You may be seated. We are now going to move on to item number five. Sheridan students spotlight, celebrating our shining stars by Miss Nancy. Good evening, Madam President Venizia, Superintendent Dr. Howard, and esteemed Board of Trustees, and distinguished guests. We have a packed room this evening. Let's hear it for all our guests. We just heard from two remarkable students, Ana Valeria Salazar from Ruben Hinojosa Elementary, and Nicholas Nishida from Harry Shimatsu Elementary. Their voices reflect the promise, the talent, and the bright future of Sherryland ISD. Both Ana Valeria and Nicholas were selected as student spotlights for their leadership, their character, and the way they represent the very best of Sherryland ISD. Tonight, we are proud to celebrate them publicly and honor their achievements. First, we recognize Ana Valeria from Ruben Hinojosa. Ana Valeria is a

shining example of dedication and school pride. She inspires her peers, and reminds us of the power of a positive attitude and a strong spirit. Roll the tape. The Sherryland ISD student spotlight, where students believe, shine, and inspire. Hi, my name is Ana Valeria Salazar, and I'm a fifth grader at Ruben Hinojosa Elementary. I love staying active, learning new things, and being involved in my school. I enjoy jazz dance, tap, gymnastics, biking, and spending time on the track. Staying active helps me feel focused and motivated. At school, I participate in UIL, including Spanish poetry, Spanish storytelling, ArtSmart, math, and number sense. I like challenging myself and learning new skills. I am also the treasurer for student council, a member of choir and honor choir, and I take piano classes. Academics are important to me. I'm proud

to be an A honor roll, half-referred attendance, and I was an AR top reader last year. Outside of school, I help my dad with his business, buying and renting houses. I help clean houses, and learn how projects are managed. My dad is an accountant. He teaches me about taxes, networking, responsibility, and teamwork. I try to always do my best, help others, and stay committed to my goals. Thank you, Sherri-Land ISD. I'm proud to be a Rattler and to represent the incredible spirit of Hinojosa Elementary, where everyone matters and everyone counts. Next, we honor Nicholas Nashida from Harry Shimatsu Elementary. Nicholas is an outstanding student who demonstrates leadership, kindness, and a commitment to excellence. His example shows us that even at a young age, students can leave a lasting impact on the school and the community.

Roll the tape. The Sherri-Land ISD Student Spotlight, where students believe, shine, and inspire. Hi, my name is Nicholas Nashida, and I'm a student at Harry Shimatsu Elementary. I enjoy learning new things, taking on challenges, and being involved in my school. At school, I participate in UIL number sense and math, and I'm a member of chess club, where I qualify for nationals. I love problem solving and thinking strategically. I was part of the Disney musical cast, and I also serve as a Harry Shimatsu Elementary ambassador, helping guide new families visiting from Japan. I'm fluent in English and Japanese, and I love reading anywhere I can, even in the car. Outside of school, I enjoy playing golf and recently competed in the draft and puck contest. I also travel to Japan each summer, learning about their culture

and sharing with the classmates. I represent my school with pride, kindness, and leadership, and I'm excited to keep learning and growing. Thank you, Sherri-Land ISD. I'm proud to represent Harry Shimatsu Elementary. Excellence every day, that's the Shimatsu way. Believe in excellence in Sherri-Land ISD. At this time, we invite both of our student spotlights, along with their families, their siblings, their teachers, and administrators that are present, to join us on stage to be recognized with our Board of Trustees. So thank you very much for allowing us to do the great work that we do every single day for our district. And that wraps up commendations. Thank you, Nancy. We've gone to item number seven, public comments. No public comments, okay, on to item number eight, our mission statement read by Ms. Megan Sullivan.

