posted agenda items speakers are requested to limit their comments to a maximum of three minutes and we do have some parts may i ask jamie pope to please come to the podium [Music] welcome hi i'm jamie pope and i'm a recent graduate of vintage high school and um i am here speaking on the topic of napa valley tennis association so nvta has been an extremely important part of my life for the past 12 years i started playing tennis at mbta when i was just five and mikey fisher has been my coach for the past four years and has significantly shaped me to be the player i am today not only have i been playing tennis at mvta for the past 12 years but i've also taught tennis there for a long time and when i
first started i was part of the rec program which solely takes place at mvta and i've also helped teach the rec program i've also been a volunteer coach for multiple programs that serve underprivileged youth so one of those programs coach mikey holds and we provided rackets for the kids we taught them how to play and many of these people were not these kids were not able to play tennis because of the cost so to see the pure joy on their faces when they were able to play um play with other kids their age get taught from experienced coaches it was priceless and another program i've been a volunteer coach for is the hits program which is a united states tennis association program and nvta is one of the few locations across the north bay or
even northern california that hits takes place and they provide free tennis lessons to underprivileged youth and um again a the hits program gave these kids a place where they could play tennis for free with other kids their age and nvta is a vital place to the community it serves people of all ages it gives them a place where they can you know do physical activity they can spend time with other kids their age and a place where they can find a passion like i did and i'll now be going on to play division one college tennis at st mary's and um for the past 12 years nvta has been a place where not only i practice um but it's also been a place where i've been able to go at any time to improve to
work hard and it's also been a place where i've met some of my closest friends but most importantly a place where i've truly fallen in love with the sport of tennis and if it weren't for mvta the open and supporting community that it houses the experienced coaches that it has i would not be where i am today going on to play division one college tennis so it's just i think i'm an example of how important mvta is to individual people and the community so thank you i would like to invite lisa miller to the podium please hello i was 15 years old when the napa valley tennis association became a reality i remember my parents and their friends working on a dream of the public tennis courts being available to the napa community i recently
spoke with my father and another member of the original founder one of the original founders and they were really proud of the fact that it was a joint effort between the napa valley unified school district and napa valley tennis association and the city of napa i taught at napa high and my husband and i ron and i were assistant coaches for the tennis team for 12 years i'm here to talk about the profound effect that pla having a full-time pro at mvta has had on the youth of napa first of all the positive impact of playing tennis and be part of a team can make a huge difference in a student's life for example one student in particular paco did not make the other sports teams he didn't feel connected to school he was from
a poor family and hadn't played sports before high school he joined the tennis team and his life changed mvta extended scholarships to paco and another student cesar to play in the junior clinics with the extra instruction they were able to play single as their senior year and play on the napa college club team they were both the first in their families to graduate from high school students need to play tennis more than just during the school tennis season for them to be successful a good program is fun engaging and low cost so it is accessible to all families it is hard to find and would not be possible without a full-time pro most players who've been in apple for the past 20 years remember playing in rick hanover's tennis clinics his players um not only
helped paco and caesar at vic's clinics not only helped powerpoint caesar but they represented over half of the players on napa high and vince tennis teams his program also inspired students to play college tennis at portland's university portland harvard sonoma state uc berkeley ucla claremont mckenna and whitman college today the npeta has another influential tennis pro mike fisher who is widely regarded for his engaging teaching style and ability to technically advance a player's game after school hours and in the summer mike's priority is junior thomas his successful junior academy and packed napa rec classes of paid dividends and i was going to mention jamie pope that she eloquently already spoke um she's on her way to st mary's i apologize in advance for how i pronounce your last name margaret angelovich it's angelo but it's
i'm sorry it's a tough one i understand yeah exactly okay so just mine will be really brief um i've been a member of napa valley tennis association for over 20 years and uh recently retired and lost my husband and this is a wonderful association that i can do during the day they're a great community they're very supportive and are an important part of my life and very much would like to have it remain that way thank you [Applause] don't have any more good evening thank you for letting me speak i'm rob farver and i'm the president of the nafa valley tennis association and as many of you know there's been negotiation between nbusd napa valley tennis association and the city of napa i've been on the board of nvta for over five years but just
