001all right good morning my name is uh miss miller some of you i might have you as a freshman in the zed um yeah i just asked you guys yet thank you take your headphones off appreciate it um i also have the honor of teaching a class called peer leadership and what that is it's a daily class of mainly seniors and a few freshmen and i'm not freshmen season few juniors and anyhow they too were once freshmen like you who sat in this conference center and listened to more about the program and what we do is it's a daily class and we learn we work on like communication skills being a leader what composes a good leader and one great thing is and i always call it a win-win is because they're gaining leadership experience
002then they're working with you so once a month we have what's called an outreach and they will meet with you you've been paired up uh into groups right now you guys are groups one through three and um the date's still to be determined but you meet with two of these peer leaders each time you have the same peer leaders maybe you saw the posters up in the main entrance by the gym if not take a look there today but we meet once a month and we work on different things of just creating friendships normally before covet you know it's kind of weird being a freshman and coming in here maybe not knowing people and it's difficult well now add code of it add these stupid masks and it's harder to get to know one another
003these group of seniors and juniors are they're the cream of the crap of our school they're active in a lot of different activities sports clubs organizations listen to the different things that they do and try and strive to do extra in that you know do things that you can get involved with um and make your school year here a lot more enjoyable than just coming here doing the online stuff doing it in the classroom stuff and then going home you're going to get more out of your high school experience by getting involved okay so i challenge you when they give their little feels here listen to all the different things that they're involved in know that you can go to them even if they're not your peer leaders you'll see them in your phys ed
004classes in the hallways they're there to help you it's hard enough becoming a freshman into a new school and then now put these silly things on and it's it's a lot more challenging so they're here to help you um kind of be a big brother big sister all right i'll i'll shut up and let these guys go ahead take it away all right so what is career leadership a daily class for juniors and seniors that have been selected from a large group of applicants this class works on leadership skills public speaking and monthly outreaches with a full-time freshman chief peer leaders meet with their freshman freshman groups once a month after first period and this is called an outreach and the peer leaders leave their groups in different activities based on a certain topic in
005these outreaches the freshmen will get to know other freshmen and their career leaders better some topics include friendship dealing with stress harassment and volume our first outreach will be at the end of this month the date is still to be determined who your peer leaders are and what group you're in will be listed at the end and will be posted in your exploratory classrooms and outside of the gym advisors observe the peer leaders leading their freshman group but following our advisors miss agassini mr billy miss chin miss craig mr d'antonio mr harris mr mcelroy miss miller miss purdy ms schuster and miss sega so without further ado meet your peer leaders alright good morning everyone my name is frank bazil uh just a little fun fact i have a younger brother who goes here uh
006i probably don't want to hear me talk but i'm going to talk anyway i'm a second year peer leader at cape may tech i'm a senior i'm the captain of the cross country team president of the student council skillsusa broadcast news silver medalist and a level three student here at uh in the communication arts career technical class i currently have a pilot's license i got it over the summer so i've been having a lot of fun flying the past couple days i have two jobs i work for the recreation department of wildwood crest and i work at maurice pierce as a ride operator uh in my free time i like to go on the rides go to the water park ride my bike hang with my friends and family and of course going on a
007little trip in the airplane every once in a while just to have a little fun me and my partner emily look forward to meeting each and every one of you thank you take it away katie hello everyone my name is katie bowman i'm a senior and a first year peer leader i'm enrolled in the cosmetology in the cosmetology program and this is my fourth and final year on cheers i enjoy hanging out with my friends and spending time with family in my free time i also work two jobs i work at a salon and a yacht club i live at home with my mom and dad and my twin sister and a son of an older brother who lives in deffer and my plans after high school are to graduate college and pursue my career

009i went to go to college and become a traveling nurse [Applause] all right hey guys my name is jake i'm 17 and i'm a senior and a second year peer leader here at tech i'm a member of the swim team and the national honor society and that's those are my in-school activities at a school i'm also a boy scout i am super involved with theater and i'm going to college next year to study musical theater my partner is kaylee and we will hear a little bit about her later but we can't wait to meet you and hopefully make your year a little bit less stressful hey hi guys i'm lisa um this is my first year as a peer leader i am 17 and i'm also in the low and public safety cte um i
010work two jobs i work at oceanside seafood during the summer in the student home club during the winter time i was born and raised in sarasota and lived in tampa for a while um and i'm just so excited to meet all of you guys and i can't wait for this year and my partner josh and i are just so excited to meet you guys hi guys i'm jada i'm a senior i'm in the allied medical program my goal is to become a pediatric physical therapist i am the president of national honor society and i'm also in key club my family owns an ice cream collar so anybody who knows me knows i'm spending 95 percent of my time there and i also volunteer at daycare which is super cool because i'm so interested in pediatrics
011outside of school though i love to travel and i love to hang out with my friends and i'm really excited to work with all you guys this [Applause] hi year i'm caitlin and i'm a senior here at caitlin tech i'm 17 years old and i'm a first year peer leader um here at tech i am a level 3 student in the allied medical program and i am the parliamentarian of the national honor society i spend most of my time hanging out with friends outside of school and working sadly um some of my favorite things to do include spending time with family and friends binge watching netflix shows and going on nature walks especially this new year that's a little about me but i look forward to knowing some of you guys and i'm excited for

013things for her so you would still get to know her when she comes back so kaylee's in the allied medical program which she loves she is also a super active member of the national honor society and she's a member at large so any time that we have community service projects she's always one of the main people who shows up to every single one of them and is constantly giving back to the community she loves goofing off you can see that picture of her dog on the bottom hanging out with her friends and spending time with her family on vacation so she's super excited to come back and say hi to all you guys meet you [Applause] hi guys i'm joshua i'm 17 year old years old and i'm the third branch of the travel environment

015sisters [Music] talk about getting involved and the more love you get the more you'll lean out of it and then we're going to talk about some of the sports teams and activities we have serious baseball basketball shooting cross country golf soccer softball and swimming those are sports teams this is some activities and clubs we have a ct archery ffa floor hockey key club mock trial and here's some more we have skillsusa student council teen center tennis volleyball weightlifting in yearbook all the full-time freshmen have been grouped with a pair of peer leaders these groups will be the same all year and will meet once a month there are six groups with about 10 freshmen in each group a list of these groups will be in your exploratory class and outside of the gymnasium please see

017on the screen you were worried that you were not with your friends but this is a good thing you're going to have the chance to make a whole bunch of new friends go into the outreaches with a positive attitude that will make the outreaches more enjoyable for you and everyone in your group we are about to offer you tootsie pops as you know they come in many flavors and are different on the outside but they are the same on the inside keep this in mind as you go throughout the school year and meet new people in your community now more than ever it is important to remember who we are that we are in this together be kind to everyone thank you all right before we dull out the uh candy which are free anybody
