Emilia from Ernie Pil, thank you for being here. Let's

move on to the moment for outstanding students. Thank you for being here. Good evening everyone. Thank you for the introduction. My name is Katy Acevedo Torres. I am the proud interim principal at Ernie P. Today I have the great honor of recognizing a truly wonderful student. The INF Flori is here. Come on in, stand here so you can hear all the great things we have to say about you. She is our outstanding student at Ernie Pile. She is a kind, student who reminds us why we love being educators. She goes to the classroom every day with quiet confidence, a kind heart, and a love of learning; she is focused, responsible, and puts her best efforts into everything she does. Emilia, you shine in mathematics, reading, and writing. He is the type of student who not

only completes a subject, but elevates it. Her teachers shared that Emilia demonstrates academic excellence with genuine pride in her work. This one not only meets expectations, but goes beyond them. He seeks out his own challenges, takes on extra work in reading and writing, and challenges himself to grow. That motivation, that self-motivation, is rare and inspiring, but what stands out about Emilia is her character. He is known for his honesty, his conscience, and his empathy towards others. When she sees a classmate struggling or something that doesn't seem right, she quietly but confidently helps. The teacher describes herself as someone who is observant, patient, and always looking out for the well-being of others. It brings calm and compassion to every space it is in. Emilia also inspires others through her passions. It's about having a contagious enthusiasm,

whether it's sharing your love of music, loving viruses, or bringing energy and curiosity to the study of science that motivates those around you. Outside of school, he loves football, painting, and dancing. These are the places where he displays his creativity; he shows his charm in everything he does. This, Admira Emilia is an admirable leader and role model for her classmates because of her intelligence, kindness, and sincerity that she shows daily. Now I want to share a few words from some special people in your life, your mom and your dad. who sent this message for you, dear Emilia. I'm not sure if you can imagine how incredibly proud your father and I are. You bring so much charm and light to our home every day with your smile, your creativity, and your beautiful spirit. You fill

our days with this warmth and color, and every day is a new adventure with you. Thank you for being such a hard-working and kind girl, dedicated to helping around the house. We value it more than you can imagine. It says a lot about your character and gives a little insight into the past, the person you will be in the future. Remember that whenever you have any doubts, we love you deeply and will always be by your side, helping you, motivating you every step of the way, with lots of love, Mom and Dad. Emilia, your teachers, your family, your school community, we are so proud of you for your compassion. And we know you're going to achieve great things. You represent what panther means: responsible, respectful, and ready to learn. Congratulations, Emilia, on being the outstanding

student for Ernie Pile. We can, we know the amazing things you're going to accomplish, so come with me. A big round of applause for Emilia, please. Thanks a lot. He's a little sad, I don't know if he's going to share anything. If she wants to, if she wants to take a picture with us. And I just want to say that I went to Ernie Pile too and I'm so proud of you. You're amazing. Thank you. And we would love it if you would take a picture with us too. Thank you Emilia, we are very proud of you. We don't have employee-represented reports , but we do have PTA communications from the PTA in English. If Alexandra Cortés can come in, welcome and thank you. Okay. Good afternoon everyone. Good afternoon, Mr. President, members of the

board, superintendent, and BUSD staff. I am proud to share with the community report. We have to start with the resource fair, the PTA. It was a success. We had 29 different vendors, 125 people who attended, and that didn't include the people who were participating in the event. There were many people there building relationships, creating community, and strengthening those bonds. Each month we have, I'm going to highlight two schools. I don't know if we have them here. There was a report with the photos. I'll bring it up next time, but we were highlighting everyone at our schools. Esther Lindstrop did a pub crawl, a bubble pub race, a sports day, and we also had our first trunk tree which happened at Thomas Jefferson. You'll see lots of pictures and videos of all the schools doing their

trunk trees. of things. We're going to have the red ribbon. You're going to see a lot of pictures of the red ribbon that will be coming the day we're going to do the school tour. It will be on October 30th at 8:30. We're going to leave this district. We also have a table that we will have on breast cancer awareness. We'll be there. Come and say hello. We are anticipating this. We have a list of things to follow us on social media, we have a lot of things there and we also have a newspaper that you will receive as part of the PTP. Keep an eye on that. It will have all the schools there so they can continue to see things and attend events. Thanks a lot. Ah, there it is. Ah, there's the

