Heat. Heat. N. Heat. Heat. Hey, hey. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Lou. Hey. Okay. Hey, Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Hey. Heat. Hey. Hey. Hey. We'll call the regular meeting to order at 5:59. Uh Allan's not here tonight, so I guess I'm going to try to do this with a lot of prayers and patience and help from my friends and y'all help me get through it. So, here we go. All right. Well, we got a guest tonight. I'll let Coach Campbell introduce Miss Mosby and her project for East. >> Okay. Uh Madison Mosby is a student at Mccuri High School and she is involved in East and she has come up with a plan for redesigning our lunchroom at the high school and she's put a lot of effort in it. So at this time I

turn it over to Miss Madison. I might not have enough people. >> Thank you. project I'm presenting today is a lunchroom redesign. The folders that I have given you, they have a detailed list of the supplies that we are going to need. I have previously worked with Miss Don to review the table arrangement and together we have reached a mutual acceptable solution that addressed the need of both staff and students. We also met with info staff Jeff Cook to discuss a proposed arrangement in place of the table. Miss Oields has also been a huge help during this project. She has helped me stay in constant contact with Jeff Cook. She has also been at the meeting with myself, Miss and Jeff Cook. Through these discussions, we were able to develop a revised plan that eliminated

several painting details while maintaining functionality and quality. As a result, we secured a new pricing structure that reduced the overall cost by nearly half in line with the recommendation provided. Some things I have noticed right now at the school with the lunch table array that we have now are things like overcrowding lines and problem seating. Sometimes depending on where your seat is at lunch, you're not able to sit down because the line is blocking it. I've noticed some spilling foods slips and falls just due to the overcrowding and congestion of the tables. There's also a lot of stress between the students and some staff about being able to sit down, get in line, and eat your food due to overcrowding, everybody being in line at once, trying to get in their tables, things like that.

People with walkers, crutches, braces, sometimes they can't get into their seat because there's not any seats because there's too many properties. With this new arrangement, this will improve flow to prevent collisions, minimize slips and falls. This will clear pathways, create a calmer environment, ensure all students can move safely. This will make fewer accidents, and this will make shorter lines, which means more eating and relaxing time. This is the pricing. So before when I first started talking to Jeff Cook at Amco, he gave me a price of $24,266. This was with table and the painting that he wanted to do on the walls. We met a little bit after that and we got rid of all the painting and just kept the tables with also painting on the tables. This got us down to $85,990. That

was about a 81.5% difference. So that was even more than half. This is the table arrangement. Now when you're looking at this, this is online. So this is not how it's going to look in the actual lunchroom. You will be able to space these tables out. But as you can see, we have longer tables that you can put alongside the walls. You have oval tables that you can put in the middle. And you also have these hot tables that can remain on the sides. These chairs that I have circled right here are chairs for walkers, braces, and things like that. These chairs can be moved to any table that can be accessible. >> I want to thank you all for listening to my presentation today. Are there any questions? >> Yes. Now, are those tables

do they fold up in the middle and they push them against the wall or they do? Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> They all all the tables do that. >> Yes, sir. If there are no more questions, I want to thank you for listening to my presentation today. I want to say I think this can benefit our school very much to give our kids more of a safe and comfortable lunch. >> Thank you. >> Well, thank y'all for coming in. >> All right. No, I'd ra >> Guess we need to open the floor for public comments. We didn't have anybody sign. Do we have anybody? Nope. So all right with that I guess we'll start with the minutes later. Can I get a motion to accept the minutes as they are? >> Motion. >> Second. >>

