I'd like to call this regular meeting of the Musl City School Board to order. Uh Smith, would you like to call roll for us? >> Oh, for the Let the Let the show I'm I'm not the regular president. >> It's not my I'm filling in for Mr. King and to nobody's surprise, I've made the first mistake. So, we need to do the pledge of allegiance first. Okay. and then we'll call the roll. >> All right. >> To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Now, Miss Smith, would you please call the RO? >> Here. here. >> All right. So, board, we do have a quorum. Um, now we need to approve tonight's
agenda. So, do I have a motion to approve the agenda as presented? >> I'll make a motion. >> Thank you, Dr. Stoddard. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> We have a second. Um, any discussion? >> There's none. So, we'll call for a vote. All in favor say I. I. I. Any opposed? There's none. So the uh Dr. Holden, the agenda has been approved. >> Thank you, Mr. Wood. I have no correspondence tonight, so we'll move to item E, which is approval of the minutes from the January 29, 2026 regular meeting. You have those minutes in your packet, and I recommend approval. >> Thank you, Dr. Holden. We have a recommendation to approve the meeting minutes from our last meeting. Um, I would need to have a motion for that. Thank you, Dr. Davis.
Um, do I have a second? >> Second. >> Miss Alman second. So, have a motion and a second. Any discussion? There's no discussion. So, let's take a vote. All in favor say I. >> I. Any opposed? None. So, we have approved the meeting minutes from the last meeting. All right. Moving into our business action items. First, the consent agenda. And for the consent agenda, the board has been furnished with background material on each item or has discussed the item at a previous meeting. Consent agenda items are acted upon with one vote without discussion. But if a board member wishes to discuss any item, we can pull it from the consent agenda and vote on it separately. For tonight's consent agenda, we have the January financial report as well as the check register and those statements
have been reconciled. We have two out ofstate field trips for approval. One is for this March, the high school show choir attending Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. And then a trip for next year during the 26 27 year. Also in March, the high school band attending the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade in Chicago, Illinois. Uh, and then we also have the recommendation from Kelly Marorrow, our community ed director, to increase the summer camp registration fee and the weekly fees of the community education program that would be effective for this summer obviously. So, uh, does any board member wish to pull any of those items and vote on it separately? Hearing none, Mr. President, I recommend the consent agenda as presented. >> Thank you, Dr. We. We have a recommendation to approve the consent agenda.
Do I have a motion? >> So move. Thank you, Miss Alman. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Thank you, Dr. Stoddard. We have a motion and a second. Any discussion? >> None. So, let's call for a vote. All in favor say I. >> I. Any opposed? There's none. So, we have approved your consent agenda. >> All right. Next is the personnel report and you have that in your packet and I recommend the personnel report as presented. >> So, we have a recommendation to approve the personnel report. Do I have a motion? >> I make a motion. >> Thank you, Dr. Stoddard. So, we have a motion. Do we have a second? >> Thank you, Dr. Davis. Um, any discussion? No discussion. So, let's take a quick vote. All in favor? >> I. Any
opposed? There's none. So, we have approved your personnel report. >> All right. For the benefit of the audience, the personnel report tonight consists of the following. Under employment, Heather Quillin, CNP staff at McBride in the middle school. Also under other part-time supplemental contract or special assignment, we have uh five afterchool tutors for muscle shows middle school be paid for through the ASAP grant. Also, Emma Norman added to our extended day program college aid substitute list. Uh and McKenzie Wreck providing homebound services for a student at Highland Park. And then just a couple of uh for information only, not for board action items under Kelly staffing. uh you see some substitutes are going to be filling in uh and and some various leaves that are being recommended tonight. And with that, that's all I have for
the personnel report. And then just a very brief uh superintendence report. Um we like we said during the work session, we it is career tech month. Lots of things going on and we like appreciate the work that Mr. Rinks and his staff as well as these students have done to highlight career technical education not only here tonight but throughout the month. I've been seeing those social media posts and all the emails and pictures of some of our graduates. Seeing some of the work that they're doing. They, you know, got their education from us here at Muscle Shows, went through a lot of our career tech programs, and now they're working in the quote unquote real world and making a difference. So, we we appreciate that. Also, it's school resource officer month. One of our SRO's
is with us tonight, but our principles shared a little bit of love with them uh at each school. We're so glad that we have an SRO at each campus now. Something this city has worked with us on and hard toward and and so we're so grateful for their service and their protection each and every day. Uh this month was also Black History Month and so we had Black History programs across the district. You may have been able to attend some of those. I was able to see some of them, not all of them, but I did see uh the social media posts and the things that were recognized uh as far as the contributions that AfricanAmericans have made to our nation's history and culture. Um our winter sports have have concluded. Basketball uh boys played
at Wallace State came up a little bit short. You know, it's kind of a heartbreaker. They played hard that game, but we are now in full swing of spring sports swing. No pun intended, I guess, right? U but I know some of our folks had to step out because they have you know their schools are playing or their own children are playing. So we we wish them well. It will be a busy busy spring with all the different activities going on. Uh I did want to mention I think Dr. Davis may have stepped out but you may have seen the social media posts about the flag football and the girls soccer program. We did an interest survey on those and uh the the response was pretty overwhelming. And so I do appreciate the work they're
doing to expand some opportunities for our female athletes with those sports because those are really growing and catching on and especially the flag football which is relatively new. Um do want to congratulate Mr. Wilder and and that group that did Frozen Jr. If you saw that, it was a treat. They did outstanding performances this past weekend and that program just continues to grow and serves as the pipeline to our high school show choir and choir programs and drama theater programs and so uh look forward to great things from them to continue. I also want to recognize Shayla Hill. Um she is one of the pair professionals at the middle school. We may be able to get her to come to our next uh board meeting when we recognize support staff because she received a statewide
award um earlier this week. she went down with Dr. Templeton uh and was the it was named the Alocase Parap Professional of the Year for the state of Alabama. So, we're we're proud of her and the recognition that she brought to Muscle Show City Schools. But, uh but anyway, spring is here, graduation's around the corner. Uh it'll be here before we know it. Uh spring season, testing season, IEP season, all the things that we do this time of year, just a full slate of events. But uh it's been a good year and we appreciate the support that you guys provide us, the work that the students and teachers and these administrators do and uh just thank you for the opportunity to recognize students at at a board meeting. I think that's always good. Don't forget
to the next AASB conference is coming up around the corner next weekend. I think it'll be in Auburn this year. Um so I look forward to seeing you there if you make plans to go. And with that, Mr. President, that's all I have. >> All right. Thank you, Dr. Ow. I would say um to our CTE students um we love Dr. Holden, we love our principles, we love hearing from them every month, but it you know it is nice to get to hear from y'all directly um because um we don't often hear directly from students and and so thank you for coming tonight. Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your time to talk to us, share about, you know, what you're doing. It really is important and we love to hear it.
Um, and then also thank you for sticking around for the meeting when when we gave you an easy out. So >> they're still waiting on that picture. I think though maybe >> Well, take the easy win when I give. Y'all would have stayed anyway, right? >> That's right. >> There you go. >> All right. >> Hey, when when he he adjourns, if y'all want to come up here, we'll stand up and maybe take a picture in front of this desk and see how that looks and then we may take one over there in front of the the backdrop, too. Okay. >> All right. >> Having said all that, board, is there any other business that we need to address tonight? Okay. So, we have included our agenda. So this meeting is officially adjourned.