BUSD. It's the resource fair that's in blue. We have the princesses of Belflower. There were many food vendors. We have Bingo and Bluey taking pictures with the students. For the red ribbon we received recognition from the city of Belf, a proclamation from them and you will see photos of the events where we were. These are the two schools. It's Astram. There's the bubble race. All the children can run through the bubbles and it's to raise funds, but more than anything they are having a lot of fun. We also have reflections on the art program that we created so that students would have a way to do it at home and were able to do it in schools. They also had a childhood cancer day and a sports day at Thomas Jefferson. This is your trunk

treat. They had many good costumes and trunks that were decorated, and also the restaurant night at Red Raven. It's about collecting donations for food stalls, but it's also about getting together after school, and that's what membership is about. We are at 2122 members, the goal is 3000. We are very close to the goal. Thank you all for joining. Hold back from registering and these are the upcoming events. Thank you all. Have a nice night. Thanks a lot. The report from Superintendent Dr. Sami Gracias, President Stuart, board members, and the community. I'm very happy to be here. On October 13th I had the opportunity to visit Albert Baxter and also Ramona's elementary school . It was a pleasure to witness the dynamic learning environments and to participate, to get involved with the staff who are dedicated

to student success. On October 14th I participated in the Resto breakfast at Belflaro, which was held at the Main Event Center at 7 am. Yes, at 7 a.m. with cabinet members, Belfower area directors, we met for this focused event with prayers for the people in the Belfower community. Later I visited Woodraft Elementary and also Washington Elementary despite the rain. I thoroughly enjoyed my time visiting the classrooms, engaging with enthusiastic students, and having meaningful conversations with dedicated staff. I also attended an alliance meeting with the leadership, President Stewart, and the members of the council. What happened? Everything's fine. A little friend who came to visit us, a big friend who came to visit us. I don't know. Some kind of It's not a cat or a dog. Rat. Okay, sorry for the interruption, it was really

nice. It was n't a rat. lovely. Regardless of the rain, I enjoy my time visiting students, engaging with them, and having important conversations with dedicated staff. On October 17, Meron, the foundation of education at Lakw, and her fundraising with Vice President Garza and Secretary Kchfield was incredible. Being part of this fundraising was important to give scholarships to students, invest in their educational journeys and their success in the future. On February 21st I attended the Bellflower Things Together After School Show, which is with Secretary Chrisfield, Mrs. Carter and Dr. Yusene Alvarez with the principal of Washington Elementary School. The students showcased their projects, including solar systems, food displays, and various learning posters. Watching the students talk about their experiences with great self-confidence. It gave me great pleasure. I am so proud of the students and the

association. Today I had the pleasure of going to Ernie Pile and visiting the classrooms with the principal, Kathy Acevedo Torres, and happy happy birthday to you, Principal Acevedo Torres. And finally, 100 days ago I began a journey with the Belfer Unified District, a community full of heart, hope, and a firm belief in what is possible for every student. In the first 100 days I have actively listened to and learned from every voice in the community. I have presented moments of courage, kindness, and brilliance in the halls, in the cafeterias, at the board tables, and in the courtyards. Each experience has reinforced my belief that it's not just a district, it's a family united by a common purpose. I am very grateful to the students, the staff, the families, the union leaders, the community partners, and

