junior shows from March 12th through 14. Through this experience they learned a lot about leadership and taking charge of individual projects they can come together to create incredible shows. Students in 9 through 11 will be taking the preac tomorrow during school day and seniors are busy finishing up their scholarship applications. Originally due Friday March 13th they're now due tomorrow. Finally, senior portfolios are due for Friday, fresh. >> Teachers, the seniors, >> from what I remember, it was the seniors were losing and then there was like a oneoint. >> Anybody any questions? Thank you. Item seven, special presentation. A discussion presentation by host community athletic association. Bruce is
here for that. >> Thank you for giving some time here. I'm Bruce Jamrose. I'm the treasure with the Mos Community Athletic Association. Just thought I'd give you a brief update of what's happening out at the Mos Athletic Complex. Uh don't know how much you have in the packet, but I did put together >> few pages there. Um Mosley Community Athletic Association. We've been in existence since 2006. Uh so we're celebrating 20 years. No big thing, but um we're still going. Um we're trying to develop the Bosian letter complex, which is right next to the boulevard there. Um we completed three fields right now to date. um obviously the turf field um the football field which is being used by most needed football and then a brand new softball field which just got completed in 2025.
Um the JD team plays out there right now. Our current project is a press box which is going to be on top of the dugout. There's going to be some storage up there that's on page two. Uh we did have a community business that stepped up recently to pay for that. So like to thank Valley Valley Community Credit Union for this addition that we're working on. Hoping to have that ready for the season. Um our next project is going to be a concession stand which will be in the middle of the clover leaf that we have out there. You look on the map. Um we're going to hopefully start fundraising for that in 2027. So we might get that in front of you to um see if there's any funding that we can provide for
that. Um, obviously we're going to go out to community foundations and and some other businesses hopefully to um raise funds for that project. Um, right now we do not have any bathrooms out there. Um, and we do not have a concession stand for we have portable concess portable toilets and a portable concession stand, but we're looking to get something more permanent out there um for all three fields and for the additional hope to build in the future. Um the last thing I want to just touch on again is the Mos softball field that we built the M softball field. Um we had planned to build this before co and then a co game prices increased had to do some more fundraising. Um but it is done now and it's being used. Uh, part of the
thing that I wanted to make note of is that we used Skills USA to build the dugout roofs and Mosie manufacturing students build the benches inside those items. So, we did try to get the students involved as much as possible. There's some pictures there. Um, we do have a Facebook page with information if you'd like to look at that. And then on the final page of this document, I've got all the other people that supported who were partners of the project. So, you can look at that. So thanks to the thanks to the school just wanted to give you that update there's anything else if you haven't gone over there just to see the links. All right. Item 7B, discussion of fiddle screen presentation. Thanks for having us. Um, >> so a couple guests with
me tonight to help talk through um and showcase some of the things happening at the middle school. So in addition um to the great academic things that we have going on wanted to share some things that go a little bit beyond um and build our middle school culture and infuse some of the things along into the academics but also into the opportunities that that we're creating for our kids. So, I'm actually going to start uh by reading you that I received uh because I know that you don't have the opportunity to walk through the hallways of the middle school under the other. So, um I received this email Sunday, February 1st, and it says at 7:03 p.m. It says, "Hi, Kate. I wanted to reach out regarding an interaction with some of your sixth grade
girls at a Shano Invitational Girl. Our Pilaski team played against a a group of three to four of your players approached our daughter to say hi and compliment her on her maintenance. This probably sounds like a pretty unimportant thing to reach out to the school principal for. Our daughter has Down syndrome and uses a walker. I can honestly say that in the years of attending girls middle school basketball, this was the first time kids came up to be so friendly and kind to me. I was very impressed and clearly Jennifer Holmes. Um I don't remember where Jennifer lives. I am not entirely sure. I I have never actually communicated with her. I did respond um and was grateful for her for her email. This is also how I opened our February um assembly for our
middle school students. So, ironically, the character trait of the month uh for February was kindness. And I know it's kind of small, but one of the things that we have done this year and have worked pretty hard to establish is knowing that we are working on academics and recruiting for gains in that area. We also know that we're trying to create good humans that are productive members of our community and our society. Um and we know that these things are are important. So um every month we have established a character trait of the month and we do activities we infuse things um kind of around. So that's we have a committee that kind of comes together to develop a checklist so to speak of things we try to um to have the teachers then take
into the classroom and do with the students throughout the month. So sometimes it's an activity, sometimes it's a service learning project. It really just depends. Um we try to kind of change it up. Um, our goal eventually would hopefully be able to reach out um to the elementary. I know this year has been kind of crazy, but that has been the goal and we we hope um to see that in the future. But again, our goal um in doing so is just our ability to raise good humans and continuing to kind of put that message in the kids. It's twofold. It's not just one. Yes, you're here for the academic part and that is so important and there there are things that we need you to do here, but also being a good human and
being part of our um community and culture within our building um we continue to come back to and almost every conversation we have with kids on the daily. So, super important to us. Um a part of that then is our student of the month. So, um we changed things up just a little bit. We still recognize kids on the monthly and what we do is we we turn it back to that trait of the month. So in the month of February we were looking for kindness. So every teacher in the building gets the opportunity to nominate a student. Um the kids don't know if they get nominated or not. That was a little change from last year. So they sit in the audience and they wait for their name to be called. Um so everyone's
kind of on the edge of their seat hoping that their name gets called and they get to be um recognized by the entire student body. So they come across the stage, they get their certificate. Um, and then we're able to just show how grateful we are for the great things they're doing. Um, and again that comes back to the different character traits throughout the month. So um, you know, we had one on empathy. We had one on giving back. November we did a race, we did, um, a food drive where we asked the different um, TAs to collect food. um they got a point for every food and then the TA with the most food won a reward or a prize. I think it was a donut party or they got to kind of pick
and choose. Um but then all of that food was don donated within our community to families in need um during that season. So again, just a way to encourage um our kids to be good people in their community. Another thing that we did around the kindness is our students. We did a service learning project. So, we took a handful of them and and it's hard because we can't always take all what 500 of them um and do something, but kind of pick and choose different groups and um different kids to be parts of different things. And and then in this situation, they they wrote some notes and delivered them to members of the community, just telling them how awesome they are. Um and what a great treat when you get to your car and there's
a note there to say, "Hey." Um especially if you're having a really rough day. The best part is is there were interactions throughout that where we had high school kids going and interacting with them saying, "Oh my gosh, you left this on my car. That's the sweetest thing ever." And just to even see some of our high schoolers taking on that role and be able to connect with kids is really cool. So, um, this is definitely not all-encompassing, but I just wanted you to see some of the opportunities that our students at middle school have to get involved uh that are also connected to those character train. every opportunity that we have whether it's a club or activity or athletics um something new to this year which are highlighted in yellow on this next slide.
