So, >> yeah, but we are enjoying having >> But on the flip side, then we have every right to say we really like him. We really like it. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. And it just works seamlessly. And as you can see, these are big numbers. These are big projects. I'm sorry. 9.16 board approval of the TER architects contract exhibit A amendment. The administration recommends that the board approve the exhibited amendment to the contract with Teter Architect. We're actually going to um ask you to table that. Uh we got the um amendment this week and Bryce still has a couple things he just wants to talk about and to explain that. But the current contract that we have um in exhibit 8 it talks about the fee structure and that was really designed. The contract itself is good and solid. Then there's the fee structure and that was for the edge specs. You have to go through like said the different process of the
stages. That was for the initial stage. Now we're moving into the design process and so that has a different line items cost associated with it. Um so it will be an amendment to um exhibit A. And so just a couple of things to clarify. Was speaking to him today and he said I just just want to talk to them again and just so we all understand what these different lines mean. So >> do you need a motion to postpone it or >> I'm just move that All in favor? >> Nonaction items 10 blue teachers association. >> Okay. Second. All in favor? >> I I Item 10.1 teachers association. >> Good evening. Let me convey a few things to you. uh she regrets that she was not able to be here tonight along with the other
executive board members for the uh she is with them and at the WHO award that's whoo which is we honor our own an award process where uh teachers across the area are awarded recognition and she wanted me to bring to your attention that the people who are receiving awards tonight from our district are Brianna Jensen also known as Breezy from Pioneer for her dedication and creativity, her amazing events that she puts on in conjunction with the students and in regards to our student council which she is uh one of the leaders for. Another teacher that's being awarded a recognition tonight is Shanny Garcia from Bondale for her dedication and to ensure students are recognized for academic excellence throughout uh the county. And our final uh recognition is going to Espironza Flores for her continued dedication
to creating a healthy climate at Weaver Middle School through her leadership programs. Uh Miss Vin would also like to convey that over the last month, WEDA has been working to improve our relationships with both the district office and the board of trustees. We're hoping to have productive meetings as we have been doing recently and that our meetings with President Munoz and our district superintendent, Mr. Weber, have been going well and we appreciate the opportunity to speak with both of those individuals. Um, we're going to be working together to hopefully make things better for the students in our district and all those that reside in our stakeholders in our community. Uh, we appreciate this time and thank you for your attending. You can come back. We were middle school. All right, we're the last here getting
ready for graduation in the air. Uh we're currently at 142 Wildats. That's down one from last month. Uh we lost one in sixth grade, one in seventh grade, but we added one in eighth grade. Uh cast testing has been going really well. Tomorrow is our last official day of cast testing before we start um our makeups. Very proud of our teachers and students. It's been very nice. Um they've been working really hard. The teachers are happy. Um I like the system that we had. It's been really beneficial for the students to make sure they have the time they need to do their tests. Uh so we're excited to see the results. We're kind of hoping some eighth grade results come out before the end of the year so we can try to do something for
them before they leave. Um, our band has earned two honor awards at their last festivals. Um, they're doing a really great job. So, I I my son is in is in I've had two sons in band. I've never really understood how they score festivals, but I've been learning. So, honors is actually the top you can get. And to get an honors means that every one of the judges who was there gave your your band is superior. Um, so you're like the ultimate. So, Mr. Laredo and his band has gotten honors in the last two years. So, it's truly TRULY AMAZING. YEAH, I KNOW. LOTS OF trophies in there. I know Mr. Munos's daughter has been part of that band, too. So, I'm very thankful for that. Um, we there is there is the district concert
tomorrow night for Farmville Pioneer and our band will also be there at the end playing so that he can get some more kids. We're excited to continue on their journey. Um, we have our percussion and guard awards this Friday with the band concert on the 22nd. Um, we have a really cool opportunity that was presented to us. Um, Mrs. Bertram can talk a little more on it, but um, UC Merrced has a math academy over the summer. Um, so if you want to share a few things about the math academy. >> Sure. It's uh, it runs for four weeks and we can choose what we want um, the teacher to focus on for our students and we can look at um, which students we'd like to attend, but they try and make it fun. So,
