Good evening. It is 6:31. I will call our meeting to order. Roll call. Liz >> Here. Adam >> here. >> Sarah can join us this evening. Andrew >> here. Jack >> here. Tom >> Here. Dr. Are we meeting publicly noticed? >> Yes. Please to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Would someone like to read our mission statement? >> Oh, I can do that. >> Oh, thank you. The Mount Forb Area School District in partnership with the community is dedicated to nurturing, educating, and challenging all students, bearing, and empowering them to be productive, responsible, and self-fulfilled members of society. >> Thank you. Number two, approval of our agenda and minutes. Would someone like to

make a motion to approve or revise our agenda? >> Motion to approve. >> Second. >> Motion by Carly, second by Tom. All those in favor of approving our agenda, please say I. >> I. >> Would anyone like to make a motion to approve our May 18th board of regular and close session meeting minutes? >> So moved. >> Second. Motion by Tom, second by Carly. All those in favor of approving our May 18th regular close session board meeting minutes, please say I. I. >> Addressing the board, we start off with our student spotlight. >> All right. all the people. >> So, you get to stand here like you really >> Sorry. Sorry, you both. I'll just add on. >> So, this is Potter, an amazing student here. So, an amazing student at Monro and you think

of we we've talked about this before. Every student brings so many great characteristics to Monro High School and uh I will tell you that the amount of positivity that Ellen brings and the grit that she brings and the willingness just to share her ideas and share her thoughts and um you know I think she's not only a student that makes a class better or a couple classes better. She makes our whole school better and she's brought so much to our community and our school and um we were just like so excited. Her name kind of popped right up. We're like, "Okay, a bunch of teachers had nominated her. We thought of her right away. Thought she'd be such a great representation of our student spotlight this month." >> Um, recently Meline um actually scheduled a

meeting with Mr. Lquist because she noticed a need for students in the building, particularly with um just students coming to the building and being able to navigate different systems and ways to make that better. So, um, Matt Meline, uh, signed up to be a peer tutor and that's something that happens during Stat and there were some students that were like working with her, but she you had a little bit of downtime, right? So, during that time um, she went through to make like a visual portfolio that can be accessible to students um, as they transition from 8th grade into the high school. Um, you then scheduled a meeting with Mr. Quest to share your ideas and share all of the things that you created on your own and we are actually going to be implementing

that next year. So, um, talking about someone who is making us better, that is definitely Meline. And, um, a very strong advocate, um, very determined and I think has just been navigating high school really well. And I think that she's already you're you're a junior next, you're junior this year, so senior next year, and is already making lasting impact in our system, which is phenomenal. And this is Shannon Castale. So Shannon gets to work with Meline pretty regularly and we are so happy she's here and she has some great things to say too. Um so Meline brings positive energy and spirit every day to school. >> Um she saw a need and instead of complaining about it, she found a solution for it and so that is going to better all students next year. Um

and she is always bringing a strong drive but also a compassionate heart. So um just some wonderful things that we're seeing from that way. Did I read something about assistive technology too? Tell us about that, ma'am. >> Yeah, so I have an IEP for dyslexia. Um, and so I've been using adaptive tech since like 8th grade. Um, when I transferred and I got a lot of help from Miss Castle to use my adaptive tech. And I've noticed as like I've gotten older and I'm a link crew leader, I've been working some of the younger grades coming in. I've noticed that a lot of kids with IEPs specifically don't always know where to go for that sort of stuff. There aren't a lot of resources. A lot of the crew leaders don't know um about special

education or where the rooms are or anything like that. So, I was tutoring in Miss Sakaris's room, which is a special ed um teacher, and she was we were kind of talking about it and I was saying, you know, like as a freshman, I didn't always know all the resources that I do now. I've done a lot of my own research on adaptive tech. I didn't know where a lot of the rooms were. So I put together a portfolio for them that we're not implementing for the whole school. >> It's about them. >> So Meline took like for example took a building map and instead of it being a numbered system which I think as adults were like oh yeah that makes sense. Um she put like names of different people throughout the building. So

