004bean sports at Bird and thank you for your time. It's been an honor to present to you and to be on student council president. Thank you very much. Um, I got your middle name there. Anyone else got have any questions for >> you indicated one of the things? >> Yeah. So, >> um I know like every also One of your favorite events of the whole >> I'm excited to see what's trusty script one of my questions because I also wanted to hear about that. I'm glad he asked that one based on what your teacher said. I think every single one of them That seems like a very good not only

005good job. Great job. Uh 3.2 is the school site presentation by Daniel Kushman, principal First, I want to start by saying thank you guys for doing such a great job. Thank you for representing our school. Well, I'm excited to add on to what you've already shared about this. I have brought with me my vice principal Amanda Stevens and my dean Kate Cotner who will help me present some of the amazing things that we do on our campus. I wanted them both to be involved because we are a team and without them a lot of these things I'm here wouldn't be possible. When you walk around our campus, you quickly identify that the common thread among all staff is that students are at the heart of everything we do. Student growth is supported through intentional systems,

006targeted instruction, and strong culture of recog. Our teachers, support staff, custodians, and bus drivers work together so our students can thrive. Normally, I would not read verbatim from my notes for this, but this next section, I do not want to sell it short, so I'm going to read exactly what I wrote here. Okay. One of the school's cornerstone instructional strategies is walk to Learn, a campuswide intervention that provides students with targeted instruction based on current data. During walk to learn, students move to classrooms based on their skill level, enabling teachers to deliver focused instruction in small groups. This flexible model supports both enrichment and remediation, ensuring every student receives exactly what they need. Walk to Learn has been especially impactful this year in mathematics where students have been building mastery in foundational skills such as

007numbers, addition and subtraction, telling time, subetizing, and numbering. Fluid grouping allows students to move as they progress, reinforcing confidence and So this is a first grade um walk to learn example where you can see pictures of kiddos working on subetizing and memberson small groups. And then we have a fifth grade example where they are working in small groups on enrichment opportunities and at this point I'm ask to come up and share a little more about how we're supporting but I do have a question for all of you. Who can tell us what subetizing is? >> Say say it again. >> Who can tell us what subetizing is? Yeah. So, the kids in that last picture were rolling dice and so with automaticity, they we want them to be able to say it immediately. So, that's

008what the first graders were talking. >> They know what that >> you know what they the first grade teachers use it a lot. So, I'm going to say yes, they do. Yes. Um, okay. So, I am here just to talk about some of the academic supports that we have going on at Rosedale North School. Um, we have a math credential teacher and then a reading credential teacher and um we also have EL groups uh that are run by an instructional aid. We have 10 instructional well eight instructional aids at our school and two activity aids. It has been amazing having all of that support on the playground and in the classroom. Each grade level has pretty much their own instructional aid which the instructional aid then can get to know the kids in that grade

009level has rapport building relationships with that with those students in that grade level. Um, let's see. The teacher tutors for reading. The teacher tutor for reading uh uses read naturally heard and then OG and um for phonics instruction and to the next one. And then uh we have started some community partnership at Rosedale North. Uh we definitely see Uh, in star reading, a lot of it is vocabulary, vocabulary, vocabulary. And so, how can we give the students at Rosel Norris more vocabulary, more real world experiences? So, we came up with Community Partners and we've had uh some of those pictures are a dad that works at for the railroad company has come out and told the kids what he does, you know, for a living, which is awesome because that's something that even the adults

010learn in the cafeteria, like what exactly goes on. And we are always looking for other school. If um any of you would like to come on out and talk to like this these pictures were just first grade, but if you want to talk to the whole school, we are willing and um wanting you guys to come out. So that is it. I'm going to hand it over to so I get to talk about the warm and fuzzy stuff with Danielle and I both being new to Danielle coming back too but myself being one of the things that we talked about that we really wanted to put some of our focus on was celebrating our kiddos because you have some fantastic kiddos um that we just want to celebrate. We want think of ways that we

011can celebrate um in ways that were different than just the typical academic. So that one thing is the road community partners that we brought forward. Um and then a couple other things we'll talk about in just a little bit. We started roadrunner rock stars roadr runners dining with the dean is back and then also we do attendation throughout the year. Definitely we want our culture to recognize and motivate our students to kind of embrace the challenges and persist through those difficulties that Roadrunner Rockstars is one of the ones I mentioned. Um this has nothing to do with school. We were looking for ways to celebrate our kiddos outside of school. Um because if you've ever been in a classroom, especially for second grade, every single day the kids come to school, they want to tell

012you about everything they did last night and they're just trying to get on with the day and get everything that you need to get done. But it's important to recognize the outside accomplishments that our kiddos do. So it can range from really. We have heard from kiddos who earn special awards with their church. We've learned of kids who've gone on super awesome vacations outside of the country. We've learned about students who have super awesome um sorry athletic accomplishments that they've gone through and done on their own. So it's really an awesome way that we one we get to know our kids and the second way is just to make light of the cool things that they're doing outside of school. So how it works is teachers are the ones hearing from the kiddos. Um we'll

013hear about it from a kid, the teachers nominate them, send the Google form to us and then we get to announce them and celebrate them during lunch in the cafeteria. Um some of them love it, some of them hate it, but we make them rockar glasses and a big blowup guitar and take a picture in the front of the cafeteria. And then once they do their little presentation or talk about what they do or their why they're being nominated, we'll take a picture up on the bulletin throughout the year. Another thing that we brought forward this year is Bad Road Runners. And this is a monthly nomination. We try to do it monthly a little bit more if we can. Um teachers get to nominate kiddos for this and this can be just a way

014for students to celebrate. It could be anything in academic behavior any kind of growth and we're looking it doesn't have to be good. I mean growth is growth. So we'll take a you know onepoint growth to take a five point growth. Whatever the growth is we want to celebrate it. Um the kiddos do not know about it. So basically it's a total surprise when Christ and I walk into the classroom with her we call it our little red riding red hood basket. has all kinds of goodies in it and the kids know what we're there for. Uh we will the teacher gives us kind of a one or two little sentence description of why they were nominated as RAD road runner road runner. We read it out loud to the class. So this serves as

