And for every, why everyone's here today, we are moving on to our 6.0 recognition and awards. Madam President, Board members, cabinet and guests. I have the honor of starting off the formal recognition of our teachers of the year at this board meeting. And later tonight, the board of education will take action on a resolution declaring next week as teacher appreciation week. Teaching is a profession that all other professions grow from, and it is not only fitting that we take the time to honor our teachers. It is essential that we recognize and celebrate the work and dedication that our teachers exhibit daily in this

unprecedented year. Selecting a site teacher of the year begins in February where sites are asked to begin the selection process by selecting a teacher from their site. In March, our site teachers of the year submit letters of recommendations and complete a questionnaire. Then in April, a committee of bargaining unit representatives, managers, and myself. get the opportunity to interview each of the site teachers of the year. It is a magical day, probably the best day I have had all year. The day was filled with laughter, heartfelt, genuine emotion, and just an uplifting feeling that our Azusa Unified School District students are in very good hands. Teachers from each level and from all sites. spoke about what is important to them and what they value to ensure that all students learn, such as Foothill Middle School's Carlos

Rios Rodriguez, who stated that he builds a community of learners where students are safe, or Lee's Elementary's Stacey Reed, who spoke eloquently about student equity and access. It was an emotion that Horacio Trejo from Bellydale Elementary shared about students and teaching, stating that he only has 180 days to teach a year's worth of content to students. And on a personal note, Blaston High School's Daniel Infante Sanchez shared the book, Always Running, that he's reading with his students. That was my diversified, my narrative book when I was in high school. And to hear that Mr. Sanchez is connecting this book to Manzalo's hierarchy of needs is absolutely powerful. I could go on and on talking about each of our outstanding teachers of the year. In a few moments, you will get to meet our teachers of

the year. Last year for this event, our site administrators were asked. to create individual video clips that recognized and celebrated our teachers of the year. I want to thank our administrators for outdoing themselves with this year's video clips. In closing, I would like to thank Margaret McCattin, our HR personnel technician, who coordinated and quarterbacked this teacher of the year process from February through today. I also want to thank our panel and above all, I want to thank our teachers for their work that they have all had to do this year, a year like no other. So without further ado, congratulations to all of our teachers of the year and please enjoy the video. With great pleasure that I introduce Ms. Pam Gouley as Azusa Adult Education Center's Teacher of the Year. Ms. Gulli has been

with AEC since 2008 when she started as a substitute and is now teaching beginning ESL in the morning and evening. Ms. Gulli is dedicated to ensuring students succeed and routinely goes above and beyond to make sure students feel comfortable and have real life experiences, especially in this time of online instruction. This year, Ms. Gouley has increased her own teaching capacity by incorporating and teaching new technological skills within her classroom. She easily changes between web-based applications to increase student communication skills and incorporates multimedia projects designed to increase students' computer skills and fluency. Ms. Gouley is well-respected by all stakeholders in the community. Please help me congratulate Ms. Pam Gouley as AEC's Teacher of the Year. Hello, my name is Martin Gomez and I am the proud principal of Azusa High School. On behalf of our students,

our staff, and our community, we are extremely proud to recognize Ms. Victoria Davis as Azusa High School Teacher of the Year. Congratulations Vicky, you're the best. Hi Ms. Davis, congratulations on your award for Teacher of the Year. You're truly the best. Congratulations Ms. Davis on being chosen as Azusa High School's Teacher of the Year. Your support of your colleagues and professional growth and development are amazing. Congratulations Miss Davis, well deserved for being Teacher of the Year at Azusa High School. Introducing the phenomenal, creative, often imitated, and never duplicated Center Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Song Yi. At Center, Song, an immigrant herself, has utilized her skills to bring top-tier math instruction to students of diverse backgrounds. Mrs. Yi has year after year continuously impressed students and families with her ability to make the complexities of

math attainable for students who have traditionally struggled in the subject. To watch her teach a class is comparable to have seen Kobe Bryant hit a game-winning shot. Truly. masterpiece. You would have thought distance learning would slow down this all-star, but true to the master she is, she embraced it and went to work quickly researching, trying different applications, and measuring their effectiveness to reach her students. In turn, she was able to help colleagues navigate this new world, offering her assistance both in meetings and to anyone who reached out. Mrs. Yee did not stop there. Also, she continued the after-school intervention program and was an ELPAC test administrator. The Center family is proud to share our Teacher of the Year with all of Azusa, Mrs. Song. My name is Laura Clark, and I'm the principal of Dalton

School. I am honored to introduce our amazing Teacher of the Year, Renee French-Burton. I have worked with Renee for over 20 years. Her primary focus has always been the success of students and their families. Renee cares so deeply about her students and went back to school after being a general education teacher for several years to earn a special education credential to provide more for those individuals who have additional challenges. Special education can have so many difficult obstacles and quandaries, but Renee seems to have superpowers. I have seen her be so resilient, patient, and flexible throughout it all. It doesn't matter what comes her way. She will react with professionalism and strength. Her wonderful attitude and strong work ethic have positively impacted our staff as well. As a principal, it has been music to my ears

when I am spread thin and I hear, is there anything I can do for you? It means so much to all of us to have such a caring person in our corner. Congratulations, Renee, on being the Dalton Teacher of the Year. This honor is so well deserved. Good evening. My name is Dr. Racinas and I'm the very proud principal at Ellington's Most Amazing TK-8. I'm very excited to announce our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Gabby DeAlva. Gabby's entire life has been devoted to ensuring a strong foundation for all of her kids, and she considers herself unbiased when she emphasizes that kindergarten is the most important grade out of all of TK-12. debuts her life to kindergarten no matter what so what does that look like when the pandemic hit gabby decided that staying connected to

both parents and students would be everything and so she went above and beyond each and every day to create a classroom feel at home she even dedicated her evenings to reading bedtime stories to her students what i love most about mrs d'alba is that she believes in high expectations i never hear but they can't come out of her mouth instead she focuses on what students can do Gabby, the world goes around because of teachers like you. You provide a strong foundation at Ellington and you pour your heart and soul into what you do and it's admirable. A huge congratulations to Ellington's Teacher of the Most Unforgettable Year, Mrs. Gabby DeAlba. Way to go. Congratulations. Foothill Middle School is proud to present Mr. Carlos Rios-Rodriguez as its Teacher of the Year. Mr. Rios-Rodriguez is an exceptional

