not waiting the whole time because i know that the work study will go quite long well here's um i personally disagree with that because we've got a whole group of parents out here that are here to celebrate their kids and i i personally would rather see call to the public after our celebrations i respectfully disagree with that i think those that are going to call the public need to have time before so they're not waiting and getting angrier as they're waiting as a respect to our community i um i'll also make the comment that whenever you go to the call the public they get a maximum of three minutes most people take one or two minutes i would like to say a member anderson said respect that the people come to call the public and
have them come first if they want to stay for the rest of stuff that's okay in fact i would encourage you to stay for the rest of the meeting so is that a second mr downey um so i i'll put forward a proposal that we move on item six to before item five so that's a second to my motion yeah okay we have a motion in a second lisa robert downey aye tori anderson aye jim jordan anne-marie aye ben owens nay all right we'll move item six call to the public uh between four and five all right on to item two superintendents report dr lopman thank you mr owens it's wonderful to see uh so many people here tonight uh hopefully um i know so many of you are here for great reasons and um

a school setting has proved to be quite trying on parents staff and students so i applaud those that are doing their best to be respectful and understand that times are tough and for kids it becomes very emotionally insecure so those parents who are there to support their students thank you because it shows in our schools staff and administration i'm proud of you i know that we're i'm just excited that we're all back in school in person again even with all of the trials and uncertainty of the day-to-day issues but thank you it was it was a pleasure to be able to start touring schools in person again and i look forward to getting out to all the schools in the next couple months so the other thing um it was a pleasure to talk to
the ed rising class at the high school mrs nor and i had a a great time fielding questions it was interesting things that i hadn't even thought about as uh you know why did you run well because i care about my community so it was it was quite interesting and i just love their passion and the fact that they're actually looking at education as a future career because we really are growing from within and i find that exciting so thank you for inviting me i look forward to be invited to other classes teachers parents principals let us know we're always happy to go and visit classrooms and do as much as we can in the schools because that's how we understand what's going on on a day-to-day basis so thank you for inviting me i
know they're all over there i do have my t-shirt it's washed ready to go so thank you i appreciate that so that was a really fun time and that's probably one of the best things i get to do as a board member is to be able to spend time with the students and the staff i do also want to thank i was part of the maricopa elementary school when we loaded up all the food for the our women and children's shelter for those of you that don't know i do serve on the against abuse incorporated domestic violence board of directors i have been on that board for about 17 plus years so it's my pleasure to be able to share the impact that our community has on our families that are in need and so
to see it took about four tahoe size vehicles to get all of the food from mes over to our shelter so it obviously moved me to tears it always does because we have a community that is absolutely incredible and i am so blessed to be a part of this community and to be able to share our passions and come together so thank you as this christmas holiday approaches and we won't see you again until january i hope that all of your families have a safe holiday safe travels if you travel but a definite love and shout out to those who have helped by adopting our maricopa shelter families for the christmas season and it's it's been a pleasure to serve you this past year and i look forward to 2022. so thank you all right

well that's what we want to know because that's why we're here as for those kids and especially see them going from kindergarten to high school that's that's important to us and uh why we're here to provide the best of education that we can and i just want all the parents to know that that's our goal and i i'm excited to brag about our school whenever i go so that's that's my report very good thank you mr jordan miss noor thank you president owens um just a couple things to report i've been fortunate to attend quite a few school functions since we last met i've been to some of the high school soccer games the desert wind middle school national junior honor society induction ceremony which was super impressive and they had over 160 kids that

in the system my son graduated 909 from maricopa high school state qualifier state placer and wrestling thank you very much anyway um the there's an elephant in these classrooms and it's the bullying i don't know if you are aware there are videos that children are taking on campus that children are afraid to go to school they are videoing fights they actually have fight clubs at the school and the the videos have been discovered by parents and they are appalling i myself lost it um it's happening in classrooms i know of a teacher who walked out in the middle of class and said i'm done the bullying has gotten to the point where children who are not bullies are bullying so they don't get bullied and it is happening not once a week not every day