015a role model for the other kids in class to see themselves. Um they love getting it and then the last part of the award is we have the teacher or we've also had staff members nominate kids. Um so we have whoever nominated them take a picture with them and the certificate and That day we sent home an email to the parents um just saying, "Hey, we're so proud of your kiddo. We're let them have them at Rosemore. Here's why their teacher nominated them." And it's really funny because you hear back from a lot of parents who are like, "Oh my god, I was scared to death. Open this email. My principal, my vice principal emailing me, what did my kid do?" And then they open their picture and she's their kid smiling. Um so we

016have gotten a lot of positive feedback from parents in regard to that. Not the typical big awards you do here on a something more every day and we've seen the success dining with the dean Mr. Clottner is the star of that but we have set it up so that if classes with the whole collective other class if they make at least four months of both sid and Mr. does a great job of up on stage to decorate tablecloths and little flowers in the middle and then treat. Um, and I will say I have never been on a campus. I have never been on a campus to hear kids come up to you and say, "Hey, I did really good on my star reading test. Are you going to check it? When are you gonna check

017my score?" At first, Danielle and I looked like we never seen this. But they were so invested in it. It was awesome. And so Kate went around to each of the classrooms, made the huge poster that goes on their and help them fill it out and the whole process and we just finished our first meeting with the dean and the kids had a great and then we also obviously will recognize for attendance. We have the typical perfect attendance awards but we also um have tried to put in a fun some fun different ideas or ways to incentivize our kiddos to be at school. Obviously we want school to be a fun place where they want to be. Um, so we've had multiple dress up days. We'll come up with percentage challenges with primary versus intermediate.

018We can have the best attendance. Um, we tried to do a silly string challenge. We gave them the goal of 96%. Yes. Because they may or may not have not wanted to get silly strong. Um, but if they won, Mrs. Kushman, myself, and Mrs. Platner are gonna be silly strong by the keep asking about it. So, I think we need to do it again. We purchased a little Plinko game. Um, and it's very simple, very easy. The kids know when we're out in the morning, they come find us. They get a little token. They drop it in the Plinko game. They get the surprise or the reward or whatever is that color. And that is literally just for showing up for school. Um, we just do it on random days here on time. Hey, go

019find this. Go find Mr. and the kids love that as well. Um, we also purchased this year classroom attendance board. So, the upper right picture, each class has one. Um, it's hard to see, but the left side says classroom membership. So, you fill out how many kids in your class. Middle side or middle is number of students present for that day and your daily attendance percentage. Um, and that's just a great visual and it helps the buyin of the kiddos who we have teachers snap pictures of it and send it to parents say, you know, wow, we're so proud of our class. We've had three days ago. We're 100%. Keep it up. Um, we've also had teachers kind of use it as a flip side. Hey, we're working on this. if you can help us

020with having the kiddos here. So then you think with that and it's fun when the kids when you walk into the classroom because we just started it in about a month now but when you walk into the classroom the kids say hey did you see our attendance hey did you see it um and so that in itself is filmed um and then we also are trying to plan a lot of fun activities on campus. So we did a bubble gum competition. Um disc started in the classroom the grade level and then we did school competition and then we let the winner compete against staff. So just finding fun, engaging ways to presentation with sharing with you what we've been hearing from our families because we wanted to make sure that what we're doing is making

021a difference for our kids. So, I'm going to read a few of these. So, it says, the first one says, "My daughter really enjoys the hands-on learning. It helps her get excited about." The second one is, "The school is overall just great at supporting my kids." And the last one says, "I feel like the school staff does a really good job of being involved with the kids and really getting to know them. It can be really scary sending your disabled child to school because you don't know how people are going to treat them. But I know that at this school, my child is 100% safe, 100% cared for, 100% paid attention to, and he absolutely loves his school. And that is all the confirmation that we need to conclude. Thank you guys. >> Thank you

022very much. Um, any questions? >> Well, I would like to make a comment about the community. a lot in the community and I think it's exciting for the students whose parents I think especially for this conversation starters maybe once they get home from school and say Hey mom or hey dad so and so with our school today and talk about the railroad you know anybody that works or whatever. So I think that's really really good to keep kids engaged and constantly looking out for that. That's great. >> My question is so you're pretty far along in the school year now. Tell me a victory that was tough at first, but it's the hill you've overcome. Could be a student, could be just a situation. Obviously, you don't need any. >> I mean, I feel like

023I have a handful of students that I could say. I feel like we're winning the battle on finally. Um, you know, but it takes a lot and it takes everybody. So, I do feel like we have a great team at Rosell North and everybody's willing to wrap around anybody that needs it. So, it takes everyone. Um, but I feel like we do have a handful today that we definitely trending in the right way. Now, we have a question about the Walk toLearn program. Do the children walk in the same grade or are they going into different classrooms? It's the same grade. They are going into different classrooms, but it's within their grade. What is your favorite thing to do at Rosestone North? >> Good for you. >> I like that. >> He takes charge, too.

024>> Okay. My favorite thing is being with the students. Anything with the students when I get to be out with you guys either at arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, morning recess. That's my favorite. Thank you so much um for telling us all about your school. It's uh I can really see the teamwork going on. Thank you. >> All right, moving into 3.3. We're going to do some staff reports. Oh, well, I guess you probably got homework to do and the rest of the meet meeting is very boring. So, if you'd like to get out of here and do your homework, you can do that at this time. But first, anybody My grandma's right here. >> And then my mom is right there. She works at Greensfield. And then Madison Mackenzie, they're my step sisters. They go

025to Freedom. And then my dad and my little sister right there. >> Thank you. How about did any of your special teachers come? Uh, Miss Lmer and Miss Robertson came >> fantastic. I'd just like to say to your parents, you got to be unbelievably proud. That that was quite a statement that everybody loves your child. Everybody is proud of him and everybody thinks he's a kind. I want to tell you like before the meeting started, the young and I were talking We're talking specifically about being and crazy that conversation went on, but we were talking right before the meeting started about being kind. And I mentioned I believe that being kind is one of the most important things there is in the way you act. And I believe what comes around goes. You know what

026that means? >> Yeah. >> I believe in what comes around goes around. So you just keep forever. >> And I just wanted to apologize for being presentation, but I have a job at the county and those things that I had to help other people. >> So if you'd like to get out of here, >> good job. No one. Good job, buddy. Now we'll go into 3.3 staff reports. All right, I'll go ahead and get started. Um so for the operations report there's not a lot going on this week or this month. Um but um I'll have uh you know second interim for you um next meeting. Um but in the meantime we are working on our J13A waiver. Um this is the waiver that the state allows us to fill out to um to recoup

