All right, it is now 4:00. No, yes. might be here. >> And then Will's doing the not to roll. So >> we scorched them. iron ironically will that's not his fault that's happened for a while >> and the next one is >> I'd love to please nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thanks. >> Okay. Item number four is the approval of the agenda. All those in favor? Item number five is public comment for items not listed on the agenda. For this item, the public is invited to address the board. Speakers are limited to three minutes each by law. Not allowed to take action on the number. This is interest. >> Yeah, just a regular board meeting for next year. So that item number seven pres. >> Okay. So, I just

like to talk to you a little bit about Brandon tonight. Start with we have our achievement in the cast scores. Um so we went down a little bit in the LA and a little bit more than we like now. But as we look at the cohorts, we had some good growth in ELA. scores 95% has been really great some but when we look at our NWA scores we had really good growth. So um you can see the first one is meeting and on the bottom that we were able to move from the orange level to the the yellow level. So we were at the 56 percentile and then in math we also so achieve so we looked at these scores we really hopeful it's just interesting to see that they weren't as we expected. So

these are our this is our plan for what we're going to do. So we have our work PLC work that we're doing. Um we also have a monthly academic RTI so response to intervention team uh where we look at students that we're concerned about. Um once they're on the list they stay there until we're not concerning we are doing tier two so which is reting fields. So teachers are looking and then we also look at the academic you know in the academic meeting if they teaching. And so that happens within the classroom. We have a lot of different uh programs that we use um like live where students are reading passages. Um and we also have the AR books that they're interested in. They take tests. So there's a lot of things that they do

with their level within the classroom. And then if they tier three, so they're still struggling after they get teaching at their level in the classroom, then they're small interventions. Um, and they're working on 95% intervention that they're working with kids at their level. Um, we have lovely behavior support team as well. looking at behavior too because you're not behaving in the classroom but spark learn lots of strategies help students and then this year we're especially after we went to um conference we're going to look at test taking strategies within the classroom we did a little bit last year but we'll do a lot next so I want to talk about student experience. So beyond academics, there's lots of things that go on. Um I'm really happy that we still have a really active parent club

who provides um a lot support to us and um organizing activities like you can see the little girl there, Dr. Seuss night. Um they do Santa Shop. We just finished the harvest festival which was a lot of fun. Um and so they have events like that. Oh, the float floats um in the lake parade. We're also going to have a float in the parade again this year. We did that last year. It's a lot of fun. We're going to do it again. So, again, really appreciate support we get from our club. We're really lucky. Kids can also participate in um we have a few sporting events that they do. They really enjoy cross country. Cross country is great because all of the grade levels can participate. And then we also have a fourth and fifth

grade girls. Um we also have music. Um have does such a great job. She does several performances throughout the year. So if you look at the bottom middle, we just had a performance where all of the grade levels did different things and it was just fantastic. Um field trips. You can see the kids there. They went out to um the fish hatchery. really good time. There were just plenty of fish this year. And then we also have a lot of spirit days. You can see there kids all dressed up in their sports attire. So we just have a lot of fun things going on. Oh, we had some fire safety. We had some characters come up for that. That was a lot of fun. So we have a lot of things during the day and

um after school that kids and participate in. Next. Okay. Facilities. So, I just want to share a little bit. We're super excited. You know, we've been working on plans for quite a while to update our campus. Um, really excited to have facility. Um, so nobody has to go through the names anymore. So that's just that's a sketch of you know what we've been talking about of the plan for what our school next is from the back because the new TK facility will take that quite a bit of our playground playground will move up on the upper field and they'll still have the opportunity to play Wall is a favorite area. >> Sammy, you need to tell them about the most important part of the >> Oh, yes. So, there's a super slide that goes top

of the play area all the way down. >> So, the ribbon cutting will be going down the slide. So they'll there'll be a great path that will be accessible for anybody that goes up to the playground. And then this is just it's just an idea we have inside class. It'll just be a great space for those. That's it. >> Thank you, >> Mr. Chair. Seems like you have somebody those people here tonight. So, we have our gateway champion for the month and uh this person doesn't know a lot about Chast Lake. Hasn't doesn't have a lot of history here. Actually, it's funny. I don't know if they knew you were getting up here. you know, when you start talking about things to say like what, you know, I'll forget something because she's done so much

for this district and has been here how many years? 20 something. >> Yeah. Got a lot, right? Uh was fortunate enough to have her daughters when I was at Central Valley. Don has been a rock of the Gateway community for so many years and mentored so many people of course that she's been able to touch and I'm fortunate enough to go on Facebook and see some of the post I put up there awesome but uh most importantly it's meant so much to all and we're blessed to have you know still right now. I think you were here Sunday, right? bunch of weirdos coming here on Sunday, but it's just a testament wish you I thought justice. >> You did a great job that >> I thought you were forced. >> Well, Jesse's had >> volunte.

