Amen. >> Amen. >> Attention, salute, pledge. I pledge algiance to the

flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. >> Miss Vernon, if you would call the role, please. >> Steve Ward, >> here. >> Sherry Tober, >> present. >> Jason Daniel, >> here. >> Kim Dezo here. Kathy Brown, >> here. >> Thank you. Want to welcome all the visitors with us tonight. Mayor Short, good to have you with us. I have a motion to do I have a motion to adopt the agenda for this evening. >> Have a second. >> Second. >> All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Not hearing any. The agenda has been adopted. At this time, we have several recognitions. Mr. Dr. Barton. this meeting up a little

bit. Uh hopefully our trip home will be as warm as our trip here to the board meeting this afternoon. Um I I feel like we're on our teacher of the year tour. We had a chance at the state of the schools to recognize our two teachers of the year and now we'll recognize them here at our board of education meeting and then wish them well as they go on to compete at the state level. Um, so with that said, if we could have Lauren Blake come forward from Magnolia Elementary School, our elementary teacher of the year. Lauren, please come forward. >> All right. So, so we have this uh this momento here that hangs at the board of education and will for this school year and then that's also something that uh Lauren you can

put either in your classroom or uh they're in your office at Magnolia and congratulations. We wish you well. Thank you. >> All right, Mr. Logan, if you would come forward. George Logan from Hwitt Trustful High School is our secondary teacher of the year. All right. So, coach, um it's my understanding, did we go ahead and cancel outdoor practices today for baseball? Is that okay? All right. All right. Well, just like with Lauren, we wish you the best as you head down to the state and and know both of you will represent Trustful City Schools well. So, thank you so much. We also uh have the opportunity uh this afternoon to um uh recognize our two bus drivers of the year. And so our first bus driver of the year for elementary is Lacricia Reed. Did

Lacricia make it in? Okay. All right. She she we were a little concerned she might not make it down the mountain. Is that correct? Okay. All right. All right. So, we'll make sure that we give her uh her recognition as well. And then Doug Massie is our secondary bus driver of the year. All right. Thank you, Mr. Massie. I'm going to ask that you uh you you certainly think of all of our students and our staff and especially our bus drivers tomorrow morning. As uh Mr. Massie, what time will you be heading to your bus for our morning pickup? I'm sorry. >> 20 to 6. So, we'll be thinking of you and and and know that the students will be excited to see your smiling face when you open that bus door. So, thank you

so much for what you do. All right. January is National School Board Member Month. It's a time to recognize and thank the Trustful City Schools Board of Education members. And I want to make sure that I thank our schools for providing each one of our board of education members with a gift. And also here is our mayor, Mayor Ben Short, who is going to read a proclamation. So, Mayor Short, thank you, Dr. Martin. Uh, Councelor Anderson uh sends her regards. She's uh in Hawaii while we're all here in 10 degree weather. Uh she's serving serving our country. She's doing her last uh tour of duty uh for the United States Air Force before she retires. Uh but I want to thank each and every one of you. Um this is a thankless job. I get

it. and uh we're just proud to recognize uh schoolboard appreciation month. So I'm going to read this proclamation. Uh whereas the city council of the city of Trussville, Alabama recognizes the vital importance of public education to the strength, prosperity, and future of our community. And whereas the city council appreciates the essential role played by local schoolboard members who establish sound policies and provide governance that ensures an efficient, effective, and high performing school system. And whereas schoolboard members are charged with representing local education interests to state and federal partners and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and standards. And whereas Trussell City Schools continues to distinguish themselves across the state of Alabama with each school earning outstanding results in the Alabama State Report Card. Whereas these accomplish accomplishments are the result of dedicated leadership by the

Trustful City Board of Education in partnership with exceptional educators, administrators, students, families, and the broader community. And whereas schoolboard members selflessly devote their knowledge, time, and talents as advocates for children and champions of educational excellence. Now therefore, be it proclaimed by the mayor and city council of the city of Trustful. We hereby recognize and salute the members of the Trustful City Board of Education and proclaim January 2026 as school board member recognition month. Thank you each and every one of you. So come down to take a picture and and Dr. Martin says you have to take a picture with me. You don't get a choice. So, you don't get to hide behind the the podium this time. >> Oh, serious Walker County? I think so. That's >> the way they work, isn't it? Thank you.

