people here so we're going to see everything there has been adequate notice of this meeting provided by the Board of Education June 20 22 notice in the co-star setting for the date time in place of this meeting similar notice has been posted in the town hall the Brielle School website and the borough clerk has been notified Mr Becker present president here Mr Melanson this is Reed here Mr Vitale Mr Waltman here and if we can all stand with the flag of the United States foreign meeting yes Mrs Jones yes Dr label yes yes the presentations thank you you know my prediction for tonight's meeting and I'm wrong was that we were going to have the girls soccer team and the boys soccer team with us here tonight so I was wrong girl power this year

tonight I just want to tell you I'll tell you a little bit because some of them could be watching you right now from home you know the boys went two years undefeated undefeated unbelievable two years undefeated they went into the five semi-finals very confident because the next day after the loss I talked to almost every boy on the team and said tell me really what happened and they were very honest overconfident we thought we had this game because we beat this team we knew we were going to be in the championship we knew we were going to win the championship and the other team wanted it more and they beat us and they beat us fair and that's from the boys I was like you know I'm glad you're saying that learn your lesson because

as you move forward eighth graders or even sixth and seventh graders learn your lesson because never be overconfident anytime the girl's story is different the girls are here tonight and I'm telling you when they run I got in my car and I cried for them because here's what happened to them they had a tough season they played their hearts out but they lost they lost to a really really good team same cabinets first time they lost that home it was so close the game was ours we lost they played their hearts out they said we got them next time we go to Orchard Park they didn't play their hearts out but they played strong we lost now we have to go into the finals and these girls are so determined we know we're good we

are such a good team and I see this with them in the classrooms I see with them in the hallways they are leaders in our school and they went to that championship game after let me say we did a pep rally outside and I don't know if it was the pep rally I think it was the girls I know it's your coach but we did a pep rally outside we had old six seventh graders outside and we really thought come on Brielle bring full trophies home you heard the boy's Story the girls show up for a game and the whole time every minute of the game they played their hearts out they played their hearts out I what witness as your parents witness and all the fans that were there because I think every kid

wrote their life to the game right it was hundreds of kids at the game and we've had banners and everything the girls just came playing their hearts out the game ends at a time I don't like that over time double overtime for those of you who know soccer you know what happens after double overtime the thing I hate the most because last year some of these young ladies had this happen to them at Spring Lake Heights double overtime you go into penalty kids and you know I don't like that part of soccer I'm sorry penalty kicks it comes down to penance of kids I don't want my daughter to be the goalie right I don't mind and I don't want my daughter to be the kicker because everybody's looking at you like everyone's waiting for

you to do it for the team and Brielle did it for the team with penalty kicks last year they lost by one in penalty kicks this year they were so determined so strong so United as a team that they did it this year for our school so coach cardamom please come up here because I know [Applause] she always wants a debrief with me because if I miss a game she wants to tell me about it she loves you and you love her so much and you do a lot for your coach but she loves you and adores you but this win was so important for our school it taught everybody a lesson and you know what the boys most of them were all at that game our school was there and they were very proud

that you put on this trophy for us so coach I know you want to say a few other things we have a certificate for everyone but so yes this was a very well deserved win I can't tell you how proud of this group of girls I am for not only their commitment to one another but also to the game of soccer um they gave it their all and as Mrs Carlson said we facing Catherine's in regular season twice uh losing to them both times which for some I might be a deterrent but not for this group of young ladies so they went in determined right to prove themselves on the field and that's exactly what they did and um after seven penalty case which is the game of soccer after five is a lot but

then to go sudden death is uh it takes really mental toughness and that's exactly what they displayed each and every game so girls thank you for such a memorable and rewarding season and you should be so proud of what you did not only for this team but also for the school because I have to say the support that we received not only from teachers Administration parents but fellow students was remarkable and thank you [Applause] foreign [Music] to have students and parents here when we do great things and tonight that's what we're celebrating uh your greatness so we're going to ask you to come up we're going to have our players and we're also um do we have our great school campus here today I see her in her in her crutches racing in her crutches

but when we call you up stay up here because I know your parents are going to want to take pictures uh Peyton Madness Eastman [Applause] I say that Cassidy was along that sealed it for us should I say that [Applause] Marie Gonzalez [Applause] gross healing we're in Holly Kelsey Columbus [Applause] foreign [Applause] foreign [Applause] there you have it the 22 class of 23 soccer champions for this year [Applause] and now girls your coach was telling me that you told them her today that you have a lot of homework and setting to do I told her the board meeting will only go about two hours that if you want to stay and learn about government you can stay but if Hallmark is more important to you and your parents have things to do you may leave

