Good evening. Call meeting at 4 p.m. Stacey here. Lindsay. Yes. Bobby. >> Yes, sir. Secretary of the board. Julie will pledge. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Item number four is the approval of the open session agenda. Do I have a motion? >> Second. Casey a first and Bobby a second. Thank all right. Uh [clears throat] Okay. Item number five is public comment for items that are not listed on the agenda. Under this item, the public is invited to address the board regarding items. The speakers are each by law. is not allowed to take action not agenda. Seeing none six this is items of interest communication the board first item

is the state controllers office approval for audit extension for the 24 25 years that So our audit certificated guidelines for them to fund so they ask and we're done. to the board. >> What kind of >> It's just a Chinese. >> Item B is notification of business name changes for Stat Inc. to modest architectural grand school project. Yeah, Beth can speak to this as well, but we were working with staff and they had one person lead their group, their company who actually we're working with. So they had a name now same group, same project, same people that we're working with. No issues at all, but it was just something for our purposes. So essentially the same people Thank you. Item number seven are some presentations and the first real quick Kevin, while you're there, can

you come up here? All right. So, this guy because he knows I always work here. Does an awesome job for us. Kevin's always here bright and early. Comes on the weekends when he is. He takes care of everything that needs to be taken care of around here. He's also another guy here. But we appreciate the work. I know a lot of you know appreciative. It's always chipper. It's hot. It's always Yeah, it's looking good. Things are moving along. Really appreciative of the work they've done to us here. Just wanted to say thank you. I don't know. You can always hang this in my office wherever you want. Congratulations. >> Thank you. >> All right. Item number seven is uh we're going to have a bond update, but it says bond oversight committee and this wanted

to say something real quickly. Appreciate we part of our community. We're grateful to have some amazing people there and very well invested in the community for a long time. Grateful she's here with us. So, thank you. >> Thanks. So, um >> that's I I'm the on the committee. I was the one that volunteered to come in front of you every couple times that you need us to talk to you about the health is. You all know that part of a having a bond means that you have to have an oversight committee and it has to consist of certain types of people. I get to be the community member at large. I think I don't know something like that. Uh I've lived out here probably longer than most of you been alive. Um so uh we

met a week ago. It was like our third meeting and we continue to ask questions. That's what I appreciate about the people that did get on this bond committee is they're asking a lot of questions. There a lot of people that have a vested interest here. So we have a little bit of a PowerPoint to show you and I'll do my best to explain things um you know from the outside in but on the bond so far and I have to say that for myself I look at everything in a lot of different manners know my background is as a government economics teacher and I'm really pleased when I look at some of the numbers of what we're doing but the projects we completed so far I think are important because we need to see

something right away people who are voters and give up their money. They really like to see something right away. And you know, painting the school of arts is was needed. It needed a paint job. Getting camera updates in today's world, we all know that we need to do this. Um doing HVAC. Hallelujah. We all are happy about that. I talk to people about Hback around our older schools all the time. The Toyan campus needed a better signage up front to really what it was. There's still people who think it's an elementary school. So, the signage looks nice. You walk, you see it. I I love all our new signage. Okay. The best one is the turf. I talk to people all the time that mention, "Wow, I didn't know your school did that." Like, they

came for a game, whether that was a recreation kind of thing, younger kids, or it was high school, and they were so impressed at how nice it looks. That's $2 million well spent. It's was needed. We have a beautiful stadium, but changing the turf. Wow. And I also understand a lot of the kids feel much more proud about being there and seeing it and playing on it. So, and then this last one, you know, epoxy bathrooms, we all were like, epoxy to me is glue. We're going to glue people into the bathroom. But instead, you know, I I got to understand that that's how you make the floors not be sticky and nasty. And so, yeah, please do those things. That's important. So, you can see these projects we did so far. I think what's

nice is they're all very visual and they help taxpayers feel like I paid I'm paying for some of this and they're seeing some right away because they're not going to see anything for a while now. So, the next thing we there's two schools that we're going to attack hard in the next year. And I know some people are concerned about the idea of why why don't you do one and finish it and then do the other one. But no, that's like economic. Uh-uh. That is not the way to do it. Prices will continue to rise. We can take the best advantage by buying some things now that will take a little time to get there, but we will have two very nice projects done in 27, I hope. Um, so the first one is over

at Grand Oak School where we are turning it into a TK4 and the additional five classrooms, a new kitchen, and a new multi-purpose room. Plus making the office be in the front where I don't have to go through four gates to find it. Super important. I have to say that every time I go to get I remember the old version, the next version, the next version. I'm like looking really forward to this version. The budget is 20 million. We've encumbered like 1.2 as of now and that a lot of that remember is drawings and all the paperwork you have to get going. The timeline is August 27th. I'm looking forward to that timeline. Go to the next screen. This is kind of what the campus will look like when we get done. Um, number one,