like adjusted everything in Canva. Um there was also a brochure template that she made to kind of identify some different way who to contact for different supports. Um and then there was a failable visual schedule that's kind of integrated into the portfolio as well. >> Yeah, I did that all with Miss or Miss Caris. >> Yeah. >> And knowing that we saw that and it was such a great tool for students with IP to remember that transition, we thought, well, there's some things here that we can use for all incoming freshmen, right? There are just some things that make sense and what we know about when we have things that support students with need. We know with diverse needs a lot of the times you can help the whole the whole school and the whole

group. Um and these are these things that right you think all the adults we have all the answers. We got stuff figured out and we u had this of course it took a student for us to to show us that and we're just really thankful for that. We're so proud of you. And I see you've also brought along some amazing people in your fan club who are all wonderful folks. >> Those are my parents and my brother. Um that's Manny, my mom, and my brother and Dave, my dad. >> Nice to nice to see you all. Thank you for being here and thank you for lending her talents to our school district. We truly appreciate it. We would love to get a picture all of us together. Mom, brother, dad, would you all be willing

to come on down? Shannon, could you join us too? But uh as a small way of demonstrating our appreciation to you, we have this certificate. Hopefully you have a nice spot somewhere in your home to pop that up and then we hope you wear this properly. >> Oh, thank you. Let's give a round of applause. President, would you mind joining us for a picture? Maybe we'll go out in the hall. What do you say? That might give us a little more space. Does crumble join this photo. I mean reality >> I I think I know what you're supposed to be. I believe >> they probably they probably have an updated research ready to be picked up but I didn't know it was like but over Yeah. too much and finally Mary all day. plan for

next year. I'm not going to It's not good. Mr. Are you coming back? >> Yes. >> A little bit of building, huh? Um yeah, a little bit of good news. Uh we are definitely at the end of the school year which is um you know there's a lot of great things going on at the high school. Um is a couple weeks ago we had a great community event. We brought in an organization called Just Dane and they came in and they gave our students a really unique opportunity to understand what it's like post incarceration. Essentially going through that process and understanding that it's not just oh you're out and things are fine. I know to understand banking and housing and family. There's a lot of really challenging things that people have to go through. Um

there's a really unique opportunity just does this with um school districts across the area. Um and someone had donated the time so that Molly set it up and it was just such a great opportunity for students to do that and learning opportunity for students who maybe not wouldn't see something else but just to build those things. Um we came out of uh the spring boy ACT was a while ago, wasn't it? I think it was yesterday. Uh but we got results back which was really great. Um and you know we're still combing through those but uh they were pulled back a little bit cuz there were some reading writing score issues and we got them back and just really pleased with the growth and the continued work that our students are doing. Um in so

many places are seeing drops. We are continuing to see growth and continue to see kids do really great work. Um field trips are certainly abound. this past weekend if you were at the football field uh there was a 250 year kind of American anniversary and that was Marlene Tilsmeir um probably a month ago she had this idea and she took it and when I say she ran with it she ran with it and she does she's a veteran herself you may have seen her speak um and she's always done such great work for our veterans program and so again an amazing teacher coming up stepping up and supporting our community um in so many different ways um yeah we are graduation coming up this Sunday so Looking forward to that with the walk the memory

walk on Friday which we did to change the map a little bit with the PC. So we're actually be kind of coming to the back side of the PC on the back side. We go into the ELC but our seniors just a chance to get up on the their last playground one last time. Um gosh this will be the last senior class to go on this playground for this photo right cuz my next I would assume next year we'll be there at the end of the year. Maybe we'll be maybe maybe but um yeah so I think things are wrapping up. Uh, our seniors are definitely ready to go and we're we're excited to to wish them well this coming weekend and I know that you'll be leader as well. So, um, yeah, it's just

been it's been a blast. I I do want to say uh, she's not even here. Tisa is not even here. Okay. All right. Positive words about her. She's not here every time. Yeah. Tisa has been such a great joy to have with us and I know you'll be meeting Shelby here in a little bit. Um, but to add, you know, is going on to do something different in Verona High School. Uh, we wish her the best, but she's been nothing but a great uh great ad and a great support here at Monor. So, just if you see her, make sure you congratulate her and say best of luck to her next thing. >> Yeah. Yeah. Can you put together a bit of a slide deck? >> Well, you're incredible. >> Yeah. Here's a little pup