the board members who share the promise. Every single one of us will speak, and every single school will be ready. As we look to the future, to the next chapter, we do so united, with love, and with a strong belief that we will transform possibility into a promise. Here is the light we carry and the future we are building hand in hand. Many thanks to the Belfare district community. I appreciate them very much. Thank you, Dr. Simon. Next up are the committee updates, starting with the alliance. I'm going to give it back to Dr. Simon. Of course. Thank you, Madam President. On October 21st we met with the presidents and vice presidents and leaders for PTA and so forth with President Stuart and also the cabinet members. That time was dedicated to scheduling future meetings

and what we will talk about in these future meetings. Many thanks to the union leadership, the board, and the cabinet for being part of the conversation. Thank you. Are there any other updates? Yes, we had a Cal Apps meeting. That's what happened. Did any other committees meet? It wasn't a committee, but I did attend a LAXA meeting, which was the Los Angeles County Association of Legal Services. He was informing us, the school board members, about the board policies and the policies of a Supreme Court case that a moud v. Taylor is a Supreme Court case of parents who want their children to withdraw their students from LGB instruction. BTQ stories and religious things and health things. He gave me some numbers to look at and also at the same time the legal services will be

at CSBA this year in December. They also talked about what certain districts are doing regarding housing for their workers, and tomorrow it will cost about $75 to get this information or this book about what's happening in Westcovina, but it's regarding LAX worker housing because we're all members. We'll be meeting Wednesday morning for coffee. All members, if they wish, will be presenting information. Once we get to Sacramento, I'll tell you where we're going to meet. I think it will be in the hotel lobby to meet the other members of the board. That would be all. Thank you. I know we have a sports meeting scheduled for December, and we have an atmosphere and culture, a meeting on the dates in the agenda calendar. Ma'am, would you like to add anything to that committee? No, we schedule

the meetings for the rest of the year along with the sequence and scope of things we need to cover in those meetings. Thank you so much. Any other information to present? Any more? Okay, moving on to the public comments, tonight we do have a request addressing topics in the open session. Members of the governing board are not public, they are open to the public allowing 3 minutes to address the board, limiting the time for public input to 21 minutes according to this statute 93.2, two, unless the board makes it exempt. We will listen very carefully to every public comment, I want us to know, but we will not give answers. During the meeting, the superintendent or designated representative will communicate with the community member or the mother or father if they request a comment or

follow-up. We have two parts tonight. First, Mr. John Paul Jader, will be first. Thank you. Well, this time it's going to work, right? John Paul J. Hello everyone. Alumnus of Ramona, Baxer and Bell. Congratulations. My mother was Ernie P a long time ago. I also want to thank member Mayora Garsa. We were in the same boat with the same ideas, at the last school board meeting when he asked questions about the master plan and the quotation of such in the master plan. I saw that there was nothing to support that information, that's why he asked so many questions. That allows the public to know what is happening. I have this as a commissioner at Cous College and I understand in advance from my experiences that if we had had that information, we wouldn't have had

to ask those questions of the staff, and it's good for the public because of the transparency. I fought pretty hard for transparency in this district, winning the petition in the state audit so that we would know the process and what is happening, how we conduct our bidding processes. We need to know who all the people are who are applying for and bidding on. We are the master program to help advance the school bond to improve schools. Each school has air conditioning that operates free of albestos. My mother's office in Mayf was full of bestials. Later my mother developed cancer. We need to ensure that all employees, students, and volunteer community members are free from chemicals that could harm them in our school. Thank you for your consideration. Thanks to miembra for asking those very good

questions. Thank you. I'm going to be honest, I'm going to ruin this name, but Rosaline, I know it's with Rosalind. Rosalind, I don't know, I admit I 'm not doing her justice. Rosal gives me her last name. Henderson, it's not his fault. Maybe I wrote it. It's my fault. I am a teacher, I should be able to read this. Well, I'm sorry. Well, thank you for being here. Thank you for your presence. Don't worry. My name is Rosaln Henderson. I just want to say hello to all members of the Cabinet Board. Uh, I was a teacher for 30 years with the Inglew Unified School District and I got burned out . I retired in 2019 and I have a mission to support educators when it comes to well-being. My son, then, doctor, uh, email, we

