points, which we'll get into more what they are and why we use them a little bit later. And we also use FiveStar as a program to track involvement. So, as you can see here on the slide, 86.1% of students as of today have participated in at least one school activity on campus. Okay. Now, bear crawling on to football games. So, football games are one of the things that FiveStar is responsible for. So what we do is we host them on our very new, very awesome, thank you very much football stadium that just opened this year. So what we do for this is we create themes and handouts such as USA or neon night as you can see depicted on the pictures. Um what we do here is we decorate the field with balloons, streamers, posters,
and also have the ram tunnel for our football players to run through. So this is just a way for students to not only uh generate school spirit, but also just go out and support their friends um outside of school. So, not only are they able to support the football team, but also our pride of Temple City um as our band and our color guard present their halftime shows during halftime and then also our um pep who also cheer on our football players. >> All right. And now leapfrogging off of Julie's point, uh some of our biggest facilitators of Spirit are our senior class. So, we have to make sure we pay it back to them in every way we can. Uh, what we do for our seniors every year, and this year is no different,
we honor them at every one of their last games. So, at every one of their last home league games, we honor them with a senior night where we deck out the entire stadium or gym, whatever it be, uh, we include decorations, we include customized recognition posters, and with the help of some of our campus groups, balloon arches, streamers, etc. We make sure to really pay it forward to our seniors because, you know, at the end of their four years of high school and at the end of their academic career for now, uh they put in so much work, so much dedication, and we really need to show them how loved and appreciated they are before they move on to the next chapter of their lives. So, not only do we do this for sports, of
course, but we do this for all our extracurriculars, whether it be um whether it be our football teams, volleyball teams, water polo, uh dragon flicks, ASB, we even have our own senior night, so we decorate a bit for ourselves. Um, no matter what group it is, we make sure to pay it forward and we make sure to congratulate them. Okay, now slithering over to redemption table and lunch activities. Our redemption table is a way for our students to redeem their fivestar points through prizes. Uh these prizes act as some sort of recognition for uh their five five star points that they earn through the care culture. And our lunchtime activities are also another way for students to redeem their five star points, but instead of prizes, they get to participate in an activity that happens
every month in front of 311. Um one, for example, one very popular uh lunchtime activity that we had this year was the in the face uh lunchtime activity where students with five to 15 five star points uh each got to by either their friends or administrators. I enjoy being around. >> Okay. So what you just saw was one way that we recognize our student on students on campus and these are our RAM and VAPA videos. So every month we make a short video we post it on our Instagram Instagram dedicating dedicating their students for all their hard work. So our RAM of the month is typically chosen from like a sports team or someone who's an active member of a club. So, we've done videos on um athletes from volleyball and athletes from golf. And
our VAPA spotlight focuses on our visual and performing arts groups. So, we've done videos for members of coro and color guard. And in these short videos edited by our own team members, we get to learn more about their students, their passions, and what inspired them to do what they do. And overall, we make these videos to not only dedicate them for their own indiv individual achievements, but we hope to inspire other students on campus to get involved and pursue what they love to do. >> Hop hop hoping over. Hopping hop hopping over to what N said. I'm gonna be talking about CF crowning is and what we do is we make these uh crowns out of candy and cellophane. you see on like the middle right. Uh and at break we recognize our our student
athletes who have made it to CIF and then we announce their team names and then they say they they give out their their they say their roster and then we also if they qualify to quarterfinals we also give them donuts. We have had five teams who have made it to CIF. Three of them have qualified to quarterfinals and we have had our girls tennis team who have won. Let's give them a hand. >> Okay. So, inching off of what Jacob said, as a part of our job as a fivestar committee, we do a VIP table during the rallies that our assemblies committee hosts. So, in these VIP tables, we order them a custom meal of food and they can buy these through a Google form on our social media that costs around 100 to 155
star points. Um, our students really enjoy this experience and you can see one of our examples. Um, right there is a couple of boys who went to our rally and they had Chick-fil-A. So, this just one of the custom meals that we ordered for them, and I think it's a really good way to keep our students engaged in the rallies and highlight them for earning five star points through our care system. And so, I'm going to hand it off to the senior class. >> Hi, we're the senior representatives. >> My name is Joelina Chong. I'm the senior class president. >> And my name is Milo S and I'm the senior class vice president. >> Okay. So, some of our accomplishments this year. Um first off on the left side we have the our last first
day which was basically um as an executive committee as a whole, we um planned like a theme for our school and we decorated our school for to celebrate our last first day for the seniors. And this year our theme was the Lorax and we had decorations like as you can see in the top photo we had truffle trees and then we also made um the character cutouts from the Lorax and our poster was made by our lovely PR team. And then in the middle we have our class poster making which is a traditional um event that we have and it's basically a competition with the other classes and we paint like um our first spirit week of the year and we hang it along the new building second stories. And then for on the right
side of this slide we have senior sunrise and this year estimated attendance was 250 people. And um we had a bunch of photo opportunities at our senior sunrise. As you can see in the photos on the bottom, we have like a border cutout for like um the photo opportunities. And then we also had a smile, you're a senior poster. And then we also had our big photo op made by our PR team. And we also decorated it with balloon arches. >> Yeah. So, next up, we also have class shirts where we just kind of design shirts and we give them out to our senior class. So, our design for this year is we took inspiration from the Bruno Mars album. As you can see, it's kind of like a winding road. And on that road,
we put the events that we're going to host this year. So, we have prom, we have last day, and we just have a bunch of senior events. And next, we have movie night, which is in essence kind of a small party we had for our seniors who wanted to participate. and we watched Big Hero 6. And we, as you can see there, we have kind of popcorn and we had a cotton candy machine, too. And next we have chill out before finals, which is during finals week, we gave out ice cream to kind of help our students de-stress while taking their tests. >> Wait, going back to our class shirts, we actually brought um one of our class shirts to show you an example. Um this is the front of it. It has like um
like the logo and the back is like the road from the Bruno's sorry Bruno Mars album cover. And then also uh we forgot to say but um our estimated shirt spot for this year was 120 and then our estimated attendance for senior movie night was 80 people. Okay. And then um on the top left we have our showcase. Um, basically we planned this as an executives committee and this was to introduce the incoming um, eighth graders. And below that we also have some infographics from our class councils. And then in the middle we have a photo um, of our senior signin. And basically this was like a trend that or it was like a trend and it's basically a video that we made at Senior Sunrise and um the seniors got to sign their signature
on like a film that was covered over the camera and the estimated participation for this was about 100 people. And then for our grad night preview um I was invited to go to Disneyland to watch a presentation on grad night by the PTA parents. And at the presentation, they basically shouted out Temple City High School because we were the first ones to ever hold our grad night at Disneyland. So, we also had advice from seniors, which we had we went to a bunch of seniors and we had them write kind of their advice for people for next year. And we also are doing commitment posts where we're posting on social media where our seniors are committed to college. And here are our future plans that are going to be coming up in May. First, we
have chalk day, which is where we draw kind of our colleges that we're going to on the floor. And we also have senior picnic. We have senior sunset, which is at the beginning of the year, we did a senior sunrise. And this is kind of signifying the end of our high school career, our end of the end of our senior year. And then we have Christ Scream, which is where we give ice cream. And then we have Gradwalk, where we visit our elementary schools. And we have Last L last day and our countdown. Okay, that's all that we have. Now we're going to pass it off to the juniors. So, hi. My name is Jaden and I'm the junior class president. >> My name is Charlie and I'm the junior class vice president. So this
slide here shows a bunch of our infographics that we have done for the events that are on our that are on our Instagram that has around $350 followers from our student body. So the one on the way left would be our fluff ice fundraiser which we got around $150 from in profit and also said from the other class reps. We do our annual class poster making for the fall rally which we had a a good amount a good amount of attendance as well and as well the ice cream Sunday fun the ice cream Sunday chill out before finals which ex planned as a whole where we gave all of the students free ice cream before finals to calm their nerves and the one tea fundraiser which we got around $300 from the matcha latte fundraiser
that we got $400 profit from. On the bottom, we have more infographics from our class councils. So, we host these in a teacher's classroom, and we encourage students to come play games, get fresh food, and get announcements. So, for example, we've got McDonald's, cup noodles, and pastries. And then on this next slide, we have our class shirts. We actually don't have the physical shirt with us because we sold out, but that's a good thing. So, it's our class color, which is green. If you didn't know, normally on the last day of our spirit weeks, we have class color. So, this is a way for our students to show off their spirit for their class. And we did this year have to raise the price from starting at $15 to $20. So, we decided to give
out Auntie Ann's coupons to encourage people to buy their shirts. >> So, diving deeper into the the coupon. So, me and Charlene reached out to different different like food places that we know the student body likes. So, one of one of which was Auntie Anns. So, they were willing to give us free buy 1 get one free coupons for every shirt purchased, which as you know, who doesn't want a free buy one get one free coupon with their shirt. So, yeah. So, for our last slide, we we just wanted to showcase one of our class councils that was pretty successful. So we have around 60 to 70 um students coming to our class councils where we show different announcements that happen on campus as well as using our class funds to give snacks that we
know stu students would like. As you can see some photos during our class council of many students who enjoy different snacks like walking nachos that we have during January. So that's all we have. So the sophomore class please come up. Thank you. >> Go around. >> Hello everybody. We are the representatives for the class of 2028. My name is Rexen and I am the sophomore class president. >> My name is Kaylin. I'm the sophomore class vice president. >> So we will be going at for a rewind of our year so far and what we have accomplished. So, some of our goals are implementing additional fundraisers to the ones we've already held, as well as increasing student involvement. Some of the ways we want to do that is collaborating with other classes and groups such as
our juniors and our freshmen to get to know each other more and engage in fun participating events. And some things we're working on currently are planning our April and May class councils as well as contacting other businesses for more fundraising opportunities. So as the other classes have mentioned, we have completed our class posters which is this annual event where the classes create this giant poster that represents a spirit day of the week of our first rally. We have done we have distributed our class shirts. This is our design right here. This is the front side and this is the back side. We took inspiration from superstars because we all are superstars. And we believe that all of our events were really great, but we feel like these four events have stood out to us the
most. First, we have our classes that we have shown you guys right here. We have sold 47 of them. And our second event was our class posters because we completed this ginormous 15 by ft poster within six seven hours and it was in the hot weather as well. And our third was one of our class councils that we've done. We have done a smithky giveaway which the which students of our class would submit a Google form to apply for this giveaway. And our last one was our popsicle fundraiser because not only did we was it the first fundraiser of the year, but we also sold out within an hour because it was a really hot day. >> So, some of our class of 2020 highlights for this year was our ASB sophomores at fall rally
