this meeting provided by the board of education march 18 2021 notice and the co-star setting for the date time and place for the meeting similar notice has been posted in the town hall the brielle school website and the borough alert has been notified can you please call the role individuals hi um can i have a motion to approve the minutes of the july 21st 2020 regular public meeting yes um [Music] thank you for your concern my family thank you so much um good to be back uh yes today we had a kindergarten orientation with 44 kid partners and new student orientation 20 students we've had a very very busy summer preparing for the real world of school and so i will talk about that in my administrative report but one of the things we did

um this school year especially during these trial times is from kindergarten to eighth grade we love turned our student progress using my ready we would test kids in september again in january in the final of june and one of them to put on the website tomorrow that i just wanted to share with you um i'm not going to go grade by grade what you want me to but the overall results is when children return to school [Music] uh midway go first week were the midwife scores and then the final scores were uh are the grade scores and teachers use this diagnostic diagnostic tool to help them inform decisions to their practice where kids are weak when they are strong we look at the whole grade level where we're not focusing enough on the same fractions

in them comprehension and reading but what we found and as parents you should be happy to know more importantly as the board of business has been our focus as a board that the academic uh results by the end of the year is we have seen significant growth at every single rainbow and um and where we didn't see that growth where there are pockets we have made some decisions this summer in our curriculum on areas that we're going to have to focus on but you know many people talked about our schedule and you know our schedule i think you know was second to none we got children in every single day you know we provided them with rich instruction and when you look at where they were when they came here in september and where they

finished in june as a board you should be very proud of the hard work that she just did the commitments education that our children have and moving forward we know what we need to work on and that's why this summer one of the new programs that we're going to be bringing into our school is called um which means what i need now and so i'll use first grade as an example has three teachers when they have a win period and it will happen once a week for every grade level k3 when they have a winning theory we're going to divide that group up from groups of three which in first grade we have about 16 students in class we're going to bring in at least five professionals because now we have a math interventionist and

reading interventionists and others so we're going to bring that in and break our books even into smaller groups so that we can address the needs whether through enrichment activities or remedial activities on grade level activities or certain skills that they need and we feel that in probably five to six weeks those things will change and so that when those groups change the skills that they're working on will change so we're very excited to be introducing that to our children and then at the other grades we have scheduled into their uh schedule g t classes for students and we are going to be pulling sometimes kids out of some of their special classes and addressing those needs too uh through our curriculum in the special areas in the beginning of the year we're going to administer

to all students it's a cognitive test it only takes about 45 minutes to administer it will give us some information as well as we're going to administer in september [Music] been doing whether it's foundations and readers workshop writer's workshop math workshop but these are going to be added programs to our for our kids so that our children uh you know will be getting uh more of the things that we think that they need the other thing that will happen and this is not just part of our branding but our children will change classes they'll move from classroom to classroom they will go outside they will talk about that and they're looking forward uh they will eat outside every day as long as the weather is great so that they can get outside and i think

that will help with their social emotional development because we know children as well as teachers are coming back with a lot of anxiety and we want to meet those needs of those children when they come back but this is for of course if you when you go through and look at it whether you're looking at first grade second grade third grade math or ela you will always see that the majority of our students are performing at or above grade level and the children that are two grade levels or below the number of students at almost every grade level i have the numbers here and the chairman or all under um are all under ten and so as a as a team or no [Music] of that population has an iep we are aware of that

um in fourth grade we will have um two classes with a special educator in both those classrooms the third class will have a baby so in the fourth grade you'll be two professionals in every fourth grade classroom to meet the needs and there's only um 18 students in those classes to so have 18 students and two professionals in that room we think we will be able to provide a very rich instruction for the students as well as giving them the tools that they need whether going to math interventions or reading interventions at the same time as delivering our curriculum so um we are having [Music] and we'll continue to look at our growth and teachers will use this data to perform their own practices we've been using already now for four years and it has