Motion to second. All in favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion passed. Okay. Financial reports. We'll start with the expense comparison from uh March of this year compared to last year. Uh expenses were down. uh roughly $5,000, $5,400 and revenue was up about $30,000. So that was our expenditure amount for March was $426,410 and our revenue for the month of March was $294943 or 294 and $94366. uh check registry. If you notice, we did make our third and final payment on our HVAC project for the elementary. We'll work tomorrow to start getting our partnership money back from the state and they'll send people out to make sure that we did what we said we're going to do to the elementary and then we'll we should be a quick turnaround for it. Board report. I shared that

with my board notes. Again, I left out fund 3000 due to the constructions bonds, but uh we closed March a little over 1.6 million. This year, last year, we were about 24,000 under 1.2 million. I shared the four-year comparison of our legal balance, and you can kind of see the growth in those four years, which shows the commitment to our staff members of making good choices of what our kids need. Any questions over the board report? In the building fund, we did share that from our construction bond. Uh that's our revenue that had we got from our interest and then the other one is our expenditure. >> So are you saying that? So the HVAC project was that paid out of the the bond fund, but then some of that is going to get reimbursed.

>> So will the reimbursement go into that construction fund or will it go like into the general fund? >> It'll go to the general fund. Perfect. Okay. Any questions? >> Okay. Action items. We got a list of action items. The >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Have to approve the >> Can I get a motion to approve the financials? >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? I >> I. All oppose. Motion passed. >> Okay. The first action item, we took bids on our parking lot project at the football and elementary. We received one bid of $484,990 from Hawkeye Enterprise. That's out of Newport. We're going to reopen that bidding process. We're actually starting now. Our bids will open on May 12th. See if we get any more competitive bids. But due to audit, since we

did take seal bids, my recommendation is not to accept the bid from Hawkeye Enterprise at $484 and or $484,000 and $990. >> Are we reopen? >> We'll reopen uh May the 12th at 2 o'clock. >> Quick question. So, we are we only interested right now in the football field and the elementary parking lot? >> Right now, we're we're going we're still I'm waiting to get some quotes on our drainage project at the high school, but I don't know how much that ticket booth is going to run us. And so, the first thing was the elementary and the football field and then we'll come back over to the high school. >> Okay. My only thought on that is that, you know, anytime you can offer a contractor volume, there's usually a per unit price benefit. And

so, even if I think it would be potentially beneficial for us to say these are some additional projects we are contemplating. Okay. >> And then if they >> if there's savings, >> if they say if you do the whole thing, we can do it here. >> Yeah. I just think that there's potential benefit instead of chopping it up into two. And we can caveat that look, we still this is our first phase that we're definitely interested moving forward in, >> but we're interested in seeing where you do it if we awarded that entire amount. >> We can change that wording. I just I don't want to overcommit on that just because we've got these other projects. >> Sure. Yeah. I think I think we could be transparent with not being ready to fully commit, but

let them know that there's potential for more and that may even if they think there's a carrot out there for additional project, it may allow them to be a little bit more aggressive in hopes of getting additional work. >> So, the guy that had set up shop around here that did Mark's drive, >> he did not bid, but there's there was a miscommunication somewhere along the line. He wasn't aware that >> Okay. Okay. Um it the bid was out there so they are interested in bidding. >> Okay. Good. Okay. Gotcha. >> So that would be my recommendation is not to accept that bid. >> Okay. Make a motion. >> Can I get a motion not to accept the bid? >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Uh. All right. Okay. Next a or

action item is our food service management company contract with school eats. We're currently in year four of a 5-year contract. Uh I don't know if you have questions for it. It's been good for us. Wouldn't you say, Miss Donna? >> Yes, sir. >> I mean that when we're short-handed, they send people to help. So my recommendation is to continue with them for year four. >> Motion to continue on. motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I >> Okay, next action item. We talked about moving board meetings to the second Monday of the month. I didn't know if y'all had a chance to look at that calendar. I mean, we can always change it if something comes up, but it works better for us in the finance wise if we can do it earlier. So,

my recommendation is to uh accept the schedule presented. >> Is that good with you, Mark? because you travel more than most of us. So >> Mondays are good. >> Okay. >> All right. >> With it. >> How about a motion to change to the second Monday? >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> And the last action item and I got both principles here. if you have questions about it. But this is required of the state and we can do this just in one one item. But to approve the elementary and high school improvement plans for the 26 27th school year Any questions? Can I get a motion to improve the uh school improvement plan as is? >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? I >> I >> Okay, my report.