date. uh we will say uh that is I had the opportunity to go with crumble a couple weeks ago actually um to a first and second grade they had done a little jump rope for heart and they do some fundraising and the class that kind of had the most success and in some major were given an award and it was to see Ruby and Crumble both came. So Ruby uh right that you'll see right there be able to join uh those classes which was really fun. The kids loved it. The dogs loved it. As you can see, Ruby's having a blast there. Um, and just always a great experience to be able to bring to to go see elementary school, especially with Crumble because I don't always do that. Um, but just the again why

we have his dogs. I mean, you can almost see them in their in their faces, the joy they bring. I'll tell you, walk the halls with Crumble or people stop in or he's with um a couple different groups and just I think someone has just deinstitutionalizes it, right? It's life. It brings life in there. And um we have students who struggle, who maybe need a whole lot of support, come to school cuz they had a tough morning and crumbles there, take go for a walk, say, "We have to go to middle school this morning." He'll walk them to the middle school. Um and so really making that connection, bringing that life into students and supporting students. Um and yeah, just it's great. I mean, I'll tell you that during AP season and ACT, we make

a couple stops in some of those rooms as they're getting ready cuz there's a little extra anxiety in those spaces. Um but it it really is helpful. Um and they bring so much joy to our office and to the building and to the students and um we just love having them around. They do provide that companionship. We definitely have a number of students. I know that uh if you all heard of uh Crumble Junior at the middle school. Well, there's Crumb Crumble. Um we have a student at the middle school who has an IP who who struggles and really is on the spectrum is really kept with Crumble. But when Crumble can't be there, needs some help. And so they have is a little stuffed animal with a red vest, a golden, and he calls

Crumble Jr. And uh sometimes Crumble Jr. needs to make recommendations on maybe where to redirect or maybe where we should go somewhere. And Crumble Jr. is a very big help. Um and I think that is an extension of the work we have Crumble in the service dogs there really being able to to lean on and help students of all kinds. That that's always a fun little uh little story there. Um yeah, fundraising. Um, we've done a couple different things to raise money for custom canines. We've always had kind of a QR code out about or we've raised money at football games. Um, you can see some original art there by Crumble. Um, all it takes is paint in a bag with some peanut butter on the outside, I believe. And, um, dogs can do some

really interesting things. That was all Rubbery, but I mean, but was a big piece of it. Um, we think Rotary was able to um we get some money from Rotary this year and which is also very helpful because not only does you know we need insurance problems, so he has pet insurance, but there's uh different visits and food and all the things that he has to go through and he's in great health, but it's always nice to have that. So, we really appreciate Rory and other organizations for those donations to make sure that Crumble um is has all the things he needs um and is well taken care of. So, we continue we had a grant that has kind of come to an end here pretty quickly and so be able to do that fundraising

will be more important now. Um and you know, Rotary gave us a pretty good it bucks which is really really great and was very helpful. So, >> we loved having them come to our meeting. >> Yeah. Yeah. We visited callers. That's right. Here we are. Yeah. He just really wanted a burger for one. No. Yeah. So, again, I just think that he brings a lot of joy to walk with him. And then you got the rest of the There you see Ruby at the IC. Bumble's the newest uh edition at the ICA. Correct, Steve? >> Yeah. Just last week. >> Yeah. Yeah. And then Schmidt at the LCPC. I haven't had a chance to meet, but I've met the uh met Ruby a number of times now. A bubble and crumble. >> Yeah. So, anything

else on the process of goes for? >> It's a lengthy process and we're just so appreciative of everyone who participates. All the handlers are incredible and thanks Steve for doing the pup interviews. >> One of the most exciting interviews. It is rather interesting though to see how much um these dogs have been trained to pick up on cues from people around stress and or just something's off. We have people came in for interviews to for positions last week and they can sense a little heightened maybe nervousness. That's too strong a word crumble just about bringing down. >> Yeah, it's truly been remarkable to see. Any questions on how crumbles again he's I know we talked about this before. He's got appointments with students. He has groups he works with. Um so he has regular scanning

