Check. >> Test one, two. Test one, two. Check. Check. Check. Audio. Check. Check. Are we good over there? Everybody good up here? Hello everyone. Thanks for joining us. Today is Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, and this is the regular meeting of the Litfield Elementary School District governing board. I hereby call this meeting to order. The first item on our agenda will be the pledge of allegiance. If you could please stand and join us. Thank you. We will now take a moment of silent reflection. Okay, we are going to move on now to our recognitions and celebrations and this is going to be
002by executive director Noanes. Good evening, President Zida, governing board members, Superintendent Davidson, fellow cabinet members, and community members both present and online. Tonight, we are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of former LED 79 students who earned high maximum scores in math and or English language arts during the 2425 school year. These students exemplify the dedication, perseverance, and the love of learning that we strive to cultivate across our district. Their accomplishments reflect not only their hard work, but also the commitment of our teachers, families, and the school communities who continue to support and inspire them. As a district, we are truly growing graduates to believe, belong, and become the very best they can be as they continue their journeys through high school, college, and beyond. Please join us in recognizing these exceptional students. Rowan Griffin,
003formerly of Benoto Elementary School. Ryland Fain, formerly Verado Heritage Elementary School. Paige Pen, formerly Verado Heritage Elementary School. Jasper Sternfield, formerly of Verado Heritage Elementary. Cassandra Byron, formerly of Verado Middle School. Samuel Chang, formerly Verado Middle School. Carson Webster, formerly of Western Sky. Cohen Matthews, formerly of Western Sky Middle School. And present with us tonight, one of the ones that was able to make it with us is Jaden Gordano, Western Sky, formerly of Western Sky Mitter School. Congratulations to each of these students on this remarkable achievement. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to all that lies ahead as you continue to shine as Lichfield learners. Congratulations with you. >> Come on, Mom. That is true. >> All right. Congratulations. Thank you. Next, we are going to move on to uh public request
004to speak. I'm going to start by reading this disclaimer. Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 38-41.01H, 1H. This agenda item provides an open call to the public, allowing individuals to address the governing board on any issue within the jurisdiction of the board. Items not listed on the agenda may be brought to the governing board's attention under this section of the agenda. 005later date. Please limit your comments to no more than 3 minutes and no more than 30 minutes will be devoted to the public comment portion of the agenda. When you approach the podium, please state your name for the record. Today we have one speaker. It's Mark East, the superintendent of Aguafia Union High School District. >> Good evening, President Zida, members of the board, Superintendent Davidson, and Litzfield Elementary uh community. Thank you for having me uh approach the podium and talk about our superintendent uh academic superstars program. You might remember I was here a couple of uh months ago to talk about our efforts to raise um awareness um in our community about uh all the kids that are doing great things in the classroom and and our academic superstars. And it's so fitting that um
006uh Elizabeth is here today because it was Elizabeth and uh President Zida that actually woke me up to the fact that um we celebrate a lot of things in the Alfria High School district, but we were coming up a little bit short um and in some areas a lot short on our academic um recognition. So, we've started this initiative and this campaign um this year and I just wanted to come back and report uh of what we are going to be doing. Um just a couple of weeks ago, you might have received in your mail that uh our community connect and that goes out to about 70 actually about 100,000 people in our school district and we recognized our academic superstars and what we were going to be doing there. So, we listed all the
007students in the school uh district that were in the top one. Uh I think it was maybe 3% of the school district. Um and that kind of kicked off what we were uh going to be doing. Uh some of the other things that we're going to be doing is going to be recognizing um students districtwide for National Merit Scholars, top 5%. Um, we have a list of students that will be uh that we'll be recognizing that are um have been accepted to and will be going to Ivy League league schools or to honors colleges uh like uh Elizabeth is doing at the honors college at at ASU. Um and we're going to continue to celebrate these successes in lots of different ways. We're actually kicking off a billboard campaign in February that we will run
008um February through May to recognize the students on the big billboards on the freeway. Um we are going to continue to publish articles in the Buckeye Buzz, the West Valley View and and lots of different publications around town to celebrate our academic superstars and just find ways to to really spotlight the hard work that the kids are doing in the classroom. and we're proud of this initiative. I really want to thank again President Zida and Elizabeth for bringing this to my attention. You know, sometimes from the superintendency you you you don't know everything that's going on in your schools. Um and certainly it was something that that uh I needed to get directly involved in and and show um model for for the rest of our school. There's things that we wanted to do. So
009um be looking for some of these really cool things. Um, we are actually having a very nice dinner at the Wigwam for all of our academic superstars at the end of the year. And I already have a guest speaker um that's going to come and and be one of our speakers at the event. Um, but again um uh I appreciate the partnership. Um, thank you for letting us know and we are so excited to uh continue to recognize uh our academic superstars. Thank you. >> Thank you. Okay, we are going to move on now to the next item on the agenda, which is the adoption of agenda and consideration of consent agenda. I'll go through and see if anyone has anything they would like to uh pull off of consent. I'll start with you, Mr.