Uh, first thing, I gave you a list of enrollment, and this was as of April the 20th. Right now, we're sitting at 501 kids, and I showed you the number of kids that we had in each grade. And you can see that we had two with no change, but we lost kids in every group. Second grade was the biggest and seventh grade was the biggest group that we've lost kids from. Facility update. talked a little bit about the bleachers for graduation. Uh they're coming in next week to pour the concrete slabs for the the steps and the wheelchair access. Takes three days to set. I don't think we'll have the finished product, but we'll have temporary wood bleachers with handrails to get us through graduation. Uh ticket booth entrance. This is just a initial look

where we'll be able to take tickets on both sides. will feed the visitors to the right and to the left and you get a chance to look at that. We will have some, you know, it'll still say Joe Hartfield, Jaguar Stadium. It'll have all those things and we'll put those up there. But that's an initial look at it. Won't be restrooms to it because we'd have to touch every restroom and make sure that we meet standards for that. So, >> in the middle, >> it's in the middle. Well, see if you're looking at the goalpost, it would be it's it's very close to where you see Joe Hartfield >> is the initial plan. >> So, the main gate, the main gate and then be right. Okay. And so, you can take from the left and

the right or just >> Yeah, left and right. >> So, would it be I mean, I'll have to look at that and I know but that I can only imagine how much that's going to cost. Well, it'll be >> and we've only been used to you, you know, one side. Would it be cheaper to somehow do one side? >> We probably could >> make it look >> I mean, we probably could. This this way it just gets flow better. >> And I get that. >> Yeah. >> But I would have to staff it differently. >> Right now, we have two people staffing anyway. >> So, there' be one on each side. >> And actually, well, I say we got two staff. We got one person at the pass gate. Sometimes we have four if we

open the visitors gate. And we did open that this past year a couple times, didn't we? >> Um, so Hawky, is it Hawky? >> So it would be like Hawk >> similar to Hawky. >> And you know, depending on who you play, like if you're playing a junior >> fence. Are you thinking about that fencing in the >> Yeah, we'll we'll do a decorative fence across to dress up the place for sure. >> Okay. But we don't know price yet. >> No, we do not. >> And I don't know, you know, I haven't been involved in all the back conversation, so if this already been discussed, you forgive me. But I just really think that we're missing an opportunity to put cleaner, nicer, better restrooms in the middle. And to your point, I know that

the the laws or the regulations uh involve touching all the bathrooms, but I think if you had adequate restroom space new in the middle, you could just completely close the other ones and say are touching them and shutting those down and we're creating this. And it not only I think leaves a better image for people visiting um it also fixes some of the student problem that you have with kids from other schools coming over to our bleachers. And >> I can get a price. I'll just you know what determines how many toilets you have is how many people you can sit. We got a big home bleacher. Like when we built I'll just be honest. When we built the one in Jacksonville it's brand new and you seen it. I mean, our women's bathroom have

and we had to by code had over 30 stalls in it. >> Yeah. >> And I mean, that's and and that's, you know, we're not that big, but I would say honestly if we built one >> Oh, I would say at least 12 to 15 on the women's side. And I can get a price quote, but I mean that's a I mean, that's a concern of mine. >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, plumbing is one of those things that once you put in the main sewer drain and the water infrastructure, the number of drops doesn't incrementally. I mean, you have to have the space, but it's not like 30 toilets costs 30 times one toilet. Um, so I still think it's worth >> We can We can look and I can try to get it.