put together a program called basic self-care. We address three pillars of self-care by talking about mental health, emotional health, energy health, and different types for each educator in each school. We want to help districts retain the best and brightest. We teachers know that they are leaving in part because they are burning out; we want to reduce absences among professionals and we want to improve the interaction of educators. I would like to leave some materials for Dr. Simon to talk more about the subject, because I know that the driving force behind academic success lies with us educators. Thank you. Thank you so much. Well, we appreciate that. Thank you again . We have no public hearing tonight and no topics for discussion. Let's move on to the main action 12.1. Approval for labor negotiation services. Dr.

Simon. Thank you, President Stuart. At this time I will pass the baton to Kurt Kirchfield and members of the Centron Board to lead us in this debate. Thank you so much. I will report to the committee and the findings. Please know that I will be discussing the process, criteria, and the findings we obtained. So good night. As directed by the board, as directed by the board, an interview committee which included eh member KKfield, superintendent, this legal advisor and myself, we met on October 16 and 17 to interview three firms for the role of negotiators and labor leaders for the upcoming negotiations we have with the PTA, with the Belfar teachers' union. The criterion was that the process was conscious and consistent, using a clear criterion to guide our decision. We aim to provide success in

negotiations on behalf of the district, especially with certified units and strategies at the negotiation table, preparation, and communication. eh cost information assuring that there was cadence. That's one of the greatest things. Understanding of the fiscal realities of kindergarten through 12th grade, the educational code, and the day-to-day operation of schools; the ability to start immediately and ensure continuity with assigned staff; and a committed demonstration of open communication with the Board and Superintendent, with a constructive and respectful tone that fosters a positive climate. uh this and learning environment at school. Three companies were interviewed; all three were professional and highly rated. However, Danis, I will always, I don't know if I'm going to say it right. Oliver, Oliver, Janis Wolver, Kelly, D.W.K. I'm going to say, I'm going to refer to them as DWK, because that's what

stuck in my head. They were the best fit for the Bellflower district. Their proposal reflects considerable experience and a very strong track record with districts in California. Very well- developed plans, cost models, comparisons, comparative studies, a balanced approach to negotiation, meeting board objectives, minimizing disruptions for students, and finally, immediate availability for a lead negotiator ready immediately, ready to start working, and then I will open up to debate or questions. I'll leave my microphone on in case there are any questions or comments, anything like that . Okay, if someone could turn off the podium, please. Vice President Garza, thank you. I have about five questions. If anyone else has more, please interrupt me, stop, I'll stop and go back to mine. The first question is, how will the lead negotiator keep the board informed during the

negotiation process and what regular updates can we expect? Uh, should I answer that myself or like Andrew? Well, regarding labor negotiations, the information that the board will see will be in a closed session. That information will not be available to the public. However, when asked if the firm could come and present that information and keep the board up to date on what is happening, they clarified that their main priority is that the education board is informed about how the negotiations are proceeding so that they have clear direction from the education board that whatever they do at the negotiating table is in accordance with the directions of the education board, they are focused on the roles and responsibilities that will be involved and very important. They are eager to work with the current negotiation team, helping

them develop their skills at the negotiating table so they can lead future legislation with less input from legal advisors, but more collaboration between negotiation teams. My second question, thank you. Secondly, what specific decisions will he authorize? The leader will be authorized to negotiate independently, and which ones will require Board of Education approval. As for their discretion , it will only be within the parameters set by the Board . They will not be able to deviate from what the Board allows them to do. It would be a violation of his legal duties to the Board and the district. So anything the board authorizes, they can do. Anything else must be returned to the board for approval. And even if we say there are certain proposals that are made that may fit within the parameters and scope