a fun experience that's all about math and so they try and do ST activities. Uh they serve lots of food. One thing that's really popular, I've heard it's the buffet that they serve at lunch. Um the students tend to tend to love that. But we get to focus um the math instruction on areas that we want to focus on. So things like cast testing or front loading for next year, those are options that we can explore. And it sounds like a really promising activity. And this group also works out of Golden Valley. And so hopefully like some of that support system can lead us up to Golden Valley as well. And Livingston Middle School is already on board and they're seeing good results with it. Um and we get to we're going to pick a
target group which is probably going to be our bubble kids to start with to try to get them there. Um and get them to the extra fun math so that they learn. Um, eighth graders are working hard this week to get their grades all set for graduation. Grades are due Friday for eighth grade. All Miss Fortune was saying every eighth grader is like, "I got my grade up. I've got this. I've got it." So, they're very excited for graduation. Uh, sixth grade enjoyed a mental health awareness activity day last week and we also had a mental health fair for our seventh and eighth grade students during their lunch. Seventh grade is going to Exploratorium next week. Um, we are going to start something new next week. We have schedule time to meet with all sixth
and seventh graders to look at their schedule for next year. So, we're going to sit with each student, look at master schedule, make sure that they're what they want matches uh the schedule. So, when we click the button, we are accurate and um getting schedules out and making sure they have the electives that they didn't pick. So, uh IT will have a countywide graduation this year on the 22nd at Merced High School. Uh June 1st is our staff versus student softball game. So if you want to come by and see the competition. Um our teachers are collaborating to get ready for next year. And this year we're also collaborating ELA and history together so that they can work together to make sure they're both providing writing and reading that kind of go hand in hand
with each other. Uh we have lots of fun activities coming up with tricks to the water parks and theme parks. Greek Olympics are coming up for sixth grade. We are super super busy. Our calendars are crazy. and make sure to save the day for graduation on Tuesday. >> All right. Um, first just touching on uh what Mr. Daz shared about Miss Jensen, I want to give her a shout out um as well as Miss Dio. they've grown um you know they run our ASB and our student council but they've also added that leadership component and so they have two separate groups because the group is so large so almost every week they one group on Tuesday another group on Thursday and really just growing that leadership in our um at our school. So I just
want to give a shout out uh since she was recognized for that. Um so we finally burst that 1082 bubble and we're at 1085 this month. Our superpower of the month is listening. I do want to skip over valley championships because I do want to go back to that. Spend a little more time on that. We've had a lot of fun celebrating our marvelous staff last week and this week. You guys could please keep fifth grade in your thoughts. Fifth grade has not won any of the raffle prizes. >> Really hoping that one of them come through. Um we uh are finishing up testing. Uh some of our teachers have finished but we'll be done this Friday and then makeups are next week. Make sure you stop by tomorrow night farm be just like we
shared our district band concert and then stop by Friday as well because we have our multicultural uh event as well. Um this year uh Miss Sandra Lee and Miss Lamelly were able to bring another music program into our kinder uh which was to create tiny tunes. They've had a lot of fun. So they have their showcase next Wednesday at Farmdale and then we have our choir concert the next day. Just a lot of activities like Miss Spman said. Uh then we get into our staff versus students games next week. So we have our battle of books on Tuesday and then kickball on Wednesday. That'll be the first opportunity for our allstars to start getting ready for their big game against Martell. That'll be coming up on Friday, May 29th. I just want to remind everybody
that last year Pioneer did finally bring that trophy back home. Um then uh we do have some dress up days coming. We have our mental health awareness uh day that will be next Wednesday and we'll have some fun activities for our students there. And the next week we have our summer dress up summer body dress up days with that Wednesday we're celebrating our big field day. And like Mr. uh FPZ has said again um the events that our leadership uh leaders and our students have put on have just been absolutely amazing. So we're looking forward to that. Uh and then last week is school. Uh we have all of our celebration assemblies on Monday and Tuesday, fifth grade promotion Thursday, kinder and TK on Friday, and then for summer break. Um, but I do want
to go back up real quick uh back to Valley Championships. I want to thank uh just part of our LCAP and I think is 4.1 is the additional funds that go to extracurricular activities and the importance of extracurricular activities and the community that it builds. I I've talked a lot about our cross country and our track season and just what it's done for um our our staff and our students and when I go back to our community. So, just to highlight some of the things that happened, um, we had eight students, uh, at the elementary that went and competed. It's very difficult to kind of get all of our students there. It's been something I've been a part of since my own students or my own kids ran. Um, and you know, it's it's in