really helped us as a school district the second thing i wanted to share with the board is everyone here is a look at um 21.22 school year and so let me begin by saying last year we did a lot of wonderful things our day will begin at 8 10. every 10 children can enter the building similar to last year at a 10 all pre-k k and 1 will enter through the sirena theater pre-k will go into the pre-k door first kindergarten in first grade will enter the east side of the theater door safety patrol and teachers will be there to them their class will group second third fourth and fifth graders will enter through the library they will go directly to their classes sixth seventh and eighth graders will enter these doors right here if

you have multiple children the youngest child's door wins so if you have a first grader and sixth grader the first grader and the sixth grader enter [Music] the first grader gets in their classroom and your sixth grader knows exactly where to go so families with multiple children the youngest child wins i tell them that that's the door that everybody wasn't doing each quest in our building on our schedule is 40 minutes long and so matt and literacy are 80 minutes old every day uh for parents the arrival time as i said is 8 10 and pick up is 3 o'clock it used to be 3 10 305 now it's three o'clock um we have we have arranged for additional staff members to be at those entrances as well as people from the childhood city team

the classroom teachers uh k through 5 will have two teachers in the classroom the children are wrong when children arrive and report to their classroom they'll be an activity for them to do we will move into the morning meeting okay we will have morning announcements every morning meeting and our morning announcements is the tv studio and then we begin our day with our period one class currently we are planning a before and after care program and i'm going to keep advertising this because the number of people enrolling is very very low [Music] this program has to be self-sustaining and so i'm going to advertise because i think parents are very busy this program is a very reasonable program run by our staff and professionals so we really want to see this program happen because we

believe it helps parents the only thing i can think that may be working against us this year because we've had this program um soon after i got here the grants minnesota program that the school ran and we've had every year [Music] my rotations i said my guess is we're going to have these programs um [Music] uh as much as possible you want children eating episode and so even in november even if it's a little colder jacket we go outside and leave and then they can get involved and play as quickly as possible in the classroom children in k through 3 will have a snack around 10 o'clock and i remind everyone it's a healthy snack that children will have um at lunchtime if they're going outside they will have their lunch outside and right now

parents are going to be asked to broadband their lunch our cafeteria service went under we no longer have their service so we have informed the state that um for any of our children who are free to reduce loans we will provide that for them for everyone else probably till january we will have um we will have asking parents that they provide a lunch for them and so we did a great job this year and it was excellent this past year and i hope this year um we hang in there until january until we have a group of services all uh three children will go to specials they will go to the art room they'll go to the stem lab they'll go to the library they'll go to help in pde so it will be a

normal day those grades they travel with their teacher to those designated sites but they will be traveling throughout the day um they also have spanish came to three children or go to a science lab mr yi is their science teacher so we have science lab kindergarten through third grade so that's a day in the life of a third grader i wish i was a third grader and then i said before they will also be exposed one day to the winning program what i need now a day in the life of a fourth or an eighth grader is similar but fourth grade i have teachers that are highly qualified to teach literacy reading math science and social studies so in 4th through 8th grade children will travel to those locations they'll come with their math instructor

their reading instructor science lab and social studies in fourth and fifth grade science and social studies is the same instructor in sixth seventh and eighth grader they have a social studies instructor or a science teacher again at those grade levels they will have similar to k through 3 they will have health and pe stem they will have art music [Music] what happens in k-3 that we will have seo classes social emotional time for children to talk from that move to morning announcements again produced by our children and done every single day and then they will move into their you know normal schedule again for them eating outside will happen every day peanut-free tables and climate weather we have to eat inside there'll be peanut-free tables in here and if they go outside they'll be peanut

contains outside the outside tables will be designated by the color of the umbrella on the inside children will appear to retain and our experience with peanut children there's always friends that want to eat them it means not having to take another jelly sandwich that day or having any kind of peanut butter there's always plenty of children eating a pretty peanut-free table we plan on we'll be doing this tonight offering extracurricular activities for our students so in the full we'll have cross country stop and field talking in the winter we'll be playing basketball and wrestling and the spring we'll have a track team with peaceful team with social teams pto has organized fall spring and winter enrichment program after school tuesdays wednesdays and thursdays bring the chess club back the yard club we plan on doing

