001Hello Tucson Unified community. Welcome. This is  our first Governing Board meeting in the month of   April, the day before Tax Day. Hope everybody  has all of their taxes ready. We had some good   stuff tonight at the Governing Board meeting.  But first, we celebrated artistic excellence,   musical excellence, as we had the Davidson  Dragon Choir in the house. And boy,   did they perform some show-stopping tunes.  After that, our Governing Board took action   for a million dollar renovation of the old  woodshop room over at Sabino High School. A   million dollars to create and renovate a brand new  state-of-the-art machining classroom for our CTE   students out there at Sabino. We also tonight  had the opportunity to welcome our first Chief   Operations Officer in 2 years. The position has  been vacant for a while. We've struggled to find   really high

002quality applicants to fill. That  struggle has ended. So, I'd like to welcome   Miss Edith Halbert. She currently serves as a  Chief Operations Officer in a large district   in California making the move to the Old Pueblo.  We certainly look forward to welcoming her. The   Governing Board took action tonight to approve the  new salary schedules that will now be including   the 4% raises that our employees will be receiving  as a result of the override. It should be noted   that the Governing Board did not yet take action  on a salary schedule for override compensation   for TEA or for our Ex Ed educators or our subs. We  are still negotiating with those groups to come to   a final agreement. But all of our other groups,  CWA and ASME and our non-bargaining unit folks,   your salary schedules were approved tonight.

003Lastly, the Governing Board did receive an   inservice on all of the policies and procedures  and state requirements that it must adhere to   in order to consider school consolidations at  some point in the future. Difficult conversation   we'll be having all year long. If you missed  anything in tonight's Governing Board meeting,   please check them out. Check out the replay  on the Governing Board website or keep up with   all things TUSD Facebook, Instagram, and  X. We'll see you at the end of the month.