teacher who consistently demonstrates his passion for teaching music. Prior to the pandemic, Mr. Rios Rodriguez went above and beyond his duties to support musical productions as well as the AUSD Moriachi program. When the pandemic closed our schools, Mr. Rios Rodriguez faced the unprecedented challenge and continued to provide our students with a rich, rigorous music program. Following his leads, our students have managed to build their skills and create some of the most beautiful concerts. These concerts represent Mr. Rodriguez's dedication and passion to his students. Every note our students have learned under his guidance proves that a teacher's dedication can overcome any barrier. Finally, our staff, students, and parents were especially proud when Carlos and the AUSD Mariachi program were featured in the news story, Fox 11 School Standout. Moments like these reflect the positive impact Carlos

has had in promoting the value music in schools. Good evening, I'm Victoria Velasquez, principal of Hodge School. It's my honor to present to you Rachel Jeffrey. Rachel is our Teacher of the Year. She's pictured here with her husband and her daughter. Rachel is a woman who treasures her family and treasures her Hodge family. She's been with us for five years and she is a superstar. Whether it's presenting to colleagues on how to enhance access for students during distance learning or working with her students to create access to high levels of rigor. through collaborative conversations and building a garden of learners who embrace community. Every bunny loves Rachel. Rachel is radiant, awesome, caring, helpful, energetic, and lovable. A little poem written by her colleagues to thank her for her work. She engages her students on a

social-emotional level. She brings in the arts. And she works, as I said, at high levels of engagement, but for high levels of access to the Common Core State Standards. She is our queen of hearts. Please celebrate Rachel Jeffrey, our teacher of the year. Good evening. I'm Diana Rojas, proud principal of Charles H. Lee Elementary School, and it is with great pleasure that I present our amazing resource teacher, Mrs. Stacey Reed, as our teacher of the year. Mrs. Reed has been an extraordinary AUSD teacher for over 25 years. As you all know, this year has been the year of the essential worker. Mrs. Reed definitely supersedes this title. Not only is she super essential to all of the students, parents, and staff at Lee for her support to all, but she is truly incredible at everything

she does. I call her my second brain because most of us could not do our jobs as well as we do without her. From the moment you meet her, she will steal your heart, not your hamburger, because she is a true live Mary Poppins. Mrs. Reed has the power to anticipate your needs and provide you with any type of assistance or guidance that you require, even virtually or on her cell phone from the minute she wakes up to the minute she goes to bed. Mrs. Reed is well respected and loved by all her colleagues, students, and their families. So for these reasons and so many more, we are truly blessed and proud to recognize her as Teacher of the Year 2021 for Lee Elementary. I'm the Director of ECE and I'm honored to present to

you the Longfellow's Teacher of the Year for 2020-21, Jane Aguilera. Mrs. Aguilera is described as caring, thoughtful, supportive, and committed to all who interact with her. Mrs. Ma, a teacher who works closely with her, recruited her for AUSD 14 years ago. Since then, Mrs. Aguilera has inspired and impacted many lives. Mrs. Aguilera is passionate about teaching and sets high expectations for each and every one of her students. She uses effective teaching strategies to ensure our preschool students are learning while having a lot of fun doing so. Her positive attitude and approach to new ideas and learning, as well as her support of peers to new learning, have contributed greatly to student success at our school. She embraces challenges and optimism with dedication. She's highly respected by colleagues and parents because of her commitment to service.

The classroom team she works with daily believes that she is one of a kind and she truly... Good evening. I am Marcella Fonseca, the very proud principal of Magnolia Elementary School. It is my great honor and privilege to present to you our Wild Teacher of the Year, Angela Wright. Mrs. Wright is an amazing fifth and sixth grade teacher who faced the challenge of education in a pandemic. and turn it into the opportunity of a lifetime for her students and their families. Because Mrs. Wright masterfully brought school to life on their screens, her students have become authors, critical thinkers, and leaders. One parent wrote, there is such a powerful dynamic in her class that we are hoping it does not falter once online school ends. Mrs. Wright is an exceptional educator and not a minute has

been wasted in her pursuit of cultivating her young scholars. In her spare time, Angie is a wife and mom, daughter and sister, and friend. There is no doubt of the year could be attached to each of those two. Angie, you are a Wild Mustang and we are proud to name you as our Teacher of the Year. Our hearts are wild for you. Congratulations! Good evening. I am Jeanette Flores, proud principal of Murray Elementary and I am honored to recognize Ms. Gianna Gaetan as our beloved Teacher of the Year. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk once said, A good teacher is like a candle. It consumes itself to light the way for others. We know her as Gianna or G to her family and friends, but to her students, she will always be Ms. Gaetan. Gianna began preparing to

be a teacher when she was just a little girl, volunteering in Mrs. Walker's and Mrs. Valdez's classroom and later returning to their class to complete her student teaching. Gianna knew all of her students were very capable of success. and she was able to tap into each one of her students' unique strengths and use those strengths to motivate each and every one of them to do their best. Dedicated, compassionate, and joyful are how to best describe our amazing Gianna. She was always willing to go the extra mile to reach all of her students. Gianna enjoyed working with students who aren't always the easiest to reach. She loved them unconditionally and really strived to give them a quality educational experience. Haim Ganat once said, I have come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element

in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. At Murray Elementary School, Gianna was that decisive element. She was like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae, the beautiful rainbow that stretches for miles after a storm. and the glow of hope in the eyes of every child. Ms. Caetán was proud of all of her students and said to them, always make good choices. Gianna is survived by her mother and father, her brothers George and Gabriel, and her sister Janice. Murray Elementary is proud to recognize Gianna as our Teacher of the Year and our Angel in Heaven. Good evening. My name is Antonio Flores, Principal of Paramount Elementary, and it is with great pleasure to introduce to you Paramount Elementary's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Claudia De La O. Claudia has

been teaching for 20 years. She taught at Murray Elementary for 12 years and in the last eight years at Paramount. During these years, Claudia has taught kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grades. Claudia is a dynamic and passionate teacher. This is demonstrated through her daily lesson plans, her relationships with students and parents, and her willingness to go above and beyond. Claudia is a master at making learning fun and exciting. Her students are engaged and always excited to share what they have learned. Clyda credits her desire to serve and passion for teaching from the example set by her mother Aurora and from the loving support from her husband George, daughter Rebecca, who is a student at UCLA, and her son Marcos, who is a junior at Monrovia High School. Through her dedication and commitment, it is

