Jack Tom >> here. >> Carly here. I'm >> here. Dr. Dr. S has their meeting in property. >> Yes, it has. >> Please join me in the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I can read the mission statement. The Monor area school district in partnership with the community is dedicated to nurturing, educating, and challenging all students, preparing and empowering them to be productive, responsible, and self-fulfilled members of society. >> Um, moving on to number two. Would someone like to make a motion to approve or revise our agenda? Motion to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> Motion by Carly, seconded by Tom, to approve our agenda. All those in favor, please say I. >> Anyone opposed?
B. Approval of our April 20th, 2026 regular and close session board meeting minutes. Would anyone like to make a motion to approve? So move. >> Second. >> Motion by Sarah, seconded by Adam. All those in favor, please say I. >> I. I. >> Anyone opposed? Number three, addressing the board. Mr. Christensen, would you like to start us off, please? >> I would love to. All right, Quinton. All right. Well, everybody, this is Quinton Classy. He is an eighth grader here. Um, so few short weeks from being a high schooler. Um, but he is just, um, fantastic. When I reached out to our building leaders and others in the building, um Clinton's name came up from multiple people across multiple grade levels, across multiple content areas of someone who we absolutely should recognize before he heads
over to high school. Um I always say that middle school is a time to try a lot of new things so you can sort of hone your interests and Quinton does that um incredibly well. He is involved in just about everything. um Corral jazz band. He's on our sources of strength peer leadership group. Uh he tried out for the musical tonight. Um I'm sure I'm missing some things that you were in. Um I I would also say that his his passion to try things extends beyond the middle school. So he is on the blackar drone line. Um he enjoys soccer. He likes to be outside uh camping, hunting, all those types of things, fishing. Um so just super super involved student which is just fantastic. And beyond that when I asked his teachers about him
um everything from hardworking and kind to very inquisitive asks really good questions is constantly trying to deepen his own learning. Um which is not always the case for 14-year-olds. So it's really fantastic that he really takes that ownership and has the drive. a couple of quotes that I pulled out from I think I had at least 15 people send me things, so I tried to pair it down a little bit, but couldn't show great leadership during our forensics season. I think I missed that you were forensics, too. Um, in addition to performing a solo piece, he partnered with a sixth grader who was struggling a little bit and needed some guidance. Quinton is a friend to all. He is always eager to take on new challenges and is encouraging to everyone around him. Quinton is
the quintessential student, striving to understand striving for understanding and seeking this understanding with insightful questioning. He asks great questions and seeks to understand at a deeper level. Quinn is a kind human who shows empathy and respect. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to teach Quinton for 2 years and can say for sure that he can make small world metal school a better place to be in. Quinton is the shining example of what it means to be a Viking. We are so super proud OF YOU. CONGRATULATIONS. AND ON BEHALF OF the board of education and the school district's leadership team, we have this certificate just to commemorate this very special evening. I hope you have a nice spot to put that someplace, maybe your bedroom or awesome. And then just a small token of
our appreciation, we have a Viking pin. We give those to students who've been honored as you have been. >> Uh can you tell us who are these amazing people who are with us this evening? This is my mom car classy. This is my sister classy and this is my dad class. We know this is my teacher and math teacher. Last year thank you all for being here and we know it starts at the home. So we're grateful for all that you do and appreciate the partnership that we have. Uh we had mentioned that we'd love to be able to take a picture uh with um Quinton and his beautiful family and I'd love to see anyone can remember WHO'S THE INTERMEDIATE COME ON. BUILDING. But let's for a minute for the village and I'm like,
