on October 24th at Clements High School in Blue Springs and just want to give you a sample of the the invitations we'll be sending out so that hopefully we can have great participation there and we'll do angelize invitations got you one individualized invitations for each um school where we're hosting those meetings with the feeder schools involved as well so that will be coming up like I said you've got a copy and we'll make sure you have all the dates we would encourage you to come to everyone if you can if you can only come to a couple come to a couple but it will be open to the public and we will be getting input about our school system about improving student achievement about planning for you know the next five years next 10 years

you know where do we want to go as a school system and so at our Board of Retreats we talked about this Dr Costanza I've been in contact with him he has these days down and he'll be visiting our schools I'm also involves employee surveys that will be online that employees can complete Community questions that he'll have at those individual meetings at each school and then of course there will be a committee and that we do encourage two or three board members to be part of that committee as well so if some of you are really interested in being a part of that strategic planning process I encourage you to volunteer or the ones that really want to be part of that um but we will have on that committee you'll have parents as part

of that committee teachers principals central office students Community leaders classified employees so you'll have a wide range usually 30 to 40 people will be on that committee and they'll help develop our strategic plan for Limestone and so that's the process we're looking at moving through and like I said hopefully we can get a strategic plan in place by you know end of January 1st of February we can have our plan completed by that time how are we getting this information out we're doing all sorts of manner of course by social media trying to send home individualized information to parents from each school um they you know normally when you send out a district-wide thing if it comes from each school it's much better so we're doing every form of media we can think of as

far as sitting on not really sending paper we do have a reminder that we can send to parents not really doing paper it doesn't usually make it home unless you do an elementary level and put in their take home folder but um but anyway every bit of information we can get out I know Ashley you've been working on the the district website but also the each individual School website Facebook you know it will be everywhere we can get it out starting at seven o'clock how late do you think these meetings are it really depends on Chris knows 10. it really depends on the crowd and the input that they get I'm sure probably in hours what he shoots for um but you know they could be longer based on the crowd and based on the

input any questions I'll stay up later in 7 15. when I have to have to or you have to right also just a couple more things real quick if I could um on Sunday October 2nd was National custodial custodian appreciation day I do want to say thank you for our custodians and what they do for our school system 42 custodians are an important part of our service we can't thank them enough for the wonderful job they do maintaining a clean and healthy environment for our students faculty and staff and we know they are vital employees we found that out of course with covid and we know that finding custodians is not an easy thing to do either so we certainly appreciate the job they do each and every day for our for our students also

like to recognize some School Board member Academy achievements we have Dr Belinda Maples has completed levels two and three and so she gets a certificate for that right right and then Mr Hilliard actually has Master fifth year and we don't have a certificate but congratulations your name goes on a plaque I think right Sharon after coming back that's correct that's correct yeah so congratulations fifth year so and that's all I have Mr chairman thank you all right if you get those extra ribbons on your name tags that's gonna be nice uh children's internet protection act Miss Smith districts technology measures that we have in place in series background on any rate funding the e-rate program provides discounts for telecommunications internet access and internal connections to eligible schools and libraries with by the universe rated company

from the livestock County School District website at LCS one K-12 online activity through device and account filtering policies with automated report ing traders in order to ensure thank you good job Miss Kelly 24 um Chris Brandon for 200 um for three years with the with the possibility of to renew for two years so I think that was a total for the three years 1.8 million dollars um so it's a great opportunity um for our for our for those three schools it's definitely a partnership um you know we talk with the parents get the students involved coming coming to the program we talk with the teachers so we can get the inputs kind of realize where um the deficits are for our students so they can work on some of those um areas with math and

reading and then we also have um you know we work with CMP to get get our students fed um supper during the summer supper during the after school program and then breakfast and lunch during the summer um and then of course we could not go without our bus drivers and things you know picking up our kids and taking them home during the summer and then taking them home in the afternoons um during the regular after school program all three of our schools were able to have a community um partner and most of the area that that's going to focus on would be more with um with first priority um just focusing on some other areas and some life skills um in in those areas some of our goals and objectives we do focus on the

academic side but we also want to work on attendance and and we know that attendance is an area that we really have to focus on for all of our students and I know that these programs are just for those three Elementary programs but that that's definitely an area we need to need to work on um we do focus on physical activity and nutrition and we also do different things with service learning projects some of our projects for those three schools I know this is a bigger farming area so a lot of things with gardening and then giving back to the community finding some different needs one of our partners they're going to be working with the with the school and with the families on like budget friendly meals things things that could just help out

in the in the household these these grants will be starting from October 1 of 22 and then they will go through September the 30th of 25 and then with the possibility to to renew we will have some professional development that our staff will be needing to attend um these grants are through our title IV Part B Grant we will need to hire 21st century staff and I know those three schools already have five-day programs so we will have to to repost those positions for actual 21st century positions um we definitely want to focus on the needs of the students and and making sure that we're covering all their needs but we're not really wanting it to look like the regular school day so we're hoping that we're going to have some other activities I know