it's happening every day four and five times a day there is a video of a child sitting on a bench on one of your campuses and a kid walks up to him and just starts punching him this is not uncommon the kids in the schools are afraid to go to school the number one priority you guys have is the safety of children education is second i'm not saying education isn't important but parents are scared the children are scared to go to school and this is not something that we need to have a meeting about this is something that needs to be taken care of immediately as in tomorrow morning children are afraid to go to school and that breaks my heart there is a big elephant in the room and it's these fights and it's
not bullying like what we had they are videoing them i saw a video of a girl jump from her seat jump on a kid in the classroom the video camera was already out they're pre-planned i don't know if you're aware of these videos but i would be more than happy to show you where they are there is a huge elephant in this room and the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time and we have got to do something about this this can no longer happen and i mean tomorrow i'm looking very forward to you finding out what's going on and having this taken care of children are afraid to go to school your schools they are afraid to go and that's not right does everyone agree that's not right this
is something that needs to be immediately addressed thank you all times all right thank you next we have stephanie mueller hi sorry i'm like super nervous um i'm stephanie mueller my address is 44039 west maricopa avenue you ready talking i just want to start by saying i'm not asking you to change your beliefs i'm not asking you to accept mine i'm asking that we advocate for all children from all backgrounds from all lifestyles and all beliefs races genders religions doesn't matter children who are different from you don't hurt you they're just trying to get an education and our kids deserve safety a transgender child in this system and this child is endured documented beatings hate speech in our schools his siblings also endured horrific things just trying to protect him instead of focusing on his
education my child has even had his life threatened on the school bus by transphobic students and those students have been allowed to attend school the next day and continue harassing my child every day my child gets called slurs recently my child asked a teacher to stop calling them she and the teacher respond with no you're a disgusting animal this teacher said this to my child on thursday on friday i had to get my kids off the bus because children were harassing them and throwing clay at the bus driver's window so they couldn't see and they had to turn around and go back to the school when i got into the school to talk to the principal a child tried to attack my child right there in the lobby in front of the principal and didn't
care um i found those videos my children are in those videos being harmed um one of them was on the bus where there's actual audio and video and the principal knew about it and discussed it with my son but did not notify me they were serious and my son was really hurt in those videos and he was scared to tell me because he doesn't want to be removed from the school because he's scared he's going to lose his friends because he knows the decision i want to make right now um i just want to talk about how lgbt you know what lgbtq children are vulnerable they have a very high rate of suicide anxiety and depression and the laws in this state protect them and they are not protected right now my children have been
home all week because my children are scared they're going to get beat every time they go to school they're called slurs they're constantly harassed and um these videos are just enough for me i my children should not have to go to a war zone every day just to get an education i'm absolutely exhausted i've been dealing with this for three years and i'm just so tired and i need help thank you all right thank you next is at michael good evening president owens superintendent logan and rest of the board i'm here to speak on the naming of the new high school yes the governing board has the obligation to finalize the name of the additional high school however why would the governing board question the synergy of a naming committee consisting of influential citizens elected
representatives of the american native american community and three members of city council this distinguished committee shifted to the information determined a historically unique name and we would be hard put to achieve another committee with this collection of individuals i have researched the names of public high schools in arizona so i've come prepared i learned a long time ago you don't go into combat without your bullets i have researched names and found that none in friends or which diminished from the historically unique names recommended by the naming committee to the governing board it has been my experience serving on boards committees and city councils when you're concerned about getting it right to paraphrase one member of the governing board usually the thinking of a citizen's committee representing we the people will be more consistently correct than