010Mike's. >> Nothing for me. >> Mr. Owens, >> nothing for me. Thank you, >> Miss Moran. >> Nothing to remove. Miss Wallace. >> Nothing. Thank you. >> I don't have anything either. If someone would like to make a motion. >> I move to approve the consent agenda items as presented. >> A second. >> Having a motion from Mr. Owens and a second from Miss Wallace. I'll call for the vote. Mr. Mike's. >> Yay. >> Mr. Owens. >> Yay. >> Miss Moran. >> Yay. >> Miss Wallace. >> Yay. I'm >> also a yay. Motion passes. Okay, we're going to move right on to our action items, which we will start with 8.1, consideration and possible adoption of a resolution providing for all matters relating to the sale and issuance of school improvement bonds. This is going
011to be by CFO vaugh. Madame President, members of the governing board, Superintendent Davidson, colleagues and community, thank you for joining me tonight to allow us to potentially move forward in the sale of bonds related to our most recent successful bond election in November of 2023. This authorization would allow the district to sell up to the remaining $50 million of authorization. We may still choose to break up the remaining sale into uh multiple based on the timing of projects. Either way we choose to proceed, the team will work with our investment bankers to support a consistent tax rate for our community. And if we do decide to break it up into multiple sales, we would uh bring any future sales back to the governing board just like this one. The attachments on the agenda item include
012a resolution allowing the district to move forward, related agreements connected to the bond sale process, and disclosures the district will be making to potential buyers of the district bonds. We do request you take particular note of the draft preliminary official statement, which we had a due diligence call today to review. This sale will make uh funding available for all bond program areas such as safety and security, transportation, renovation, uh technology, and classroom furniture. After tonight, our next step will be meeting with uh rating agencies, and other involved parties to move the process forward. At this time, I'm available to answer any questions you may have. We also have Brian Lundberg from Steeple, the district's investment banker, in the audience as well to help answer any potential questions. >> Mr. Mike, did you have any questions?
013>> I don't have any questions. >> Mr. Owens, >> no questions. Thank you. >> Miss Moran, >> I do not have any questions. However, I will note that this is a complicated legal document, even for the best of us. So, um, when I hear you say that you will be keeping the tax rate consistent for our constituents, that's my primary concern. We know that the voters approved the full hundred million. And so, for me, I just want to make sure that we are prudent in spreading that cost out so that we don't get angry um, voters on our hands. So, as long as that's being done, which you said it was, then I'm a happy camper. >> Miss Wallace. >> No questions. Thank you. >> I don't have any questions either. If someone would like
014to make a motion. I move to approve the adoption of a resolution providing for all matters related to the sale and issuance of school improvement bonds of the district, including delegation to the superintendent and CFO of the district to determine certain matters related thereto. >> I second. >> Having a motion from Miss Moran and a second from Miss Wallace, I will call for the vote. Mr. Mike, >> yay. >> Mr. Owens, >> yay. >> Miss Moran, yay. Miss Wallace. >> Yay. >> I'm also a yay. Motion passes. Next, we will move on to discussion and approval of the fiscal year 26 expenditure budget revision number one. This will be also by our CFO vaugh. Madame President, members of the governing board, Superintendent Davidson, colleagues and community, thank you for joining me tonight to discuss the
015district's budget revision for the 2025 2026 fiscal year. Tonight's presentation aligns most closely with the resources keystone of the strategic plan. Arizona Revised Statute requires that school districts revise their budget by December 15th each year in certain instances. This revision was not required, but is customary for us to do so at this time. During this budget revision, we have reflected the most up-to-date funding information from the state by updating student counts estimates as well as better align budget amounts with areas of expected spending. During this budget revision, the district was able to uh recognize the decline in enrollment we've uh seen as well as updated ADM to reflect accurate special education and other weighted student counts. These changes in average daily membership and weighted student counts are increasing the M budget by a little over
016310,000. um compared to the adopted budget in July. The district is also aligning the amount of the M override and carryover to updated figures published by the state or the final results from last year. This revision also recognizes the one-time funding from the state in our M budget as we discussed in November. In total, this budget revision decreases the M budget by about $78,000, primarily driven by the update of our carryover from 2025 into 2026. When comparing these figures from our projected budget, our revenue side budget shortfalls have actually largely been addressed. Um and uh in the one-month time frame, the revenue uh expected from the state has increased $657,000. This is um actually a uh artifact of current year funding and uh really does uh show how that can be so challenging to forecast.
