is [Music] appti meeting of Education [Music] Mr flag United States of America stands Nation [Music] January january2 [Music] yes [Music] to work toward impr our students experience improving our performance as District so I just want to share with you some examples of what we've been doing on each of these kind of St taking to en practice our students so the first goal was for us to continue to look at our implementation of our English language arts and math programs and really to determine you know if we are using most effective tools most effective strategies really in helping our students you know be able to perform at gr level so I broke this down a little bit into two separate subject areas we're doing each and then what what is happening in both of those subject
are so I'll start with math um going give you a little bit more detail but before the math committee we're starting to review reports which is research based on certain ma programs weit most and we have multiple samples under riew that we are looking at I just want to talk a little these pieces this is Ed ports they are a nonprofit research group that say um know an analysis of instructional materials and they will give you feedback about whether certain programs expectations in each you know in certain areas Focus mathematical practices and they you know they provide quite comprehensive information so as our starting points we're really only looking at programs that meet expectations for alignment and usability go M which currently use Ines two no longer meets standards for so we really should be
looking to replace that this is our starting point these are commit right out different programs we're looking at at we're looking ature actually looked at K1 being pil in those you want to hear about their experience and I that is the program that we went to see in so you know we've ordered samples from each of these programs teachers who are on the committee are starting to look at them trying out like said we're reaching out to other districts May using them when we have our long faculty meeting which I thank us for on this upcoming Monday we will be meeting with the m committee and some additional teachers go into a little bit of a deeper dive on each of these programs and then what we'll do is we'll either decide which ones really
fit what we're looking for um and ask then reps to come in I don't want to bring in a rep and have you know waste our time we don't need materials so this is just a sample from one page of the evaluation form that we're using and this is only like one exert this is about four page form that looks at a whole wide range of criteria to determine whether or not the program is going to Aline with our expectation so everything from you know the layout is good kids have enough space to write on some of the pages to how well it's aligned with standards you know is getting level of complexity that will allow our kids not just to memorize algorithms but understand conceptually section reviews format and it goes through the checkl
used before you know that's just well teacher resources does it have does it have that are you know so that's where we are with now we are moving forward I'm curious to see now teachers have had samples for a little while they come to the meeting with um and where we decide to so that's a little bit of what's happening with Ma I want to share with some you know decisions that we made and how those things are planning out wej schedules as you know for early ly support show youle that and some additional programming that we put in place for you know not tier one but rather tier two so before you know we go to the most intensive intervention students are there other things we can try before get so we Addam so
here is a sample schedule for one of our interventions what you can see with some of changes that we made in scheduling last year what our interventionist can do see in the afternoon W word study where there are actually two teachers working in that word study period you know m is really such an expert in this area so a couple of times a week she will go in and Co te those word study Foundation lessons with the other teacher and then when is the period that we have for our elementary student called what I need and a lot of that is literacy support and small group you know take one group of students and the teacher will take another group of student and sometimes you know depending upon what students need they differentiate the instruction
and target small groups so because being shifted you didn't have this push in as much we see is here you know that she inter is with mrsi twice a week with three times week four times week for stud and then she's with Miss Sher wi and taking small groups there you know it has just worked very very well um and we really talked about the importance of focusing our energy in that early literacy so that you know feel like our kids are onade level and ready to read um by the time they're getting to third grade level for students to have their proficiency their Foundation the other thing that we've done is we are bringing in three other opportunities for tier two before we go to the most intensive level for our students so at
the lower grades for kids who might still having difficulty in Foundation you know not really um moving along with their peers we're using this fun in Focus you see tier two intervention kit for those early readers that can be done sometimes during wi period sometimes during word study but that those students who are identifi as falling below Benchmark are starting to get those two interventions and then naturally is also something that we are highlighting relatively new it really focuses on fluency and the connection between fluency and comprehension so you know we didn't really have a tool like this we had a lot around decoding and and things like that but re naturally allows us to look at students who um either demonstrate difficulty with fluency or demonstrate difficulty with comprehension and by trying to help