"Oh crap, I was told I was going to do that." Just turn like things are good. >> That's what I have to fine. Everything's awesome. Just quote Just quote the Lego movie. You'll be fine. Do I need the air conditioner in here? It still feels a little warm. Feel like it's always cold. Like it always was cold up here. Mhm. And then the summer like actually kicks off at like 7 >> like okay we can be done now. >> I know. They did not do that when I was this high school here. >> Do they need a more high school? >> We approve this site for that. Yeah. Right. >> All right. It starts at June 16th. So, whoever's going to the meeting or whatever meeting can't go. >> Oh, I'll go to our water
instead. >> I think it's 2027 though, right? >> Oh, wait. >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, thanks everybody for giving just a couple of minutes. We are a active busy time of the year um here at the middle school. Track is well underway. Uh 103 7th and eighth graders are in Belleville tonight. Uh they will be at home next Tuesday night here for something to do. Um I think you heard me talk about the musical is coming out. The auditions for tonight. Cast and crew have been set over the last couple of weeks. We have a social uh on Friday after school. That's a bit of a fundraiser by our student council, hence the door decoration. So if you walk around um there's a little bit of a competition going on. They went with the throwback of
under the sea as the theme for the social. So that's the the door decorating. Uh our seventh graders were just at Steuart Lake. That was a really nice opportunity through game county parks. Um planted a couple hundred trees. >> Yeah. concern that I was like, is there a tunnel? I was like, what's the concept? >> I immediately went on Facebook because I'm like, what is happening? >> Or there's a semi stuff like for 2 hours. >> Yeah. Once they started, they weren't stopped. Um, but I had a lot of fun with it. Learn about invasive species and they were pulling some things or plants and things, invasive plants, I guess. And, um, just what a great resource in our backyard and for us to have the opportunity to go there and see that. Um, again,
if you are interested in it, there's a bulletin board right through that wall on the other side of the library that has pictures and some information from that day. Um, let's see what else we've got. Uh, planning for our annual fun run that will be here sooner than later. It's actually, I think, a month from tomorrow. Um, so getting ready for that. Uh, concert season has started. So, we've got orchestra followed by band followed by choir over the next couple of weeks. Um, and maybe one of the the things I wanted to highlight most was our sources of strength here group. You heard me say Quinn was on that. Um, and that's a group that started last year. We have one here at the middle school. They have one at the high school as well.
Um, and it's really a peer leadership group and the peers are like the student body is has a huge voice in all of the planning of that, the things that they put on. Um, and as you walk into the commons, you'll see a a banner up that says you belong here. And that's their their theme for this spring. um as they really are helping us as a building learn and grow around mental health, which month is the um mental health awareness month. So everything from activities around building community in our whole school or maybe smaller home rooms to just um understanding things around mental health and they've got some competitions we're doing. They've got some lessons that they've set up. So, um, just a really good way for us to engage 11, 12, 13, 14
year olds in their own, um, in their own building. So, um, I'm sure that there are other things, but that's a bit of a round out. So, >> awesome. >> Yeah. Thank you very much. >> All right. Thank you. >> Next up, consider international travel to France, Belgium, and Switzerland. >> Good evening, board members. On behalf of Stephanie Lawson, we ask that the board please consider this by uh yearly trip uh what promises to be a really special event to the specific details of which are found on the board docs. You missed a moment discussing that the high school leaison should go on and your superintendent. >> Absolutely. >> You sure everything's on the other great like to make motion to approve. >> Motion to approve. >> Second. >> Motion by Leah, seconded by Sarah.
