001let's call the meeting to order I'd like to call to order the June 12 29 teen meeting of the Design Review Board I am Tamara burns chairperson of the Design Review Board and we have a very short agenda today including welcoming a new member of the board so to start with we need to approve the agenda so can I get a motion to approve the agenda so work okay any changes all right Genda is approved minutes may I have a motion to approve the minutes so it's now open for discussion of any corrections to the minutes all right all those in favor aye minutes are approved moving right along we have a two letters for approval the first one is the recommendation letter for 545 South Main Street may I have a motion to approve
002that recommendation letter so I'll support but we need discussion it's now open for discussion mr. Cooper made a suggestion as I said is you know they mentioned that they had haven't really resolved their similar managed conditions which could have a big impact on the site and we really focused on the site is an important aspect of the project so I was just suggesting that when they work their stormwater management plan out with the city they come back to us so I sent a written comments but either way I can also go back to the tape the recording but out we can I can add an eighth to the draft letter so does what most projects that we have looked at have been further along in that regard and so I guess I'm surprised that they
003came to us twice and that they don't have anything from engineering as to how they're supposed to handle their store I think it's a problem because I believe they're in the flood there the floodplain and it's a very high water table there right so you know underground detention in there whatever it's not it's not gonna be possible but what-what is gonna be necessary you had some wording they put in as a suggestion to email this morning but it's not in the letter that we're approving today right correct it's not a suggestion in the email it doesn't we don't really have to make that change so do we table we just would have to read the I just added as a comment that said when you resolve your stormwater issues which will likely impact your site
004suggestion come back yeah so the board could either postpone approval and wait for that change or you can approve it subject to that additional language let me just pose what if what if they come back but if they solve it was something that doesn't in any significant way change the site plan that we saw I think it's unlikely but yeah rather than have them go through one more shadow hoops and call me bus that would be if there's some discretion the staff to say you really can't see what this did it was weather isn't it open how do you are gonna solve this the storm already attention and I assume they have to do it some however I guess that theoretically you can pay into paid the city to do what some places certify so
005technically they don't have to come back to us regardless the all correct I I feel that it could be written so that if the stormwater management plan will change the design plan or the board requests that you return with your revised design plan and they are not required to but it has the openness of saying if you're if you solve it in a way that doesn't change the plan where it's okay and also it's a request they can still they can wipe it on its flip it on its end and then still say thank you but no that's acceptable to me any other changes are okay can we get a motion to approve the letter for 545 South Main Street recommendation letter is approved now we have the recommendation letter for 1100 South University Avenue
006can we get a motion to approve motion to approve okay it's now open for discussion any change or sorry it is now open for discussion will this come back to us it's been twice I don't think so I can't I can't guarantee either way I don't think so because one of the things that we say in item 5 is to continue to explore designs for an exceptional impressive and noteworthy northwest corner really leave that up to Planning Commission to decide what that is I don't know they were it was clear with our input they weren't going to make any significant changes but just the response that they had so I think my opinion is it moves on to planning and see if planning can say you really need to do something more significant with that
007because it they did a minor tweaks I'm saying and it still sits this corner yeah standard corner yeah there's somewhere that it can be we don't know we have resisted including mandatory compliance one of the few times I sure nice is they did an exception I don't I mean I don't know if we there's any stronger wording and we want to add that's about all we can do you say that such as a chandelier or clock it wasn't there like at the last meeting right so I disappointed that they didn't come back with something I was really hoping that you would have well what we were trying to do was not solve the problem for the right exactly but we basically told them that we we know what we want we can't tell you what
008that is but that isn't it and who was it Sean yeah yeah he said he'd go back to his team and talk about it but we're not gonna see it again so I mean I guess continue to explore is about all we can say wait to two meetings ago we had some very specific like put a piece of sculpture there know some features something that would draw your eye vocally he seemed to make it pretty clear in that second meeting that he was not the decider unless you want to change that language to make it stronger then the board was disappointed to find that they haven't made any major changes to the class well it does go on to say the northwest corner of the building would be one of the most prominent most viewed

010as a county planning director New York State a very small County for several years done an extensive writing most recently in planning magazine working as an independent let's get projects and I understand you had an orientation with Alexis earlier before the meeting yeah it's great thank you I don't know where this fits in the agenda but seems like a good time to talk about it because we do not have any new projects for next month so we have to decide whether we want to meet or not and I think I may be out of town I would pass the deadline for submitting the deadline was at noon and there were no project submitted I also hadn't had I haven't had any questions enquiries so I wasn't expecting anything either but it's now confirmed that there
