I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We don't have anybody out in the public comment here. Do you want me to take this to the plan B argument I made last time? We're going to do good. I got it. Got it. Well, she's got to like like my Angie on the plaque. What's the plaque? So, you want to call me back? Well, here you go. What? What kind of patience do you have? I don't think you're going to get that. Uh presented to the Selinda Solly Tucker England School District Board of Directors in appreciation and recognition for your continued service and dedication to the England School District. 15 years of service

0022010 to 2025 from Dr. Judy Hubbellston. You want to get your picture with her taking? Oh, we can. I don't especially like to take pictures, but you got it. >> [laughter] >> Let's try something this way. Here we go. Look. I would say "Freeze." Freeze. A lot better than the plaque you've got a cat here by by Angie. Yeah. Is it mad? I would say no. Well, we'll we'll figure it out together when we get there. Can we can we take that back to executive session like that? What did you say you did? What? Okay. But you want to do executive No, we're going to go back there in a minute. Okay. Public comments are closed. All right. And how much do we have on right now in the bank? Or or double percent? I

don't think we're losing today, but should be about 1.8 to 2 million. And we're still on the up right now? Yes. Yes, we're in good shape. So, I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda and financial So, my motion by Mr. Allen is second. Hearing by Mr. Knowles, all those in favor say "Aye." Aye. All those opposed say "No." I would like to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Okay, we're going into executive session at 6:02 for personnel issues. Back in here. 6:05. Okay. Okay, Jamie Drew, your principal's report. Um if you didn't get it in your packet, um cuz I was late turning it in. Sorry, guys. So, I should have stopped on the side. Um current enrollment is at 321. The March newsletter is attached at the bottom. On the 5th,

we had the 100th day dress like you're 100. On the 5th also, we had our second grade breakfast. The 9th was a makeup snow day. The 10th, our fifth grade took a field trip to historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock. On the 12th, our third grade breakfast. That was our final breakfast in bingo, and I think parents have really enjoyed playing bingo and having a good time. They're very competitive, more than the kids sometimes. Um and our kindergartners went to the England Museum. If you did not know, England has a museum, and Pat Norsworthy is generous enough to invite our kindergartners every year. In Wit and Wisdom, they study about then and now, like transportation then versus now. And so, it was really nice for them to go and see like wagons and an old

schoolhouse. They really enjoyed it. Um the 17th, today, St. Patrick's Day, wear green, and our students left for the East Conference. On the 20th, report cards go home, and then the 24th or the 27th, we have spring break. On the back, um I usually do some kind of literacy data, but I did math data this time. This is with our Istation, and it can be a little confusing, but from February to March, which they're tested monthly, the first two columns, you're looking for those numbers to go up. So, that's our tier one kids. We want an increase of kids um earning tier one. And so, I highlighted everything green on the different grade levels of the kids that went up in tier one. On the far right side, tier three, we want those numbers to

go down. Those are our struggling students, and so we want that number to go down, and I highlighted in green all of those that went down. The middle, um it's just based on if your tier one goes up or your tier three goes up if you want that up or down, but I highlighted that as well. So, you can see clearly on there, we have one area of red, and that's fourth grade tier three math. So, that lets us know we really need to focus in on those fourth graders, our tier three students in math, and we do that um by working during RTI and making sure that they're getting pulled for those extra interventions, and that can be through our sped teachers, our parapros, our activity teachers, our interventionists. So, that's what we know,

and math's really an area that we need to work on. Any questions for the All right. Britney Robinson has ball game duty tonight at Hazen, but her report is in your packet if you'd like to read through it. And if I could, I'd like to go on into the superintendent's report. Uh this week, we have spent the majority of our time dealing with the aftermath of the fight over at Portland. Uh we had to attend a meeting at AAA Monday morning. Uh Mr. Cheek came by for part of that meeting. Uh we started out with me and the uh superintendent from Barton in Lance Taylor's office, and I told Lance that, you know, clearly our students started it, and I apologized to him for that. Uh when we got through with all of it, Bruce

Guthrie and I shook hands, and I told him, you know, that I apologize on behalf of the students who behaved badly and the fans who behaved badly. And that wasn't all the students, and it wasn't all the fans. But uh Jim Cheek and I both suggested to Lance Taylor that when they redraw the districts next year, that perhaps we should not be in the same district with Barton. Uh it's a long way over there. I think it's about an hour and 45-minute drive. Is that correct? About that? It's a long way for us to go. I think that would help somewhat. Uh we had to do an internal investigation. We had to watch all that video. They sent us a bunch of video clips to watch, and we had to identify people who were down

