Not bad. Okay, good evening everyone. We're going to reconvene open session to welcome everyone here today of the United States of America. and to the rep for it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all session comba or agenda items by law. 73 minutes to the broad government code 54952 and education code 545 the board cannot take any action or discuss topics or concern as an item on the board members Peter a great teacher in Pioneer Elementary School. I want to take a minute to give you a little timeline. So in 1975 I was in fifth grade and I was in California and when I end up in my principal's office I was sitting there and behind Mr. Brewer I still remember his name on the wall were two wooden paddles.

One had holes in it and one was cracked. These paddles were there for Mr. the rumor had previously used it in the past years. Discipline was allowed to take place in that format. When I got to this point, it was no longer being allowed. So, Mr. Brewer kept the house on Wall Street reminding the students that it was something that had happened. And as I went through school, there was a I got into high school, there was coach Parks and Coach Parks coached the football team in the wrestling team. He was a rather large man. And one day in the locker room, a student called him Parks. Hey Parks, I need blah blah blah. Coach Parks went grabbed a kid by his shirt and literally lit him up with one arm and pinned him against

the wall. He said is coach Parks or Mr. Parks. That's all. When he would walk through the bleachers at the beginning of the school year, all the students were sitting out on the bleachers and get baseball bat. He would rum it onto the aluminum bleachers and bring to the stadium. Today we have students now. We have students that are hitting teachers, fighting teachers, students are petting other teachers with implements. We have teachers that are being punched in the face, the stomach and kicked. The pendulum has swung all the way to the far side. Teachers were allowed in the past to hit or hold or restrain students and they were not questioned about this. We now have students that are assaulting adults. You argue these bus people and teachers dependent swing too far. It's time for

the pendant to swing back and it's up to you to make sure that happens. Thank you. members of ahead and continue with the agenda. Items the minutes of the October meeting. I just want to clarify that when I put the agenda together, excuse me, the minutes were not available. Susie does have those available now. Want to make sure everybody knows they were on email. They're also up there if you want a copy. Um, so I just wanted to be clear, but they are now in favor. 26. Make a motion to expel student 042526 for the remainder of the school year and suspend and to suspend the expulsion of the third trimester with stipulations upon their return under the condition that the student does independent studies until the third. All those in favor6 item 8.2 student

tracking number 5052526. I move that the board will expel student number 52526 for school. >> Second all those in favor ze item number 8.3 approval of contract of California teaching fellows foundation 2025 2026 is recommended that the board of trustes the contract teaching double salvation for the period of July 1st, 2025 through June 30th, 2026 in an amount not to exceed 1,229,825 to provide after school instructional and enrichment services funded through the LLP and ASUS categorical funds. second. >> Yeah, it's Mike can speak too because she runs that program >> just how they do last year. How are you feeling like they're performing? >> They are doing wonderful. I'm actually going to bring you guys to visit the whole team in the spring. Um, I just really want to give a shout out to ASET

and teaching fellows because they really grabbed our vision of not being two different programs but being the weird union school district and they actually say that um between the two entities um and right now we're servicing 600 students after school. Um I may get the figures very wrong because uh Farmville is about 275 uh Pioneers at about 250 260 and Weaver is at 88 and that's huge for a middle school. Um so we service about 600 students right now after school. We have 53 uh new teaching fellows staff. I just reported this out so like my numbers up about 53 teaching fellows and then also about a three to four NC staff that are leads. Um we do make sure that we have a little over staff to help support student behaviors uh and also

to maintain safety. Um so they're just doing wonderful and I'll be reporting that out in the spring. >> Okay. So how does a student decide which which uh entity those assets? >> Um so it is assets is our after school program teaching fellows is just the entity that we use to get the hiring and be able to hire. So it is ran through the assets program. So we follow their uh rules, restrictions and stipulations. It's open to all school district students and we have continuously enrollment. We just hired I think we had six on the weight list at both schools and they'll be getting in this coming week. >> I'll explain that a little bit more. We always had assets and it's through MOE through a grant for example. One thing that we knew is

as we were going into ping ahead with the LOP and trying to offer more that we were going to overwhelm them because they have the same problems with staffing as we do. You have to go back to hire, you know, they stay. Teaching fellows is a lot more. They have a lot more resources to get people in quickly. They rely a lot on college kids and so assets is still our main person. they kind of run the program. Um they're also excellent at tracking students and attendance and reports and all those things. So what we did was we we kept assets and we allowed them to keep up with additional help through um uh teaching fellows. Teaching fellows also does these and some districts all on their own. But but we like assets. We like

what they do. We like what they have to offer. But we know that they would have a hard time doing what 600 kicks. >> Yes. >> Um so you know we had to customize what we needed and it's working really. >> You may have already addressed this. How do the parents and or students become aware of? >> So we do a big open enrollment in April and in May we continuously share that information when they get enrolled. uh students uh the offices share that information as well. So we do pretty much some parent square um and it's actually each year has increased. I want to say last year we were barely at 500. So we've increased greatly in both elementary sites and of course we has grown greatly for junior high so California Teaching Fellows