many things for children after school because it's a great service for them for their social emotional and for parents having our children stay in this building is a very safe place for them to be from three o'clock three o'clock to four o'clock we'll also have student government teach production studio and safety patrol as i said [Music] and you know if a teacher never comes up with new ideas for clubs we always welcome that and um that's why our pto in richmond comes up with this every year that teachers come up with creative ideas but they know things that kids want to do so it really comes from the students on what they would like to do in their school and then finding the teacher who wants to live in that program our music program is

back we'll have instrumental music from fourth grade to eighth grade we're very excited about that last year retirement grady and this is two brand new music and art teachers that are full of great ideas for the school year so our fun and performance program i'm really excited [Music] um we are still talking about filling out that daily uh symptom report parents should never send children to school and we don't have that problem here occasionally in the morning the child comes in with a fever and keep them separate it happens but keeping children home when they're sick is the obligation of the parents so it's keeping all of us safe and healthy um the other things that we get uh all staff students and visitors in the building um uh the administration and the health stand

at braille work closely with county regional health commission to monitor treasures and raise our external staff you know [Music] so we are ready you know to open our buildings we have a full staff um currently right now shared with some board members that in the last few weeks i've interviewed many but had planned to hire three different aides all of which taken teaching jobs elsewhere there's a big shortage of teachers throughout new jersey throughout modern county i have my teaching staff in place currently i i do not have two teacher fees and at the high school i have to supply three teacher aides for their life skills program right now got the resignation of one person late this afternoon took on a job so i'm looking for that before the school year so it's only

only three days one for the high school and two people that i'm looking for but as far as the staff you know we're ready to open the building [Music] um [Music] i recommend that we just do one release form and that's it um parent signs off on at the beginning of the year like they do back to school genesis right and then if you could add that in there just saying that i will not send my child to school if i have all these symptoms and then i think that would cover us for the year instead of the daily symptoms [Music] you brought up lunch um two things just to clarify so we're nuts free classrooms but not enough free school correct so they can have nuts in the cafeteria and outside but just not

for snack within their classrooms [Music] and not afraid in a classroom because of the small environment but outdoors and then here we can keep our children that are not about our food service provider um i maybe talk to the pto or some other organizations to do some fundraising lunch ideas maybe also pizza one day or i don't know another local restaurant maybe just that we could have some type of hot lunch sometime through i know we talked about this years ago to do that so maybe we could bring that up again it doesn't help until our food service provider starts in january [Music] give our children better food healthier [Music] clarify chris is um the before and after all that information has been on the website correct and can you please send out another email

tomorrow reminding everybody of that okay all right thank you uh um just for clarification the doors that the kids are going to be coming in is that the same one that we were doing last year except for second and third grade came to the side entrance right here fourth and fifth came [Music] and can you just clarify what exactly happened we didn't have enough time to get to get it started we have somebody through january right now [Music] news i think um there was a busing shortage so for our sports parents are going to be required to take what they did last year take their children to the sport events because busing is a real issue here in london county um we've got 36 parents that ate in blue that go to private schools right

now and it's all because b1 is states that uh there was not enough time to block foreign [Music] last year those were the only two that [Music] um why it's an emergency can you tell everybody is [Music] if [Applause] earlier in january he's been here a few times just can't do it um overall you know good trend to see how many students came in below grade level above grade level but especially and you mentioned the fourth grade class but especially in the fourth and up grades quite a few students that are end of the year are still one grade level below and i was wondering if you had any insight into that any indications that you know why that why that um this is not an excuse but with upper grade students when you're getting

them at the end of the year i really can't listen so they just rush right through it they don't try they don't care and as much as we encourage uh we know who the children are and we know how they perform day in and day out because we have that data whether it's chapter tests or benchmarking but some of that already scored is those who just refuse to very little guests go [Music] you know and so some of them and then those who we know are lower not so much when you say this is a state test but i'm ready i did this one already no we have to do this is the final score we want to show how much you learn this year and as much as teachers encourage sometimes some children are