on the floor fighting. And that was hard to do because some of the film was muddy, and it you know, just when you have just a gang of people in a fight, it's hard to tell who's who. But anyway, we got that report sent to AAA. I put out an official statement to the Little Rock TV stations essentially that yes, England started it, and we are embarrassed, and we are sorry. And we're going to do better. The uh next thing I did, I contacted the superintendent at Portland and gave her my heartfelt apologies for how that went down. And if you'll notice, their radar over there is called the Wida. Uh and uh I can't think her husband's name. Anyway, the arena's named after them. Miss Wida is on the State Board of Education, and

she has always been helpful and kind to me, and I asked the superintendent to please forward my message to her. I did not have her contact info. Okay. Uh after we got our report done, we had a meeting with all the head coaches, Coach Jackson, our athletic director, Britney Robinson, our uh high school principal, and we brainstormed and came up with some ways to prevent this from happening again. I feel like we need to be proactive. And when we get all this compiled, I tasked Britney Robinson and Coach Jackson with coming up with a new and improved athletic uh manual, I guess, would be the right term for it. Everybody at the table wants to do this, and again, I will bring it to you all to approve when I have all this put together.

Here are just some thoughts that we had in this. If you start a fight, you're going to be out of athletics for a calendar year. If you start a fight at a baseball game in March, you're not going to play sports until the next March. I think we're going to have to get everybody's attention. We need to develop a culture of good sportsmanship here. We need that. Uh athletics are very important in a healthy school culture. That is the route to a scholarship for many of these kids, and a ticket out of poverty. We uh want to enforce seating in the gym. Visitors on one side, home on the other, and don't be crossing over. We want to keep that very segregated. And I would like to do away with that bottom row of seats

where you're about that far from the court. Uh I need to go over there with Mr. Woods and see if we could just take that up. I know it will reduce our seating, but we have trouble at just about every game with fans getting out on that floor. And the refs get sick of it and people who are at the scoring table, they get tired of people running back and forth. And you know, we're going to escort some fans out if they behave that way. We even talked about and again, these are just thoughts I'm sharing with you. Maybe playing our first three home games without fans, with just administrators and policemen and so forth. We have got to get the fans to behave better, also. And then we thought about maybe the next two

games we would just let parents in and then we would open it up to the public with the caveat that if we have some major disruption, we're not going to do that again. We'll just ban people from it. Now again, these are just just thoughts that we're having that I wanted to share with you. Uh We need to preach a culture of good sportsmanship. That's something that I I don't know. I don't really know why it gets so intense with Barton, but it does. I'm still fairly new here and I'm kind of learning these things. But I would like to say one thing. Out there on the social media, it got started that Coach Mackey and I left early. We did not. You can clearly see me in the video standing there, red hair shining,

purple t-shirt shining. Uh I stayed until they had cleared the the floor. And uh I started out and stepped on the parking lot and I could see adults fighting at the far end and there were policemen there, so I my phone rang and it was AAA and they told me I'd be part of a conference call in a few minutes. So I I got on in the truck so I could hear and we started kind of easy out. I had called Coach Mackey to make sure the kids were okay. I mean, as a lady, I didn't go to the locker room. Uh I called Officer Townsend to make sure all the police were okay and we met an ambulance as we were trying to get back out to the highway and I called I think

Officer Townsend. I talked to so many people on the phone that day to make sure it wasn't any of our kids and that if I needed to turn around and come back. But Coach Mackey was following AAA fight protocol. He was doing exactly what AAA wanted him to do. They uh >> [clears throat] >> have you learn these protocols every year and you get in trouble if you don't follow it. Coach Mackey did exactly what he was supposed to do. But anyway, that has consumed much of our time this week and uh I will uh Let us move on the agenda now. Uh now, I need you all to uh authorize me to start the search for the board position. So I'll make a motion to authorize the superintendent to seek applications for a vacant

board position. Second. Motion by Mr. Adams, second by Mr. Tyler. All in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. 6-0. Do you want me to just run through the new business after that? Okay. Under new business, uh we are going to have to ask for a pre-K price increase. I hate to do this, but as all of you know, gas and groceries and everything else is just out of sight and we're going to have to increase as well. Currently, for uh the full week, we charge $100 and I'm asking that we increase that to 150. Uh Danielle Williams and I worked together on this and she gave me a list of what other schools charge and that would be in line. For a faculty member, it was $75 and now it's 125. For a reduced week, it

was 50 and now it will be 100. So it is my recommendation that we adopt those pre-K price increases. Is that pre-K price for continuing for the rest of this year or is that >> No, this will be effective for the 26-27 school years. So I'll make a motion. Any discussion? Make a motion. Motion by Mr. Tiny, second. Second. Second by Mr. Scott G. Any discussion? All in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. 6-0. Okay. And we're going to have to go up on our gate price. Uh I was in a a Zoom with all the superintendents in our district and just about everybody has gone up from $5 to $7. And we're going to have to do that, too, because officiating costs so much and that keeps going up. And again, I I hate to