>> Would anybody else have to come up after Mr. Thank you, Dr. Ward. Um, board members, Dr. Martin, we're pleased to present the monthly financial report for the month of December uh 2025. It is in your packet for review. Uh all bank accounts have been reconciled to the general ledger. Financial extract has been uploaded to the state department with any necessary corrections made. Our total expenditures and transfers in the general fund for the month end uh was uh 23% 23.35% of our budget compared to 24.6% this time last year. So, you know, going right on course. Uh Avalor revenues are uh 24.28% 28% of our budget compared to 21.74% of the budget this time last year. Uh receipts are up uh about 14% because like I mentioned last time uh it's unclear whether receipts are

truly higher or whether they just came in earlier. Uh because that that fluctuates from year to year. Uh and as always by the end of February we'll have a clear picture of exactly how Edorum's um uh fell out for the year. It's just too hard to pinpoint that. Uh all transactions appear to be of a usual and routine manner and within the legal authorization and fiscal management of the policies of the board and upon board approval the financial report will be available on our website for review. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Real quick question. During this uh interesting economic times we're in, we seem to be doing well. So, thank you keeping up with us >> at this time. Have you've had an opportunity to look at the consent agenda? Any have a motion

have a do I have a motion to adopt the consent agenda? >> So move. >> Do I have a second? >> I second it. >> Hearing that, all in favor, please say I. >> I. Hearing no objections, the consent agenda is approved. Dr. Martin, there's anything you'd like to point out? Ju >> just a couple of items for consent agenda. Um, if board members will take a look item number six, I I do want to thank Mr. Kirkland. Uh, he is working again with Car Rigs and Ingram who do a nice job for us in terms of our annual audit, but this is the letter of engagement that puts that into motion. Item 12 uh is a approval funding letter for title 4 part A. As board members are aware, there are some federal funds

that the board opts to not take. And this is a letter uh that that puts that in motion as well. Item 13, Lean Architects. Um want to thank our PTO sponsors there at Payne who are partnering with us to improve some of our playgrounds at Payne Elementary School. Also want to make sure that I thank Miss Gan Groso as well for for working through that. So hopefully an improved experience for our students there at Payne Elementary. And then the last item, item 16, we have in this board packet over 225 field trips for the spring. Some of those, as you will note, are athletics. Uh but a lot of these are just great experiences for our students that tie in the practical of our classroom experience with some outside of the classroom experience. And so

I'm I'm excited to have our students do that. I also want to make sure because there are about what seven pages of field trips as you're thumb thumbing through those. I want to make sure that I thank our office staffs at each one of the schools, our office coordinators, our building principles. A special thank you to Sandra and Lori who work through these. Um we have a new software program that we are using for field trips and I think it makes this process so much more seamless. uh than what it would have been before if you remember the paper pencil version. We may not have seen Sandra today if she was still working on field trips. So, thank you to all of them for helping to put this in place uh and get this implemented

here for the school system. But Dr. Ward, that is our consent agenda for January. >> Okay. Thank you. Uh personnel report. >> Yes. Um members of the board have the personnel report there in front of them. We do have a few resignations. Uh recommendation for three nonmp employee coaches. Uh a long-term substitute recommendation, recommendation for supplement approval, one leave of absence. Uh we have three employee extra service agreement recommendations, one stipen recommendation, and then as board members can see um we have a few employment recommendations here on the personnel report. >> Okay. Thank you. Believe we move now to new business. >> I will need to approve. >> Okay. We need to make a motion to adopt the personnel report. >> Motion moved. >> Have a second. Thank you. All in favor, please. I >>

I >> Very good. Approved. And our new business. I believe we have something. We have a issue about approving funding agreement and some warrants. >> Yes. And I I think I've had a chance to talk with each one of our board members here. First action item under new business is to approve the funding agreement for the series 25 warrants. This is actually a refunding of the 2015 warrants that went to pay for Magnolia and Kahaba Elementary School. By refunding these warrants, what this allows us to do is get the funds necessary to replace the new track at the stadium. And if board members will remember, the track bid came out at just over 1.2 million. I don't know if we will get that full amount, but we will certainly get close to 75 80% of

that track cost with this refunding. And I just want to make sure that I mention we're very appreciative to our city leadership, Mayor Short, and the council for helping us to usher this process along, which will give all of us in the community a new track for our students. So, with that said, that is action item number one. >> Very good. I believe we have make a motion to adopt that. Do I have a motion to adopt? So, move. >> Second. Second. All in favor, please say I. I. >> Motion adopted. Thank you. And I believe we now have administrative reports. >> Uh action item number two. Just to place >> Oops. I think you have here >> place on the table. >> Oh, the preschool tuition registration. >> Okay. Move on that one. >>