just they're at spent lead access the marketing period grades and everything to try to find those outliers if necessary did those students make up this different portion of the invitees because the children that did not do well there we set that up to all those families and i have to share with you that over 50 of the families that got letters said no for one reason or another i'm having a tutor come to my house i'd rather not have them come to school um my child was spent i'm not worried about it but over 50 we averaged our classes that was a free program this summer uh we averaged six or seven in class so they got rich instruction by more professional teachers here but for those who said no we're going away too you

know you're offering this program for the month of july and we're bigger too two weeks i'd love to beat them but i can't so even the parents that cared it was just interfering with their stem two other questions what is the threshold to make the aftercare program happen is there a certain number that we need to get to from 11. um we talked you know dawn and i were just talking about that today what is my number that i run because it's not a budgeted program what is my number so to pay a teacher to run the program to pay for you know paraprofessionals to assist in that program what is the number that i need and uh dawn i just asked for that today what is my real number that i need to know

i can run this program we don't know the number and um sorry last question on the covered protocol it says that you know positive cases or close contact 14 days [Music] whatever the new protocol is if they're wearing a mask and i'm sitting it has to be that 15 minutes or so since we're wearing masks we believe our team will be probably zero because we're wearing this we're never going to be next to one another for more than 15 minutes so i think the quarantine that we live through and the quality that we're going through is going to be very different sure my question is if a student is made to quarantine what is the are they live in the classroom like we did last year i believe that the legislation was changed right now

we're not and we'll just have it as sick days will that go against their limited number of sick days that they're a limited allowed especially when you're out sick like this or they're hospitalized you know you know we've worked with families like that uh the number that goes against our school report card is the number of children the children that have excessive you know they go over the city it's just like in high school 15 to 20 days out of school randomly that's what hurts our report but things like this [Music] when they're out or hospitals [Applause] a lot of information all right moving on on our agenda visitors business visitors are permitted to comment on agenda items only at this time tonight okay great correspondence this charity on to committee reports finance ted uh

dennis and mark here tonight uh current curriculum there was no curriculum meeting this month report uh mr terry can we add uh our contractors prior contract to the new jersey school boards and new jersey public employees relations commissioners new jersey per public employees relations commission yes have a community situations meeting uh it was on august 11th it lasted well over an hour and it included myself stuck with the embarrassio and mr walter as well as press we discussed much of what was part of chris's presentation i ready and we encourage you to uh take a look at the website to get that information we discussed a little bit of a follow-up on the gifted and talented program which we reported on last month we discussed live streaming and the job mr slater's done and then

we discuss this which most of you and because he's well respected everything he's ever said to me i found very incredible i listened after the end of much discussion debate dialogue [Music] in that letter it included frustration it concluded community denied it was a basic follow-up to the previous letter and if you'd like to say and uh although i have not submitted an official report and have my notes here i promise you i will do that before thank you kurt board members any questions for her okay great uh chris administering your report well i started off the beginning by um the building we spent a lot of time this summer like we do every summer preparing for the school year in classrooms paying offices shine floors the lighting project is finished when you walk out

the store and look down the hallway i've never seen that hallway look so bright and beautiful that's our center hallway and the one hallway that goes down to the fifth grade um there are my majority of social studies in the concrete math class that lightning project is done for our whole school this led lighting new ceiling tiles if i could throw in ceiling tiles i don't know if you noticed when you walked in because you will have to look up about a pto ceiling project we have 160 families submitting ceiling tiles done by children and when i tell you when you leave here today um if you did one or if you didn't do on the ceiling tiles look amazing uh the messages that children wrote about tiles the artwork that they did with the

tiles it's in the main office and throughout this whole little hallway my estonian staff led by jorge did an amazing job i said and she laid tile because he spaced them out it's just a beautiful mosaic of the artwork of children it just says so much about our school so please check that out because not only having new ceiling tiles and lighting the children work is what children will notice when they come back they will not notice that the holes are brighter and get them delighted grow up since that children will just notice how beautiful and how inclusive so new furniture has been moored some arrived some are still waiting for uh because furniture like many things you're experiencing in your own home is now instead of two weeks or four weeks it's you know