every parent will be thrilled to drive up to a place like that and be able to um Oh, and the whole idea of like movement because anybody goes to Grand I forgot, how am I going to get past all this? But I really like is we're taking advantage of that wonderful field we have up on the top and and that's where the playground is going to move up to. I was really excited when I saw that whole thing. I also really excited about the slide and I didn't want to be the first person to go down on it. >> Oh no. >> Like I think we should have a contest. >> We should have a contest. We had a contest to turn on the lights. >> All right. >> And my kids won >> and

so you know I want to keep that tradition. But what's really cool in this and the best part is I'm trying to make sure I find it. H the TKK classrooms will be a whole new unit. And uh I love that idea because those kids really need places that are just really comfortable for them. The fencing, the playground right next to the classroom. That's going to be really special. And if you want to go the next one, we got some like renderings that I I love the fence line. Thank you. Um but it's I like that. And I like that rendering that we see there. And like I Yeah. And so that's taking a look from out where the kids would be looking back at the campus if I'm correct. I'm trying to remember. I

went down. >> Then is there one walk? Yeah. So this is that idea of the playground being up back behind. So you can see like that little walkway that would take them up there. The shade structure. Um, and by the way, Kowanas is committed to coming back and painting the playgrounds like we have in the past. We're just going to wait till you finish the project. This is the new multi-purpose room. And again, please remember, we just they just put furniture in them. That furniture is too big for little kids. We know it'll look different, but you had to have something you can see. I like the soundboards on the top. I think that's a really nice feature. I hope it does look like that. Time to make it look like TK kids and third.

So, I like all the looks and the office area. This is much more inviting office area than we have now. Okay. So, second project, take Shassa Lake Middle School. Remember, we're gonna just be five, six, seven, eight. Oldtime and gateway. It's how it should have stayed. Um, I'm a big K8 fan, so love to see this back. Budget 17 million. Um, we've spent to date just 124,000. I know that's like really low, but that's because we've been working on the the other one first. This will be starting to get more money put into it. Again, the same timeline. Notice August 2027. Um, yeah, we got a lot of work going on. I'm kind of excited about it and I'm not even like I want to volunteer to help be the teacher mover. Oh, you got

to change your classroom. Oh, I love bulletin boards. Let me in. So, um this is the new look at the front. And and this isn't going to make sense to you see the other picture, but what you're seeing here is we're trying to consolidate in the entire um admin into that front. And it's not a portable. It looks tacky. I'm sorry. But next, what's really cool is the architect has blended this really well with the gym. And you know, you guys are one of the best junior high gyms that exists. Um, and just this idea of see how it looks. It it blends right with what's next to it. It's a two-story building. It will have a conference room. It'll have a few classes. I think it's four, right? >> Actually, eight. >> Is eight.

>> And so it's across the back. I can never read the little tiny print. So, uh, but you can see this is the back side of it. So, the school, if you're on the school grounds, you're looking at it from this angle, the back side of it, you can see how nice it is. And the windows up above up above on that conference room look out so that you have a good view as an administrator, as a person on campus, you have a view, and that's important. I I like um I just love the look. I think it's going to be real appealing to parents driving up and let's face it, a big part of what we're trying to do is keep our parents here. Like we love you TK4 and now look this beautiful

place 567 a get to go to and then look oh we have this great football field and athletic department and a school that has all these things going on with technical ed. The idea is to keep them here. So, um, and then there are some smaller pictures to give you a view from like up above what it would look like. Um, yeah, we're still going to have, you know, portable buildings and older buildings, but this front view has such an effect on parents. history. >> I mean, that should be from the viewpoint of someone who's been here a long time, my children here. Those things I see are the continued growth that I don't see. And uh and I want to say that to the public as often as I can. I'm always telling people,

don't no, I know we're this can be rough here. Sorry teachers, admin, all of you. This is going to be a tough year moving people around, getting them used to being on campus, but a year from now, I think we're all going to feel lots different. >> Thank you for your participation. Thank you. >> Were we thinking about solar question? You know, every time you want to speak to that solar, I don't want to Hey, >> um we met with DSA today. We kind of did a pre-conference meeting on chass building and there's some it may be required, but we're not sure um our architects going to dig into it, but we're not sure where it's going to be on the building or if we're going to have to find a place for it somewhere.

