All right, it is 5:30, so I'm going to call this meeting to order. Um, our first item is approval of the agenda. Is there a motion? I move the board of education approve the agenda for December 8th, 2025 is submitted. Do we have a second? >> I'll second. >> Thank you. [laughter] All in favor? I >> I I >> All right. Um the agenda is approved. Our next item is pledge of allegiance and I am and then we have student spotlight. So I'm really excited to welcome Kenyon. Um and I want to ask if you all might lead us in the pledge of allegiance. Turn around. Come on. Right hand. Turn your heart right. >> Ready? Begin. >> To the flag of the United States of America and to the for it stands nation. >>
Thank you. So, hello board members and members of cabinet. I want to thank you so much for having us here tonight um where we're featuring Kenyon students. We're truly honored to be here where we're spotlighting one of Kenyan's long-standing traditions, the winter performance. Um, so I remember when my own kiddos did that and they still live on in YouTube to this day. [laughter] Um, the winter performance provides students with the opportunity to perform a musical number to a packed standing room only gymnasium. Um, and I want to feature that we are lucky to also partner with the high school video production class. So this event is um in order for to have loved ones across the globe with a chance to view the performance as well. So those that can't get away. Um, tonight we're
providing you with a special sneak peek into next week's performance by having Miss Andrew, Miss Aby's AM class, and Miss Holly, and Miss Stacy's PM class perform their musical numbers for you. So, we're going to begin with Miss Andrew, Miss Abby, and their students where they'll be performing True Colors. >> Ready, my friends? See [music] you shin [singing and music] the monkey. for you. I see your true [music] [singing] [music] heart. That's why you don't [music] [singing] color. [music and singing] Great job to Miss Andrew, Miss Abby, and their students. We're gonna invite up Miss Holly, Miss Stacy, and their students to join Miss Andrea's class where they'll be performing See You Later Alligator Al together. It's being secret. Ready? In a heart fishing waving butterfly. Thank you again for having us. But as a
small sign of our gratitude, not only having us here, but also to thank each of you for all you do for Kenyon in the district, the students in Miss Holly, and Miss Stacy's class may do a special thank you card for each member of the board as well as for each member of cabinet. So, they're going to pass those out. >> Oh, thank you. >> [clears throat] [laughter] >> We're here. Can we get a picture? Thank you so much for being here. >> We are going to try to do one quick picture with the board and then I promise I'll get out of the way and then you can take a picture as well if you would like. >> We might need the little ones to come up forward just a little bit >> and
we need to be kind of together a little bit. No, it's okay. >> All right, everybody. Are you guys ready? You guys did such an amazing job. We're so proud of you. You did such a great job. >> These guys might want pictures. Everybody >> and grandma's grandmas, aunts, uncles, friends, everybody. >> Yies for coming tonight. Thank you for taking time out of your evening. We appreciate you. Happy holidays. Hope to see you at the big performance. Thank you. [laughter] Thanks everybody. Great job. >> Awesome job everybody. >> [laughter] >> Thanks everybody. >> Thank you so much. Our next item is to consider list. Do we have anyone signed up to speak this evening? No, we do not. Thank you. Moving on. Are we to board members, superintendent comments? Do we have any board member
comments? Okay, great. Just Dr. Peak, you're on. >> All right. I do have a couple comments. I wanted to just uh give the board a quick update about attributes of a graduate. As you know, we've been doing our work with uh Kyle Blakeley and Elsa Cortez. We've continued from the community survey that was sent out earlier this fall having focus groups and public meetings. Uh it's been with rich discussion. They continue to be collecting a lot of data and feedback. We realize that alumni are a little bit harder to corral to come together. So, what we're going to be doing is sending out a survey. So, if you know of alumni, once I have that link, I'll share that with you. I'm going to post it on our social media sites. We're hoping to get
some energy from our alumni for their feedback as well. The goal is to have a stakeholder committee form cross representative group. I think analogous to last year when we did a refresh with our mission, vision, core values. And um uh we will be inviting I think two of you. I don't know if we have that pinned down uh which two people are planning to do that but >> we have an we have an idea but we still need to >> more more conversation. Just know you're going to be invited and uh we know that um Dr. Kleiner and Mr. Gra were part of last year. So as you think about who might want to be a part of that, >> right? Uh so that's exciting and we're hopeful that by spring break or shortly thereafter
that um the committee will be able to present uh a draft of those attributes to the board and to cabinet. So looking forward to that. Um we continue with our work with master plan and work with CRP and as you're aware we have a work session next week so there'll be lots of information to be unpacked there. Um Dr. Mr. Aldridge, I want to just invite her to share a couple of updates on some teacher PD that's been uh that's happened recently. Uh first, I'd like to highlight Katie Moon. She presented on December 5th in Washington DC at the International Assembly at the National Council for the Social Studies Teachers. So those words don't really match the way I want them to, but um >> still sounds huge. >> It it does. And she did
a So she just presented about a course that uh she did some summer studies uh last year. She did a small PD for some staff last spring that were interested. So it's something that she's really passionate about. She's a high school teacher in the social studies department. and someone in the audience was a former CU Boulder professor and he now lives in Oregon and he came up to her afterward and said, "I had a lot of Shrine Mountain High School students and I just want to say thank you for preparing them so well for college." And so that the fact that Coast to Coast match with us, I thought was really neat and compliments to our high school staff. uh Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before Thanksgiving, I was with 15 uh ELA teacher, English