eight weeks twelve weeks out uh but it's been ordered to get it in we just have to be patient like we've all heard today so i'm just really impressed with the amount of teachers um close to 80 of my teachers have been in this building more than two days and this is on their own preparing their classrooms for the next school year and you know many people say the teachers have a great they have a whole summer i share this often with the board and the community that our teachers put in a lot of hours planning and preparing for the new school year but the classroom is both magnificent i am so impressed with what the classrooms look like by the dedication of our teachers we've hired many people because we lost people in our

budget we need an additional special ed teacher and so in every grade level except for first grade and second grade i had an icr setting which means an in-class resource which means a special ed teacher working collaboratively with a regular teacher in the classroom so we have that at a grade level we have resource rooms we have a special ed teacher dedicated to delivering wilson to many students in our school our speech teachers are ready our root room is ready you know like i said we are ready and prepared curriculum writing has happened this summer a lot of it still we've done some revisions to our report card we've made a decision to move from four more periods to three marking periods trimesters it gives the teachers more time working with students so they can

give parents more information so every 60 days you'll get a report but intermittently you will get a progress report which the teachers have updated and like i said today i use teacher orientation many parents here have listened to me and i've been around for a long time the communication that you've had with your child's teacher is critical for their development as well as giving teachers information about your summer quarter so that communication is very important i will stress with the staff they return to school three days prior to when we have children here we call professional development days it begins next wednesday thursday the following tuesday that they will we will be working together to prepare children to come back into this building and communication is key and that's what we're um some of the

things that we're going to be talking [Music] that work that we've done this summer has been pretty comprehensive uh moving trimesters revising report cards in our master schedule we have several teachers work on it so it's not just something mrs carlson says here's your schedule uh mr samuel can work collaboratively with our teachers so that we develop a schedule that is very comprehensive and that meets the needs of our children lunch periods stay the same as we've done in the past um sixth seventh and eighth graders have that first lunch period when they're thirty uh eighth graders speak first six and seventh graders play that second period begins around 12 17. first and second graders eat first kindergarteners go out to play 20 minutes we switch 10 dollars each playing the flying [Music] to teachers

i don't create a schedule for you i create a schedule for children that makes sense for children and um and they know and understand why we do something like that so we're very excited about the hard work that's put into that so our master schedule as as your educational leader the master schedule reflects what i believe in education to be important and this schedule for children reflect the needs and what children mortality to be successful i shared with anybody parents today today's kindergartner is the class of 2030 in eighth grade and i don't know about you but i don't know when they're in 8th grade what this world is going to be like and what they're going to need but we have to be as progressive as possible preparing our children for 2030 those like

kindergarteners because today even for an 8th grader five years from now over 70 percent of the jobs that exist today and seventy percent of their jobs that we never even heard of before that's how quick our global world is changing but as educators we need to challenge and prepare our children for 21st century skills and that's exactly what we're doing and that schedule reflects that one question um faculty will be in person correct yes so thank you so back to school night uh we're going to for the health and safety of everyone we're going to have three back-to-school nights so from southpaw to the multiple kids [Music] a three four five night and a six seven eight nine is what we decide that we're going [Music] so the 23rd that's a thursday i will get

that out to you k12 the following tuesday is probably the 28th okay tuesday is 3 4 5 and then that thursday is 6 7 thank you dave you probably do but that's how it looks back to school night tuesday 3 4 5 thursday 6 7 our calendar our master calendar that you get is almost complete because we try to put all the things that are happening through the pto booster club or plays we try to uh wreck on the rec program and stuff we'd like to put in as much information about calendar so that helps you so that's going out to press very um soon item mr becker for human programs i'd like to put forth a motion this evening to move action items a1 through a from [Music] syllabus for item a3 the second