and Halloween to encourage school spirit amongst the class. And these are just some of our promotional infographics we've used this year for our class councils and mentioned earlier our class shirt. >> Representing over 450 students of this class, we are proud of the accomplishments that we have done so far this year. So with all that said, we will be passing it on to the freshmen. Thank you. >> Go Rams. >> Hello everyone. and I hope everyone's having a good afternoon. My name is Jason Chi, your freshman class president. >> My name is Carrie Chang and I'm your freshman class vice president. So, here's a little look of our road map from this year. Um, some of our goals include to increase our social media. Currently, we have 200 plus followers and 42,000 profile views um
just in October. Um we want to find some more exciting fundraisers that we can bring onto campus and also incre increase our grid participation to closer to that 100% and also incorporate some more um of those freshman focused activities. >> So, some of the things that we're having in progress right now are planning our future class councils which are going to be in April and May. We're also searching for new fundraisers like Jason just said and we are also planning staff appreciation week with execs. >> Um some of the things that we have completed is our class shirt distribution. So we also sold out of shirts but we took the initiative to bring our own shirt. So um so our shirt high uh takes inspiration from Formula 1 and we use that one to utilize
uh like that that first year of freshman. So here's our front and here's our back. Um some of the other things we have done is our monthly class councils that we host every single month. Um and going along with that we have our labu giveaway that we've host at our class council which we had a total of 57 entries. And um some other things we had was our class poster making and our first first day of f uh first first day photos which um basically what we did was we went around campus um on our first day and we took a bunch of photos with the freshman basically just to memorize that date because we believe that um that first day of high school is very important. Um some other things we did as execs
was um our oak showcase and chill out before finals uh like what our peers have talked about already. But um moving on is some of our highlights. Um if I can grab your attention to the left of the photos. Um thanks to link crew and their freshman orientation. Uh that's kind of what happened over there. There's a photo with some of the boys and um on the right we have a photo of our first rally and beneath it we have some photos of the freshman throughout various uh spirit weeks. >> So on the bottom center we can see our class poster making which we had around 20 people attend. We also have some of our freshmen at chill up before finals where they got ice cream to relax. And on the very bottom we have
a group of freshman boys wearing pink to support breast cancer awareness. Thank you. And now we will be bringing it over to our treasure, Ethan Lee. All right. Hello everyone. As you know, I'm the treasure and next year I'll be a vice president. Okay. So, I'm going to go over the top three financial activities so far we had this year. And I'm going to look at clubs and student groups versus ASB. So for clubs and student groups, we've had the Little Mermaid musical, which was a big success. And we sold merchandise, program ads, and for Dragon Flex's Ram Slam talent show. It was also a big success. Mr. Kid for Dragon Flex really hosted it, and it was a big it was awesome event. And individual student and clubs holiday boutique. So every year campus
committee facilitates like a little holiday boutique with a bunch of individual sellers and clubs to sell knickknacks like blind boxes, crocheted goods. So that all went down this year. And for ASB, we've had our homecoming and winter formal dance, which is very eventful, and slushy fundraisers and cinnamon roll fundraisers. So, here are some activities we want for coming up. We have for the clubs and student groups there, art club is going to sell postcards, stickers, and photo card fundraiser. And Scosio is going to have a snow cone fundraiser, which I think will be a big success because of the upcoming heat. And FLA is going to do a crumble cookie fundraiser. And now for ASB, we have prom dance, Mr. GC and a Paradise Ice Cream Chuck. And of course, so updates from our office.
We passed our audit for the 2526 school year with zero errors for the third year in a row. Yeah, I'm very happy about this success. And Miss Chu and I have been currently working on closing out inactive accounts and moving the money to groups that actually exist. And of course, we're updating the fundraiser expenditure request form to be more a little more active updated. And now, let's give a hand for Xavier. Thank you so much, Ethan. So, those who who do not know me, my name is Xavier Munoz, and I am this year's student board member. So, as we are all aware, we do have a potential bond coming up. Our last bond ended will end soon with our stadium complex at our Temple City High School. So, throughout the past couple of weeks, I
have been asking students on our Temple City High School campus this question. Would or would you not be interested in having a potential new bond? If you are interested, what would you like to see updated or added? If you're not interested in a potential bond, why not? Okay. And here I'm just going to highlight some of our students responses. So first up we have Taylor Fam who is a senior. She said, "I would be in favor of a new bond and I think it would be really helpful if we could remodel the inside of our science classes in the older buildings." We also have Ellison who plays volleyball. He says that I think that a new bond would be really useful since I play volleyball and I think that we can update the gym, specifically
the flooring. Some of our responses do include Wesley Chan who's a sophomore and Jolene Leang. Wesley says that I really like the 100s and 200s because of the extra monitors located around the classroom. I think that a new bond would be really beneficial to our students by adding additional Mars monitors that way everyone in the classroom can see the board. And then we also have Jolene Leang who said that I would really like to see a new bond because I think that the school could benefit from having better Wi-Fi. She says that in some of her classes it does take a little while to load Canvas and certain websites and that affects her very valuable class time. And then next up we have our freshman Rebecca Lee. She said, "I would really like to see
a new bond because I think that it could go towards the gym and other resources. I think that it would be pretty useful if you were to have air conditioning and new bleachers." One thing I do want to point out is that through all of my surveys and questions, I did not find a single student who said no to our bond, which is so wonderful to hear. And next up, I would like to talk about some of our changes that some of our admin have doing been doing like Miss Lee over there. So, one thing we have added this year is our home room schedule, which happens on the first Wednesday of every month. In these home room classes, we have grade specific lessons and they're designed to support our students outside of the classroom
and outside of their typical science, math, and fundamental classes. And in these home room sessions, we help provide mental health strategies, state testing, state testing tips. And specifically for our seniors, we have our college readiness tips. And we can't along with our wonderful Bluey lessons. And along with home room, I cannot talk about our wonderful care culture. So care stands for communication, accountability, respect, and empathy. And these are all traits that our we want our students to achieve and strive for. And this is also a reflection of our positive behavior intervention program at our high school. And the point of this is to help our students strive to achieve better and improve their well-being. And this is also to help promote instant engagement as well. So for example, if a teacher sees one of our
students representing one of these care um characteristics, they can help they can give these um students five star points, which helps boost our overall student morale and engagement. And this concludes our wonderful ASV presentation. Next up, do you guys have any questions for our ASV? >> Any questions? Anybody? >> Yes. >> What is the difference between a campus club and an interest club? >> So we have two different categories for our clubs. Canvas and interest. Like mentioned before our interest clubs are more for hobbies and interest. They don't deal with any money. Again, just focus on hobbies. Campus clubs on the other hand, they do focus with money. So one of our big clubs on campus, Skills USA, is a campus club for example. They go to competitions, they do events. So a campus club
would require money. And yes, like that. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Any other questions, comments? >> It's not really a question, but I just want to thank each and every one of you for the time and dedication you give to making high school experience better for your your fellow students at the high school. You're already stepping up and saying, "I'm going to serve the other students here." And sounds like you're making every day it's at the high every day in those four years enjoyable. You're guiding them. You're guiding them. You're taking care of helping them express themselves in their clubs. But I really want to thank all of you for your dedication to your your fellow students. So, thank you all. >> I just wanted to say thanks for the very engaging and entertaining presentation
today. It was nice to have this meeting at this time because we could see a lot of your accomplishments whereas before it was mostly like what you were planning. Um, and I also like the energy of very close-knit group here and I think that is a really important piece of working on a team no matter what you're doing whether it's in school in high school or in college or in the work environment um being able to engage with others and work together as a team um is a really critical piece and it shows with what you deliver to the students. So thank you for your work. >> Go ahead. All right. So, you guys, you all rock. Okay. All of you. All right. Um, coming from someone who as a student did not want to
have anything to do with ASB. And ironically, my best friend was Mr. ASB. So, you can see how that worked out. Um, and you know, I want to say that a big reason of why I'm here today is because of that experience. I may have been draw through it. In the beginning, I was wondering why I was doing it, but by the end of it, I was so appreciated to have had that experience. Now, for all of you that already have this natural sense of civic engagement, wanting to share and give back with your fellow students, you guys are all amazing. you guys are going somewhere. Don't know where, but please come back and check in with us someday. Um, and uh, this was by far the most comprehensive presentation I've seen of all the,
you know, uh, in in recent memory. Just amazing stuff. So, great job you guys. Congratulations. Yeah. Hold on. I I would like to uh offer my comments and I really hope Vincent said a lot of the things I thought of presentation outstanding really nicely done great graphics and the enthusiasm all comes through and it all helps you become better students and more successful in life because you got that experience. So thank you my pleasure to be here and watch you guys. Um yeah, I just wanted to say that was an excellent presentation. You guys do a great job. Um thank you for everything you do for your fellow students and for Temple City High School. And I did want to make uh one comment to the group is I'm the parade chair for the Chamilleia
Festival. And if you have any clubs or any groups at the high school that would like to march in the parade, they are always welcome to do so. Um when your um uh ons to the chameleia festival attend the meetings they can get the information about the parade and they can pass it on to the rest of the group. So thank you very much >> Mark do you want to say anything before we close or >> yes I I I will say I I truly do appreciate the work that all of you do. Um you guys make our events worth going to. Um, I know how difficult it is to engage fellow students. Um, and I see how hard you try to do that. Um, and I really do commend you for that. Um, and
you never give up. Uh, so I I do appreciate that. I I will say I love the themes for the dances, but the whole time I was trying to make the connection on the Tokyo drift and chos like how did I miss something there or >> I got you. All right. All right. There you go. There you go. >> Nice. >> But but good job you guys. I I really do appreciate you. >> Oh, I'll stand up. I guess I'll step here if I'm already here. So, it started off um during our summer camp. We went to a leadership camp at UC Santa Barbara. And while while we were there um by the end of our was it four or five days the four days there um at the end of our fourth day we
just started rapping and saying so now anytime we agree with one another we just love to show our support. So when you guys were giving our comments we wanted to show we agreed with you by saying >> yeah so thanks guys. Thank you. >> And uh at the risk of being a little pushy, we have got another meeting that's going to start in just a few minutes. So I'm going to go ahead and call for a motion to adjurnn. Have a motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Motion from member Georgina and a second from member Bill. >> All in favor, please say I. >> I. You're right. >> Yes. Sure. >> Closing the meeting. >> Yeah. Okay. We'll just >> Okay, we'll just stand back here. >> All in favor, please say I. >> I.