027days where we had a closure. Um so this year so far we've had two school closures due to um due to the fog. Um and um we tried everything we could by postponing two hours then one hour then an extra half hour on Sundays just really trying to not make that closure if we could at all possible um you know stay away from that. We we tried we did everything we could and unfortunately on two of those days we did have to close. Um and so what we're doing is we're in the process of filling out that waiver. um basically we're going to qualify for um for the school closures. Um on the the other days that we had um fog delays um I went through and looked at our ADA compared to our October

028numbers for ADA. We have to have a 10% decrease um before it's considered material from the state. Um and lo and behold, we actually have pretty decent attendance on on fog delay days, which I was actually surprised by. Um the first fog delay day we had over 93% attendance which I think was pretty good considering and especially that was on the back end of a closure day. I'm so excited that students still came to school when they when they had the opportunity to do so in a safe way. Um and then on the next one the one that we had just this last the last on the 5th I believe. Um I think we were at 91% numbers were still coming in and we were clearing absences of people that were on independent study and

029things like that. to get a really accurate number, we have to wait about a week. Um, but as of right now, we over 91% for that day as well. So, still under the 10% threshold. Um, so we're going to fill out those waiverss. We're going to submit those to the county office. They're going to look through them, make sure that they we checked all the boxes, and then they'll submit to the um to the CDE, and we'll we'll hopefully hear back. Um, we say sometimes it could take up to two months before we know. And that's going to put us right in that ballpark of the end of the year. So it give us time to adjust to determine what's going to happen for if they deny the waiver then we have to make up

030if they approve the waiver then we won't. So I think as when we did the math just the other day I think we're 15 minutes away from being our concern. So, we might have a little bit of time that we have to make up over the course, but I don't think anybody's super worried about 15 minutes over the course of the next three months that we can make that 15 minutes up. But, it's the days. >> So, am I hearing you say you're pretty confident? Um we've we've had um so the good news is is that there have been fog closures that have been uh w you know so they've approved those waiverss for um so with that and I think we have a really strong case um on one of the days we had

031a 40 some odd car pile up um which it's really unfortunate news but I think it it really lends itself to our case and saying that we made the right decision on that day. Um, so got got as many news articles as I could to support it, our closure articles and posts for that and just really making sure that the state knows not only did we do this, you know, we did everything we could to stop this from happening, but we had to because there was no other choice. >> Yep. So, we are currently meeting with our school leadership teams. those just kicked off today and will continue for the remainder of this week. Um Christa and I am doing our consulting going out to the school sites and meeting with the teams and really

032working on their next steps. So um excited to have that work continue and that is really around building remember those positive behavior supports for kids on campuses and what does that look like and how do we respond because for everybody. So we we have to have some other tools in our in our tool bag and and Kim is helping us to develop that within all of our school sites. And then the other quick update I have for you is um the LOP because he doesn't about expanded learning. So, our sport activity that's currently going on with fourth through sixth grade and Skyhawks is basketball. We have two tournaments. We um we had to do some shifting because of the fog delays, but we do have two tournaments still planned for the 21st and 28th of

033this month and RMS hosts those for us. They're on a Saturday, so the kids get like a jamboree style tournament. Um, and then the other update from ELOP is regarding our junior theater, which is always a big hit. The rotation is currently at Independence Elementary. And if you are so inclined to join us for the production of Annie, it will be on February 25th at 3M at Independence Elementary. And my recommendation is we often are standing room only, so I would get there early. So last month I believe I notified you that we got a new school resource officer. Um she quickly after that meeting found out she was expecting so she is now on desk duty. So she is not our school resource officer anymore um for the duration. Um but we do have

034a new school resource officer officer Scotty Christens he's a current school resource officer with um and he um came and running um we are um getting to know him and he is really devoted to our community and really excited to be here. Um, so it even though we were disappointed to lose our new person, um, it's working out. He's going to be a great fit here. Um, and he would be happy to come to Roseful North and talk to your students about, um, his job. He's really looking forward to being on our school campuses and getting to know our students and mentoring their kids. So, we're excited to have him. So, if you see a male officer, that's why. Awesome. So, um, um, and then our, the other thing I wanted to share is we

035just finished our NTSS meeting. NTFS is multi-tered system of support. Um, we have a team um, Ashley Hel, Lisa, um, and Megan Smith. They are going out um looking to all of our campuses. Um they are looking at student data um for academics. So for reading and math and then we are also looking at our um social, emotional and behavior data, student attendance data. And at those meetings um we are looking to see what intervention students may need. Um and also the progress students are making that may not interventions any longer. Um, and it takes some time and a lot of work behind the scenes to gather all of that data, but we are really seeing some great progress. It ties in with the meetings that Janet was talking about with our positive behavior supports.

036Um, and it's just been a really good last few weeks to get to see the progress and both um, our students are making, but also all the things that our schools been building out support systems for our students. Um we're just seeing good progress with the grownup part and the part too. So it's just been a really positive exciting. >> Thank you. Um I got some talk to principal that had an in school and resource official that principal on that day and she just gave a rave review. He was very happy with what went on. >> Yes, I've gotten some really good feedback on how he talks to students and how he talks to parents really thorough job with that. So, good to hear. >> It is it. I just wanted to share it. you.