when we've had it before we've been able to pull in ballet some of the other um 21st century programs around the state they've offered archery not had a principle that had had really wanted to try that one just yet but karate and just some other things that we can pull in for our students in Limestone County so I did bring the um the actual Grant application so if you'd like to see those I do have a copy of that and then if you have any questions um I'll try to to answer those questions and then just a one page or just some information about the actual grants thank you you know to me this is a great opportunity you know for those schools because two hundred thousand dollars we shouldn't be able to make a

huge difference with our students and so thank you for applying and doing all the paperwork I think it will make a great difference with our kids so thank you ready for you ready all right okay we're looking at August um so this is the month before the end and we as you know we hit the end on Friday so um bills paid got lots of things coming in Friday but we did there are some things that did not make it in that we had that were ordered like the buses we ordered in October last year have still not came in we ordered uh the 500 000 worth of furniture for our schools that had asked for it it didn't make it here and then we had those two trucks we ordered back last year that

have not made it in so when we get to the physical end of the fiscal year if it's not here then I've got to close the PO and I've got to reopen a PO in 22 so when it gets here we'll pay for it it's a budgeted item so I had told Ron before I talk about this when we get to the end of the year and we start looking at how much money we're going to going to move over we're going to have to hold back that money for those 22 POS that that has not came in how much were the buses I think they were like 1.1 or 1.2 I know um they're looking at the ones my two we're gonna tell back to me about two million okay would be a surplus

right a four point one no we didn't spend it it's just a surplus going forward but we'll have to but we've just gotta hope because if we just didn't spend the money right we didn't get to spend it um it's time to order you know so I don't know if they'll come in we'll have you know two sets of 11 buses by the end of this fiscal next fiscal year or not we just don't know how that's going to go so anyway let's look at August um if you look at our local Revenue we've got 22.89 million sitting there which is almost 23 million that's 99 of what we had budgeted if you look over in the capital projects fund I've already moved 5.5 million of the ships that the board committed to save for

this year and in addition to that our ETF funds came in in August um for 22 and I've gone ahead we we had committed to put a little over a million into the capital projects fund out of that and I've already moved that money over in the capital projects fund as well so it's there um if you look at our expenses they were 89.4 million that's 88 and we're 11 12 of the way we're at 92 percent and if you go down and you look at our fund balance we're sitting at 32.4 one month is 8.7 so we're at 3.7 million right now the end of August now we will have lots of we have lots of invoices come in in September and lots of things paid and we're working on Emerson's working on getting

all the local schools and reconciled and we're trying to get everything closed out so we can get September buttoned up and get it done so we've still got a lot of work to do but we're girls are working hard so as I as me as well that have to take care of them see if you look at the last page you can see you've got to look at the yellow line because my lines start they kind of running together because last year we moved the money the blue line is last year where we made the money and it looks like the fund balance took it yet but it's because we made money to capital projects we actually went up you can see the line went up more than it did so the fund balance was

came up in August so that's all I have substantial growth substantial growth yes there it is somebody may know which one of those categories of growth that is [Laughter] we could figure it out mathematically give me a formula formula and our fractions any questions thank you Miss hope you're welcome we have a consent agenda before us I'll hear a motion the shoulders offers a motion do I hear a second displays offers a second any discussion I need to abstain from A1 A1 okay any other discussion I think I need to I think yeah we didn't have many at that last meeting no yeah we had the dedicated ones three yeah yeah that's the way I felt it was a three beans there we go any other discussion hearing none all those in favor passes unanimously

item seven discussion approval Personnel action items go here motion hello Mr Young offers a motion do I hear a second it's like doesn't deal officer second any discussion hearing none all those in favor passes unanimously item eight policy 6.29 opt-in for mental health services for State compliance and for clarity based on suggestions from the Alabama Association of school boards to our hearing motion law promotion the shoulders offers a motion do I hear a second Mr Hilliard officers second any discussion I do I have a question so we didn't write this obviously right all right and then it's different than it was because they marked out a section right so we've tabled it came back with what their suggestions were right all based on there so I want to read one sentence or a part of

the sentence for a student under the age of 14 participate in Mental Health Services written permission by the students parent or legal guardian is required annually what happens for a student that's old for 14. they don't have to have that so they can do anything that's in this listed in here without their parents knowledge I um understanding is they still have to have the you know the opt-in basically to to receive that extensive counseling okay I'm saying for a student under the age of 14 to participate in Mental Health Services written permission by the student's parent a legal guardian if required annually I took that to mean that the kid participating in the understood that to be yeah my understanding and y'all can help me if but I you know regardless of the age of

the child my thoughts were if you had that in-depth type counseling the parents had to give you permission okay but the annual part are those from the 14 where they have to sign off every year well it says it's exclusive to a whole bunch of other stuff that whatever set of rules goes with that other stuff that stuff stays in place right but so just on this opt-in if you're over the 14 you do it on your own my understanding is if if you're over 14 you still have to like if you get that extensive type counseling in-depth type counseling you would have still have to get your parents to sign in on that it's my understanding I'll correct that but that's the way I understood that to read and this is what aasb it

