all right we'll start with me a rule of the agenda oh you do yeah Allison buck yeah Deborah Mexica here Jonah copy here Colleen Crawley David Issa absent John Qatar ski here very people here Sophie grow brilliant girl a Peggy you Warner Leonard Leonard here you have a quorum Oh councilmember excuse me now we will do the approval of the agenda moot second any discussion hi great now we have time for public comment my name is Heidi trudell technically I live in MC but I was invited to speak this evening about bus shelters specifically but my background is with bird collisions so everyone knows that birds hit Windows and it's incredibly preventable so with bus shelters because they're small they're isolated you can turn all of them into art projects that then don't kill birds

so the average bus shelter assuming that it's clear glass kills anywhere from 1 to 10 birds per year and unfortunately because this is what I do the stats on this are actually really depressing about 20% of what I pick up is hummingbirds yeah another 40% are a mixture of Warblers thrush is only about 15% or resident species like chickadees and some of the woodpeckers but yeah so what I'm trying to do kind of as a side project with Washtenaw safe passage is work on a certification for window artists to actually get certified in painting window art that's birds safe so that just means that any gaps in their art are pretty much no larger than 2 by 2 or 2 by 4 inches and so there's plenty of room for creativity you can use perforated

vinyl not so perforated vinyl paint like it can be multi media obviously but yeah the sky is the limit and this is something that is being researched in Oklahoma right now but they're using this standard 2x2 inch spacing for little tiny white vinyl dots which is pretty boring but these are the kind of options that building owners and managers are looking at when they have windows that are being hit by birds so that is why I'm here and I don't know if you'll have any questions I sent Sophie a pile of links and descriptions about more of this but I'm not sure how else I can help you hi Heidi we met on the street do you remember that sounds about right you remember me as being part of the brush monkeys so that was

on the street and Ipsy was not on the close side of the street was that the realty office okay at the building that is abandoned right now but Owen might be it's up for rent so feel free to reach out to me if we can help in any way I have an email that's half composed here you I'm still trying to get a little bit more wording in the certification okay thing but yeah having an artist's interpretation of this will probably be a very handy editing process I had a question to have you identified how many bus stops you're looking at are just preliminary literally every bus stop that has glass is a potential problem I'm based in epsy but my most recent batch of emails was with the city of Detroit I think they

were looking at a hundred and fifty bus shelters this is something that I think is really cool because you can have either schools or Scout groups or businesses in the area sponsor bus art which is then free PR for them and it's good green PR for the city I don't know what Detroit's gonna do with that I'm on the board for Detroit ottoman and it's it's a really strange combination of Detroit is a certified urban bird treaty city which means that they have a US Fish and Wildlife designation basically recognizing that as a city they are working towards making their area safer for birds I don't know if that's been approached necessarily because right now I guess the transportation person is an interim person okay but that's that's part of what we're looking at as

as far as looking at Ann Arbor goes I don't know it's really crowded here so I try to stand it sorry I lived in a town of 430 people before I moved here yeah we're still not that big of town but but bigger than that it seems to me and I'm just kind of tossing it out there that this might have some opportunities for youth project perhaps you know and I know that the certification there are some requirements but I think that we could certainly work collaboratively on whatever those projects might be and I think this idea of a vinyl actually does sound you know pretty interesting apart from a Laura mural so maybe it's something that one of the committees could look into and I'm looking at you use art because I think that

that might be a nice place for this to at least start being thought about as a way to sort of be an engagement project I did email AATA I want to say in 2016 so I monitor the Ypsilanti district library for bird collisions they kill about a hundred Birds a year that we know of I had gotten a report of a bird that had their bus shelter when I reached out to AATA the response was we will check and we will address anything if we find out that there is a problem so not optimal but so if I can chime in I was just gonna add to that councilmember for Ward five here and welcome appreciate you bringing this up to our attention but Matt Carpenter is a CEO at triple-a ta he's pretty responsive