So same same information just the yellow ones are are new to the middle school this year um are grounded in those character traits and as we are working with kids whether it's in the cross school or whether with our student ambassadors um we're like like Seth said we're bringing it back to those traits all of the time. Um, so I'm actually going to pass it off to Miles and Emma to kind of talk through some of the the ones that are in yellow and just kind of give you some information on um on what those five opportunities kind of encompass for our students. So, uh, recently in the beginning of the year, one of the guidance counselors in the middle school, um, Mrs. will brought together multiple students from each of the grades and basically
just told us about a new program started called the ambassador program and it just started out as something smaller like helping the new students that were coming into our building making them feel welcome where they maybe were a little uncomfortable. Um and as we saw it go on we saw that it needed more and it quickly grew to helping students that were below us who maybe needed a little more mentorship teachers who maybe feel a connection with students. Um, one of the big things we did was after Christmas break, uh, we got together with the fourth graders with all the energy. The eighth grade student ambassador team created a slideshow engagements in return. Being ambassad was a new thing this year. We did not do it last year, but it was something that we did
after our Veterans Day assembly um on Veterans Day. Uh what it really was was after the Veterans Assembly, the veterans who um came to the assembly, we got to they invited them back into the lunchroom for lunch on us uh with uh with their kids or relatives or whoever. Um then we did this so that uh the students could practice the characteristics that we tried very hard to maintain. One of the biggest ones was not up there but it's communication. It's communication communicating with people that you may not normally communicate with. It's um trying to make a good connection with somebody you may not know. Um and yeah, that's that's about it. It was just very nice uh a nice way to connect with the community and make them feel welcome. Twice a week, sixth
graders together and each other. This helps the students know their character traits and allows sixth graders to be mobile students and this helps both students build confidence. Doing this helps the students. It helps the students. Another thing we do just like the reading buddies is uh student mentorship. So obviously there are different different needs in the buildings and those students have different needs and sometimes those students have disabilities. So here um this is uh one of our seventh grade students talking with one of our fourth grade students. Um and this is just something to build a connection with a student you may never talk to or may never even met in your life. And uh as we started this you can see behavior starting to become better because the students know that if they behave
better in class then they are guaranteed to have uh time with the people that they cherish with. So, um, if you behave better in class, like if you're behaving good in class, then you get time to go to a puzzle with a student or you get time to go to a board game with a student and it just helps uh break up their break up their day and make their day go a little faster so they are items that students get for doing what staff asks them every day. In order to work the proud store, students had to apply and their application had to be accepted. Every kid that applied got a chance to work at their store. They have a schedule and you have to show up on time to do their job. These
concepts help students become excited about doing their job and students can choose to study the concepts or save them to their exams. So I I think one of the things um for community out there is one of our one of the things that we come back to at once. Um and the examples that Emma and Miles talked you through, we definitely all build that middle school community and they're building connecting our older students and younger students. We are unique and that we have fourth graders in the same building with eighth graders. So we really we worked really hard to find ways to to leverage that opportunity and turn it into a wonderful thing and model those A3 students um who are our role models and we lean on them uh quite a bit to just
kind of show them the ropes and um just be a really positive influence overall. Um anything else? Um, I will say walking into school as an eighth grader for the first uh for the first day this year, um, right off the bat, I could tell the changes with people being more upbeat, more positive. I just want to say not even just graduating. Any questions? Great job with your presentation. I just had one on the student mentor program. How many mentors do you guys have ever? >> Three at the moment. >> Yeah. Is it a one to one ratio? One mentor for every student. >> And it really comes down to a need. So in that situation, um a schedule change needed to happen. We had some times that we needed to fill and and we
often go back to how can we involve other kids in this process. Um and again because it is unique that we have fourth through eighth grade um we have those opportunities and and I think it just gets them ready for the next step right when they go to high school and um they're full of these things that they can be a part of that will fully leverage we kind of have to create that sometimes at that level but do all of your sixth grade students not all so a select group of of students um and it's connected to uh reading books actually the students who are reading both letters building fluency or building um you know comprehension skills. Um so partnering them to have a a space that they can read out loud to somebody