is it says right that's right thank you okay okay and just out of Curiosities anybody know what Aaron's law and Jason's Jason flat act are that's about some of the bullying um as part of the bullying code you know and suicide it'll come up yeah okay is there supposed to be a website where we can document or send bullying to to somebody I think that's Aaron's law there's a form that you have to fill out yes where's the form it's on a website the parents called us requested the principals have access to it I just think it should be easily accessed like on their web page yeah yeah I mean most of the time but it does have to meet the definition of bullying I know but you're reporting it's your opinion it's your perspective

um uh putting it in there and just you identify it first I think you you know like at one time someone teasing someone yeah yeah it was not considered yes I just want to make it easy accessible those bullies are usually withdrawn and don't interact very well let's just ask for help okay any discussion hearing none all those in favor passes unanimously item nine discussion approval of the 2023 graduation schedule do I hear a motion Mr Young offers a motion though here a second second which collaged off the second is there any discussion hearing now and all those in favor passes unanimously item 10 physical year 2022 budget amendment do I hear a motion Miss shoulder's office of motion door here a second Mr McGill offers a second any discussion let me talk about it

I would love it okay so all this budget amendment is real is really doing as we get to this point and we have to go back and add in all the additional State money we got during the year so if you look at my reconciliation I went in there the additional money we've received during the year I've added that into like if you look at the general fund and if you look at the special Revenue fund that that's our federal money and special Revenue um and the other thing I have to do is I have to go back and adjust the beginning balance of the budget it has to equal what our financial statements that were approved by the state department equaled at the end of fy21 so if you see a just beginning balance

to equal 21 financial statements and the general fund it went down 5.4 million dollars and that's because we moved that large amount over to the capital projects fund okay so that's why the general fund went down the other lines if you budget the money coming in you've got to budget the money going out that's all that line is I did add that 1.1 million dollars from the ETF money it's 2.5 but the general fund it's a million to the capital projects fund and if you look down there a few more lines I had to add the carryover money in there to the um for our federal and then the other changes that are made are just when the money's spent throughout the year maybe it got in the federal money it got budgeted to materials

and supplies and maybe they needed computers so you just have to make sure that all the line items line up and they're not over more than 10 percent so when your financial statements are approved they'll go through so are we less than 3.7 months now this in because I'm not gonna vote for it we're going we're going we'll have it adjusted when we look at September we'll have the exact number and I can get that it won't it can't go into these financial statements until the budget amendment's approach but we're not going to be at 3.71 we probably won't be at three we're going to keep two million out we're going to hide 5 million or not hide it but take it out we're losing it whatever whatever whatever words I want to use but

we're going to be down to 29 million instead of 30 million and am I just lost my money moved to the capital fund this was my favorite meeting to that last night we still there's lots of money that I go back and allocate and sales since we met that floor for that so we get to divide that up and then add it back we get to divide that up and add it back in so it just got to say I think yeah it'll be it'll be okay yeah but we're still at 8.73. where anyway I'm not moving near as much but that's all right okay any other discussion we lost five million when we redid last year which is tough today but that's because we put in capital funds yeah we didn't lose that we

moved it over yeah [Laughter] let's get that on record there you go y'all playing because we hadn't had them for three or four years okay any other discussion hearing none all those in favor passes unanimously uh item 11. nominations for an election of delegates for the December 2022 aasb conference three delegates and one alternate I volunteer to be alternate I'd like to nominate myself to be the alternate I was going to be an alternate as well like like terrible group of people um who's going I'm going to one two three four so guess what I guess we're here who's the alternate is sorry can I nominate the new Clements representative to be a I think that I mean she's not here her Fender herself I can just nominate her right perfect as a delegate yeah

well they do have to be there more than you know [Music] so as uncomfortable as I am you weren't you hadn't been recognized chairs let's make a motion that the three of us are the vote and he's the alternate that's what we're going to do and let the we'll sign Anthony some more yeah Anthony's got to get something terrible like clean up out in the yard or something yeah yeah okay I love promotion that uh Earl Mr glaze Mr Chris Dr Maples be our delegates and Miss Young be our alternate or I'm just my shoulders make some motion do I hear a second Mr McGill seconds all those in favor oh those are posted six to one item 12 discussion approval uh I put that piece of paper up I need those two names back

I'm sorry okay uh the Banning of two individuals for one calendar year namely Brittany Williams from Clements and Micah Ellis from Tanner this will be man just from those two schools they're all Limestone all Limestone County campuses so I hear a motion I'll second Mr Heater made a motion Mr glaze second in discussion this is what happens when you act a fool it the events any other discussion hearing none all those in favor motion passes item 13 adjournment did I say one quick thing West Limestone you know they're of course having parent-teacher conferences on Thursday but they also are almost finished with that facility and so they're kind of having a little open house too um that night as well because of getting really close to being finished so thank you Steve for what you've

done there and we do have Mr McGill Mr shoulders they have one more official meeting in November that's November 1st I believe so the official meeting and then we have maybe a call meeting but you have one more official meetings November 1st you have one more official board meeting to attend item 13 adjournment do I hear a motion Mr glaze makes a motion do I hear a second Dr Maples made a second any discussion hearing none all those in favor passes unanimously thank you