037All right, I just have a few items. Um, couple, not last Saturday, the Saturday before we had the job fair. Um, had a really good turnout at our booth. We had long lines waiting to to speak to our principles and um to all the admin that were there. So, um, lots of teachers interested in in doing school district. So, that was a lot of fun and nice to here and see the lines. Um, additionally, we just started our interviews. Um, getting to already start to interview some really great candidates. I I want to share one with you this morning. And um we offered um after the finish of the interview, she was someone who attended the job fair, came in and told us, you know, Rosedell was her number one uh choice that she this

038is where she wants to be and uh she has other job offers already, but she's put everybody on hold for us. Um, but one of the really touching parts is she's a former student and um had one of our teachers, Casey Neil, several times and throughout her interview she spoke about that impact that Casey had on her. And so it's just one of those times where you're remember you're reminded the impact that we have on students and why they may may may or may not make decisions along the way. And so I I know for for myself, I I had several teachers that were the reason that I decided to become a teacher and and so we interviewed someone this morning that um was really impacted by one of our teachers who I know does

039a phenomenal jobs and I I know we have lots of other uh teachers that have made the same impact. So that was just um kind of one of those heartwarming stories this morning. So she accepted the position. So um so we'll continue to do interviews and and hiring based on our needs. Um and um we've started gate testing. So that's that's underway. So I'll have more information on how many students who qualified towards later towards the end of the year. And um my team was busy setting up for the oral language festival. So they have uh decorated the PDC to the hilt and so we have balloons everywhere and um it will be a great event for parents to come in and be able to celebrate all the work that those students put into oral.

040um if you wanted to attend it's um we have some events tomorrow for junior high but um Thursday and Friday our elementaryaries will be presenting um starts right at 9:00 in the morning and um hopefully we'll have some really great um presentations this year. We're also live streaming. So, um I'll try to remember when we're done that I can send you live stream. That's something the IT department helps us with. And that's all. >> I did I had some kids in the neighborhood stop by and say for the oral language festival. It was so precious. And they did and they go for and actually Nothing. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Next slide, please. >> The superintendent report. >> Thank you. And I'm I'm actually seeing some um mistakes on there. So if we look at our

041January enrollment um you know what I I must have shared the wrong slide. So please ignore um that enrollment because it should say February and our TK through sixth grade is actually the same. So we're flatlined from um January before. It's just indicative of my day. I start something and then I get called away and start something. So, and then our preschool um is um I do know that we're continuing to um enroll students because I got a call from Patriot today wanting to know if they could overflow the road because so still uh continuing to get students. Um couple of things to celebrate. Our uh attendance is at 96.27%. Um so our school sites are doing a great job. not only to you know build our kids up for the social emotional but encouraging

042them to come to school and it's it's painful. Um our district advisory meeting got postponed because of the threehour delay. So difficult for teachers to come when they're still teaching because we do have to extend. So I'll give you a um we're going to meet in March. So I'll give you an update about that. And then fog delays. I know that Norm talked um extensively about that, but uh the very first day that we had to close, you know, it doesn't it doesn't come lightly to make, you know, that decision. It's a really tough decision. And you know, it's been over 20 years since we had a closure. And it's been about 15 when we decided not to do the three hours anymore. So, we used to be the home of a three-hour fog away.

043And we went to that twohour. And who would have known that we would get, you know, fog like we did this day. But the very first day that we closed, we started preparing for just a three hours. So we went two, then we went three and then realizing that, you know, we weren't going to be able to do that. But we did not have schedules anymore of what that was going to look like. And uh our principles got together, scrambled, put together um their schedule. So now we actually have a schedule for threehour fog delays. I'm gonna, you know, knock on wood that we're not going to have those, but um really appreciate the leadership and the school sites to to get that done. Um and then the last two days that we actually had,

044you know, fog delays like said, the first day we went two hours, we went to three hours and I could see that sun, you know, was was poking through and so we just delayed our buses another half hour and Sure enough, that sun was out at 11:00. So, I'm really glad that you made that decision. But, thank you to MOT for making it happen. And thank you to Nor and Jonathan Martinez that are up at 5:30 driving our um attendance boundaries just to make >> Yes. Yes. Um and then uh projections for 2627. I'm going to go into that a little bit um deeper when we start talking about our our boundary plans. Um and then just a reminder we have another Monday holiday next week and then daylight savings March 8th and our next

045board meeting is March. Thank you. Five resignations and retirements. Do we have anybody in the room that's retiring? I'm looking at these retirements and we had a 41y year. We had a couple of 30-year teachers, several 2 year teachers. Um what a testament to um they must like working in this district. I love seeing that. I hate to see him go but wow 40 years. That's fantastic. Um 4.1 consent agenda. Do I have a motion to approve this consent agenda? Thank you. All in favor general business meet your up. What do we got? So this is just our touch point to let you know um reminder of those goals and actions that we set each year and it's already cap season. and team have been sending out the surveys as we gather data to prepare

046for our next use. But we're um providing you sorry providing you an update on the goals um and actions that we fund under each of those goals where we are to this point as far as our expenses. So we have some metrics that we look at. We look at task data. Um so that's that dashboard information. We look at the progress of our So remember our our goal for every single student no matter where they start is one week, right? It's our goal for everybody. Um we look at our reclassification rate and so this is just um a snapshot of the beginning of this new LCAP cycle that we're in the middle of and what that has looked like for the last couple of years and then you know where we are. obviously haven't yet

047taken the CASP for the 25 26 school year that will be beginning in April. Um but we do set goals based on what our students have how they've performed and we always set the goal to be that we are seeing growth. So that is outlined for you there. Those are all still in progress. Those are longer methods. Next slide please. Um and then as part of that the physical fitness testing is also part of that annual um state testing that we perform. So that is still in progress because we actually just started that te testing window for is like three months because it takes a long time to collect all that data for all the we'll have more information on those later. Some of the actions that we fund with the LCAP are our credentialed

048teacher tutors. We have instructional aids on sites to support that multi-tered system of support for students. Um being able to offer reduced class sizes. Um having intervention software. It's really our way to progress monitor our universal um benchmark data that we're using with students to to mark how they're performing in um both reading and math. It's a snapshot and helps us to track their progress and so what our budgeted expenditures are listed and then where we are as of our half year point might be slightly less than half at this point because I think this is as of the end of semester. So and then next slide please. Um we also fund our dean of students at the elementary sites that learning management system. Um so you know we use online portals to monitor and

049and communicate um and that costs. So, we fund that out of the OKAP and we also provide professional development for the multi-tered system of support. So, we also plan um some expenses around that. Um, condition of learning is goal two and that is really all about making sure that our staff are as highly qualified and trained so that they are able to provide what it is students need to succeed academically, social, emotionally. Some of the metrics that we look at are what you know what percentage of our st of our teachers excuse me not students are highly qualified or or fully credentialed in the assignment that they're in. That's Always our goal is that, you know, we want highly qualified folks that are credentialed. Um, so we look at miss assignments. That would be folks