017When we get to our uh capital uh fund, we'll see that we have significantly less uh variance in that uh revenue and that's because capital is not on a current year funding type arrangement. At a high level in this budget revision, we see increased spending appearing likely in regular education due to increased salary and benefits costs, increased costs in special education due to contracted staff and outplay students with the budget capacity to cover coming in large part from the expected carryover shown on the reports and a reduction in the transportation budget. Transportation was overbudgeted in the adopted budget compared to where we ended fiscal year 2025. And transportation has continued to do a great job from the end of last year and this year managing their use of contracted options. Looking uh at the budget
018revision by type of spending, we see that the budget capacity was largely shifted from p purchased professional services or contracted staff to salaries and benefits. This shift from contracted services to salaries and benefits is primarily being driven by too much being budgeted uh for contracted staff in the transportation area in the adopted budget. Similar to the maintenance and operation funds, unrestricted capital outlay revenues is driven by student count. However, unlike maintenance and operations fund, the capital fund is driven by prior year student count numbers. As a result, the change in ADM driving our capital budget uh changed dramatically less than in M. Uh it is typical to see a small change on the December budget revision due to the state finalizing calculations for the prior year well after school districts adopt their budget for the
019coming year. In this revision, we recognize an update to the carryover from 2025 into 2026 as well as the Prop 123 funding. Due to adopting on the preliminary forms published by the state, we were not able to recognize Prop 123 funding in our adopted budget. The net of these two items is $337,000 increase to our capital budget uh on this revision. Although I I do want to point out it it actually really isn't a change from what we were expecting. We just couldn't really recognize it on the forms previously. Our capital budget is broken up between facility improvements and replacements, furniture, equipment and vehicles and textbooks, library books and instructional materials, as well as short-term and long-term software related items. As shown on the slide, we likely will see some shifting of this budget and
020some reduction in this budget on our main revision. We anticipate a reduction in spending in furniture, equipment, and vehicles compared to last year and potentially some shifting out of textbooks to software depending on the social studies adoption and how it may need to be shown on the budget. Um, many adoptions now because they are so electronic end up being shown as software versus textbook. But as of now, we have it budgeted in the textbook line. At this time, I'm available to answer any questions you might have about the uh budget revision. >> Mr. Mike, >> I don't have any questions on it. >> Mr. Owens, >> no questions. Thank you. Miss Moran, >> the only questions I had were addressed in the presentation, which was more information on the decrease in transportation expenses, which also
021then flowed over to my next question, which was the decrease in purchase services, which is related to transportation as you mentioned. And I'm happy to see both of those that were using less contracted services. Those are always more expensive than our um homegrown folks. So, um, no additional questions on the revision, >> Miss Wallace. >> No questions. Thank you. >> No questions for me. If someone would like to make a motion. >> I move to approve revision number one of the fiscal year 2026 expenditure budget as presented. >> A second. >> Having a motion for Mr. Owens and a second from Mr. Mics, I'll call for the vote. Mr. Mike, >> yay. >> Mr. Owens, >> yay. >> Miss Moran, >> yay. Miss Wallace. >> Yay. >> I'm also a yay. Motion passes. Next, we
022are going to move on to discuss the ratification of Troy Gilbert Elementary School Liberty Waterline Extension Agreement. This will be by CFO Vaughn. Again, it's just all you tonight. This is such a an exciting step forward in our uh building out of Troy Gilbert. All right, Madame President, members of the governing board, Superintendent Davidson, uh thank you for joining me tonight to discuss and ratify the agreement with Liberty Water for Troy Gilbert's sewer extension. This agreement will allow the district to begin construction on the sewer portion of the project. This agreement has been reviewed by district legal counsel and the terms of the agreement are largely driven by state statute. Um we're available to answer any questions you might have about this agreement. >> Mr. Mike, >> I don't have any. >> Mr. Owens, >>