spurries for some members of the governing board to cross-examine this collective intelligence of this citizen's group that was sanctioned to designate the name choices is curious at least additionally the introduction of additional information by a member of the governing board involving an external individual conversation property name a named adjustment versus on analysis paralysis the name committee's agenda permitted for space open to the public and personal opinions and opinions should have been presented for consideration with the naming committee at that time in life there are consequences for decisions you don't make and likewise there are consequences for decisions you do make by kicking a can down the road last meeting the board's reluctance to decide on the recommended name you have opened a pandora's box as i've noticed on that on different uh social medias i
have no dog in this hunt naming of the additional high school in maricopa thankfully a prominent citizens committee made a knowledgeable endorsement which should have received a vote at the prior meeting last month in this instance it's time to dispense with subplurious super superfluous influences and respect the conclusion of the naming committee that represented our school district one of those members is here and i've had some conversations with him they were here last month and he didn't do it all right thank you fair to them thank you mr michael if you wish to address the board further you can come back at the next meeting and next we have will sanchez going once going twice all right uh moving on to item number five work study and first item is progress update on high school
number two dr lopman thank you president owens we have our entire team here this evening mr mark rafferty from fmg tim goyet from chase building group and vivi carbino from orca winslow architects they're going to do our review and our look ahead good evening president owens members of the board dr loebman thank you i also wanted to just point out because i'm not sure it was clear the pie sponsors yeah in addition to handing out pies they design and build schools yeah i've been giving all the updates here for the past several months as if i would had something to do with that but tonight i thought because it's the end of the year we're gonna recap everything that's happened this year it would be a good opportunity to bring uh the people that actually
do the work on the project so we're gonna start out tonight that's all i have to say i'm not going to go through the calendar we'll do that in january tonight i'm going to start out by introducing tim goyet who's going to give you our monthly look ahead and have a small slideshow thank you good evening president owens distinguished members of the board dr lopman uh i want to give you a quick update um this is a gantt chart we're going to go through this really quick it gives you uh the uh november update i think they're these are all the activities for everything that's going on on on the project i think we even have an activity for pies right before thanksgiving there um if you go to the next slide um this is
uh you see building c that's the classroom building that's a 90 000 square foot classroom building huge classroom space beautiful our great architects designed it and what you can see is all those activities are talking about structure interiors a lot of walls going in a lot of plumbing there is so much action going on on that site i i would invite you guys to come out and schedule something to come view the site because it's just amazing we had our pre-gym party and i i gotta tell you the next day it was i mean it was probably 10 times as many people there it was just it was a lot of work um next slide and this is uh we put christmas up there uh we actually do a lot of work during the christmas
holiday and you can see building g g is progressing very well uh the gym uh masonry is going up quickly and we're getting ready to start framing the ceilings if you could go to the next slide and this says a lot more the picture says a thousand words you can see the outlines of all the buildings there and kids uh when you get into the workplace you can have a laser pointer and so i'm gonna grab my label and point to some things so this is building c the classroom building that i just talked about that was 90 000 square feet this is the gym and classroom cafeteria space and you see all this brown that's us doing dirt work getting ready for the new student services building this north side is the admin section
of it and one really huge strategy when we're building these schools is to is to get the parking lot done right before christmas so we're getting ready to pave in this month of december and you can also see in this slide that there's a lot of dirt work going on along murphy road next slide this just shows even more dirt work you can see some of the curbing and sidewalks going in and all of our parking next slide and this just gives you a little better action shot of some of the structure going in on building c more curb and gutter going in uh dirt work you could see the track the great new tract starting to take shape on the west side of the site next slide and that's it any questions all right
thank you so much thank you [Applause] good evening president owens uh members of the board dr glenman thank you so much for letting us present tonight an update on the exciting uh continuation of maricopa high school number two phase two b that we're calling include student commons field house and sport deals next slide please oh there we go well let's go back to the site and it's basically an overall and it's identifying basically what is being currently constructed you can see at the top portion over here that's building g that tim mentioned down here as a classroom building uh the earth the uh earth work that is being [Music] worked on right now is building a which is your administration and face to be is basically the continuation of this uh particular building which is