050that are working outside of what they're, you know, qualified for. Um, we want to make sure that students have access to materials um that are the standards based materials um and that there's curriculum available for all students. It's not just our desire, but it's also the law. So, we monitor that. Um, we want to make sure that students are in facilities that are in good repair. We talked to you about that frequently. So, making sure that the environment is safe and healthy for them so that they can just focus on. Next slide, please. Um, we also look at the implementation of the state standards. Um, and we look at that through local data. So, we look at assessments that we use and classroom observations. visit campuses and watch instruction in action. Um, but our site

051principles also visit classrooms and monitor that that instruction that's happening based and it's standards based as well. We offer English language programs and services. Um, and then for our middle school students, we want to give them a broad course of study. So at the elementary site, you know, pretty set, but in the middle schools, we're able to offer electives and we know that that's really engaging. Um we also monitor um those unduplicated peoples. So those are students that are socioeconomically disadvantaged, students that are experiencing homelessness, the foster youth or our English language learners. um and making sure that we are monitoring their progress in addition to the progress of all students that we're really paying attention because the LCAP does outline there there need to be targeted additional supports for students that are in those

052at risk groups and then as well for our students that have exceptional needs like our students that have disabilities because we know that if they struggle we need to monitor a little more closely and offer some additional supports. Next slide, please. So, some of those actions are outlined there that we fund under go two. Um, that site intervention support. We have credentialed teacher tutors that you've heard a little about this evening. Um, we offer elementary PE teachers. Um, we provide professional development and we have instructional um we fund additional instructional materials and libraries. So, the sites have I think I'm so sorry. see that. I'll I'll look at that. I think that instructional materials may be missing a number under the budgeted expenditures. Um, but I will review that and I will email that out

053to you because I think that that column is incorrect. Um, making sure that sites have additional funding on top of what we provide as a district so they have some discretion for what they need at the site as well. Um, and then that extended library access. We put this in place years ago when we extended the amount of hours that our libraries were open so that all the schools had the extension of time and and it used to be based on enrollment. So some sites had less time with the librarian than others. um we offer supplemental English language development materials but also we're able to provide some translation support because we are seeing with that um and then as I talked about earlier that expansion of electives um you know we have added some courses

054that we purchase modules um that the the students then have access to and they get to learn about a wide variety of careers in that career exploration. Um and then we also provide to the sites the classroom instruction materials. So they have some discretionary fund that teachers are able to to purchase for their level and for their for their individual classrooms. And then goal three is all about engagement and climate. Next slide please. So we look at our engagement through a variety of metrics. We conduct surveys. We ask for their input. Um, we ask for input from students of exceptional needs as well as those unduplicated pupils. We report out to what parents have to say and what stakeholders have to say. We also um survey our students. We survey our staff. We survey the

055administrators. Um, we have specific groups that we meet with. We meet with the the district advisory committee, the English learner advisory committee or the DAC or the district English learner advisory committee. Our school site principles are meeting with their school site councils and their community teacher clubs so that we can get as many voices as possible to provide us some input on how are we doing what do we need to improve. Next slide please. We also monitor attendance rates um including chronic absenteeism and as you can see if you look at that trend line is going in the right direction for chronic absenteeism. Uh that is because of the the hard work that's been happening at all the school sites. Really making sure that school is a place where kids want to be and also

056working with and supporting families that that might have been a struggle with making sure that their kids come to school and we have some great resources and supports like our our school resource office that Crystal was mentioning earlier. >> Um okay, next slide please. Can I >> Oh, sorry. >> Interrupt there. I'm looking at this rate and um chronic absenteeism >> absentism. >> Um 1158471. Fantastic. I remember when first time I remember talking about 10% of the kids have a lot. >> Yes, >> I like seven but wow what a difference absolutely that is definitely um you know it takes a village and it definitely has been a village effort because it was also about retraining families when restrictions changed and and the ability to just excuse everything changed and really izing, you know, we

057can be at school. We need to be at school. So, that has taken a lot of work and um the school site teams have done a lot. So, have to thank them for that for those numbers for next. Okay. And then our suspension rate and expulsion rate remain low in this district. Um I I I just lost my train of thought. I attribute that to the hard work that the school sites are doing as well because you know we know there will be misbehaviors and they are addressed but we have a code of conduct. We have people that really understand that there will be misbehavior and we need to teach kids how to do differently the next time. So we've got a lot of support staff that work with work with the students that are

058maybe outside of you know like the behaviors are outside of what we'd like to So I I attribute our continuing uh low numbers to the hard work that is happening at the campuses. Um and then school safety is measured by that local climate survey. So the actions that we fund um under goal three for engagement are our truency program um that positive behavior support program um and those are happening at the school site. So that's different than the work that we're doing with uh Kim Breen that I mentioned earlier today that falls under our MTSS like professional development. But at the school site level they also have some opportunities to support students who are positively behaving behaving behaving. Um um so there there we do have some funds that are set aside to help with

059that because you know sometimes there are tangible incentives and sometimes there are non-tangible incentives that we use. Um we have the opportunity class and parent universities that that dollar amount is a little misleading. It doesn't mean that we have not had opportunities for parents to learn and work with us this year. Um, our social workers have already been conducting programs. Um, they just haven't been at a cost to the district for what we've been able to accomplish so far. >> Oh, perfect. Okay. So, they're coming. Okay. Okay. Yeah. We just had our first class last week or >> on the Should you go back on the positive behavior support programs? administrator at a school would say, "Well, I can think of some money that we can." So, because I see we haven't spent much. So,

060do we allocate that out or um >> So, the school sites have their individual budgets and they they are spending towards that probably looks very different. This is at the the district level. Um and our expenses have been pretty low because we um do figure a way to spend it at some point. >> Yeah, it's all based on um site allocation for the power of play. You've heard us talk about that before. That's like at recess and lunch. >> Grandson's favorite thing. >> Yes, it's a lot of kids favorite thing because they want to like play board games or they have structured activities and there's supervision. Um sometimes kids learn how to get along and take turns with others because they are playing a board game, you don't always get to win at school, like