>> And Vincent, I don't think I heard you. >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. So, the motion carries 5 and we're close at like 52. >> 528. >> Okay. >> Yeah. We'll lose Melissa. >> Sure. You're right. >> Sit down. The tall people in the back. Hurry up. When I count, two Okay. try. It was too It was fun. Yeah, and uh call the meeting to order for the regular board of education on Wednesday, April 8th. It's 5:35 p.m. We got in a little bit of late. And with that, I'm going to call for a roll call. Member Espinosa >> here. >> Member Georgina >> here. >> Member Snee >> here. >> Member Bill >> here. I'm here and me. Student member Javier Munz. Oh, he's not with us right now, but he'll be back
shortly. >> Oh, there he is. >> Xavier, are you here? >> Sorry, I'm here. >> Okay, very good. Okay. Uh, tonight's meeting is being digitally recorded. I want to let you know about that. And our pledge tonight will be led by Cara Havalan who is with the giving group. >> Put your right hand over your heart. Ready? Begin. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. >> Thank you, Cara. >> Okay, that we're on to item five, changes to the agenda. And I know we do have some changes. You want to share? >> Yes, sir. Uh, tonight we're going to need to pull items uh 22 and 23 from the
agenda for a future meeting. >> Okay. So, I need a motion and a second to approve the agenda as stated by Art. May I have a second? Um I see press preferential vote. >> Yes. >> Okay. And the rest all in favor? Well, I didn't ask for motion in a second. >> Yeah, I did. Okay. All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Okay. The motion carries 5. >> That we're on to item seven, which involves some special recognition tonight that we always enjoy. And we're going to start first with the Oak Avenue Giving Bach. >> Well, hello. We're going to get our guys set up real quick first and then they're going to do the speaking. Come on over. So, the Oak Avenue students will present what's uh going to be up there
for you and say a little bit Good evening everyone. Today we we will be playing Giving Bach. What is Giving Bach? In 2009, Richard Meyer created Giving Bach to help our students gain empathy and compassion through performing and sharing their instruments in an interactive concert. The goal of Giving B is to enrich the lives of young people by providing opportunities for student musicians to perform concerts with their peers. The performances are educational, interactive, and help the students learn empathy and compassion for others. How we invite small groups of students to come to our music room where we present a concert that shows off each instrument of the band or orchestra. Then we invite students into the orchestra so that we can share our instruments with them. We teach them how to play four notes with
us. Preparation. We've got music and music. Music with the I capitalized which symbolizes the individual musician and music with the U and S capitalized us. This symbolizes the entire orchestra along with the audience. We give a lesson on the goals for the concert and how to teach the instruments. Here are the goals. One, the number one and most important goal is for my partner, which would be the kids to feel successful and have fun. >> Two, how to communicate. Eye contact, smile, speak clearly, be and be sensitive to personal space. Observe how they are reacting and adjust your teaching. Three, demonstrate, ask, guide. We also we have also in the past given these concerts for special needs students, including visually impaired students. In order to continue preparation and create empathy, we have lessons from our
VI teachers as well as create a sightfree lunch. This is where our students learn to eat lunch while blindfolded. It is our beliefs that the student performers receive more enrichment from learning how to use their music to help others than those who hear them play. Giving back has helped our students to gain so much empathy and compassion for others. One quote Mr. Taylor likes to say toward the end of the year is, "Find something you really like doing, get really good at it, and then give it away." Quoted by Richard Meyer. The Oak Avenue Band and Orchestra students would like to thank the numerous people who have generously donated to our program so that we have these performance opportunities. We are also grateful for our district administrators and board for their continued support. And as
the rest of them are getting in place, we'd like to demonstrate what this looks like. The first piece we're going to play is a piece that we would demonstrate uh showing off our violins. Sometimes we have a piece also for violist. We have a piece for our piece for our bass players. Tonight we're just going to play our piece for our violinist. And you'll see that really quick as soon as they're getting set up. And here we go. Okay, now we can play. One, two, THANK YOU. AND NOW IF if Rich if you guys want to go ahead and have a seat. Uh you guys go ahead and find somebody behind you. The next thing we usually do is we go and we invite the students into the orchestra. They come in and they sit
next to us. We show them their their um instruments. Go ahead and go around, guys. Go all the way around. Uh Jacob, go ahead and step to your left. Go that way. and they're going to go uh teach one of the people right now while I'm talking to introduce their instrument. And stay here. And Mr. Salazar, we we have we need you up here. We need you. We have something needs to be fixed. You're going to teach some bass. >> Um I think this gentleman over here would like to learn how to play right here. >> Okay. right there. Oh, right here. Uh Jacob wants to show you his base. >> So, right now what they're doing is they're teaching uh this their their student how to play four notes. They're going to show them
how to play four notes. Okay. So, they're going to put it in their hands >> and they're showing them how to use the bow. Now, That was just a test. >> All right. Haven't played four notes. They're going to play in a second. Show them how to do it. All right. And everybody pause for just a second. Everybody pause for just a second. So now, usually the rest of the orchestra plays a little something. I'm going to do it through a recording and then they're going to play the four notes when they need to. And I'll set this back down. So, here we go. Oh, sorry. >> Here we go. We're going to tell you when to play. Give him a hand. >> And you have one more thing. Then we're going to say then
we're going to say we have one more thing we need their help with. >> Don't forget your your um don't forget your uh >> Yeah. Okay. Here we go. They're going to hold it for us. One. >> They're going to hold the music for them. One, two, three, go. Ready. And two, three. Very nice. And then we have something for our students. Every time we give our students a little certificate. >> Yeah. >> Students, on your way out, please take your stand on your way out. He's gonna give you guys >> Okay. And give them a hand on their way. Oh, did Yeah, there we go. Not done. Stay there. Stay there, guys. Stay there, Jacob. We have some certificates. It's encursive. None of them. Thank you. Guys, you guys window. Come on. Turn your
face right. Thank you guys. Okay, I'll go ahead and get started back now. That was just a wonderful opportunity to feel like you're part of the band standing in the middle of it and listening to everything they're they're playing. It was really nice. Really really nice. Uh so with that, we're going to move on to our second special recognition tonight and this is for TCHS Advanced System Design. Somebody coming up to talk about that? I don't have the name. Yeah, we have Dave Dicki. Dave Dicki, I'm sorry. Well, good evening. Um, uh, Superintendent Kuna, distinguished members of the Temple City, uh, Unified District Board of Education, and fellow educators, parents, and students. Um, it's my great pleasure to recognize a group of outstanding young engineers from Temp City High School's advanced system design class. Um,
these are these are third-year students in the engineering program. Tonight, I'm proud to present the Solworks Professional Certification Certificates to these students who successfully passed the rigorous national certification exam. Earning the CSWP, which is a certified professional credential um is a significant achievement. It demonstrates advanced proficiency in 3D parametric modeling, complex assemblies, engineering design principles of skills that are highly valued in today's engineering and manufacturing industries. Uh these students have shown exceptional dedication, technical talent, and a strong work worth work worth work ethic throughout the course. Their success reflects the high quality of instruction and the commitment to excellence that defines T City High School. Um would the following students please come forward as I call your name to receive your well- earned Solworks professional certification. So first is Josie U. >> You're not going
anywhere yet. All right. Next is Joseph Young. >> Next is Eden Song. Mrs. Hawkins. Next is Justin M. Next is Wesley Long. >> Next is Jasmine Lee. and Louis Lamb and Matthew Kong. Is Matthew here? And Talu So, congratulations to each of you. We're incredibly proud of your accomplishment and excited to see the bright futures you will build with these skills. >> Congratulations, Hang on a sec. Let me grab We got one more student. I don't think it's going to help. There you go. Can we go this way? Mr. Dicki, before you leave, Mr. Dicki, before you leave, I want to thank you for all the years you've devoted to your program. um you've taken it above and beyond and you find you found new ways to expand the program for your students. So, I