>> All right. Anyway, reports that Michelle reports >> just a quick um our just so you know that we supported the um reconfiguration board. We do have some teachers who are feeling a little stressed about the move and where they might land. So, I just wanted to put that out there. You know, like you know, rumors go around things are right. But I just want to make sure >> I don't think >> No, probably not. >> Thank you, Charlene. Do you have anything for CSA? have a little I really don't have a whole lot to report except we just did our second round of nominations for a new executive board and nobody was nominated. So our executive board will remain the same through this term which is um oh we added two people we added

as our communications officer Thurman will be our sergeant of arms and We have Sylvia as our secretary, Jennifer as our treasurer, Josh as vice president. So we have that and then we also had to open up nominations for our negotiations team. We had two open seats on that as well. And we added our negotiations team and then we also added for transportation. >> All right. This is administrative part. I didn't get a chance because Chris always seems to have October was a good month for us. Uh we had a couple of trips out just working with the experience came back to the show diesel tech went out this last week as well that went over great diesel tech professor it's know As the holidays come on, I'll take kids, you know, it's it's tough on

them sometimes come to school instruction like that. So shut up our secretaries in in the front of the school. Additionally, Scott is the uh The uh I gota give another shout out to Shin. She did a good job. She should be providing a Thanksgiving dinner for our kids on Friday. So hard they go something if they needed it. That's going to be great. All our teachers are stepping up. It's a it's been a busy uh October and early November, but it's uh it's getting there. So I'm actually Moving forward ahead of us tomorrow, but we have starting in the morning walk So 9 to 2:30 socials 5:30 to 6:30. Um, I just want to give a huge shout out to they did they're doing 120 full turkey dinners for our students. Um, and they did

an awesome meeting last night where they celebrated all the fall semester students. I'm a Hawaiian. I wasn't there last night. I made Jim do it. Um, but I just want to say that what they do and I moved them on our campus again because I keep like finding where is a niche for them. We think we finally found the home. Um it's in between the welding and the construction or the wood shop room and so they have direct access and we found school to get to all the food. They they had to order all their food for the entire month of November and December for all the food backpacks and the turkey dinners. And Kathy Wheeler is determined in person and it's completely full to the students. I just want to say that's what they

do for our district each and every week. And then the turkey dinner is a whole another. Thank you. >> Want to give a shout out to growing and they're doing more and more for our school. We had parade, Halloween parade. We had the fall festival and we're going for the winter festival on December 4th. 530 and they're getting more community people involved. Rob is going to be there. We have library there trying to um get people library cards and helping with transportation over the holidays and they're getting a coat drive to get help sign up if they child needs a coat um to be able to get coats to the children need that. And then they've been working with our community connect and we have families that are donating lots of food that we're going

to be able to give out to families that are in need of food along with what the quantis is already. So, we're looking forward to a fun night, but also an information about Awesome. All right. I know we did go over it and didn't see anything myself already prior years. So under new business December 17. >> Yeah. It's just notice that it's just going to So it's action. >> Yes. Okay. Number two is discussion action to approve resolution use of lease lease back construction that project wouldn't be a big project. the paper. >> This one it's for this project in particular, but if this would be something that the board wants to do for every individual projectility to use this um and based on and I can kind of run down a little bit of

the information also we have our project manager Liz Dials here in case they There you are. Okay. Uh talk about this because you know there's there's a couple different methods with design build which allows for a little more time especially when projects are a long time right along. Um you know those ask for request for proposals and scoring and there's it takes a longer process to get those done. um with the police leave that fall if things are a bit tighter of a timeline we can do a request for qualification in which we can request those and then we can have a a look at who's applying to be able to do the the work and then we're able to uh complete that at a faster pace. Um and then it allows for pre-construction to

be done a lot faster. There's not as much weight time. There's not one that's good and one that's It's just a couple different models. They gave away what I was told to use this model as back in 14 and then another 11 as well. Um, so it's really as needed and the reason being is that when you when you have the time to do the bill and work that out, it's appropriate and fine. The question that I always say is, you know, putting students first, you know, in terms of trying to get things done so that we're not inconveniencing either family, or students trying to get on time sometimes better for that. So, we have two different projects going on. We have the staff that that's working with Grand Oak. Um, we've met with their

team frequently, multiple members of their team, probably started a little bit earlier too with them. And so, we're able to get a little more project progress working with Studio W. It's been great. They've been really good. The progress has not been as fast. Not that it's slow, it's just different. They work different. Some people maybe a little more detail oriented on certain things that other group they give you things to look at. Say pick one, you know, one of these two or three things and so it's not that we're behind, but for me really having my eyes on 27 28 school year. So this leads back to the model that's used by a lot of districts. Um for us it's really as need you know. So we're this one we're thinking we don't want to

