Uh please >> minutes a motion to approve the minutes from the July 23rd meeting. >> Second >> Mrs. Baldina. >> Yes. >> Mr. Becker. >> Yes. >> Dr. Dambrosio. >> Abain. >> Mrs. Huck. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Walsh. >> Abstain. >> Mr. Wal. >> Yes. Motion. >> Awesome. Thank you. There are no presentations this evening. Uh which brings us to visitors business. Jen or Arie, you are permitted to comment on agenda items only. How are you buddy? >> Uh at this time, we just ask you come to the mic. Arie, couple days before school starts, you got nothing to say? No advice? >> No. All right. Good. We may come back to you though. Any correspondences? >> Yes,

I received a thank you written to the Greel School Student Government from John De Benadetto. Thank you for the technology award. I am very grateful for this. Thank you from John De Benadeta. >> Good. Thank you, Mr. Benadetta. Uh which brings us to committee reports. Uh district operations. Uh Mr. Vitali is not here today. >> We didn't meet. >> No, we did not meet. >> Representative to Manisquan, Dr. Damrosio. >> So, we met yesterday. It was the shortest meeting I've been to at an hour and a half. >> Wow. >> Yeah. They just a few things to note. They the I'm not sure if it's gerine to us or not, but the the elementary school did some re restructuring of their administration. So, there was a new assistant principal hired that we we approved. Well,

I didn't approve, but they approved yesterday. Um, they're wrapping up a ton of their construction projects that they've been working on over a number of years. Um, HVAC completion, a bunch of renovations in the high school. They they I guess they put solar panels on their roof, uh, new floors, and um, something that I can't read my handwriting. That's halfway done at the elementary school. >> They're updating their website. um and they um approved last night their AI policy. So that's something we we might want to look at when we're putting ours together. They also presented their uh board goals. Um so they're looking to in the next year trying to work towards getting blue ribbon eligible um growing their IB program. This is going to be the first year where they have students that

are in their uh international bachelor program. I think they have 16 kids that are that are um enrolled in that. Um they're looking to increase their attendance. Uh they had been noted by CQAC to have an attendance issue. So they had to put an action plan together. Um they're looking to conclude and all of their construction projects and move from construction to maintenance of all the new materials. And then from a technology point of view, they're looking to audit all their current technology to see where they needed upgrades. >> Any questions? Anyone? >> I know we're on that policy for AI. Sean's mentioned it a few times. So, >> appreciate that. >> So, that was the second reading about that one. Okay. >> So, it should be public now if you want to take a

look at it. >> Yep. >> Yeah, I found it in the uh Yeah, I found it. >> All right. Miss Walsh of curriculums and instructions. We did meet. Sorry, we met on Monday. A few of us um weren't unable to attend, but it was Miss Bolstra and myself. We met Monday, August 18th. We had a couple of topics we discussed. The first one was the um something that traditionally has to happen as a formality. We need to approve the code of conduct. So, um after the board meeting, that will be on the agenda tonight. So, the pages 5 through 8 were updated. Um so, we will be approving that. The second topic was the attendance letter. Um, that's a requirement for all school districts. Once there's four to five accesses, you send a letter and

we get that through Genesis, but then it lines up like things that the school is going to work with families to try to get uh the tenants to improve. Just add a few more details into that letter. It had been very short and you know, so there are certain things that we should include in that letter that we did some revisions this summer. Yeah. Um and then our third topic was the grading. Um they they had a liaison committee and they're looking at their honor role. Um how the students for they get the blue and the gold different levels honor high low and they've decided to align it similar to the range of mana squan to align with mana squan so it's consistent. So that um will be updated and then they're really there has

a leazison committee that works to review that. So they were all in agreement. Um the fourth topic was the district goals. They um just like said, you came out something each year. So we have three goals. One goal is to improve the implementation of the new math program. They're going to be getting that K5. So that they have a plan in place to address that. The second one um is the continuation of the goal for social emotional learning to build off of the goals that they had in the past. Um and they have um I think a new grant that they were awarded, the DREAMS grant um that will help provide the counselors and staff members with more resources and more strategies to improve the social emotional learning of students. And then the third goal