the student commons it will have your lecture hall the uh stage type uh scenario uh media center and collaboration spaces i'm sorry that for some reason it was showing last night when we ran through this this particular building as you can see in the blue this is what we got permitted recently and the continuation is the student commons on this side we have the platform space the stage type seating the learning stair this is a really cool space if our students that are here tonight can google what a learning center looks like you'll have the opportunity to do an open learning environment here have community gatherings or events and on the back we have the media center so this will be a two-story building that is a continuation of your administration so your front face
will be over here and it'll allow you to connect into this building on the second floor we have collaboration spaces on the north and south side and in the middle we have the career center next slide please oh well we have elevations to show for each building uh possibly the um next slide we can talk about the field house which is the slide five uh part of the phase to be will to prepare for a field house that will be on the north portion of the sport fields it will have uh locker rooms uh storage for football and concession stands and with restrooms anything that is over here is being planned out basically for future growth it will have weight room the film study and additional locker rooms with a visitor's concession stand next slide
and it's probably not going to show well the most exciting part of this presentation is looking at what really the building is starting to look like finally we are able to see um the whole campus and itself back here that tall building there that is what is being constructed right now that is the cafeteria building over here in this white with the canopy that is student services your administration this here is a classroom building that is being constructed as part of base uh one so what is going on with this building is basically going to connect into phase one that was planned for day one when we developed the master plan so students will be able to travel from the classroom building into the media center and to the collaboration spaces so this is just
south side again this is a really nice view of what the building is looking like we're also planning on having an outdoor amphitheater the stage that is inside this particular building we're planning on having an opening over here so you have the ability to present indoor and outdoors next slide please this is the other side basically this is the amphitheater that i was just talking about it's a really nice space for any event school event community events uh performances uh just like the one that you guys have tonight this will give you that opportunity uh over here this is where the students will be uh dropped off from this bus this is the bus loop that is being constructed as a part of phase one so students will be able to come and go around

also impressive i mean i'm new to school boards under the school system and whenever i came back on board in february really i wasn't sure what i was getting myself into but i'll tell the people in the public this is a complex business i i dealt with honeywell international and a lot of international projects and things like large scale projects and i can tell you this is more complicated people the government the color of money and all the issues it is extremely complicated business and i don't think without being involved even at my level you don't appreciate what goes on so thank you superintendent thank you to your staff thank you to the principals and teachers that make it happen and the support staff the support people come along and give and help out and
i'm absolutely confident that this is going to become a destination school district not only for staff but also for students so thank you well i just want to say thank you this group of students put on this outstanding performance i mean and showing us that we are making huge progress you are in progress that's that's cool uh if you want that that's being cool doing doing this kind of thing i'm proud of you so uh be congratulated and uh thank you for for putting us on awesome yeah thank you students it's been uh it's so easy um to get wrapped up in the in the business of what goes on and you know having having our our students here uh is great really is and uh kind of a uh you know a nice reminder
of why we're my room right so thank you for uh for that they waited a long time all right i don't know why everybody's leaving now we're getting into the fun part of the meeting all right we're on two item seven consent agenda board motion to approve second we have a motion in a second lisa i tore jim jordan oh hi andrew consent to agenda approved on to item eight a discussion on possible approval of the personnel schedule mr peck thank you president owens members of the government board dr lohman you have the personnel schedule in front of you tonight we've discussed this a couple high points i just want to point out uh we just are thrilled the opportunity to look at our substitute rates and uh suggest that the board approved us moving
those uh those up we're cautiously optimistic it's going to make a huge impact upon the substitute interest in the district so we'll be impacting not only external subsidies coming into the classroom but also in house substitutes as well um one thing i do want to make clear any of those substitute rates no beginning teacher with a bachelor's degree will be anywhere close to that rate uh closer to a 300 a day per dam uh top payment would be 210 a day for a retired musd teacher once again we're hoping this helps to address a real issue that we've seen for the last semester and we think this is a unfortunately reactive uh step we're still excited about seeing what the possibilities could be of getting this done so asking for if you have any questions
