[Applause] hi i'm marlo and i'm wiley and you're watching tv news it's may guys aka national barbecue month national hamburger month national salsa month and national strawberry month that's a lot of national foods for one country i think we could make a pretty epic international picnic with all that grub a celebratory picnic for national military appreciation month maybe a great idea but we got news to film before we can snack that's true well we better get started and what's better than to start off with tinkercon we actually got some pretty great footage and a couple interviews from this year's epic stem event hi i'm marlo brown from cad tv news and here we're at tinkercon i think this is one of my favorite events of the year to see the creativity the ingenuity of our
students and also to see how a lot of them are taking things that they're learning specifically from their ctes and applying it to what they're doing here it's just a fun event and it's great to see everybody in here using their skills to create wonderful things [Music] and here we're at the drone popping section of tinkercon i'm here with david someone who worked on it david what is the drone popping section like what is this the idea behind it is essentially kind of like almost like a relay race um the drones got to pop the balloons faster than everyone else better pop them better not stop them don't stab your friends they are sharp and dangerous so what's pop and gamer hopefully not my skull but balloons mostly we attached shanks to the sides of
drones and saw what happened and it honestly surprisingly worked out as like a functioning game i didn't expect it to work i just like the idea of putting sharp objects onto the end of a flying drone now there's a lot of things i want to ask but the first thing is why why is there confetti in the balloons is it like a prize i'm gonna be completely honest with you that was mostly improvised because we ran out of white balloons they were supposed to be white balloons and gold balloons we ran out of the white ones all that was left were the ones fill of confetti so how did this come to be why are you doing this the original idea was to put balloons on the tops of the drones so that they would
kill each other and like attack each other's balloons but it broke the drones and they wouldn't work so we went for a different idea in which you kind of have a little bit of a a drone relay if you will a bit of a [Music] you know what i'm saying nope i'm so i can give you an answer on the bucket brigade um it is a relay race for the drones for the two players with the drones to work together and get the balls into the ball goal and the purple vex rings into the ring goal and then after the goals are filled with the correct objects they get pushed up the ramp thank you so much of course well i mean david left and the woman in stem is now sitting as a woman
in stem she needs to rest [Music] i'm a woman in stem hi i'm a woman in stamp this is stem and i am a woman i'm mr patterson and i support women in stem we love women in stem [Music] back to you guys at the studio great interviews and such a fun event can't wait for next year although we support women in stem all year round by the way a new club is emerging it's a place of improvement and growth the literature club it meets tuesday in room 155 all are welcome just in case anyone's forgotten yearbooks are still for sale all of your school memories and all of our beautiful faces are plastered in a book that you can buy for just 85 be quick though orders are due may 10th via miss sikes