but know that we're very proud of you okay congratulations effects so at this point we'll continue with visitors business visitors are permitted to comment on agenda Heights foreign [Music] so we'll move on to committee reports District Operations today discussed a couple of things we took a look at the tentative surpluses and um but um looks like we're making some Headway in in Saving enough money that our company reserved to ultimately this needs to be done for the next day five years just the status the status from the status of the media center okay still can't locate the cause of the week of the moisture the architecture is going to be pricing now it's a pretty expensive equipment to try and locate that I I forget the terminals um what's going on what's going to try

and use some cameras to put the cameras down the train to see what's up cracks in the drain pipes us unfortunately don't have a resolution we don't necessarily know the timing customer medication as to when that question is start Ed putting out her face [Music] do you have a sense for how much that we are costs I thank you [Music] actually [Music] we have we have to find a source [Music] so we didn't discuss it in the ground hydrating radar aspect of this is supposed to be drill into your cameras when we initially talk about these projects you guys enter to begin with the question was could they investigate that nowhere right so the Brown Line attorney great argumentative the floor company that was there yeah no I know I understand but before we did

that we're going to go to the Crown Country radar okay radar straight [Music] find your corner and today the secrets of the other things that's where the groundhog um do you have a question on item D2 which is the commercial disc operations so this is on the self-assessment it's going to come up in the community meet a year I just had a question [Applause] uh element five c letter c says that we only got two out of three the only two you only have this and that is that we're supposed to have this taking School climate team I mean at least two times per school year is there a reason why we didn't do that I'm sorry this is the self self full self-assessment for becoming grades under the anti-bullying Bill of Rights and this

on the agenda inside the anti-bullying side to self-assessment is four elements of the five indicator C um could you repeat the question why did we not eat at least two times per school year Bruce can be scored two out of three there maybe we can get that as follows yes I see some person will just get involved so much um last night relatively short by Madison point standards parts of the meeting was a presentation of the of the referendum that's going to be voted on the 24th of January and if it's a 13.7 million dollar referendum um and 17 is the is the high school um what's included in the high school um then who was going to be renovated and operated boys and girls a lot the last time the boys and girls were

like um the last time those rules have been updated 1961. that's right important so those are those major major questions for about an hour it was the administration myself Miss Jones Dr Dee Ambrosio and Miss Reese um I did not submit a formal report but as a summary we discussed any health uh curriculum in particular forms um Bridges walk to school day which was highly successful kogad and kindergarten professional learning communities came through eight foundational skills for seventh grade and special education needs as well as the Wilson Reading Program was a well-attended and well discussed meeting and for sure I will have a formal reports committed thank you we'll move on to Human Resources John not last night and pretty much went over there any questions so we'll move on to policy thank you darling

Oh yeah we did meet you back on November 3rd at 4 pm Diane quickly represented the administration uh madella Jones myself as well as Miss Becker and Dr d'ambrosio attend the meeting it's relatively short due to many of the community members attending student conferences there's one major policy of 55 12 which is the third revision to this policy so far this year it has to do with the handling of harassment and intimidation and bullying and the anti-bullying Bill of Rights and has been revised to conform to the new 2022 Department of Education model policy um and in references new case law to provide additional guidance to schools and how to implement the anti-bullying Bill of Rights um a couple of the requirements we talked about previously is that there is now a standardized hit form

which is on our website which is a requirement however we did discuss it as difficult to find do you search functionality has been restored to the website and they're down for a while um so you can find it but there are a couple of hidden Pages there that don't include it and so the recommendation from a committee is that all of our content should be Consolidated to at least one place either under Colin's page which does have a hip section or alongside the anti-bullying Bill of Rights but the form itself should also be quickly found under the parents menu drop down it's a resource a parent should be able to quickly find one of the changes um discusses uh codifying how the parents can submit a grievance or appeal a decision that a hip investigation

involving their student was a GK not to be a hip or how it was communicated and so the policy says that that should go to standards grievance policy that exists in a school that policy is 57 10. and we're just adding a sentence to say that if it's hip it's hip then you can directly submit that appeal of ingredients to the to the Board of Education you don't have to go back through the um through the chain command because that wouldn't make sense that the decisions coming from the superintendent and then you naturally go to the board for appeal um finally following the adoption of that policy we have to submit it within 30 days to the executive County Superintendent the state wants the county to have each District's policy on record with we also