easy to see why Clyda De La O is Paramount Elementary's Teacher of the Year. My name is Jenny Wiebe, Principal of Powell School of the Arts, and I am proud to introduce to you Patty Abalo, Powell's Teacher of the Year. Patty is a creative, engaging, and loving teacher. She embraces the uniqueness of every child and always shows up to celebrate their growth and success. At our award ceremonies, she writes a personal poem for the child that she is honoring. And speaking of showing up, she shows up as a backstage coordinator for our school musical. She shows up for Cinco de Mayo and Sock Hops. And another place she really shows up is for her teaching team. As you can see in these pictures, she is a listener. She makes us smile. She cooperates with others

to get things done and even pushes us a bit when we need it. Patty is like a plant in the garden, always looking for new ways to grow and learn. She is sunshine to our community. Whether it's partnering her class with APU Buddies for Ceramics or honoring a loved colleague, Patti makes us feel like a family. So tonight, Patty, we want to honor you and say thank you for being such an integral part of our Powell family. Congratulations. Good evening. I am Kent Stout, principal at Sierra High School. I am pleased to announce Mrs. Barbara Klaus as our Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Klaus has been teaching in Azusa for over 20 years. She has taught Integrated Math 1 and 2 and AP Environmental Science. Barbara is actively involved in a variety of ways at

Sierra. She has served as the EL Contact Technology Rep, oversees the APEX program, serves on our school site council, and was the co-author of our school report for the WASTE team. And she analyzed the school data for the Model Continuation High School application. Barbara is also the Union Rep and was recently elected to the AEA Executive Board as the High School Representative. Overwhelmingly, the students and staff nominated Mrs. Klaus this year. She provides both academic and emotional support to her students. One student said, Mrs. Klaus helped me to finally understand math. The students, parents, and staff could not be more proud that Mrs. Klaus is Sierra High School's Teacher of the Year. Congratulations! Hello, I'm Yvette Walker, principal of Slauson Middle School, and I am proud to present Mr. Kimball Coburn as this year's Teacher

of the Year. What an honor it is to have Kimball as part of the Slauson team. He welcomes creativity and shares his special interest in media and technology with our students. Kimball is always willing to work collaboratively with staff and students, taking the lead on overseeing lunchtime activities, field trips, and leadership activities for our students. Students look forward to their time in class where they can explore their creativity in creating short stories, movies, commercials, storyboards, and videos. Kimball builds confidence and knows just the right balance to keep his students focused. The end results are always such a pleasure to watch. Every year, we look forward to the culmination of student projects that are presented at the La Pantera Student Video Festival Awards Show. Thank you for sharing not only your passion, but your depth of

knowledge and media with our students. Congratulations to Mr. Kimball Coburn, Slauson's Teacher of the Year. The Special Education Resource Center, known as the CERC, is delighted to introduce Yvette Valencia as the CERC's Teacher of the Year. Yvette serves a unique position in the Azusa Unified School District. As the itinerant teacher working with students with orthopedic impairments, she is a traveling teacher who is essentially the Mary Poppins of special education. She comes with an incredible bag of solutions that magically open doors for students to access their education. She not only works with students enrolled in Azusa classrooms, but works with most districts in the East San Gabriel Valley SELPA. This means she might start her day in an IEP in Covina Valley, see a student in Baldwin Park before lunch, and end her day on a

virtual training for parents at the SERC. Across the SELPA, colleagues, parents, and students consistently share their appreciation for her expertise, creativity, and can-do approach to students. Congratulations, Yvette! My name is Adriana Garcia Medina and it is my honor to recognize Mr. Horacio Trejo as Valleydale's Teacher of the Year. Mr. Trejo, our resource teacher, has served for 24 years and has taught first through fifth grade and he is known at Valleydale as Batman. And like superheroes, he accomplishes feats that we cannot explain. He's involved in all aspects of our school and continuously improves our programs and practices. He runs interventions, offers professional learning, gives tech support, and genuinely will help anyone in need. He turns challenges into opportunities while keeping students at the forefront of his work. He ensures that they have a quality education in

a supportive environment. and this truly inspires those around him. His work ethic, drive and knowledge make him an invaluable member of our team. Day in and day out, he is an incredible model of a teacher, mentor, leader and friend. My name is Mr. Fernandez, the principal here at Glassville High School. We would like to honor our Teacher of the Year, Mr. Daniel Infante Sanchez with a spoken word performance titled, Hootah! He loves the big easy and always listens to Yeezy. Hootah! His kids are podcasting and posting to Insta. Who dat? When the Lakers get that dub, he always races downtown in his fast car. Who dat? He's infante. He's got it going on. Who dat? In the classrooms where it's at, his kids are doing analysis paralysis and asking, what's the purpose of that? Who

dat? On the road, he's got his buddy Gus and his girl. They be going camping and exploring. What he's learning ain't boring. Who dat? He's infante. He's got it going on. He leads our associated student body class to engage the community. Who dat? He imagines bigger and better things for all students on campus. Hootah! He collaborates with teachers and staff to promote greater understanding of our students. Hootah! Bravo, bravo. I want to thank, first congratulate all of our teachers of the year and thank our administrators for putting these videos together. Now I have the distinct honor of announcing our 2020-2021 District Teacher of the Year. He is a true superstar, and we are very proud and excited to announce that Daniel Infante Sanchez from Gladstone High School is our 2020-2021 District Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations, Daniel. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I first want to turn this over to Mr. Sanchez. I'm sorry, Mr. Fernandez to say a couple words. Thank you, Mr. Ranquillo. Board of Education, thank you for this honor and this time and Superintendent Ortega and his cabinet for this time to... recognize Mr. Infante here. When you look at the top of John Wooden's Pyramid of Success, you see the words competitive greatness, and you see a picture of Mr. Infante. He's been brilliant on a team of bright stars here at Gladstone this year, just like all of Azusa Unified. This year has been extremely challenging to be called Teacher of the Year this year. It's something for the ages, and we are so proud of Mr. Infante and what he's done with our kids. And the testament