appointments that there's not to make sure he gets through they reschedule them. Um, Sources of Strength is a group that he has done quite a bit of work with. Um, and so again, just these organizations that love to have him around and but yeah, he's a he gets home and I will tell you lively with me, he is zonked. He is done. >> He's right now. >> But he has a sister there. They go nuts and they rustle and play. That keeps him um pretty. It's a same same mom and different litter and she's only two. We adopted her and that's when you see you see this are the only time he's not this chill of getting living like a dog fighting in our front yard cuz they're just constantly going at it. But yeah,

it's really fun. >> Cody, we can't thank you enough for all that you've done. Hope, compassion, stability, and trust are four things people look to from their leaders. And in the eight years you've been This is your seven. >> Your seven going on your eight. Yeah. you really transformed with the leadership of some really outstanding staff. Just impressive. Truly impressive. Thank you. I know that in part uh Tisa is party to that, but >> you've been a busy man hiring here these past couple days and board members you see on the personnel transactions tonight a number of items, but before we get there, just on behalf of the board and the administrative team, we thank you for your leadership. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. No, >> it's always it's easy to do the work and

you're such a great supportive community. So, my pleasure. So thank you. Appreciate it. >> Thank you very much. We're so pleased to welcome Kate McKinn to the table. Thank you. >> Hello Kate Kenny and I live on board. I just want to say thank you to each of you for all the hard work you do. you come like regularly and you're, you know, making the school district an inclusive place and it it means so much you know for all students your mission is is great. So thank you for everything and the flags fly means a lot. >> We start June happy month. >> Yes. >> It's nice to see you. Thank you. >> Thank you. Yes. >> School news. or J to start. >> I can start. Um to start, we uh the forensics club

finally had their banquet on I think it was in the last week. I don't remember the exact date, but we finally did it. Um awards were passed out. We had a really fun time. Um finally did it after quite a while of delay. Um, next up was we have finals are only about a week away. We have about about even a week of a day left of school um at least at the high school um for anyone who's not a senior. And then we have graduation Sunday this Sunday and um there's also a survey out for a possible tennis co-op at the high school. So that is all I have. Jack, your very final school news. >> Guys, I think we get our yearbooks tomorrow. >> Applause. Don't get too excited. >> That's what I've

got, >> guys. That's exciting. It's like the first time in like all four years of high school that I'm the school year. That's >> true. >> So, thank you. You're booked. >> Oh, yeah. Like, isn't that usually like >> the next year you get on? Yeah, >> worship in the fall, but we changed it up this year. Get it before they leave. >> Well, before we move on, Jeff and Andrew, thank you very much for joining our school board meetings this year and contributing. Very much appreciate. Come back next year. Jack will miss you. >> Oh, yeah. >> Keep me in your prayers, you guys. Dr. >> But, uh, at the middle school level, uh, the last day of school, June 10th, at 5 and 7 p.m., there'll be their annual musical. And this year,

it's going to be a great one. It's called Newsies. Do you remember this? Uh, there was a movie in a Broadway production, maybe in the mid80s, if I remember right. Uh, and so our students are going to replicate that. Uh, please be sure to come out and support them. And then I know where you might be on Wednesday night at 6:30. What's happening over at the intermediate center? >> Uh it's our last PTO meeting of this of the school year. >> Yes. So all are welcome there. We're going to talk about voucher transparency and see to what extent can we uh work with our PTEO to uh continue the work that's being done amongst other school boards and uh administrators around Day County to tell the story uh of transparency around vouchers in our district.