061maybe what happens when you're not at school, right? So, um yeah, we we do support the sites through that. >> Uhhuh. Next slide, please. Um we also fund uh some of our school psychologists, our psychologist interns, our school social workers. So, this is all around that student support that you're seeing is is all about engagement. um our curriculum, our behavior intervention assistance, and those yard activity aids. So, it's all about engaging and wrapping around with support when kids need a little something extra. So, in closing, we are definitely uh working towards those goals and making sure that we're implementing the actions that we've outlined. will continue to do so so that we can help all all kids succeed. >> I've got a question on the money situation. Remind me how the LCAP funding happens. Are

062you pulling that out of our general funds, moving it to LCAP or is LCAP completely separate? So LCAP is part of our overall LCFF dollars that are coming to the district, but it's based on unduplicated. So unduplicated students, students that fall into socioeconomically disadvantage, um let's see free reduced lunch, foster students, um homeless, there there's a lot of categories that that generate that um English as a second language, some some different things there. Um and so that those that number of students generates how much money will come in health specific. >> The reason I'm asking is I'm I'm looking at that and our um social workers and that assistant behavior. Thank you. You know where I was going. Um are all funded through that. Is there any chance that money is going away? Is that

063you see that being level for several years? I mean, funding models change from time to time. Like there's not been any discussion about LCAP money going away. There's not been grumblings about it, you know, like with some programs, you always hear people say things like, "Oh, well, it lasts, you know, but with LCAP, I've never heard I've never >> When I when I saw those big numbers, $350,000, $375,000 in those columns." >> Yeah. So it's part of total dollar coming into the district. So last year I think it was $56 and then it as your as your you'll have some district that look vastly different with it money. There's a lot of different ways for us to fulfill this these obligations. And so like one of the one of the ways that we put a

064lot of things in place, especially with campus supervisors and security and cameras and a bunch of things that happened here happened by kind of making it an LCAP goal because it was recognized from our community as we split. So we use a little bit money. >> Thank you for clearing that up. Any other questions? >> It doesn't concern, but I just wanted to say I may have missed it. Did we ask for public comments? >> I missed it. I apologize. Thank you. >> And then I went back and I did find that the the goal two was 100,000. We spent $49,857. >> Yeah. So far. >> So instead of 10,000, it should have said 100,000. It was missing as >> thank you for that presentation. >> Moving on. 4.2.2 is the approval of the California

065Department of Education form J13A. We talked about that request for allowance of attendance due to emergency conditions. Can I have a motion? Thank you. And second that all in favor I motion carries. 2.3 is the approval of the request for catastrophic leave for certificated employ. All in favor 4.2.4 Four is the approval of the buying list dinner meeting a second. All in favor of the approval of the candidate selection for the 2026 ballot. >> Yes, >> it is an updated ballot from what was in your packet. So CSBA um contacted us today and they left somebody off of it so they updated it. Um but you want to you know discuss it. Um you probably know some things about these candidates. Yeah. And I recommend Robert Campbell Unified School District. Mr. Campbell was a teacher

066of mine when I was in high school. He was aletic and math teacher. very lovely man and he is constantly trying to serve his community forever. Um and then Pamela Jacobson the standard she is just outstanding. She's always participating. Um I can't speak about her, you know, Chris who is a delegate member. She's getting the paper a lot. And I I kind of know Maria, but not very. But I would I didn't that we support Robert Campbell and Jacobson for that. All in favor? Yes. >> We just need one of them. Thank you very much. >> 2.6 the presentation of the initial proposals for reopeners between the school district and the presentation is presentation proposal for district 2.8 presentation reoper school employees association chapter district 4.2.9 presentation of proposals for reopeners between school district employees

067association um do we need to see anything about that talk about that at all >> should be in your packet what the uh openers are and I would just like to say I'm I'm pleased that uh we have such a collaborative relationship with our unions and we kind of made a a joint decision to start this process a little bit earlier. Um so that our teachers can have uh our teacher and staff can have a active contract when we come back in August 2.10 Approval of statement protocols for addressing people behavior health concerns Senate Bill 153 a motion concerning that second. Thank you. All in favor? Thank you. Motion carries. First read of the following board policy on mental health. The approval of the following board policies 8049 requirements. >> Can you go back to

0684.2.11? Yes. No. No. We did. that is page I think 183 of all the pages that we've got and again my comments in the past about law versus policy just because there's a law to be in court or followed it doesn't necessarily mean that we have to have a polic I'm not going to vote for anything. you work on that page. I think it's right after the numbering in the pages. The sentence after that talks about instances where parents may not have to be and I just I won't be in the vote for that. I don't think we have to put that in there. If they have to do that, they have to do it. But I can't make a policy that If I remember reading that, um, you have the wording there in front

069of you. >> Was it was it >> a certain staff member would make the decision whether to inform the parent or not? >> I don't think I'm not even sure that a student 12 years of age or older may help that the student health profession is mature enough to participate in the service. Additionally, the student parent show the student unless yes unless the involvement of >> Yeah, we'll have to dig into that and talk about that. in my mind's being. >> Yeah. So, who do you have with you when you deal with that? Um but just to blanketly say that I understand there situation but that's right >> and you may have to I don't know I mean if the law says you have to do something that way but I'm not We'll we'll look

070at the policy a little bit deeper and I'll consult with Chris >> and if we have to bring it back again if there's any changes we'll do a first again be able to weigh on weigh in on this a little bit. Um that has to do with whoever is providing treatment for the child. So, how many people do we have on campus that are able to like diagnose and treat each other? You know, how many psychologists or whoever do we have on campus? So, we have five school social workers. Typically, they're the ones that are doing that with our students. Um, every campus has a school psychologist. Our school psychologist provide mental health services to students on IEPs. Our social workers provide services to students not well they could provide services to both IEPs and

071not but if it's dictated in their meal health services our school psychologist will do that. So 14 and I'm not I'm not sure that it's my experience school wouldn't be doing that social work our school social workers can also we do have some of our social workers who are licensed >> the 14 people the Thank you. >> Did we vote on >> I'm going to have questions on the following policies for A49 requirements concerning comprehensive safety plan, access to district records, responsive immigration enforcement, student records and release of directory information. >> So 4.2.12 and 13 I think just deal with both of all of those policies in two different ways. >> Right? So we have policy and then we have administrative regulations. So policy is basically the umbrella and administrative regulations is how we do