Madera and so it's usually a very early, so very late day. Unfortunately, this event was about two hours behind. Um, and so, you know, that's kind of what happens with track. either you're right on schedule or you're really far behind. Um so the the coaches and the supporters were some of them were there from about 7 in the morning to almost night at night >> um in Madera in the heat. Uh we had families there. One of our parents that's also a staff member um with our relay team. One of the boys wasn't going to have a ride. Mom didn't have the ability to get there. has a young child and so she was able to bring that student up so that they were still able to compete and if you flip to the back
of your package you'll see a picture of that team because they got first so it was that community coming together to make that happen. Um we we've had just stellar athletes this year. Uh we've had athletes at the elementary level that coach Deos Reyes has seen something special in and is really pushing them. Um we always have the support of our high school in the Woodings that are the coaches there always supporting. But there is one story I do want to highlight. Uh and it was one of our fifth grade runners. Uh she had qualified her name's Martina. Uh she had qualified for about 800 and 400. her first race. Again, you know, she was there early with her family. She wanted to be there to see other students compete. Um because our students have
really just kind of gotten into cheering everyone on whether it's from our school, whether it's from Farmdale, Weber, or other schools. Just looking at the way they encourage each other. Marina did not have a good first race. She had a horrible first race. Uh she, you know, was already two hours behind, so mentally she wasn't there. horrible race. She ended up finishing last turn. Um her, you know, what was told to me is that just her mentality wasn't there to begin with. They could see her shaking her head and again finished last year. He came back to the group uh very discouraged, was not going to race her last race. Uh just had enough, packed up her stuff. Coach Stats tried to convince her to go and to continue, but she just wasn't having it.
Uh, coach Taylor's race was able to catch her and just kind of give her one last pep talk before she left. She decided not to leave. Uh, she turned back around, went back, didn't say anything to anyone when she went back to the group, put her pink running shoes on, got first, >> came back. Everyone around that group, whether they were from our community or not, were cheering her on because they saw just the defeat and then the absolute adulation she had when she finished first mar. She packed up her stuff. I went home just like a boss. So, I just wanted to really highlight that story because, you know, the the additional funds that the district makes sure that goes into our extra activities produces community and produces stories like so I just wanted
to share that with you guys. Well, a lot of the events, same events, uh that are happening also at the other elementary. Um we are right now at 500 uh I'm sorry at 900 I wish are there. Uh so uh like everyone else we are in the middle of pass testing. Um we had our I Ready testing as well with our younger grades. Um there were some rally games prior to the testing that Miss B had worked out with uh with all the grades and uh everybody had a lot of fun with that. Uh we also uh we're doing our staff appreciation week. We want to thank all of our teachers. Just giving a shout out to everyone from our coaches who have been working super hard to get all the C testing and making
sure everything's running smoothly with the I ready and all of the tests that we're doing to our teachers who are just working so hard. I've been walking through the classes uh checking up on them with testing. Everyone is doing an amazing job. Um the school has respected everything that we've asked them like to stay quiet. They're making noise. They're testing. Everyone's doing an amazing job. So, I'm really proud of them. Um, again, all of our staff, not just our teachers, it's from our custodians, from our office ladies, from our nurses, our counselors have been there for all these students who are still going through traumas in between all this testing and then getting back again and going back in there to finish testing. So all of the people in there, Fox support who supports everything
that's going on. Um RVPs have been doing amazing job just keeping everything running just so that the school can continue because it is very stressful during testing time for many of the students. Um um I I was talking to one of our teachers today. uh routine has been broken, you know, because students are used to routines and right now with testing has caused a lot of issues that, you know, a student had to go home, you know, but they got back the next day and then they're back again at the test. So, so it's a lot going on, but the kids are doing amazing. I'm really proud of everything. Um, for uh kinder, we had our kinder uh TP kinder assessments. We had one earlier in April where parents come in, they're getting the students
tested. We're just trying to um see where they're at in placement. We have that tonight as well from 4 to 6 at Farmdale. Um we have our talent show that started audition started today. Uh so that'll be fun. We'll be finding out results at the end of the month in our during our um student of uh student of the month flag poll. And uh so we also have a band concert that's going to be going on for tomorrow that'll be at Farmville. So everyone's invited for that. Uh tomorrow also we have our lighting festival. Uh, Miss Shanny uh Garcia, she uh had asked me early in the year, hey, you know, I do this every year. I want to do the the writing festival. You know, we send in uh the information and we got