Uh we're close to almost $750,000 that our local taxpayers pay uh to support voucher programs not even within our school community. around the state. Uh in many other uh communities, Mass and Metropolitan, they're into the millions of dollars. And so Dayne County superintendent as well as board of education members are working shouldertoshoulder to lift that message just in the in the spirit of let's just be transparent with where dollars are going. Uh so looking forward to having a little bit of a discussion with our our PTO friends on on Wednesday night, 6:30 in the cafeteria. board members, other school news. >> Uh, I will just add that the IC's field day is coming up next Tuesday, June 9th. So, I'm signed up for a morning volunteer shift. I believe they may still be working with

volunteers. Sounds like a fun day. There are inside options. You can volunteer for inside options if you think I'm on an inside option. Sure, I always have something. Um, I was able to go to the reading night uh last week, reading across America. Um, it was a really nice event. Um, there were some really nice uh guest speakers, including Dr. Seno who read some stories to to our young kids. Um, there was like a scavenger hunt um for words across the America um through the hallways of the school. Um then the PTO is there um doing some nice things and trying to raise some money um to help with the with with the classes and teachers and and the school stuff. Um and I wanted to give a shout out to one of our high

school students um that was nice enough to try uh to donate his time um for his business that he's created um Logan Monahan and he's doing um professional websites. Um, I wasn't able to purchase that. I don't need a website, but um, if there's anybody out there, I'm sure we can probably direct you uh to him. I just thought um, you know, for our young people to create a business while they're still in school, it's great. And just give him a shout out for and then donating to the PTO to trying to get his name out there, but then also try to help the kids, the younger kids. So, um, yeah. So, that's that. >> Awesome. The only thing that I would add is we have several students who are competing in state for track

this weekend, including Miss Rock. All righty. Uh, moving on to personnel transactions. >> Board members, there is an addendum tonight that you'll see. And if you will allow me a moment to welcome a candidate for your consideration, associate principal candidate, Mrs. Shelby Steel. Shelby comes to us from the Malonea Grove School District. She's somebody who's been on our radar now for a number of years due to her um support of diversity, equity, belonging, inclusion activities uh not just in Manona Grove, but for superintendent and boards of education all around Dne County and beyond. uh somebody who when we talk with her references uh is uh very high missionoriented, somebody who cares passionately about doing good and right by kids and somebody who we've been told would be an absolute mistake if we did not hire

her. And let me tell you, we're finding very quickly that she's just going to be a wonderful addition to the Mount Horb High School. I learned some interesting things about her this afternoon thanks to uh Mr. Lungquist. Would you give us the the the back? Oh, I love these stories about your fantastic. Shelby and Cody, would you mind coming up for a moment and and allowing us? And while you do that, won't you please tell us a little bit about Shel's backstory? Um, Shel's backtory. I should let Shelby come. I told you today just congratulating Shelby, welcoming her to the high school. Um, Shel spent a lot of time started as her career as a special education teacher. um was the leader of the uh charter school in Monter Grove uh team of students, assistant

director of student services and equity in Monter Grove. Um it's worked on some pretty tough stuff uh in Monro and has been a great leader there. So when she applied, went through the interview process, it was just we we kind of knew right away. You walk out of the interview, you go, I think that was just my next AP. Um was was pretty great and it was pretty easy to tell. So yeah, I don't know. No, but you got to tell the story about >> I have to tell a story. >> Well, no, you have to tell about Hawaii and soccer. You heard that story. I don't uh >> uh Yeah. So, right after college, I I was a I played at W. I played soccer at W for four years. And so, I was

a Badger. I grew up being a Badger fan in many different ways. So, that was really big honor for me to do that. wasn't real focused on academics honestly my first four years because I was really focused on soccer but had a blast and learned a lot and um continuing the passion of soccer in Hawaii I actually got married right out of uh college and my husband's in the Navy so we and he stationed at Pearl Harbor so moved out there right away um coached the Bulls for a while and had a kid out there and um you know it was it was it was an adventure there for four years Well, everybody says that uh everyone we've talked to says that, you know, you're not afraid to to dig in and deal with the

the heavy stuff. >> And uh from time to time, there's heavy stuff in our schools, right? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> I I really appreciate that about you. You're going to be a wonderful addition to our family. >> Well, happy to be here. Thank you. >> Thanks. >> Appreciate it. >> It's nice to meet you. >> Yeah. You're welcome. >> All righty. Would anyone like to make a motion to approve our personnel transactions? >> Move to approve. >> Second. Motion by Adam, second by Leah to approve our personnel transactions. All those in favor, please say I. >> Anyone opposed? >> Consent agenda. Is there anything anyone would like to fill out or would anyone like to make a motion to approve it? >> Motion to approve consent agenda. >> Second. Motion by Tom, seconded by Leah.