and and that's who as a staff has indicated operating on maintain those bus stops throughout not just me and I were but in Ypsilanti as well as you know so I would recommend reaching out to Matt Carpenter I know the Downtown Development Authority holds you know a meeting called the partnerships committee meeting every other month and it's not it's at a convenient time it's usually in the morning on a weekday second worth it Wednesday second Wednesday I believe we might be even meeting this upcoming Wednesday the 12th at 150 North 5th Ave third floor about 9:00 a.m. but we get together community partners and talk about collaborating on many different things so those are the two entities that I think along with this body can help assist and and getting it a more attention and

because obviously it's always gonna be how much money this is gonna cost who's gonna pay for it I'll be the first question so me and and maybe you know those numbers offhand in for the library the quote was something like 80,000 but they also wanted the very most expensive solution which of course is the least visible I did remember what I was going to say about vinyl super easy to change out you can use whatever designs you want from season to season or year to year some of that stuff is rated for seven years or but also there was a study done in Poland that basically supported graffiti as a way to make bird safe bus shelters which I thought was pretty comical and a very interesting thinly veiled threat because most the research out

of Europe is based in Germany and they're really stodgy so anyway thank you so it's much you know so the city has done a project with vinyl wrapping the traffic boxes it's something that comes to fruition I think there's a lot of people on this group that would be interested and eager to participate and help awesome awesome I will probably ask you more about details for the Matt Carpenter second Wednesday transportation collaboration thing yeah sure yes Jeff along with Olli are you just promoting this idea or do you have a funding source I wish there was funding okay Sophie at the Design Review Board I represent I'm a liaison on the design review board for the city this idea was presented and so it's just a matter of money so thank you yeah no I

I don't have a plan I don't have funding I'm just here to encourage you if anyone wants to do anything to bus shelters encourage it can I ask why bus shelters are your target because there's glass everywhere literally everything is my target but the email that I got from Sophie was the Sally was yes somebody else was there were like five degrees of separation I'm not actually sure who originally wanted me to talk to y'all but that being said they were concerned about glass bus shelters but yes I would absolutely love to see from ground level two the first 60 feet up of every building be bird safe yeah because I've been doing this since 2003 and it's a lot of dead birds I was just going to ask you how high up it's worth

doing so 60 feet is kind of the level it's it's worth it yeah so the first 60 feet is roughly where most birds spend their their operating hours the higher elevations are usually birds that are behaving in a way that is more navigable and in terms of open space but yeah the long and the short of it is the first 60 feet of anything is dangerous and bus shelters obviously fall into that category okay well yes that's John was saying we had put it to one of the people at the design review board one project so hopefully we'll be able to continue to to do that or have some standard handout thing I've forwarded all the links you sent to the other members of the of the Commission here so they can follow up thank

you for being here direction first reading hello everybody my name is Caleb a recent University of Michigan graduate I studied sociology and arts and ideas to be residential college I wrote a thesis about Highland Park's public art scene and murals and I finished it up back in March and it's all public information I spoke with Vinita today actually she suggested I introduce myself here because I've been doing a project on market research do you guys name thing through the tech ARB Center its funding from the National Science Foundation and it's also GATS I think partnerships all around the city but they run free entrepreneurial classes about customer acquisition and market research and as a freelance artist and as someone who left the city once I graduated and then came back and saw this tremendous 10

story mural down the street by a tree town I was amazed by the stuff that was going on in Ann Arbor and at this moment I'm really just trying to develop a good sense of the ecosystem here in the city I know there are several entities operating sometimes in conjunction with each other sometimes not so much I spoke with folks from the let's see the Downtown Development Authority from destination Ann Arbor spoken to property managers from some of the big companies down here just in the past few weeks and I'd be interested in asking some of y'all some questions particularly I believe evils mister Kofi as well and then mister sow isn't here but he would be really interesting to talk to particularly just because of his architectural background so I essentially just came here

to ask for some of your time if there's a better way to do it if we could set up a meeting or some time outside this meeting whatever you know suits your fancy I'm basically just doing gig work so I'm very free my schedule is very open and even just a few moments of your time would be very great thank you for your time okay does Vinita have your info so I could give you my email right after the meeting just remind me specifically or just give me a broad sense of what you're interested in kind of exploring yeah so um actually let's see I've been interested in figuring out sort of where the funding comes from a lot of the time because I'm kind of aware of this new legislation that came by in