of the board, it still has to go back to see if the board agrees with the agreed proposals so that the board always has the information regarding the decisions in this process. Next question is, thank you. How the lead negotiator will brief the Board on negotiation strategies and key issues and discussions. That will begin with an initial meeting to review the parameters, uh, to see the direction the board wants to take, and from there they will consistently update the board on progress in any section of the collective bargaining agreement. Uh, they'll come to the closed session, introduce themselves, and have a conversation with us. Yes. And with and to establish the parameters of what they can safely do. What process should be in place to be able to give feedback? Will it be in a

closed session only? Or could we give feedback through you, or how does that work? It will generally be in a closed session, but since the meetings are twice a month, if something comes up during that period, the board could contact me directly, give me feedback, and I will continue working with the lead negotiator on the board's wishes or suggestions from board members. Uh, that will be taken into account in a closed session and presented to everyone in a general session. And if there is disagreement between the lead negotiator and the board for any reason, what steps will be taken to resolve those issues? There are no disagreements between the board and the lead negotiator because the board makes all the decisions. So whatever you tell them to do, that's what they'll do. And if for

any reason they take it upon themselves to act outside the scope of their duties, at that point there will be an immediate discussion about replacement, because ultimately they are not authorized to make any decision that the board has not previously authorized them to make. Perfect, thank you very much. Any other questions? I just want to, I'm going to read it. Based on the committee review and discussion, I am recommending that the board select TWQ as the lead labor negotiator. I propose that the board select DWK. as the district's lead negotiator , negotiator for negotiations with BTA and authorize the superintendent to execute an agreement with this UFT. I know quickly that he was also on the committee. I want to hear your quick thoughts on the three firms we did interview. I believe DW was

the best of the three for the reasons Ms. Centron mentioned, and overall, it was the clear choice. Secondly, please take attendance. Cheiqu student member. Yes, Mrs. Armstrong. Yes, Mrs. Centron. Yes, Mr. CRF. Yes, sir, we do have some withdrawal points on the consent agenda. I'm going to remove article 13.7, please. And we have another vice president and 13.10, please. We have 13.7 and 13.10. We have another motion to approve the agenda consent by withdrawing 13.7 and 13.10. He has that motion. One second. Second. Please take the list. Chevik student member, yes. Mrs. Armstrong, yes. Mrs. Cr, yes. Mr. Churchill, yes. Mrs. Garz. Yes. Mrs. St. Yes. With 13.7. I make a motion to withdraw that item. A second one. Member Chevique, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Centron, secretary, Mrs. Garcasi, Mrs. 13.10, Vice President of Garza. Thank

you, Mr. President. My questions are a little more about looking at the contracts themselves in their entirety. I want to ask what metrics and results we are using to evaluate the effectiveness of these contracts. There is a system of digit numbers. How many students? How many students are being helped, or is it effective? It depends on the type of contract. For example, if it's not a public school, we look at the quality of the instruction and services they provide. If it's a staffing agency, we look at the quality of the staff and the support that backs us up. We are always talking about the quality of services from these various contractors. I'm going to add that we are sure there is an agency that we are not going to use with respect to personnel and

we are also going to look at a more thorough evaluation system. We are also having in-depth conversations with an agency that can help us provide better figures to determine before renewing or participating in or starting new contracts. It's going to be a good fit. Do you know roughly when we're going to have a draft of that system of figures? the conversations. We are having the conversations. We currently have a meeting in the next two weeks with an agency to see if they are a good option; if not, we will have another one, or perhaps we will have to have a system of metrics with the cabinet. The important thing is that we want to ensure that it is effective and efficient and that the numbers are true to what we need from a data point.