one a webinar entitled demystifying critical race theory and how to cultivate it um i know that was not available but i wanted to ask about that in a particular course great question that's a great question you know because we hear a lot about crt i know people even in this community saying mrs carlson's going to grant federal dollars and teach crt here in school you know i know all that's out there um so we were encouraged as superintendents here in london county to go to this webinar because people are going to ask you about crt because there's a lot of misinformation out there a lot and so um i'd like to send you some of the highlights of this webinar unfortunately for me at the time i could not attend but i haven't gone it's

you know my two hours but i've spent some time looking at it and the misinformation that's out there it's mostly leveled at the universities not even high schools and definitely not elementary schools but in general they're in general cpt is committed to social justice and eliminating racism [Music] we need to uh raise and racism must be about analyze across different disciplines psychology sociology science and social studies so but this is starting at crt is starting now at the college level and over time we'll work his way down so we needed to have some answers about the crt because i have never heard of it it came back through the media and i was like teaching you know white people [Music] a lot of it is demystifying it so people you know you know relax the

people who are a little you know taking back that we're going to start teaching the crt is [Music] know about it ourselves this professional development gives her an opportunity to answer if anybody has questions but the long term of it is it doesn't have a place in elementary education [Music] you know there was one part of the webinar that said harry tubman was born when thomas jefferson was president when she died ronald reagan was alone and people say that that was 400 years ago so there's misinformation that's out there that we need to clarify at the accomplished level so when they're working with people they're going to be teachers here are some of the misinformation that you may have received someone's really [Music] mom of counting ground tables that's what came up that you know

we're going to be asking these questions and we have to speak intelligently and so we can if we don't understand what this is all about so i'll learn [Music] moving she simply was taking the opportunity to be able to inform herself not through a google search but really take professional development to say this is what it is and this is why as your leader that's my job to keep educating myself so that i can do a better job educating teachers so teachers do a better job can you call the role yes no okay uh finance okay um any questions motion but i would say yes or edit that it was provided from a previous rfp okay why don't we just strike the line right strike them up [Music] all right yes nothing under buildings and

ground receiving nothing our policy uh dave personnel i'd like to put forward a motion to approve items great join the second i'm the second there want um [Music] all right so um the motion will be through for e1 through e14 okay and kurt you still second yeah for sure we're just removing head slater building used from e1 yes okay visitors business visitors are permitted to comment on agenda and non-agenda vital items at this time um first off i just want to thank the board for putting the letter out for talking about to push this issue along because this isn't going to be the last one and i think we need to keep pushing back and bring as much back here as we possibly can so thank you for the lord for doing that appreciate it

rich to that specific point uh it was offered by karen's contributions by sean and uh cam specifically led off with that that hey we've done this we've done it to the best of our ability in which we were evolved we were you know congratulated graduated allow us to continue i believe that's the second part so yeah thank you for watching i appreciate that um secondly uh just we could get some clarification on the quarantine policy for the year i was the current understanding my child is exposed to a childhood test positive how my child has to go get a test wait for the test and stay isolated for how long even if he has no symptoms and gets a negative result i can speak to that that's within the uh road forward plan there's an

exemption at the school level for those of you that don't know i'm an administrator in another district i'm also on this board so i know to go forward playing pretty well at this point there's an exemption that in a school as long as all the children are wearing masks if a child becomes positive and he or she is the only child that's born to be dead at that time all the other children as long as they're aware of the mask are not quarantined at all and that'll be the policy going forward that's a cdc exemption also authored by the njdoh as well so that's a school k-12 exemption at this time and we're following that yes unless it changes thank you thank you any other visitors business at this time here questions for you um

last year with a child got sick or had or not segment like symptoms [Music] go to the doctor no matter what i could take okay so my understanding of the language is specific to that regard is that the former wrote forward or diploma plan call for the student must go get a copy test a new language the student who should go get a corporate test so each district will then have to just have to use their discretion in determining that but should is different than must and should we say the doctor says that's what we're saying uh jessica brielle um to add to that so my daughter has really bad seasonal allergies so this week she say she's sneezing stuffy nose coughing and she gets sent home and the doctor gives her a note and