the city that kind of changed the funding structure for public art projects so it appears and from my cursory research it seems that a lot of the stuff is like at least semi private private now like business owners and property managers working and I'm really just interested in figuring out you know how you guys particularly work with some of these entities so sponsorship entities even some of the street associations if you have projects working down there really my main purpose is just to figure out how all of the actors if you will to use a social science term or stakeholders to use a finance term are all working together in the field so particularly like questions involving power arts and the boxes around the city any the the stuff about the riverfront walkway that's coming

up recently that is fantastic news but I'm really not certain as to the future of the project and I haven't been able to get as much information and part of that might just be my own research but yeah that's a lot of topics I know but it's very broad sure I'm Vanina if you would share contact information yep and we can schedule appointments and perfect have coffee and stuff like that wonderful thank you guys so much okay yeah thanks for talking to you okay um looks like next if we have to have a on their public comments looks like next we have a presentation there's one right there how's everybody doing I'm Mike Pettigrew I'm the city treasurer I think a few months back Bonita had asked some questions about insurance for public art we

are currently undergoing our final stages of our annual insurance renewal our insurance renewals on February 1st there'll be a a resolution in front of Council on February 18th meeting to approve our new insurance plan and our new insurance premiums I prepared a find out coverage program update similar to the one you received back in November just to give you an idea of what's kind of going on the insurance market has experienced significant financial losses which means the market is becoming really hardened premiums are going up while coverages are going down for example just attempting to renew our current policies with our current carriers would have resulted an overall increase of premiums of over 33% and would have significantly reduced coverages for example two of our dams could have gone without property insurance have we not

gone out to to market Highland group is the name of the company that we have is our risk management consultant and our insurance broker we engaged them starting back in September to aggressively market the city's policies that engagement and that marketing effort is resulted in instead of a 33% increase I was able to save or we've been able to save 12% and where our rates are only going up 21% that's a savings of approximately 100 a hundred thousand dollars the dams will be covered and probably most exciting to this group is the changes in public art coverage the new property carrier if it's passed by council will be Zurich they have improved sub limits for fine arts coverage so just to go over where we were leading up until this point our installations are we

are covered through February twenty-ninth as part of a property insurance coverage for art that's within a thousand feet of insured locations we have a $500,000 limit and we pay the first fifty thousand dollars so fifty thousand dollar deductible art installations and a scheduled location so this building anything as a building on it is effectively a scheduled location parks locations which are mostly grass but then they have some art installations on it those are considered unscheduled up until our current policy which comes in in March first because through the work of this group you've put together a list of all of the public art installations we know about that have value across the across the city so coverage under insurance renewal effective March first if it's passed through council art installations will continue to be covered

as part of our property insurance policy but you will have a two million dollar limit and but with an amount not to exceed seven hundred and seventy five thousand dollars per item so that is our update to the current program it will still have a fifty thousand dollar deductible so we're still on the hook for the first fifty thousand that sounds like a lot of money but our overall insurance program with the city is that we're you know you'll hear the term self-insured which just basically means we set aside money in our budget and our financial plan that anything that comes under a certain threshold we will cover so cars they get in car accidents police cars unless it's a fire truck or some huge piece of machinery we budget money and set aside reserves

to cover those types of accidents that keeps our overall insurance premiums lower otherwise we would I don't say catastrophic Lee but we would have much larger insurance premiums overall so I have a really short presentation but of course I'm I'm here to answer any questions that you might have I did list my name and email address at the top so if you're not comfortable with if you have question comes up later as always please email me if there's a special project or a special art installation I think it would be really important going forward for this group and for us as a city that we install new art you believe to assign it a value capture those values as we install them and then make sure they're reported to our office to make sure we