Okay. So, we have a second action item here, which is to place on the table preschool tuition and registration letter. And um I just want to thank both Aaron Piper and Aaron Deck uh for researching area schools. And what this allows us to do is bring our preschool program more in line with what other systems in the Birmingham area are doing both from a uh procedural standpoint but also a cost standpoint. So I would recommend action item number two for the board members. >> All right. Place that on the table for 30 days. Is that what >> That's right. And I go ahead and do I do a motion. >> And if we would have a motion to adopt the preschool tuition and registration letter, do I have a motion to adopt? >> I make

a motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I all approved. Thank you. Place that on the 30 days. Administrative reports. >> Our first administrative report is going to be Dr. Puy. And um as members of the board know, we do put stock in the state department of education's report card that they give each of us. Each of our schools have scored well. One of the components of this is an attendance component. And so before the start of the school year, Dr. Puy and her team, Lori Walker and others uh put in place an attendance program to recognize students who are showing up for school and doing the things that they should be doing. And so she's going to talk about that program now. >> So you see on the screen um together we show

up and together we succeed. And the committee voted on this and came up with this motto and it has served us well so far because we do show up. We have to all be there, our teachers, our students, our administrators for us to be successful together. So we are hoping to encourage students to be there. This team does have administrators. It has our attendance clerks. It has teachers, secretaries, Lori Walker's on it. It gives us a real vision of what our students want, what they needed. So often we focus on the negative of not being at school and we wanted to change the picture of that and start focusing on the positives that are happening when our students show up. So you can see the people on our committee. So this committee focused on moving

beyond the report card, moving beyond truency. Um we have a great attendance um support person in Beth Cardwell and she does go down and file um complaints and file truency and those types of things but we wanted to really celebrate the kids that are showing up because there's a lot of students showing up in Trussell City Schools and our report card reveals that um we cut our chronic absenteeism in half last year on several in several of our report cards. I know Mr. meets did a great job working on his attendance. So, his team has been great in supporting this. Um, having that family and community engagement creates the opportunity for better education because our people are here. So, we've also gotten gift cards and the schools have come up with free ways to celebrate

kids with a free ice cream or a parking spot or different things that we're celebrating our students for just showing up for school. Um, this also aligns with our district goals. In every SIP plan, attendance is part of their their plan. They have to be there to learn. They have to be there to succeed. So attendance is a big part of what we do in Trustful. And we want our students to feel good about being at school, feel safe, but know that we're acknowledging the positives of what they do and not just when they don't show up. So to tell you we are celebrating um just over 700 students, I believe this semester and this is how we have chose those students. they had perfect attendance or they had no more than three absences that

were excused and no more than three tardies that were excused and they were enrolled in the first 30 days of the semester. So through the end of August, 1st of September or they were our traditional enrollments. So these are the numbers of students we're celebrating. Huitt Trustful High School had 216 students fall in that category. Huitt Trust Middle 167. Payne Elementary 179. Gahaba 66 and Magnolia 89. So, it's a lot of students for us. And over the next week, we'll pull for some random gift card drawings and other drawings for these students and celebrate them. And we've also sent a postcard to their homes so their parents know that they've been acknowledged. And we look forward to doing it again in the spring and hope our numbers stay this high and improve. So, thank you

for your time. >> Yeah, those are those are great numbers for this being the first semester. So hopefully this is something that catches on and we'll start to see more students um acknowledged here. So >> about a gift card. >> Yes. >> Yeah, that's right. That's right. That's right. Our second administrative report uh for this evening is our high school uh ASIP uh team and that's led by Mr. King. And so Mr. King, we'll turn the floor over to you, >> Dr. Martin. Uh members of the board, thank you for this opportunity for us to share uh our team's work. I probably have the easiest job uh for this evening because my job is going to be to introduce our team. Uh they we have an eightp person team and we have a representative group