All those in favor of approving the trip to France, Belgium, and Switzerland, please say I. I. >> Anyone opposed? Moving on to consider travel for the future problem solvers international competition to move to Indiana. >> Mr. Keely was so excited when our students came back uh from their recent competition that allows them to uh participate in the event at Indiana State University here in a couple of weeks and uh hope you might please consider their ability to travel. I would make a motion to approve trip to Indiana Indian Indiana. >> Second motion by Sarah, seconded by Leah to approve the future problem solvers trip to Bloomington, Indiana. All those in favor, please say I. >> I. Anyone opposed? All right. Moving on to school news. Andrew, would you like to start? >> Oh, I have
a list. just stuff that just stuff that uh mostly came from my email, but even still um parking permits are out for the high school. I filled mine out the exact time it came out, so hoping for a good spot next year. Um the fall sports sign uh signups are out, so look out for that if you guys want if you know people are doing sports. Um NHS induction happened. Unfortunately, I was gone for that, but it happened. So, there's that for you new members. Um, forensic state scores are back. Um, but with that, the banquet is postponed for just a little bit until we can get back on our feet. Um, and then uh the other the other thing I had was uh just the remembrance of May 1st where we uh remember the
unfortunate and sad situation that happened 2 years ago and come and come together as a community. So that's all I have. >> Thank you so much, Andrew, for the thoughtful reflection there. We appreciate it and for all you do to represent our high school student body. Madam President, if I could offer just a couple of other additions and first want to thank board president, uh I guess past president now, uh Mr. Mertz. He thoughtfully suggested that maybe because we have the expertise of this board, might there be something we can do to help our newest board member. Would you want to just uh maybe speak to that and then have you bestow this upon our dear Elizabeth? >> Yeah, >> it's not a panel. I I didn't think of everything. >> Um no, I have
a pretty experienced board and I know that we all had our own learning curves coming on here and it's the unwritten stuff that's the hardest to know how to navigate. uh andor where to spend your time because you can spend your time a lot of different places. So, I I uh didn't really get to review all of these, but there's some really good a really great variety of tips on there that'll help you get underway and we're just so excited to have you on board with us. >> Oh, gee, thanks. WELL, we also are excited uh this is staff appreciation week and so much of an outpouring rightly so uh for the outstanding efforts and contributions our staff members make. Uh board members, thank you to the extent to which your schedule allows you. This
Wednesday afternoon, uh we'll be providing ice cream uh at each of our sites just to say thank you as a small token of appreciation. And then another celebration on the horizon. I want to extend a note of gratitude to director Straa and to coordinator Hanks as they prepare our school district um and support our teachers and students as we celebrate America 250 years. Um that's part of Act 95. Um and something we were already planning on doing. We need to have the legislature tell us to do it because we so believe and love this country for all of its virtues. And I'm just grateful for the reach out that you both have made to our um our veterans within our community so they can be a part of what goes on in our school classrooms.
These videos are going to just be terrific. I can't wait for you to see them. Awesome. >> Court members. I just want to mention so prom is this Saturday. >> Um my daughter's lucky enough to be on court. So I'm a very excited mom. So there's been lots of preparations going on. And I did just want to give a shout out to Amy Arnison for her work with the junior class and and her help on planning prom. I have two um one on the 19th is uh reading night where they're going to read across America to celebrate the 250 years. But because the PTO didn't get to do our fancy pants dance, we are doing our silent auction at that night. So if you need lots of random stuff that we have from the fancy
pants dance, please stop and do that. Um, and then on Thursday this week is the fourth and fifth grade orchestra concert followed by the middle school orchestra concert. I think it's at 7, I think. >> Yes. >> Two things. Yeah. Um I was lucky enough to go on April 24th to the kindergarten spring sing and it was a really um exciting concert based on Brown Bear Brown Bear QC a lot of good songs and um I think it was a historical event because it might have been the last concert in that >> I think so maybe one more okay so I'll make sure to attend that as WELL and And I believe this Friday um at the baseball game there's going to be kind of a benefit for one of our youngest learners that might
be having some health issues. So um if you have time, come on out and help support where you >> I've got a quick one. Friday on Friday the 15th at the IC, there's two performances of the um peace program, the IC's peace program. Um the third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be performing a presentation, the VR we learning about their guidance topics over the year 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. >> I I have one more I remember. Uh I believe that FA is selling their flowers starting this week on Wednesday. >> Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I think Wednesday is 3:30 to 6:00 and then Thursday, Friday 3:30 to 5. I don't know. You want some flowers? >> Yeah. Please go. Yes. Perfect for Mother's Day. >> Yes. >> Uh, one final thing. Thank you,