put them on our schedule of items because the insurance companies don't like to insure things they don't know about so we have an obligation to them to keep our lists and our costs up to me so any questions thank you for the presentation it's very helpful the one project that we have had damaged and it's been problematic are these glass panels on stadium bridge are you saying they're covered because they're close to the bridge so the bridge is an interesting location that's the time that's kind of what let us into some of the conversations we've had previously the bridge in and of itself isn't a scheduled location so it's not a building so we need to list and I think we've have done that now we've list that art installation and its general location and

we provide that list hyland who provides it to the insurance companies and say hey we have this thing here it's worth this amount of money at some point they could come out or send out an underwriters out and say yep I can see that it's there and it's it's worth something to be to be insured but historically we haven't had that so we're covered under at least up until now the you know the agreed value on file with the insurance company which we didn't have and now or we're working towards that so they you know it's part of the definition of you know how much you would pay to replace something like that it's the reasonable and necessary cost to replace or repair the fine art so that's kind of a difficult question when we

get into some of these art pieces something like that's probably gotten more of a hard cost you could probably go find the invoice or find some documentation over what it cost to build it and install it and that would be easier for an insurance company to understand and and possibly value the first 50,000 though we're gonna pay out of pocket - mr. Hoopoe the replacements they have all been under $50,000 is that correct or yes so this this wouldn't have impact problems we're having for that particular art piece the way we have yeah so it's per occurrence and an occurrence so you know to use a natural disaster or something it's vandalism and they break one of them probably not going to reach $50,000 if I did five figures okay so it's kind of a

big price tag but that's also part of the insurance and the risk fund is something else you know that's I was just gonna ask how many pieces that we actually have that are valued or have a fifty thousand dollar amount I mean we have an inventory we have a list I take it that has been now I identified and yeah maybe I don't have the list with me I'd have to go back and look I believe there's probably there's one or two they're probably in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and then part of the issue is I don't think it's like a value on the canoes the canoe what do you call it I don't know what the efficient what's that the canoe fan thank you yes the canoe fan we paid less than

fifty thousand exactly so I don't know where that falls and there's some things that we don't we haven't really assigned a value to yet and I think you alluded to this earlier some some value you know is assessed to a particular item because of who created it it's perception right and then there's there's insurance and how they value things right and so one of the things the insurance company has mentioned previously through my talks with Highland it's so it's the reasonable necessary cost repairing replace and then there's the appraised value which will be determined at the time of loss so something you could consider I suppose is trying to do an appraisal a value appraisal of more of the art pieces so you would assign a value to them because I can tell you that

I know off the top of my head there's probably half a dozen or more that don't have values listed to them in that document or in that spreadsheet but the insurance company didn't have any they probably looked at it and said canoe fan it's probably under fifty thousand dollars or something I don't I'm not sure they didn't there were so many big things moving with the insurance yeah market that this you know this was a very nice benefit that we got just by moving to zerk so I'm happy with that and I'm happy that we you know we've taken the first step of putting the list together I think that let's just you know it still needs some work yeah and our focus would be on any pieces that would more than right so I

think you definitely want to do appraisals with anything that you you feel is over fifty thousand dollars if we don't already have the original paperwork that says you know I think this you know the sculpture out here outside of City Hall I forget what's inside I never go through security at the courthouse I think that that's a pretty significant right and so those things are you know if we had you know if we had an actual disaster those are the types of things that we would be looking to ensure or get some value from our insurance company and so the price that we actually paid to purchase the work would would work as the number even though it's a good starting point you know I think you you know if we could assign values to

start with and then you probably want to agree on a you know we try to do property we haven't done a full citywide property appraisal since well actually was probably twenty seventeen so there's only about three years ago but I still go through that list I go through online the the the property indexes of what various buildings value increases so I always increase those numbers so that there's a total insured value that should be reasonable with the municipal Center and order justice center in this building to increase them in value so that our total insured value with the insurance companies is is accurate but probably every ten to fifteen years we should go through and actually have a company appraised I don't know what you you know I'm not sure what the recommendation would be