some great materials. Uh I saw the aids, you know, putting everything up. Uh but we are going to be having that tomorrow at 1:30 if you want to stop by so you can see some of the writing from the students. Uh also May 15th, we're going to be having our preschool culture night. Not my event. It's totally preschool. All I know is that a mom I don't know I don't want to say it wrong. I don't know if it's a mom cut or a mom's house, but I know that we're gonna have something tomorrow on our campus because it has to be delivered tomorrow. But um it'll be out there with all the events that they're going to be having. Uh but that'll be tomorrow. I mean, Friday the 15th from 3:30 to 8:30. Uh
next week, uh Miss uh Miss Gutierrez, one of our counselors, she has the week of career and trade spirits. So students will be able to come in dressed up on Monday as their favorite uh future, what they seems in the future. We're going to have a college color day, a dream uh Wednesday is going to be dream day, which is going to be a pajama day, so they can vape with their what they want to be in the future. Uh Thursday is going to be our bright future ahead. So they get to learn neon and then of course Friday it is our school color day. So that try to keep the fun the excitement still throughout throughout the testing time as well. U May 18th through the 27th that was that was the career day
but we're also going to be doing the the create tiny tunes uh that Mr. G was mentioning that we're having with our younger grades and that's going to be an event for the parents and that one was really fun because I got to go into the classroom into the TK classroom. And I got to, you know, listen to the kids playing and they got those little eggs with the I this is rice inside. I'm not really sure, but if you start to hear and they're, you know, they're making music. They have these scarves, you know, that they're throwing in the air. Um, and it was neat because a lot of the songs that they were singing were songs that I sang to my daughter when she was a baby. My son did a lot of,
but my daughter, she liked it. But, uh, but anyway, so the songs are beautiful. the kids started to sing. Uh they're walking like dinosaurs. It's It was just really neat. So, if you have a chance to come see that, that's going to be May 20th at 6 PM as well. So, you're welcome to come to that. Um again, our calendars are full. May 22nd, uh fourth grade rush, we got a whole school barbecue going on. We got parents day. That's just in one day. Uh then, uh we have also promotions. We're already working on all of that. working with fifth grade. Uh Miss Cecil, Miss Bowman are helping out getting all the decorations out there to make our stage look beautiful for the families and the students. And then uh we also have flag polls
uh for creativity. We have the kickball game tournaments that started on May 5th. And then we also have the Farmville versus Pioneer that's already coming up on May 29th. Um one thing that they are doing here at Farmdale is that the kids are practicing. So, these tournaments, they are practicing. They are doing really, really well. So, I can't wait for that day because I'm I know it's going to be a great day. Uh, so the end of the year events, a lot of stuff going on right now with uh the fifth grade. Uh, they just went to a Grizzlies game yesterday, which was really neat. It was kind of hot for them, but they really had a great time. Some students had never been to a Grizzlies game, and so when they were getting autographs,
oh my god, I was told that the kids were like, "Oh, I got an autograph." They were running up there trying to get autographs. So, they were super excited. So, that was a great game as well. The kids came back and I said, "How'd it go? How'd it go?" And they're like, "Okay, we're a little hot. A little hot, but we stay hydrated. I'm all good." You know, so they had lunch out there and everything, which is really neat. So, uh, a lot going on in all the schools, but that's pretty much. Thank you everyone. Thank you. >> All right. Just a couple things. you um there was interest in the retirement uh list what things could do that's on the website now we are working with retirees for soon to be retirees to have
them come in so so they can understand the process I'm really glad that they're doing this because I think it's a valid point we only do this once in our career it's not something we practice for um and so it's really not something we've had historically and so Kyle has put this together so that um you know they can see what to expect what they need to be thinking about um and know what process going to take place and the next thing is you are invited let me know if you'd like to go to this it'd be nice if you could let me know tomorrow because they want us RSVP and yes more than two of you can So, um, as long you know, you're not exacting business there. Uh Merced City School District is
hosting a local school district's municipalities developers collaboration meeting and kind of getting everybody in the room together 10:30 to 1:00 on May 19th just to talk about the impact that development has um on schools and talk about the role that municipalities play um and schools play in that process. So, I'm going to that. Lynn's going to that. Mark doesn't know it yet, but he's going to that >> on a calendar. >> Yes. Thank you. And then if any of you are interested in going, let me know tomorrow and I will make sure that I RSVP for you. Um, warehouse. Do we have Did you do the warehouse? Do you guys have packets? If so, I have a I have >> Well, you have additional if you want to bring yours, too. I think that was