is our district technology goal. That's, you know, something we continue to work to. I know they're migrating to Genesis for a lot of the things. So they're looking at always checking out seeing what's um the best use for streamlining technology. And then the fifth topic align to the goals which makes sense because the district then approves a professional development plan and that aligns with the goals. So it's how they going to professionally move those goals forward. So in the professional development plan there's a goal to support the new math program implementation and training. And then the second part it again is the counselors rolling out the social emotional programming and that's in education is good when you have your goals aligning to your professional plan so that everything's working in coherence to move everything forward.

So any questions? >> Yeah more about the honor role. >> Okay. So I looked up our manquan plan for I >> it's just that our numbers didn't line up our ranges. So in Manisquan and A is like 90 to 100. Here in Belle it was 93 to 100. So that and we don't we only put numbers on students report cards but when it goes time for honoral recognition our bar is higher than the sending districts and the teachers had brought that to our attention and kind of felt like we should align with where our kids are eventually going. Um, so this will just make that consistent and you know um yeah I I don't know how it ended up being that ours was our um braid bands were narrower. So even your D is much

and then it goes down and it ends up being tighter and tighter. So >> So still two tiers but >> still two tiers. I was just getting high on roll and regular on roll. Here we do blue and gold. So, we're just mapping out those two tiers, >> right? Be similar for advance. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> All right. Uh HR, that is me. Uh we did meet on August the 13th. It was just under an hour. It was all done by remote and uh Miss Pstra as well as myself, Miss McDevitt, and Miss Huck were there. Uh I do have a brief report. Uh HR meetings are a little bit difficult to report on because of specific concerns to employees and how they relate to students, but we discuss

certain staffing issues related to different levels of student needs. Uh all of which are being approved within this evening's agenda. If you look under HR, it is chalk full with items this evening. Uh we discussed the resignation of the music teacher, Miss Rosen, also on the agenda. And we discussed furthering education for teachers and administration uh in so far as how it would be structured uh for those areas where it is not otherwise part of a contract. That is my report this evening. Any questions? All right. Thank you. That brings us to Mr. Waltman. Policy. >> Sure. Yes. Policy committee met at uh 2 o'clock on Monday uh August 18th. Um so there will be two sections tonight. Uh C2 is the uh second reading of the second trunch of policies that were um found

by Mrs. Pollster and team um that we're getting through that were either previously passed but not properly you know uh accounted for in our books or we may not have passed them. Um so so we covered that and then for the first reading tonight we have a mixture of uh the final I believe third third trunch of of those policies and then we also had a update from July alert 235 from from Strauss SME um from the new policies from Strauss SME these stem uh from changes to New Jersey code uh 6A23A and they deal with um fiscal accountability. So, there are several policies that are being revised to align with new state regulations focusing on fiscal efficiency. Um, and this includes updates to duties of the school accountant, procedures for using legal and professional

services to minimize costs and requirements for internal financial controls, basically two signatures on checks, oversight onto um, you know, more more controls. And then also on budgeting and contracts. So, there's policies concerning budget preparation and the review process uh for administrative employment contracts. And then there's some additional state mandates, um curriculum changes. There's a change to include Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders uh in the history and contributions of the curriculum. Um there is a regarding student health, there is a new policy that will permit students to use sunscreen and sunprotective clothing at school uh without the need for for a doctor's note. Uh there's also one that we're pushing forward for um special education Medicaid initiative. We do not currently qualify for that. We do not have the threshold of students for that, but we are

