so Dan just out of curiosity when when we go live on YouTube what is usually the attendance rate like how many people are usually attending during the livestream I couldn't tell you that I have no Tom because I know doesn't it have like a number of like and then I'm sure it does I just out of curiosity more than anything it looks like we have 38 subscribers it's more that come to our actual meetings okay so somebody here has YouTube going on in the background so we need to turn that off [Music] okay now one was me and every time I go up to so is your fault I'm so not used to that was that saying she's having trouble connecting let me see if I can sent her yes she's the only one that's

missing at the moment she just puts in the meeting ID and the password that's good enough right yeah that's how I did it I'm gonna just send her a snap of that and see if that helps I just click on the link from the email dancer yeah she says she's I don't know she says she's having problems so I just said that yeah clicking on the link doesn't work for me I have to go to Skype and enter the really yeah I don't know why I hate technology you know what when I write notes with a pencil they are always there when I go back all right we're gonna get started so at this moment I'm gonna ask for a roll call with star tree yeah mr. ball yeah yeah mr. pallone yeah I'm here

by it and I'm sure our faculty and staff are the same but whatever it is that we do going forward you know hopefully we can work as a team to make sure that you know whatever whatever form it looks like that's you know the kids are just getting the best of what they need and I thank them all for for pitching in and doing just that okay anything else Michelle no I'm still trying to get miss Martinez into this meeting so do you want me to email her another link yeah why don't you do that not trying okay if miss miss Stevens if you would be so kind while I'm doing that if you could read the students of the month for me I'm just scrolling down okay so the June Bound Brook School District

also have to talk about do we need to make any adjustments to our strategic plan that's necessary also this week we will have our IDI committee meeting which will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. they'll be going over summer assignments and I know we're a little bit behind schedule with everything but we have to do summer assignments and get that out we also need to go over homework procedures with ed committee now that that's out of policy okay so now we are up to public content and items only and agenda items only we have five comments so far and the first one is from mrs. O'Reilly 7:45 schoolhouse lane passed down option please explain how passed out option if approved would work which students be given the option to get a letter grade opposed to pass

south how would pass an option to letter grade affect their transcript flat Frank lastly but students be given the opportunity if they fail with summer school be online or in a building with social distance and seeing precautions the pastel option is up to this will be up to the students whether they want to take the pass/fail option if a student fails we do have summer school but it will be done virtually there will be nothing in our in our buildings the pass/fail option could potentially have some impact on class rank again goes a pass/fail option and it has an automatic weight to it I don't know exactly what that way is but obviously if you're a student and you have a very high GPA you probably would want to take the letter I mean your

number grade versus a letter grade at that point in time question number two Patricia o Reilly 745 schoolhouse lien I cannot see today's meeting it says live now I know people are on so I think we're good Laura Paxson or any new hire ease related or have any prior connections to any current employees not to my knowledge lauren packs attempt a street BOE policy changes where can we see the language for the proposed BOE policy changes again they should be posted on the website as far as I know at the agenda number five okay that was a mistake so there are no more Dan I just had a question because I he talked about the policy I know we were asking to make sure that in wherever the changes were they were highlighted I didn't

see that for these this round is that not gonna cuz I thought because I think didn't we I think we had asked at one point that we didn't to only like you know at least highlight or indicate somewhere within the policies what the actual change was cuz I know most of them are done by the company that does the policy change cuz they're just they just usually strike throughs on those changes so it's just usually like a it'll come through with straight changes yeah I didn't really see those and so they could have been additions so like I know that it's another company that does that for us based on I can have I can have that forwarded out to you for the policies that are on here for time right cuz I know before

we make them final I think people would want to you know really look through their I mean most of them we we really can't change anyway because they're I'm assuming these are things that are handed down basically because something got a decision was made in the law Debbie and then our policy company then makes sure that they go through our policies to make sure that we're in line with whatever was handed down is that correct that's typically how it works yes okay cuz I think because there are a lot of new people on the board so I think um you know we had a policy that was just created by us for our own you know our own school community that's different than where we're getting tonight what we're getting tonight is from the state