Adam, for being fantastic president. >> That's great. And uh I'll I'll give a great shout out to um well first of all you for being so great to work with this president and uh I'm really excited to see Jessica back in this seat for so much expertise. Thank you for volunteering to do that again and also uh for volunteering. Apparently you also volunteered at the tie-dye >> shirt last week. That was so fun. >> As did Dr. Seleno. I don't need to sneak out to the schools very often and it's been 12 years since I had a kid at that grade level. Um, and it was just amazing. It was so fun to see u the fun of the kids getting excited for field day and doing the tie-dye, but also to uh talking to
uh Allison Hansen, our teacher, and getting kind of like the scouting report before each class comes in about, you know, okay, this kid does this, this kid, this kid likes this, pay attention to this. And it was just a reminder about how individualized instruction is and how much our educators care about each kid and know exactly how to reach and put them into a spot to succeed. So it was fantastic. >> It was really fun. Yeah, the kids cared. They tried hard. It was really cute. Yes. And also they work together so well like you know I'll fold it you squeeze it. Let's fold it. You know like just to tag on to that the um field day they are still looking for volunteers for to fill shifts for the field day. So >> and
there are inside events if you're not an outside guest. >> Yes I can do inside event. >> Yes I signed up for it for inside. We're doing llama for four hours. I said Mickey and I both sounds fantastic. I do have to give a shout out to Miss Allison because Mickey's done the tie-dye since the boys were little and it used to be in the back janitor room and there were massive buckets and there was a lot of dumping and whatever. And now they have Mickey's like it was a welloiled machine with the squeezy bottles and like fantastic. >> Yeah. Just like well set up for sure. Mhm. All right. Anything else? Okay. Moving on. Personnel transactions. Dr. SL, anything you would like to point out? >> Yes, board members. Just a couple of reflections.
First, uh you'll note that there is an agenda to tonight's uh board report. And then I'd also ask that you take note of the fact that we're asking the board to please allow us to issue faculty contracts for the 2026 2017 school year. Would anyone like to make a motion to approve? >> I move to approve personal transactions. >> Second motion by Sarah, seconded by Leah. All those in favor of approving personnel transactions, please say I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? >> Consent agenda. Is there anything that anyone wants to discuss or would someone like to make a motion to approve? Move to approve. >> Second. >> Motion by Adam, seconded by Tom. All those in favor of approving the consent agenda, please say I. >> I. >> Anyone opposed? >> Discussion items. Tom, do
you want to start off with buildings, grounds, and transportation? >> Sure. Uh, we met on April 27th. Um, got a nice summary of what's going on. Um, the staffing, they're actually down. a couple of crew members at the moment, but they're finding a way to get everything done. Um, they're also lining up their summer crew. Um, and that'll probably come in our next board meeting. We get a lot of uh summertime help. Um, some spring mowing is uh heavily underway. Some landscaping is getting done. Um, and bandages. Um, we have uh one of the vans is going to auction that is not getting used anymore. Um, and we're talking about maybe Dave was looking into maybe replacing the big 16 ft mower lovingly called Big Red. Um, so we probably getting some quotes for that.
Um, you may have noticed there's some astro turf around some of the fields. Um, and we're we kind of got that for free. And um we'll be working on installing that when um time allows. Um on the referendum side, the bus drop off and pickup is going really well. Um and earth work um started this week, I believe. Um and we talked a little bit about um possibility of some roofing repair at the high school. And then on the transportation side, um we discussed some uh the second street pickup again and how the school bus safety drills went at that scene on April 20th and that went really well. And I think that covers most of the exciting things. We talked a little bit about fee schedule. Um yeah, and oh, one other thing that's
probably of importance with the short turnar around um for drivers next fall because the uh um school starting a couple weeks earlier, um it' be interesting to see how it affects some of our drivers. So hopefully we still get everybody to come back, but you know, there's a chance we might lose some because of that. >> Anyone have any questions for Tom? Thank you, Don. Uh Joel is not here to give our finance committee update. Would someone else like to >> I would love to update. >> Yeah. Um we met on April 13th. Um we talked about some donations that we discussed at our last meeting. Um again a big thank you to Oakland Hills for the hospital beds. Um we also got um a donation from the south boosters um for some fencing and
some gate um fixing. Um we discussed the bud budget calendar again. um which is a a monthly uh topic and we talked about the taxes received and we're a pretty good place um related to that and then we also talked about um we were going to be getting some Chromebooks. I think we approved that at our last meeting and our next meeting is next Monday 5:11. So short it was a short meeting. >> Um I can give the saw update. We met on Monday, April 20th. Uh we talked a little bit about um as Andrew already mentioned the district's plans for May 1st and the start of mental health awareness month. Um and that as um Mr. Christensen indicated a lot of the work is being led by students and the sources of strength group.