still going to have the the policy in place. And the idea there is to maximize the revenue from those programs and avoid the withholding of any state aid should we ever get to that to that point. Um, another policy will uh require the district to announce promotion and transfer opportunities to current employees uh rather than just externally. And yes, then finally, there's additional policies that are being introduced for first reading, including those related to the supervision of construction, lead testing in water, um, student enrollment, and personnel records. >> Any questions? Anyone? >> Lot of items there. Yeah. >> Uh that brings us to community relations. Miss Reef is on an awesome vacation with her entire family. Uh I don't have anything personally on a community level. Dave's comment started well that's a part of my

administrative report, but the BF advertised their um event for September 20th um bikes and bikes and um that is should be on its way. All right, Miss Pra, that brings us to your administrative report. >> Sure. So, the first part of my administrative report is documented here in the agenda and that requires us to report out on violence, vandalism, substance abuse, um, weapons and confirmed HIV. So, this captures our incidents for the second half of the year. Uh, for the second half of the year, we did have one HIV confirmed. Uh, we did not have any incidents leading to removal. uh we had one HIV alleged. We conducted two HIV trainings and ran HIV eight HIV programs over the course of the second half the year either for staff or students um in some way

uh through the building. So, um reporting out on that tonight. Uh in terms of other things that are happening, uh our facilities update, we're finishing up the work with the boilers. We were closed for a couple of days for asbestous removal in that area. All of that has gone smoothly. We're back to normal operations. Um, all the cleanup from the courtyard flooding from that downpour that we had um has been completed and those rooms are being put back together. Uh, final touches are being put on the floors and um, it was great this week to start to see teachers coming in to get their classrooms ready. Um, a few of our teachers have moved classrooms. Um so I I really appreciate their professionalism and and coming in early so that you know things are ready

to go for our students on the first day of school. Um administratively over the last month we've started our transition to Genesis as our platform for human resources and payroll. Um Genesis only takes on a certain number of clients each year. So you are ensured that you will have a smooth transition. We do meetings once every two weeks with them. Um, and we're really hoping that, you know, making this transition will, um, you know, enhance some of our processes and protocols. Um, and again, that kind of relates back to district goal number three. Uh, we had our CUSAC meeting with the county administration to review the expectations and what we'll be required to do for QAC coming up this year. We've already started to lay out our organization um, and are starting to collect all

the artifacts and evidence that we need for that. Um, our new teachers came in yesterday. Um, they met with uh, Miss Pearson, Mrs. Panetti, and Mr. Greenfield for an orientation to our school. Uh, Mrs. My Mrs. Taylor will be joining us in math, and Miss Smith will be joining us as a guidance counselor. So, it was great to have them here yesterday. Um, I was out in the morning for a training on some of the changes to the teacher evaluation system. Um, ultimately, there are not that many changes. I think those changes will really come in 2027 when when the law is up for renewal or regul whatever they're going to do at that point. Um, but I wanted to make sure that we got all the information that we needed. Uh, we have our

preK and K orientation next week. We are really looking forward to meeting our new students. It's always such an exciting day. Um, I want to thank the PTO and the teachers for working with us so we can have a nice, um, you know, nice welcome for incoming kindergarteners. Um, we have our PD day on the 28th. We have a variety of activities planned to launch the year. Obviously, K5 math is a big focus, but we'll also be doing articulation meetings. Um, some of our statemandated trainings, some of our trainings for our staff who work with students who have special needs. So, you know, we only have two days this year before the students come instead of three. So, it's it's like, wow, three days last year was like, oh, that's so much. And then this

year, like two is not enough. So, I guess um you know, we we'll make it work, whatever whatever the case may be. Um our parent letters will go out tomorrow, I think. Um, so I just want to remind parents if they haven't already done those forms in Genesis, they should do them because they will not be able to get their children's schedules or class assignments until the forms are completed. So if you haven't checked that, I know hundreds of parents have. So I think we're in pretty good shape, but just as a reminder for that. Um, and then I just wanted to, you know, um, I said the stern community, but the BEF, um, has sent out the first information about their fundraiser, uh, bikes and bites on Saturday, September 20th, and I encourage people

to participate. Um, should be a really great event and I appreciate the board um, who's organizing that, Chelsea Shay and her team um, to get that ready for us. >> Anyone any questions? just on the uh the courtyard. Um obviously it was a very rainy summer, some unusual storms, but um you had mentioned mitigation at some point. What what does that look like right now? >> So I don't know where. I mean, you may know better, Diane, um where the meeting is in terms of Mike coming out and the contract is on the agenda >> to approve for Mike to start the process of engineering, getting quotes, construction work because there are pipes under the courtyard and how the least obtrusive and expensive way to connect to it draw the water away from the building.