from that team here tonight uh and led by Mrs. Angela Patix. Uh and then she has with has with her several of our uh key teacher leaders that assist us with this process. U Mrs. C Miss Katherine Raspberry, one of our assistant principles. Um, D'Angela Daly, uh, an excellent science teacher. Uh, we have, uh, Deanna Chelis, uh, who is with our special education department. Uh, Mr. Phil Peak, uh, who assists also in science. And this team, uh, has done some excellent work. And the importance of a CIP is so, uh, it can't be understated. Uh, we have our current reality and they really looked ahead to the future and what, uh, that future might hold for us. uh they look at that north star uh along the lines from our state report card to uh

what our community values and uh just the direction of our school district through the lens of academics, athletics, and the arts and looks to see what the future the bright future can hold for us. So, I'm going to pass the floor off to uh Mrs. Angela Patix uh and she's going to start us off here u with our presentation. >> Yes, I think actually Mer is gonna start us off. All right. Uh, good afternoon everybody. All right. Just to make sure that you know that we have a fully functional CIP ASIT team. These are our members. Some of them couldn't be here today. Um, I'll highlight the ones who are not. So, we've got Laura Massie, our library media specialist, and Cheney Bowers as well. All of these people have worked very hard over the

last uh several months to develop this continuous improvement plan. But to make sure that we all understand truly where we start, we have to ask the question, what drives our CIP? And we start with the state report card. We've heard that mentioned a few times today, this afternoon. So I believe you have this in front of you. You've got the screens. I'm going to go over what each of these components means and why we have to use that data to move us forward. So the state report card, we all heard last semester the high school got a 96, but that's easy to quantify here. But what does that truly actually mean? So, when it talks about academic achievement, that's going to be 20% of our score and that's related to the junior ACT. We all

know about that push for the ACT. March 11th is the day where we're going to have our juniors take that test. And what we're looking for is a percent of our students who reach the benchmark scores in each of those content areas. If they get that benchmark score, then um they will help us move our numbers. So the last few years we've gone from the 79 um% to the 78 and we've got 83% of our students maintaining the college and career readiness benchmark which is wonderful but we know we can push forward. So that looks certainly like an area of improvement for us. The academic growth I'm not going to spend too much time because we are running the table there with 100s which is amazing but what that is is our preac and 10th

grade gets measured to the ACT and 11th grade. So, we're looking to see are our students making progress and as you can tell that we are. Our teachers are doing amazing jobs and so are our students. The CCRI I want to really sort of dig into and although it's only 10% of the the report card, it's really important because every single senior starting this year for and uh moving forward will have to have a CCRI to graduate. So, what does that mean? So, according to the state, there's eight different ways that you can get a CCRI. So, the first being benchmarking on the ACT in any of the the subcategories, the next is going to be an AP uh qualifying score. So, if a student takes an AP class, sits for that exam, and then

gets a three or higher, they can get a CCR that way. The other way you can get it is dual enrollment. We love for our students to get a taste of college when they're still in high school. So, they can be enrolled in a dual enrollment course and then earn that credit. As long as it's transcripted, they can get the CCRI that way. The second way would be the work key. So, some of our students are going to go directly into the workforce. The work keys is essentially a basic skills test where if a student earns a four or higher, they can also get um the CCRI. Then we have two that are related to CTE. One of them is going to be a credentiing um pathway. So, students can take certification tests. they get

a credential within a pathway in one of our next one could be a completer pathway which means they take three sequenced courses um with a passing score to make sure that they get or grades excuse me um to get that completer pathway um and we're so fortunate to have so many ummies at Huitt where we give our our students an abundance of opportunities to get that CCRI pathway or excuse credential through the CTA CTE. The next is the graduation rate which is now going to be sort of encompassed with the CCRI. That's looking at are we graduating our students in the four-year cohorts. Okay. So, we want to make sure as you can see that's 30% of our score that our kids are going 9th grade to 10th to 11th and 12th. We do um

incur any student who's transferred. So, if we get a kiddo in 11th or 12th grade or you know whatever grade, we have to make sure that they're en they're graduating out with their designated cohort. And then the last one, Dr. previous just talked about this is chronic absenteeism. So this is one of the numbers where we want it to be low, right? So you can see over the last few years we've had about a 9% rate where kids are counted uh chronic absentee if they miss more than 10% of the school year. So that's 10% of our overall report card, but what we've done the last few years is pretty exceptional. You can see it's dropped down to the 7.88. So fantastic news. All of this helps drive our why. Why do we need to