is... what we see on social media that is all Mr. Infante pushing his kids to the limit so that they still have the chances to learn this year despite all of our challenges so thank you Mr. Infante. I appreciate it thank you so much. Mr. Infante, Sanchez you're welcome to say a couple words. I'm just I'm honored and humbled that the spotlight happens to be on me right now and among these other incredible teachers. I think it was during Ms. Gaetan's video where it said that teaching was kind of like a candle where you consume yourself. And that's one of the ideas that kind of stuck with me early on, where you really got to give a lot of your heart and soul to this career if you want to do a phenomenal job, if

you really want to stand out, because it's a career that... invites a lot of people with big hearts to just kind of give back to their community. And so I try to phrase frame that within an ability to be able to see what it is that I am consuming. Am I consuming tiredness, jadedness, the same routine? Or do I try to keep myself on my toes because I feel empowered because I have great administrators? Am I allowed to? express this level of creativity in my design and thinking so that my students can challenge themselves and step up to new levels that they hadn't before. And I feel like it just comes from an atmosphere of success and of culture and just confidence in letting people be who they are and letting people shine. So I

just want to thank my administrators for that little rap in my video. And it was just it was incredible. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. And now I would like to welcome Melissa Acantar from Foothill Credit Union to present Mr. Infante with an award. Yes. Hi. Good evening. Thank you so much for allowing me to join. These are my favorite events to attend. So I'm happy to be here on behalf of Foothill Credit Union to show support to our teachers of the year. Congratulations to everyone. And in keeping with tradition, of course, we are going to award the district teacher of the year with a hundred dollar check just to recognize your hard work and your achievements and your dedication towards your students. So congratulations, Mr. infantescentes. Congratulations. Thank you so much. Now

I'm extra happy that I have an account with you guys. Awesome. And now, Madam President, I'll turn the presentation over to you. Great. Thank you. Did you guys want to say something now or wait for your public comment? Let's go ahead and wait for the public comment. We're moving on to our agenda item 7.1, public comment, reports, and requests by the board. I'm sorry, let me move back. 7.1, public comment on agenda or non-agenda items. Lika, do we have any hands raised? Yes, we have one. We'll start with Alan French. You may unmute your mic. Hi, everyone. Can you hear me okay? Yes, we can. Okay, great. Good evening, everyone. I just wanted to speak about the ongoing discussions regarding the district's reorganization models. Specifically, my concern involves Gazusa and Gladstone High. I have been

following the models detailed in reorganization meetings and understand that one idea mentioned in a prior session is to close both schools and create a new high school and mascot on an existing high school property. I am cognizant that no decision has been made, but while thinking about it, it would be terrible to lose Azusa and Gladstone High. They have been around for decades, carry a storied history, and are landmarks of the area. Being an alumnus of Azusa High, I can tell all of you that there is a lot of pride in attending and graduating from the campus. This is due to the fact that countless graduates have sent their kids there, and also because many alumni have gone on to long and successful careers in teaching and counseling at the school. This is all symbolic

of the tradition and pride Azusa High has built since it opened in 1956. I don't doubt Gladstone High students feel the same way about their campus, but given my history with Azusa High, I have first-hand knowledge of the feelings surrounding it. In addition, I feel that parents will not be receptive to the closures of either school for a couple of reasons. First, Azusa and Gladstone recently installed new tracks and football fields. Although the idea calls for an existing property to be the site of the new high school, this would still result in alterations to one of the football fields and the complete closure of another. Parents who voted for Measure K, which made the tracks and fields possible, will be disappointed and likely angry to see their support be for naught, as well as express

frustration at this development if it came to fruition. Second, I fear closing the schools will compel parents to withdraw their kids from Azusa Unified and send them to neighboring campuses. This would only add to the enrollment issue the district is currently facing. And of course, we all want to see enrollment increase. I fully understand that the board is going to face tough decisions and no one wants to see any school close. But I also hope the board will consider keeping each high school open. I have spoken with several Azusa High alumni about this possibility while emphasizing no decision has been made. All of them expressed surprise and sadness upon learning this, and it has also been rightly pointed out by some that the mascot pays tribute to the Aztec culture. I don't believe closing Azusa

and Gladstone High would be a popular decision. In fact, it could bring negative long-term effects. On all of those grounds, I strongly urge the board to retain each school. And I also urge the board, if at all possible, to find a way to keep Powell Elementary open because it's been a wonderful school for many years and it immerses children in the arts. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Allen French, for your comments. Do we have any more people that have their hands raised? We do not. Okay. Now we'll move on to... Item 8.1, comments, reports, and requests by the Board of Education. We have Board Member Cruz-Gonzalez. Thank you. I'll just start off by just reflecting on what we just saw about our teachers of the year. I mean, I know they're just a snapshot, one

teacher from each school, but it's just incredible what they are doing in our schools and what they've done this past year and continue to do, serving our students, serving our community. And so I just want to say thank you to all of you and thank you to all teachers and thank you for... Thank you for what you do to serve our community. And I'll just leave it at that. Thank you. Thank you. Board Member Rodriguez-Tana. Good evening, everyone. First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo tomorrow, May 5th, the anniversary of the victory of Mexico over French forces at Pueblo in 1962, observed by Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. I also want to congratulate all the teachers that were nominated by their peers for Teacher of the Year at their school site.

Thank you especially Daniel Infante Sanchez from Gladstone High School, our Teacher of the Year for 2021. I also want to wish all teachers happy Teachers Appreciation Week. Thank you for all you do for the students at AUSD during these difficult times. We couldn't have did it without you. I want to start off by saying the Azusa Leadership Learning Educational Foundation Spring Fundraiser was a success. Together we rise. I wanted to thank the students. They did a great job on their speeches. And also, Band Director Carlos Rodriguez for having us have that video with the Mariachi students. That really went well. I want to thank all. It was a success. We made enough money for $3,000 high school scholarships for our students at AUSD. I want to thank everyone that participated, my colleagues, administration, teachers, classified

employees, and all the donors. Superintendent Ortega, someone's having a lunch with him, so he's... at Northwoods Inn. So thank you, Mr. Ortega, for offering yourself for that. Mayor Robert Gonzalez, Councilmember Eddie Alvarez, the ELS Stores Outlet, Adelino's Restaurant, Max's Cuisine, Mariccio's Mexican Restaurant, AUSD Director of EL Services, Norma Camacho, and Michael Peña Jr., our song man. I did go to center and Glaston High School to visit the campuses. Very well organized, like the elementary schools. The walkthrough was great. All the PPE was all done by protocol. I'm just so impressed how organized they are. And also, when we visit Think Together program, Melissa Castaneda is always doing a great job with the students there. I want to thank Superintendent Ortega for taking the time to take me to the school tours. I went to Longfellow