023none for me. Thanks, >> Miss Moran. >> Once again, my only question was addressed in the uh materials presented, which was where is this money coming from? and it was included in the initial 3% estimate for utility fees. So that works for me. >> Miss Wallace, >> no questions. Thank you. I have no questions either. Someone would like to make a motion. >> I'll move to approve the ratification of the Troy Gilbert Elementary School Liberty Water Line Extension Agreement as presented. >> I'll second. >> Having a motion for Mr. Mics and a second for Mr. Owens, I'll call for the vote. Mr. Mike, >> yay. >> Mr. Owens, >> yay. Miss Moran, >> yay. >> Miss Wallace, >> yay. >> I'm also yay. Motion passes. You're doing so great tonight. Okay. Next, we're going to
024move on to consideration and approval of the 2026 governing board meeting schedule. That's going to be by Dr. Davidson. >> Good evening, Madam President, members of the board, and uh staff community. Um tonight as an attachment we um have proposed next year's governing board schedule. Um certainly the work on behalf of Miss Contra is is there and um you know I guess President Adam we stand for any questions. I know that this was um I guess a byproduct of the conversation we had earlier this fall around trying to make certain that we have enough meetings to do the work, making certain that our governing board has advanced notice of potential meetings and also having a level of flexibility if needed to um modify the schedule to go to one meeting in any given month. So
025all that feedback was taken and that allowed us to present tonight for um possible adoption for next year's board meeting calendar. So, thank you. >> So, I'm going to go through and just check with everybody if there's any conflicts on the dates. Um, Mr. Mike's, did you have a conflict? >> I I just have two conflicts. One is uh for June 5th and one is for August 25th. >> Okay. And June 5th is the superintendent review, right? For end of the year. Yes. So, um I would like to know from other board members. We can talk about the August one in a moment, but the June 5th one, if he cannot make it, I would prefer us to have everybody at the review. So, can is there a date that people could make work instead
026of that? >> Um well, first Mr. Mike's is it the whole week? Like what what is bad about >> it? It's the uh so starting the fourth >> that week that extended weekend 4th through the 7th pretty much is all that Friday. >> Okay. So it would like need to be the week after potentially. >> Yeah, it could be after or >> or before. Okay. >> Be you know the Tuesday the second. >> Okay. Um the following Friday the 12th would be fine for me. >> I have no conflict with the 12th. >> Okay. Uh Mr. Owens the 12th. Could you do that? Yes. It's trashed. I mean, that's really important to be >> No, I'm good. I'm good with >> Miss Moran. As of now, the 12th is clear. >> Okay. So, I'm good
027on that. So, when we make a motion. >> Yeah. When we make a motion, we can try to change that. And then did anybody else have any major conflicts, Mr. Owens? >> Um I out of so far my calendar next year, the only date um that I will not be here for sure is January 13th, which I understand is the first meeting of the year. So >> um I don't have to be present. >> Okay. Can I ask a clarifying question? Yes, please. >> Okay. When you're asking when we can't be here, you're you're asking for either virtually or present, >> right? If you cannot attend at all, >> you can't attend at all. Okay. >> And my major concern was the like the big like I want to make sure everybody's at the evaluations,
028but if one person has to potentially miss a one of our regular meetings, I think that that's fine so long as we make sure that we have three for a quorum, that would be okay. But um I'm more concerned about our major meetings. So um and I'm asking just in case like a couple of people have the same date for even our regular meetings or not. So Miss Moran, did you have any conflicts >> as of right now? No, I do not have any conflicts. >> Miss Wallace, I have a couple that I would have to attend virtually, but not a conflict. The only one I may not be able to attend at all would be the September 22nd. >> So, I would like feedback from the board on whether or not we want to