improve as a school if we have a 96? Surely there's a way to get better. So that's the sort of hard data, if you will, the black and white. And then we have to think about what is the gray area. What takes place at our schools that helps us understand why we need to do the things we do. So the first thing you have to start with is teacher voice. Everything in our our classrooms hinges upon teachers telling us, administrators, school leaders, community members what we need. So we start with giving them platforms and opportunities to tell us those things. So Mr. King's done things like having open forums every month to open up himself to the the library to teachers to say, "Hey, give me your problems. Give me your questions. Give me your

ideas." We have monthly leadership team meetings. We also have our Thursday PLC times that helps teachers have opportunities to share out. And then of course we have surveys. So some of y'all probably have gotten surveys before saying, "Tell us what the climate and culture is at Huet Trustful High School." But we send those to our teachers as well. We also do needs assessments um in the the end of the year. From there, we take all that input. We look at the data. So all of those things from our school report card, the ACT, AP enrollment, we could look at the qualifying scores. We could look at our CTE. Do we need a new academy? Do we need to enhance an academy? And start having those conversations about what will make Hu at Trustful the best.

Right? Then we're also going to be looking at stakeholder engagement. All of you are stakeholders. stakeholders, the people who have, you know, have interest in what we're doing. So, we have opportunities in person to help you guys talk to us. So, not only are we sending you those electronic surveys, we're also asking you to come to our school, come be present, right? So, come to curriculum night, come to open house. If you got a senior, go to the college and career nights that uh Lisa Smith puts on. If you have questions about FASA, go see uh the the experts about FASA so your kid can get into the colleges that they want to and you can have the financial support that you want. But we're really trying to partner with our our school community because

we are your servant leaders. We need to do what y'all need. Um that also manifests in what we're doing to support our teachers when it comes to professional learning and collaboration. So, how are we essentially enhancing our toolkits for our teachers? Um this year we've started with the instructional framework where we've all gotten on the same page to figure out what does it look like that a teacher is doing and then what is it that a student is doing. We all have to be on the same page for that. The next thing that we've really prioritiz prioritized is teacher collaboration where we want to give teachers the opportunity to talk about kids to talk about data to talk about things that will make the next step better. And then of course we will talk later

about professional learning. Our teachers are hungry for knowledge so they can support our kids. So, we're trying to do a better job of embedding that within our school day. So, that's our CIP. That's what drives it. And then here, we figured out, well, from all of those data pieces, if you will, we have three main objectives. The first being increasing academic achievement, which we'll talk about in a minute. We always want to push the bar when it comes to that. The second is improve climate and culture. We want to make sure that our learning organization is as healthy um as it can be so we can support our students. And then of course want to foster high quality professional learning so our teachers can be the best for our students. So now Mr. Chelis. Hi

I'm Dina Duchellis special ed teacher at Hu Trustville High School and I'm going to talk about all the ways that we are trying to increase our academic achievement. So, we're trying to move the score from a 96 to a 97. Okay, that's very, very difficult. So, we had to kind of decide what things we're going to focus on. And those things are instruction, rigor, and then how do we monitor that growth? So, um, some of the really big things we do is first off, we have amazing teachers at Huitt Trustville High School. I mean, that's really what drives all of this. I'm relatively new to the area. I picked this school district because Hwitt Trustville is an amazing school district. Um so we have uh created some critical initiatives that focus on increasing the composite

at ACT scores for our students. Um we do this by tracking students in progress learning and central waller softwares. Um this gives us data on our students multiple times a year so that we know that um we're actually making that progress that we need to see. um core teachers, they um embed ACT skills in their everyday instruction, their instructional practices to ensure that our students have these tools that they need to be successful on the ACT. We're offering a boot camp for students who need a little boost. Um math teachers, they plan together and they target certain students, especially those that scored a level one on um those early scores. And in addition to all of that, we have rigor in just all of our classes. We have expanded the access to AP and advanced

courses. We offer so many AP courses at the high school. Um the grant that we had before really um put that into effect and we're going to continue offering those classes. Um I have a student who's my own child has benefited from those um AP courses. Um, in addition, we have, oh, the photo that's up there, that is Maggie Raspberry's, um, AP Euro class. They were solving um, something. I I had asked some teachers like, "What do you do for rigor in your class?" And they sent me some pictures and told me some really, really cool um, projects that they were doing in their classes. Um, so, but all of this is a team effort. We can't do this without everybody. And so, the CCRI attainment, that's really where we all have to work together.