Foundation October 2025 session. It is recommended that the board of trustees approve the contract with the California Teaching Towers Foundation for the period of October 1st, 2025 through October 31st, 2025 and a month not to exit exceed 67,2785 to provide instructional support, tutoring and enrichment services for the October session funded through expanded learning opportunities program and comments. Second discussion passes item 8.5 approval of contract with Girl Scouts out of Central California after school enrichment January through May 2026. It is recommended that the board of trust approve the contracts of girls out of central California for the period of January 1st 2026 through May 31st 2026 in the amount not to exceed $41,844 to provide after school enrichment program at school district size funded learning opportunities programs motion. I just want to jump in and have

Miss Lelly expand on >> I should get my report. I wasn't your report tonight. I did it. I put it. Um so what we're doing because uh we have the good foundation for the LP program from the district that meets the state uh guidelines is now we're ready to layer to give extra opportunities for our students. And so currently um we have the boys club working with the junior high volleyball club. Um, and so we actually have buses that we take them to, uh, you might have seen those flyers, uh, the junior high, uh, where we actually let them have be part of the volleyball team at Boys and Girls Club. Um, and now we're ready to expand at the elementaryaries. And so, Girl Scouts will be coming January through May, if you do this,

and they're going to be holding regular sessions and they'll have parent information um in the next couple weeks around November um to get parent kids signed that are in the ELO program. That's very exciting because as we're in the program, we're offering these additional opportunities. And so, roses will take place for the elementarymentaries on a minimum days. And then I'm in the talks right now with another entity that will be providing sports to our elementaryaries through the IL programs and then one more entity where we're going to actually work um to where they put on special camps that we bust the kids to like for skiing or zoo or creative arts. So it's a very exciting time that now we have a good foundation and now we're able to offer even more opportunities for our

students that are during this time. here with >> Girl Scouts comes with the the uniform. >> Yes. Outfit outfit badges, STEM activities. Um, so it's really exciting. Cookies actually have a question. I was here on campus last night actually for the carnival and I enjoyed it and I saw where the bus stops they had set up. They just need to call me. Everyone's calling me. >> I think they put my name on the bathroom with my phone number and suddenly everyone's calling me. So just call me my number. >> I'm concerned because yes, we are opportunity. So just call me. But the only thing is I don't know if Boy Scouts have the ELO program yet. Girl Scouts actually crafted it to be part of an ALP. So they already have this um set up

because they've done it in other schools. That's the only missing point. I don't know if Boy Scouts are quite there or not. I haven't dealt with them yet. >> I know that I ask the representatives why they were on campus here. But I was I didn't know. >> Yeah. That's interesting. Yeah. >> Item nominational items. Item 9.21 reports teachers association or Yeah. 92 Federation of Educational Employees at all. We're going the possible negotiations hoping that we got some good outcome sessions so we can are able to begin middle school principal. Happy to report that Mr. Smith is a wonderful eighth grade student at Weaver Middle School. >> Oh, she told you. >> All right. We were currently at 1,039 Wildcats. Here's our grade breakdown as of yesterday when I pulled 6th grade 331. we added

two. 73 362 we added one and eighth grade 346 we added two. Uh we had a great parent day on Monday night. It was a really great day. We had around 40 to 50 parents come to campus and spend the day with their child. Uh we also provided a presentation with our SRO about drugs and ventil's coming. He really wanted to show that there's not a lot of differences with that kind of candy to really be wear and what our students are being exposed to as well. They even showed us a Hot Cheetos bag that looks exactly the same. The only difference is the seal at the top. Yeah. So, yes, they're duplicating all that stuff. But it was a really great day. Mr. Smith had a great time in the eighth grade. So, you

can't go play basketball. We did have some parents go play basketball. Legend had a really great time. So, it was really good. Uh, boys volleyball and girls soccer is now in full swing. We won our first games yesterday against Winston. The boys finished volleyball in like 20 minutes. Uh, today, I'm not sure when I exactly did the second game. It was 2321. So, uh, we have lots of field trips going on. Seventh grade be taking groups to UC Merrced to utilize their running labs. Uh, CJF went to Scos today. is going to go to Fresno State next week. Um we have a harvest fest next week. Uh campus will be full of games and food trucks for students at the end of the day. So we'll be on a Monday schedule and then the end