Um we talked about policy update from 434 release time for students and release time for religious instruction which is going to be on the agenda in a little while. Um and then he shared that we are hosting a prepared to training um that many of our student services staff will be attending and we're able to um include uh student service members from abundant life and Middleton and Warren and so um Brian was pretty happy that we're able to include other folks and everything. Um, oh, the one other thing is that Brian did say that the belonging team met. Um, they were starting to work on building level goals in alignment with the belonging statement. Um, and they'll share those with us this month. >> And then I want to talk the next one too. Um
I was actually not able to go because my daughter had tracked me. But um I the two things relevant to the school that they talked about um was for our girls swim team um usage of the village pool um from August 15th to 28th. It sounds like either that is has been decided or nearly decided but that was they just had like an update about that. And then the other thing that they've been talking about is hiring um a fundraising person to help do uh lead the fundraising um efforts for the red complex and for all that park land. Um so they've already met with someone um and that person has given them a lot of ideas. It's probably going to be a three-year project. That meeting was Tuesday. They were going to meet with
that person again on Friday. So I imagine that at some point they continue to go forward. There'll be a contract or something they'll officially hire. But that was interesting to hear. >> Yeah. So those are my two and that's it. So moving on to action items. As I just mentioned, we're going to talk about policy 434 time for students. Brian is not here. So are you going to share with us? >> I would be happy to. Yes. Um while you had your priorities in the absolute right spot by going to your daughter's track and field meeting or meet uh Brian is attending his senior daughter's uh swim meet tonight. So we want to make certain that he had the opportunity to do that. So I said I'd be happy to take on uh his good
work here. Uh this has been one that we've not really spent a lot of time um looking at over the past several years and thought it would be helpful to dust it off uh and look at this in connection with another policy called release time for religious instruction. Uh we are proposing uh two things. First that we eliminate release time for religious instruction and embed the exact same language found in that policy in this policy you see here. And then um wanting to lift the language uh uh as obtuse as it looks um directly from the state um law about uh demonstrating a high level of maturity and personal responsibility participating in off-campus activity. Um and indeed that's that's the language that's found in the statute. And so we just want to make certain that
we were in alignment with that. And then lastly, um really having the board of education direct the principal or um their designate to carry out the work. The board wouldn't necessarily be part of that uh decision. So we just thought it be a little clearer. Um, as it relates to the release time for religious religious instruction, as I referenced, it is the same language as was found before and uh is commensurate with the new Supreme Court decision that was made uh around um release time for religious instruction and that came out during the last uh Supreme Court series of decisions that came out last June. So, we just wanted to update that. Suffice to say, I'm happy to answer the question. >> Can we go up to the second paragraph? I just noticed on that
it's kind of redundant where we say 11th or 12th grade twice. So, I'm wondering if we just take that off at the end. So, stop it after if there's not an instructional class scheduled period. >> Yeah. I think the statute had it at the end and we didn't like it. So, we >> Is that what we did? >> Yeah. To the front. >> We didn't take it off. >> We couldn't change any of the So, yeah. Yeah, I think is that way. Okay. >> I think we Yeah, we were talking period, but >> we we said a lot of things in the last >> Okay, so maybe we can the um I just have a question on that though. Um can you give me an example of when like what an office off off campus
activity is? Uh let's say um great question. Uh probably the most popular one is a students being able to go out for lunch. >> Oh, maybe a student going out for study hall to go home or something like this. >> Okay. >> Is there any uh it's not really a question about the policy, but like what's the max that's cuz I know that some kids carry pretty light course loads. They just disappear for 3 hours. That's how how it's written. >> Conceivably that could happen. Yeah, I don't know that it does happen very often. >> Or Ryan's senior year, he had uh lunch and study hall. I can't remember which one was first. So, he was out and then it was I forget what the class was after that, but it only met like certain
