Hi, I'm Sarah Clawson, public relations and marketing specialist with the Talison Union High School District. We are back with governing board president Stephen Chapman and our superintendent Jeremy Kais to talk about what's happening at our next governing board meeting which is Tuesday, February 10th at six o'clock at the district office. All right, let's get through it. >> We've got our usual call to order, pledge of allegiance, um approval of the regular agenda, and then a celebration of Talison High School. >> Uh yeah, we'll be turning it over to uh Mr. Pres first year uh at the school. He'll be sharing some of the highlights and celebrations at uh the high school. Do you any uh >> No, excited to see what he uh what he puts together for this presentation. I'm sure his colleagues are
going to harass him either way. So, >> uh it'll be it'll be interesting interesting to see what he can do for his first one out the gate. >> Yeah. All right. Moving on. We've got updates from our superintendent and our governing board. public participation, approval of the consent agenda, and then we're into the action items. We have three items for discussion or possible action at this meeting. Do you want to go over number one and two? >> Uh yeah. So, uh we'll be uh discussing uh second read for policy A, which is just uh uh codifying the mission, vision, and uh value statements that we created uh over the last couple years, putting that into the policy. Um and then policy BAB is just uh also a second read for our strategic plan. Uh requiring
the board and the district to create a strategic plan, quarterly reviews. Um then reviewing that at the end of the year, making any changes that we need to um things like that. So again, just kind of like codifying a lot of the work we've been doing over the the last couple years their board um and our district inside administration teams. >> Yeah. And our teams have been uh working hard on the strategic plan. They have the strategic plan dashboard that's been used to to track our measurement on the strategic plan. We've been using it for board retreats, but the quarterly updates and doing progress checks. Uh definitely going to going to be an increased value. The team's still working on getting all those new tools ready. Uh but looking forward to to how that helps
drive us and keep the strategic plan in front of us. >> Yeah. And again, what's great is all of our strategic goals are pretty much student focused, whether it's academics, extracurriculars, engagement. Um that's kind of what the policy also asks for is as we're building these strategic plan goals that we're keeping students academic extracurriculars engagement opportunities front of mind when we're building these things out moving forward as we've been doing last couple years. So >> all right and our last item is the approval of a cell tower lease. >> Uh yeah, this is just a um just a renewal. Uh we have cell phone towers at multiple uh site locations. Do you want to kind of give like a little bit of a preview on what we've been working on so far and what sites
we currently have? >> It's it's uh almost on every campus now. You'll see a cell cell phone tower. Some campuses have multiples. Um this one has been on the Westview campus for 30 years. The renewal is at an increased rate. It it'll actually be at the highest rate out of all of our cell towers. Um and it's in two five-year increments, so for a total of 10 years. So it has an optional renewal after the first five. Uh this is the third time this specific item has come back to the board. So third time's a charm and uh it was 221. So it was undecided last time, but we're thinking maybe this time it'll, you know, fair differently. We'll see. >> All right. We'll find out on Tuesday. Um after that, there's a possibility of
going into an executive session and we're wrapping up the meeting. >> Yeah. >> Yep. Just a future agenda item request and then our next meeting again in end of February. All right, that's it for the agenda on Tuesday, February 10th, 6 o'clock at the district office.