since uh may as president i guess i'm just lucky that way i got to walk right into the negotiation it's been a trying few months working through what are clear changes that uh we see many of them needed required or agreeable there's others that we had to discuss further i'd like to thank nvusd as a board for the negotiation specifically dr masetti we had a meeting on tuesday that was extremely positive and productive and we feel like we were on a very solid path moving forward with more negotiation more meetings to come but i represent nvta [Music] probably more than anything else is because i'm absolutely amazed at what others before me have built and maintained i'm there every day for the most part and just stand amazed at what other people do and vta
works hard to give back to the community and they show that every day but with three minutes i wanted to ask could i have the additional minutes off of uh the last speaker just kidding um [Music] we're here for the community we're here to teach children tennis i've raised three sons through napa valley unified school district they graduated from napa high they all played tennis all four years ron miller and i coached the night 2017 napa men's tennis to an undefeated season and uh mel but it speaks to why we give back we're here for the children this whole organization is here for the children i have coached little league i have coached napa youth soccer i coached napa high because i was asked to and i thought it was my privilege and i wanted
it i wanted to do that mike fisher is the pro at nbta and he gives back every day he is now the one entrusted with building and teaching tennis to our youth and it's crucial that we maintain him on the court in that position i wish had longer but i'm looking down at six seconds again thank you for the time to speak mr michaels do we have any online comments uh there's no public comment online at this time thank you very much now we will move on to reports and um but before we begin our border report i would like to extend a warm welcome to sam gomez our new student board representative samuel joins us from vintage high school we are looking forward to your contributions on the board and we thank you for
your interest in the betterment of education and the importance of student voice we are looking forward to a productive 22-23 school year so welcome and with that would you like to have your um do you like to give your first report yes i would thank you miss uh president jakowicz um i just want to begin by saying i'm so grateful to be here today and uh this school year i'm excited to get to know all of you and hope we have a great year earlier today i was fortunate enough to be part of a student panel that spoke to teachers and administrators within the usd including dr macetti and president jankowicz we talked through some of the current issues that students face not only in this district but around the country things such as time
management mental health and communication between teachers and students we talked about potential solutions as well as spoke about specific teachers that we thought had the greatest impact on us as students and why that was contrary to that we provided some critiques or criticisms to some of the practices of teachers um and i thought it was a really good opportunity for us as students to convey what tends to work best for the experiences and learning practices of students in the district and i just hope that everyone who's in attendance all the teachers administrators etc i hope they're able to take something from the student panel that's all thank you very much you did well thank you very much uh welcome sam we're excited to have you here and your first report gives such a great example
of the importance of amplifying student voice so thanks for that really i have nothing to report except for one um event that i attended with trustee water that was in to honor our former student board rep emily bit and her alisa co-president who are both heading off to uc berkeley in a few weeks um just honoring their work their important advocacy for um climate action in our community but other than that i was unplugged from school business for since our last meeting this concludes my report um i want to uh welcome you sam we did our student board rep interviews before the school year ended with uh president jenkins and um just really great reminder to have in the room and that the dice is a student representative of our of our district um i
too you know the the purpose was that july was was uh intended to be a quiet month we know that that varies among the the district some work through the summer others were getting ready and um just keeping up with the emails and communication from our community and just glad to be back here and getting ready to welcome our our students and our staff to the new school year thank you trustee water i too would like to welcome sam to the board um you're going to love it this will be the high point of your senior year and wow and i always i always say that um okay yes i did along with um along with uh trustee wiser i did attend uh a little celebration for emily bit and her sidekick who are off
to um uh my old school uc berkeley uh go bears and yeah and um and also let's see on the 24th i went to a pride event at kennedy park i was invited by by a napa high student to speak and i saw lots of our students there and on the 25th i was invited to the graduation in the napa high little theater of the building and construction students one of whom was our student of the month and he also was a graduation speaker and it was a lot of fun very inspiring families you know from all over the county uh attended to see their graduates and it should be noted that the napa community foundation gave every one of the graduates a pair of work boots and a tool belt and all the tools
