I would like to I would like to call Mrs. Morgan back to the podium to introduce our first employee, the educator of the month. >> So, Miss Katie, >> Miss Katie, would you please come down? >> Okay. I'm hoping that I can do this justice. So, there are some people
um at school that can bring such meaning and gift to students um it's actually hard to capture in words and Miss Katie is one of those people. So, I'm going to try. Um she's an educator in our dual language program. She not only teaches in both English and Spanish, uh she empowers students to embrace their full identities. Her classroom is a place where strengths are celebrated and languages are honored and every child is encouraged to do great things. Uh her dedication uh with helping students learn both language and content goes handinhand with her commitment to keeping their cultures at the center of their learning. She's a strong advocate for her students, consistently nurturing confidence, pride, and perseverance, and her students flourish in her care. Her email signature says, "A foreign accent is a sign of
bravery." And she lives that message every day. She teaches her students that learning a new language takes courage. She celebrates that courage in them every single day. Beyond her classroom, she her leadership s shines across the building. She spearheads our uh annual multicultural night. She's already started with planning on that. She's also positive, welcoming colleague who supports others without hesitation. She's always ready to help translate, collaborate, and lift those around her. So, we are very grateful for her passion, her advocacy, and the joy that she brings to Smallley every single day. So, congratulations. >> All right, we did it. Congratulations. >> All right. And our support staff of the month is Miss Hansen, our school nurse. So who I did see come. YES. All right. So, as a new principal at Smallley, there are some
people that I silently thank a hundred times in the day without saying it out loud. Um, just for being exactly who our students need in the moment and no matter what's happening. And so, you know, Miss Hner Sansson is one of those people. I don't think she realizes how grateful I am for her almost every single moment of every single day. Um, and this is why she consistently goes above and beyond for our students. Emergencies always come first for her and she manage them manages them with remarkable professionalism and care. She's incredibly nurturing and feel and students feel genuinely comfortable seeking her out, not just for medication, medical needs, but also for reassurance and support. Um, her selflessness is evident in everything she does. She works through her lunch, she stays late when needed, and
she never hesitates to offer help. She assists families with scheduling appointments, finding resources, and then guides them through steps when additional support is needed, which is very, very much appreciated. Her communication with families is thorough and unwavering, ensuring every parent is informed, every concern is addressed, and every child's well-being remains front and center. Beyond Smallley, she also serves as a mentor for other student other nurses in the district, sharing her guidance and expertise. And in an elementary school, it's essential for students to know exactly who they can turn to for help. And Miss Hansen is absolutely one of those people. Her compassion, dedication, and commitment to our students make her uh profoundly deserving of this honor. So, congratulations. >> Congratulations. Another round of applause for Miss Katie and Miss Hansen. Okay, at this time we're
going to ask all of our student uh students of the month and their families to come up on the stage so we can take a group picture. Oh yeah. >> Yeah. She likes not lying. Something happens. I'll take care of. >> Congratulations. >> Good. >> Congratulations. I should have told everybody you help me with my math problem, right? Congratulations. Congratulations again. Give me a high five. Don't look that way. Good. >> Get dessert, right? >> Two desserts. >> Sorry. Sorry. >> Congratulations again. >> What's that? >> A wish. A wish. >> Yeah. >> Can I get two desserts?
Miss Kadavid and Miss Hansen, >> can we come down and take a picture? normally. >> Yeah. >> So, you got your haircut. >> Did you do it yourself? >> Oh, I was just No, I said her hair looks perfect. I bet you should do it yourself. >> I have been cutting it myself. Yeah, looks great. I like it. It's a good length. >> You got promoted. Nice. >> I did. I did. >> She's our leader. >> 25. >> Thank you. >> Executive. Yeah, we're going in for one >> four. >> Yeah. That was just going It was so deserving. I was surprised. She's >> okay. >> All right. You ready? Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Moving on to committee reports. We have Miss High with education. Okay. Um education is actually going to be very quick.
We had a presentation. Um Dr. Winters did had did a demonstration on the um link it program. This is a um a platform just highlighting student data. The the students all take a baseline test in the beginning of the year and then they are assessed throughout the year. But this initial um baseline test really identifies where the students are and what you will do instructional with instruction to reach each of those students. So you may have some who are performing exactly where they should be continue with that program and then looking at students who are just about there and how can we work with those students so that they do get up to that next level. Um it just is identifying instructional needs. We discuss some of the uh strategies and some of the programming
that teachers are using and that's it. >> Thank you. And next is government with Miss High again. >> Well, hello again. So when we were in the governance uh uh report doing the committee reports what we did is we spent some time on policies those policies are on this um this week's this month's agenda and it really was um there were three in particular it was resource materials how they're identified um uh public complaints how just chain of order how they um occur and uh library materials and as I said again this is really brief. Um, all of those are explained in in the agenda and that's it. >> Okay. Thank you. And human resources again, Miss Hi. >> Well, that's me and I will be doing a little dance afterwards or all. So, with
the um HR committee, one of the first things we do every month is we go over what the positions are, what is open, what needs to be filled, any resignations that have taken place. This is a truly a living document because it's always being updated and you will see a few of those positions um are being fulfilled tonight under personnel. Um you know that we had also gone over job descriptions and this kind of starts in human resources goes over uh to governance in some way because it's policy. it. Um we looked at the um job descriptions for the athletic director and also for um an accountant to assist with the business administrator. Um we also had a presentation from NJ Sig call it and it um it was just uh an audit and an
update. It was just in um addressing insurance needs, looking at um workman's comp, you know, analyzing the data that we have uh you know, with our current programs and just looking at where we will be going in the future. >> And that's it. >> Thank you. And next is operations again. >> I'll do it. >> Okay. So we had a a visitor and this was um Niss Vokia am I saying that right for our pro for our who gave us their our audit report. Typically, we have an audit book which is very impressive and it just goes over everything that the auditors come in and go over everything in the district and you know with we did not get the book because I'm not sure if you heard there was a government shutdown and that
kind of put us on a bad burner. Um it will be coming but um we are in compliance. It was you know they're looking at we had a very good uh a very good year. the financial and state is done. Um but the delay the delay really is because of that uh the shutdown and getting all all that um up to so that we are all current with everything that needs to be done. Um we talked about some of the things that we had done um in the district, you know, just the updates that we had done in all of the buildings, how they're proceeding. um and she will be coming to um a board meeting to present all of that to everybody here. Uh we we also talked about the um school health insurance
and you know just what is going on with that you know where we are you know just looking at other programs also um as we know that's a you know very costly item when it comes to making sure that everybody is uh covered um I'm thinking that's just about it thank you Mrs. Hai and next Mr. in Calcata for Southbound Brook report. >> Uh not much to add. We are currently working on the heating system for the building and figuring out the snow removal process now that we've taken over the parking lot from the town. Uh we also had a successful holiday celebration for Halloween. >> Any questions? This is >> Thank you. Um next open for agenda items only. Public comment. Seeing none, we'll move on to approval of the minutes 6.1 to 6.2.

just going and kids coming, the high school kids coming down to read to the little kids. It just makes me so happy to see this. And there was one and I can't remember the number. It was from Smallley School where they had um received an um a donation, you know, a very nice donation and it was anonymous, but it was really to help with the uh a dual language class. It just was so nice to see and that teachers take the time to look at what is available and apply for that because that's a lot of times, you know, when you're filling out applications and getting any kind of data. So, it's just really nice to see that. So, thank you. That's it. >> All right. Can I get a roll call vote? >> Sure.