just want to I want to thank you personally for all the years you devoted to your program. Thank you so much. I just want to say it's really this community that really supports retiring. Well, two great presentations. A nice way to start the evening, certainly. Uh, with that, we're back to the agenda. Item eight, public comment. Need to know if anybody submitted anything. No. Okay, nobody submitted anything. And with that, we're on to community update. And I have just one item tonight. Uh, Mike Fong, who's the uh local person representative for our the 48th or ninth district. Uh he's got some recognition he's trying to do for young people who are interested in possibly the legislation and he's taking a group of people. I don't know how many the total will be, but an education
for two weeks and learning about what legislators do. And uh the the need to fill out an application, it's due on April 19th, which isn't very far It's nine days, I guess. Yeah, nine days. Um, and you submit it and see what happens after that. But if people are interested, you can go to his website and pull up his information and go ahead and the questionnaire application there. Okay. Okay. With that we are on to bargaining unit uh comments starting first with CSA 105 and I don't think Denise is here now. Okay then uh CSA 823 Jasmine Thomas you want to say >> thank you. And then with that we're on to TCA you have. >> All right. All right, >> it's all good news. Uh, I just want to uh thank everybody on uh
the district side of our negotiations. We finally settled for the 25 26 school year today. Uh so thank you to Connie, to Richard, uh to Stacy, to uh Jessica and Jurus, who well Stacy didn't join us, but I know you were doing stuff and art. Uh so it was a very very collaborative year. um for both parties and so thank you all for all of your hard work and uh thanks for everything. Hope uh next year goes as well if not better. >> Thank you. Okay, with that we are on to district updates starting first with business services and Tani Woo. >> I'm here. >> Good evening and I was um I want to echo what um Alas said that um TCA did a fantastic job um to um their financial portion. So I'm very
impressed. So yeah, we are looking forward to to seeing another great year for the 26 27. So today the LEGO sent us a draft letter made comment for district 2526 second to report which is affirming district positive certification. So the final letter will be sent to our board president and Mrs. too soon enrollment and starting April um our enrollment very stable up to today which is 5,299 which is consistent at the last year's CBS number which is 5,298 so we are very encouraged by this stabilization of our enrollment and we continue welcome and students to come to Temple University School District just like we presented the music show couple minutes ago and We also encourage all the student to enroll for 26 27 school year because our open enrollment already open for every students in
the community or in the boundary community. The 25 230 dietary guideline for American war was officially released in early January. This new addition reflect a notable shift in the federal nutrition guideline including the students um students we serve in the public schools. So there's a major shift and then changes emphasize the whole healthy food recommendation including the additional um potent intake and minimize the ultrarocessed food. So this um the The whole philosophy behind this guideline is intend to promote overall healthy and reduce the risk of the diseases for our young kids. So the district um with all the public school um district we will implement this changes effective July 1 2027 which is 2728 school year and all the manufacturer including distribution they're working on the guideline to update the the um supplies they will
um eventually to support the school with the changes that's my update for today. >> Great thank you K. Okay, next up we're gonna hear from Dr. Stacy about educational services. Stacy, what do you have for us? >> Yes. Good evening. I wanted to start off by saying thank you to Amy Gerling, our curriculum coordinator, for pulling off a fantastic family literacy night event last month. Um, and special special thanks to the Longden staff for being willing to host this event for another year. And I also want to thank all the families that took the opportunity to come out and see Lulu Chang, our featured um author for the year. She's the owner of Biddy Bow Books. And so we were thankful that she was able to share a little bit about um her literature with
our students. Also, this is starting the season of uh our CASP testing. CASP testing has launched at many of our schools and will continue to do so over the course of the next few weeks. Students in grades three through eight and in grades 11 will be testing in English language arts, math, and science. And so we encourage all of our parents to help our students eat a good breakfast um go to bed on time and just do their best on the test um when it is time to take that test in the classroom. And special thanks to all of our teachers that have done such a great job with rigorous lessons throughout the school year to be able to um provide the students what they need to be prepared for the test this month. And
then lastly, our English learners continue to participate in the ELPAC assessment that opened at the beginning of February. And I can tell you that we have five of our seven schools that have completed um ELPAC testing at this time. And I want to thank our EL coordinators across the district for continuing to work collaboratively to help each other um with getting all of our students tested um at each of our schools. And then also special thanks at um the secondary level, our designated EL teachers uh helped the EL coordinators this year with group testing for the ELPAC and that is just much appreciated. So um best of luck to all of our students uh during this testing season. Thank you, Stacy. And then moving right along to human resource services, Richard Lman, what do you
have for us? >> Good evening, everybody. Um, I also want to thank our union team. So, Elias, I appreciate all your words. Um, we've had very productive meetings with 105 on Monday, TCA was today, and I'm looking forward to meeting with 823 on Friday. Um, we continue to have great working relationships, and we have this shared commitment that always comes through in our meetings that we do right by our students, we do right by our staff. Um, I also wanted to share that we're in the final stages of selecting teachers for summer school. Um, I want to thank all the teachers who have shown interest in working with our students over the summer. Um, I want to thank our HR team. I want to especially thank Daryl and Cindy for the hard work they put
in, but also Stamy, Stamy, Stacy, Amy, Lou, Railene, um, our site principles and all the people who are involved. Summer school seems like it just happened. Summer school does not just happen. It is a large undertaking running a school program after school has ended. Um so without everyone involved, it would not be what we see each year. So um my special thanks to all of them. Stammy >> that might stick. >> Very good. Thank you, Richard. Thank you. >> Okay, now we're moving on to um item 12, board member comments, and we're going to start first tonight with Vincentville. Vincent. >> Oh, all right. Good evening, everyone. Um you know, we haven't been here, haven't had a meeting in about three weeks, but it's been really quite busy. I hope everyone had a wonderful spring
break and welcome back. Um I want to start off by again echoing uh comments by uh Dr. Ayes about uh the family literacy night. I thought that was a wonderful, wonderful event and it's so good to see turnout uh from our young uh students uh that evening. Um and of course, and I'm not going to get too far because all my other fellow board members are going to say something about this, but it was an honor to be at the Golden Apple Awards to honor none other than our uh you know, Mr. Buyers. I mean, you just he's an icon in the community. Um and there's so much to be said about him. Uh but Matt knows that we all love uh his time and everything his heart that he's given to our students. Um
okay so uh STEM report. Oh we are a little busy. Um okay so um our uh our girls on our Racer X2 team uh were invited to be part of an open panel for a uh event at the Peterson's Auto Museum. It was a a uh junior concourse event that was designed to encourage uh young kids as young as four or five years old to 12th graders to submit an entry for vehicle designs. and uh they were judged by panels uh distinguished panels from uh Peterson's uh staff as well as some outside and this year they invited uh Tesla's chief of design uh France von Hull's house and so it was really nice uh the kids got to meet and uh kind of interact and he was really blown away by the level of what
uh these girls have accomplished so far and uh it was again a great opportunity to network um you know I uh got some u questions from some parents that uh we came across across there and want to thank Dr. Kuna. He was present with us at that event as well. And the two most common questions that we got or at least that I received was um where was Temple City and um how are you guys doing this? And you know and I think the second answer when I tell them that the students are self sustaining, they support themselves through it was was was a little hard for them to to to kind of comprehend at the beginning but you know we kind of walk them through how they kind of support themselves. So, um I
give great credit to um our kids and our staff for continually supporting them. Um okay, what's next? What was next? Oh, yeah. Okay. So, um on the 28th of March, that was on a Saturday. Uh LEGO held this event called engaging girls in STEM. And it was a very focused program that was targeted towards promoting STEM among uh young women and young girls. And it engages uh 6th to 12th grade kids. Um and um they what they do is they bring all these uh professionals and ambassadors in one place. And so all these kids get to come and interact with them and talk to them. They get to share you know um their their professions, how they got to their uh to their careers and if that was of interest to some of our students.