and I read to the students. They were very good and they were so happy to see me, but I was really happy to see them too. And their favorite book was My Grandpa is Great. We went through all the PPE protocols. I want to thank Director Jenny Lee for the invite. I'd like to thank Think Together for their weekly report showing all the great things that our students are doing and for their partnership. Congratulations Azusa High and Gladstone High again for making the U of today for best schools. Thank you students, parents, administration that made this happen. And by the way, Center School had the best video. If you haven't seen it yet, the welcome back video was so great. They were all singing and dancing. And now I see why Miss Yee has teacher

of the year. Because if you see the video, you'll see her. She was getting down pretty good. I'll tell you. So thank you. Thank you for your comments. Board member Bo. Yes. Good evening, everyone. I'd like to also take a moment to recognize all of the educators in Azusa, in our state, in our country for the tremendous lift and load that everyone has participated in. This year, especially, but in all years and in our time to come to our full reopening toward next year. I was really excited to participate in and attend the Azusa Leaders for Learning Foundation fundraiser, where I witnessed some incredible MC skills by our superintendent Ortega. I've never seen him so excited to talk about purses and about how great they'll look on everyone's arm. So that was nice to see

you in a different role. And also in the spirit of recognizing our educators, our students who will benefit from the foundation scholarships. I also want to put on everyone's radar that the Azusa Rotary is raising money for its scholarships as well. And the goal is to provide a scholarship to three students at each of our high schools. So as you are looking at your springtime giving, if you could also consider making a donation to the Azusa Rotary to benefit its scholarship programs. And that's all I have for today. Great. Thank you for your comments. We have board member Greer. Good evening, everyone. And yeah, I want to echo my colleagues in just celebrating the teachers out there, all the teachers out there, especially those here in Azusa. And it was said, you know, more than

once this evening that if... ever there was a year to get teacher of the year. And if, and if ever that communicated your, your commitment and who you are and what you, what you do as a teacher, this, this is that year. I mean, this is one of those years where, you know, everybody might need to get teacher of the year, but because we highlight and identify, you know, some of those who, who, who shine even that much more brightly it's, it's just incredible to just get a snapshot. of that this evening. I'll say it even warms my heart. I went to school with Gianna Gaitan, and so it warms my heart to see her having won there at her school. And Daniel and Fonte Sanchez, grateful to have been able to already see you

in action and partner with you on some creative things and very well-deserved and looking forward to more from you. Congratulations to you, sir. A couple other things that I wanted to share. One was I did hold an online coffee this last week, and there was a lot of just rich conversation and discussion. And there were a number of things that I want to communicate it. And I want to make sure that I bring back here and communicate them out. One of the thoughts that came out on multiple occasions is the concept or the idea as we move forward, exploring what virtual options look like into the future, even as we come back and are able to have in-person again, as we have in the past. There was a lot of conversation around what would it

look like for virtual to still remain an option. There was also some questions around. just diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a request for an update. Could you, in a moment during your updates, maybe share out how often do we do the DEI updates? I know that we have had at least one this year, but maybe even two. Okay. And I'm seeing four signaled to me. So there are plenty. But yeah, so that was a request to see. an update. And with that, some conversation came around, how do we get the word out just on things like that? And even with reorganization, how do we get some of that word out? And I challenged the group that was there to, you know, instead of us just saying, let's just do more, let's just get the word

out, let's do a better job. Let's really think through what do we currently utilize. And what are some additional things that we can think through that we don't utilize? Because sometimes we use all channels at school board meetings and we use Peach Jar and there can be all calls and there's text messages on certain items. But there are still some folks who don't quite get that, hear the word. And so there was a bit of some conversation there. And one question that came up in regards to reorganization is what is the option of having snail mail? And for that in particular, since there are some big conversations going on there, recognizing that we moved away from that, what would it look like to see that there are some matters that rise to the level of

importance to such a degree that maybe we do send out a mail notice, a snail mail notice to communicate that there are conversations, significant conversations happening. Another really creative idea that there was a teacher who shared was, what does it look like for canvassing? What does it look like to go and actually engage folks in the community and letting them know that these things are happening? And another idea was, what if we were to have a study session? And if we invited the reorganization committee to join us on a study session where there can be more fluid conversation to discuss some of the different options and some of the things that are happening as potential options. And so I wanted to make sure that I communicated that. And again, thank everybody that attended. And I

want to continue to invite. Anybody that would like to, to come to these meetings. It's really rich to have all the different perspectives and people that are there, you know, working together and having conversations on how we can strengthen AUSD. The last thing I'll share is that. Board Member Rodriguez-Pena and Mr. Ortega and I had a joint ad hoc meeting with the ad hoc group from city council. And there were a number of things that we discussed. But one significant item that came up from Mayor Gonzalez was a desire to hold a joint. meeting between our full body and their full governing body. And he went so far as to suggest this summer as a potential target kind of time range that we would look to with the understanding that we have to see how

things play out with health guidelines and what is wisest and makes the most sense. But I wanted to make sure to communicate that to the rest of my colleagues that They are wanting to have a conversation and willing and have even offered to host us there at City Hall in the auditorium and have it broadcast on the public channel. And so I wanted to share that out. And I think it'd be a fantastic idea to hold that, to look to holding that this summer. Can I just add one thing to Board Member Greer's, when you mentioned, and I'm also hearing that the community would like to have a community forum regarding the reorganization, also the community. I mean, I don't know how it would be done, but they would like to be included in whatever

is feasible, I guess, in these times, right? Yeah, thank you for bringing that up. Great. Thank you for your comments. And I have a few things that I would like to share. First, I would like to also share my sentiment towards our wonderful, wonderful teachers that we have out there. Just like as my colleague said, all of you deserve Teacher of the Year for being able to just... Do what you needed to do when we shut down. Come back. Do distance learning and then the hybrid now. And, you know, what we ask from you and what our children are benefiting. You guys go way and beyond what we expect from you. So thank you to all the teachers of the year. And to Mr. from Gladstone High School, it was, let's see here. I'm sorry,

