All in favor? I >> Mr. Walk and Mr. Rivas are absent. Uh item D, public communication. Any person wishing to comment on agenda and non-aggenda items may may do so. Please

step to the podium and state your name. It would be appreciated if you would limit your comments to 3 minutes. California law prohibits the school board from taking any action on any matter which is not on the posted agenda unless it is determined to be an emergency by the board. Per board policy BB9323, individual speakers may be allowed three minutes to address the board on each agenda or non-aggenda item. The board may limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. With board consent, the president may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard. The president may take a poll of speakers for or against a particular issue and may ask that additional persons speak only if

they have something new to add. Uh item E, action item, approval of career technical education facility program seventh funding cycle application. Could I get a motion for action item number one? >> I make the motion. >> Thank you, Mrs. Gonzalez. >> I second. >> Thank you, Mrs. >> If you guys want, Kevin can kind of explain to you what what uh he went through getting this application done if you would like that. >> Sure. You came all this way. Let's hear your speech. >> I mean, we already kind of approved it, right? Like >> Oh, yeah. No. Yeah, we could. We're >> good. >> Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Mr. Magcguire. As you can see in front of you, you have a site plan as well as a floor plan for the proposed

building, which would be funded through the CTE facilities program grant. Um, [snorts] this grant is a one:1 match requirement with a maximum funding amount of $3 million. The intent here was to um recommission our powder coating facility, our powder coating system, as well as increase our project space for students in our capstone courses in the metal fabrication program. Uh currently our powder coating booth and oven were purchased a number of years ago. Um which you can see those in the drawings there. In the facility that they're in right now, we have some fire code violations and it is cost prohibitive to go ahead and retrofit that building to use them in their current location. After doing some research, I found this funding source and came up with this plan to build a new building adjacent

to the existing building. So, if you look at the site plan there, you can see the existing building. Um, so right across inside of the like a mechanics compound, let's call it the fenced off area, we would use that remaining uh space. Currently, it's used for uh our horiculture, raised beds, um and it has a small storage building on it. So, the proposed building is approximately 5,400 square ft. Um it would encompass a blasting booth, which is another problem. So, this grant resolves a number of um constraints that we're up against. The first and most important with powder coating, it's very important that the surface is prepped prior to applying the powder. So if we have rust, debris on the metal, the powder doesn't adhere and you get a poor product. Initially it looks great

and then it flakes off within a year or two. Um so the blasting booth would be used to prep the surface and we kind of have a sequence here where the projects would roll out of one bay into the next. So, it's a progressive process. And then at the end there, they'd have a place to cool off because they're being baked at approximately 400°. So, projects come out, they have to cool for about an hour before they can be handled. And then on the north side there, you can see where we have project construction space um with two large rollup doors for access um to move materials in and out. >> I think that's about it. You have any questions for me? Thank you, sir. Um, any questions for Mr. McGuire? >> No, I had

read it and looked at it before the meeting. Thank you. So, it would cost us or reduce how much savings? >> So, the total budget >> total budget for the project is about 6.5 million. So, the state, if the state approves this project, they would give us three million for it. So, it would we would be out of our bond funds would be 3.5 million. >> Okay, good. >> Yep. Thank you, sir. All right. So, for action item number one, uh Mrs. Gonzalez, uh first motion and it was second by Mr. Rudy. Uh all in favor, >> I and Mr. Walk and Mr. Rivas are absent. All right, Adam F and German. See you guys in a couple weeks for the December 8th meeting.