received an update from Diane on the board Doc's progress for Doc's being where we're going to host our searchable policy information you currently do not have any surgical policies published Diane has loaded some uh of the converted PDF documents but they use these are essentially images so you can't search against text in them um and so Diane has worked with Jess uh to estimate approximately 50 hours of her work uh would be required to load searchable docx um at a regular rate and we're recommending that the board approves this request as we continue to sort of need to have our policies and accessible in search of the format that's all Sean any questions we'll see yeah on the 55-12 I know I'm starting on page 27. so I think 24. it's just one half the

district can either choose to proceed by investigating all reports as allegations of HIV orientation to be as a principled preliminary determination I'm just not sure for this packet did you guys choose the one earlier great question yes um we've particular policies this is the second option and so we will continue that it's not reflected in this format but yes thank you Sean any other questions about more jobs related about a little uh off topic but um more dots is is it a yearly that we subscribe to it or gotcha and next we have community circulations um we actually did not get a chance to meet this past month so just briefly I'll note um we do have a from our real coherent Advisory Group um their t-shirts on sale that I mentioned last in the

last meeting so those are available for purchase and then also from the um PDF is an event on the 8th of December and tickets are available for them thorough report next month thank you Sam any questions and so um we created a interim superintendent principal search committee and the committee consisted of Joe Sean and Dr Steve and um so we met October 13th and I sent everyone this report back then but I want to start by thanking Joe Shawn and Steve for all of your help with the intern so attendant principles search it was a lot of work and and I value all of your input so thank you well after um any resumes and um phone calls and interviews um we selected a interim superintendent principal and on this and he is on the

agenda tonight for your approval and so um he comes to us highly recommended very familiar with on our district our area he's a local person and um and he has over 15 years of superintendent and interim so um I hope that the board will be approving time tonight he's sitting in the back and um and Mr Russo I like how you got to work right away and you were helping our parents parents with the seats so um thank you for that any questions or comments so we'll move on to administrations for us and I know each other for over a decade who have worked together um is an outstanding administrator um I've learned a lot from him he's been a long County brand table having circus superintendent in Tinton Falls we've worked on committees together

and I have assured everyone here that John you're going to do an amazing job so I feel so good that the board will be recommending you tonight so and we'll be working together we've already set up dates and he's going to start coming in to go over things to get them ready so it's a smooth transition uh the one thing John and I do have in common we went to the same High School other things we have in common but I don't know go wrong um I have there's no hit reports and I are some updates uh December 3rd is the tree lighting it's not on a Sunday night anymore it's five o'clock December 3rd on a Saturday night the bef as always is almost sold out for their fundraiser on December 8th at the

um boat yard all money raised goes right back to our school as everyone probably knows well over hundreds of thousands of dollars in my 15 years here they have rates to improve things and what are building that our budget could just not sustain so could uh support the PE out there also if you can't meet the function they're also selling raffle tickets for a um so buy a ticket our parent-teacher conferences uh this year as well as last year because now they're in person we've had so many parents coming in and signing up you know they could sign up online they came I'm just so happy how many parents came for in-person conferences uh this year are many of our teachers were booked every single afternoon and every single night uh and uh the final

part of my report is I can't believe I'm counting down days it's kind of crazy but um Monday uh November 14th I had said at the last board meeting about walking to school we made a little change and I thought the change was wonderful on our entire school left this building the place uh shut down uh Union Lane and all of our children all of our staff walked to the tennis courts and we celebrated Ruby Bridges walk to school and uh teachers did lessons in their classroom and it was just a wonderful experience for everyone in our building to have that happen building wide the newspaper will be reporting on that tomorrow and that's my report just in the packet we do have a head report yeah but there were notes on here I just

want to add I attended the review today and it was such a proud moment I want to thank you know Administration on they did such a great job and on just organizing everything it was it was it was a little chilly out but it was a great day the the kids energy and and um and it was um and and I have to thank the teachers for all of the lessons that they taught in the classroom um I I have to thank uh Miss love for everything that she contributed to the curriculum and I know that she's been working she's been working on that that for almost you know a year on when um I brought it to administration's attention so I'm very thankful um that that our district participated at such an important important

um so I just want to say um thank you great job any questions or comments all right so um we'll move on to um approving uh the items on Caribbean thank you I'd like to support the motion to move action items D1 through V5 okay yeah yes yes Dr latalia Mrs McDevitt yes yes Mr Walton yes District Operations under the statistic operations I'd like to move the items one and three um Mr Becker yes Dr Campos yet yes Jones yes Dr lebelma maybe a deadline by which you have to submit that self-assessment sure I guess it could be submitted without blood clue I don't know if I went out of sequence noting that but are they kind of why are we getting it passed uh having an ability to have any questions yes correction s