correct yeah these are probably little edits from the state you know off the top of my head I think one is often and again I'm working off the top of my head because I didn't see all the policies that were listed I could probably take a fast look up here on the agenda hold on a second I had asked for the same thing when looking over the policies if the the strike there was my work changes could be highlighted because some of them are very obvious depending on the length and some of them it's like you're looking for is it an and or has it become an or yeah yeah like the the the domestic violence popular you gotta bring it up a little bit there there there probably were some strength through some some

verbage changes depending on some law edits health and phys-ed was was a you know again probably some verbage changes to post needles are probably there those two are brand new that's a requirement for us to have a lactate room in schools the medication to revise supervisor our constructions revised school year school day and school closings those are revised just based upon obviously going virtual and things like that and the reporting missing and abuse children was also revised so I'll have Taryn send that stuff out to you guys tomorrow thank you any other comments before we move on ugly I got was that fun there she is she's in alright so now we are up two minutes for 518 so approval of the minutes oh wait I'm sorry hold on one second we did get one

more question there is us from Lauren packs attempt a street policy there's no language on the agenda again our attachments to the agenda I think you would have to click on each one of those it's electronic okay so approval of minutes from the five 18 20 board meeting can I get any motion motion motion miss Stevens a second second mr. bone discussion I have to abstain just a bone mass to abstain anybody else roll call mr. Autry yes mr. ball yes mr. bones abstaining Ms Muhsin yes miss Martinez yes Morris yes miss Stevens yes miss Rosamond oh yes bottle there yes is DeFazio yes carries okay so we are up to personnel resolutions resolved the superintendent recommends for approval the resolutions as outlined the personnel resolutions under district that in high school six point two

through six point seven can I get a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second miss Morris discussion seeing none roll call the story yes mr. ball yes mr. Bohm yes is Muhsin yes gotcha miss Martinez yes is Morris yes miss Stevens yes miss Rosamond oh yes mr. Volare yes mr. bell mr. meddler yes okay I didn't hear you sorry and miss DeFazio yes motion carries we are up to Section seven approval of middle and elementary personal resolutions resolved the superintendent recommends for approval resolutions has outlined the personnel resolutions under middle and elementary schools seven point two through seven point six can I get a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second decade jacket mr. Bohm discussion I just had a question about the assignment changes in the secretaries what was that a requester we just switching things

up I believe her only removing two secretaries one was a request one was a move because obviously we also reduced by a secretary in the district okay thank you any other discussion roll call please mr. Autry yes mr. ball yes mr. Boehm yes mrs. Muhsin yes miss Martinez yes is Morris yes miss Stevens yes miss Rosamond oh yes okay mr. Vettel there [Music] then I hear it he said abstain sorry and miss DeFazio yes sir Gary's we are up to Section eight approval of district and high school education resolutions resolved at the boundary Board of Education approves the resolutions has outlined an education resolutions on the district than high school we only have one it to eat point to the pass/fail option for the fourth marking period for grades 7 through 12 can I get

a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second second second mr. Bale discussion um I have a question about the pass/fail option and how um how soon are we gonna share that information a document with the printed explanation to all the parents in the district um if it passes tonight it will probably go out tomorrow okay the question also how does this policy compared to other districts that we know of and how did we come up with the 85% I'm not sure what you mean by the 85% I'm thinking you're meaning me the weighted average for the past versus the fail is it isn't the P equivalent yeah again I think that was that was an internal decision on that one you'd probably have to talk to our principals about that I wasn't really involved in that

but the pass/fail option is pretty much with quite a few schools are doing throughout the area on the 4th marking period just because we went virtual and obviously you know virtual is know and and everybody had some concerns with you know not enough one-on-one contact or personal contact with teachers and how much time will parents less students have to let you know like the ones who scored higher or than that how long how much time will they have to let you know what their preference is well we're gonna give it we're gonna get it out tomorrow I would think they would have to let us know by the 15th which is the last day of school I want to also think that as anybody has above an 85 that we probably would discourage them from