We are moving in this direction. Vice President Garcia. Thank you so much. I have no further questions. Anyone else? A motion to approve article 13.10. One second. Second. Let's take the list. Student member Chevigio. Yes. Mr. Armstrong. Yes. Member of Ctrán. Kfield member. Mrs. Garz. Yes. Ms. Start. Yes. Okay, now it's for board communications. Let's start with the student member. Good afternoon everyone. Seeing as there is no student representative, I'm going to take on that role for a little while. I don't have much to report. Tomorrow Mayfer is going to have her Hispanic enrichment party. There will be many clubs, there will be fundraising, and they will bring many things outside of Steam building. Friday will also be the seminar for those in their fourth year of high school. I'm not entirely sure about the

details, but what I think is that many people are going to say it's going to be very sentimental. We'll have to see, and on Saturday Mayer will have of the storm 14. It's our tournament right now, we have more than 15 players registered, there will be 70 or 80. We have Smash Bros., Go to Gear, Street Fighter. What else? I don't remember anymore, but we have some games . I urge you to come and check it out and maybe compete, but I don't know, maybe, just to see what it is and everything. Thank you, member Armstrong. Thank you, President Stuart. Welcome everyone and thank you for being here tonight. Okay, on Friday the 10th, day 10 first, hopefully one of many appetizers with Armstrong. I was well attended and I am grateful to everyone who

came and shared their time and thoughts with me. It was a good opportunity to meet more members of the community. Yes, that is the area where I live. So, to get to know everyone, even people I did n't know. Oh, anyway I want to make more of those. I loved it. as everyone felt welcome and comfortable meeting new people in the place and having conversations. So much so that one friend was invited to a community event by another friend, and they didn't even know each other. I will make sure to publish my next event . Never, no, never knows what we have in common with a member of the community or people who think similarly to us. That same night I had to run to Bellflower High School because it was the Bellflower Homecoming game

and President Stewart was there wearing her Leatherman jacket; she always has her jacket. I just wanted to let you know that. Anyway, my daughter was a cheerleader in her high school years and was also the Homecoming queen last year. I had to run away because I had the 2025 Homecoming Queen crown. Lots of photos and all the pretty girls and all the handsome boys, all very elegant, and the parents taking the pictures. I used to do that, I still do, but anyway, on the 11th I attended the Mayfir High School resource fair and for me the thing that stood out and I didn't cry or anything, but my eyes did start to water because I think early education is extremely important and all interventions have to start there . And when I say that what

stood out to me was a speaker who talked about the relationship he had with his brother, and although he didn't have such a successful start with love and relationships in his family, his brother began to develop into a kind young man. He's already a middle-aged man, but he acknowledged that his brother didn't receive all the resources he needed growing up in school, and she made it her mission to be that light and give hope and love to her brother and show all the beautiful photos over time. It was incredible, and we had so many good speakers, but I can't talk about all of them, and on the 13th I already spoke about Laxta. I also attended the CASPI conference with my board president, Steart, and the topic was the Great Tabian. There was a focus

on mathematical practices and mathematical thinking, and they were talking about the math behind math and how to bring the family together so that they naturally get involved in math things that one can do at home, like making cookies or cutting pizza or an apple, things like that . And they were talking about trying to make them confident with math and demonstrating real-life math concepts at home to make them more comfortable. But they did it in great detail. There was another conference where they were talking about what we are doing to support only small student populations. For example, we have a low population of African Americans. What are we doing in schools to ensure that we are supporting them by trying to get them into double enrollments in other classes and so on? What are we

doing about the smaller student populations who feel like a large part of the schools? And that was much more, but that's basically all I'm going to talk about. Thank you. You need to take the time I speak. Member of the Central Board. Thank you. Well, on October 10th I met with our superintendent, Dr. Simon, and we had a great discussion about enrollments, security, and understanding the commitments we have in the district. It was a great conversation. We will meet more frequently, or as frequently, as we have scheduled. And on Saturday I also attended the special education conference and community resource fair , the first one, and it was good. I'll try to keep this short. Board meeting, after the event I received flyers to register and they were waiting in my garage for those flyers