Um and uh it was a a very very uh really wonderful event for our kids to be at. Um there were roughly about 200 participants from uh districts all across LA County. Uh we kind of brought 54. Uh and I wasn't really shy about that. I was just really good at deflecting questions. But um um it was wonderful. We had kids from our elementary schools, middle school, and high school almost in even numbers about 20 each. So uh or not quite. My math's not good. Um anyway, uh it was a wonderful event and uh we hope that this is something that we can continue to participate in in the future. And of course um you've got um the STEM nights that have been happening at Longen, at Emperor and Cloverly. And I'm really heartened by
the turnout of both the students, the families, and um and seeing this really kind of start to really grow quite a bit at the at the elementary level is it's it's a wonderful thing to see. It shows that there's there's a lot of interest in these areas uh for our students. Um well um Jason Lou our ource uh Edison scholar uh so incredibly wonderful for him to receive this award. $50,000 to go towards college. Uh he's the second that we've had in I think the last one was in 2023 with Jackie Lee. Uh so you know real quick short connections between you know these kids they at one point participated either in our science olympiad or our uh heliotech solar car programs. So again I think they're they're you know these experiences allow for them
to apply their their their passion their interest and you know we're very grateful that Southern California Edison recognizes that. Um and uh so and also our our C perch ROV unit competed this past weekend in San Diego and both our team from Oak Avenue, well there were six teams that competed and we have uh a representative both at Temple City High School and Oak Avenue Middle School that's going to be going to nationals in Maryland at the end of at the end of school. So it'll be interesting. I'll have to work that out. Uh but big congratulations to them. They've worked all season to, you know, get to that point. Um, and uh, let's see. Oh, there's Lar Roa STEM. That's going to close out elementary for this coming Friday. So, rain or shine, we're
there. Hopefully, no rain. Um, and oh, yeah, our high school science Olympiad team has a date with Destiny. So, let's see what happens this Saturday. So, they're going into state competition. Um, and I again, um, first instrument I ever played. I don't know why I never tried it before. I think it was wonderful. Um and uh Mr. predicting what uh members needed and I wanted to you know I'll say it now um such an inspiration to generations of students and you know my daughter took all of his classes and he not putting pressure on him but he was that piece that made me believe that we could start all these teams because we had all these students that have incredible passion, incredible knowledge, capacity, passion, interest, you name it across the board and a lot
of that was nurtured through his classes. Out of all those kids that were here, I knew almost all of them and through some shape or form from some of these teams that they participated. So, we're going to miss him. He's again a picture in our community. So, he's he's been incredible. So, thank you, Mr. Dicki, for everything. And that's it for me this even. >> Great. Thanks, Vincent. Next online, Mary Sneed. >> Thank you. Um Okay, I really enjoyed our meeting tonight before this meeting with the ASB officers. Uh they just are simply the best of the best. Uh they devote so much time and effort uh to their serving their fellow students and it was just a really nice presentation they made and I think Javier had Mr. Muno's here had a big part
in putting that together. Thank you. Um, and I want to thank the giving back program from Oak Avenue. Um, it's been running for several years, ever since um, Richard Meyers was in our district. And it's just so it's just br so much enjoyment. Uh, it's it's fun to watch them interact with like kindergarteners. The kindergarters probably did better than I did, but I now I know I didn't play violin in my life. Um, but I really like the idea that Empathy is the B is one of the core values that they have in there. I think the world needs a lot more empathy right now. Um I also just I I'm glad we could recognize all the amazing students from the advanced system design program. Uh Mr. Dicki has just done a remarkable job. Um
his so many of his students have gone on to make a real change in the world and um when we were there uh Friday for Jason's uh award, what I was almost in tears when he was announced and all of his friends in the back row stood up and applauded him. That's, you know, they just feel so happy for him and it was just amazing to see that. Um yeah, I'm just so proud of Jason, um who got that Edison award last week. Um he was in my last class before I retired and it was wonderful to just see the fine young man that he has grown into and he's just going we talked to him afterward and just the focus that he has on making a positive change in the world that is a
big part of why he was awarded that very large scholarship. Uh family literacy night was a wonderful night. The parents are having a good time. The kids are having a good time. Um we we went into the room where the DI teacher was uh doing presentation and the families were just really engaged and she was explaining things very easily that we could understand it too. Uh but it was really a nice evening. Uh congratulations to Matt Buyers for earning for winning the being recognized with the Golden Apple Award. U he keeps giving back to the district even after he's retired. He's been retired for many years now, but he's still giving back to the district. Um, want to congratulate the members of our high school jazz bands who did really well in their recent music
festival and good luck to the indoor drum line as they leave for Ohio this weekend for their competition. Um, I want to thank Cloverly and congratulate them for a great steam night and long for their STEM night. And I want to thank all the high school students who come back and help at these events. And uh the Helio Tech team I think was at every one of one car or another. Um there was one father at the Longden STEM night that was really excited that his daughter who is nine years old now could participate when she's in high school. So I kind of you know the girls over here will have a lot more answers for you. So, they were very happy to share what they were doing. I wasn't able to make uh uh
the Emperor STEM night, but I know it was definitely a fun night for the families. And I wanted to congratulate Ember for a wonderful open house. They kind of kicked off our open house season. Uh the rooms looked absolutely beautiful. Um it really showed there was a lot of fun learning going on in those classrooms. So, I'm looking forward to the the rest of the open houses. There's another one tomorrow night at the DDSLC. Uh so I'm really looking forward to that. That's it. Thank you. >> Great. Thank you, Mary. And then now we'll turn to Donna Georgina. Donna, >> thank you. Uh it's a bus been a busy time. Um um I attended the um musical twice and um I it was great and one of these years I'm going to attend every single
performance that they have because every time I go I always pick up something that I missed in the previous performance. So that was very enjoyable and congratulations to everyone who was involved in that. I also attended literacy night at Longden School. Um thank you to Amy. She does such a great job with that. I attended a Temple City High School baseball game and uh it's just such a pleasure to be out there on that beautiful field and uh with all the beautiful amen amenities. Um and a big thanks to uh one of our alumni students um Kevin Irish who made the signs out there for the field. Uh, I attended the last Kuana student of the month and that's always a fun thing to attend and see our students get recognized and um hear all
the interesting things they have to say about um what they'd like to build or what they'd like to change. They're just um just uh so I don't know smart. Um I attended the city council reorganization. Our new mayor is William Man who is also one of our parents um and has two children in our schools, one at Cloverly and one at Longden. So congratulations to him. And the mayor pro Tim is Ed Chin who um also has a child in our school at Emperor. So our city council is well represented in our school district. At Temple City High School, I attended a signing ceremony again. very fun thing. We get to do a lot of fun things here on the board sometimes. Um signing ceremony for two students at Temple City High School, one in
golf and one in baseball and they'll be going on to play at division one schools um during their college career. Um congratulations to Matt Buyers. Um you everybody knows all the wonderful things he has done for the school district um during his time as a teacher but also as a volunteer. He has not let up at all. He's still giving all his free time to the school district. So, he really uh deserved the golden apple and that was really fun. Uh see, board member Espinosa and I participated in the CSBA legislative action week with uh we got to speak to Mike Fong about some of the um issues that CSBA would like to see um in terms of funding for schools. And um we're a little lucky because very receptive. So, we're we're kind of
pre preaching to the choir, but I think he has so many things going on. He doesn't always know what is uh really important to us and what um the details are of some of these things. So, I think it's a good use of our time to be able to explain that to him. Uh I attended the Emperor open house. I attended a track meet at Temple City High School. Um, again, it so much fun being out there at that beautiful facility and seeing all our kids doing their thing and being able to participate in events that they didn't get to before because we didn't have the facilities. Uh, I attended the spring musical festival at the Good Sheeperd Church and that was really beautiful and really fun. Um it was our um choirs, vocal choirs
and um brighter side singers and they also had some students from the high school that were in the orchestra that played music and it was a very enjoyable night. So that was another thing that I really had a good time at. I attended the uh steam nights at Longden Cloverly and Emperor and uh like member Sneed uh what I think these events would not be nearly uh the events that they are if it wasn't for our own students are running so many of the activities there not just high school students there's students from Oak and in some cases students from the uh elementary schools that are conducting activities so um thank you to all of them made really good um steam nights. I got to attend the presentation of the Edison Scholar to Jason and
uh it was really fun. He had a great reaction. He was totally shocked and he lost for words but then he found his words and he was quite talkative. Um so that was fun. Um I want to congratulate our jazz bands who participated in a recent competition and um got uh several awards. Also, our Temple City High School students who competed in the Los Angeles County Science and Engineering Fair, and several of them did very well. Congratulations to Livia and Olivia who were finalists for the William G. Ericson Photography Competition. And uh of course uh congratulations to Drumline which finished first in the WGI Western Regional Competition. This is the third year in a row that they are regional champions and they are having a fundraiser uh Friday night at the high school to raise
money for their national competition which will be in Dayton, Ohio. So if you have uh time, please go and see. uh they're going to do a performance and other groups are going to be performing, but it is to raise funds for their trip. And um also another upcoming event you might want to put on your calendars is PTA is hosting the Wizards basketball team at Temple City High School on April 26 at 400 PM. Uh if you haven't been before, it's really fun. So um mark your calendars for that. And uh lastly, I wanted to uh comment on um a good friend of the school district that we lost this past week. Um and also was a friend of mine. Bob Spartnik passed away. Um Bob was very involved in the schools and in PTA
for many many many years. In fact, he was the recipient of the Golden Apple Award um in 2010. um with PTA. I know he did the reflections uh contest for several years and uh he was known as Dr. Bob because he had a doctorate in horiculture and he used to use his skills at the schools doing beautifification projects. Um, I actually didn't get to know him well until after his daughters had already graduated and left. And Bob uh volunteered with Measure S. And he helped get that bond passed for the school district. And he also um we was um very involved uh with the snack bar at the high school. um he we have our committee and he was one of the members that volunteered in there for many many years um until he moved
to Arizona. So I just wanted to um acknowledge um all the things that Bob did for the schools and the community and um hope that everybody will um remember him and his family um during this time. Thank you. Thanks, Donna. And next up is Melissa Espinosa. Melissa, >> a lot of the things that um I had on my list are things that our board members mentioned, so I'll be quick. Um I do hope that everybody had a great spring break. We're in the final couple of months of school, and let's hope that we can finish strong and, you know, also just enjoy all the that we can cate between now and the end of the school year. Um, in terms of attendance, I attended the musical on opening night. Just unbelievable, fantastic. Um, from the
production to the actors to the orchestra, all student run. Amazing. Thank you to everyone who supports that program. Family literacy night, I did attend that briefly. Emperor open houseelebr. Um, this is the time where we get to celebrate all the work of the students and so it's always a joy to go visit and see the families enjoying their child's work and for me to enjoy it as well as I pass through the local classrooms. I also attended Kana student of the month. Um I did go to the athletic signing and um I have to say I I actually was very teary eyed because I saw a parent was like he was so proud of his daughter of course and he was So that kind of got me. Um, but it's very exciting for the families
and their their child's future and just it was just so uplifting to be there. I also attended the Golden Apple and you know Matt Buyers, he's a very special person in this district and he continues to give back. So thank you Matt for everything you do. Um volunteer um sorry PTA March brunch that was on the same day. Um went to that March then did the legislative action week at CSBA all in the same day. It was a very busy day. But I have to say that um I I really felt um that advocating um from a legislative perspective so important. Um you know there are times where you know the state is saying they're not going to fully fund Prop 98. Prop 98 is how we get our money. if you are not familiar