from taking a letter grade because that would negatively affect them well the students have their grades by the 15th Nelly will know they will not because I know at the University the students saw the what their final grades were and then made the decision I think I mean I the students should be students and parents should be able to see what what the average is currently in Genesis I'm not sure that Genesis they usually shut Genesis off in terms of grades during the last week of school so we might want to check that I will well we will make sure that they have access to see what the grade is before they make their choice any other comments roll call mr. luxray yes mr. ball yes mr. Bohm yes is Muhsin yes miss Martinez yes

is Morris yes Stevens yes Miss Rosamond oh yes mr. Volare yes and Miss DeFazio yes motion carries section 9 approval of policies district 2 high school resolved the Board of Education approves resolutions is outlined in policy resolutions under district on high school first reading is resolved we revised and new policies and regulations can I get a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second second second miss Morris discussion I'm as long as we can get before the you know the final vote on this if we could just get you know the policies you know indicated what got changed them it will be out tomorrow thank you and if I happen to have it on my computer before I leave you'll have it tonight okay I just have one question for the administration and medication yeah school nurses

or designee will be available on-site like at the school so since we have one nurse that's gonna be covering two different buildings are we gonna have a designee in each building on top of the nurse that's floating no only a nurse will give out medication so the designee may be a nurse from a different building so in other words sometimes our designee and I'll give you an example sometimes the nurses smallies absent so sometimes we have to have the nurse from community school will all be over to small school to give out medication we do not let that medication it was specifically like in reference to like allergic reaction like a nurse um well an EpiPen is different an EpiPen if there's a medical emergency we have people trained to administer those things in every

building we just we have a list of people who can do that just like we have a list of people who can do CPR we have a list of people who can do first a we have a list of people can give an EpiPen so on so this policy just relates to students who require medication every day who come down to the nurse right okay the administer is the given actually physically giving away any other comments roll call vote toiletry yes mr. ball yes mr. bone yes Muhsin yes yes yes yes miss Martinez yes miss Morris yes Stevens yes miss Rosamond oh yes mr. rattle err yes and mr. Fazio yes she carries okay we're up to section ten financial resolutions resolve the bamberg Board of Education approves the resolutions as outlined and financial resolutions

ten point two through ten point eighteen can I get a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second second second miss Martinez discussion yeah Dan I see a three different grants that we're getting can you just speak to these grants and how we got them and what they're for yes a grant yeah the that that's our that's part of our normal title grants and that's just you know the this is the time of year that we get it so that's our IDE a money that's our title one money title to title three title for money the cares grant is that's the six hundred and twenty seven thousand dollars that we got that's part of the federal stimulus and then the Alyssa's law compliance grant that is for we already did this work this is for us to

recoup some money on the panic buttons and everything else that we did a year ago how does that affect our overall budget for next year um obviously with the loss of two million dollars that I it helps stabilize the budget a little bit okay okay so the six hundred something thousand from the cares helps that offsets the 1.9 whatever that's not included in that yeah because what we did was we what we did is we're using that to offset the technology cut okay I'm saying so we're allowed to use that carriage money for certain things that were impacted by kovetz so a lot of our technology obviously because we went virtual it is covered underneath that money so what we did was we took that money and and basically supplanted what we were gonna use

in our own budget with that money that's good do you know [Music] whether the state if I go forward Basel III much likely flat this is what I would tell you is the I would not anticipate any further money coming to us what I would anticipate is further reduction again it's hard to say Dom DOM because it's all gonna be predicated on revenue there there there projection right now between the end of this year and next year is the loss of ten billion dollars in revenue that ten billion dollars of revenue may turn out to be 12 billion 12 billion 13 billion 14 billion in revenue I don't know how they make that up now the only thing I will say is they did I do believe that they did pass the resolution to allow