and showed up on Saturday. They had a good experience. I also think it's extremely successful. The keynote speaker was phenomenal. Uh, she reminded us because we're there, what does it mean to be an entire district, she addressed the students? Why do we do the work we do and how do we do it, how do parents reflect on it, and how can we all sustain our efforts together? What does this mean and what is the significance of these conferences for the community? I thought it was great. I also attended with board member Kurt Kitchfield and vice president Garsa. One of the workshops, this one, I left my notes at home, but it was about the unified schools that are champions of the Special Olympics and where we are in our district. How have we partnered with

other districts to make this happen? flag football, track and field football, and other sports and other special education teachers were there talking about how it has reflected, how it has resonated with other students in general education and how to be involved and engaged with students on school campuses. We also had a presentation from our cheerleaders, and the students were there introducing themselves, those who participate in this program, and what they hope to achieve. Your parents/ guardians were also there giving us information about how this interaction and involvement in our schools is flourishing among the students. It was a very nice presentation, thank you for the experience, it was really great. Congratulations to our superintendent for 101 days with us, honestly. Be patient with your school board. Yes, I will tell you that. I also want

to make, well, a call, and I think people have seen it, it was presented with the PTA about our first annual walk on the topic of cancer. This Saturday from 9 to 11 people can register, they can show up, there will be referrals for free breast exams and referrals to places to receive information, a place to walk around and a new resource will be created. I'm really looking forward to this hike and I'm going to tell you it's all for me, from me. Thank you, member centrum centrfield. Thank you, Madam President. Most of the things I did were mentioned, so I wo n't go into detail about them, but I do want to say thank you to our staff for our first special education conference and community resource fair. Thank you so much for that.

Yes, we had a member, a meeting of Caps from the executive board, company Dr. Simon for a tour of the Mayf fields, thanks to Patrick and the staff. There are quite a few people watching that program, monitoring it, and I'm confident that it will be done and done well. I feel much better after this, having gained some clarification and understanding on certain points and topics. The Laker golf tournament, Laker's homecoming party , met and took pictures with the crowned queen, so she was very happy and lively. Uh, we went to Washington Elementary School. I'm very excited about the cancer walk on Saturday. Thank you staff for organizing this event on October 25th. I appreciate the fact that we do these things. In other districts it has been shown that it is very useful and I

like to be more of that. Another thing is that on October 10th there was a podcast guest, a really great person. Thank you, Doctor, for joining me in that conversation, and Esmeralda as well. Although the work we do in communication doesn't go unnoticed, I appreciate all the effort you are contributing to make it happen. Thank you KKF, Vice President Garsa. Thank you, President Stuart. I'm also going to , well, skip over those events which the other two board members and I attended. The Lakid Foundation Golf Tournament . I also had a great time. This is a special education conference and community resource fair . Great job, everyone, thanks for organizing it. There were plenty of resources for the community. It was really great and I'm sure it's going to grow even more if we start

this earlier and add the pieces we want to add. Many thanks to the staff, and to you all for working hard to make it happen. I also echo the comments that the other board members are making. We are able to get involved in more events than other districts. They have already had this and it is very exciting to be here in Bellflower with our staff and with our superintendent. We can see that you guys work pretty hard. There are quite a few things on our calendars and we see it. Follow, follow this flow. We are very excited to support everything you do. Thank you. Thank you, Vice President Garcia. Good night. On October 10th I attended Bellflower's homecoming soccer game. We won against Fireball 34-0, it ended 57-0, I think it was a great win.