i'll answer them at this point in time president owens i have a couple questions um two things mr bucket so how does this work when our elementary teachers have to split up a classroom and so now you've got four teachers that are have you know four or five students from from a class how does that work for their sub rate pay thank you member uh anderson so if we're looking at a specific grade level say a third grade classroom that has a three-grade grade level that has four teachers if a teacher is out and they end up splitting up those students from when that teacher who's absent the three additional three teachers that would have taken that accessory level will split 175 for that day's overload period okay so it it it'll even out basically
i mean they're not going to get paid any less than what a sub would get okay and then my second question is i know that when i was teaching there were times when our librarians or even sometimes one of the secretaries from the front office or somebody that was a a classified staff member actually saw you know or over looked at a club stepped into the classroom so that there was adult supervision for that period how does that work for them will they get the sub rate even though they are a classified staff member and not a certified staff member and and if not then maybe we shouldn't be having them watch classrooms thank you member anderson it's a complicated issue we have some practices going on that we're evaluating and okay we're being compliant
with the rules that are tied to title one schools and so we are addressing that particular issue um and again we'll make sure that the money really is supposed to be designated solely towards certified staff members and so we'll have to make sure that obviously that we're addressing the issue within the classified staff in a classroom but again um we will abide by the law okay how we can do that but again if we have a class like staff member that has a certificate and they're you know they they're able to go into the classroom but that certification is critical for them to be able to be in that support or not support role in that teacher of record role as they go in the classroom okay so can we look at that because i
know in our middle schools and our high schools the librarians some of them and some of the other uh media staff who are not do not have sub certificates have been watching classrooms so if that's the practice then i think that they should also get the subpay if they have to watch a class for two periods or whatever or one period or whatever that is so can we look into that and if because i know we've been doing it so can we stop doing it unless we're going to pay it we are looking into that okay we speak okay thank you thanks those are my questions thank you i really thank you for trying to stay way above above and ahead of this this each issue of teachers and substitutes uh it's got to be
one of the uh trying times of of uh school administration right now and i appreciate the efforts that you and your staff are doing so thank you sir appreciate that yes if there's no other comments i'll make a motion we approve the hr schedule as presented second we have a motion in a second lisa robert honey aye tori anderson aye jim jordan aye aye aye ben owens hi personal schedule is approved thank you mr beckett all right item eight b discussion and possible approval of first reading of updated policy jlcp immunization of students smith lauer i'm hoping my voice holds out um this policy is not about changing immunizations but it's about the semantics of students not being suspended from school because they don't have the proper immunizations they won't be allowed to attend but
they will not be considered suspended because that does cause that is a disciplinary action so the policy currently reads suspense from school we're asking that the board approved that they will not be allowed to attend school unless they either have a waiver or in the process of getting their immunizations or have their immunizations any questions and this is just a word change correct it is just this semantic change yes i'll go ahead and this does apply to all students across the board right all students yes okay and this is our own specific change this isn't a change that's been brought down by the state or the arizona school board not something that the state is requiring it is basically we want to mark these students in attendance um if we mark them as suspended that
could cause disciplinary action and will make our district look like we're suspending students and have more behavior problems so it's a way to exclude them without suspending so it would be an unexcused abstinence the change will make it an unexcused absence versus a suspension correct okay motion to approve what's up we have a motion in a second lisa robert downey aye tori anderson aye jim jordan aye aye aye ben owens hi thank you first reading is approved thank you all right on to item 8c discussion possible approval of superintendents high school naming committee recommendation for high school number two dr lopin thank you president owens i will um just remind the board that this came before you in november after a committee gathered to gain consensus around values that they wanted the name of the