Great. >> Thanks, water. It's everybody's enemy. >> Yeah, it is. It is. All right. Any other questions? All right. There's uh no HIV this evening, which brings us at 7:19 to action items. Uh I just want to reiterate for everybody who is not here at uh this evening in particular, August, these action items are huge. There are there is everything from uh sunscreen allowance on here to lead and water to professional development. This is done at the recommendation of the super superintendent and is not done lightly. There's a lot of work that's put behind this. So, uh, if you haven't at home read this or looked at it, uh, tonight is an opportunity to do that, uh, when you're at home because, uh, it is full of items that greatly impact the day-to-day running of

the school and some may seem benign, but all are very, very significant. So, uh, without further ado, Miss Walsh, you move curriculum and program. I'd like to move the items under A1 to A6 for approval. >> Second, >> Mrs. Bino. >> Yes. >> Mr. Becker. >> Yes. >> Dr. Humerosia. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hut. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Walsh. >> Yes. >> Mr. Walton. >> Yes. >> Motion pass. >> Miss Baldina, will you move district ops? >> Sure. I'd like to make a motion to move uh district operation B1 through B7, please second. >> Mrs. Lina, >> yes. >> Mr. Becker, >> yes. >> Dr. Dembersio, >> yes. >> Mrs. Hut, >> yes. >> Mrs. Walsh, >> yes. >> Mr. Walton, >> yes. >> Motion car. >> All right. Mr. Walton, policy, please. >> Sure.

I'd like to motion that the board approves the policies under C1 for first reading and the policies under C2 for second reading. >> Second. >> Mrs. Baldino. >> Yes. >> Mr. Becker. >> Yes. >> Dr. Gambrosio. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Huck. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Walsh. Yes. >> Mr. Walden. >> Yes. >> Motion pass. >> M. Huck. Can you move, please? >> Yes. I'd like to make a motion that the board passes items um under human resources D1 to D4 for approval. >> Second, Mrs. Gold. >> Yes. >> Mr. Becker, >> yes. >> Dr. Gambia, >> yes. >> Mrs. Hut, >> yes. >> Mrs. Walsh, >> yes. >> Mr. Wall, >> yes. >> Motion pass. >> Thank you everyone. Uh that brings us to visitors business where you are permitted to comment on agenda and

non-aggenda items. At this time we just ask that you please approach the mic. Barney chance too, bro. >> That was actually something I had brought to attention last year because it didn't you know didn't seem that the constituting what a C or was so that >> yes Barney you ready for school? officially. >> Yeah, >> you are not. Yes, you are ready. >> All right. Uh, >> thank you. >> All right. Uh, Dr. Dian Brazio, you paid the bills this evening. >> Like to make a motion that the board of education authorizes payment of the bills list for August 2025 and that the secretary is authorized to draw warrants at the treasur and total amount $789,875.38. Second. >> Mrs. Baldino. >> Yes. >> Mr. Becker. >> Yes. >> Dr. Damrosio. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hut.

>> Yes. >> Mrs. Walsh. >> Yes. >> Mr. Wall. >> Yes. >> Motion pass. >> All right. Of course, there's item 13, the board secretary certification by our own great Diane Quigley. Uh, as well as an executive session, which we will not have this evening because there is none. Uh, which begs me for an adjournment. >> Motion to adjurnn. Leave it in. >> All in favor? >> I. >> All right. Thank you everyone. We appreciate it.