for public art but it's something we should at least do once to say here's our our baseline yeah great you also have questions thank you very much all right next we have approval of minutes [Music] all right all in favor say pose great minutes approved next we have report from chair I have a very short report I wanted to bring everyone's attention to the artwork in the back of the room we have some artwork from Ruth crow who is a local artist she actually is a neighbor old West Side yeah she does really awesome encaustic work it's worth coming down and seeing she will also have a piece up in actually she'll have two pieces up and the upcoming opening at the guild of artists and artisans which I have to plug our opening coming

up next week it's Friday from 6 to 9 is our opening and and at our offices which are at 118 at North 4th Avenue which mean here on and Anne and Sophie also has a piece of that as well and it's gonna be a great show so hopefully you can come out and see us at our inaugural exhibition that's all I had to report for today now we're gonna move on to new business the primary function we had to do after our last meeting was put together as a report of our goals and what we're gonna be doing this upcoming year of our meeting and Deb and I met and put that together and that's included in your packet hopefully you've all had some time to look it over and review it and see that

it reflects our conversation and what your working groups will be looking at doing the bullets should sort of encapsulate what you were planning on doing in each of these working groups and obviously it lists all of the people involved in those working groups as well as who will be chairing that working group please let us know if missed anything if anyone wants to be added to a working group we can still do that as well so this is the time to dive into this make sure this is right before it goes to City Council did anyone there name left off of a group or and also just to reiterate this is part of our required reporting every year to City Council and it does need to go forward for their consent agenda I believe approval

so that agenda part of this is also we're including the CIP report which has not changed much there's as David let us know there are not very many projects that are workable for public art this go-around most of the projects are maintenance or evaluations research studies and things like that so they don't so there's no new projects that we're proposing through the CIP at this point it's all stuff we've already talked about but we do have an updated report that could be included with the goals piece just regarding the the youth outreach working group I don't know if it's absolutely necessary to modify our add it but the I voted sticker contest is something that we'll be trying to help spread the word about so if that is something that might be beneficial just to

let council know that we'll be assisting with kind of spreading the word on we will move it wherever you think it is best as long as it gets mentioned should be a good good time had by all yeah this year you know City Clerk's office is handling that so I'm not sure if anyone yeah they came and presented here as well okay the youth outreach group is working with on it okay helping collaborate and I just wanted to add as a teacher in the district on Monday I received an email yes maybe you've seen all the printed material it's great so yeah I went out to all the teachers grades K to 12 and I think it's really concise and and really well done I don't know if it was involved in the creation of

it but it's simple it's easy and I think they're gonna you're gonna break participation I did my plug one point I noticed in the I guess this is the draft report that we are now going to accept is that in that it says that a newly proposed policy and governance workgroup which I support so is that a part of the vote here is to create that new workgroup with those members in it yes well I just appreciate the work put into this you know I know it's it's somewhat arduous and you know appreciate that the time it you took and members of the body to put into this it is like you said required by the bylaws and the ordinance and City Charter so appreciate it it doesn't get as much play at City Council

as the time it takes to do it but you know that's not necessarily a bad thing okay sounds good well you know debate other issues and and let you do your work I do have one other thing I mean we certainly could to John's point we certainly could pull off the policy Ronan's workgroup as a separate item if we wanted if what's here is amenable in terms of the proposed committee membership etc or if somebody wants to be added to that membership I would I would encourage that we could pull it off but if it looks alright that's the way it is for right now for the purposes of moving forward then voting to accept the report will be sufficient I do not have concerns with the working group what I would like to though

say and this might be better for later but in reviewing the CIP documents there were a couple of questions that I found that I had and then I started thinking about the fact we've added new members and the CIP process and documents might be new or need some additional conversation so I'm wondering if we could schedule at a next meeting or something to have david esau perhaps walk us through it walk us through the process because I think that might be helpful for our new members and actually I know it will be helpful to me because I had questions about the documents when I when I received them mr. Hugh P can you add to this conversation at all CIP I know you know Planning Commission has approved something recently you know taking things off