All those in favor of approving our consent agenda, please say I. >> Anyone opposed. Discussion items. Karly, you want to start off with 5 minutes? >> Sure. Um, so we met on May 11th a while ago now. Um, we reviewed the purchase of 34 classroom TVs as part of our replacement cycle for the IC. I think that still has yet to come aboard the full board. Um, we also just took a look at their scheduled property taxes. As a reminder, we've received about 16 million of our F2 total levy um and expect to receive the rest in the fall. We looked at our budget calendar again. There are some pre- audit activities happening um now in order to prepare. These are things that can be done ahead of time of a full audit coming this

summer. Um and and as a reminder on the budget calendar, we are quickly approaching our uh annual meeting in on Monday um August 10th. That will be coming up soon. Um we looked at the current budget summary report there. Let's see anything interesting. We talked a little bit about at the time that we met, we had had some initial news about the potential budget reconciliation bill. Um, and so just talk process about what how things might shake out once we knew more about that. And then wamp wamp, we did not need to do revisions specifically for that. Um, after all, um, but we do know there'll be some budget revisions coming as we deal with the return of the electric bus funding. So, um, we talked about that. I think that's I think that's most

of what we talked about. We have our next meeting coming up on Monday. >> Thank you. Any questions for Bradley? Are you willing to call some? >> I will give an update on salsa. We did not because we were down we were down on person. We did not elect a chair for saw yet. We'll do that next meeting. Um that meeting was on Monday the 18th of May. Um, we spent a bit of time, I think most of the time, well, first I want to say that we did, we wanted to acknowledge Anukica and Jack also for their time spent on that committee. It is, it is just super helpful to have student voices in there and and they've both been a been a great part of that committee. So, so thank you for your

service there as well. I know you're here, too. So, um the we spent most of the time looking at the um district a draft of the belonging goals um in order to support our own board belonging goal. the the um Brian's team has developed very specific um metrics and goals to help support that including things like um implementing student voice systems into decision- making um establishing a belonging web page um and focusing on safe and inclusive climate to reduce incidents of harassment and speech discrimination. So, spent most of our time talking about the specifics of of that. Um, we also had some safety updates around uh let's see, I think we spent a bit of time talking about so there had been a a bike and pedestrian incident by um on 8th Street. We spent

a little bit of time talking about that. um as a part of the mental health update, the rest screeners coming to the high school next year. Um we talked a little bit about mental health awareness month coming up and let's see, our next meeting is June 15th. We will have police chief uh Doug Berick uh present at that meeting uh because we want to continue the conversation. Thanks for the follow suggestion, President Eric B. Um you may have known we had a bit of a scare last week with reference to a little girl. Pleased to say she's doing fine, but it just goes to all the work that's being done to promote education around scooters and some more work that we've gotten in in if you're interested. uh 5:30m here in this very room on

the 15th. >> Thank you. Liz, do you have a >> Sure. Um so I was not on the roll call, nor was I there. Um but I did take notes and I did follow through and and um take a couple passes through Troll TV. Um big big projects coming up was that Luckin Park. So, the village has someone who's going to be helping with the fundraising piece of it. Um, it's a 4-year program. The goal is to uh raise $6.5 million for the park and it's in different phases. Um, I'm just going to kind of skip forward. There was an approval for the a new design for Waltz Park sign um thanks to the draft designs for vital signs in Verona. Um, some talk about the Rondell Park concession stand. So, um, Lions Club has

