we were able to also celebrate our child care program which one of the best in the north state this past year. So that was photos taken but it was a great event that was celebrating a lot of the great achievements in county two awards. Congratulations to all those people both the central valley and the awards. >> All right. >> Anyway, we did come to an agreement for our negotiation and so I think that's on the agenda. generally. >> Hello. So, hope you did come to that's on the agenda tonight. Um, you know, and I said a thousand times and I'll say it probably a thousand more times. It's always great working with you guys when it comes to negotiations or anything else and I highly appreciate it. I know it's classified week this week and

you know I really appreciate all of our our staff you guys. So that's it. >> First order going to get you up first. >> Um a lot of uh field trips going on right now kind of At the end of the year graduation, we have three graduates today actually was a first for me. One day the same to put my head together. I don't remember exactly how many grad show graduation. Um good evening. We have Books and Beyond um at Ches Lake School tomorrow night. Books and Beyond. It's K2. It's at 5:30. Our promotions are June 3rd. Kindergarten's at 9. And then that evening, eighth graders at 5:30. Um, just a special thank you to I was thinking about this as I was driving over. I I I know that Lamar, Beth, Erin, Carrie, it

there's just and many others are really needing a special thank you right now as we gear up for the moves. Um, they're thinking of everything and they know that they they haven't thought of everything everything, but they are really doing a great job. I feel very supportive in this this move that's coming. So >> they will think of everything. >> No pressure. They need a little >> All right. >> So we've been doing lots of things getting ready for the reconiguration. We've had staff members from Shhatsley and over to Grandos. We did a lot of fun things with them um on a a Monday PLC a week ago. Um was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to um students coming over next Friday. We're planning to open it. Should be a lot of

fun. >> What you saying? say you're right back. >> It's short today. No heels. Um I just wanted to say tomorrow night we have a great evening. Uh we're going to give him $323,000 in scholarships. So it's a huge improvement. Last year we had 168,000. So almost double um in scholarship number. But and with that, you know, this is the time of the year I enjoy the most and it's the hardest. But uh like we're going to the acts of breakfast tomorrow to celebrate our high achieving seniors and you know just a lot of those events but they come at you all week long. So we're excited but um you know graduation's June 4th and we have to see as possible and nice once again on excited it's at 8:30 >> once the sun goes

down. So, Buckeye, we've had a lot of field trips going on. We have a band concert tomorrow night in the gym at 5:30. Um, where are eighth graders headed to Sunsplash for their eighth grade trip on next Friday. And, um, graduation is June 2nd at 5:30 and TK and K are June 4th, 10, and 12 respectively. And then um for River Ridge, we've had a busy week. On Monday, we had a second TKK u kickoff. We had another 14 families show up. It was a great event and thanks to all the help for the district office staff and everybody that helped us make that um possible. And then this morning we had our Riveridge Connect field day. And thank you to Alain, the leadership, the link crew, the and letting us use our field. Those

kids had a blast. They came back. They were so excited and we were teaching them um to shout out I say all you say otter and they were coming back and they were waiting in line for lunch and so they really had an awesome time and so we're excited about River Ridge next year and the kids came back excited, teachers came back excited so we just wanted to share that out. Yeah, I will not make your graduation eth grade. So that's important. >> All right. The consent is are there any individual things that we need to pull discuss something all in favor? I Thank you very much. Okay. Board policy revisions. This is a second reading discussion and action school board association February policy. Is there anything mind But by the second reading we had

enough time to make our questions known to be out specific comments second. Okay. Item B approval for policy 351. Mel, do you want to speak on that? >> Put in an adjustment to that board policy because of the reconiguration. Previously, we had locks for our kind through the It's a quart of a mile from school and since fifth grade now will be at the middle school they will fit more with the middle school walks which is a one mile radius u but understanding that any students which has always been the case that live across the boulevard that we don't count that as any mile so but if they're within the so for example those fifth graders on the shage change from school to add new business project Just a quick update. I know come by

presentation a couple months. So just really excited we received work today. We were by DSA ground work there staying on schedule. We're still working with our contractors and architects try to maximize and make sure that we're looking at that very carefully. Who's been created that all, you know, it's really it's a it's a lot of hours, a lot of work, but we're excited about that process of starting up and Shass Lake. We're kind of in a similar situation. We're going to DSA this week. Looking forward to starting that process and again doing the same now. It's getting very real. You know, we have our contractors right there with our architects working together, seeing the plans kind of really tighten up. And now again, the same situation there. Couldn't be more excited about that. We talked

about it a little bit. I'll mention later in my comments, but here next year with construction as it is any build, but seeing it happening, I think while the year is going on, very excited. So excited about that. Eight story or that eight classroom two story two classroom vaulted no class administrative offices and also for assistants nurses and conference rooms and so we're excited to get that up and running. So um we also just time we might need to call special But you know that might be contract and try to make possible. So we work on that. >> Yeah. potentially in June now to learning center that's down the road we are looking at working in there which is kind of multi-purpose room kitchen area and then also looking at just the overall appearance of