>> Um, >> it's not going to hurt anything. get an opinion anyway. >> I mean, we can get a price on it and say, >> but I know it's going to be ungodly. I mean, I'm I'm tell you to be prepared for that. >> Yeah. >> If I if I was guessing, I'm going just be honest. I And I could be wrong, but I would say every bit 600 750 if I was if I was guessing >> of what >> to build that. >> Oh, no chance. I don't think so. >> I have We've been shot several times. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I just know when I was in Trman and we built it was in 2018 or we now we had two concession stands and this is 2018 and so we did

have to do which we had smaller visitor butcher it was $750,000. >> Yeah. >> Or just >> we were just having this conversation >> when they build it up to >> I mean I hope I'm wrong. Yeah. I mean I promise. So, what did Cross County put with their bathrooms in their concession stand? Of course, it's not too big. It's concession stand. >> He told me how much, but >> I want to say it was like 700,000 around or so. >> Well, I know when Cave City, which Cave City, you've been to Cape City, haven't you? Or no. >> And so, they've had football. Goodness gracious. Well, they've had it for I'm trying to think because I played them. So, I'm going to say they've had it for 20 years and they built a concession

stand and bathrooms there and I want to say it was $340,000 20 years ago. >> I think if we don't do something now, we look up in 10 years. >> No, I agree with that. >> You look at the state. I agree with that. >> The bathrooms are terrible now. >> No, they're awful. >> And they're not going to get better and they're not going to get cheaper. >> Yeah, they are bad. >> What I can do is I get a price on it. Yeah. >> Yeah. Let's just look at it and see. >> It won't hurt to get a quote anyway. >> When you go out and get quotes, I mean, how do you like Do you have >> Well, we got to get specs approved by the state. Yeah. >> You know, first

before we do anything and then like >> we use the engineer Jimmy Stone and so we'll get which they'll put it on bid whatever, you know, it goes in the demograph. But we'll get tons of bids on it. >> I mean, it's what we'll do. So, >> I mean, I hope I'm wrong. I mean, I'll just be honest with you. I hope I'm wrong, but >> it's one of those things. I mean, you can go out there and build it a lot cheaper, but like going through the bids and the all the specs and stuff, it's just crazy. >> They can charge. >> Yeah, we might as well turf it while we're at >> really good. >> Well, he's burst my bowl. I already made a suggestion, but he said, "Hey, tell me what that

calls like." Wow. >> Mark said, "You're done." >> No, no. I I promise you. I mean, it looks >> But, you know, it may be one of those situ. I I don't know. I'm just throwing that out there. I do think we need to pay that. I've seen I've seen people with walkers. I mean, I really I agree. It does. It does. But the bathrooms are bad out there. >> Yeah. No, >> they're better than they were because we did do something. >> They were better. They are better than what they were. >> And list of events. We got graduation of course on the 12th. We got a lot of things going on. High school's doing atlas test. And then we got 36 Atlas test next week. baseball, softball being regional tournament uh next week

at Carile hopefully going to state and so wrapping it up. Last day of school for students is the 21st and then last day for teachers is the 22nd. So it's right around the corner. All right, so my enrollment prek we have 19. um never filled that last spot which at this point or almost the end of the year. So K6 is um 294 past events we always had spring break. Sixth grade went on their field trip already. Um we had K2 atlas testing. Our math all of that is in math is pretty instant. Um within like an hour we were getting those scores back. Our ELA is taking a little bit longer because part of those are pulled for hand scoring, part of them are AI scored. Um, and so those are trickling in. Um,

hopefully we get those more and more each day. I think we were up to 56 today. Um, and then I put Donuts with grown-ups on the upcoming events. That was actually on Friday, but that went really, really well. Um, 36 Atlas testing is next week for us. So, Monday through Thursday on that. And then, of course, we've got field trips coming up, field day, our graduations, and everything. And we're pretty pretty busy till the end of the year. So, um, as we're finishing up, we're looking at test scores. I'm hoping that we'll be able to look kind of where we're at, um, overall before we let out for summer. Um, good thing about the new Atlas system, we do get those scores back. And so, especially looking at the bottom 25% because those are the