who doesn't feel as intimidating that's not in front of an entirely classroom. portray or feel um just creates a different app. >> Thank you. >> It's awesome. Item 7 C discussion technology annual presentation. All right. Are you considered doing a presentation? >> So, um, a lot of people are like they wonder what I do. They just hand out Chromebooks and make the internet work and the internet doesn't work. They're just calling me like today. So um I just wanted to put some numbers and um talk about what is all behind us and what we uh have here in Mosi. So in the top left corner the operation by the numbers. So we have about 2,000 students and 300 employees and we maintain that all those accounts um in all the different programs. I looked up
how many help desk tickets we had in the last year and that was 2,22 help desk tickets that we um Martha has completed. There's a numerous undocumented um support as well. There's 2,613 managed computing devices. And you might be like, well, that's more than the number of users, but um the teachers have a Chromebook and a laptop. I have more than one device. Um we have the labs in different spots. Um so students at elementary have computers, but then Chris has computers. So there and then there's just computers maintaining different things. So, that's our fleet of devices. Um, I was just going through our software the last few weeks to evaluate what they need to review. And there's 98 different types of software that we support and set up throughout the year. Um, those are
instructional pieces of software that kids log into and a lot of them are operational pieces of software like our camera system or Skyward. And then there's a lot of systems that you probably haven't heard of, but they run different things in the back side >> on that one because that one's surprising really quick to start to cut you off. Do you know how many times like some of those are logged into like do you identify ones that you're like, we use this? >> Yeah. 6 months. >> Yeah, we have looked at that. A lot of these a lot of them are operational. I have a breakdown. Some of them are sped specifically. We have just for certain kids. >> Okay. So, um, and there's quite a few that are just for elementary school or maybe
there's a a software that we set up for AP biology, but nobody else. So, there's 281 phone extensions. I had to specifically look that up because we're licensed for 300 and we're adding, I think, 17 to the new addition. So, we're getting real close there on the number of phones um in our system. And then on the right block there, the infrastructure and hardware, we have 49 switches and 143 access points. So the two core switches are in the library. Um and then there's different switch closets throughout the district. Um I'm excited to actually close now because that's another whole building to maintain across town. Um, so if we actually close that down, um, that'll be nice to, um, not have to maintain the the line we have out there and everything set up. On
the other side of town, we have 18 servers and 23 battery backups, one of which did not work today when Steve decided to change the power. It should have stayed running, but he didn't tell anybody. But okay, because it should have stayed running and it didn't. So, we're going to have to check the battery back on one of our closets. Um, but all of our servers and and uh switches have battery backups. So, in the event of a power outage, our phone stays working for a few hours. Um, there's 137 interactive displays. So, those are the touchscreen um TVs in every room. So, we kind of went away from projectors and smartboards and they just have smart TVs and then 28 TVs just like in this room. It's just a TV. It's not a touch.
We have 111 cameras and 25 door access controllers. That is also going to increase with the new addition. We're adding a lot more cameras and cyber security and data privacy. So on average, we block about 960 spam emails a day and over 3,000 risky signins or malware attempts are blocked. Um that's what the numbers came out in our Sentinel one which is our our anti virus says it's blocking that much. We have MFA and staff training. So MFA is the two factor set up on all of our financial accounts and our Gmail accounts. So people not only need their password but they also need a code to get into. We have mandatory annual training and monthly fishing tests. So that means every month it sends out a test um and if you fail that test
you additional training. We have multi-layer protection um level filtering. So students have um different filtering levels. Most students are in what we call green which means they have access to all the things um outside of gambling and some things that we would obviously belong for all kids. But then we have a yellow filter which kids um are more restricted. And then we have the red filters stop there. Firewall anti- virus endpoint detection. Endpoint detection um is really important because usually when something happens, it doesn't happen during school hours. It's outside of school hours and so it is monitoring our system for anything that malicious and then it alerts us right away. Um student safety and screen time. So, I know there was a question recently about screen time and I looked into it even more.