with it, that is like 90 something 98% of what we um have to actually run our schools. And when they say they're not going to fund it fully, it's a problem. So, you know, please talk to your legislators and tell them that that is not okay um because it affects our school district, affects all students in our school district. So, please do that. Um we talked about that in that conversation with Mike. We also talked about, you know, fully funding the cola because that is the thing that um allows us to, you know, keep our our staff and and faculty paid at a at a fair level to the extent that we can based on our limited budget. And if you're not going to fully fund it, it does impact our ability to um rightly
honor those people. So um please talk to your legislators, send them a note. um whatever you can to continue to advocate for for us, for this district, and for our students. Um I also want to congratulate um Jason on his Edison STEM scholarship. I was not there, but I saw Edison's video and I loved the the guy asks him, the representative from Edison asked him, "How do you feel, Jason?" And he said, "This is the craziest thing that ever happened to me, sir." It was so cute. It was so good. So, congratulations to him and his family. That that's like money that makes a real difference um for for a family. So, um jazz band um you know, congratulations on their recent competition performance and um the also the students who participated in the LA
County Science and Engineering Fair competition. They did exceptional. And then to close, I know our next meeting is close around um denim day which which really um is a message that there is no reason for sexual assault and women do not have to worry about what they wear. Please don't forget to wear your denim at our next board meeting because it doesn't fall on denim day. Um so please if you could wear denim at our next meeting and on the 29th when actual denim day is. Thank you. >> Great. Thanks Melissa. And uh I'm going to be very brief. I our last meeting was I think March 11th and it's been a long time. There were a lot of things that happened. All wonderful activities. Just my I guess my top highlights was the $50,000
um to Jason Lee for his future. Uh the golden apple award for Mike Matt Buyers and who welld deserved it. And also kudos to the helotech program. Once again another 13,000. It seems like every every board meeting there's 13,000 identified or that number somewhere close to that. And uh maybe ought to write a book fun to fund raise about how you fundra. So, super. And I'm just going to leave it at that. There's a lot of great things. I went to most. I didn't go to all of them. Um, it's been a pleasure and it's been fun. Okay, with that, we're going to move to the student board member comments. Xavier. >> Okay. >> Good evening everyone. Um, my comments are very similar, so I'll try to be as fast as possible, but I hope
everyone had a wonderful spring break. I hope everyone is well rested and ready to enjoy these last couple of months, especially for us seniors. Um, I first wanted to um talk about our musical. I was just absolutely blown away by everyone's vocal talents. First off, that is something I could never even think about doing, especially in such a big crowd. So, I'm just blown away by everyone's talents. Um, I also want to um congratulate Drenline for their award. And if you are available, please attend Friday, April 10th. They are having their send off performance featuring them, color guard, and so many other performances. It starts at 700 p.m. and is $10 at the door. So, if you can, please support. And we also have our Oak Avenue or Oak Avenue Royalttlets are having their comp
at the NRG Nationals this Saturday at Isuza Pacific University. So if you're available, please come. I know there's a Oak Avenue Royale in there in the audience who would really appreciate it. So if you are, please come. Um we also have Larosa STEM night Friday, April 10th from 5:30 to 7:30. So, if you are able to attend, please do that as well. Um, I would also like to shout out my giving box buddy Eugene for just teaching me. Um, I had a wonderful time and I hope they do so well. Um, I also want to congratulate Mr. Dicki and his class. They put in so much work. Um, engineering is not my skill at all, but I just am completely blown away by their amount of dedication that they always put into their classes and
work. And that's it for me. Thank you. >> Great. Thank you, Xavier. With that, we're going to move on to item 14, superintendent comments. >> Thank you, sir. Um, first off, I I apologize to Xavier. I sent him an email saying we should match tonight and of course he wore a suit and I wore ASB. I'll be a little clearer next time, Xavier. Um I, you know, this this time of the year is is really one of my favorites. Um you know, it's it's the culminating pieces. Um, you know, we we we talk about the open houses and being able to see what students have done and and you you notice when we go to our performances just the growth in our students. Um, you know, we have some elementary uhh band and orchestra events
coming up and like we hear the the fall one and and and then when we hear the the spring concerts, it really is such a difference uh in in our students. So, I look forward to uh those events. Um, you know, and I think it all kind of kicks off with the musical, which was one of one of the best shows that I've seen uh in my time in Temple City. I I thought it was outstanding. Um I I was at the the vocal arts uh uh piece that that Donna was talking about and um Sebastian was there without his his accent and I was like, I just I just want him to sing under the sea. Like it like it would have sounded so good in in the in the church, right? But I
you know and then I see all these other kids and I'm like, "Oh, that's that's the the bird." And and and so I like I don't always know their names, but I I remember them from what they do. Um, and and you know, I think it it they should just know the impact that they have on people like when we see them and and um recognize their their work. And so I do want to say I think our students represent us really well and and like Donna was saying, you know, our events are are great because of our kids. And you know when I went to the uh the thing at the auto museum, wow, our girls were on a panel and they spoke so intelligently and so well and so many of the families
that were there really recognized what our students are doing and to have the chief designer of Tesla talk to our girls and it was so like they were wondering like how do we get talked to him and everything else and then he signed they had him autographed the model of their car and everything else. But it was it was really nice to see and they represent us extremely well. And I want to say thank you to our staff um because I I've noticed I mean obviously we have Susanna who who does a really good job of promoting our district but I feel that our staff is now promoting our district and everything that we do is really about how do we highlight the things that are happening in Temple City and like you know I
was I saw you know like Elias talking about oh I got a billboard on was it the 605 or 10 freeway you know to highlight the musical and he's like he's like this will bring in more people and and and when we talk about things you know I I was talking to uh Barry Bacon yesterday and it was like, oh, how do we attract more students? And so, you know, obviously our facilities, obviously our programs, but our staff is another reason why we attract. And so, I I just appreciate everybody's efforts in making sure, you know, Connie talked about the stabilization of enrollment and and we never know when it's going to dip or when it's going to grow, but to be stable is a is a it's a good thing in in the world
today. uh when you look around us, there's not a lot of districts who can say they're stable in their enrollment. And so I it is definitely a a group effort um to make that happen. So I appreciate everybody's work in making sure that we do that. Um I will also say, you know, Richard talked about summer schooling and and you know, this it's another thing that I look forward to this time of the year is our promotions and our graduations. I know for a lot of our students it's hard because they're going to be leaving, but I'm I'm excited to see where they're going to go. Um, and we're already talking about next year. Uh, and that's the part that I really like because we've taken everything we've seen this year and how do we
improve again next year? Um, I find it fun. I You can ask my other three colleagues if they find it as fun because most of the time it's me just saying, "Hey, we should do this." and then they the they're the ones who do it. So, um but I I I'm I'm pleased with where we are right now and I'm looking forward to uh like Melissa shared just a strong uh end to the school year. Um I I I'm proud of our students and our staff and and I think uh what we have to do next year is going to be even better. So, I'll I'll end it there. Thank you. We're on to written communications. And um actually a couple things I want to mention real quick. Um it's not really written communication, but
the the next upcoming city school district standing committee meeting is tomorrow here at 4 o'clock. And if people want to come and watch, I encourage you to do. And then also we want to um make sure we close the meeting. memory of Bob SP because he was such a great asset to this district. Okay, we are on to discuss information items number 16 energy savings project presentation. No, are we you said discussion? Did we do discussion information? No, I I don't know. It's with the uh the Williams. Oh, I got the wrong. Okay. All right. Um, so, um, one of the things we talk a lot about is because financing is so difficult for school districts, um, the you have two options. You can either find ways to increase your revenue, which is attracting more
students to come to your uh, school district. uh or you find ways to reduce your expenses. Um and one of our bigger expenses is our utility cost. Uh they continue to go up year after year. Um and we are trying to figure out ways that we can do our part to cut uh some of those expenses. Um or maybe not see as dramatic an increase as we move forward. And so with that, um, we have Shay Dibble here, uh, with Bary who's going to, uh, go over a presentation of a proposed, uh, project, uh, that, uh, we can bring to you guys later. This is just for, uh, your discussion and information tonight and then, uh, we'll bring it back our next meeting, uh, to have you take action uh, if you would like what
Shay has to share. >> Excellent. Thank you. Uh, good evening, uh, board trustees, Dr. Kuna Wu Mr. Salazar. Uh thank you for uh for having me here today. I'm uh I'm I am I'm Shay Double. I'm a senior manager and co-founder of Vari and I'm super happy to to provide a presentation on this guaranteed energy savings program. Um that runs through the installation of solar systems throughout the district. And um it it does continue to bring good news. There's a couple of things that happened earlier that I I loa going after because they're so great. Um, it's really remarkable to see all of these things. The the the thing that uh that makes me feel good about this is that if this presentation doesn't go well, I feel like I can become a chist. Uh,
that was really, you know, my my wife might disagree, but I think uh I think I I I might have a career. Uh, so that's so that's good stuff. So, this presentation is going to run through uh a little bit about us, uh, some of the road that that we've gone through uh, as partners. So, we've been working with you folks for for quite some time, which we're we're honored to do. and we'll uh show some of the solar layouts uh at each one of the sites. Uh we'll talk about some of the drivers uh for this project um economic uh as well as student uh focused and uh then sort of the economics and then next steps. So very quickly um very uh is one of the largest TK12 energy solutions uh companies in
the country. We work with hundreds of school districts as I work with hundreds of school districts here in California alone. Um we are very uh student um oriented. Uh we uh we like to ensure that our uh learning institutions facilitate better learning and that is uh that's what gets us up in the morning and gets us here uh with you uh with you tonight. So on the road we've traveled um Bar is, as I said, honored to be the district's energy partner. We facilitated over $5.2 million in grants for projects that the district did not have to pay out of pocket for. Um for this project, uh which you can see 2026, the proposed energy savings guarantee program will be seeking, uh 4.19 million in federal rebates. Um we have a little bit of time
compression. Uh I'll talk about that later which requires that we safe harbor the project the rebate from the fed uh by July 1st. Um and uh throughout this uh project we worked with uh with Mr. Salazar uh Dr. Kuna, Miss Woo uh and the um school principles to align on placement to ensure that they are perceiving that they're getting the best uh the best benefit uh for their students uh and their sites. Uh we had a couple of things that we took into account when we thought about this uh this project. We were given some instructions that one student benefit that's that's number one. Two uh funding uh being good good financial stewards. That's also number one. Um uh and also just just making sure that we aren't uh impeding any potential future projects. So
we don't want to put a solar system uh for example a solar shade structure in a place where maybe we're going to have some expansion. Uh so we we certainly took that as part of our uh guiding principle. Um so the primary approach really was to provide shade uh for students uh during the day during assemblies and what have you. A couple of the locations we'll be talking about some carports uh and then uh a repower uh at Temple City High School. So this is the typical layout that you'll see for the next few slides. Uh the solar systems that we are recommending uh in terms of their placement as guided by and approved by the principles of these schools are in blue surrounded by yellow. They won't be that bright when they're up. Uh
but they will uh for Lar Roa for example, this is a play area uh solar shade structure. It'll provide great shade uh for a playfield and for assemblies. And it is close to the estimated point of interconnect which is that uh fuchsia color that that pink dot right there. That's what that estimated point of uh of what what looks like the Roman numeral 9 is. You'll see this layout on the next few slides and I'll kind of go through uh why they were uh why they were recommended for those uh for those placements for the Doug Sears Learning Center. Um we are recommending solar canopies uh and EV chargers to provide shade for the communities using that new center and for visitors of the uh the the DO. Um, again, EV chargers will be added.
