Hi, I'm Brad Sarin, superintendent of the Sun Prairie Area School District, joined by, uh, the director of business and finance, uh, Matt Clark here to present to the board of education in the community, the operational expectation on asset protection, which is operational expectation 7. I'm happy to report to the board that uh after our analysis that we find that we are in compliance with all 20 areas of board expectations in the uh monitoring report for asset protection. And so what is asset protection? Asset protection covers a number of different areas. Uh ensuring that we've got property insurance that's adequate to the um assets that we've not only got in buildings but also inside of those buildings. proper levels for errors and omission service safeguards in place to ensure that we can address any theft that

happens including from employees. Proper safeguards that uh that really do an overview of the electronic files that we have and any fixed assets that the district has and also maintaining the facilities in a safe manner. And so from here I'm going to turn it over to Matt Clark to do uh a more in-depth uh coverage of what operational expectation 7 is. Matt, >> thanks Brad. Uh OE7 um asset protection as Brad alluded to focuses on the safeguards that the district has in place to protect its assets. So kind of a timely OE. Um, when things like a car crash into Meadow View Elementary occur, OE7 really steps in to look at protecting all of our assets and making sure that we have all the insurance coverage that we need um not only for things like

that, but protecting again um against, you know, employee theft errors, ensuring we have proper investment of district funds. So really protecting the district as a whole, not only its physical um properties, but um funds and and other assets that the district owns. So within OE7, there are 20 compliance measures and I'm happy to report that all 20 measures are fully in compliance with schoolboard expectations. linked in this slide as well as in diligent um is the OE7 monitoring report along with supporting documentation um which includes our insurance summaries, facilities and grounds maintenance logs and technology backup documentation. OE7 reflects the collaborative work um not only in our business office but um with technology and facilities and grounds, everyone working together um who are constantly working to ensure the district's assets are properly protected. So I

want to take a moment just to thank um each member of those teams. as well. As with the other operational expectations, our focus remains on continuous improvement for OE7. That includes continuing to fund our Fund 46 long-term capital investment account. Um, in hand with that, um, we're also working to make sure we're updating our capital maintenance plan, our 10-year plan, and bringing that to the school board for annual approval. um and regularly reviewing um our insurance limits and coverages um with our partners at RNR Insurance to ensure that the district maintains standard and appropriate coverage levels as those change on a year-to-year basis. Lastly, similar to OE5 and OE6, uh district administration in the school board will continue to collaboratively work on updating interpretations for the revised OE7 policy that will be used to monitor

the 2526 fiscal year. As always, we thank you, the school board, for your continued support, and I'm happy to answer any questions that you have. [music]