dates. So, there be like are you supposed to go to school? >> Right now where there's like lunch and then a study hall. So, she comes home and does lunch and then she's got her studies. >> Oh, yeah. study. So try to get to the right. >> That's fine. >> You're getting into the college life already. >> Right. >> So I don't want to get into a battle with my first time. So, but well this is an Oford the uh I would argue that that should that that clause should not be offset and that it changes the entire meaning of that first sentence but that's you need to have the reference to the students who are required by Wisconsin law attached to the rest of that sentence rather than offset otherwise it's just saying all
students shall be expected to be a full-time attendance. Do you want this? So the first sent >> just to remove the two commas. >> All students who are required by Wisconsin. Yeah. >> Yes. >> All students. Okay. I get behind that. >> Yeah. Take out somewhere that I get. >> You guys may need to explain your Oxford count thing to Liz. So she's >> I am a English double major. Oxford. You know less is more people. The only thing the only thing that I'm saying that's like kind of grammatically incorrect, but I mean you can't really see it up here because I don't I I don't have any of those changes or crosses in mind. The only thing that I'm seeing is in the third paragraph the can cutting out where it says can board
of education shall but when that's cut out make that's two words smushed together so make a space there. >> Oh yeah >> and then um not too much uh further I think it's between the to the above statement and uh the those that is cut out the four has two spaces in it. So that's just what I saw. >> Those are my kind of calls. >> She was cons. >> I appreciate it. >> Anything else? >> Motion to approve >> With the changes. Yeah. >> Second. >> This is a first reading. So vote by second by Sarah Liz. Just yes. Leah, >> yes. >> Sarah, >> Yes. Also, yes. >> Thank you. >> Kind of put you in a bad spot. >> I don't know. Is that too much? >> And then board members, we
ask for your thoughtful consideration of removing board policy 434.1, release time for instructions. >> So moved. Second >> motion by Leah, second by Adam to remove board policy 434.1. Also a roll call vote. >> Liz, >> yes. >> Sarah, >> yes. >> Tom, >> Yes. I'm also a yes. >> Thank you. >> All right, moving on to consider 26 27 school fees. >> Uh good evening again, board members. Uh, as we do this time every year, um, we ask for the board's consideration of, um, school fees for the upcoming school year. Probably the best way to share this with you would be to do so with our fine. Um, we are proposing a couple of changes um, which have not been part of our normal uh, ask uh, at least for the past 10 years
that I've been here and one of them um, probably as long as maybe even Scott D. who uh has been here for 15 16 years. I was waiting for our Yeah. better in person like Scott. Um and to that um I want to take a moment just to speak to a proposal um relative to just DON'T ME. We're proposing uh for the first time uh in as long as we can remember a revisioning of our school fee for transportation. Um as you know um we are one of the few school districts in the state of Wisconsin to provide transportation um opportunities more than what the law requires. Uh and in fact um all of our students in grades kindergarten through I believe it is uh fifth grade uh can transport on our school buses uh
even if they live within 2 miles. Uh and that's regardless of whether or not there is a safe routes to school uh issue. uh families with young people in grades 6 through 12 um if they want to attend school on our buses uh they certainly can do that but there's a fee of $200. We're proposing that we raise that fee uh to $300 and we don't make that recommendation lightly. Uh we make it because the costs of um doing and providing the services become quite quite large. And let me give you an overview as to what those costs are associated with. Uh first and foremost, having a fleet the size uh necessary in order to accommodate the requests. Um you know uh more than anyone that the cost of buses themselves have gone up dramatically