they'll need so it was uh it was a really um positive event and the food wasn't bad either thank you water trusty grass so i too was uh liking to take a moment to welcome sam to the board i think uh it's great to have the student presence here and i also unplugged a little bit for the month of july i did attend our special zoo meeting to pass the governor's resolution on the 19th and then on the 20th i met with the csba pacer who represents our area to update her about our close of school process and our preparations for the coming school year i want to take a moment to welcome back students families faculty and staff special thank you to all of the operations um people who worked tirelessly all summer to
make sure our facilities and grounds were ready for the 22-23 school year thank you to the staff that made sure that our schools were prepared to welcome everyone back on each and every campus and i hope everyone had a rejuvenating restful and relaxing summer i went from the sixties to the three yards um summer allows for reflection upon the previous year and i want to express my gratitude to our faculty and administration for their contributions and dedication to our students the magic of your contributions over the last few years cannot adequately be measured we recognize the camaraderie and community you created amongst your peers the continued and caring outreach to families and the steady hand extended to each student as they navigated their weight back to what we can only call their new normal i
believe this academic year is going to be a year of promise new beginnings new relationships and the joy that comes from watching our students learn blossom and succeed i attended the summer graduation ceremony on july 14 and i applaud all of our summer graduates i participated in numerous community engagement calls thank you to many of the people in this room and lastly um today i had the privilege of attending the scholar system napa valley professional learning day our board had the privilege of attending the keynote address delivered by dr victor rios at the csba conference last year scholar systems founded by dr rios is committed to promoting equity in education settings and he and his team have worked with local school districts to develop the interventions for at promise students aimed at promoting personal transformation
and civic engagement the room was electric it was filled with faculty and staff that were inspired engaged and deeply motivated the approach is transformative for our students but it also has application to every individual that makes up our nvs nbusd community i absolutely loved it and as sam said he participated on the student panel and what an exceptional group of students they were a humble reminder of why we are nvusd proud dr missetti we have not met yet uh we have nothing great thank you well good evening everyone um i'm going to ask mr michaels if you can get the slide deck up for my superintendent report this evening so i just want to welcome everyone kicking off the school year we of course officially don't start with our students and families until wednesday august
the 15th but um in my life and the lives of the folks to my left the school year starts with the first board meeting and so today is the first board meeting of the 22-23 school year and it's always an exciting time to start the governance of the school district as we aim to conduct business that prioritizes high quality teaching and learning equity and excellence in our school district in service to all of our students it's already been commented by both president janquitz and by our student board representative um samuel regarding the management retreat it was a phenomenal three days two of which were hosted by dr rios i'm sure assistant superintendent pat andrew jennings will say a little bit about it as well but it was just really really energizing to see all of
our leaders all of our building leaders our school leaders our principals assistant principals all of our central office team come together to launch the school year and make sure that they are focused on their own leadership development and our sustainability as leaders in order to lead some of the work that i'm going to share about here in a moment what was special about this year's management retreat is that we included teachers for two of the three days alongside many of our counselors and social workers because the work that we're trying to advance in this year is really about um implementation and and in-depth implementation and we felt that it was important to have um teachers counselors social workers shoulder to shoulder with some of our administrators to really set up that in-depth implementation for this
upcoming year and i think that we're going to see a lot of um success due to that model so um with that being said this now is the second year so it's becoming tradition and where i have in the first board meeting of the school year shared the board annual priorities for the upcoming year you of course all engaged in the workshop back in june so you we all as a governance team co-constructed these priorities but i think it's always nice as we kick off the year of governance to sort of reflect them back to you right after that rigorous work that we did in our june session with our california school boards association governance consultant and take this as an opportunity to communicate to the public what are going to be our priorities in