Securely recently bought a third party um it's called and they incorporated it into their digital safety suite and we have access to it and they retitled it reveal. We had to push that out to all of our student Chromebooks and then have those kids restart it and then it'll start monitoring their screen time and we haven't had the kids here all here in a week and we had we had it set up for a few days before that. So I don't have um data for you right now but I will have data for you that I plan to bring back to you next month because we did push that out in the last couple weeks and have it set up. It has a little dashboard you can major projects on the horizon. So, um, I'm
really excited about these. We have infrastructure rewiring. So, if you were to pop open our ceilings, you would see trays running down the hall that are full of wires. They have the old phone system. They have coax cables. They have Cat 5. We need Cat 6 in order to CAT 6A to run all of the new access points and switches. So, we're basically, and we can't add more cables on top because it's a structural problem. If you see what was in the ceiling, it's just a mess of cables. So, we're basically cleaning house and rerunning new cabling. That was part of the the big project. Um, so that's going to be um there's going to be times this summer where you don't have internet in certain parts of the building because they're building all the
cable out. The next thing is a new IPA system. So, that's a paging and announcement system. So, that's going to be installed in the middle school and high school. It's going to run all the logs and it's going to be a big security upgrade because our current DA system is um not functioning properly to say the least. It's a real problem. So, I'm really excited about that upgrade. We're doing a walk through actually later this week um to figure out places in all the speakers and that should be installed this summer. Um, there's $376,000 in federal rate money that has been secured for our district to be spent over the next 5 years. A chunk of that will be spent on the reabling and then getting some new switches and access points for the new
addition, but we have 5 years to spend that. And that way that is set up is um that budget is um a 50% federal funded by the federal government and 50% funded by us. And we have a district-wide printer refresh this summer. So, we're getting new printers and copers districtwide. We're at the end of our cycle with Neo Johnson. And Brent always purchased old printers or copers and we actually have a deal with Rico. They have special pricing that is um they're on sale and it's going to be I think the first time our district has had actual new ever. I'm pretty excited about that. I don't think yet, but we'll see when they when they show up if they actually don't work. >> All right. Um, and then the bottom is just our goals
in general. So, our department goals, those haven't changed, but basically the first two are instructional goals. They're about instruction, professional learning, and they're on the instruction side of the house. And then the other two are operational, and they deal with hardware, infrastructure, support, maintenance. So, Our next question are those secure just only certain people can get in the lock. >> They're in all our switch closets. So it's us and maintenance usually the only people who can get in. Is there any way anybody else could get in? I'm hoping with the new um reheating that they only are keed to the master key. >> There is actually there's one switch that really wears in the elementary school because it is open where the coffee machines are and everybody kind of has access to that. Everything else
>> just I know you have another question. I just want to jump in real quick. brought up rekeying. One of the things I said since day one I wanted to get part of this building project was to re key the district. Um so tomorrow we have the meeting with uh keying company to re key the entire district. So we don't have three master keys per building. We are carrying around nine and 10 keys just to get in. So, we're going to re key everything in the district with the exception of the older part of the middle school because the door of it required now changed to it. So, just to eliminate some of the cost of that uh update, we're going to do everything but that session and I know conversations with the PD they're
pretty excited about it because now they have to try to figure out what door they have to go in a door in a crisis. They have to figure out which master key goes to which door. Now they'll be able to have one master key that opens all of the interior doors across the entire district. >> The only other question I had was with the doors. Is there any way any doors be open to get into the building or get to our >> um so there is um anytime a door is propped open there's screens in the office and you're learning. Yeah. And it turns from green to red key ways and Steve you might I don't know how much you were involved in that this kind of conversation when you were out but the keyway
is not is part of yeah is not part of the lock now it's a separate keyway so it would have to be part of the knob so it would require basically a whole door and a whole knob system probably at least 30 or 40 >> we just do the sleeves inside then the rest of the doors we just have to replace the keyway which is just the wrong cylinder that's in town. We have a plethora out there in Kiwi, too. So, that's a problem. So, we've got to get this manable. >> I think eventually is to maybe not use some of those areas in the middle school like I can't run wires in the walls, right? Wires on the outside integ. >> Yes, I have I have questions. Yes. Okay. So, are we scrubbing um
the unused license at all that let's say Stanford uses certain softwares? Are we using any of it? Yes, I I I went through all of my software and I sat down with um Tom and looked at all the instructional software and I still have to sit down with Brian to review all of the software that also um in terms of I know I've asked this historically but ransomware what what are we doing in place for potential ransomware attacks? So we have Sentinel one which is our endpoint detection and it monitors all of our devices. So it's kind of like it's like your Android that used to be on all your stuff. So that is on all of our laptops and there's a it sends out alerts there actually goes through that and then alerts us
and then it comes up. Okay. Have we had any potential close calls at all or is 71 been pretty good at at keeping everything at bay? >> We have had like devices we have like we have not had anything that we know that's gotten into our system. And then my final question is about grant that we applied to go for any recently any IT grants to help with infrastructure or or um um just extra devices for students, things like that. >> And so um the Matt actually just applied for one color. Um and so I don't for that one yet. >> We applied for a cost grant and did not get it. that would help pay for the u >> we're reapplying for that one. >> Okay. Have we looked at all and I don't