So yes, that includes AC, ACT, AP, um, but it's also these academy programs that we have. A lot of our students rely on that and the state says we have to be at 100%. Our kids need this to graduate. So it's become super super important. And I'm a special ed teacher and this falls on us a little bit because our students are less likely sometimes to be the AP student and to um benchmark on the ACT. So these career pathways are really really important for my population of students generally speaking and um our essentials pathway students and that's what I focus on at school. Um so we have many ways to achieve this but completing three years of the CTE programs is something that we do and I don't know if you've ever seen these

programs like our culinary department is amazing. Our um well we our teacher of the year Mr. Logan, Coach Logan, you know, if you ever gone down there, those kids are so engaged in the electrical. And then, um, uh, Mr. Tidmore's classes, like you can see the kids right there building. They're always doing something. They're never just sitting there. We have our business department. I know Miss Benson takes the students to so many different places. I don't want to forget anybody, but like those classes are awesome. The culinary serves us Thanksgiving dinner once uh or Thanksgiving dinner for lunch one day. I think that's probably the highlight of uh the for the teachers for the year, you know, but but we're engaging these students. We're we're giving them all of these opportunities. They could leave us

and walk out the door and get a job. And that is super important not only to our report card, but you know, for our kids. Um, so as xed teachers, I want to go back to that again. Like we we now have the posters on our wall reminding our kids every day what these CCR eyes are for our kids. You've got to complete one of them. So what's it going to be? And so those conversations have to start in ninth grade and 10th grade because if we need them to complete three years of a program, what do you want to do? We can give it to you. We have it. Um and so, you know, they participate in hands-on learning. Our science lab classes are amazing. Um you can see that. And then we have

amazing admin and counselors and everybody together. They collect all this data and they put it together. and then being a part of the SIP team, you know, seeing what that data looks like and seeing it increase and grow and um but anyway, that is what we're doing to increase academic achievement. It all starts with the amazing educators we have at Trustville High School. Taking some papers. Next on the list is Oh, the next one would be to improve school culture and climate. Is that you? Did I go the wrong way? >> Okay. I did go the wrong way. I did. >> I'm going left. >> Oh, right. >> I had it upside down. That's why. >> Sorry. There you go. >> Good evening. Uh our next objective uh on our SIP is uh to continue

to improve school climate and culture. And uh we do that by efficiency and communication. That is that is ultimately uh the how we do this the best. Uh culture and climate as we know is something that starts from the top down. And our administration does work diligently to keep this in the forefront of their mind when they interact with anybody in the school uh or design procedures. We see this as we focus on student engagement. um as as a staff that is that is our main focus for uh for all of us uh this year that we're what can we do to increase student engagement. It's already incredibly high. How do we get it even higher because what do we do at HGHS? We excel. And uh so we have a few pictures here that

show a few of these things. Uh so you see uh that top picture there is our student leadership team uh welcoming our military family members right around Veterans Day. Then uh then you see Mr. King uh welcoming uh the faculty to the Christmas party um that uh it was a great time of fellowship and uh seeing a few people with some some talents that we didn't know that they had. Uh we had uh Miss Massie get up there and sing. It was amazing. Uh but uh truly does make HTHS feel like a family. And then we have uh even our SRO's get in on it. Um, so Officer Taylor was able to speak to our freshman biomemed students about some of his time as uh as an evidence technician for the department and that bottom

picture uh is a a really amazing picture there. So uh that's the reindeer games which some of our football players and our life skill students uh were able to play some games uh right around the holidays and just really cool seeing students that don't normally get to be together too much uh be able to get together and have some fun. So those are some visual ways that we can see the positive climate and culture that we have at HTHS. Um but we also have many other ways that are are not really seen. Okay. So one policy uh or not just one policy but we have uh many policies uh regarding attendance and trying to improve attendance but also as as Dr. Dr. Puy spoke on earlier in encouraging and congratulating and um and rewarding people