Whenever you put in uh solar shade structures for car ports, the code requires that you put in a couple of EV chargers. You're not going to be losing any parking spaces, but those EV chargers will be available uh for for district use. At that point, Cloverly Elementary, um, this layout was selected uh by staff uh and and confirmed by us to be a a great location. Um, provides again provides onfield um shade for uh for assemblies and and what have you and is close to the uh for the point of interconnect. Here is a good uh indication for Emperor. The layout was selected again uh to be over you're seeing a theme here to be over the line area providing a great amount of shade uh for them. Uh we had looked at moving it
a little bit over the black top uh but it turns out that just in case that the school wanted to have this uh to be a play area on that black top uh we wouldn't be impeding that. So the field was uh selected for this point. uh Longden. So, this is a this is an interesting case. It's it's uh actually really good news. Longden had uh currently has a solar ready roof. If you look on the left hand side, you can see some some dark horizontal lines there. That's actual racking that was built into the roof when the building was built. It's required by code these days, but that was done uh that was done back at a time. Uh so uh we are going to be utilizing uh the uh solar panels uh we're
going to be utilizing the existing racking on that roof and building some shade structures over the black top for lunch areas and you know lunch area and what have you. The good news is is that we don't have to penetrate the roof, you know, at all uh when we're putting these uh panels up. So, Oak Avenue is is a little different than the others in that we uh are putting on uh we're recommending solar canopy uh um for uh for car for the car parks. Um we had looked at moving uh placing the panels to the west. There's a great field. Um but there's a lot of soccer that happens. It's baseball. A lot of lot of games happen on that field. And so we all decided as as did the as did the site
principal that uh that parking uh canopies were were were likely the best option and that uh particular location will have four uh electric vehicle u chargers. Now Tempest Liy High School um has an existing uh system. Um now given the degradation of that system uh and the fact that replacement parts are now super difficult uh to find uh mainly because the industry is standardized on a certain type of panel certain size of panel uh certain types of electrical interconnects. Um these uh these systems don't quite match the current standard. It's kind of like when we had um VHS and then all of a sudden we were going to beta, but no, now we're at CD. What about the laser disc? Um, so it's sort of like that we finally settled uh on some standards and
the best uh viable uh economic option uh is to do a full power uh replacement. Um most prudent at this time, it's going to modernize and futureproof uh this particular system. Um not only are we going to upgrade uh the steel, we're going to improve it for seismic code, right? So if we have a little a little shimmy, uh we're not going to have any issues. uh and we'll put on new inverters and communication equipment uh will be installed. I'll talk a little bit about the uh the communication uh equipment benefits uh in a minute. So several factors have pushed uh the project to the forefront uh and really uh there's two there's there's some economic drivers and some non-economic drivers. The economic project drivers as as Dr. had mentioned uh is the the rapid
increase in electrical costs uh facing uh well everyone today but but K- through2 especially. So between 2020 and 2024 uh we've seen a 64% rate increase. Uh and you can see that this came from the California Public Utilities Commission. This is their data. We are estimating uh even though we've had a a slight dip uh down at SDG, we're still seeing increases year-over-year of roughly uh roughly 6%. So, this means that the the district faces what's called a cost of delay. It's what you do if you do nothing. And if you've done nothing, the the the the district will face an additional $481,000 in rising cost increase. Now, this is one way to put it. You know, five years is 2.7 million. You know, the year 10, it's an additional, you know, 6.3 million that
that virtually everyone is going to be facing depending on how much energy they use. This is also, if you flip this around, flip the script a little bit, this is also the savings. This is the this is the cost avoidance. By doing the project, you'll avoid spending or I should say giving the utility 481 or or 2.7 or over 20 years, you know, $17.6 million. Uh so um as some say you're you're doing the project whether you do the project or you're paying for the project whether you do the project or not. The money is still going out and the district has to uh has to keep uh keep finding ways to fund uh fund that. Okay, let's talk a little bit about good news. That was a little doom and gloom. Let's get let's
get back to good news. So the great news is all these this economic uh benefit. Of course the economic benefits that or the economic benefits that we talked about earlier was the inverse of that bad news, right? The good news is you'll save that much over time. But um you know most districts we support uh focus on the funding but given the STEM focused work uh that you're doing that you've you've talked about um with the solar car clubs, the helotech which is amazing uh and the importance these students today place on uh climate well-being and data uh analysis. I felt it's important to run through these uh through these uh benefits with you from a GHG perspective. uh doing this project will take about 215 uh passenger vehicles off the road every single year.
That's equivalent an equivalent of 115,000 gallons of gasoline uh and the pollution uh that uh that that stems from that. You can read the others. But most importantly, and I think that this is where the rubber meets the road for all of us is is with student community. Um we'll have shade for students during the hot during the hot times and it's getting seriously it's getting hotter and hotter it seems. Um students will have access to to the dashboards that you see there on the right. That's our that's a light level uh dashboard um that's available um not only to to district staff to see what's happening with the solar systems in real time um but also to the community. We'll have kiosks available, websites that they can go to. They could look at their
individual school. How are things happening? And this can directly feed into uh STEM, the science, engineering, math, and sustainability uh that we uh that we've been talking about uh throughout uh throughout this board meeting. Um, and then it really does build on the uh the Temple City High School's solar car work. Uh, it it's directly related uh to that and helps to support that as well. So, it's a great uh great showcase for the community. So, here are the project economics. The cost of the project right now, the guaranteed maximum price uh we've been working with with with Dr. Puna and Mrs. Woo uh is at $13.3 million. We have that $481,000 per year that will escalate year-over-year as the utility escalates its rates. Okay. We're going after a federal ITC uh investment tax credit,
excuse me, a federal ITC rebate uh of $4.19 million, which brings that uh net project cost to about $9.1 million. Very similar to what we did with you on Calshape. We brought grant money and then utilized that grant money to really drop that project down uh to your uh to your financial benefit. And over 20 years and uh and these are contractually guaranteed savings uh 24 uh 208 million uh dollars in uh in economic benefit. So, here are um here are the key dates. And because we're we're working quickly to secure safe harbor uh for these federal funds, we've de we've developed a a very uh detailed um schedule. I apologize for all of the lines in that schedule, Miss Woo. Um but this is a very high level piece and I and I think
the the the simplified version of this really highlights uh the core pieces of what needs to happen uh by 61. That's that that sort of reddish uh column there. Second from the right 5% of the solar system components purchased and encumbered uh will safe harbor your ability to get that $4.1 million. And the last slide I wanted to share um is on an optional phase two project after this one. One of the reasons well I I'll get into that in a second. So when we first started developing this project um we had planned to include uh these other measures as well the lighting HVAC the computerized management maintenance system that's uh that would be used by uh the the district's facility and and M staff. Um, but it became clear that the the effort needed
to sort of complete everything required to bring that project to bear would impede our ability to get you in line for the $4.1 million for the for the federal grant. So, we put these on the back burner as directed by the district. Uh, but this still remains an optional uh energy savings project. Now, we hope Calshape will come back. uh they may they may fund uh they may fund that again. There's some rumblings happening. Um and if so, we will seek out that grant and uh and go after uh HVAC again. But if not, the lighting uh alone, the lighting savings alone that it will generate over time is enough to pay for uh the HVA the remaining HVAC that needs to be replaced. Um so that's another little bit of good news. This is
waiting in the wings. Should you choose to go down that path, that's available to you. We just want to offer that as a as a future offer uh option. And with that, that's the end of my presentation. I'm happy to take any questions you might have. Questions? I have a couple questions. Um I noted that there were six slots set aside for EV charging at the high school. >> Yes. >> With the student. It's been a long time since I've looked at any data, but student ratio students may be pushing towards 2,000. You probably got 300 employees or something like that. So, how do you regulate who gets to use the EV and for how long? >> The good news is uh we don't have to make that decision to get the grant because that
is a difficult that is a difficult um equation to solve uh for the district and we'll work with the district. uh we we have uh quite some time before once we once we secure the grant to when we need to make that decision. It'll be at least, you know, we we'll have a good six months of time to then study. Okay. Well, how does the district uh want to uh offer that to students, offer that to the community, maybe it's just for staff, maybe it's maybe it's just for uh a particular few. Um lots of lots of different options that I think need to be worked out with the district at a later time. >> Along those lines, is it free? Is that what you're saying? No. So, it could be, but it won't be.