come up with a very generous donation for the Rundle Park, um, project of replacing the current, um, concession stand. So, for some of us who are going to be working at the Frolic, it might be our last time. Um and then the really important piece that ties into the SAG uh committee is um one of our representatives from the sustainable sustainability and natural resources committee that I'm no longer on. Um Scott who's been working with Steve giving you a little background information. He presented the pedestrian and bicycle safety plan as part of his application process for the um League of American Bicyclists bicycle friendly community. So this went to the safety committee or commission in the village. It's already been working uh progress with the sustainability committee and then it was um recommended to be

uh presented to the village board. So, this is really timely um because we have some issues going on right now. Um one one of the things that I want to um share with all of you is there's about five different pieces to this pedestrian safety plan. Number one is education and bicycle safety. So, uh there was some discussion about involving the library. Um, I haven't brought this up to everybody, but I'm kind of cooking a scheme to maybe perhaps get a public forum with a community where members can um have some talking points and have something moderated hopefully using some people who have been trained by disagree better um to get public input and really come up with some sort of consensus on a villagewide basis and I hope the right people who are vested

in it are going to show up. Um number two is designation of bike friendly routes in the area using a low stress mapping um that Scott did. So there'll be two routes um that will be established with um wayinding signs. So there'll be one that goes north and south, another one that goes east and west with the intent to have safe corridors for students to go through. So, I'm kind of excited that I'm here on this board and working on some other pieces that I'm sort of cooking on a different pot on a different stove, but in the same kitchen of our community. Um, another thing that was brought in this plan is improvements to pedestrian safety on crosswalks. So there were some really um high um traffic areas that were actually specified in a

study that was done and uh collection of safety data of crashes and near misses. So, this is where when you're talking to people, please tell them, encourage them to please report if they've seen anything, if they've been involved in a crash or if they've been in a crash, to please go to the police department and make a report because we really need those metrics to figure out and fine-tune this plan. And then the last thing was bike racks and key locations. Um, so school's doing a really good job. Maybe we need more racks for the scooters and hopefully the bikes. Um, but I've noticed when I've been involved in this, just going around town and looking mostly on the weekends, there's a lot of bike racks in the school, but villagewide, we probably need more

so that bikes can be used as a safe and reliable source of um, transportation that also has some sustainability to it. The last thing was a department of recreation department. There was some updates on the pool maintenance um and some talk about the school swim team using our municipal pool and also Liberty Park is doing some recovery on the soccer field um that will be at Liberty Park that will be used for the summer rec programs in July. Awesome. Thank you. Does anyone have any questions? Okay, moving on then to our action items. Brian, second reading of revisions to board policy is 721.1 safe and hopeful facilities. >> I know we talked about it last time, but >> yeah, we talked about this the last time and we made some of the minor corrections to

it. Is there any other feedback or wonders? Anyone? If not, would anyone like to make a motion to approve? >> Motion to approve. >> Second. Motion by Leah, seconded by Carly to approve board policy 721.1. All those in favor, please say I. >> No opposed. Okay, that was easy. All right, moving on. Board policy 734. So this is our policy on the use of surveillance. Um and I saw Steve was making even some changes based on some of the new feedback we were getting through um the lawyers as as policies have been changed and and updated which we've kind of mentioned in the last weekly update. But this has kind of also made it a little bit more broad to cover not just the specific audio but like bigger electronic monitoring as a whole but

also kind of make it a little bit more specific in some of the areas as well. And so um there's quite a few changes um and specific right ways that we're going to correct it and or use it. Um, and this uh, a lot of the stuff was directly from WSB on what should be updated and if we do this, we should add it. If you do this, you should add it. So, the things that we're doing as a district, we include it in there as well. Board members, just to Brian's thoughtful point on this policy, literally as I was just sitting here waiting for the education committee meeting uh, last week, I received the WSG's policy perspective. Maybe you got this, too. And in it, it talks about how we need to now um

notify families that there's audio surveillance also uh on our school buses and that um our buses, all transportation need to have signs, actual copies of the policy available for people in them. Um so if this gets approved this evening, uh we will ask um I've already been working with Brian to uh to think about what does that look like? some more information on that to follow. And you've thoughtfully put together some administrative regulations. You kind of noodled some ideas. Nothing nothing uh cemented yet, but to be sure uh we will definitely uh work through this and get this to you in due diligation. God bless you. This is a first reading, so uh it's not tonight, >> but we're happy to answer any questions you might have. Do >> we have to do anything special

