The Limestone County Board of Education board meeting is called to order. Notices for the meeting were properly posted and provided to those who requested direct notification. Let the record reflect that all board members are present except for Miss Fqua. We will have our prayer by Mr. Young followed by our pledge by Dr. Magnus. >> Heavenly Father, we come to you tonight thanking you first and foremost for your son that came and died for our sins and to save our souls for for eternity. We pray that you'll be with this board and with our staff as we conduct the business of the school. Pray that through the summer as we prepare for our upcoming school year. Amen. ledge to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One

nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We have an agenda before us. Do I have a motion to accept the agenda? I'll offer second. >> Have a offer and a second. Any discussion? All in favor? Unanimous? >> Dr. Sharass. >> All right. Thank you, Madam Chair. Um, one of my favorite things to do, of course, recognize students and their achievements. And of course, to top that off. I love that too. Tonight, you know, I was um I was Oh, sorry. I was Can you hear me now? I was talking to um Ron earlier about it and um you know I I grew up of course watching um Bill Dance on TV and Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston and all those guys, you know, and I think about um I wasn't sure today.

I I actually looked it up because I wasn't sure if if like Bill Dance was still alive, but he is. And um so he's 85 years old and Roland Martin's 85, Jimmy Houston's 81. So um fishing is good for you. I'll just I I thought of that. So you guys were involved in something that can be a lifelong sport, of course, and something that um will help heal your soul when you're out there on the water um hopefully catching lots of catching lots of bass. The East Limestone fishing team has had an amazing season. the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association. At the start of the season, the team's goal was to win team of the year. They achieved that and more. The team had wins at Gunnersville and Wheeler in second place at Smith

Lake and Logan Martin. At the state tournament on May 9th, they won the state ASABFA championship team of the year. The championship is a combination of four regular season tournaments plus the state tournament. The team won two regular season tournaments and placed second in two tournaments. The four tournament points are combined with the state tournament to win. There were 28 boats competing in the state championship. That's a lot of boats on the lake for sure. Tonight we would like to recognize the team members and boat captain for this outstanding achievement. and we call your name if you'll just come up and and stay up here please and we'll get your picture. Uh first we have Presley Carter Carter Hollis. And then we have boat captain Chris Carter. And then Shane Hollis is also boat captain,

but we'll give this to y'all so y'all can take that. And the next team we have Kaden Abernathy, Mason Martin, And then Michael Martin. >> Anyone have any good fish stories? I saw a quote today aren't catching fish today. I thought that was pretty good. >> Congratulations, guys. >> Thank you for what you do. >> Yes. Congratulations y'all. >> I didn't recognize you the hat on. >> He ran away. >> One more thing I do have. Um, I just want to mention that of course Skills USA was held in Atlanta and CTC students competed last week and we had Carson Townsen who we had recognized earlier um, won gold action skills competition and Freddy Cortez won silver in barbering and Erica Alvarado competed in architectural drafting. I thought this was interesting. Mr. Bennett had Freddy

actually um shave his head like with a straight razor just for him to practice. So I thought that was a good exercise. >> That's great. >> That's very Mr. Bennett to do at school. So yeah. Yeah. >> But congratulations to our skills USA. >> Absolutely. >> All right, Miss Hubard financial update. almost 27 million. It's kind of flattened out as I told y'all before January all the came in and now it's sales tax money market interest and we hit the floor last month that I call it and we've moved over 1.5 million in the payable account that we will share in the end of the year like if you look at our expenses they're 91 million and that's% If you look at a one month fund balance, it's 13.1 million. We have 51.1 million. So

that's 3.89 months. We did increase from March about 488,000. So we're up someartion. We got 200 almost 235,000 in the month of April. You can see it's a little lower and that's because that money is getting moved over that one is getting moved over into the payable account until we get to the end of the year. And if you look at our monthly fund balance chart, you can see we're trending right at where we were last year. And you see that more money. Y'all have any questions? What happens is up until a little over 9 million we share that with the floor and it's right around the floor all the money over the floor has to go sit in a payable account we get to And then we share that city's not in there. >>