them work on their fluency that can certainly build their comprehension so it's really difficult to understand a text when you can't read it with some kind of a flow so this program works on that with students and going to really closely monitor to our trying this out um I did hear today that one student who came for a few sessions you know some of these kids are coming in before school on their own time which I really commend um for a long day um but one of the students who came in you know they really do start to see their progress with how many work minute they're able to read and then they're starting to connection student I guess because it is showing you the results in real time she was so excited to come
in like okay today I'm going to work for you know so um know this really really new but we did really want to try it um because I think we want to put everything that we can for our kids before we go to anything more intensive and then rewards is another type of program that really is more of a vocabulary based program um so if we're looking at kids who are week there uh we're starting to introduce them to this as an intervention tool and also you know help them work on that skill of reading so by putting in you know with read so complex there's not really you know one side spits all and so what we're really trying to do with the assessment tools that we have with the data that we're doing
work that our interen doing those dat we is really drill down to what is each individual students difficulty and are we choosing the right tool to address it so you know we're excited about this work um you know really hoping that by pulling in and using our datafly we're going to be able to move forward with our [Music] students younger this is go I wanted it very multiple lels and this [Music] is sometimes so a lot of this is [Music] being sometimes push in and P small groups within period done pull out or extra time right now and as we see results [Music] know okay for Botha and M we really look very our evidence State Standards where we we spent the January 17th really looking at our data wejust the intervention schedules in both
push and pull out settings as we saw groups of students have needs or kids who do really well need the intervention anymore and we their schedule and gr two and three were just piloting something called te Rich which I'll talk about so we did spend a day back in the fall really looking at our evidence statements these are internal things that we receive from the state but this just you know and I ask the teachers to give me feedback on form about what notic about their students performance and here's just an example like teachers really dug in and said you know what our kids did really well with this type of question but not so much this type of questions and it makes us kind of maybe we need to more practice with these questions
the other thing that was interesting in some of this I didn't choose this quote per se but the Math teachers for example noticed our kids did really well with these skills but maybe not so well with some we did in the beginning of the year so let's make a conscious effort to keep spiraling back so that you know they Contin have to transfer and keep their you know keep those skills so you know teachers really look at theying at doing am all right so ring Rich this is something I mean I have a five minute video here um we don't need to watch necessarily but after unit assment you know we have mosts right so what we teach in Rich I've asked the teachers to do is sit as an entire grade level and look
at your students are there students who exceeded standards students who met standards students who just approach the standards and as an entire grade level can you sort those kids into three groups then let's take one of our win periods maybe in the end of the week and let's decide who's going to teach a challenge lesson for the kidsing on that assessment who's going to maybe do you know some level of challenge for the kids who met standard and for the kids who approach but weren quite there what can we do as a lesson to kind of right and really the second and third grade teachers have done this a couple of times now I'm asking them to do a little bit more fre but you know in my mind you know you're getting tget instruction
based on student needs you know often times you know you get um you know a test back you didn't do well but we're still going on to the next chapter right so where can we stop and pause and then T that instruction so that students have an opportunity to really correct you know or get extra support on and it's also an opportunity for students to interact with others beond home you know kind of that hey once every or two times a month we're going to get mixed up we're going to be different groups get to have different teacher and just have a little bit of a different experience um so you know teach have flexibility sometimes might do assment might do it after maybea writing writing pie kids are group them into these three groups
so we're trying this out um I get feedback from the teachers and we just figured it's another way for us to try to reach all of our students where they are and so District r two was for us to [Music] enh this year so as we're moving forward with this Mrs created an classroom room and she regularly includes resources that teachers can use morning meeting and zones of Regulation our counselors have also been pushing in lessons um here's an example of you know something that was given to our students about going into 2025 what are some things that they're grateful for what do they want to do to stay in green zone what can they do ready if they're going toward the Red Zone um you can also see is called collect information from the
teachers um about what their needs are and how things are going that you know with Mrs benetti here she started few initiatives that have been very positive in addition to code ofct she's come and talk to everyone about but you know we just had our fall your pep rallies those have been really well received by our kids um this started laser of the month which has been very well received as well um we've always had book buddies you know but that is something that continues our leaders even some of them have been giving up their resets and always work with younger grad this year so you know we continue to look for things um that make our kids feel connected to each other and really know recognize them for great things they're doing um every