even know if it is like it looks to our transcript but the DPI one that's due June 6th for a education grant. Have we looked at basketball? >> Yes. >> It's an application package for information technology education. So I think our certain school district >> I assume all of our security cameras they all use the same software around all the schools. crowd. Each school uses the same. >> Is any of that AI yet or is that all? >> No, it records um all we tried one time to only record motion but it would turn on after the event. So we just record all the time. We tell we have so adding more cameras that some of the cameras we have turned up to resolution. One last maybe you're probably included in all this cyber security
for >> usually about now I get an email from the manager that has >> Thank you very discussion construction update. Couple quick items for you folks. Um first of all, project schedule is one most important. Um the building project building itself is on schedule. Now the snow we just had is going to push back very exciting probably doing that in April, first week of April, but we'll see what the major brings us. So that's just kind of in flux. Um currently we're working on a lot of finishes. So painting has begun and the twotory section is spraying up the upper part with some new steel. Um and also ice received their final ceiling. The plates are going so that start to take some nice shape. Um my air compressor is here that's going to the
shop area. So as soon as that gets placed we'll have electric connection to it. It's going to ser shop that area. So that is actually uh happening as a state. Um actually as well we're hoping maybe next week if all goes well they will bring a crane in here. We'll be sending all the rehack units all the exhaust and all the rooftop units. So that's a great day when that gets set. Um then I can get all gas pipe electric up to a curb. So those things can actually go and then get that AC energiz. Um and then also in the main area the twotory section um we're open in a couple weeks at the flooring contract starting. So right now our contract really work hard to get that stuff done that area of upper
heavy side work because once that tile is laid you're off that so we know they have to get out for all kinds of purposes. And when that's done, we will be piloting that floor off just to add security to it. You just don't want to damage that tile. That's the final product. So, we very careful with that. Um, but really everybody's working really well together. You have a actually a nice uh get together lunch contract received very well by the site. It's always nice to say they're halfway here. Thank you miss lunch and it was thankful time. So, you know, I think we were really blessed with the contractor. A lot of local boys working here on schedule June 1st June 4th schedule right now inspector dock right now. So um that target for a
wrench last couple days if you've already seen it. So we have snow up in the area. We should have snow, but that's going to do more shelving up there, but hopefully we'll get the curbs exposed and get any questions. >> Thank you. >> Item eight, public forum. First of all, happy St. Patrick's Day. See a few. Um, public forum provides the public with the opportunity to ask questions of public or address issues included on the board meeting agenda. General operating rules of the public for determined by the board president. Do we have anybody? Okay. Must be doing something. Um, item nine consent agenda. I do want to make one of our personnel committee. We did approve our home rate our health insurance at 11%. Which was awesome. Great. >> Just so many. >> Yeah. So
um uh we are not running great as a health insurance uh group. We're running 117 last year and 118 so far this year. Through the first six months uh they came with a 19% renewal. We started looking at options. They came back and said, "If you don't take it out to bid, we'll take it down to 11%." Based on what the market looked like, based on where we were running, uh, and and some of the changes in the volatility in the health insurance market, uh, the decision was to recommend uh, taking the 11% for one year and then next year taking a long hard look at some plan design changes. uh that would be a little bit of a um look at trying to mitigate some of that increase but right now 11% when you're
running at 118 119% is probably about the best we can look for and it personally it is the best you can go for um so that's what uh we recommended as a group we did meet with the local there's a group of I don't know what six seven Jackie eight staff members that meet with myself and audited our insurance broker to talk through our insurance options. So, we did talk about different options, but uh our big issue is we have a lot of high cost claimments. So, if we can get some of that in control, uh then that will obviously help decrease our experience. >> I just wanted to know you look at it, but I just wanted to make sure that's that's really good for us budget budget with 10%. Go Is there anything
any other items somebody wanted to discuss for the other meetings? I will then seek a motion to approve the consent agend. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. All those opposions. Um item 10, discussion, possible decision, approval, and monthly votes on this. >> Have a motion by Nest. >> Second by Gorman. Roll call vote. Are any discussions? >> Okay. Roll call vote. >> Nest. Second by Gorman. Sorry, I'll slow down. Jill wants to watch the baseball. He's watch. He keeps kicking the tape. I got to keep going. >> I know what time it was. >> You did. I'm looking at the clock going. I don't think I'm going to make it. >> Kiser. >> Yes. >> Motion carries. Item number 11 discussion possible decision acceptance monthly treasurers report motion by second by Goldman
I I think might want to watch this Facebook any discussion roll call >> yes Yes. >> Motion carries. Item 12, new business. Discussion possible decision start college now and early college credit program requests. >> Yeah. If there's any questions, uh Mia is here to answer them. But as per state statute, we have or state statute, uh students have up to 18 credits they can take during their high school career. uh cannot be a class that's easily replicated here. Uh so she'll be here to answer any questions if anybody has any, but otherwise we are recommending approval of our start college now and early college credit program requests. >> And I I do sit down with both counselors and they go through those requests and make sure that there isn't anything that they offer um in
the building. There are a couple that might look a little business in this one, but um it's at the next level. So it's the required course in order to take the next level courses in referral credit. >> Yes. >> We have a motion by Corin. >> Second by anybody have discussion questions should be on the the document um for this summer and fall. >> Quite a few Well, you know, do they search for their own school then as far as where they're getting? >> So, there's they work with both um Goodman to identify classes that make sense for taking high school. Um then W like Steven's point and like independent study we go back up to the top for summer. It's basically a catalog that's available to students that they see what makes us what