who are at school. So, we have both ends of the spectrum of you're here, let's reward you, and hey, if you're not here, let's encourage you to be here by having some policies and procedures that allow us to uh to be better at that. One thing that we do is allow for makeup quizzes and tests outside of uh the core class time, which really helps uh teachers and students be able to catch up without getting behind. And I think that's incredibly important. Another point of positivity is we are constantly celebrating student and teacher achievement. Um so at I mean anytime that we're getting together as a faculty, uh Mr. King and the administration is always like, "Hey, here's some shoutouts for some of our students." what they've been doing. Here are some shoutouts of what

some teachers have been doing. And um I mean and we have the perfect attendance wall. We have um I mean just all kinds of different things. It's uh we could go on and on on that. And we uh we also have a great opportunity for professional development as uh Mr. Raspberry was talking about that um that we know that we have amazing teachers at HGHS and how can we continue to improve is by uh by having opportunities to uh learn more about our craft and uh be the best that we can be about it. Lastly, all of uh all of the administrators administrators have an open door policy either through dedicated uh time set aside as Mr. King has once a month that directly aids in teachers and uh staff feeling supported. This open communication

allows for uh more clear and thoughtout expectations to be addressed. When people know exactly what's expected, we can focus on teaching, learning, and student achievement. So, we'll go on to Miss Dailyy. There we go. Which brings us to fostering um highquality professional learning. And this was driven by student um teacher voice, excuse me. Um the teachers talk with our administrative team and our administrative team, they listen. And so they are providing um us with job embedded professional developments. Um, one that we are focusing on is student engagement and through Miss Raspberry leading us um, in instructional rounds. That's where groups of teachers get together, they observe each other um, through classroom engagement and then they go back and they reflect and of course how can they improve on student engagement. Our second one that we've

been looking at is powerful task designs that is being led by Miss Patik. Um in that group we are looking at increasing rigor and also of course student engagement and how can we take those um powerful tasks back to our classroom. And our third one that we're looking at is geared towards our um exceptional education department where Miss Tammy Lee is leading a group of teachers to help them with student being led in those IEP meetings so that students can become advocates um of their own learning and also how they can grow with their learning. And so that's part of our um professional learning um that we are looking at at HCHS. which brings us to bringing it all together. Right? So, I hope that it's um clear in our continuous improvement plan that this

is a cyclical process for us at HW Trustful High School. This is not a linear plan that begins in August, ends in May, and then starts over the next school year. We are constantly evaluating our practices um and our procedures so that we can best meet the needs of students. As you can see in our image here, starts with a group of stakeholders at any point in the school year who uh collaborate together to analyze da d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d da evaluate both formal and formal feedback and then make adjustments where we need those adjustments to be made to to

again best meet the needs of students um all the while keeping our priority on student achievement. So, um I firmly believe that a commitment to these objectives and critical initiatives, which I believe you have in your in a packet, um will keep us on this amazing trajectory that we've been on for the last five years. That is a testament to the work that our teachers and our students put in every day. They show up ready to work hard. They're committed to um overcoming challenges. they're enthusiastic about the teaching and learning that's happening at Huitt Trustful High School. So, I believe that we'll continue to see ACT scores rise. We will continue to see enrollment um and success in our AP program and a decline in chronic absenteeism. Um and just want to conclude by saying

thank you to Mr. King um our district leaders, our board for your support. It's your support that helps us fulfill the mission of you at Trresville High School, which is to um provide those opportunities for academic and career competencies. I think I'm saying it verbatim so that they can become productive citizens. So um uh we appreciate you and want to open the floor now to any questions that you might have. >> No, thank you. Thank you. It was our goal that you walk away with uh the concept that uh good is the enemy of great and we're not happy with where we are, we are c we celebrate for a minute and then we move on to the next objective. So uh if if you can't see the urgency, uh I promise you that uh

it's palpable in the building. >> Thank you. >> Want to COMPLIMENT compliment the team. Compliment the team. Great job. I appreciate this very much. Thank you. >> I have one announcement. >> I don't believe we have anyone who signed up for the public participation, but Dr. Martin, I think you may have an announcement. >> I do. So, there's a um a lot of discussion right now on social media about what Tuesday, January 27th looks like. So, I'm either pleased to announce or sorry to announce that tomorrow we will be on regular schedule and Miss Sandra is going to put some social media response out after the meeting. So, we really appreciate you all being here today. Thank you. >> Comment about tomorrow's decision. >> It depends on who you ask. We will now make a

motion to adjurnn. Do I have a motion to adjurnn? >> Salute. >> All right. All in favor, please stand. >> Okay. >> Thank y'all for