of the day we'll have games and stuff around campus. Um and then we have partnered with Boys and Girls Club with their volleyball program. I do have the flyer in here. Um we have students going there two times a week to play and learn today because we have filled them up. We're going to add up six and that will be their bas. Uh, our kids love volleyball. Like they just love volleyball. Uh, next week is Red Bridget Week and we have spirit days all week. Monday is town day to hide from drugs. Tuesday, wear all white to save food to drugs. Wednesday, bright color day, blind and drugs. Thursday is PJ day, which the students are very excited for. Who's the drugs this week? They keep asking who's the champion. Friday, costume day, trick the

drugs, treat yourself right. Halloween dances this Friday. It will be a hauntingly good time. Uh, our pancake breakfast is this Saturday and so far we've sold over $18,000 in tickets. Do you have our estimate of where we're actually at today when I looked we're at $21,000 which is more than last year and we have less students. So they're super excited to go. Um, our band is headed to Franklin B. So we're going and Santa Cruz on the 18th. They swept all the middle schools at Pitman. They were there was four of them and I swept them all and they do sound really really great. You get an opportunity come see they Mr. Largo. Uh we are busy. >> I am your elementary school. All right. When asked for >> what did he add? >> Which

one is it? I said what did he ask? the whole night by all that came up. I dressed up and was all great showing the first and first two meets this year when he meets six of our fifth grade brothers medal. We will be able to use it this Friday. Hope you hope you're able to go. I'll be there. Uh and we are attending the schedule. Miss Des awesome awesome helper. Now to Mrs. Smith did host a book fair. They took us to another dance. That was pretty cool. Uh this year the book fair exceeded $5,000 which they will take in books. Thursday students won a book and our community showed flex hours on Wednesday the Thursday was pretty fast. On Friday, October 30th annual pumpkin patch. Thank you to our student council advisors. They

worked so hard volunteers and facial staff and everyone else that made this happen for our students. Be sure to come out tomorrow. It's our first annual trunk retreat for five to seven. All right, the next part is end of the trimester. Honoral celebrations will be held tomorrow. Celebration assemblies will be Fridays will be celebrated on Monday and school's prior. We will celebrate our students fourth and fifth grade for their achievement on the cast here on Monday October 13:00 and we will have parent teacher conference October 14th through the 16th. When we return, we will begin to complete a reading screen at first and second grade superpower that students are working on self control which is part of the story. What do you do when you feel like as as the Brown talks about in the

video? How do I control my actions? Soon the month will be for October will be November 7th day at school and celebration when we return. Don't forget >> to pause. calendar Spanish. Um, so at Farmville, um, we're, uh, doing our work also self-control. That's one of our words for the month. Um, we did our data tracks this month. I was very very surprised. I was surprised and impressed them enough. But our teachers really know their students. They really really do. And I love that there. I already had a few kids that we were looking at and they came and they had the same. Oh my gosh, you guys are already looking at the kids. So, uh our shout out to the reading coaches and sat with me through um all of the data checks with

our kids. Uh during our tests, we were able to figure out we needed some SST meetings for some of our students. needed intervention for some and some were already getting it. So, uh really really nice to sit with everybody. Uh we also uh did our L component test that's uh for our English learners and uh we did that last week. We'll be finding results um figuring finding out results on November when we come back. But that was just a practice one for the students. We'll then be taking care of those. Uh yesterday, last night we had a huge event. I saw Mr. Smith was here. I think Mr. Weber was here. Miss Spillman even came by. We had our VPs, you know, running around everywhere getting everything ready. But the big shout out here really

goes to Miss Diesel and Miss Stoman who really just put everything together. Uh, our maintenance crew was there early in the morning getting everything together. our parents came uh to support the kids because we had the the festival kind of the smaller portion of it was during the school for all of our kids. So all of our kids got to participate. So there was no child who was harassing uh that did not participate. So they didn't get to come at night. They did have fun during the late time. Um music decorations, it was just amazing. um over a thousand I I did say I like almost 1,500 pumpkins possibly that came in that were delivered by Hunter Farms. Uh they were laid out like Easter eggs everywhere and kids got to come and pick out

a pumpkin. So each and every child went home with a pumpkin. So um it was a wonderful event. I had attended it last year with my son but being part of it was I was in awe. I was just shocked at how much behind the scenes went went for this. But it was amazing. Uh there was a haunted house. You guys were here. We had a haunted bus. We had HR, we had business everybody. They had booths everywhere. It was amazing. Um so this uh Friday we have student of the month flag pole for our students. Um you guys would like to come to that. Uh but next week we have red ribbon red ribbon week and we also have a panel in the back for each day of that. Uh, Miss Vel, she's got