their plans are. And then if you look at the NTC coursework, there's a lot of very specialized courses that are available there. Um, again based off of what students are thinking. Is there ever a time where you notice that a lot of kids are taking certain courses looking at it or is that so >> I I think I'd look specifically at some of the NPC courses and I think the conversation that we had in might be something we could look at. Um again some of those are very specialized. um even about three I don't know that we would have enough students in the building that potentially would warrant that course being offered. So um we do look at it. We do look for some trends that are convert carries. Item 12B, discussion, possible decision, posting
a district phrase in all the classrooms. You want me, I can do it. Go ahead. >> Um, I was approached by David Crawford on email to have a phrase put in all the rooms phrase. You can see there invited me to put it on the agenda. So, I put it on the agenda for discussion and possible decision. Just for the record, did he attend the strategic planning meeting to provide input? >> This is currently a part of district. >> No, it's not. >> Here's my concern as I thought. I I don't think the phrase is fine. problem is then what would stop any memory from saying well I want play as a champion on everything and I I want all >> yes you should >> of course but but I I think it's great but
the problem is where do we draw the line everybody's been able >> no I think as we're working through the strategic planning stuff too that might be you have I also suggest that there's other ways to accomplish this. We have public announcements constantly at school and maybe there's a program where we have phrase every day read or something. I I don't know that our administration is going to handle this, but my concern is it's I don't have a problem with the phrase. It's just that the floodgates are open. Where do we stop this? I just think based on this uh strategic fighting game that we just had, I think it pays to just leave these things up to when we arrive. We had a lot of good input, a lot of good discussions that had
>> you don't have to take just any discussion you want to make the strategic plan eventually answer. Okay. Okay, thank you. Item 12 C, discussion, possible decision of the week board meetings lobby. I was approached, Craig was approached by several board members that want to have a discussion. Wasn't me about because I did it before about changing the name especially after athletic event we had on a Tuesday. I think you missed your son. >> Okay. I don't want to >> I know we have I know we have them scheduled for the next year and then I don't know what it looks like as far as they're already posted on things like that but as I look as we have meetings on Tuesdays a lot of districts Mondays a lot of districts Wednesdays Wednesday last night
although I would also maintain those of us who have to figure out how to get them there anyway. It just seems to me like we would have one less thing going on with the administration trying to manage events that are moving. One night we a basketball game, a hockey game, and this isn't about whether or not those things were happening. I realized what I signed up for when I ran for election. But as I watch the administration team try to manage a hockey game, a basketball game, a choir concert, I think on that same thing, and whatever else it entails, you know, discussion we could look at Monday or Wednesday. >> I brought this up. I could not, but I brought up and I did a research. Stratford meets on Wednesday. Ever meets on Wednesday.
Point meets on Monday. Almost all the school districts lost some meets on a Wednesday. Most verify meets on a Wednesday. Most of the school districts don't meet on Tuesdays anymore. Um and I I we voted once turned down, but I know you wanted to be two other members of members that wanted to have a discussion. Anybody else have >> any we made that commitment to, you know, we haven't made to pass a few years ago that we would not have any sports or anything like that. But additionally, we like you stated Dave, we already approved the calendar for the next year. um for for work purposes. I certainly built my calendar around that for as long as I can remember. The meetings have done on Tuesday nights. So to say that the I'm sorry the
optics of it are that it is for so people don't have to miss their their kids events, but no matter what you're going to have practices every day of the week or events every day of the week. So it it is what it is and why we have to change it now. I just want to clarify it had nothing to do with that. I didn't see my kids anything that it was specific to the chaos that was going on on a Tuesday night. >> I want to make sure you're I don't think you're talking for this calendar. >> I'm not interested in revisiting for 2026. Those are what they are. >> When you said the next board meeting, >> the only other options are Monday or Wednesday. >> I I'm fine with Mon. I would
prefer Wednesday. I'm fine with Monday. Um I I do think Tuesdays and Thursdays are hard days for administrators and people like to come. >> We have big crowds now. I mean, we moved from the district office to here and we still don't have a bigger gathering. So, what are we waiting for? I guess that you're saying that we allow more people to be here. We're not bringing in more people in. I'm >> not talking about necessarily people. I'm talking about administrators who are supposed to be at every event. That's just my feeling. I think that there's other nights of the week that historically don't have things scheduled that would require them to be in two places at one time. There's But you don't religion, >> but none of us are going to have to less.
>> Well, there are other things, >> but it's just I mean that's just for me. I like to see school functions. No, I haven't Monday. I don't personally have a problem with that. When did we bring that benefit for that? >> I have no problem. We can just take >> we can just we already had it reconsider. >> We could table this table it to where we would I think it's >> we did right after incredible even though it might be kids you know I do plan my activities around certain things >> and Wednesday night is one of the nice things I do with my spouse so it's not just kid >> board meeting dates look I'm sorry Diane board meeting dates look like on the recurring agenda they are approved July I think last
year I brought them to you guys and for a preliminary review so you could say there's any dates he wanted to move, we could move into that and then bring the final one to what I did last year. >> Are you okay with I I didn't want the first time anybody heard that to be >> there's a Monday or Tuesday. I the one thing I do appreciate about this board is that we're able to have discussions and different viewpoints and that's kind of a represent my viewpoint when I first went up was right there that those people be able to be here and answer questions that we all have to supervise events. They're our supervisors. So, okay. Thank you for the excellent discussion. Um item 12D discussion possible decision second reading new policy 5135 student
