001My class was awarded the New Jersey DOE climate change grant. Um, with that grant, we grew native plants for Avalon Environmental Commission. Um, my project actually helped support their initiative to bring back maritime forest and maritime wild flowers back to the island. So, we grew things like seaside golden rod and milkweed and we planted that on Dune Drive right down the main drag of the island and it has helped the community tremendously. We need educated people moving forward, landscapers, arborists who understand the delicate ecosystem that that the South Jersey area offers, especially also with global warming. Native plants don't need a lot of water. They have tremendous root systems. They filter the water. We have an aquifer here. Working together in this collaboration with the students, I mean, we both are winning.