high school to represent and they came up with three final recommendations from that process pecan grove vehicle and sonoran sunrise as a observer of the process and and seeing the the conversation take place um the administrative recommendation from that process is um to uh present to the board the name sonoran sunrise for your consideration uh discussion and approval thank you mr owens thank you dr lopin i know you know last month we we kind of talked about this and and uh hashed it out a little bit it was uh i didn't feel that we were going to come to consensus uh that evening um so uh it's back here this evening uh something we got to do here tonight so thanks yeah i before we well i just want to make some points about the
some of the discussion that's been taken place or presented about the process and the in the board's role um and i think it's important for everybody to know because when we presented to the ed rising class mrs anderson and i even the teacher of that class didn't understand that we can't as a board talk about the issues that we are going to consider at this dios um outside of this meeting it's called open meeting laws and it's for transparency and and i think it serves a purpose and i think it's great but i can't have conversations with mr owens and mr jordan about the name of the high school unless i'm sitting at this dice and so while it was suggested that we were kicking the can down the road last month i do think
that it's important that the community recognizes that i this is the only opportunity we have to discuss these as a full board and if it takes two meetings it's because we want to understand what the other board members are coming from go home consider that you know and come back and make a decision and and so i i do not appreciate the kicking the can down the road uh comment because i you know this is this is how the process works and this is when the only time we can talk about things and with a huge huge huge decision like the name of a high school that's going to live on forever i mean for a long time and at the end of the day it's not the naming committee and it's not dr lopman
who when someone says well who knew what who picked that name it's the governing board the five of us up here who people will look to and say they picked that and so to take two meetings to make that decision as a board i do not think is irresponsible at all and i just felt that it was important for the community to understand the dynamics about how we can discuss items that are presented before us um in terms of the committee i do appreciate all of their work um and i appreciate uh the time and effort they put in and i think they did um you know present some really great ideas uh for the name of the new high school uh besides vehicle and pecan grove though um i think i guess those would
be the ones that would be historically unique because it was a pecan grove or and because of equal wash um but i do appreciate that perspective of the historically unique names but i still today have the same preference as i did last month in that i like the continuity of maricopa wells to maricopa high and desert wind to a desert sunrise high school and so that i still you know would like that name to be considered by the board tonight if there's not any more discussion i'll make a motion i have a discussion sure so um i i guess i will respectfully disagree um this is a community school this is our maricopa community who's going to be here much longer than we are going to be board members and i think that the process
itself had great input not only from teachers and students and staff everybody was able to participate in the survey online even we as board members could have put in names online we as board members had several committee members which we recommended for this committee which we could have had a conversation with them as they served on the committee for a day i respect what the community has to say and this is a big decision and i would like to see it fall in the community and not be a board member step step over that whole process i think it's disrespectful i think that we're going to have a hard time having other people serve on committees when we don't take their suggestions and respect that process so i i think the only names we should
be considering are the three that were presented and of those the thing with with pecan groves there's going to be a future development named pecan groves so it has been suggested from city leaders that maybe we don't choose that because it will be a future site of a development so you know that leaves v cole and sonoran sunrise there is significant meaning in the sonoran sunrise as far as our native american culture our hispanic culture and obviously the school overlooks the sunrise through the mountains um there are many schools across the valley that already have desert as their pre-name and i just would like to see us stick out i'd like to see us be one of a kind and be the jewel in the desert and so i i think that it is extremely
again disappointing and disrespectful of this board to not consider what our community has said you know the mayor was there city council was there and i think that for us to supersede um is is not right and you know i think sonoran sunrise which is dr lopman's recommendation it was the committee's recommendation as one of them um so i just i would urge this board to respect our community and let the community choose this name and not supersede that um and i know we received several emails from different community members and i i appreciate that but i would be very disappointed in in this board if we uh disregarded the time and the expertise that our committee put in on this so i i just i i can't accept anything outside of those three choices