identification members and congress. >> Yeah this is the second reading of the policy. There was no questions after the first reading so I'm bringing back the second reading as first. >> Okay we have a motion by Corman and a second by Kaiser. Any discussion? >> All those in favor say I. I. Motion carries. Item E2E, discussion, possible decision, second reading, new policy 6608, accountability and oversight of fundraising and crown uh funding dispersements. >> I did make the one change that was requested last month. Um so other than that, this is the same policy with the one change adding the board of ed as administration section. Second by any discussion all those in favor say I. I. >> Item F discussion possible decision second reading new policy 9211 district uh support organization. >> This was uh
same as the previous two just second reading. Uh no questions on the last one. So this is the second one. >> Any more discussion? Motion by go. You must get started. >> Who second? Yes. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. Motion carries. Okay. We are on item discussion possible decision staff engagement survey. Um I put this on the agenda. So we had discussed about doing a staff survey other surveys. When I was down at the convention, I talked to the school perception uh people. I wanted to bring this up to you. They gave me some ballpark figures and I was a little concerned that this is money and I just emailed you something, but um if we just do a staff survey, they might run us anywhere from three to $5,000. If
we want to do more, it's obviously going to be more. I didn't realize that the last time we did a survey for the referendum, it was I think $6 or $7,000. I just emailed you. I put together and I know some of you are concerned about this, but I just sent you a Google Docs form that only I have access to. It should be there. Oh, yeah. It's not published. Maybe I can't share with you. >> Yeah. >> So, are you trying to say you want to do a staff survey through Google? >> I just took their questions and put it through Google, but I did it with this. I'm the only one that wants service. Nobody else gets it at all. I know what your concern was. That's why I didn't do it. I
want to discuss. My real thing is, I don't know, but I understand it. unbelievable amount of phone calls, emails, discussions about tax bills and I'm very concerned with us approving a $3 to $5,000 expenditure to survey our staff. Maybe there's another way to do it. I don't know. But I'm I just think this would not look good for us after a lot of people receive their tax. So I I want to have a discussion about How often do we do a survey? When's the last time we did a survey? How >> often perceptions we did it >> for about a handful of years and then you can do all the surveys you want, but then what are you going to do with the results? So that's what we as a board need to make sure
that if we're going to survey and we do take the time to get the opinions that we do something to implement and make forward progress to make it a better place. Just if I'm not mistaken, when I talked, you were concerned that maybe some of the validity when they did you Google documents wasn't always a true reflection. >> Yep. Yeah. Yeah. At that point in time, a couple of administrators um had it appeared to be manipulated some of the data um when they presented it to the board. And then the staff as well had concerns that their responses were not truly anonymous. So we want to make sure that I mean to me we can justify it to the public if we can find a different way to balance the budget to to um it's
something worthwhile looking into. But then can we also is there a way to to get more of that feedback from the public through the survey as well? I don't know. I mean we can always negotiate on price things like that with school perceptions or with other potential companies but I will never support a Google survey. >> I have the convention companies. They're all the same. That's how they make your money. They don't want to just do the service. They want to come and present it to you just like they did that. It's all about the same amount of people that have to do. The concern that I've eliminated is I would be the only one that this information comes back then I could share more. That's it. Nobody else. We used to have the administrative
people do the survey. And that's where a lot of people were concerned about. Am I gonna am I going to find out who it is? Is it is it going to be manipulated? I I just don't think that that's >> Did we do the family engagement perception survey? That was Google. >> Yeah, that was a Google. >> Did we have issues with it or how did that >> you did? If you didn't have issues with it, >> I guess what issues information came back to you? >> Oh, yeah. responses came back. Uh, nobody had access issues. >> Do you know how much that going to cost? Perception survey said obviously to the staff community there's it's going to be more of a cost. >> Uh, no, we didn't look into that. It was really in
internal data to drive some of that strategic planning conversation. So, the purpose didn't necessarily at least in the short term necessitate looking out to the outside. So on the last one, was the presentation manipulated or did you feel like the data was manipulated? >> This was many many years. >> Right. Well, I'm just I mean, if that's our concern, I'd be, you know, you can always manipulate your ending results to be what you needed to be, but if somebody actually went in and changed the results, that's another problem was people didn't feel comfortable. They they said, "Yeah, sure." you know, I can feel myself and say what I really mean, but physically >> and that was >> and that and that was a big concern that is that they didn't want to be because they
made a bad mark or something. >> To be honest, it wasn't who was doing it. It was his big brother watching the problem and why I don't think we had a real true number of staff members that actually um answered it. I mean really validated the outcome. >> I don't know if you do it through Google or perceptions. >> I don't know that there anybody would feel that much better about it anyway. Anytime we get one or whatever software they do, I'm sure David gets one anywhere you work. I'm sure you got one person >> always that underlying concern that it's really not >> is that I won't vote to pay for $3 to $5,000 to do a survey that I just copy the questions and put it in there. I I just can't justify
I got a lot of flack with taxes, especially in the note there. >> I'm fine with I don't know enough about the different options available to to you know Google forms, survey monkey. I don't know enough about any of them. I'm fine taking uh the Google route or another cheap, free, inexpensive type of route. Um >> yeah, you can do but the thing about it is I would I would send it out and then >> I think the questions aren't the the questions aren't the question. >> It's the delivery or the mode in which the questions are answered. So >> the analysis and is everything going to be raw? Is everything going to be summarized? How how is it going to how is it going to be utilized throughout the district? have this available for