the school looking at everything inside of continuing our plans with that. Um, so that's and then anticipating our CT modernization grant going through which would allow us to do some work on building Central Valley. Those have been in Central Valley that building they've done an awesome job with it and looks great, but it's still incredibly and we are excited about making that a real top facility for our students. So that's one match, but it will help us relax our bond funds in terms of not having to use those for the project at least many. So, um yeah, that's just a quick rundown of the bigger projects going on right now. >> I'm going to assume that story. Yeah. You know, I come to think of it, it would be pretty cool, but >> I think

it's beyond. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Might be might be against But there. >> There you go. All right. Item number two, >> Michelle, I think this is the one you were referring to. It's an action to approve the 26.7 agreement between Gateway Unified School District and GPA. The approval of this agreement shall conclude the negotiation between school district for the 26.7 school division for the final agreement. There is a copy of the 1200 sals at this point. All those in favor. Stepping on to item three. This is discussion and action to approve 26.7 gateway and CSDA 696 approval shall CSA chapter 696 for the 267 school year. In addition to CSA agreement, there's a copy of Any discussion? item number four. This discussion action to approve the 2627 collective bargaining agreement between flexible district. Approval

of this agreement shall conclude the negotiation by school unit for the year 2627 in addition to the proposed agreement revis All right. Whether we like it or not mark four year mark the approval of the resolution 2526 order timeline motion. All right. Item six is the approval 26 26 the cost of state question. Item seven, approval of resolution. Establish a procedure in case I vote for understand, right? not here, but I want to see what's >> All right. >> Do I have a motion? >> Second. All those in favor? Item B, instructional services. And I've got a big Terry here. Number one is the adoption of class mathematics. This is going to be seven. >> Yeah, sevenyear um adoption. It's been a long time coming. Our last adoption was in 2014, and as a district,

we started this process almost two years ago. Um, so there's been a lot of um input and um design behind that. And we had a pilot committee of 16 teachers this year for K8 um and they represented the three different sites and the three different grade bands. So we had K2 represented uh 34 represented 58 represented and we piloted two different curriculums and then we had section of seven years that that's for a different time frame. Um our last, like I said, our last adoption was um >> it was 2014. So that was a >> right seven years even. So we're trying to find the sweet spot in between enough time to have consistency in a program to have everyone well trained to get it implemented to see the difference that um students move up

because it is a different program. So there's going to be you know those students start in kindergarten and move all the way up. We'll see those outcomes earlier, right, that our other students think about. So, sweet spot with that um implementation as well as um cost effectiveness because with the longer range adoption, you do get better price breaks too. So, kind of is finding that sweet. So, is there a big difference between um I looked at a threeyear versus sevenyear. I didn't ask for a specific five-year quote, but um the company does back their product too. So um if you decide that is not a good fit for you um they obviously won't reimburse you for materials you've already used, but if you say the beginning of the year, oh cancel, we can cancel it.

But it's a little more complicated than that because it is going to be our adopted curriculum. So we wouldn't want to cancel an adopted curriculum until we know what other curriculum, >> right? But we could we see that it's not >> we can start we would well our pilot process took well from start to finish from getting all it's probably going to be one to two years to make that switch. But I mean it is possibility >> when you start looking a lot too a lot of it is similar in terms of content but what offers and so as with anything so it can get overwhelm but I know that there was a ton of work That's something for each fashion. >> We don't have to put on the spot, but I do have one

of our pilot committee members here if you have any additional questions about program. Yeah, there were a lot of aspects of it that the team really loved and u like I said we started this process years ago and one of the steps in the process is putting together a district map visioning committee and it also represented the different sites of our admin involved in that collaborative effort to codify what we wanted as a district. What is it that we need to serve our students and our community? Um, and we built our rubric based on that in addition to all of the math framework standards. And so when we were u previewing different companies, it was it was through that lens. This is what our teachers know they want. This is what we need. We need

supports for new teachers. We need family um family resources that are accessible. Um there were certain instructional practices that they knew they wanted built into it. Didn't in themselves. And so when we went looking, we were very clear on what what we wanted that would fit our district. I said there were 16 teachers 16 pilot teachers and 80% recommended it for adoption and then there was a 10 there was just a couple of them. They're like, I like it, but I have a couple follow-up questions. We got answers to those follow-up questions. So it was a really strong. >> Yeah. >> Second. >> All those in favor. >> Item C is human resources, but Mr. more than do this and my understanding is it's an action declaration that gives you fully qualified education. This is