day [Music] and then District goal three was for us to look at our use of Technology tools how can we increase efficiency enhance organization the tools that we have you know are we using them to their full potential so a few things that we've been doing through professional development we've been using our curriculum platform um with some additional aspects that come with it that we using before so teachers are using a lesson planner this year and they also are adding formal assessment into the platform this is more internal for us to see but if I'm in this actual program I would click on this and it would show all 18 lessons so far that have up into that module and then here these would open as PDFs that show us what the exact assessments are
and show you so these are new things that we are adding into our platform um and it will allow us to really get a good look when this is done with Fidelity which standards to over and over and over again and then which standards are we missing because all of thiss back to all of the standards that the state expects us to teach and we that show which andely L I talked a little bit about this but you know that our benchmarks to really dig into Data as I shared with you earli andul tool that we have that isn't necessarily used by as many people as could be only because I don't think people really what it so you know and Mr Man a presentation at fa meeing about all the things that vocabul do
and you know and still you know we have to think about know if it's not used enough right what benefit there so you know really trying to maximize people's understanding of these tools how they use students so that we make decision and lastly we're expanding our use of Genesis um parent reporting of student assen this year which is cut down on phone calls in the office and you know hopefully make it a little easier St in the morning laptop desk the tenants at meetings rather trying to pass the paper everybody sign I just attended a professional development really helps me on the Genesis side of scheding to learn more about features and we're also using the conduct year to report in so we're Mak good progress um you know we continue to have a great
team here um know all our staff are so cooperative and interested in helping us meet and question yeah we would like to we would like to adop for next year so where we are um we're renewing licenses annually um so that is in the budget we have to DET about how many at a time we can manage to do this for um so it'll come down a little bit to the financial side of things but I also think we have to be careful with how many change at a time professional development people kind of learning a program first year too many grades at one time it tends to be lot so I think I will take feedback from the on that and I will work on the finances of that um [Music] I think it
depends on thetime the classroom teacher is really decisions but if she know she has know let's say coming on Thursday obviously or interventions might those all the other kids are working on you know so yeah it is fible we talked a made decision about whether we designate certain winds for literacy Other M so I don't know that's something we really hard it this year all the way through a lot of times in so I really want to get some feedback from the staff yeah and get about whether it should beated that way or should thank you thank you [Music] rep [Music] was [Music] we we have he [Music] thanks our district is [Music] very should we should be good [Music] did we we we we did receive a TR [Music] very much we [Music] have
we have to wait see [Music] Mr experience [Music] so they they um they went over some of the projects things that they're doing doing [Music] some that they also their mid their gos um I don't know how much detail you about this not um their Bo number one was something about development I my here um so they they're implementing some new new PD methods their strategic planning with their second goal um they have a fiveyear plan um that they're they're kind of seeking Community hours right now to see over the nexts see what they is for the next five years for the high school um number three I don't know if everybody's aware thatal [Music] uh so I think this is the first first group of kids that they're they're kind of pioneering to see
about getting kids to do that they went on they went on a trip to was how which has [Music] a there's a lot of excitement around that in addition to other other program they have there um they also also yet were they um also have repl schology specifically at artificial intelligence they're that they have a committee that's meeting and is going to present their their um their findings and their recommendations for the you know the use of AI integration in the school May this year so they do that I'll share that with everybody there was a buch of students [Music] thank you question [Music] thankk BR HR me uh we did meet on the 17th a brief meeting for about a half hour Adra we discussed HR issues issues as well as but they U
focused around family policy [Music] District [Music] we also discuss other St planning [Music] Eng support subjects by the [Music] Adra Mr is [Music] March and all the Poli [Music] all right [Music] so again is now sponsorships uh different all that information is available on website um and they are actually having a meeting tomorrow night um to help uh for committee for [Music] the get inp on really fundraiser thater um PTO a lot going on they also have a meeting here 7M next Thursday um they've got the sow for girls and I gu event for boys I [Music] gu chols are class [Music] and radar um is actually uh Miss B is representing our tonight at man for meeting doing a trans specifically to help students who get special resources and [Music] transition for any so
I'm just that will have a lot to share so as usual our partners are for [Music] justat our wrestlers District program C we had 9 Day celebration on Friday would been the first back we really did enjoy last Frid this [Music] Tire [Music] certain Foundation home also follow email and our student up at lunch today where they sat with other students Shar their same birth month not necessarily class and there were you know some conversation starters on the table and [Music] soart registra is open I online [Music] forgot to [Music] mention SCH [Music] there's quite a few [Music] curricul yes yes [Music] yes [Music] yes Mr yes yes this is this is yes this is yes [Music] visitors are to agenda agenda items at this time please state your name and [Music] address thinking [Music]