>> they did that already for this teaching plan. This could also be available before. Yeah, this was really about evaluating the administration and and things like that. If somebody wants to make a motion, >> I'll make a motion to approve the cool thing. >> I have a second. Any discussion? Couple other questions. construction. >> We're actually good after the strategic plan. >> See, I feel like you may want it before you finalize plan. I can see it both ways, but I feel like this would also help gauge what we should be focusing on. >> Okay, any more questions? Jackie, we're going to do a roll call. >> Okay. The motion is to do a Google survey that I do. Roll call, please. >> No. >> Yes. >> No. >> Yes. No, >> no. Kaiser, >>
yes. >> Motion carries. I find >> motion carries. I will get that out. Okay. Uh item 13, administrative. >> Uh the only thing I have to add to mine, um you asked me for some information. I put that in there. And then the one thing I sent you an email today. Um I did not put in uh the date of the legislative meeting is April 20th. So if you would like to go uh and your email would be the invite. So I need to know so they can uh do a head count for food purposes. So that'd be April 20th. So if you plan on going, just drop me an email um or call me before you tonight. I'll get you added to that list. Turn back from I believe three of you. >> That's
it. DC at DCR Middle School. Yep. >> Used to be at Medford. >> It was at Medford the last couple years. It's been at Medford forever and Medford was looking to get rid of it. Uh they posted it going back. I remember when I was at Abbottzford, it was still there. So you're talking 15 16 years ago. and Everest decided to end it's a Monday I believe and then Tuesday's the board meeting and then Wednesday is the new >> administration >> I'd just like to thank those that participated in the strategic plan process I thought it was a great night a lot of great conversations and good feedback and data for the participants um if you want to participate in the second one um you're welcome Anybody who wants to know if we're at the
first one or not >> April 15th. >> Um not a fan of the science meeting. I think it's it's very similar to last time we had strategic planning. Um, I just like to see more national conversations come about because I felt like it was board member administrator and teacher at every table and then the community members as well, but it was just very I think district. So, I I'm not I'm just putting myself into community members shoes. Would I be willing to to say anything any criticisms of the district if if my table was was district staff or district representative? That was my only great insight to business. I did not know what they were teacher less. It has kids in the district. So I really got a lot of um different perspectives on things.
The business stuff was awesome because just to hear we're so into education that we never get a chance to see a little business part of what people want and they were awesome. Discussion was awesome. Okay. Item anybody else? >> No, I thought it was great. I thought um the gentleman that ran a great job. >> Okay. Awesome. I have 14 other reports. They have a philosophy report. >> Um I did see that they released the dates to receive um January 20th. Yeah. 20th to the 22nd to the 22nd believe on the 19th. Wednesday is always that one day >> and then just to add on to to Kandra's Wby report I had put in mind to the date of the November workshop legislative 20th board meeting 21st November 22nd 3 days ago Anything else? Thank
you for doing that. Um, item 14B, the season 9 report is going to be a video, but before we do that, um, when I was at the season breakfast, I had the opportunity on CPI board and so we had PPI on our table and I mentioned to them that we're having a grand opening for ribbon cutting probably in the fall and they asked that we invite them to so that connection points where districts come together to share solutions and learn from one another. Whether it's curriculum development, instructional coaching, or special education support, the CISA network solves challenges. CISA serves as a conduit to always keep us on track with whatever the new roll out is, whatever the new state requirements are. And what makes that special is that we get to collaborate with other districts
>> across the state. CESUS hosts regional networks that unite educators at every level, sharing best practices, aligning strategies, and driving innovation. Having that connection where you walk into the building and you've got 39 other superintendents sitting there and 39 people sharing their ideas and their philosophies. It it it's really priceless. Every CISA is built on the belief that strong schools begin with strong educators. That's why the CISA network delivers instructional learning, coaching, and leadership training that advances teaching and accelerates student success. I would love to be able to offer professional development for everybody in the district and everything they need. We can't possibly do that. And CISA, they live and breathe best practices in all sorts of areas. And so we reach out to them. We utilize them year after year to bring in all
kinds of different types of professional development because we couldn't possibly have that capacity on our own to do that. From firstear teachers to district leaders, CEUS provide the support, training and certification programs that help educators grow. I cannot imagine navigating this space that is responsible for directing so many areas without CISA. If I have a question about CTE, I know exactly who I'm going to call. If I have a question about GT, I know who I'm going to call. If I have a question about Act 20, I know who I'm going to call. and all of those contacts were made by the system. >> Districts face many complex challenges, technology, staffing and business operations and ceases deliver cost effective solutions to meet those needs. By sharing services across districts, ceases reduce cost, eliminate duplication, and
create opportunities. They provide access to literacy experts uh curriculum on instruction uh directors uh specialized services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy. A lot of those services that it's just not practical for small districts to have in their own budget. CISAs also provide districts with a shared voice on the issues that matter most in education, helping decision makers understand the real challenges and needs facing Wisconsin schools. The opportunity to be able to speak to state legislators, elected officials directly. uh they coordinate those opportunities and it makes it far more efficient than having multiple school districts. Reaching out um hearing them hear from us collectively is valuable and it helps move public education forward. One network, 12 regions, thousands of educators, hundreds of thousands of students. Together, CESUS are building the future of education. One partnership,
one solution, one student at a time. Thank you. All right. Um 15 future agenda items. Yeah, this is the ones uh that are on for next month would be recognition of schoolboard service, uh statement of board of canvasers, spring elections coming up, student handbook, student fees, 4K contracts, mid-year audit, food service presentation, Wherever you're going to have that one session, that's what >> Yep. Just want you to be aware sitting here a long time. I share.