over the course of the past several years even since prior to the pandemic. I I anecdotally would tell you I think they've gone up about double the amount for bus. And then the personnel uh required to transport our young people safely. Uh has the safe the cost of that has gone up as have insurance, oh goodness, diesel fuel, um uh rubber, all the kinds of things that come with uh sourcing parts uh for our vehicles, they've gone up. So while it may seem like a very large increase, indeed it is uh for our families, it is in my opinion dimminimous in relationship to the overall um pricing uh that we provide uh for for kids to to ride that bus as a as a value add in our community. Um then you'll note that commodities
um continue to escalate in despite the district's participation in uh the food co-op that Michelle Bank asked you to consider last time. We are in need of raising our meal prices uh accordingly. Here again, one of the few school districts in the state of Wisconsin uh that actually runs its own funding for school lunches without taking a hand from our general funding. That is huge. That is huge. I know many boards of education have to give them to their funds in order to account for other school lunches. We're not one of them and we'd like to keep it that way. Um we're fortunate that despite uh declining enrollment, we're continuing to see uh active participation in our school meal program. It's not just our lunches, but our breakfasts. And quite frankly, when you look at
our our meal prices for adults, uh $5 for a lunch, uh I don't mean to take anything away from any of our restaurants nearby, but where can you get a hearty meal for $5 um and and have it right there in your work location? So, we're very fortunate in this regard. And last but not least, we're asking for the board's consideration of a change, a slight increase of about $5 for our student registration fee here. Again, this is a fee that's not been touched uh to my remembrance within the past 10 years that I've been here in Mount Toro. Um and as you might imagine, costs continue to escalate. And we also want to provide a service that would be new to our families. Maybe you've even seen it recently. It's called Parent Square. This
is to respond to families who have children particularly in multiple buildings. Um trying to keep track of all of the events that are happening uh for their children. Um to do this in an area that um they can just get one email um for for per day or for for the week for that matter. Um would you be willing to decrease the um kind of the bus fair for lack of a better term? um if slash when the costs go down, would that be something that
would be looked into if it does go down? >> From your lips to God's viewers, I would love those prices to go down, right? Uh it's not just the cost of diesel that necessitates the increase in costs. And in fact, I anticipate we're going to continue to see costs escalate and we're doing our best to save that money, but most assuredly, if there's anything we can do to go backwards, we're paying for it. Um, we recognize we're asking a lot of our families, >> but we've also never raised it. >> We have not ever raised it. >> It's been steady at 200 since we put it into effect. >> And I was like, correct the article, the linked articles. There's other school districts that are raising their bus fees as much as $650. Is that
the >> That's the one I put in there. Yeah, I thought it was fascinating. >> Yeah. So I swear it was like $800 for >> No, Andrew, you're so right. We we don't make this recommendation lightly. Thank you for saying that. >> And I totally I totally understand it cuz I mean just equipment, you know, people. I mean, we got to look after our people, too. So, um, totally understand it. just wanted to put on the record for if if a miracle does happen, would would there be would there be, you know, some sort of way to bring it down? >> Yeah. >> Any other questions or comments? >> Just I love that we're able to still fund their food service. It's amazing. And he's and those increases in contrast are pretty minor. Just trying
to make ends meet. >> I'm amazed that she puts all of that into one meal for that. Like >> exactly. She's good. >> She is so kind to make a recommendation or consider recommending. >> Yeah. Is there anything to note? >> Yes, Madam President, if you don't mind just noting uh the buildings, grounds, and transportation team has said that um barring any really uh necessary uh
uh topics. Maybe we'll just do a report to the BGT here in May as that meeting date typically falls on Memorial Day. I don't think there's anything too too pressing as of now, but certainly we'll keep you posted. Uh the proposed meeting date would be that Tuesday after Memorial Day was I think the 26thish there if we had to. >> Um and I think I'm going to be out of the state. >> No problem. >> That would be my first committee meeting. >> These things happen and we don't think we're going to have a meeting as of yet.