the list that that were on the list so it'd be a good refresher for everybody including myself to be honest with you to be reminded it's a revolving list but I don't know if you can enlighten us in any way well these capital improvements plan the CIP is a state mandated document we prepare our CIP on a every other year cycle we every other year we open up the full plan and look at all the projects that are in the plan all the projects that are proposed and go through a rigorous ranking in ordering project to come up with the plan in the off year which is the year where and now we're in an off year the plan is only minimally opened up to accept new projects that are have come forward that are

in an immediate that would be occurring in the next year so it's we don't look out the full plan is a six-year plan so this year is what we call a refresh year or and we're only look really looking at this year's budget and also the CIP is all the city capital projects but they're not all competing against each other because there are multiple sources and funding within the city so depending on the funds for capital projects the projects may be competing within a smaller subset of all the projects within the city and then David Esau's group looks at those plans and identifies which projects would be ripe for consideration of art with them so you're looking at a much smaller subset of the whole plan and then the plan itself is started by staff

we do public engagement for the plan and it goes to the Planning Commission as a plan the Planning Commission is the body by state law that approves the CIP the first year of the CIP the year one is what is transmitted to City Council as their capital budget proposed so for the next coming year and that's what city council has authority over as the first year of the capital plan so that's probably more than a nutshell so I guess that was when we have moved to accept motion yeah so I need a motion to accept the review of goals and project report second any further discussion we have no old business well the items listed there are no that's our report finita if you could pull your microphone a little closer yeah I don't know

if anybody has any questions well I think that it's very exciting to have gotten the art into the city maintenance report this is another one of those steps that is important to be able to track the maintenance the inspections etc etc and so financial costs if there's anything you want to say about that but that's another one of these steps forward that we're taking and I just wanted to sort of call attention to that in you know at work in professionalizing our approaches to our very valuable public art holdings on behalf of the taxpayers and stakeholders in the city Green okay Olivia and I are really excited about this and and we are most certainly getting an awful lot of support from staff to help us move this through initially we go in to meetings

and not quite sure what we're asking for or how we're gonna get there but we do have an idea of what we want so what we're planning I think in the next maybe mid-february or towards the end of February is an actual staff meeting with folks who will actually go in to city works look at the work orders and get some feedback from them on what they're looking at is this enough information for them when they're looking in city works they're actually pulling up a work order that doesn't give them a description of the piece but it gives the location and we also have inputted some of the general guidelines from the artists as far as maintaining it whether it's cleaning time special type of cleaning and we've also done some attachments for those that

we've had attachments for so this meeting in the next few weeks or so getting the feedback from staff is important we wanted this to be really easy for staff to use not so cumbersome for them and as part of their regular routine and their regular maintenance so we're setting the date for April first hoping that between early spring and early summer that every piece at least has one go around from anyone have any questions about the items that are listed here yes ok so youth art month as you probably all know is a collaboration between the Ann Arbor Public Schools and the Main Street area Association and our reception will be March 8th at the out Center if anybody would like to speak I'm putting the program together now usually the mayor comes and superintendent

Swift will speak on their that presentation will happen at 1:30 and then families come and you're encouraged to stroll downtown and we've got all the great art that's displayed in the windows so yeah it's been going on for a long time it's a great collaboration between the city and between the Main Street Association and the public schools this year we're doing something a little bit different I'm actually part of Sandra's team we are we have hired to U of M students who are going to be putting temporary art installations downtown and so it's real exciting I know you know a little bit about as we're still trying to find locations for them but so you'll they have a website and will be advertising that but yeah gonna be great the reception's 1-2-3 and sun 88

I wanted to ask that whether the students you've hired up putting the school students up were they creating something themselves setting quit so it's interesting last year we did this and we created one installation where we hired an artist and we had her we could only afford to have her go into the schools and work with one group of students so we felt that really wasn't enough she went to Skyline and worked with a graphic design class so this year we decided to do a little differently we hired two student artists one is in the School of Architecture the other is in stamps school of art and what we did is we had those artists come together with all the art teachers and they presented their projects and they taught us how to do a