Okay, oh good, well that's good. Sherri-Land ISD's mission is to inspire, educate, and empower all students to reach their full potential and become leaders of the highest moral care. And that mission statement is the only one that has been passed on to the school board. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, on to item number nine, public hearing on 24-25 Texas Academic Performance Report. Ms. Jennifer? Good evening, board president Fedesia, Dr. Howard, and the school board. This evening, I will be sharing the district annual report for 2024-2025. A majority of this data has been presented in previous meetings, so I will skim over that, but it is in the presentation, pdf link with all the documentation uh... but i will be sharing with you some of the new information that was presented uh... just so that way

everyone is is aware that this is a requirement of tc chapters thirty nine so this is something that we do have to do annually there are eight sections of our annual report the first section which is the largest it refers to the taper which is the texas academics performance report it goes over all of the student data the demographics and what makes our school district section two is the teams financial uh... standard report data that's from twenty twenty three twenty twenty four financial actual report section three is the district accreditation status and that is for the twenty three twenty four school year section for is the campus performance objectives section five is a report on violent or criminal incidents on campuses section six is student performance and post-secondary institutions section seven is the progress towards

the border gotten how still three goals in infection can't which isn't present here is the glossary particular so if you have as you're going through the report questions on chris it's failed uh... exception one like i mentioned is on the keeper it does object compiled using teams and student assessment data that information that has been previously presented the first thing that i do need to go over is the cover page keenley's in the state committee to retain students from taking to the most editions and they're not ready to go away as soon as they make their move on to a new department you need page for the taper so the cover page for the taper does contain the accountability rating for sherryland isd which is an a for 2024 2025 we you can also see

from our cover page that we did earn the post-secondary distinction and we also have our special education determination status now as you can see our status is needs assistance and what that means in terms of special ed it's based upon the results driven accountability which indicates that the district did meet many compliance requirements but we do have some identified targeted areas for improvement in terms of student outcomes and our performance indicators so we are working with our campuses to ensure that our performance of our special ed students is on par with our regular ed students as well as fixing some of the compliance issues as well so we're working very closely with the campuses on that continuing on we do you will see just a kind of a recap of what was presented at the

end of the 24-25 school year when we did go over our results you can see our performance results for all star subjects at the approaches meets and masters level as well as our participation i did highlight in bold that the district was higher than the state and region for all subjects in terms of those performance levels in addition to the on the taper we also have our annual growth for those of you that are not in education and speak education lingo every single day annual growth is defined as maintaining the same performance level the approaches meets and masters performance or improving for reading language arts and math beginning in grade four through eoc also in the taper report is our accelerated learning and what accelerated learning is is the ability to improve your learning performance

and it's defined as how are we doing in terms of growing our students who weren't successful on the star test the previous year and moving them to at least an approaches grade level performance also on the taper we do have bilingual education information so we can see how our emergent bilingual students did in comparison with our all student population it includes their performance annual growth as well as accelerated learning participation is also part of the report I am happy to say that when we look at our star participation we are nearly at a hundred percent so we do not have an issue with our students taking the star and I believe it's a very good measure in terms of how we're doing academically and allows us to really make the systematic changes that we need

to some new information that y'all have not been presented before it is on attendance graduation and dropout rates those are lagging indicators so a snippet from our taper report in terms of the district attendance for the 23-24 school year it was a ninety four point two percent chronic absenteeism is an area that it increases and chronic absenteeism is reported for students who were enrolled at least ten days and absent ten percent or more of the days and so we're working with our you administrative services and our truancy prevention to make sure that we are communicating with the parents about the importance of school getting them in here and trying to figure out what we can do to support them and then also our dropout rate if you see it's nearly it's at zero percent so

we're doing really good with our students as CCM are is another area that is in the taper report CCM are is college career and military readiness I am super excited to report that we are going to be able to provide a lot of information to our students and so I really am very excited to be able to bring this data to you guys and be able to to hear a little bit more about C.C.M. our rate even though the rules were changed in the middle of the game as a district for twenty four twenty-five we were at a ninety seven point one percent so when it comes to graduating our students in and being ready for that post-secondary life whatever it may be we're doing fantastic so this screenshot shows a little bit of the

different indicators that were measured against four C.C.M. are also thinking about is also in section one of the taper report we do have our student information so for 2024-25 school year we had 9833 students and then also reported as the demographic breakdown of our students as well as the services that the students receive our staff demographics are also there for the 24-25 school year we had 1361 staff members and you can see the breakdown of our staff as well section two is the peems financial standard reporting the actual reports 2023-2024 is the most recent year which this data is reported and jaime did go over this at a previous board meeting this slide here just i kind of took a snippet from the financial report just so you could see how did sherryland isd compare