the 3D stuff. Um, and it's not anything you're asking on tonight, but we've got the final design of what we're looking at. And it's I think it's 117,000 on this one. and 5,000 square ft. Um, in the past, I think each of those were about 900 square feet. So, we used to have a total of 1,800. So, it's getting quite a bit bigger. Um, and you know, when you take a look at it, 120,000, that's that's really good. I thought it was going to be a lot more expensive where it is going to get a lot more expensive is a big 500 plus or 5,000 plus square foot slab of concrete and running electricity and all those other site prep work that will go into it is going to add considerably. I think the cost
of the building is the cheapest part of the project. So, but we're still the next part of this now is um just getting the architect on board, working with the city, making sure that that all happens. The actual building takes about four to six weeks to get it put together. So, that happens pretty quickly. We've got some work to do before we um are at that phase where we really need to say, "Okay, start making the building." Yeah, >> that's an entirely different contractor. >> Yeah, that's who actually put the >> Yeah. >> Yes, actually. So, um we'll get the architect. There's also a third party person that has to come in um and do some soil work, take a look at the project. They has to kind of certify it. Um and then we
have to go out for bid for an or not an architect but a contractor because the building will come in piece they don't put it together it's a big erector set and so uh we'll need to get a contractor to do that. The nice thing is is that there's a group of people that they work with. So they kind of recommended make sure they know about this because they've built them before. Um, and so it's quicker and easier for them. They're not trying to figure out how to put this big metal building together. So that should be good. So >> can you use surve to make sure the land was important for the land to be extremely flat level? >> Yeah. Yeah. Y >> well what we do is we use the architect um we
make sure that we have whatever professionals you need to to get that done >> I have a question >> yes >> what is the shape >> oh so that's that's really exciting >> I knew it >> it is it's a mezzanine >> and yeah so that's 30 by 50. That's 1500 additional feet. We get we go up 9 ft and we buy 1500 square feet where we can put things that either are light or we don't use very often. The other exciting thing is that we're giving a a portion of this to food services. They used to have one of these warehouses as kind of their main place to put different dry products. They at one time had their freezer in there, but it's no longer operational. When we got the new walk-in at Pioneer,
the old one, it's built in panel sections. So, we were able to take the old one down and it's out here stacked in sections. And so when we build this, what Danielle wants to do with part of, you know, her section is rebuild that inside of building because now what happens is you build one and the city health department gets really kind of critical, does it have a roof structure and protect it from the elements? So indoors it will be um and that again is what's so neat about this messing is that she can use a corner. It doesn't take up the whole corner because we have a corner of space above her. >> Right. So >> does she have a need for that? >> Oh gosh. Yeah. >> After everything she still has a
need for >> she says it would be greatly helpful. Yeah. just additional >> shirt. >> Yeah, she can do bigger orders. >> Um I think the other thing that she really sees it as is also an emergency backup. >> So the unit goes down, >> then we can transfer stuff and not lose stuff and um not have to try to pack it in one the other. So yeah, if if you ask me four or five Um, the last thing I just wanted to say was that uh Marge's memorial here on Saturday was really neat. Really, really neat. Harry was there. Um, and just the old guard was out. the people that um were here when I got here, but were retiring and they still are a technic group. It was really neat neat to see
them. Um and they were here to honor her and the tree is planted. Um turns out we had to put it up by the uh baseball field. It was going to go here, but when they dug up the area, there were two pipes, two uh gas pipes. So we had to move it and so gas pipes. So it's out there. The bench was supposed to be here, but Darlene, her daughter, was actually doing the um Oh, what is it? Not the varnish. It is a clear coat epoxy layer on top. And it didn't cure well. It didn't have enough time. So, it'll come Friday hopefully. But it was a really, really neat event. Really neat event. Becker was there, Bruce was there, Dan was there, and just a handful of of guard teachers. >> Too
many to name, but it was really >> and they spoke. >> Thank you. and ask questions. I did not get the date of the event with the tiny >> tiny May 20th at 6 p.m. May 20th at 6.1 establishment date and location date is June 10th 2026 at 5:30 p.m. close session and 6:30 p.m. session at elementary school as well as June 186 at 2 p.m. ation conference item 12.1 meeting there no further business before the board president will call for a motion to adjourn the meeting in favor Yeah.