with the 80s in the bathroom? They're not truly recording, right? But they are sort of listening. >> Yes. Um, so we did ask we asked that direct question to Cody um with the policy. Read through it. Say if that in if this includes what Halo's the power that the Halo does. He said it's all included and that this policy is very reflective of the practice that they use at the high school. >> The new law that was passed as it rel it it only relates to buses equipped with video. Great question >> because that would defeat the whole purpose if we just put signage up. >> Right. Anyone any other questions or comments? >> I think just the the signage and the buses would be a pretty relatively minor cost. I don't have any kid

doesn't have any specific requirements. Okay. >> If a kid asked to read the policy, could you please send us a message to let us know that? I would just love to know his new BFF. Yeah, we'll be putting back in that be a fourth grader, I'm sure. >> Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. Nice. >> Sarah, we have a series of policies for you. Hold on. Perfect. Okay. So, committee members uh did review this policy and we had some proposed revisions um centering around information from the Department of Public Instructions Home Instruction questions and answers for school districts. So, I reviewed that p that document. um with our policy to provide any updates that were needed. Um we also received some feedback from WDSP as well. Um we had some incorrect ordated statutory references.

So those were updated and then uh we updated the format and the structure of it and provide some subheadings in order to allow for just better flow of the communication of the policy. That's the major work on this policy. Any questions or comments? >> No. Okay. Want to move on to school age program? Uh school age prayer program. Uh a little less revision on on this one. um within it um the WASB uh stated that our policy was structured um to follow the mandates set by state law. Um so that was great. Just had a couple of changes in the language in the opening of the policy and then a couple little nuances with language and some grammar throughout. So even less change in those changes in this one. Again, it's always good to review

policies just so we're up to date on the procedures. And I did connect with Consisa as well, high school administrator to make sure we're on the same page to our procedures. This comes up somewhat infrequently, I'm sure, but I was still curious about that given that there's that age of 21. So, that could be just someone that moves into the village or inside our boundaries. >> Yeah. >> It's not a continuing student. It doesn't have to have been a student at any point in time or no. >> Correct. >> Yeah. We have we can serve students until they're 21. >> Yeah. >> Other questions. >> Okay. 425 fulltime. Oh, do you have question? No. No. Okay. 425 open enrollment. >> Yeah. So uh there was just one provision recommendation coming from the education committee to

align the changes in state statute um moving from the timeline of 30 days to 90 days for those in the military who can access the alternate alternative open enrollment timeline. So, another change. >> I only have one thing and it just maybe how it's showing on my screen, but on page five it says transportation. Um, like it's two lines and then a P is like there's just some weird breakage and I don't know if it's just how it's displaying for me, but I figured that would Yep. Okay. It's just how it's displaying for me. Cool. No worries. I was like, this looks weird. No, mine's broken. Okay, good. It's not the headers. The headers are just >> Yeah. Oh, that's what And I couldn't even tell what it said. >> Well, it looks like, right?

Like >> is that's what it looks like. I was like, "What is this?" Yeah. It's not. >> My question wasn't about the policy, but it was about administering the the procedures on open enrollment and tiebreers, all this kind of thing. This document made me think it's a giant nightmare and I would think that in practice it's easier than this reads. Is that fair to say? I was looking at all this though. This is crazy. >> Yeah, I had same reaction. >> Great, great observation. You're right. In application, it's much easier. We rarely run into issues whereby there's tie breakers or these sorts of things. My preference would be if they want to open a role here, let's find a way to get to a yes for them. >> Great. Anyone else questions? Okay, thank you

Sarah. See you again. I don't imagine we have any additional citizens coming future agenda. I know there's anything you'd like to talk about or I know for next meeting graduation. >> Yes. Just um anything to point out? >> Uh no, thank you. This looks terrific. >> All right. Would you like to make a motion to adjurnn? So second in favor of please say I. I.