072it. So what we might consider here because two of them have an issue and I don't know can we approve the one that might be out but if we pull two out I don't know how we can do that but here's my concern >> I think you can do whatever you want And is it more concerns of the board policy or the >> well it's really with the idea a couple ideas and the first one is response to immigration >> and when I read that I don't know I'm sure you read it but we wrote that in the written are our law enforcement officers They are appointed. They are sworn to follow the constitution. I don't see them as advert. But if you have to do so, I'd rather that we want to help. We

073want to do what we can. These people aren't here. But I I just would rather see us write that in the affirmative so that they are helping violating the law. I just don't see that. I think we should table 4.2 and 4.2. And >> but there may be some within those that we could approve. You know, I don't want to hold you guys up. >> It's written all needed tonight. >> Assembly bill 49 says that we have to have these in place by >> and my last one was mold that overall. The last one is the release of directory information. It's toward the end of that in the last talks about somebody to come back later and say I want somebody who was a student now. I don't mind changing if somebody changes any of

074those things I don't mind changing it but I need I think it needs to be historically accurate so you could have two this person has now changed to this person but that needs to be reflected in our historical document so anybody ever came back later they would be able to see we were given a change we have to change that name or change that if something ever came up I wanted historical nowith but it should be documented in our document that now identified um you can take whichever ones that you know you don't have to you don't have to take them all you can take you know some of them it is the board policies that are supposed to be uploaded by March 1st. And you know, unfortunately, this is something that was approved uh

075January 1, but CSBA did not come up with their models until after our last board meeting. Um AR regulations um do not have to be uploaded. I I believe um because that's usually our choice of how to do. Just a little bit more information. I can say while I'm on that topic of disagreeing with the way they wrote this, we pay them the right policy. A lot of these policies that they've given us in a flood, they don't even accurately refer to our district. They're talking about 18 year olds. They if we're paying them for something, it should be specific to it's just confusing and you see through these policies it's the person's 18 years old the person's adult we're paying and they should have it tailored to my are we paying CSGA to write

076these policies these are model policies that they send to everybody body. So it's not specific. So we pay for the access into gamut is where they provide their core policies. One thing that we have talked about over the years and maybe it's a good time to start thinking about that, but having a um a committee, you know, an ad hoc committee to start going through um board policies and making some recommendations before we actually even bring it to the board. Um, some of our board policies are very out ofd and so one of our plans, Veronica and I were going to start working through some of the numbers. Let's start with the zeros and then the the 1000s. But, you know, having an adop might be a good idea. >> They have other information that's

077very useful and helpful and it's reports and studies. One of the recent ones and then I I went to I where I needed to misplac my iPad. So I was but it was very interesting to see how how is okay student but a teacher could use it too. teacher might use it and it just has and they had some really good examples of the useful parts of it but there's all kinds of system that I think All right, going back to 4.2.12. Um, approval of the following board policies for AB49 requirements. Um, I I agree with Gary on the sponsor. I can't vote against I trust our law enforcement to do the right thing. If there's any wording in there about our law enforce directory records. >> I read something >> student records. Yeah. So,

078we've got um now that it's, you know, electronic, it's a lot easier, but we have a lot of um old films that are stacked up at our explained a lot. >> I had this is we were talking earlier about teaching me my first grade teacher entirely forever. She called me stupid but I never would be anything. I would never turn out to be anybody and I failed the standardized test. I thought about that for the rest of my life. >> No, I have actually had a problem. um can approve um parts of them, all of them. You can direct us to, you know, like Gary said, go back and write it in a positive tone. Um you know, they're your policies. So, well, because it was a lot of So 2.1 but we can table

079Um, I would suggest that we vote yes on 0450 1340 and 512.1 I'd like to add to that we put together a committee and have it on have it on our schedule at next month board meeting that we are all in agreement that we can put together um and go over those and we can start with I like I like that idea about looking more often policy. So, I'd like a possibly amended motion for Well, I would amend that we just remove 1435 and off of that. I have a second for that motion. Thank you. All in favor? >> So, we'll um I'll get together with uh any of you that are interested in being on that committee and we review um at least those two. >> Thank you. Michael, then I would say the

080same thing. motion. I Gary, I appreciate your time and energy. Um, bring this stuff to our attention and I appreciate the entire board's time talking about it, thinking about it before we ever come across that. Veronica, did you get all that away? Thank you very much. >> 4.2.14 is the approval of the following exhibit for 49 requirement for release of directory information and why is that different included? An exhibit is usually a sample of what it would look like. So, you've got board policy and then you have administrative regulations and then you have an exhibit. Not all board policies do that, but there are some that do have exhibits. >> Um, is it connected? >> No, it's it's to the one that you approved on the release of directory. Oh, did I get that long?

081Records were okay. I thought we only pulled out two. Did you pull out three? >> I've got some. >> Yeah, that's that's what I thought you said. >> So, the exhibit goes with 5125.1. I think the student records are the is the one that they can change their student. This is the last >> time. >> All righty. 4.2.14 2.1 approval of the following exhibit requirements. I have a motion second >> I motion carries 42.15 is the approval of the 2026.7 academic calendar. So >> you haven't seen it yet. We'll start on the next. So, a couple of interesting things on the calendar is typically we start on a Wednesday. Um this year I'm uh proposing that we start on a Thursday um in order to get um our our both our classified and our certificated

082staff to meet their number of days so that they can get a paycheck in June because you actually have to work a day um in June in order to you know receive that paycheck. Um because Memorial Day is the last Monday of the month. Typically, it's the Monday before school ends and now it's the Monday after school ends. So, if we just push it by one day, then we can make sure that our certificated staff and classified staff have >> I love the thought you put into that and I know your teachers and staff will appreciate that. And yes, and I worked with both unions and uh we got some great feedback. We had some different options, but this was the best option. >> And I have a motion to approve that academic calendar. All

083in favor? Reports. No complaints. 4.2.17 is the second reading in approval of the following revised board policy transportation for teams with disabilities. I have a motion in favor. Motion carries and we want to talk about 14.18 is the followup for the boundary district proposal for the district. >> Yes. So just a a couple of slides that I want to show you after we did projections and I think last month when we were going through this we talked about how we had a little bit of time. We didn't have to go you know as as fast as we thought. Um next slide. So just kind of a you know background um the only thing that I added is that we reviewed the proposals at the January meeting. So it's just kind of a timeline of what

