Good morning. >> Mhm. >> Welcome to special called meeting Board of Education this time. I ask Kim to lead us over leaders in prayer and the pledge. Mr. Shazo. >> Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you for summer. Thank you for the break that we all need and enjoy. And I just pray that you will be with each student, teacher, and administrator this summer while they will have to enjoy it and to to recharge and to learn new things and to just um to get ready to come back to us in the fall. Let's pray for our country and pray for our our city leaders as they make decisions for us. And um this is the administration that you just thanked. >> All right. Amen. >> Attention. Salute. >> I pledge allegiance to the

flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> At ease. And Ms. Vernon, if you would please call the roll. >> Steve Ward. >> Here. >> Uh Jason Daniel. Sherry Toliver. >> Present. >> Kim DeShazo. >> Here. >> Kathy Brown. >> Here. >> Well, thank you. All visitors, I believe we have one one's here. Okay, good. Uh we have Have you had an opportunity If you have had an opportunity to look at the agenda, do I have a motion to adopt the agenda? >> I make a motion. >> Do I have a second? >> Second. >> All in favor, say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Hearing none, motion carries. I believe the next thing we have

on the agenda is the consent agenda. Do I have a motion to adopt the consent agenda? >> Second. >> All in favor, say I. >> I. Hearing none, hearing no no uh I think the consent agenda is approved. Dr. Ward, I think there's some items on there. >> Just a just a couple items to mention. Thank you, Dr. Ward. Um item number two under consent agenda. I just I wanted to highlight here we we have employees and students in this particular matter um who are supporting a student in our marching band who has impairments and without the support of a student we just this spring also had a fellow student support one of her classmates so that she could run track and I I just think it speaks to our student body and our staff

that you know, putting in the extra time. Just imagine for a second the heat in July, the two three weeks at band camp and the support that our students are giving to one another so that there's opportunities. I just I think that's just speaks very well and highly for our student body. Item number eight, you can see approval Mr. Meade has brought a recommendation for middle school fee sheets and so this has been amended and for up for final approval. We do have approving a bid for playground repairs and enhancements over at Payne Elementary School. I know Miss Jean Grosso will appreciate those. Repairs, item number 11, we have several field trips throughout the throughout the fall that are up for approval and that is consent agenda for this morning. >> Thank you. We have

a new business. We have an agreement with Latham for a theater video at the high school. Dr. Morgan? >> Yes, two items here under new business that I asked Sandra if she would pull those from consent so that we could highlight those. The first is agreement so this is not approval of a bid, just approval of design through our architect for a theater video board. This is something that has been requested. So you imagine on the stage every time we have a production either middle school or high school, there's the need for set design and this takes hours and hours and hours. With a video board which I know that Brian Ferris and Mr. Kirkland have been looking into. Uh would allow them to switch sets, do all types of things, very similar to the

video board that we have at the football field as well as at the at Bryant-Denny Arena. And so, again, looking into the design of this, which will then give us an indication of cost, but just a way that when we talk about our three A's, everyday excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, um an odd to our theater program there at the high school. So, this is something that we would like to look into. Um I know we've been talking to a lot of our local churches because you'll see those as the backdrop for some of those areas as well. Um and so, that's something that we're looking into. So, I bring that OA agreement as a recommendation to the board. >> Questions? Do I have a motion to adopt? >> So moved. >> Have

a second? >> Second. >> All in favor, say aye. >> Aye. Any opposed? Hearing none, motion carries. Believe we have a second one for outdoor classroom. >> Yep. This the second item that I that we have here and I I want to thank There are several different individuals. You think of a a Zeke Smith who has contributed uh to the outdoor classroom for Cahaba. You think about an individual like Danny Garrett who has also contributed um through sources that he has access to. We are looking at an outdoor classroom which has been talked about for quite a while there at Cahaba Elementary School. And today, with the partnership with Danny Garrett, with a and and as well as with Shay Shellnut, and Dan Roberts, as well as uh Mr. Kirkland has worked to try to

find some some funds. And then also, the PTO has raised a significant amount of money for this. Uh we would like to do a similar OA agreement for this outdoor classroom. The one thing that I do want to mention about this is that um I've sort of turned over the design to our architect, Ryan Vernon, as well as Joy Tyner. And so, this has been a project that she has been very passionate about. We all know you know and been praying for Joy and William during this time, but I've asked Joy if she would do that and then what we would like to do is following the design process, the bid process, bring back to the Board of Education perhaps naming of this outdoor classroom for for Mrs. Tyner who has served as the the

only principal until Ms. Bruno will assume those duties here later that's this summer. So, that's something that we would like to bring as a recommendation to the board. >> Where will it be located? >> That's something that they're looking at. The one thing that I have asked, I've asked I said you you guys take this and the one thing I've asked is that would be located behind the fences. So. >> Do I have a motion to adopt? >> I'll make a motion. >> Do I have a second? >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Hearing none, motion carries. About the board, I think we have some personnel >> We do and members of the board have that before them. Do want to mention one retirement. Sandry Dempsey has been

a staple in our transportation department. Very appreciative for the work that that she has done and so bring a sadly bring a recommendation for a retirement for Sandy. I know that they are working on a replacement for her at this time, but as members of the board can see, recommendation for resignation of supplement, recommendation for stipend leave of absence, employee extra services agreement. You can see all of the different activities that our students have available to them over the course of the summer. Several recommendations for employment. I want to thank the principals for all that they're doing to go and we we've got some terrific additions to our staffs there and I want to thank the principals for the work they're doing this summer to get that done and then a few recommendations for transfer

and reassignment. So that's our personnel report for this morning. >> Very good. Do I have a motion to adopt? >> I'll make a motion. >> Have a second? >> Second. >> All in favor, please say I. I. Opposed? Hearing none, motion carries. >> one item if I could. So >> I I don't have it on the agenda, but I do have one administrative report and Mr. King is going to give a report on the consequences of state championships at Trussville City Schools. So that's our administrative report for this morning. That's the norm. Yeah, that's it. And and and Lance Walker would have been here. I'm excited for you to see Lance because you know, he's even outdone Mr. King on what he's going to do with his hair. No, I don't think so. He's given

that hard no, right? He and Jared Meads got a hard no. So yeah. >> There is a good There is a good article in the Tribune. Thank you Lance Walker. We appreciate that. Do we on the board have to have our hair hair dyed? Do we don't have to do that, do we? I believe that's everything. Do I have a motion to adjourn? All in favor, please stand. Thank you for being here.