the upcoming school year so with that i'm going to share with you board annual priorities for 2223 next so um all of these priorities advance our mission and vision statement and we were excited to breathe life into this mission and vision statement over the last three days with our leaders and some of our teacher representatives but it is just a reminder this is our why um it's the why behind the priorities that you've articulated our mission here is to transform lives by instilling and inspiring lifelong learning in every student so our aim is to make sure that these priorities become mechanisms for implementing this aspirational mission and vision statement next this is just a reminder the school district i am going to share um board annual priorities but the school district the school board adopted
a six-goal oriented strategic plan um upon my arrival which is now going into my fifth year as superintendent so it's kind of hard to believe that um the strategic plan which has guided us through covid through many challenging issues i want to remind the public and the board that our six goals oriented strategic plan is still at play um the strategic plan provides the long-term road map for the work that we do all of the work in the district needs to align to one of these six goals and so i'll show what these six goals are really quickly here go ahead next slide goal one student learning goal two around employee relations goal three around communication community engagement goal four is around tactical proactive efficient asset management it's really about the finance and the facilities
goal five is equity centered leadership and then the last one is around us improving our governance these six goals were adopted um back in december of 2018 we launched the work in january of 2019 originally planning to only have these goals for three years but with the approval of the school board decided to extend the strategic plan to become five years until 2024 due to the disruptions that we know were caused by the unanticipated pandemic so what is going what are going to be the priorities for this upcoming year all advancing these broader base goals but this is sort of the list of um initiatives that we will have laser-like focus on in order to make sure that we are implementing um continuous improvement efforts in service to students staff and families so why don't
we kick off with the first annual prayer i think that's what's next oh no first we have to remind everyone you are um you are the board that worked on these annual priorities so there we are the governance team as superintendent and trustees we we work on these annual priorities vis-a-vis workshop um guided by a consultant as i've already explained okay now let's kick off priorities so our first priority we will continue with tk through 12 mathematics program alignment and improvement this supports strategic goal one in the strategic plan next slide our long-term impact why are we continuing with this priority this was actually a priority last year as you all can remember but we're so excited by the foundational work that was conducted last year when looking to improve math we're going to continue
with it in 2223 so our why around this priority is that we aim to improve tk12 math program and most importantly student mathematic achievement outcomes does that sound good to you sam sam yeah okay good um the second priority um is also focused on instruction teaching and learning um and that is to increase high quality tier one instruction for all students again that's connected to goal one of our brought our broad-based strategic plan and this is really um after the work of last year as you all know we did a lot around articulating the interventions behavioral interventions academic interventions for all of our students and now that we have that framework so clearly articulated we felt that this was an important year to make sure that the foundation of instruction tier one is what we
call it and what educators call it is of high quality for all students and then we're really thinking about the differentiation of student needs um in that tier one instruction and that teachers are adapting for that what was so great was in the student panel today i think there was a lot of themes around this students feeling that no matter where they are some students are strong in math some students are strong in other subjects english we heard a little bit of that that was shared with sam and his colleagues that all students need to feel like in tier one that they have access you know and and um to high quality instruction and that they're able to um tap into the the curriculum and content in tier one and the teachers are doing a
really good job with that our why next slide improve the educational outcomes of all students if tier one improves for all kids then all kids will have improved educational outcomes next slide the third annual priority is really about strengthening early learning programs this is again uh connected to that first school student achievement learning and access in our broader based strategic plan why focus on early learning programs there's a lot of synergy in california around early learning the california department of education along with the governor and the legislator are making massive investments in transitional kindergarten and so we think it's an important time for the district to focus on early learning last year we had a tremendous focus on middle school so kind of if you map on to last year's work think about pivoting that