push this out to November. This model will help us get out a little bit quicker starting everything a little bit faster and get us off. This will be our ability potentially do that situation where it's >> okay on this. Because what I was introduced to when I was going through the information on this directly school and making that >> and I would like to delete the off project specific project >> because I believe >> if I could clarify. So every time that uh so every time that you would do a contract, you would still have to approve the lease back process. We would still have to say yes, this is the method. This resolution is simply allowing the district to say lease back is a method that we would potentially consider in the future. That's

all this resolution is saying. There will be additional resolutions to say we want to do it on the Shassley schools project. Here's the RFP, right? So, you'll have that resolution. You'll have the resolution to consider the contract. You'll have there's going to be a lot of multiple different resolutions. So, I just wanted to clarify that this isn't that you will be using this like there'll be additional steps in the approval process. This is resolution is just simply saying that the district is allowed to use leak as a procurement method. It's atypical right it's not the the goto typically is bit built. So for this to be >> is much scarier here. >> Yeah. >> It's just the opportunity for you to le stack is something that we would consider in the future if by approving

it whether it's if it by approving it as projects you're eliminating the need to do this step again but there's always going to be additional steps there wouldn't be a time when we would the district could consider at least the back without the board saying yes we would do >> so we had construction site still >> yeah this is just that resolution like you have it for posterity to say yes the district has approved the use of these >> that's the understanding based on what will be coming back >> that's what we came in our fourth meeting our agenda was a specific project that we were going to stay on that >> yeah I was for us. Do I have one motion for project? >> Well, just to clarify, I think the concern was not

knowing if we were using this model in the future, right, for another construction project. That's not what this is doing. This is just giving us the ability to do that. So if we were coming using this, it would still come forth. Even if you said we're able to use this project, it's not something that we would go out and do another construction without. >> That was my question. I wasn't here, you know, I wasn't here for that. So I'm not sure but this I don't remember doing them in the past. >> Right. >> Well, so our attorney I think later when we reached out said this would be something that we should do this month. But if we had a new project through So my question is nothing. So effectively nothing different >> and it's

same project in our board package. I didn't make when I posted the agenda it was >> but again you just come Make a motion to approve. Second. >> All right. Start. Good question. I'm aware of summer looking at July. >> Yeah, the the plan is to start grounding in June. That with the lease back, it does offer us the opportunity to take kind of a phase approach to the TSA. So, we'll go in with working hand in hand with the contractor to do some body of engineering to do some of that design. We'll have the contractor on board. So, we'll be able to start the underground a lot sooner and getting that phase of the project moving. So, we'll start that the goal is to start >> uh we'll submit them in two separate phases

and right now the goal is to sometime in February with that several months >> and that's go through their process. That's correct. Where with the grand nose project as a for instance, we'll be hitting DSA um already by the middle of December towards the end of December. Sometime with Christmas the holidays DSA shuts down this year, but we're aiming for like the 15th December to start that process for grand votes. We're shake. We're lagging a little behind just architects. They work different organizations. So the way that this architect works, the soonest that they were able to get us in with what we need to be able to submit to DSA was going to be not till much later using this stack. We're able to phase it in to have the same contractor. So it'll save

the district much in the long run which is important and we can get into DFA faster and like kind of a phase approach. limiting the base so the underground contracts can get started. We'll continue the divine for the school that so we'll start coming out of the ground a little faster at Grand Oak. We'll be able to get in ground at the same time. Uh, student services. This is the plan for this school year. I think it's hard to hear people. She's looking at us. second factor under student services discussion and or action to approve the California interch. >> Yes, please. activities for the year to the various camps. We actually camp next week um for three days. They're not providing services during this week. So the services would start during winter break and president's

week, spring break, and then we have a couple of weeks summer as well. So there that's the contract to provide quite a bit of activity during this month. >> Thank you. This is actually later than usual. So I usually I do have another Dana human resource action to approve 5.6 agenda chapter number 6.6 student. >> So this is annually to pay for the staff for the weekend. It was a little late to this year simply because we missed the negotiations process. So we're asking to expire >> August 14th >> idea. All right. Do I have any questions? >> All right. carry instruction services discussion or action to approve the CTA CTE facilities the grand construction modernization. >> Um yeah just speaking to both of them first and then I'll tackle them individually. >> Correct. Um