the governor to borrow money to make up some shortfalls I don't think he's gonna borrow twelve billion dollars for ten billion dollars I think he's just gonna borrow you know anything from that ten billion to 12 or 13 billion to as a stopgap but if it gets really bad you know I would anticipate a further cut but I would hope to be able my prediction is we'll be able to get through the year where we're at do we know money or money there is no no way to predict the state right now we can't give you a prime example graduation right we fought very hard to do what we wanted to do with graduation and then he gives the approval for July 6 to do what we did last week and he made it sound

like he was given approval for everybody to do these big elaborate graduation ceremonies and that was not the case at all because once you got the the memo and you read the memo it was restricted it was restricted to the number of people you can have so now schools are planning on doing these graduation ceremony it's based upon the executive order of 25 people and doing multiple graduations so again it all depends on what changes like the other day we were told you know yes our es5 for special ed students is going to be virtual so we send out a letter that it's gonna be all virtual and two days later the governor's on TV saying well some some services we may have in the buildings well what could not help us you're telling us

one thing in two days later you change your mind how do we how can we possibly plan my biggest fear is as we're trying to get ready to open up schools is you're gonna tell us you know to come up with a hybrid of some kind of plan or we're gonna open up fully or whatever it is and we're we're gonna spend two months getting ready to do it and then all of a sudden you change your mind it's difficult right we're gonna try as we can but it's it's becoming very difficult the devil is in the details it's not so much the executive order as the administrative orders that's where they outline like for as much as he gives an executive order you got to wait until the administrative guidelines come out the administrative

order for more and clearer direction and regarding reopening I don't I think we have to prepare for all scenarios because I don't see him coming out with anything declarative other than not opening or everybody's open figured out but the hard part the hard part is he was on was the fox news yesterday was he the fox news fox news or NBC where he's basically saying schools are gonna be open in september but yet deal we don't see we don't see a road to open it you see what I'm saying we're getting double messages all the time yeah but yeah schools are gonna be open in September he didn't say the buildings will fake yeah and that's what I mean the devil is in the details schools gonna be open in September but we're wait my

understanding is that the original date to come up with some sort of announcement was between June 1st and June 15th and then it's now been pushed back between 2 and 15 and June 30th so I don't I think we'll know July 1 if we're lucky yeah yeah it gets pushed back again exactly I'm not taking that bet at all well they need to provide time for teachers to prepare if they're gonna tell everyone it's online so it's gonna be hydrat everybody's gonna have to invest an extra amount of time there's no avoiding it yes so I'd say aren't we currently through a state of emergency didn't he do it till July 7th yes even did it for another 30 days yeah I wouldn't expect anything before then declarative before that date yeah well let's finish

with section 10 here Mike can we get a roll call sorry yes mr. ball yes mr. bone yes mrs. Munson yes miss Martinez yes there's Morris yes Stevens yes miss Rosamond oh yes mr. Vidal oh there yeah miss DeFazio yes what she carries other matters to come before the border new business um I just have one thing before anybody says anything we did go out for an RFP for aids and subs and I think that due date is coming up this week correct Mike 16th we're pulling the bid opening is the 16th and will be on for next agenda hopefully second all right yeah we'll be awarding that on the 22nd so everybody is aware okay back to you guys I know you would send up some zoom meetings for policy the last time we

met we just talked about the the the policy for homework and we found that there's really no change to the actual policy its its and how its implemented in each school but um I know we had talked about suspension so I know there were some people that had asked I know Liz F and and Tricia had both asked to be on on that for that specific topic can we can we separate those things and and make sure that they're included - well Liz F was always on policy so I added we had another spot on policy so addressed on policy again I think we still need we you know when we thought we discussed this already Michelle we need two standing policy because we also need to I still think we need to tackle grading

if we have virtual if we have a virtual portion of school next year we have some sort of I've hybrid schooling next year I'd like to have a discussion about creating and have some sort of plan on that and again with the questions we we seem to be having with policy refuting the policy committee may be a good thing yes absolutely any other matters or an evening business I've heard really good feedback about the the high school graduations and I thank everybody for their time standing out there for so many hours shepherding each each student through its I'm glad we did it yeah it was really nice we got a lot of good feedback from everybody that came through my only concern probably was at Smith at one point I never saw a sheet of