something >> Yes. Yes. And it's something that certifically while we try not school right now. So do you >> have the estimation that's added like >> we don't know for sure >> we're not there but >> to give us we're not >> no we're Item number business services discussion action to approve resolution 26.8 acknowledging facility master So we in June um we are going to submit our application to PSC that we've received but in order to do that we have to master district we are currently working on this opportunity in order to get started Item number two discussion action contract development greenhouse. >> So we bought greenhouse at Mountain High School earlier this year. Um, but being able to find a contractor will want to install together difficult to do. So, we went out to

bid a second time recently. We got four responses. Um, K2 development was the least of all the least qualified. They were 54,000 >> sorryensive >> least expensive. >> That's your motto. >> Maybe not this time. They um the other quotes that we got back were 205,000 to install. So we K2 is very um eager to get involved in schools. They don't have a lot of projects. So they're very experienced. >> Uh 54,58 >> 64. >> Do I have a motion? Um second >> you guys are really testing. Item number three a discussion action to approve resolution 2526-29 accepting bids and So, we went out to bed for the whole the project as a whole, which includes the parking lot, a new fire name that has to be installed, fencing being changed, and then the four

portables the only way TSA would approve those portables. It's literally we have to strip them down to the studs, put up fire resistant and roofing on. So the project cost at first our maintenance team is going to be able to do that but not able to. So the two two contractors that bid on the quarter the construction construction came in the lowest at 2.5 million 2.5 >> portables plus any Second >> all those in favor >> district reports Mr. Charlene mentioned it earlier, classified employers employee group and just want to send a special thank you to all the classified staff. They're fantastic and we serve so many different departments and areas and we always talk about teachers who talk about they do such a tremendous job but it really does all all of us are

educators in some form or fashion and it's not always in the classroom. They are just not all that a couple weeks ago. There's so many awards of the weeks right now, but I did want to just say a special statement by fantastic and Charlene is great representative for them. So, I just want to say thank you. Uh that Rob deserved to be able to report out on the kids connect today. That was really exciting. It was super needed to go there. But a special thank you to our ELO program and to central ASB and Alex for helping organize it along with all of our directors, all the work that was put in. It was special. They see kind of wow, this is the new school and all the kids having a blast. I don't I'm

hesitant to tell them that they don't get that field and all of the cool water balloons on the birthday still. That's what they're expecting. But u in all seriousness, it was really wellrun and there was not one that was there that was just kind of sitting on their own doing their own thing or they were all engaged having a blast. I'm looking forward to posting pictures. The problem is I have about 700 I think from everybody that was taking them and it was it was really so I wanted to just thank everybody for that. Uh this is our last board meeting students you know in session. Uh by the time we get next time the school will be out. So I just wanted to thank everybody all of our staff every minute uh that makes

Gway what it is. Definitely exciting times and I cannot believe this year's over. Thank you to everyone and to our board for your service and such a great support sense of support for our kids. And other than that, I was just saying we got to bundle up for next year. A lot of movement, a lot of shaking and again it's it's a good pack of excitement but does not come without a lot of work and there will be hiccups. There will be things happening. Not everything will go perfectly and uh luckily we deal with that a lot. So we'll have on the move and thank you to everybody who's put in the work to to prepare for this and also support it. We're excited about my appreciation to all the staff also this year. So

additionally appreciate the uh involvement just bringing students together that's a really great project you put June be a busy month. >> Uh yeah, I just would say the uh for those who made it out the Memorial Day parade, I think. >> Say that's probably the best turnout I've ever seen from Gateway that I can remember. I don't know if we had what three or four different >> four people. >> Yeah. Normally there's only one, but it was good to see that that's the last band out there. >> Yeah. And uh I was tell Kyle I was out there just being on the route because I was riding with Rachel. I could hear people literally talking about like on the streets, you know, you know, talking about club and stuff like that. So I said it

was all positive stuff. So, always good to hear. Yeah. Thank you everyone for having a great year here. Appreciate all of you. Looking forward to keep doing it. Have a good week. Appreciate very a lot of work in our last game. They are undefeated and echo everybody else. Thanks to the staff. I don't have a clue how much work has gone into this reconfiguration in but I know it's been a lot and staff have really put a lot of time in. It's taken away from other things that could be done but we're still getting it done. So I'd like to thank everybody pat on the back. summer. >> Not yet. I think we all a lot of questions how I basically next to nothing. I appreciate that. I have one question. You know, there's aliteration

that goes on and I mean when you choose a mascotation, you get I mean I thought butterflies all waiting for somebody to go to something really serene, you know, even though it's a competitive arena, but you know, Do you know how >> they have bills courtesy of those little >> 48 bites over the ocean? >> They actually kill several in the basin over there. Not exactly helping >> you just level and say yes. >> I have a lot of adorable baby otter videos >> because I talk about it so much. my that's all I see is completely heaven and I want >> 542. Thank you again.