>> Yes. Yes. It'll be something probably like a charge point or something like that that we'll set up along those lines. But yeah, it it is something that people will have to have an account or something to to charge. >> Good question. Good question. >> I have some questions. So, >> um, >> yeah, I I was just going to add to that EV charger thing. I think the like at the school sites, it seems like it might be easier to control than it would be out here at the the district uh site because it's open and people in the neighborhood tend to park there. There's not much parking. So, that was a little concern, but not a big deal. Um, so the locations where you have the panels over grass, does the grass get removed
or >> the grass will remain the uh we'll pull up an example here so you can take a look. There's one great example. So the uh the the panels are lifted up in such it's such a height uh that you'll still get a lot of reflectance down on the ground if not direct sunlight. Uh I would say towards the south um and reflectance up to the north. we haven't experienced any degradation to to the turf. Uh if there is a degradation to the turf, then we can off we can offer seed, you know, seed recommendations that that work well under uh lower lower light, but it won't impede grass growth and it won't impede any of the irrigation. That's a good question. >> Um and then at Oak Avenue, does that is that going to
require the removal of those trees in the parking lot? >> Very astute. Yes. and we will replace those trees uh at a greater than one to one. So, um we won't be able to replace the very large mature trees because oftent times we find that there's a lot of mortality when trying to dig them up and move them. But we'll work with uh with the districts with the district and and uh and the principal to figure out where additional trees uh can be planted. But yeah, we're we are also very sensitive of that. And when when we decided to put the uh when the site decided, you know, this is where it needs to go, we we internally at my company had a lot of conversation about, okay, what are we going to do about
the trees? How are we going to do it? Are we going to move them? And we we talked to a couple of arborists and they said, it's just better for you to buy some big trees >> and plant them in place and let them naturalize. So, yeah, that's absolutely. >> Um and then if you could clarify for me, um so the uh there was like a 20.84 million savings over 20 years. >> Yes. >> Okay. Is that net or is that because we're going to be paying on this each year, too? So, is that above and beyond what we we pay or is that >> part of that goes to paying down the uh >> So, part of that will go down to pay to pay down the debt. So, uh in in a model
like this, the project cost after after the rebate comes in is going to be $9 million. And every year, let me back up a couple here. You'll see at year 15, we're estimating at about 11.1 million in uh energy cost savings. So that $9 million will come into play up until about year 13 uh based on the numbers that I have right now. So essentially, you pay it off in year 13 as compared to the utility. And then after that >> it's yours and it's >> I won't say profit but it's definitely >> definitely avoided cost. >> Yeah, >> that's great. It's rare that I get questions like that. That's that's excellent. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Oh um oh thank you Mr. Sure, Gina, because I actually had the same exact
question about the grass, but um really quick for the installation for these um do you know how long it would take to put these in? Because I noticed for a lot of these are over grass. Do you think this would kind of impede students from using the the grass field or the playground areas? >> Good question. No, it it shouldn't. Um it will uh there will be a period of time where uh certain areas of the field will need to be cordoned off and and not used. We're going to try to much of this as possible during breaks uh over weekends and what have you. But there will be some time where it is where it is cordoned off. Um and that's an unavoidable part of construction just like uh when we're doing HBAC replacements.
We can't have students um in the buildings underneath. Um so yeah, there is going to be a little bit of disruption but we'll work with the district on the schedule to minimize that. >> Any other comments or questions? >> You know, u Mr. Well, thank you for your kind comments about um part of our focus uh towards introducing our students to more green energy projects and renewable energy options for them down the road because I think they will benefit from it. Um yes, uh I understand, you know, the concept of investing into this for the future. I myself have done that at home. I'm basically one battery pack away from calling Edison and telling them goodbye. But uh I won't do that. I won't do that. Please, we need scholars. Okay. Uh uh but um
again, you know, I think we're in partnership in all of this. Um and I think this is a great opportunity, as you said, a learning opportunity for some of our students that are interested in these things. Um and uh I like the fact that 13 years for break even. Uh that's pretty amazing considering most of these um systems are guaranteed for 25 years if not longer. Correct. >> Correct. Yeah. Some solar systems can last up to 40 years if you take care of them, >> right? >> Um the panels uh are guaranteed for 25 years these days. >> So yeah, you're right. >> That's that that I think is a step in the right direction because you know, as we know, energy costs just keep escalating. So >> yeah, >> thank you so much for
that presentation. >> Thank you. Appreciate >> Yeah, just a couple of things I I want to re-emphasize. Um, the only check we are getting from anybody would be the $4.19 million from the federal government uh for um the rebates. All of the other savings, nobody is handing us a check. All it is is us trying to avoid cost going forward. Every year we have the same battle. We know that COLA does not cover our increasing cost. So, the whole point of this is to make sure that we try to reduce those costs going forward. Um, but I don't want to mislead anybody. It it is not money that is coming back to us. It's just money that we would have to pay that we're trying to avoid paying going forward. Uh, and then the other
piece is we also have trees that we're going to lose at Emperor and OSA those will also be replanted. In talking with the principles um they realize like well we're going to have shade so they're okay with moving a tree somewhere else. Um but you know if you look at and I'm sure you probably saw when you saw the uh placement uh the principles were very strategic and a lot of them you know you could see emperor oh she was thinking promotion all of my all of my parents are now going to be in the shade uh over at Cloverly. Oh now all of my kids are going to be in the shade when we do our uh assemblies for you know and graduation. They'll be in the shade. So, you know, there's they they
were they were strategic in where they placed uh these items. Um we looked to see if we would impact any of the facilities use uh that we have currently and right now the only question we had was um was Cloverly because we know that AYso uses uh Cloverly's field but in looking at their usage it's really just for practice and it's minimal number of teams. So they actually would still have room out on that field to uh to play or practice. Um so we were we were strategic in how we've done this. Um and we've gotten input from everybody else uh you know and again if we decide to move forward with with the project. It's one of those things where we have to start thinking about doing something because the cost for utilities is
only going to continue to go up. Uh and if we don't do anything, we'll just have to We'll have to figure out how to continue to pay for the increase in those cost. >> I was just gonna say I know based on a lot of feedback from the site, but are is the placement also like the optimal place for the most solar energy? it is um the the systems are designed and tilted towards the sun uh so that as the as the sun sort of goes overhead it can capture as much of that as possible so yes >> I have actually one more question is isn't one what art was saying isn't the goal to convert capital expense to ongoing expense to renew that way you Isn't that? >> Yes. So, uh we are taking
on a a capital expense for this, but the savings from the conversion is really what's going to help pay for this. Um >> can you check that? Sorry. Um so yes the savings from using this this capital expenditure is going to cover the cost of it and then when uh we were looking at the the numbers we actually are are positive in the uh amount of savings. Uh so we're bringing in just a little bit more savings than our actual expenditure will be going forward. Any other comments? >> How long how long would this kind of a project normally take? >> We anticipate that if we get started in the summer, we'll be finished by next summer. >> Summer to summer. We'll we'll take advantage full advantage of both summers though while schools while kids
are kids are out. >> I want to know who counted all the fixtures and light bulbs. That was impressive. >> Uh we did. We We did. Yeah, for sure. We we we we also had a lot of help from from Mr. Salazar and his staff and we were able to look at a lot of great information that they had already uh developed. He's he's been an amazing an amazing resource. An amazing resource. >> Thank you. >> Is it possible to put solar panels on this building? >> Uh so, you know, uh this building uh has um some HDAC equipment. I'll bring the picture up. I must have Where am I going? I'm going the wrong way. Uh let's see here. It has some HBAC equipment uh on the top. There we go. Thank you. Um
that uh that sort of impedes our ability to do that. Keeps us from doing that. Also, this uh my understanding was that this was a medical building at one point. Is that right? And so the structure may not be able to handle the weight of of the panels. So we felt that this was probably the we would love to put solar on the roofs especially I mean Longden was such a boon to have that really reduced a lot of cost a lot lot of steel that would need to be uh purchased and put into the ground. Um so we definitely took advantage of that to the maximum capacity that it could handle. >> Yeah. And just as a reminder, when we get DSA involved in certain projects, then the projects tend to become bigger and
more expensive than we had intended. So, not that DSA won't be involved because there are some components for DSA, but um if you start touching structure, then you have to start looking at a lot of other things that have nothing to do with the solar project that DSA will require us to touch most of the design and to that most of the designs that we are showing you here today are already pre-approved by DSA. It's more of a a review and check mark rather than let's go in and see everything. So >> no more comments that's it. Thank you very much. >> Thank you very much. Have a good evening. >> Thank you. Thank you. With that, educational services complaint January 1st through March 31st. Dr. >> So I'm happy to report we have no

Moving down into business services, item 19, adoption of resolution 2526-21, recognizing April 27th through May 1st, 2026 as school nutrition employees week and May 1st, 2026 as school food hero day. >> So this is actually the resolution we starting last year and the district we do want to this opportunity and thank our total 32 full service department employee from our director hard worker

the district in according coordinated with the structuring and risk execute a bond issuance through the negotiated sales and uh we will bring that service agreement with the P center and prepare for our potential next bond and their in the future B sales >> any comments or questions for ahead I'll second. >> Yes. >> Say I >> I approval of notice of completion for the purchase and installation of sports lighting by sports lighting. Good evening, Board President Smith, members of the board, Dr. Kuna, and Exec. Um, tonight we ask for approval of uh to file a notice of completion for our Musco Sports Lighting project. Um, you might see me pretty often with uh as we as we uh get close to finalizing everything. Um, but the NOOCC is is quite important. Um, it is a
legal document that um Sorry. It's a legal document that uh gives a a uh closure to a project. Um and that lessens our time for uh subcontractors to place leans on the district. Um so with the approval tonight, we will file a notice of completion for Muscoll. Um we've conducted all of our testing and um making sure that it is to spec um as designed. Um and we are complete and satisfied. >> Great comments or questions. >> Thank you very much. We will go ahead and take vote on this. Well, that takes us all the way to the