Daniel Infante Sanchez. I got to tell you, your principals, they've got that rap. It was really unique. We've never had something like that. So thank you for that. I really enjoyed that. I do want to recognize one of the things that I caught on. It was for Dalton, Miss Renee French Burton. from you know being in the classroom 20 years and then deciding to go back and getting your credential a special ed credential kudos to that it takes a lot to go back and get another credential to do something else and again congratulations to all of the teachers of the year and um we're very very happy uh that you guys are part of our ASUSA Unified School District family I I wanted to update you guys on, I did attend our Parks and Recreation

Commission meeting, and I wanted to just share a quick update that there was a survey that has gone out to the community at Rosedale, and this is the park that will be in Rosedale. And they gathered input from the community at large. And so these are the results from the survey that they received. So nearly about 600 residents responded to the survey. Benches, they would like benches. They would like 75% botanical garden, covered picnic areas, drinking fountains, bottle filling areas, open space. restrooms, walking paths. And, um, So pretty much this is where they're at right now. So the next steps is a summary. So it was a summary of the survey. They're going to reach out to the consultant to connect community needs, design the cost, design and finalize the cost, the planning commission for

further review and consideration. So, and at the end, after all that, there's going to need, they're going to need a council approval and that's when the project will begin. And that's all I have to report from. from this commission, from Parks and Recreation, from the Parks and Recreation Commission. And that's all I have for today. And I actually wanted to say the AALL Foundation, I wanted to thank them for always providing these scholarships to... to our students. I also attended the fundraiser and just to see the community coming together, you know, for our students, it's really a joy to see. So thank you, ALL Foundation for that. Now moving on to our next item on our agenda, we have comments and reports by student board members. We'll start with Destiny Contreras. Good evening. GHS is

very proud of its Teacher of the Year, Mr. Daniel Infante-Sanchez. He's a really good teacher who really tries hard for his students. He goes out of his way to support his fellow teachers at Gladstone as well. GHS would like to recognize the outstanding work of Mr. Albert Sanchez, who has been busy juggling football, baseball, softball, tennis, boys and girls basketball, track and field, boys and girls soccer, and swim in the last two months. GHS sports is his mission statement and our student athletes really appreciate his effort. GHS would like to recognize the outstanding work of our ELA teachers are doing with the diversify our narrative efforts in the district. They are listening to the students and making time to include more voices and experiences in the curriculum. Great job at Gladstone, our great job Gladstone

English teachers. Gladstone ASB is working with GSA to create the Pride Month. Since our June is cut short, our Pride will begin May 17th. We plan on making informational slides on the history of Pride, trans people, biphobia, POC, and the LGBT community, pronouns, discrimination, and violence against LGBT, allies, parenting, and mental health. We plan on having a spear week designed not to out anyone. Thank you. Thank you. We'll move to Jacob Vasquez. Jacob, are you with us today? I do not see him here, but he was here earlier. He might have gotten kicked out. Okay, great. Thanks. We'll move to Alex Arkenberg. Good evening, board members, cabinet, and Superintendent Ortega. Last week, seniors and their parents attended a graduation meeting to learn about guidelines and procedures that will take place in our personal graduation ceremony.

The students and parents are looking forward to the celebration this year. Students have been working hard in classes and attending the TIMMS time for extra support from their teachers. The students in Mr. Lambright's AP government class are preparing for the exam and are feeling more confident. Next week on May 11th, Ms. Sainz and Mr. Stout are hosting coffee with the principal. That concludes my summary. Thank you. Great. Thank you for that. We'll move on to comments and reports by superintendent and cabinet. Good evening, board and community. I would like to use this opportunity to also congratulate all those that were nominated in the actual teacher of the year and also use this opportunity to announce to the community that we are fortunate that we will be able to continue with the market style meal distribution

throughout the entire school year next year. So we will continue through the summer and we will not have to pause. So we will be able to give everyone in our community a healthy meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack. Thank you. Good evening, everyone. I would like to begin also with a big congratulations to all of our teachers of the year and to our district teacher of the year, Mr. Infante Sanchez, to steal from him. We applaud the big hearts of all of our teachers of the year and for everything that they are doing for our students and for our school community. I would also like to take this time to publicly thank Mr. Scott Aiden, a teacher at Center Middle School, for allowing me to partner with him to learn more about him and his

role at Center. Mr. Aiden has allowed me to partner with him in ideating a thematic unit for his STEM class. We met frequently to update on the unit and continue working on the unit. for allowing me to join his classroom to see the actual unit in action and debriefing afterwards. So I'm just super grateful for the time that Mr. Aiden dedicated and allowed me to in this partnership. A big congratulations are in order for Azusa and Glassone High School as Mr. Rodriguez-Pena. pointed out for being named to the U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools list for the fourth year in a row. I just want to thank all of the students, the staff, and the community that poured their time and effort to see results like these. We are still working out the

logistics, and we're going to make sure that we communicate all of the details, but it looks as if next Friday, May 14th, in the Gladstone Gymnasium, we are going to be able to host a vaccination clinic for all of our high school students, 16 years of age or older, and for the adults in their household. We are working as quickly as possible to lock all of those details in. And as soon as we, as soon as those plans are solidified, we'll make sure that we're going to communicate that. using all of our mediums, all of our channels to get the word out that this will be available. Thank you. I have a question on that. Do they need to bring any information since they're under age or, you know, driver's light or their ID? What

is it that they need to bring? Yeah, all of that will be clearly spelled out. They do have to come with an adult. They cannot come by themselves. And all that will be spelled out when we get those details out. Good evening. Congratulations to all of the teachers of the year this evening. I would also like to congratulate one of our students from Magnolia, Emmanuel Samaniego, who is a student in Angie Wright's classroom. And Emmanuel recently wrote an article titled, Help Me Make an Impact, Ending Bullying Can Change Lives for the Better. That article has recently been published in Leadership Magazine. I want to say also congratulations not only to Emmanuel, but I want to say congratulations to his teacher, Angie Wright, as well, for providing her students with the opportunity to write for an

audience. and publish. And this is one of the goals of writing, right, is to write to an authentic audience. And I just want to say how grateful we are for the opportunity that she has provided her students to be able to write and to submit for publication in a professional magazine. Thank you. Good evening, Board of Education members and staff, community members. Again, I want to congratulate all of our teachers of the year. I also want to mention that our Board of Education has before them two resolutions for approval. One is to declare May 8th through the 15th Certificated School Employee Week. It's actually a first time of its kind. Normally, we would have a Certificate Employee Day. I should note that Wednesday, May 12th is California's Day of the Teacher. The National Day of