you now and looking at that focus in the early years we're talking primarily transitional kindergarten through second grade and why it's because the research shows that if we do a really good job for our learners early on in their educational career that builds a foundation they can serve them in in the um rest of their k-12 trajectory so the impact that that's intended to have next slide is to ensure that all all of our students in the primary grades are leaving with the foundational skills necessary to succeed academically next slide the fourth annual priority is also related to um student achievement learning and access so you could see very very focused on instruction and all the instructional supports through these annual priorities this fourth one is about ensuring access to tk12 mental health and wellness
resources and socio-emotional learning experiences and didn't that come up today sam um in the panel right lots of advocacy from our young people from the youth saying you know we have gone through a lot over the course of the last couple years in order for us to be ready to learn we need to feel that our system and the people in our system the adults in our system have tools to offer us around mental health and wellness and that socio-emotional development so the the board has charged us with making that a la again a laser-like focus in this upcoming academic year here's our why next slide improve the mental health of our students across all three levels elementary middle and high okay so those are the four very student-centered very much focused on student achievement
access teaching and learning and instructional supports but those things can't happen and the board realizes that we cannot actualize those instructional priorities without making sure that we have the revenues and the resources to support that work so annual priority number five um the the governance team came up with was generating revenues locally to address our facilities needs we know that um facilities uh require a lot of our attention and they require a lot of resources and we have many of them here in the school district so um we want to make sure that um at the local level we're doing the best that we can in order to generate local revenues we have properties we have we we are pursuing school bonds in both american canyon and the city of napa why because the the
governance team through all their training and experience here we all know that the state does not fund this at the state level and in california the problem is expected to be solved at the local level and that's just a reality of k-12 public education in the state of california which continues to be underfunded and just the facilities needs are not funded by the state so i appreciate the board prioritizing this really really important effort because we want to make sure that our students are in facilities that are warm safe and dry and the bottom line is that warm safe and dry facilities create the best space for those instructional priorities than to also come to life right so our why as articulated by the board was to ensure that nvusd has the resources necessary at
the local level to address the ongoing facilities and technology needs to enhance the teaching and learning okay last but not least is annual priority six so um we need um uh great facilities for for for our kids alongside all of those instructional initiatives but really um the core issue is that we need the people we need high quality staff at all levels in order to breathe life into those instructional initiatives and so the board decided to uh create a priority focused on the talent in the district um acquiring that talent developing that talent retaining that talent because we know the best and the brightest support staff leaders at the site level the central office we can be the game changer in the educational experience for our children so this this annual priority around our human
capital and resources is articulated as such implement talent acquisition development and retention strategies in alignment with diversity equity and inclusion three-year plan um this is connected actually to two of the goals in our strategic plan our hr goal goal number two and goal number five around equity um we do have some work to do in napa valley unified as we continue to bring the best and the brightest in service to our students we also have to address the issue that we want to make sure that our employee workforce also reflects our student demographic and broader community so we're working on that and excited to have assistant superintendent um paige um lead that charge this year okay um ry i think i said it higher hire recruit and retain a talented and diverse workforce just want
to remind everywhere everyone a success that we had was that these six annual priorities much like the ones from last year they serve as the anchor to the superintendent's performance evaluation so the board will be holding me accountable as the superintendent to make sure that we advance those six annual priorities in the 2223 uh school year which is a great accountability mechanism to make sure that we make the appropriate appropriate improvements for our students to um ensure that they have more success than they're having today we also know that part of the job of the superintendent is to attune to the the needs of the governance team and make sure that we as a governance team are also thinking about our effective governance practices and continuously improving those alongside all of this other operational work
that the staff is charged with so um one of the best practices from the california school boards association which we did last year we'll replicate again this year is to articulate how do we need to improve as a governance team so we just can continue to continue to get better as we govern the school district in service to kids so we have picked a governance standard to focus on these are the governance standards provided by the california school boards association so as a governance team we are committed to promoting the success of all students and supports and supports the efforts of the board of trustees to keep the district focused on learning and achievement the research shows that school boards that focus on student learning and student achievement actually move the needle for students and