ones that count twice for our scores. And so, um, kind of already being able to look at who they are before we go into next year, we can already kind of start planning our interventions and things like that. Um, we're going to be switching to Youth Fly for our kindergarten through 2 grade um, ELA curriculum. Um, we signed up to be part of a research study through the department of ed and so they're going to be providing the training and the manuals and all that for us. And so very excited about that. Everything I've read and um, heard about UFly is that it's fantastic. Um, there's a lot of parent resources. Everything is actually free and like downloadable online for parents. They can look at the exact stories that are being read, the PowerPoints, everything.

teachers are going over in class. And so I'm hoping that that'll help us K2. And then we're switching third grade to Wonders, which is the same curriculum that 46 uses right now. And I've been really impressed with that and so have the teachers. So hopeful that that'll that'll continue to strengthen our ELA. As far as behaviors, um over the past month had 39 referrals. Um disrespect, defiance, and physical aggression were my top ones. Um ISS was assigned um in 20 of those, OSS in nine, and then loss of privileges in seven. Um, what about this incoming kindergarten group? How many do we have enrolled already? >> I believe we enrolled 27 or 28 um so far and I'm going to do another registration day that last week of school after kindergarten graduation to try to

get some more in because there's some that we know of that just have not registered yet. Um, and then of course we're going to have some retained as well. So, but >> the past two years we've had close to 50 kindergarteners. So, I don't know if this is just a really small class or if they just haven't shown up yet, but hopefully they just haven't shown up. >> Registration yet. >> Okay. >> Kindergarteners, >> thank you. >> Uh, high school enrollment was when I did this was 207. Uh, sports wise, baseball and softball are wrapping it up. Uh, regionals next week. Uh, regionals starts next Thursday. Um, and I want to say I think both of our teams right now, which I know the boys are playing at Hazen today, but I think they both

are uh setting it second. I think boys and girls, so they should be in the regional tournament next Thursday. And I believe the region is at Carile State. The next week will be at Palestine. Um, also seniors um have already taken their test and they're gone. And like coach mentioned graduation is May the 12th and I believe back in LAR is the 10th the Sunday before that I believe um semester test for high school will be May and that is wrong over there. I believe it's 20 and 21 and then the makeup test will be the last school day which is Friday the 22nd. Clubwise, FFA had their state competition April the 18th to the 20th and Miss Welch had her East Blood drive April the 14th and that's always big for her. Also, first

time she has gotten a fishing derby together. I believe it was last Saturday. Um, and I think a lot of kids enjoyed that. Uh, she gave away some raffle drawings and stuff, so I think a lot of kids caught fish. I don't know if y'all had anybody involved in that, but I heard it was great. We also had our color run as Miss Quanabomb puts that on. Uh we had our club pictures made. We've had our prom. Uh class favorites, class officers, who's who. All of those pictures have been taken. So, kind of the end of the year stuff winding down. Um this summer our teachers, different departments will get together and try to prepare a year at a glance uh process to go with our JAG time to get our RTI remediation, all of

that the best we can make that. We try to improve on that every year. Um discipline wise, those have changed. We've got three phones this month and we've had two now that have been out of school um suspension. That's all we have. All right. Any questions? >> All right. This ends the regular meeting. We'll go into executive session at 6:29. Three. Ding. Don't. Okay, heat. Oh, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. N. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Heat. Heat. Here we go. Okay. Oh. Oh, hey. Heat. Heat. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Heat. Heat. N. Heat. Heat. Heat. come out of executive session at 6:53 with no action taken. Uh and now we'll move on to personnel. And

uh I need a motion uh for the approval of the classified employees for the 2627 school year school year as presented. >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> All right. Motion passed. And then I need a motion to accept the resignation or retirement uh letter from Miss Carrie Bowling. Motion >> second. >> All in favor? I >> motion passed. This uh journs our meeting for the night. >> Do what? Journ at 654.