the Teacher is today, May 4th. So celebrating our Teacher of the Year today is entirely appropriate because it is the National Day of the Teacher. We will continue to recognize our outstanding teachers in the days and weeks to come. The second resolution is to declare May 15th through the 22nd Classified Employee Week. CSEA will host a special event to celebrate classified employees. on Thursday, May 20th. More information to come. And again, I want to recognize and thank our hardworking employees for their work and dedication to the Azusa Unified School District. Thank you. Great. Thank you for that. Move on to agenda item 10.0, general functions. 10.1, approval of resolution number 2021-30, declaring May through... May 8th through the 15th, 2021, Certificated School Employee Week. Can I please get a motion to move 10.1? I make

a motion to approve 10.1. Second. We have a first by Board Member Rodriguez-Pena. We have a second by Board Member Greer. If we could please cast our votes. And it passes 5-0. We move to 10.2, approval of resolution number 2021-31, declaring May 15th through the 22nd, classified school employee of the week. Can I please get a motion to move 10.2? So moved. I have a first by board member Greer. Second. We have a second by board member Cruz-Gonzalez. Can I please, can we cast all our votes? And it passes 5-0. We have agenda item 10.3, school reorganization update. Thank you. We are here once again to provide the Board of Education with an update of our school reorganization process. This is just an update at a future board meeting date. The plan is to come

with recommendations from the teams at the Board of Education. can weigh in with their thoughts, their comments, their recommendations, and of course, ultimately, a decision. At our last meeting, we had several authors, we've been calling them authors who have been coming up with ideas, share their ideas around what a Model 3 and or a Model 4 might look like. And they had the opportunity to make their thinking visible. to the team and share that with the team. They shared those ideas in terms of school selection and school location. After the meeting, because we know that this is the way things work, the team was given an opportunity to revise their thinking. So they came with an idea. They shared that idea with the team. They listened to other people's ideas, got some questions, and so

they had an opportunity to revise their thinking or maybe withdraw their idea or maybe were inspired to create a new idea. Several members took advantage and took that opportunity to do just that. And so some of the authors did indeed revise their thinking. One person did withdraw one of their ideas. And several other team members that were not authors the first time around came up with new ideas. These new ideas, which now make the ones that we'll scroll through today, are now old news. Because that was the first thinking. So these new revised thinkings will be shared tomorrow with the team, and they will once again have an opportunity to address the team and to speak to the team about their ideas, the why behind their thinking. I'm sorry, can I start? Yes, ma'am. Who

are the authors and who's they and who's the group? I'm so sorry. I'm a little confused. No worries. No worries. Could you please clarify? Yes. These are all people from the school reorganization team. So parents, teachers, classified administrators, anyone on the team has the opportunity or had the opportunity to be an author, to create an idea. So tomorrow, they will have another opportunity to share their thinking, share why they might have revised their original idea, or introduce their brand new idea. And then not tomorrow, but at a future meeting, then we will begin to think about and start the process of narrowing that down. narrowing that down to an idea or ideas. So again, like I said, I do apologize here. Oops, let me see. Not apologize, but again, I want to share that what

you are seeing here is the first iteration. So what you're seeing tonight might not even be relevant anymore. because there are new iterations now. People went back, they revised, they changed things. But this is just to give you an idea of what the people on the school, the team members on the school reorganization team are doing. Let me go back to page one. So for instance, here you see a team member, one of the team members. This could be a parent, could be a classified employee, could be a teacher, could be an administrator. this is their idea, right? This is their thinking. And so they had the opportunity to speak to the team and say, hey, for model three, let me see if I can make this just a little bit smaller. So for model

three, this is my proposition, or this is my idea. This is how I would do model three. And then they had an opportunity to explain why did they choose the school that they chose? So can I just ask the question? Yes, ma'am. So does this mean these authors, is this done by? One person or is it by a group of people, you know, parents classified or teachers or this is one person saying this? Good question. That is a mixture. So some people created this on their own. Some people got together with a partner and created. Some people got together as a group and created it. So there wasn't one way of doing it. So it's a mixture. It's a mixture. If we move on to the next slide here, you will notice again, this is

someone else's thinking from the team. Again, they explain to the rest of the team why they chose what they chose, why they made the decisions that they made. Here's another way of looking at model three. Again, this is the thinking from the team. This could be a team member or it could be a partner or it could be a group. And so again, just a different version. I want to once again, just say, express that what you're seeing here might not be what's what's actually where we're at right now, because this was published after the last school reorganization team meeting. So this is only the first iteration, the first ideas. There are new ideas on the table now. And so. It just repeats itself. Again, just all of the ideas that the team came up

with for last Wednesday's meeting. Tomorrow's meeting has a different set of ideas. Some of them are the same, but again, some of them have changed. And tomorrow's purpose is just to, once again, give the authors an opportunity to speak about their idea. This is what I did. This is why I did it. After hearing the team, I changed my mind. And that's why I moved this school here and I did this. So this is where they're going to share what their thoughts are. There is zero decision making happening right now. We are not at that point right now. Right now it's about getting our best thinking out. and have an opportunity to look at it, digest it, think about it, learn from each other, grow from each other. So tomorrow, same thing, there will be

no decisions. There are no decisions being made tomorrow. Tomorrow is about listening to all the revised ideas and the new ideas. And so again, this was just as a sample. So you can see. kind of what the team members have been working on and what they have been presenting to the team. I do want to publicly thank the team that has been doing such an amazing job with such a big task. They are really pushing themselves to be as objective as they can. and really putting their efforts forward to this process. And so we look forward to continuing to update the Board of Education on where we are with this process. Thank you. Do we have any concerns, issues, questions at this time from board members? The only question I have is in regards to

the idea or the notion of creating additional dialogue or feedback from the community, whether it's in a forum format or just what thinking, where is the thinking with that now? I know that in the past, it was suggested that it's being thought about and it's something that we'd like to do, but not exactly sure how. Where are we with that? And what is the feasibility of creating space and a channel for that? I'll answer it backwards. The feasibility is easy. That's not a problem. I guess in my head, it's just a conversation of making sure that, is it like this, right? A forum where we're updating the community, like, hey, this is where we're at. This is what's going on. This is what's on the table. And then allowing some feedback and some input. But