red on a human being like that but he pull through pretty well so I was kind of happy about that I know I'm fair-skinned but he was he was worse than I was I was really feeling for him out there but it went really well a lot of good feedback from all of our parents and our kids and I'm glad that the executive order changed to where we can have a few more people there for families and things like that so that worked out well as well and yeah it went really well it'll be in you know we're gonna have the video all set it's going to be on YouTube Monday night at 6 o'clock on June 15th like our normal graduation time and we'll they'll be a downloadable link for all the seniors to

to download graduation as a keepsake as well nice anything else all right we are moving on to open for the public for discussion items I want to make sure I get the right one here we go Patricia o'reilly 7:45 schoolhouse lane first of all hopefully you saw my first question regarding the agenda item that it posted previously yes we did I have been having trouble with my laptop I'm sure if it went through my question for the knowledge and the item has to do with the pandemic plan I thought to play endemic pants for school reopening in the fall would be on the website we haven't done our pandemic plan for reopening of school we're in the committee phase of that we are still waiting on guidance from the Department of Education and the state

officials until we get some guidance there is going to be no way of us putting together a plan and putting anything out for parents to give parents any sense of comfort on how we're going to open without some guidance from the state is it on the website and where can we find it parents can I ask a question yes you would say would it be on May 20th the School Board Association came out with the new normal it's like 30 page document with sharing that on the website doesn't answer many questions but I mean it's out there publicly anyway there's only there's so many different things out there publicly I don't want to muddy the waters you got the lead group School Board associations part of the lead group the group consists of NJEA NJ

PSA and AAS a School Boards Association and they're working in a collaborative effort with the governor's office on school reopening plans and they seem to be I don't want to say all over in a map but they're there there's not a consistent message coming out of the league right now I don't want to start posting things and then give the people the impression this this is exactly what we're doing or this is exactly how things are gonna be because once you post it once we post something on our website it kind of makes it official that were that's what we're doing I don't necessarily want to do that because then it mean it may be totally different what comes out of the OE at that point in time this is just the collaborative it's it's

not outlining anything specifically it's just bringing up all of the different questions that all of those groups are trying to process and put together it's like you know just brainstorming emotional hybrid you know mental joanna who put who put that out who was that boards alright yeah they did it May 20th I'll take a look at it and then I'll make a decision on whether it should go up on the website or not okay so our next question is from Patricia O'Reilly 745 schoolhouse clean given everything going on in the country regarding law enforcement we have seen that proactive community outreach works to forces foster Safe Communities what does the SRO do in schools to promote safety I am also wondering what programs there are in the pipeline to foster good communication relations between police

teachers staff students and schools I am not sure if schools are still doing their programs how our parents involved in these programs given by the local police departments the DARE program I do not believe exists anymore we do do some work with our Police Department in classrooms our SRO is very visible to all of our students and staff members and we have a very good relationship with our SRO in our police department he worked very hard to have a very good relationship with all of our students as for parents being involved with the local police department that's more of an issue more of a question for parents to talk to the local police department for us we have a very good relationship with the local police department and our SRO officer has a very good

relationship with all of our students and he was that graduation everyday talked to every single kid that came through as well number 3 Lauren Paxson 10 P Street there is no link on the agenda for proposed BOE changes I'm not sure what proposed BOE changes you our policy probably yeah if it's policy there are links on there pseudocode a high school teacher the September 25th 2017 minutes reference a donation from the estate of Henrietta's spice near e2 to be given to the high school has the state been resolved what was the amount and what was the donation earmarked for I don't have a clue I we actually just actually just got those funds pretty recently this year yeah yeah yeah did we can I get you the I can get you the dollar amount on