029move any of those meetings. The 13th is our organizational meeting. So, I don't know what you guys think about that. I'm open to feedback from other people. >> Ryan, would you like us to move that one or are you good with not being at that one? I mean, can we move it to the 20th? >> Uh, >> is that too late >> for the first meeting? >> The 20th. >> She cannot. >> I do think by law there is a date. >> Oh, there is a date. We have to No, >> it used to be that you had to have it by the 15th of January, but now they've lifted that so that you can have the first meeting within the month of January and still be okay. >> Okay. Okay. Can we have So
030we have a meeting the 27th. So I'm sorry. >> Can we do >> I could do it the sixth, but I can't do the 20th. >> Miss Maran, Mr. Mike, >> the I I'm I'm pretty open honestly for whatever anybody wants to to have. if I can accommodate. >> I cannot do the 6th, but could possibly do the 20th. But if we're swapping one board member for another, then >> I would just I I mean, if we're swapping one board member for another, I'd almost just say let's leave it when it is. But um >> No, I I understand. >> Yeah, >> that's fine. >> But you said you can't attend virtually. >> I cannot. No. >> Oh, you cannot. Okay. Sorry. No, you're fine. I didn't say that. Either way, >> are you out
031that whole week or could we do a different day that week? >> I mean, we keep we our board meetings are on Tuesday. It's fine. I'm back Wednesday, Wednesday, but I I don't need to be the hold up. >> I mean, would everybody be okay with doing it on a different day of the week for that one? >> I'm open. >> I can do Wednesday. >> You could do Wednesday. Miss Moran, could you do Wednesday? >> Sure. >> So, could you do the 14th, Ryan? >> I could. >> Is that work for district admin? >> Okay. So, we'll put Okay. So, I don't have any other conflicts. So everyone if whoever would like to make a motion to approve the calendar with the change of January 14th being the organizational meeting and June >> 12th
032sorry yes to be the superintendent review I think that's correct. I move to approve the governing board meeting schedule for the calendar year changing the January date to January 14th from January 13th and June 5th to June 12th. >> I second. >> Having a motion from Miss Wallace and a second from Mr. Mike. I'll call for the vote. Mr. Mikes. >> Yay. >> Mr. Owens. >> Yay. >> Miss Moran. >> Yay. >> Miss Wallace. Yay. >> I'm also a yay. Motion passes. >> That made me so happy. That was much faster than last time, everyone. Okay, we're going to move on now to discussion items. The discussion item, only one we got is first read of trust model policy chapter 4, section 4-201, code of conduct. And this will be uh by executive director Satderfield.
033>> President's item and members of the governing board, Dr. Davidson and colleagues, um I bring forward policy 4-201, which is our code of conduct. Um this was reviewed at the same time as our other policies, uh all the other personnel policies and was shared with the board prior to the March 25th meeting. However, we inadvertently omitted it during our recent policy review. I apologize for this administrative error and oversight and appreciate the opportunity to bring trust policy 4-201 code of conduct to you for the first read this evening. This is a critical policy as it delineates our expectations and prohibitions for our employees so that there's clear understanding of the expectations for conduct in Lichfield Elementary School District. Thank you again for allowing us to bring this policy for your review and approval. >> Mr.
034Mike, did you have any questions or comments? >> I have no questions. Thank you, >> Mr. Owens. >> None for me. Thank you, >> Miss Moran. >> No questions. Thank you, Miss Wallace. >> No questions. >> I actually do have a question. And it's just that we already got this. It was already presented. Was it like in the stuff when we You said it was before our March 24th meeting, right? >> Yes, ma'am. and then um we didn't bring it back for in our review. We omitted this one alto together. >> Okay. So, so that's why we have to start this whole Okay. This one I was like if we already did this, wouldn't we? Even though we didn't. Okay. So, all righty then. >> Thank you for your consideration. >> No problem. Thank you.