If it's not required, we don't want to go that route because for us, it's not cost effective to get it because of the rates we get after it. So, the roof looks like it' be perfect in the south, >> right? It's just messed in. I got aditted. That's beautiful. Let's see how it turns out. >> All right. First of all, employee associations Michelle. >> I have nothing to report but happy new year. >> We are there. >> We are Charlie. Congratulations. Thank you. All right. Uh Rob, >> good evening. As we're coming back, one of the things is our parent club and our parents been working so hard this year. We already had two great festivals and our winter festival we had fed over 230 people and they're going they're putting the effort back in

to get a family dance on the 4th, the junior high dance on the 5th and our literacy festival, literacy night on February 12th. And I just really appreciate how much our parents are really stepping up and helping and making these events possible because it's with their help we're able to do all these things. So I'm excited to how many people show up in February. So we're trying to make the largest. >> So the dance on the fourth that's for the >> family dance so people bring their parents kids can bring their parents and last year was blast too. It's customary that the principal gets the party started by Dan first so get out there. >> Did you say there was one >> and then a junior high dance on the fifth and then the lit

on the 12. So that's a lot they're taking on helping with trying to get it all into before softball, baseball, and all those seasons start. Once little league, >> it's hard to get families. We're trying to make a real big push. Alex, I know you're inviting me. >> Um, I wanted to share out uh the athletic director from Lassen um sent a beautiful uh text email to our athletic director and I want to read it because for someone to take their time after a game um to to say this about our team, I think it's important noteworthy. Sorry. I'm very impressed with the coach of your girls soccer team. It is clear that these girls are well coached. They play hard, run a solid defense, transition very quickly, and know how to move the ball.

They um move the ball effectively on offense. They play a clean game, communicate well, and seem to be allin. I've been involved in girls soccer since 2009, and this is far and away the best girls soccer team I have ever seen out of CV. They play with fire, pride, and represent your school. Well, kudos to your girls and your coach. So that's about Katie Kaisen and I think that's nice because you don't often ha they don't have to do that like and when I see something extraordinary with you know a team I will email their staff and say you know this is what I saw and I really appreciate this. So I want to give a shout out to Katie Kaisen and the pros because they are doing a phenomenal job. They it was a

tie but that's a big deal uh 22 against Lassen. So uh they've uh only lost to you prep so far I believe in Hu Rica but they have had a phenomenal season so far. the best I had since you moved on for sure. And lastly, we have C Vive next Friday with all the incoming eighth graders coming over um to check out the school and we have the curriculum fair the night before for parents for eighth grade parents and or parents. So, um come out and see that. It's just a walk around between 6:00 and 7 on Thursday. But the CI will be fun. Do a little mini rally for the eighth graders. Alex, how they like playing on the turf field versus the >> Oh, it's huge because now like and the biggest deal

is why they're better is because they can practice longer to be honest because they can have the lights on and they're under the lights till when I sometimes do it in a block that second team is playing, you know, doing their practice the late practice. So they can shift with the boys and girls instead of just being all on the same field down at Margaret Wolf or on the back of the field which is you know lumpy and everything else. Um so now they can actually have quality do the spacing and it's huge and having home home team and field advantage. >> Yeah. our kids play soccer. >> I was at Mr. Heater and Robert never got to get in to the truck because one end of market field deep in water. I think they

actually like to chase it in. Last year she would I think every four when they practices she'd take garbage bags out there for the parents because she knew they had to get in garbage bags before they'd get the car. So >> you probably played out there, didn't you? >> Yeah. Yeah. I didn't like soccer. I did one season. But um that was just my >> So I want to talk about the code giveaway that we have today. So, Subaru donated 140 coats to our school. Um, families were allowed to sign up and um it was all organized by Jessica Satderfield, our community connector. She did a great job, you know, organizing the kids. They came in. Um, I was helping uh the kids. We just take them one by one to pick out a jacket.

So, there were a lot of jackets put out. I think we gave away about a 100 jackets today. So, for kids in need. So it's really great event. >> Would you like to course I imagine you've seen all >> um yeah our school is is definitely there's a buzz with the reconfiguration. a lot of uh always we're talking about it. People are there's a lot of excitement here. Um boys basketball is in full force. We have a tonight I'll be going back over there and then we have two home games in a row uh February 3rd. Want a chance to get out there? That might be the best time because there's two two nights in a row the 34. There's also Pizza Factory. I'm always plugging this great fundraiser. It's really great. Um, February 10th,

if you're looking to not make donut, uh, February 10th would be a great night to pick up pizza at Pizza Factory. Just mentioned that it's for Shasta Lake school and we get a percentage. It's awesome. And then also our our eighth grade staff is the ZCI. They're they're really exciting and they know to be excited because it is kind of legendary to be able to get to this point in the school year and Take that peak. >> Having a good new year. Let's get back to it. Back on the break. Teachers are doing a good job getting up for the end of Serious. Uh, we have the game of life coming up. It's going to be on 127. Our culinary class uh took started this uh January. Stanford started working with a set of kids

doing two periods a day. One is more of a baking class. The other one's more herself, which is great. She's kind of teaching hustle and things like that. Poss one of our students, Ptony. He actually graduated one of my graduates at he also he was nominated for every student succeeding uh we've had 12 graduates so far we have one that's staying around he's going to finish his EC program to Thanks for the report is doing well. that heavy rain we had December we flooded walls everything else got taken out and then just got school started up had a fire at the restaurant so things went als consent agend. Is there anything that we want to pick out and any discussion on it? Thank you. That moves us into number 10 which is new business business