084we've done. And now this is our current and our projected enrollment. So if you look at the first two columns, we have our current enrollment as of January 19th and then our projected enrollment for January 26. And that is keeping in mind we don't know what PK and K are going to look like because you know unfortunately they don't tell us till we open the doors. But what I did is I kept it status quo. So I just rolled in the numbers of TK and K of what we had now. Um and then compare that to the boundary study for next year and the following year. So we're we're a little bit lower um than what the boundary study had projected. So uh my recommendation would be let's look at over the next year 26

08527 really get a feel on our boundaries. How many students are in those boundaries whether they ride the bus and let's wait and see if our enrollment picks up a little bit for 2627. So if we go any questions on >> this every single school decreases >> correct >> if that comes pass >> number go down 36 students Yeah. >> I agree. >> Yeah. >> I do have a couple of re recommendations though if we go to the next slide. So these were the same recommendations. Um but as I said now through the 26 27 school year let's begin collecting some data and really um understand what those trends are and then uh recommendation to app patriots enrollment. Um currently they're a little over 900. Um we could keep them at 900. I don't know

086what you know your thoughts are. Um we definitely don't want to move any students that are already there. Um but incoming students and my recommendation would be to cap them at 900. Um and then go ahead and start moving those TK students from Patriot to raise um since we are looking at doing that in the future. Right now we already overflow many of those students. So right there, that would take 40 students off of that campus and uh would help with some of the overcrowding. So those are two recommendations. If you are inclined to do that, I can bring it to the board as an agenda item next month. Any comments on that? >> So what happens if people show up? we will have to overflow them. So, we would overflow them uh to Roseville

087North would be our first choice. Um there is a lot of room in the classes at Rosville North, but we also have to keep in mind it's a much smaller school site. So, our other choice would be Almondell. So, we want to keep those students on the same side of the highway, but sometimes we have to overflow other places. But that would be >> an official meeting of the boundaries. But and how does it go first serve? How do we >> correct? >> Yeah. Can you take back one one slide? So as of now Patriots at 910 that's including that correct? >> Correct. If we take 40 students out of there and move into more um we're at 8 870. So we're definitely under 19. We're projecting to lose numbers. So that would hold Patriot

088under >> right >> I and we've got plenty of room at North for 40k students. >> We do have a another classroom that we could push in um because remember they're morning and afternoon we actually have um a classroom where they don't have a partner. So that would be the first that we would add um there and to try to keep those members steady because at Rosedale North our TK classes are very small. So we feel that the 40 if we open a fifth class we already have four at Rosedale North open that fifth class and then fill up the four classes that we have. So those classes are running at about 13 and we can actually go up to 24. What is the objective CK growing or >> that's a that's a I wish

089I had a magic ball or I could >> projection is that projection? >> Yeah, if you go back a couple of slides um James I have some they're skipped so you'll have to go into the presentation. Okay, so let's go down. It's uh seven. Well, that's real easy to see, right? So, that is our capacity. Um, you know what? It's on a different slide that we have. We're going to have to go back out again. I think it's the that green one right there. So these were the projections for the entire school and that was with moving TK to Rose Delmore. But of course these projections are 2829. So they're not going to hold but I can bring back um the TK number but those projections. have. You know what? I can pull it up

090and let you know real quick. Right now, >> you want to pull it up, too. You're going to try to beat me, huh? >> That is really That is good advice. I already got it. So right now we have 304 students in 2K and 505 in home. So just trying to keep that flat. Um you know this was the full implement implementation of TK but we don't know it's it's not mandatory so we don't know how many of those students you know were not coming to TK or parents did something differently. Um but we would hope that that number would roll back up to But looking at we do get a projection um from the state and this is kind of our middle projection is to be a little over 300 and that's >> I

091would love to have a big influx. >> Okay. Okay. Do >> you feel that 900 is a is a good number for Patriot? >> Um, I'm sure you all have read it comes up all the time. I think it's before we turn a lot of people's boundaries can be a touchy. >> Oh boy, >> you guys know that >> that's it for me. >> Thank you very much. Um, board member item 5.0. >> I want to give a shout out to member school. Thank you. Um, and I did write that before we would receive our uh, presentation on how difficult those tests are. Uh, which made me think um, I would love to see if any fellow board members would join me. I wrote a letter. about the difficulty of scenar I might be needing

092help because I don't know what to say. So okay well I will >> yes because really I don't know what is app that data from somebody like yourself. >> If some of you are in the room and don't fully understand what we're talking about couple months ago, they put some questions up off of the tests that our students take and asked us, "What grade level do you think?" And we all agreed, "Oh, that's second, third grade." No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We said that's fifth grade or sixth grade. >> I thought I was junior high. >> No, they said no. That's a second grade. I don't know, but we thought these questions were from upper grade level. They were think >> All right, we're going to move. Uh, I'll welcome any staff that wants to

093um give you some information and I'll send all that to you. >> Yes, please email me. Thank you. Yes, you can email me. And I I actually had superintendent and I saw Valerie retiring. It's a different Valerie. Yes. Okay. So, you can still help me. Yes. Please send it. >> She was gonna say no if it was you. >> Yes. Anybody's welcome to send me anything and I will I will do that. Thank you, President for that suggestion and thank you for your your whatever it's called accolades. Thank you. >> Um so the young man that was presenting to us Eli I believe is his name. Um Norm he asked for some things. He asked for permanent goalpost and lines. And I don't know if we can do permanent, but can you is there anything

094you can can do to get closer to what this young man would like to see? >> Yeah, we we can absolutely look into some stuff. Um the permanent goalposts. Um I actually have a couple right now. So of We have to work together with our site administration and work through some things. Um because while you want them to be there, then that makes that a soccer field pretty much exclusively. I know we have to smaller with a smaller size yard. You have to use them for a lot of different purposes. Hence the blow up instead of a permanent one. Things like that using it for a lot of different purposes. So really have to work together as a team to decide what there's some options. >> That makes sense. Thank you for letting me know

095that. And yes, between you and the administration at the school, whatever you can do, if anything happens, you put a bow on it from the board. We tried to get that get that through on him. >> Any other comments from the board? Thank you all for being here this evening. At this time, we're going to move into a