to the state and when you look at that this is the math and the math is this is the math for everything that we have there so section four is the district accreditation status and if you recall last year we did not have a an accreditation status due to pending litigation so the accreditation status that is being reported now is for the 23-24 school year since the litigation has since been resolved accreditation status for the 24-25 school year will be reported later this spring for both the campus and the district. As you recall, last year when we went through the strategic plan process, we did refine our goals for the district improvement plan. We did go down from eight goals to four. Goal one is student excellence and achievement. Goal two, employee experience. Goal three,

community connections. And goal four, fiscal responsibility. And so as a reminder, some of the areas that we did focus on last year was student performance, competitive compensation, beginning developing the instructional framework for Sherryland ISD, and then enhancing school safety as well. Section five is a report on violent or criminal incidents. The codes that are reported are major, mandatory, expelable offenses. So that does not include all disciplinary codes such as your standard, let's say ISS, those type of reportings. I am happy to say that none of our campuses had any of the mandatory expelable offenses. Also as part of this section, we are required to report on violence prevention and violence intervention policies and procedures. So our administrative services department, they have been working really, really closely with the campuses to make sure that we do

have policies in place such as the behavior threat assessment, social emotional learning, bullying treatment. When we have our intruder detection audits, we make sure that we take that information back. We make the necessary corrections that are required for us to be made, and so we always come together to make sure that we're meeting the safety standards as set forth by the state. Section six is student performance in post secondary institutions. This is reported for the class of 2023. This information comes from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. I do want to point out that this information does not encompass all of our 2023 graduates, because they only report information that they are able to receive. So if a student goes out of state, or if they attend a private university or an independent college, or

if they decide to enroll in a certificate program, then we don't have information on those students. So take a look at the GPA beginning with their fall semester once they first enroll. And here is our information. So when we take a look at the percentage of students who have a 2.5 GPA or higher, for SA3, it was a 74% from the class of 2023, those that enrolled in a college. 79% for Sherryland High School and 77% from Pioneer. And so I do want to say that is an increase from the class of 2022. So we are preparing our students to be successful in college. One of the questions that we always get is where do our students go to college? For all three campuses, UTRGB is the number one in terms of the number of

students that attend those universities. We have South Texas University. We have North Texas University. We have South Texas University. We have South Texas University. We have South Texas University. We have South Texas College. Plus we have other four-year public institutions. They just kind of add them all together. So the information for SA3, SHS, and PHS is listed as well. So you can see where do our students go. Section 7 is the progress of the district in each campus towards meeting the adopted House Bill 3 goals. And this is for the third grade literacy and math as well as our CCMR goals. So our first, our early childhood literacy as a district for our third grade meets grade level performance, and this is based upon the STAR assessment. As a district for literacy, we did achieve

a 61% meets grade level performance. And then you can see how each campus did after that. We do want to make sure that our third graders are set and prepared. And ready to progress to the future grade levels. For math, it's not quite as high. Math is one of those subjects that still hasn't quite rebounded from COVID. As a district for our meets grade level performance for our third grade students, it was a 52%. And so we are working really closely with our campuses to ensure that our students are ready and successful in math. And then, finally for CCMR, we are at a 97%, 97%. And then our last is the taper glossary. You do have a copy of the glossary in the PDF. This presentation as well as the supporting documentation is listed on

our Sherryland ISD website. And if there are any questions, whether it be from y'all or from the public, I would be the person that you would reach out to. And if anybody needs an actual physical copy, we can get that for you as well. So are there any questions on the annual report? I have one question. The data, the charts that you have that show, where we fall, where the region falls and the state. I love that because, we're beating them in almost every area. Can we get, can we add a column to show on this, on the, I know this is a Texas report, but these are data points that are gathered nationally, most of them. Can we get that as well to see where we fall nationally on some of these? I can

definitely try to get that for you. Okay. Thank you. You guys have any more questions? Thank you. Great job. Yeah, thank you so much. Thank you. Appreciate all the information. I know it's a lot. Thank you. Okay. We're going to move on to item number 10, board reports. Do we have any board reports? Board reports, anybody? Megan, do you have anything to report? Not right now. Okay.