and i i appreciate your comments um i don't see it is disrespectful um the in fact the community was invited to participate in an online survey and 56.61 of them didn't like any of the names so if we're going to consider the community we should go back to the drawing board i mean i'm no disrespect but that that's an actual community survey that was done in the city of maricopa and i don't feel like taking a portion of a name that was suggested from the committee is disrespecting the process of the committee and in fact the i had um as you mentioned uh suggested a community member to participate in the committee he did so and when he was done he said we gave you three names take them or leave them or take some
you know uh bits and pieces of them good luck and so that's what he said and so uh i just i don't i think possibly if we just disregarded everything they all of the work they did like the community wants us to and go back to the drawing board and find a new name um i could see that as being problematic but i think taking a portion of the name one of the names they suggested and making a little bit of an edit so that it makes our middle school and our high schools cohesive i just don't see that as disrespectful to the committee and i just feel the need to go on record about that so ellen i want to say that um thank you member anderson for your comments on the committee i
actually agree with a lot of what you said in fact i think you stole my notes around respecting the process and their input but its recommendations um what gets me is i i i think sonoran's fine um i see it more but for me personally uh something for the future we know we're going to be doing another middle school we know we're going to be probably doing another high school within the next decade and i like the idea of the center to use the word synergy i like the maricopa whales going to maricopa high school i like desert winds going to desert sunrise high school and sonoran something middle school going to sonoran something high school um so that's my bias it's not that i don't agree with what the committee came up with i
i i like the sunrise i like the concept of sunrise i just what is in my mind is the i say synergy the cohesion the flow that desert winds will feed you'll feed this new high school so it should reflect the desert and that that's why i would say that i am standing towards something like desert sunrise high school i went to high school in winslow principal mcnamee is has been active there before and uh there was one junior high in school and they were the mighty bulldogs and they all knew that they were going to go to winslow high school and they were going to be senior bulldogs there and there was i think there was great pride in the continuity that those that that brings maricopa wells people i can't students know they're
going to go to mhs and i think i'm in favor of the continuity um because we are going to have different schools someday and somebody a school board is going to have to name them and and they can sure pick the sonoran part but um i favor the the desert um sunrise they really got the sunrise right folks let's let's admit it that's a a great concept of of uh a new day new possibilities i mean that's just we're given a new day to it's like a second chance so that's that's the really great part that i got from what the committee did the sunrise who would have thought that except somebody was brilliant you know so but i favor the continuity of of the day the desert uh desert sunrise that speaks for us
now it's a good thing that most anywhere we go we have some mountains that we can see in arizona that's one of the great things of arizona that i love some people like flatland i love mountains and but i'm i'm getting off track but but anyway so i favor the the continuity that that that uh name breaks um there's something about the name will have to stick for a long time does anybody know of any school that ever changed their name i've never heard of any of them there's a few of them are they well good luck it's like like that committee member said good luck you know if you do one thing it's great for some people and if you don't it's not great for some people so but look to the future that's
what we're trying to do and that's my input so as we consider this board the the one thing that i think is relevant to to the conversation as well is that the boundaries between the the middle schools and the high schools for what we will see next year they're not the same well they're almost exactly the same except cobblestone they're not the same well my point stands they are not it's the same so you know i guess you can take that however you know into whatever you know uh you want but there yes there is some continuity there but it's not it's not 100 so when we get student choice anyway yeah open enrollment you're gonna you're gonna have uh some wanna go somewhere else yeah but i i would like to make a motion
that we name high school number two desert sunrise high school high second we have a motion in a second lisa robert downey aye tori anderson nay jim jordan hi anne marie norr aye ben owens nay all right high school number two name shall be desert sunrise all right very good we are on to item 8d approved to adjourn to executive session pursuant to ars 38-431.03 a1 for the discussion and consideration of superintendent's evaluation so moved second we have a motion in a second lisa robert downey aye tori anderson aye jim jordan aye aye-marie aye ben owens hi it is 8 23 pm and we are adjourned from general session you