so we were tremendously successful last year pivoting from a a focus on finance and facilities given our previous circumstances to really starting to focus on teaching and learning and we hope to continue to deepen that improve that and stay focused on learning achievement because those are the governance conversations that are going to make a difference for students like sam and all of his colleagues in schools um i think there's a why here do we have a y next slide yep there it is always want to balance the organizational focus between facilities and finance with an emphasis on student learning achievement programs and services we can't ignore facilities and finance fiduciary responsibilities a big piece of what we do as a governance team you all know that but we we don't solely want to focus on
that we are here our why is education and so we want to stay focused on that as well okay and the last governance standard we chose to focus on for 2223 as we also make improvements as a as a governance team is to um work with the board as a governance team and assures collective responsibility for building a unity of purpose communicate communicating a common vision and creating a positive organizational culture and i appreciated this selection again by the school board um this ensures that we stay aligned and staying focused on students that we have unity of purpose in order to get work done in service to our kids so our why there strengthening us um and then we do um we do we we may have some transitions that come we do have elections
in november and we do have a vacant board seat um and so um as the team potentially evolves post uh the elections we want to make sure that um we're we're building that collective unity of purpose focused around students centered around students because come on the school board that is what the focus needs to be it needs to be around kids so with that those are the six annual priorities and the two governance standards that i look forward to working on with our staff and with all of you as school board members in this upcoming year so thank you um for giving me the time and opportunity tonight to present those reflect them back to you um and also to present them to the community online and here in the boardroom with us tonight and
with that i'm going to um turn to my assistant superintendents for their reports we're going to start with assistant superintendent dana page who oversees human resources all right good evening president jankowitz board of trustees dr masetti and student board representative gomez it's nice to be back in the board room tonight we had a terrific management conference this week as it was mentioned previously and day one was all about the management team and we were all together for the first time and had a glimpse into the complete lineup for the upcoming school year i was thrilled and proud to see the 28 managers who are either new or in different management positions this year that's almost one third of the entire management team which is an amazing hiring feat in this climate but also speaks to

vote please on the pizza issue trustee hi but vera can we start with the student board rep please yes student board member gomez hi trustee jankowicz hi trustee gracia hi rusty water hi trustee reiser aye trustee gonzalez-mares hi thank you very much looks like instructional services is going to make up the presentation portion of the evening um we're going to start with the introduction of supplementary instructional material adoptions for middle schools direct ready yeah the muoc curriculum council recommends the adoption of the following instructional supplementary materials for middle school world language and high school english the first group of supplemental items were reviewed by a team of dual language emerging teachers and administrators from napa valley language academy pueblo vista magna elementary school unidos middle school in napa high school with the support of executive
director of the association of two-way emerg dual language education this team determined the following items to be appropriate and effective for dual language immersion students and supporting them of the common core state standards for spanish language arts specifically reading writing listening and speaking in spanish the middle grades additionally staff will use these resources to strengthen multicultural competency and bilingualism through responsive and engaging pedagogy in alignment with strategic plan goal number one these work center marginalized voices and provides provide the students with the exploration of key historical events and cultural narratives from diverse first-person perspectives as you heard earlier this evening as a part of the board annual priority number two we are seeking to identify core novels as well as vertically and horizontally articulate these resources this recommendation is the first in that process as
well as an opportunity to focus on providing a balanced literacy program that supports students on their path to the seal of my literacy the second recommendation supports students with learning the common core english language arts standards for grades 11 through 12. the content aligns to the course of study for composition and search for meaning in which students explore the themes of human struggle and what gives meaning to life given that the curriculum council reviewed and engaged in a deep discussion of the materials to ensure that the resources meet the educational code specific to the social content as well as our board priority 6144 they determined that the story is a work of fiction and will be explored alongside many diverse world religions and cultural perspectives throughout the course the supplemental material provides students opportunity to