next week the same thing is she going to get sent home again every week for the same thing it's really hard to talk and what ifs we have to deal with that with our school nurse as well as with your doctor moving forward and if that means that your doctor has to tell our school nurse that your daughter has allergies and this is the symptom that's between you your doctor and our school nurse can i get that preempt like now saying that she has that [Music] is an awesome [Music] position [Music] it seems like we're definitely leaning towards the more impressive approach this year hopefully hopefully it stays that way more i would um on the front of the side the quarantine i think we've got to do everything you can do these kids here

and just like this happens you're doing it's a great job appreciate that we can keep that government really speaking um [Music] are they wearing this full day did they take it off at their desk we are not using the plastic dividers students are now about six feet apart and three feet apart at all times when they're inside the building moving around the building they must wear their mask if they're having their snack they're not wearing a mess if they've had physical activity and i'll explain physical activity in the classroom we do brain breaks in a classroom and a brain break they get up and they have the dance get the wiggles out they will remove their mess as they're actively engaged if they're doing something active but if they're sitting at their seat they must

wear their mask if they have to go to the bathroom and have their mask on to go out to the hallways when they get to gym of course they must unlock because they're engaged in physical activities and next breaks will happen if the child needs a break teachers know how to do that we'll be discussing them in teachers so they will just like we did last year [Music] as many as breaks as they need please encourage your children to ask for it if they need it you know teach them that at home you know we all have to be in this together and communicate together with their teachers um [Music] is [Music] if your child's doctor writes a note and our school physician says because they'll be in consult and our school doctor says yes

i [Music] uh [Music] you know i know you know we have mostly very very good parents but we do it up here and so that's why i have to protect your child culture thank you [Music] and i know this class is much smaller than the typical class and their guests are six feet apart or further 10 feet apart whatever the magic number is is it possible that they don't have to play from when sitting and maybe just put them on transit only because they're just having a um [Music] around that classroom [Music] um [Music] even at the high school um health class health class fairly new to me i hear talk of what is being taught at the surrounding districts and i wonder if i can get a copy of the [Music] great thank you

[Music] though i mean as everyone's expressed concern here wearing these six hours a day probably children of oxygen leads to anxiety depression um you know what are the steps forward what are the next steps you know the board is going to take in trying to reverse the mass mandate or if anything they can do um i think obviously at this point it produces more harm than good for our children and that's a serious concern and secondly to the reintegrated curriculum um i'd like to know how we can get a copy of the curriculum specifically the health care um curriculum um last year my first grader was in health class and they're watching videos and learning how they should get shots and get flu shots and you know i think that's something that should be discussed

at home not in the classroom and teaching kids about flu shots and different kinds of medical procedures i'd like to see this curriculum so that we know um what they are learning and if we see it you know it's a possibility to hop out of a blender thank you very much as far as what we can do next our hands are a little bit tight really all we can do is write a letter we encourage you to you know 100 letters is better than one um so you know voice your opinion if you want that all of us up here and failing to somebody else um we took it over when we got sworn in we took an oath to follow the law that's what you you know elected us to do and right now

that's the law and we have to follow it so that's where we are moving forward we are on top of any executive orders that come in and we will move forward when we have uh and i hope you can see tonight for what we're doing and how we're moving forward with our plan we want the kids to have a complete normal school year as possible and everybody in this building kudos to chris and her team have worked tirelessly this summer to make that happen okay um as curriculum of all curriculum i don't know if that one is currently online but um [Music] call the health teacher and discuss that with them if there is anything you know when they get older in fifth and sixth grade and we have to teach about reproduction if the

parent opts out we have another place for the child to go so that's what i described in the beginning about your communication with the teacher if there's something that children's all talking about they may not understand it exactly what the teacher said that you should communicate that that's your responsibility to communicate with the health teacher about what is this that you're teaching and our health teachers are professionals their certificate is in health education and they'll share with you you know the cycle of what we teach in first grade and they'll share that beforehand because there's some kids that don't come home and tell their parents anything that they learned in class today absolutely [Music] i would encourage you and i i said this at a board meeting was the end of last year as a