Okay. >> Anything else? >> All right. We have a consent agenda. Can I have a motion to accept the consent agenda? Mr. Hillyard offers. I have a second. >> I'll second. >> Dr. Maple seconds. Any discussion? >> None. All in favor. Passes unanimously. Uh item number seven, discussion, approval of personnel actions. Do I have a motion? >> Mr. Young offers. Do I have a second? Yeah, >> Mr. Chris second. Thank you. Any discussion? Hearing none. All in favor? It passes unanimously. Number eight. Item eight, discussion approval of price change for breakfast for employees and visitors to $3.25 25 cents to comply with federal regulations effective school year 2026 2027. Do I have a motion? >> Motion. >> Dr. Maples offers the motion. Do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Mr. Young seconds. Any

discussion? >> Yeah. If if we have to do this to comply with federal regulations, why do we need to vote? Federal regulation says it has to be $325. Why do we vote? I just think we have to set the local price and you know prove that as a board >> just a formality thing you know >> you could have people you of course charge >> I was going to say probably some do charge above that too right >> probably some systems that charge more But to stay in compliance, >> okay, >> we have to do 325. >> Although you don't you hear people will hear complaints because we raised it to three, you know, >> can't buy a lot for 325. >> That's not That's right. Absolutely. Um you can't buy a dozen of my

farm fresh raised eggs. >> Okay. Hold on. Let her do eggs. >> There you go. All right. So, all in favor? >> All opposed. >> All right. And item nine, discussion, approval of fiscal year 2026 budgement budget amendment one. Do I have a motion? >> Okay. Do I have a second? I'll second it. >> Any discussion? >> Yes, please. >> It's our one and done budget amendment. It's due to the state on June 15th. So, some of the things I'm going to talk about and not talk about is because like our advancement of technology fund, yes, we know what our allocation is. No, the state has not approved our application yet. So, LA County does not want me to put it in the budget amendment because the state hasn't approved the application yet. So, and

they just opened the application up. So, um if you look, one of the adjustments I've had to make is the beginning fund balance on October one. I have to change that every year as required by the state, the ending balance of September 30th, 2025. When we do our original budget amendment, the year is not closed. We do not know after state edits and all the what are going to be later on our general fund changes. What we add to that is any state revenue that's came in from the state since we did the original budget. We've got money for our Alabama reading initiative, numeracy act, math intervention, intervention, the state funments. Now those are in school safety grants. We've got a school safety grant since we did the original budget. So thatvenue in our special

revenue column that includes federal money local sit and the changes to the local schools it's around 534,00 And you see that over expenses uh in the debt service fund there wasn't really a change in there other than our gap we get what's called gap period revenue they give us $65,99200 and what that goes for is to pay the gap premium that the state tells us how much they are they give us the revenue they turn around and take back so I had to move that over to the column based on how they tell me to allocate it. Um the other changes what I have included is we budgeted in capital projects what we had we were going to expend from the technology money which was a little over $13 million and since then we have

had the arore I call it the old gym because I'm from there and um the turf on the football field. So, I had to make the total capital project budget equal to $18.9 million. That includes what we've got going on at Johnson and Blue Springs the football field. >> Why did we go backwards $5 million in the beginning? I I understand it hadn't been through the state when we voted on it originally, but what changed? >> Well, when you start the budget at the beginning of the year, it's just a guess of what the ending balance is what I based it on. And then when we get to the end of the fiscal year and I close it out, there can be more revenue than I thought there was the end of August. Extra money

can come in, some expenses can go out and that's why you're going to see that number change. It's going to change like that. If you remember, We had a lot of we had a lot of revenue. We moved 12 million over a lot of revenue. >> Would that be represented here or would that be represented at the beginning of the next year? Well, our budget is, you know, we basically grew $800,000 to the good with the pluses and minuses that you did from the revenue and expenditure drive. We were going to be 1.05 to the good for the year and now we're going to be 1.8 to the good for the year. But our ending fund balance dropped, you know, $3.5 million. Any more questions? Any more discussion? All in favor? It's unanimous. Okay. Agenda

item 10, adjournment. Do I have a motion? >> I think we do have is that Vonda Miss Johnson um assistant principal um at Sher Creek here with us tonight. So um congratulations for being approved tonight. >> Nice to meet you. Thank you for being here. All right. And now that adjournment, I have my motion. Where's my second? All in favor? >> All right. Good night, y'all.