read write and participate in academic discussions in a responsive and engaging manner through the exploration of identity and the human condition which is important at this time in high school as a part of our strategic planning goal number one thank you dr reddy uh mr michaels do we have any public comment on this item uh we do not have a public comment on the senate very much this is just we are not voting this is just a presentation any comments on the material move to the second okay we can move to 1b introduction to supplementary instructional material adoption for high schools yes this was a it's okay this was the second one as well the one focused on the world language thank you very much we are now moving to action items first under general
services resolution 2302 authorizing continued use of remote teleconferencing provisions pursuant to baby 361 and government code section 54953 move to approve first by trustee gracia second second by trustee reiser here yes student board member gomez hi trustee jenkowitz trustee gracia hi trustee water hi trustee ricer aye trustee gonzalez mares thank you [Music] agreement between cue communications and napa valley unified school district move to approve first by trustee gracia second by a second uh second by um trustee gonzalez morris do we have any public comment mr michaels uh there is no public comment for this item student board red hi all in favor aye aye motion passes consideration of appointment of board representatives to board advisory committees with vacancies curriculum and student support committee and policy committee yeah get a motion i believe we have to
discuss this matter before we approve it right it doesn't have an actual yes so thank you very much for that reminder trustee gracia um so tonight we're asking that you uh do one of two things um either we um continue with the vacancies and just run the committees between now and december before there is the elections in the new organization of the board um or if we appoint people who essentially are filling the vacancies that were created by trustee dooley's resignation on the committees that are named there two committees my thought is that we would want to fill the committees with if people are willing to join the committees um certainly i have interest in one but i i don't know if my fellow trustees also have interest i personally would like to join the
curriculum community and do we have anyone that would be interested in taking on the policy committee who's currently in the policy right now it's trustee water it's me and trustee water yeah we do have two people we do and we typically as a board of seven we have three representatives that typically sit on each of the committees so these two are now left with two uh due to trustee dooley's resignation so unless the other community members think they need additional support or help but i think they could stay as an addition we're okay we're not required to have one we're okay with two members sitting um we're fine with it it was uh uh proposed by a trustee and i didn't want to make that unilateral decision since these are board committees so i'm bringing
it up for discussion and decision by all of you but from the staff perspective we're fine working with two people on the committees between now and december is there an issue because we're currently a six-member board of having three trustees on the committee does that get into a numbers issue or is three majority no okay yeah four is majority half is fine half is fine yeah as long as as long as we don't have the majority so we'll just be until uh until the organizational um transition yeah which would be on december the 15th right so are we comfortable with a 3-2 there we are fine staff is fine with that so this is really a decision for the school board trustee gracia would you like to join the curriculum committee i would he's dying
too i would foaming at the mouth i understand okay so we're good all right so do we want it so you want to do a nomination because it uh it does require a nomination does anyone want to join the policy committee before we you know it's a great place for a lawyer there's lots of reading decline thank you i'm do you want to join it twice yeah do you want to retweet my personality for the policy community that sounds like policy staying the same so would somebody like to nominate trustee gracia i like to nominate trustee gracia i'll second it first by um trustee gonzalez mars second by trustee water all in favor of trustee um gracia being on the curriculum committee hi hi should we do a formal vote to maintain policy as is
or should we just leave it as is i think technically it's fine right i think technically and it's a one-off since we're not making any adjustments okay okay so consideration of appointment of board representative board advisory committee with vacancies curriculum yes and we're staying status quo as it is now with policy committee moving on to human resources request a higher educator less than fully credentialed may i get a motion move to approval first by trustee gracia second yes i just want to point out though that if you look at it these people are going to be become fully produced yes this is a moment in time yes thank you for the clarification right second by trusting water mr michaels do we have any public comment on this item there's no public comment on this item