that settlement I'll get back to you on that because I'm not sure Oh give me that give me that the name of the person dr. Gallagher who asked that question Oh sue del conte okay okay sure all right Lauren PAC sententious ten pastries dr. Gallo you state we reduced our secretaries by one who or which position was reduced if I follow the Bo meetings correctly one secretary retired and one was transferred from the BOE offices it's that position so the number of secretaries is the same no it is not the same we reduced one secretary over at the Lamont Lamott annex building so we have only one secretary over there now instead of two okay next one Patricia over at 7:45 schoolhouse Lane who is Richard Malan he sends lots of emails he is one

of the people who does a lot of communications and as a parent liaison or second parent parent liaison and translator for the district okay number seven our packs of 10 pastry why do you need an RFP for aids and subs what is the district planning hoping to do with that well RFP is for sub services we have to send those requests for proposals out legally because of the amount of the contract for AIDS and subs our current contract with insight insight was taken over by another company which triggers us to automatically have to do an RFP to get a new company whether it's that new company that is taking over a friend site or a different company altogether so that's just a legal matter we have to do next one number eight Lauren packs attempt

HP we're gonna find the link to the BOE policy changes because they're not on the agenda again that's the same question yeah I will have to get that if it's just a first reading is that something that will be on as a link or is that that does or does that that goes overboard Lucy right cuz right now they're in first reading right so maybe that's why the public doesn't have until we vote on it yeah at the neck well I would assume at the next meeting then it will become something in it that is right that is prayer my apologies would would it be okay to just miss the policy numbers well we have to list the name of the policy not just a policy number well-well just list and we don't have to

go into detail what's be back changed or not but so when you click on well my son is there it's all public content it says the policy number on board Docs and then as elusive the numbers and titles but I mean it doesn't tell you the specifics the content no yes the numbers are there no the dollars I'm glad isn't it okay Lauren packs in tenth Street ten P Street the number of secretaries remain the same despite the move there was no reduction of secretaries yes there is a reduction of secretaries there's now two in special services and there's only one at Lamont Lamont addicts there's a reduction of one secretary in the district okay so all of our buildings have one secretary there's one for Lamont - in Special Services we reduced one secretary

overall alright we'll give it another minute or so so I don't see any more comments yet just a fast note after the after this open for the public the board is going to vote to go on go into executive session at that point in time the board is going to be in executive session and they're going to adjourn from executive session there will be no action taken after executive session and they're not coming back out in public after executive session so once this once they vote to go into executive session I will be ending this meeting and they will be rejoining a different zoom meeting for their executive session okay we have another comment coming in all right Lauren packs Tempe Street you added a special service secretary and the number seasoned see him oh

my gosh okay we added the secretary in the initial budget but we were adding a secretary in initial budget that we approved then we got cut money after the initial budget was approved and that 1.9 million dollars that was cut we then cut a secretarial position out of the budget we chose to keep the two secretary positions and special services one of which is was the new position and we reduced a position at Lamont come on Alex you Lauren packs and Tempe Street you're rolling your eyes at me but you said you reduced a secretary position yet you still have the same number of secretaries Lauren we proposed a new budget which added a secretary position to the district that was in our proposed budget that was approved by the board in April they approved

a brand-new secretary position to the budget so our secretaries were going up by one in the budget then we were cut after the budget was approved 1.9 million dollars so we had to make cuts out of our approved budget for 1.9 million dollars one of those cuts was a secretarial position that secretarial position that was cut is coming out of Lamont Lamont panik's I hope that clarifies it for you so we added a secretary position to the budget the board approves the budget later on the governor changes the amount of state aid that we receive therefore we had to go back and inmate tops one of those cuts was a secretarial position that secretarial position we chose to cut was one of those positions at Lamont Lamont annex so dr. Gallagher I think what he's

trying to say is who we have there now the number we have now is gonna be the same we have next year because we're not going to fill the new position because the new position got cut but what we did is we filled the new position and cut someone out of Lamont Lamont annex 2 to be over there is that correct you can view it that way yes okay so we're getting rid of a secretary in Lamont Lamon annex putting her in special services because we no longer have the funds to have the extra one that we thought we were gonna get right just like some some positions that that were opened that had been in the budget that were in the budget last year not being filled next year ok let's hope that the