so proposition two um includes a specific CTE facilities grant opportunity uh schools in California. Many of our CTE grants do not allow us to make adjustments to facilities. They focus on curriculum and program pieces. U so we're really excited to see this. Uh it's a competitive grant and there's multiple stages for both both of these I'm bringing to you today. This is just the first stage in which we will submit it to CDE. Uh California Department of Education goes through our narrative, our uh preliminary plan and score it and if we get an adequate score, then they move it on to a second phase. And in that second phase, um our plan would include true architect plans, specs, all that kind of stuff, DSA, and that would happen in June. and then there's potential for

funding at that point. Um so with both of these grants the state is offering a onetoone match the modernization projects both of these would be modernization projects um and they will match to the market and um both of these projects are ones we already have slated under our measure J bond CTE programs or plan and to each specific plan, but that's just the background on this opportunity for us. Um, our construction trades summer project. Um, our current construction program is what was um right there on CB's campus. You got the details on it and it was built in 1976. >> Yeah. So, our modernization would include re- roofing. Um, the fire safety infrastructure is added the end of the end. And then we would also put a pavilion kind of like a large outdoor workspace

where students can build larger projects. Um that project right now is looking to be uh oh we would also purchase a forklift truck and trailer to aid with the larger project builds those students would do. So the match um on that one we're basically extending our bond funds an additional 1.5 million. So the total projects to be about 2 million right now and so our district match funds would be motion. >> Second one is basically the same thing. >> Yeah. So this is um they require you to an application for each pathway and that's why we have to do two separate applications. So our um agriculture pathway um is housed in our ad fabrications building that one dates back to 1955 1955 and um over the course of uh those decades it's been numerous different

CTE type programs. Um, it has been on our list to remodel for years. Um, we're at the point where it also has extended its uh, lifespan. We have windows. We don't have adequate power to run enough stations to house a number of students who are interested in program. Um and we are lacking some of the equipment that our industry partners have said are relevant in in terms of welding and fabrication and current industry. Um so this is a much big this project has a much bigger scope. It includes electrical ventilation. Um the classroom and office that are in there don't allow for adequate work space or supervision that the students number of students that we want to have in there. Uh we also have the rollup door is that fuel chain rollup door and that

outdoor space is uh not usable by students at this time. Um which when we're talking about welding demands in our current industry, they really need to be able to do some of those larger fabrication projects like fixing trailers and those type of things. Um so this modernization would also include making a workable space. Right now they can't currently be out there for electrical issues, coverage, etc. So the step of that project's a lot larger. Um that's coming in at about 5 and a half million. Again, if we get this grant, the state would match up to 1.5 of that. It's already project that's part of our bond plan. So it's basically you know if we get both of these it would extend our bonds to address So you have the abstract questions, >> right? So

basically um back 2020s were purchased for hybrid model instruction didn't work out necessarily the way the plan was 27 I believe We bought these with the first we had to get the goods in hand by December 31st. That's when we get back to allowing the superintendent to uh sp That's why. >> All right, Mr. Superintendent, you are up. >> Well, I hope everybody had a special Veterans Day. I always want to thank our veterans special time to honor. We have so many district hard at work in the reconfiguration process. I want to make sure you know I respond to Michelle definitely that's important. We met a couple hours yesterday looking at potential placements and all those things. We understand and luckily you have a lot of former teachers you know who have that mindset of

you know how are teachers feeling at this point in terms of maybe some of that where am I going to land so we definitely understand that we've been meeting a lot with architects been integral part of that process and continues it seemed like we just opened up school and here we are those that have had an education for a while though that sometime once you get to Thanksgiving you blink as much you know between everything is amazing that go but um it's been equally as exciting to be able to work on that so just short and sweet tonight want to wish the thanks happy Thanksgiving to everybody out there by far my favorite season about being just enjoying family and you know food and football my favorite But um you know I'd also want to

thank our educators for being a rock for those students who often times don't get maybe the same Thanksgiving that I get and that others get and you know being sensitive to those students als Wish everybody feel that means a lot to me. looking forward to a lot of stuff really fast. Like I said, it's going to be hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving break and family. Welcome. Um, I attended the veterans parade. Very happy to see Roger City. Still slips back there. Been there pretty much every year. I do believe. Nice to be able to see some of our other schools participate in the spring. Next year we're going to have a middle school. Maybe we have a band. Enterprise was there. Was there was there we did have some of our five or six

football players show up as part of the parade. Very well done. So other than that, happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the week. Bill, thanks for putting your new. So that takes one thing off the pal. >> Oh, thank you, Bill, as well. I know we'll do something more formal, but you know, it's a bittersweet for grand. were all a little jealous, but I told you you look great. Said I'm not going to play your age, but I said, "I hate your skinare routine." >> Well, I also wish everybody happy Thanksgiving. I did anybody else questions, you know? All right, you guys. We are definitely in the holidays and it's going to go quickly.