035So, this will come back next time for approval. Okay. Awesome. Well, then we are going to move on. Oh my gosh, this is great everybody. We're going to move on to reports now. We will start with uh Superintendent Davidson. >> All right. Thank you, President Zida and members of the board. So, it has been really, really busy over the last three days. Miss Benjamin and Dr. Ducey and I have had a chance to engage in apple pie tours across three campuses, three days in a row. Um Barbari, Blen Sto, and finishing today at Wigwam Creek. And um you know, one of the things that I've I think is really important for all of us as district administrators, but even as a superintendent, is to ensure that our academic program is strong across all of our
036schools. And so, even though it's been busy and it takes a lot of time, I appreciate the efforts of our staff and our leaders to partner with us and really visiting almost every single classroom today. We unfortunately due to schedule missed three eighth grade teachers, but we will be back. But um it's um the work of this team beside me, but also the work of our guiding coalition um has allowed us to go into our classrooms and really look for specific things. And I I believe we probably shared that with the board, but for those listening online as well, we sat around and said, "What are some characteristics that you would want to see in every classroom that if you saw those every single day throughout the classroom experience, our kids would be having great
037success?" So, we we look for eight different criteria around um the lessons being aligned to the state standards. Do the kids know what they're supposed to be doing? Are they responding our students responding to questions from teachers that cause them to be more engaged in the work? Are they are our students having to do something? Are they having to write? Are they having to speak to a partner? How do they demonstrate learning? And bottom line, are kids following expectations? can they handle themselves appropriately, allowing others to learn and allowing the teacher to do their job. Those are just a few of them. But I just wanted to highlight that because it takes a lot of work. And I'll tell you over the last three days, if our schools continue to do what they're doing day
038in day out, the data is strong. And our tier one um teaching and learning is exceptional. Uh, and I know you guys have a chance to see that at times, but uh, just want you to know I'm really really happy um, really really tired, but excited to to continue this um, progress that we're making on the whole concept of student success. So, just wanted to share that with our governing board. Um, some key things also coming in the future, which is tomorrow over at Corte Sierra. I know a few of our board members will have a chance to join us. We have a celebration on behalf of our um some of our self-contained um special education classrooms in partnership with Kuanas. We'll be celebrating the holidays and we just are so appreciative of the work
039of the Kuanas and how they support our students in those classrooms. U had a awesome experience uh and this is a shout out to Miss Fantisia over at Verado L. She has made a great partnership with Victory, one of our retirement communities in our district. We have well into the 50s the number of individuals who have come uh to her saying we want to volunteer. Sign us up for reading with students. Sign us up for being out in playgrounds with kids. So just the list goes on, but we're excited about that partnership and see where that takes us. Um and I think I'll just end it with it's a very busy season. We have some time off in the near future. um for those listening and for our community um as well as you all
040please uh enjoy your holiday season, get some rest and uh we'll be back here in January ready to do it all over again and make certain again that our kids have that success that uh they deserve. So thank you. >> Thank you Dr. Davidson and we will move on to reports from the governing board members. Mr. Mike, we'll start with you. Yeah, my main event that I was able to attend so far since our last uh visit was uh getting to go visit Verado Elementary and just a just an outstanding uh school, all the great things that are going on. Uh great leadership, great teachers. Um it's just a really great community of learning. Um and it's just it's just a quite quite a sight to see. It's it's always exciting to walk through that
041campus and see all the great things going on. So, big shout out uh to them. And uh just other than that, just kind of reflecting at the end of the year, I you know, we I appreciate all of the hard work from our teachers and our staff and our administration as we kind of close out this calendar year and this semester with all the holiday festivities and making everybody all the kids feel important and see, you know, seeing uh making sure everybody's seen and heard at the same time. I mean, all the balls in the air, juggling those around. We we appreciate the the dedication and the focus uh that that everyone gives here at the district to kind of push through and finish that off and and be in a great position to launch
042off uh in January when all the kids come back. So, that's it for me. >> Mr. Owens. >> Since last meeting, I also got to um do or attend two showcases, which is my favorite part of all this, just getting to see the kids in the classrooms and forgetting that I was once that little and I could, I guess, function too, just like them. Now they're on computers. I could barely hold a pencil. So, uh did Verado Elementary in Palm Valley, a great job. Thanks to Principal Fantasia and Dr. Hill for the um hospitality and just going over the, you know, where their schools and are achie are achieving and excelling and where they, you know, have deficiencies and they're looking always to constantly improve. And so that's what I think's amazing about these showcases