have to ask for an increase and I know that $7 is going to make it difficult to make change, but we're going to have to do that, I'm afraid. Officials are very expensive. Angie, about what do they charge now? 150 to 200. Yeah. 150 to 200. >> how many games? Yeah. Yeah. So it would be my recommendation that we increase our gate price effective for the 26-27 school year from $5 to $7. For ball, baseball and all the same check. Yeah. So I'll make a motion. But we're not we're not able to charge for baseball, are we? Oh, I I don't know. >> You can be blocked off. Do we have a way? I mean, there would be You can block off that. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, cuz there's not really a

way to keep them out. >> [clears throat] >> We only used to block off. We blocked off by Jackie Don Cothran's house and put a gate up on There's a chain on the fence. >> does. I mean, definitely not for that. I think we need to Yeah, we need the money for our athletic funds. Yeah, we need to get all that money we can. >> over there on the back side of ballpark road and then someone coming down. Cemetery and then on the turnaround and block it off when the girls are playing. Usually they play at the same time, right? A lot of times. Depends, yeah. So I'll make a motion to approve the gate increase price from $5 to $7. So moved. Mr. Adams makes the motion, second. Second. Second by Bobby Jones. All

in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. 6-0. Uh it is my recommendation that you approve the model policies 3.27.1 and 3.27.1F. These are uh put together by Lucas Harder of the School Board Association and I know y'all know Lucas. He's uh a smart guy and I'm always quite sure that his policies are airtight. So I'll make a policy motion to approve model policy 3.27.1 and 3.27.1F. Make a motion. Motion by Mr. Jones, second. Second. Second by Mr. Adams. All in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. 6-0. And the PPC has gotten this together a calendar for 26-27 and I would recommend that you accept that calendar as presented. Uh it's in your packet. It's the colored sheet that looks like this. Did we have teacher work days last year? Uh [clears throat] Well, I wasn't here when

they approved the calendar. Did we have teacher work days last year? They were in the summer and they built two into the calendar this year in the summer. In the summer, Quindy's here for you to see if y'all have questions. Oh, good. The good thing this time we put this Sorry. I have a hand. This detailed and it kind of breaks it down for you. Shows you exactly how many hours we have to have, how many we, you know, we did that, but there are four and a half work days at the beginning of the school year and then teachers have to get two on their own the summer. Some point in the summer, teachers will have to go, you know, to their particular Like I can go to a library thing cuz a lot

of times whatever we give doesn't apply to me, you know. So these are some of the Mondays they do? Yes, I think so. >> And then we've had We've got two work day Mondays. One of them is December 14th and one of them is January 6th. And I need these so I'll have the time available to talk to the teachers. Sometimes I need to have a faculty meeting and you just about can't make people come to meetings after I agree with that. That's why I was like I don't I don't think I remember it from last year having any of that. >> have that. It It's pretty similar other than that. Yeah, other than that and I think that's an improvement, but Quindy, you do tell the calendar committee that if we have to make

up a day, don't we ever do that the Monday after we go on daylight savings time? >> [laughter] >> Don't ever do that again. >> [clears throat] >> That nearly killed me anyway, but please don't do that. Yeah, I I you know, I got to miss that one. >> [laughter] >> Well, and I thank the PPC for all the hard work they do on that, but Anything else? Questions? So I'll make a motion to approve the 2026-2027 school year calendar. Motion Motion by Mr. Tiny, second. Second. Second by Mr. Scott G. All in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed. 6-0. And it's my recommendation that you approve the 2026-2027 salary schedules and Angie, there are no differences from last year, are there? No. Same as last year. So I'll make a >> [clears throat] [cough] >>

And I recommend that we pay will be meals co-op the $10,581.66 services they render. Okay, this is for preschool and it comes out federal [clears throat] money. Okay, great. Good to know. We we gave them almost $6,000 just a month or two ago. Uh what was that last month? Do y'all remember? PD. There's federal money that is provided [clears throat] to us for this. We're using that federal money whenever we can. That helps us on our district funds. Now, you all have already approved my contract, but I need you to approve the performance targets that Oh, oh, I'm getting ahead of myself. Sorry. The performance targets at the back of my contract. Kind of modified them and popped them up and so forth. Yes, please. Whitney Moore's bill this month. It was somewhat more than

it's been being and it exceeds Yes, I would recommend that we put Brandy Talent, our LEA director, on a 240-day contract and give her the $10,000 stipend that she previously had. Yes, restore this to her. For next school year, for the '26-'27 school year. Okay, and I want to recommend that we rehire our administrators, Britney Robinson, high school principal, and Tammy Bennett, elementary principal. And I recommend that we hire Dalton Tillman as a janitor. >> [clears throat] >> He'll be at the elementary school. Thank you all so much.