can you submit it without approval you know technically board approves it's a courtesy of showing the board what ourselves I love it so I'll say yes you're welcome this is McDevitt yeah this is B yes today and policy Sean just like the motion to approve uh all policies uh second let's get back there yeah yes Jones yes Dr levalda yes McDevitt yes yes Mr Vitaly Mr wall yes and next is human resources but I'd like to add item 10. which will be Thomas Murphy custodian to replace Gary Bishop the salary will be 31 000 uh for 12 months effective January 1st Joe I'll try this the salary is 31 000. in the six month contract this is 12 months we'll shout out to the contractor sir can we have that contract going to expire for

the others so that would be June 30th okay I'd like to thank your dolly for all the time she spent reviewing the resumes scheduling the appointments please return search you've spent that was a tremendous help so that when Dr robov and myself and Sean were able to connect to move she wanted to attend from the emergency yes get it yes yes this is me yes Mr Waltz yes and we will move on to uh visitors business visitors are permitted to comment on agenda and non-agenda items at this time foreign discussion I just have one thing I'd like to discuss as I've always said on being a board member is a lot of responsibility a lot of time a lot of volunteer work um and a great service to our school and community and so I

want to congratulate uh Kurt Becker and David the approacher for saying yes I'm going to come back with you just for another three years and um so congratulations this honorable work that you do and to Kristen Walsh who will be taking Steve Dr lavala's place as a board member Dr levalda has served as a board member and a superintendent as a minister administrator his children have gone to school here he'll be leaving and he'll recognize him in December by Kristen Walsh congratulations to being elected to the board starting Jack you're welcome [Music] [Applause] any other discussions everything about it a sport member courtesy of Earth's replying is requested in a timely manner I understand maybe sometimes I ask questions that are using or need clarification I would appreciate and ask those so that I don't

have to open up over request to get information on a request I had a number the reason I was asking for the information I requested was that I had multiple families tell me that during the curriculum meeting Health Care meeting they asked questions that that weren't answered and I wanted to see that we had to recreate the questions that were answered and that were asking which were not answered um I really appreciate getting the FAQ up online and the video up online but there were questions that that were not answering um so I wanted to bring that up thank you any questions or comments and uh we're going to um but you know what I'll just say this that um we we found you and and whatever parents whatever questions parents have it's important to

us ually they're questions about your children and that's really important to us and we want to be able to help you in whatever way that we can and um and I think that's our first reaction um to want to help um parents and [Music] um one of the things that uh so I encourage parents um if you ever have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to call the school uh don't don't hesitate to ask your questions contact Administration the superintendent principal and ask your questions one of the things that you know this evening we had a train and it was a roles of responsibility training and there's always something to learn to learn one of the things that I was reminded of uh because I often get phone calls emails from parents and uh my

first reaction is to to serve to help to solve the problem and that's not my role as a board member my role is to then take it to refer the parent the Community member to Administration there's a chain of command that we should follow and that's really important if we want to do our jobs our service problem um but any questions regarding that Health curriculum because we've talked about that for for months it was something that Administration has worked on for a really long time and I think that they did a great job uh there's information on the website um and if there's any parent out there that still has questions about this curriculum please contact UM Christine Crump with Mrs Carlson contact Administration and she'll she'll be able to help you um because we

do want your questions to be answered and and we care about that um so thank you in that I review the questions for purposes of the open response I just wanted to add that I believe all the questions that had to do with curriculum which was the purpose of the presentation where answers there were other questions that went into other legal issues and other you know commentary on whether it was advisable or not to have such a curriculum those some of them were touched upon but I don't feel like in terms of I know that there's a representation some questions were advancing that's true they weren't but as I understand that these private questions were put into a traffic chat and then the presenters answered the ones that related to the curriculum so I just

didn't want anybody to think that there were questions about the curriculum per side that worked into at least in what I reviewed in the documentation thank you no congratulations yes yes [Applause] welcome to Brielle okay I'm sure yes also I'd like to you know he's on our agenda for another daily for student teaching just English you know wish you luck in here thank you diversary foreign [Applause] [Music] so we're gonna move on to payment of the bills listed by the secretary is authorizing to draw Waters of the treasury 539 000.37. two cents I decided to have Mr Speaker yes yes this is McDevitt yes Mr Miller yes this is great yes Mr Vitality Mr Walker yes and there will be no executive session held this evening after the conclusion of the regular action board meeting

so there's this I'll second that is you're welcome thank you [Applause]