services. Uh item number one is an action to approve change order to bond project $3,100 for all of CBHS. So because this is a long project anytime there's a change over so we just got to change the project. Just approve on that. Item number two, action to approve the contract amendment for studio architects after school bond project. So our original contract the studio W was just for the design portion of the contract. So then Now that we've kind of gotten our design estimated cost of the project then they got back their contract construction. So it's initial contract. So this is question. So how is this separate from just so >> so we expected to be two different >> typically that's what yeah typically that's what we do because we asked for percentage so we Sometimes

we can do a percent of what >> item number three. Did you get Item number three is discussion and or action to approve the modus contract for river campus site improvement portable building. So in order for us to do um portable relocation site improvements, we have to have DSA approval. DSA protect staff to help us make sure that we do everything that they take to DSA for us. So um this is this 252,000 project. uh in schools. Okay. Forel technology. Item number one is discussion and or action to approve the 5year contract for ISP firewall services with sh county office education through an rate category 120. actual cost 22,500. Yeah, that's the annual cost. Um, and because it's rate funding based on our reduced funding, we actually end up getting first. We only actually build

for 10% of 2200 year pretty good. It won't be locked in prices. is the first partner. >> It's just a regard last Item number two is discussion andor action to approve a threeyear contract for business service for the maintenance yard with through rate category similar to the first item service that they have. Well, that's just I have the big one for all the districts up next. It's quite a bit higher but >> so district may start our sites. trench over there at Mount Item number three, discuss action purchased 24 Fox Light touch 86 in interactive display from advanced customer bypass. state contract. Um, so we have box light interactive TVs in majority of our K fives and some self-contained six grade classes, but not the middle school yet. And this uh Carrie and I went

through and ran the numbers to see what we'll need for next year to have it all KA districtwide. So this is this 24 will make that where we have standardization improve student engagement in every classroom. Teachers will know classroom to class second. All right, Mr. Turner, you're up. But want to just really send a big thank you this whole move, the reconfiguration, a lot of things happening. So appreciative of all the help. Want to in particularly thank the director. It really takes a village. There's so much happening whether it's, you know, through our correspondence with parents, whether it's through, you know, correspondence with our teachers and working through MU and all things that we're grateful to have great relationships with our people and unions to continue to work. Definitely Beth and Aaron maintenance and custodial

have been amazing in terms of staying on top. We made a commitment that we stay on top of this and take on this challenge and it's been a great experience and this has been the fastest year I think I've ever experienced because it's moving so much to do but really excited about 2026. It's going to be a big year for people. So, I'm thankful for all the help and I apologize to anybody I didn't mention in but uh want to thank too uh our community partners mentioned here Kanas Rotary Lions Club Pizza has mentioned they take great care of us and so we're still thankful for the outstanding people in our community and I just want to express that gratitude and Kevin lastly for you congats once I don't know if you're aware of this,

but Kevin stuck a freezer a week ago and could have made it. We We almost didn't give up tonight was in there too. We were freezer quite excited. We just preferably hooked people out outside. But other than that, it's almost everybody. So 202 board members inut. >> I recently heard about the reading house program that randos and that I participated in to catch up some of our readers that are pretty exciting and um reading is just so that they're working everyone And also pretty much uh transportation. This month I went out and spent some time learned all about our different buses or diesel and and the electric that they're working on getting going on and it's really fascinating. There's a lot a lot going on and um interesting challenges but uh enjoying learning more about

welcome everyone back of course. Hope everyone had a great holiday with family. Uh happy new year and nothing really else to report. So if you're want to come by the game of life, I have a you come visit me at the supplemental income booth. >> Yeah, I'll come help you out. >> I was say excited for the middle schoolation. more so my daughter is seventh grader at she's been there since I'm also excited that Robin dance on the floor with the family dance because she mentioned the junior dance Thank you. >> Likewise, welcome back for everybody. And I'd like to say happy birthday to two people who share a birthday. still got >> you caught up with me. >> Well, it will couple days. >> Other than that, welcome back everybody. >> All right. Uh

I had the privilege of attending a couple of basketball games, one high school, and uh saw our team just really get blown out. But they never quit. And I'm happy to share that night against Anderson. They looked almost like guard most of the night. The kids were rebounding well. I don't know what the final score was. >> which is Mark and I don't know what what your observations are you know what's out and the I guess one of the things I see is that uh they're young mentally I think those kids are young and uh if they learn themselves and in the next month or two, you know, I think they're only going to get much better. So, I was really I'm sure that I would be attending more of the time, too. So, with

that, I do not think there's anything else. So, I will call