regards to the governor and executive orders i don't expect everybody to sit down at their computer and actually write a letter out but with the technology as it is now it's fairly easy to go online put your address in and get a list of all your representatives and with a click of a mouse basically generate an email then you can send to all of them and you can do that every day there's been issues that have come up this last year and over the past few years i've done that and everyone in my family's done that and that does get stuff done so i would encourage you to send emails to the governor asking him to put the control back into your community email your representative from state legislature from congress everybody and let them

know that you want the power back to you because if enough people do bother them with this he is going to relent but if we all just kind of get angry and post things on facebook that's not going to get anything done we actually need to get after them to enact to enable them to to actually change these things and equally is important november [Music] my question is um nobody has spoken about social distancing um we heard that the deaths are closer together than they have been i think that's fantastic i love it um i'm definitely gonna be encouraging my kids to ask some aspirates and to do jumping jacks while um my question mostly is about lunch and recess when they are outside last year they had to stay their full person they weren't

allowed to intermingle with other classes within their brains can they play with whoever the hell they want to this year yeah thank you great yeah uh justin north brielle um with the masculinity in place it's not going anywhere um indoor air quality is becoming a huge issue for everybody that's wearing their masks i know last year they improved the merc filters within the air handling system over the past eight weeks of the summertime have any other upgrades in installed is there anything on the upcoming agenda we're we're still on route 13 which is a high quality ill infiltration system we have air conditioning in every single classroom throughout the building and the offices um unlike many other students so um our classroom environments our classrooms are very clean we encourage children to wash their hands

and those things that we did last year we'll [Music] so with that being said is there in outdoor air being introduced within the system is it a continuously running system or is a halo system being introduced like are there any upgrades that we're looking at and you can put a murph 13 filter on your own home and say it's great um but if you're not bringing the outside air into the school all you're doing is recycling cold air so i'm already recycling old air as i'm standing here so just looking to see if we're doing anything better we've been working with different facilities we're putting air scrubbers in we're doing air changes per hour is any of that on the table for investigation are we just happy to build it i think moving forward we're

always looking to do what's best for our building so go under buildings and grounds and look into that and see what else we can do with our systems and make quality better in our school moving forward because of course the board would always want that and we want to change and look forward to what's best for our students so i think it's our responsibility to do that so for building the grounds we can look at that moving forward okay just one other thing with the cafeteria is cafeteria is out of service until january with providing hot meals correct so is there anything between now and then other than a request for proposal that is being done i mean is the cafeteria federally funded or school board funded we moved out of the federal program because

we didn't think it was serving our children the best that we could by so then we have we have a savings between september and december since we don't have an active cafeteria so that money been put aside to look at how in some way shape or form we can introduce hot meals to the kids one day a week two weeks a week three days a week tonight a couple days a week where we can have some type of hot lunch brought in right i mean if we've known for three weeks and the kids are starting in a week or two i mean kids have to do their homework from the day before but they come in and they're looking for a meal it's kind of tough to say oh well i didn't get an rfp

i'm sorry because [Music] is from the general fund to fund the groups or the program okay um we just want to be able to give our kids hotline at some point between september and january so let's work on that thank you [Music] so that you could easily distance children when they're doing music lessons is it depends on the individual that the child needs an extended time they don't have to leave the room and so we've created this building a room called our social emotional mindfulness room and so it's a place where children who need breaks can get brave and they get socially distanced but we'll have movement you know we'll have music and movement for them who those who need that is possible [Music] yes as much as possible they say three feet and it's

the 15-minute rules thank you else all right thank you everybody i appreciate it great questions this evening um discussion uh board members i just have one thing to discuss that i need to move the september meeting from september 15th so that will be announced and posted on we discussed the selection criteria for the gnt programming updates that you have [Music] and it's done [Music] genesis well an email go out letting everybody know that it's our children and with the budget closing uh the end of june when would they be um can you pay the bills yes all in good night favor