piece for their installation so now we're all making those pieces in our schools it's about every schools participating and then they're all going to be brought together and then the artist is going to create it so what we're looking for right now is places to install them temporarily so but they're all made out of recycled materials the idea is all the theme is thinking about the environment and all the waste that there is so one of them is a coffee cup curtain that has messages on it another when it's flowers made out of recycled materials and then when I'm working on is lanterns third grade students are making lanterns that are going to um so they so work for the coffee cups we're trying to find an inside spot for those the lanterns we are

going to make them somewhat weatherproof but they're only expected to last through March or the environment takes its toll on it and then the flower mural we're trying to find an indoor location for two just a little last March is a horrid month to put out outside I might have a location for you for one of those I just wondered if you were able to share this evening the names of the students at U of M that will be working on this and if you're not able to this evening perhaps we could go through communications to get that out to the community because I think that these kinds of partnerships and this kind of Commission work for these students is something that we should recognize and put forward yes I'd be happy to I don't

actually know their last names I know they're Beatrice and joy but what we thought was really important was that our students actually realize how artists work so they've each made their own video and explained it about themselves and they're very well done that might also be something that we could showcase yeah and I know they'd like that too any other question John regarding the report I'd be remiss if I did not reflect on the art commission when I started and the art commission now and although things like our inventory maintenance report and insurance just aren't very flashy it's extremely important the fact that this discussion that's happening as being reported in staff about public art there's a sea change from when I come on the Commission and frankly with all due respect mr. Hoopoe it's

due to one person and that's Vinita Harrison and my hats are often I think everyone recognizes that it's not easy work but it's important work and we saw it today that you know the insurance person is reporting so kudos Vanita and it is noticed thank you [Music] could I just highlight this last piece I'm here the City Council policy agenda committee was this just noting that the policy change that we put forward was was included in the packet moving forward all right I just wanted to let the Commission know that that has happened next we have reports from work groups each of the work groups are listed here in no particular order so it does anyone have a report they want to report about anything exciting going on you guys want to share I think

part of a the main new activity or change for us is just we're sad to see Deb leave our group but I definitely want to welcome this Leonard Peggy into our group as well so we'll be looking at some more new and exciting things in 2020 with a some new blood and just using the the I voted sticker contest as a way to kind of involve existing projects that the city is already doing and then get get our Commission behind it a little bit more so just for anybody that's in our audience or watching at home or it doesn't know already oh so this would be on behalf of the youth outreach committee and so just regarding that that contest it goes through March 31st earlier Peggy mentioned some of the materials that just go

over the guidelines for that and what I think is great about the way they did is there's three different categories so there's a citywide competition open to anybody who's a resident of Ann Arbor there's a kindergarten through sixth grade category and then there's a seventh grade through twelfth grade category so give us an opportunity for different representations of student work there and other people are not students but yeah looking forward to this year so thanks so much I saw one of the selfie stations downstairs I just wanted to say that it's my expectation that I will be contacting the members of the Leadership Forum to get a meeting together this month you know who you are I just wanted to report on the liaison position with the Design Review Board and I am adopting the

principle that less is sometimes more so you can read the the report all is good I mean the point is is that the report coming from the Design Review Board going to the Planning Commission and developers are including public art more and it's not that they had any aversion to it it's just not being brought up so there was an opportunity to to do that and it's very exciting and there and and and it's voluntary advice and people were very receptive how much they include it we shall see but at least it's being done thank you thank you for continuing to be our voice at those meetings all right if there are any other reports from work groups I hope encourage you all to be meeting in the next couple of months and bringing forward

some exciting work we've got a lot that we're planning on doing that is shown in our report that we just approved today so hopefully we'll see some of that action that we can report out at the next meeting it does there any other like public comments you guys want to share anything exciting going on in your life that you think is relevant to report out on I already plugged the guilt of partisan arsons Guttman gallery opening next week what day is that next week Friday 6:00 to 9:00 so I'd like to report on another exhibition which I'm going to be involved in so I don't know if you know the argos museum argos museum which is a very lovely building on west side of town on william and there are four photographers taking part in

a show called pin-up women which is actually about laundry lines and so it's a photography show and the opening will be on 27th of february from 5:30 to eight there are now Spencer things to share alright then our meeting is adjourned you