Thanks to all my friends and former students who supported the new generation of young people. The role they were sharing was great. Thanks to Shannen, the director of ASB, I commented on the uniform and she gave me one because I really appreciate it, the uniform made all my friends jealous. On October 13th I attended a professional development event in my district and the only reason I'm talking about it is because I liked the way they structured the event. My first time as a physical education teacher, I had professional development. They sent someone from Lako, they taught games and activities, I really liked how they did it. They had three uh uh times of 2 hours uh they put me in two places. We were able to choose a variety of topics in the sessions and

the teachers liked quite a few of the presenters. It 's an idea for the future for everyone. On October 14th, I attended the last Alliance meeting as president. I will no longer be [the president], I will be on the committee because I am designated for the presidency, vice-presidency. I loved meeting with union members and discussing critical issues. There are some very good topics coming in the future. They're going to have a great performance in December; on October 15th I went to the CAPC conference. I have enough, but this is the only way we can report. I'm going to talk about some things I did when I was in Carls Band. First separate session. Let's talk about a seven-step leadership. I'll go over it quickly. Seven steps are this being an example of beliefs and biases,

this, mobilizing leaders, activating people, resources, time to be visible. Leaders elevate student identities, cultures, achievements, curriculum, and school culture. Uh, leaders avoid past damage by making the right adjustments in terms of measures and evidence. These are used to make adjustments to progress and also to maintain systems in place; these strategies are practiced in schools to ensure their long-term success. Equity starts early by focusing on the first question I want to ask everyone. How does the punishment of exclusion in early education lead us to a direct line to prison for brown and dark-skinned students? We spoke to many people and they gave us many good answers about that. Students do not feel loved. Other students see that these students are singling each other out and don't want their friends to be singled out. They do n't

want to go to school, they don't feel comfortable, they don't feel like they are part of the school, that there are implicit biases with all teachers, students, white teachers, Hispanic teachers, African American teachers, and we must continue to provide training. The lack of training causes these inequalities. Uh, we all have certain biases, but our behavior shouldn't be like that. We must continue training staff in that area. We also talked about speech and language issues. Uh, our uh colleagues from Perman gave us these reports on the discussion of conversations and language and the and the topic of speech. There is quite a lot that can be offered by a very special kind of prayer and debate. These are things we would like to do in our school for our students. I also spoke with a panel

about YC. These are centers being created in the United States, founded by Jimmy Ivin and Autre Young, Dr. Drey. I liked their presentations because it was very interesting about how these high schools focus on project-based learning, their ways of teaching creatively, focusing on technology, emphasizing that we must teach creativity and innovation and not just expect them to have many projects. They are based on project-based learning and help the community by partnering with the community. I hear about the things your high schools do and they're great. On October 9th I went to another event with other members of Congressman Mr. Garcia, Mr. Lovent. I attended a meeting in my district on October 1st; it was an inspiring academy. We talked about our recruitment practices in getting the best leaders. Let's analyze the difference then: what is

a manager and what is a leader? We learned that leaders cause positive change with their vision and strategy. It is the who and what, but the manager organizes by controlling aspects of the work and how and when and how it is done. Geran with the day-to-day, work lists, job descriptions. I learned, and I know that here we do it by hiring— we are hiring better leaders—and we should aspire to hire leaders who have a combination of leader and manager, who listen well, communicate well, gather information, are oriented towards academic success, and make decisions that benefit the team. It was a very important thing and I think we are hiring better leaders and getting better leaders, directors, management, executive cabinet. I appreciate what we're doing, Dr. Omos, Dr. Nox, I know you're not here, but you

do great work. Some random things really encourage me that the Debachi law passed, the payment of the board members, we talk, they judge us. I get paid 240 a month , it's not much for everything we do. So I'm really excited because we deserve it, and I hope you don't take it the wrong way, that it's selfish, right? We do a lot of work for what we get paid. Second, I just want to say, join the PTA because they're trying to reach 3,000. I hope that happens. Three. Go Dodgers! We have to win everything. I hope the Dodgers win and finally please come for the State of the State address on Tuesday at 5. We're very excited about it and we're just waiting for that. Information points. Does the table have any questions about the

information points this afternoon? Okay, I love it. At 7:21, if there are no protests, the session is adjourned until the next board meeting, which will be on November 13, 2025.