043is um hearing directly from the principles what they're doing on their campuses and and how to maintain and grow and just nurture. And one of the things that was emphasized is the safety amongst the campuses. And that was we got to talk to a lot of students and that was that was one thing that consistently we heard at both both campuses was how safe the students feel and how loved they feel by their teachers. So I I appreciate that and um you know happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy new year everybody. So thanks >> Miss Moran. >> Yes. Similar to my fellow board members, I was able to attend the Verado Elementary School showcase as well as the Palm Valley Elementary School showcase this month. Thank you to Principal Fantia and Dr. Hill for taking the
044time to highlight the good work that is taking place on your campuses and across your students and teams. It is always a pleasure to see our Lichfield learners and our Lichfield leaders in action. For me, the remainder of December has many festive celebrations on the calendar and some time for rest with family as Dr. Davidson noted as well. So, my holiday wish for you is that you spend time doing what you love with the ones you love. So, I'll leave you with lyrics from Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Sinatra's version. Through the years, we all will be together if the fates allow. So hang a shining star upon the highest bow and have yourself a merry little Christmas. Now >> Miss Wallace, >> I was able to attend the Palm Valley Showcase, which is
045where my children go to school. So it was great to see be on the campus for a different reason and see them there. Um, I've also not in a board member capacity, but been attending soccer games at the different campuses. Um, as my son plays soccer for Palm Valley and I am loving seeing the different campuses and fields and kids out playing and there's usually basketball games going on at the same time. So, I've been able to see some of those games in the gyms while I'm there. So, I just think that the sports that we are doing as a district are a great enrichment for the kids and I love seeing everyone involved, the parents on campus, the principles and teachers that are coming out to watch the kids. It's just a really cool
046environment. So, I've been enjoying that this month. I um this is a very very busy time of year. It's It's feels like never stopping. Um, since our last board meeting, I had three more Thanksgiving feasts that I was able to help with and attend at Rancho Santa Fe, Wigwong Creek Middle School, and Barbara Robby Elementary School. Uh, shout out to Mutz on a Mission volunteers that came out, both Rancho and Barbara Robby. Uh, they are the highlight of my time of going to Barbara Robby. It's like why I will always want to volunteer at that Thanksgiving feast cuz those ladies and then also Bruce that comes with them are just the most feisty fun women I've ever gotten to be around. So I really shout out to them for coming and helping. Uh I was
047also able to attend the school showcases at Verado Elementary in Palm Valley. Uh these are really great for us to see the schools and to be reminded why we're doing this and what we're all here for as those kiddos. And also the principles have been really great about digging into here's where we are and here's where we're going and sharing that information and being totally honest and open with us. And it's been really great to see that. Um I like the changes that I see in this district as far as people feeling like they can really share the good and the bad and know that they're not going to be attacked for it, that they're not going to be punished or anything like that. that it's just that's how we grow by acknowledging that we're
048not perfect in everything and we always have ways that we can do better and be better. So, I appreciate all those conversations that we've been able to have and I also appreciate the students that have also been very open and honest with us as well, but they always are. So, they're pretty fun. Uh I have also had regular meetings with Dr. Davidson, which is something that all of us board members make sure to make time to do so that we can kind of keep up to date of what's going on. Uh, I also spent my time volunteering at a book fair at a Roman feast. And lastly, I was able to attend the choir and band concert at Wigwang Creek last week. And every time I go to a band concert, my daughter does not
049play an instrument, she's in choir. But when I see those little sixth graders and these kiddos that have never played an instrument before, and what they're able to do with just the short amount of time that they've been in the class learning is just mind-blowing because it's not easy to figure that out, but somehow they do. and they make something that sounds pretty coherent, like you can understand what they're playing. So, I think that's fantastic. And I shout out to those music teachers for taking that on, especially for middle schoolers, because they're already just a handful. And so, trying to also make them make beautiful music with an instrument at the same time, I think, is pretty impressive. Uh lastly, I'd just like to say we are headed into this holiday season that's going to
050be busy and fun for everyone. But I do hope that everyone takes their time during our break coming up to get refreshed and ready to go because next semester is going to kick off and we're going to just be go again. So, let's just enjoy this time during the holidays with our family and our friends and we will do great things again next semester. Lastly, uh thank you to the administrators for all the reports that they send in to us. We really appreciate them. Again, I encourage our community members to read those to find out all the happenings on our campuses and in our different departments around the district. This is a great way to know what is happening. Uh we appreciate the time that goes into putting those reports together for us. And with
051that, if someone would like to make a motion, we are going to be done. >> I move to adjourn the meeting. >> Second. >> Having a motion for Mr. Mr. Owens and a second for Mr. Mics. I'll call for the vote. Mr. Mics, >> yay. >> Mr. Owens, >> yay. >> Miss Moran, >> yay. >> Miss Wallace, >> yay. >> I'm also a yay. Motion passes. This meeting is adjourned at 6:48. This is great. Thank you guys for joining us.