the feasibility, I have jotted it down based on your opening comments and board member Rodriguez-Pena as well. And yeah, we can definitely do that. And I'm kind of liking the idea of like a town hall type of idea to allow some, again, just some update and some voice in, if you will. Yeah, I myself as a board member would like to... see a survey or hear a town meeting from the community. And before I would make a decision, I would like to see it as a whole. The team, they've been doing a great job, but I'd like to hear from the community members and people that live in this community and how do they feel about these models also? Sure. And so what is your timeline? What do you see in vision? How many more

reorganization meetings are you going to have or how long is this going to go on before? Where we are right now, we are thinking that, not tomorrow, tomorrow is about presenting the ideas, and that the following Wednesday we would engage in a data protocol to look at results. We're going to be asking team members, okay, now that you've seen all this, to start ranking where they see these. iterations of these models for them personally, like how would they rank those? And then next week, jumping into a data analysis protocol around how the team feels to start to narrow this down. Our ultimate goal is to get a Model 3 and a Model 4. But if that doesn't happen, again, we're going to be okay with that. And then the team has requested once we get

to that point. then we, our next steps are to say, okay, this is where we are right now. We're still not deciding team. If you like model four or model three, we're not going to talk about that right now, but now we're going to start talking about program. We're going to start talking about staff. We're going to start talking about drawbacks, benefits, or potential drawbacks, potential benefits, and budgetary impact. And I think when you get to that point, I would like to see these models side by side. I mean, I know this. This is a lot of work, a lot of paperwork, but I like to see them side by side. Model three and model four? Model three and four. Sure. It would be helpful for me. Yeah. Do you have any more comments for

our member, President Salas? I said no, and now it's yes. You look like, your face said yes. You said no, but go for it. So in regards to that town hall, again, not holding you to a date, but. about when are we thinking something like that is doable? I mean, again, it's a town hall. I mean, that could happen immediately. Again, in my head, just off the top, the process is where does it make more sense? Right now? Like, hey, this is where we're at right now. or is it after the data meeting once it's been narrowed down a little bit? But in terms of when, I mean, again, it's just a matter of advertising, a matter of doing it, and a matter of putting it out there. So I will commit to going back

to the drawing board tomorrow with the team. and putting something on the calendar and announcing that. Okay. And I might even go so far as to say, you know, maybe, maybe, maybe both in that, what you're something closer to now and something in the future as, as things kind of, kind of whittled down into some options. I know that there are already folks in the community now who. are they are seeing how how much progress has been made and already at this juncture feeling as though they have input to give and or had input to give earlier but but but don't know when or how they they that that would have happened so i think it'd be valuable for there to be something now and i imagine um at least once again in the future

sure absolutely so kind of what you're you're sharing i i actually would We'd like to see it before the programs and budget are, you know, are put in place. So perhaps the town hall meeting could be after tomorrow's meeting before the data, you know, is shared. So that the community can have that input and maybe, you know. and give a little insight into the programs and budgets. So I would like to see it before. And I'll add, when we say community, that extends to, yes, the families that live here, but I know that there are also other teachers who have said, I have some perspectives as well, and other classified employees who've said, I have perspectives as well, outside of the folks who are there representing me, whether it's parents, teachers, or classified representatives there.

So just to be clear, when we're... when saying community, it's the all-inclusive AUSD community. Yeah. Yeah. Great. Thank you for the update. I know that cabinet, the committee, you guys have been working hard. Thank you to all of the committee. And I think all... you know, everyone at home who wants to be part of this town hall and who has expressed that they want to be and share, you know, their thoughts. And so this is a collaborative approach that we're taking and we value your opinion. Next, we'll move on to 11.0 consent calendar, approval of consent calendar from 11.2 to 11.14. Can I please get a motion to move the consent? I'd like to pull an item, item 11.10. Can I please get a motion first and then we'll go ahead and do that? Can

I please get a motion? Yeah, then you're going to pull. Right. Right. So can I please get a motion to approve 11.2, 11.14, but pull out 11.10? I move. that we approve the consent calendar with the exception of 11.10. Okay. Can I get a second? Second. Okay. We have a first by board member Adrian Greer, and we have a second by Rodriguez Pena, and we are removing 11.10. Can I please, can we get ourselves to vote for this? And it passes 5-0. Moving on to 12.0, items pulled from consent calendar 12.1, approval of memorandum of understanding MOU between Azusa Unified School District, AUSD, and Citrus Community College. For us to be able to go ahead and speak on this, can I get a motion to approve 12.1? So moved. We have a first by board

member, Adrian Greer. And second by a board member, Chantelaine Cruz-Gonzalez. And you want to go ahead and have a discussion, board member? Yes. I just have a question. A question regarding the MOU between AUSD and Citrus. On attachment A, my question is on the clericals. They're going to hire three secretaries and five data entry clerks. I'd like to know, are these... employees of Citrus College or AUSD or who is going to be selecting these employees? Thank you for the question. Lika, can you bring Frank Chang into the room? I'll have him address the question. Yes, he is here. Okay, perfect. Thank you. Mr. Chang, did you hear the question? Yes, I heard the question. These are our employees and we select them. And after selection, it is a reimbursement from Citrus College for the employee's

time. Oh, okay, great. Thank you. Thank you very much for that. Does anyone have questions? Since there's no more questions, we can go ahead and... I'm good. Thank you very much. Thank you. We can go ahead and cast our vote. Okay. It's frozen. Did you get a person second? We did. We just... It's frozen, right? We can go ahead and start with Board Member Cruz-Anzales. Board Member Greer? Yes. Board Member Rodriguez-Pena. Board Member Bowe. Yes. And now yes, 5-0. It passes. And we'll go ahead and move to business and finance. We have Board Agenda Item 13.1, Approval of Change Order Number 002, Azusa Unified School District, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, HVAC Upgrades at Gladstone High School. Can I please get a motion to move 13.1? So move. Second. Okay, we have a first by

Board Member Rodriguez-Pena, and we have a second by Board Member Greer. Can we please cast our vote? I'm sorry, do we have any discussion? And it passes 5-0. Moving on to 13.2, approval of notice of completion for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning HVAC upgrades at Gladstone High School. Can I please get a motion to move 13.2? So moved. First by Board Member Greer. Second. Second by board member Rodriguez-Pena. Discussion? Seeing that there's none, let's cast our vote.