our live cre assembly going on uh for October 15th and that's going to be a drawing. So, somebody's going to come and the kids are bringing their little leafers and pads and everything. So, the whole school will be drawing. So, that'll be an event for them. Uh, we also have parent conferences coming up next week and health again also next week. So, you guys are all welcome to come to that platform on the 17th. Uh when we do come back on November 6, we are going to have a Veterans Day assembly and that's going to be ran by Miss Bowman and Miss Andrews who are bringing in our veterans and they're going to be doing an event out here on the 6th and we were going to do it on the 7th because that's um

but our fifth graders usually are the ones that run it. They're going to be at uh Chucky Zoo so we had to move it so that they could be here to enjoy that. And then uh thank you Miss uh Miss Robertson. She put in the information for cross country in here. And so our students uh met in Planata and in winter. And we have had some second and fourth graders students come home with medals. And this Friday will be in. And we are at 937 as looking. I actually like to make a little congratulate all of the Union School District on the celebration of Bridges. So of that all city school district my computer. So, um, first of all, can Jack, can you take this and hand these out for me? And this is just

an FYI on our partners. So, real quick, this is just an FYI community benefit plan approved by the board. We'll have an AR3P numbering change. The approved content remains 100% the same that you read. I made a mistake. I have put on as uh EP or AR 3290 but that is gifts grants and requests that's where the district receives uh gifts ours should have been BP 1325 that's where the district supports others so that policy will remain the same this will then move under what is already there in the exact same words form as you guys have it just puts it where it should belong. So nothing about the actual policy that you guys approve changes. It just continues to live where it belongs. So uh just want to let you know we're going to

start working on looking for a special education bus. They're in need of another one of the smaller buses for special ed students. So they have a lot of big buses but they don't really fit on the door to door type of routing that they need to do. Also they don't generally put 30 40 50 students on the buses. So um we can expect them now to be about $250,000 told me she was at uh in grand about $75,000 for buses. So things have changed. Um, you know this next part, but I want to just kind of make sure everybody in the public gets to hear our staff. The property is now ours. Next up, we're going to be working on the parking lot. Mark's already done regarding putting in some road base and just opening

it up and letting people park. I'm going to put signs in the beginning that say park your drummer because it's not going to be asphalt. It's not going to be lined. It's going to be gravel. But if you're me, I'm gonna love that gra park somewhere. So, uh, we are going to have the architects who are working with us on the new school. just take a look at I think I told you before we just want to make sure that when we plan for things that we don't make mistakes now and put a warehouse where it's going to get in our way in the future because that's a lot of money we're going to pump down for a warehouse so it should be somewhere that we want it to be 20 years from now. Um

then the possible house conversion at first we had all talked about just demolishing till we got inside. It's not nearly I mean it's outdated. It needs a lot but it bones you and so to do a new portable would cost us 325 350 350,000 nowadays. I think we can rehab that for $200,000 and we move our adults there that occupy portable and for $200,000 we're actually buying a portable back where we were middle school. So that's kind of what we're looking at. And then Mark is also getting bids on a van truck and a trailer. We talked to BAM and they think 24 feet is plenty. So he has connections out there and getting some bids and we're going to get this done and then the truck as well and we went to Nanto um

our mechanic and said what do you think what's the best brand because we knew what 3/4 ton diesel but then it's Ford or Ram or Chevy and he's given us some recommendations on um kitchen bin was hugely successful but there's a lot of times we do bin and we're hoping for more than one and three is all right. We've got some competition and we had 10 to 12 contractors. >> We've never seen anything like that and one of them. >> Yeah. One of the ones that I know um actually went to school here years ago. I won't name him but said things are kind of sparse out there right now and so everybody is looking for work. Fly came yesterday for a meeting just talked about campus parkway area. I'll update you probably nail just

a little bit. Um if you ever want to hear more about what's kind of going on out there come talk to me because there's a lot there. So now we're taking a lot of time our dam went into effect October 1st. Tomorrow I need to get out a note to all staff and let them know what that means. The main thing it means is we've done two things. We put it on paper that when and how they can leave early. Um so we're not wondering who gets to leave early, when and why. Um but the other thing is no more receipts for meals. We get an amount for the day, which by the way is probably about $20 more a day than it used to be. We haven't adjusted that meal amount since I think

I've been here. It's been $10 for breakfast since 2005, I think. Um, so that's increased. We make it easier. We don't have to take a look at when you're having breakfast dinner. None of that matters. There's money. So, I think that's great. And then we got to Halloween event at it was awesome. And that's all I have. So at this moment we're gonna conclude with open session. We will be going into a second session. So take a minute to Yes. So, hey Mark. severe limited under the condition. >> Yes. And she can come back and grab That's what they said. It was kind of like, >> but she's stable. I know this for sure. because you know I'm not doing the We didn't even know. and they see what they just Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah.

>> Yes. Hackers >> this year.