language arts teachers, a hand from from the high school, three from the junior high, two from Pinion Broadmar, and then Stephanie Callaway. We were all at the national teachers uh or sorry national council of teachers of English cons conf conference uh and while everyone else was starting their Thanksgiving break we were among 8,000 of our greatest friends downtown Denver and I am thrilled to share their enthusiasm for just being at a professional conference. There was a post that I um put up I think it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving break had started and they were just so thrilled that the district supported ongoing professional development and it was only through our title PD money that we were able to make that happen. And I am meeting with them in January to see what our next
phase of work is similar to what we did with math last year. Speaking of math, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics National Conference is next October and the self-named Math Mafia that I took to Baltimore last year is really eager to return and have their reunion and continue their work. Uh I'm starting a book study in January that'll last a couple years about how we can uh continue to align math practices in the district. So there's still momentum. It I as my mentor said, when you hire smart people, they just fuel your engine to keep the momentum going. So I'm happy to report that people still love their jobs. >> Okay, that's great. It's always good to hear. There's so many things that we work on. It's always good to hear that we're we're
still focusing on those basics, right? [laughter] >> Yes. Thank you. Uh, also I just wanted to remind the board we have finals coming up for the end of first semester next week for our secondary campuses. Uh, big shout out for a successful craft fair at the high school. That was a lot of fun. It's hard to go in there and not walk out with at least one or two purchased items. So, um, guilty is charged. Uh we have the district faculty art show and the high school holiday choir concert tomorrow. So if you get a chance and can come by to see some incredible artwork. I think some pieces are for sale as well. And of course the coral concert tomorrow evening should be a hit. And then because of our couple of snow days,
we've rescheduled for the junior high school combined holiday band concert December 16. So next week before we go on to break. I did want to give a shout out to our brand new Shy Mount High School girls wrestling team. We've got about 20 girls out and a lot of enthusiasm. It's very exciting for inaugural season. And then of course, you know, we have CASBY uh conference that starts this Thursday. So, we'll be busy Thursday through Saturday at the Broadmore. And um finally, I wanted just to share with you that we did uh today post for Linda Henderson's position to be the new principal starting next year for Broadmore Elementary. And just a shout out to Miss Henderson for all of her years of service and leadership in the district. She will certainly be missed. She
is an exemplary principal to say the least. So we've had a great fortune of having her for so many years in the district. So uh we're excited about that. we post today. The position will close on January 23rd. We'll uh hopefully by the Feb 23rd board meeting, we'll have a recommendation to you. So stay tuned. More to come. Uh if Mr. Paw hasn't reached out, he will be seeking a couple of you if you have some interest in helping with the preliminary round of interviews for feedback. So that's it. Thank you. >> Thank you. Our next item is approval of consent agenda. Do we have a motion? >> I move board of education approve the consent agenda for December 8th, 2025 as submitted. And a second. >> A second. >> Thank you. And all in
favor? >> I. All right. Motion passes. Thank you. Our now on to new business. Our first item of new business is presentation of fiscal year 2025 independent financial audit. >> And of course, Jesse is joining us tonight. You all remember Jess. She's been our for years now. >> I have passed out all the documentation. >> Thank you guys for having me. Facebook. [laughter] So cute. Okay. Um so I'm going to present the summary that um Natalie gave you. It's just a couple of pages. Um so um again my name is Jesse Cybert. I'm the audit one of the audit managers at Holene Company and we've been auditing Shine Mountain I think now for five six years something like that. So um we started so first things first and bottom line we gave an unmodified or
otherwise known as a clean opinion for this year's audit for the June 30th 25 audit same as last year um we come we come in on in the fall and normally for school districts we usually will do like an interim week where we come test controls and then we come back for field work later in the fall. Um, but it's always tough because in June that's when you guys are hiring and doing all the stuff. So, or July. So, um, last couple years we've just come in the fall and we have been able to just knock everything out because Natalie and her team are just they're on it. They're ready. They got everything ready for us. So, we appreciate that. Um, we design our we test those C we do our test of controls and
then we design our audit plan based on the results of those tests. Um and all controls appear to be welldesigned and operating effectively. They did not identify any deficiencies in internal control. Um overall financial condition of the district is strong and financial statements are presented fairly in all material respects which again is just a modified reclaiming that we gave. Um we do two different the financial statements are presented in two different formats. The governmentwide and the fund statement format. the governmentwide um well the fund statements is kind of how the district operates on a day-to-day basis and it's also what the budgets are based on and then the governmentwide combines any capital assets or long-term debt and they are presented on the acral on the full acral basis. Um number three, item number three is
the statement and opposition and that's basically the balance sheet for the governmentwide presentation. And we just do a comparison from this year to last year. And a couple significant changes to note is that unrestricted assets are up 4 and a.5%. Deferred outflows are down 34%. and um deferred outflows and deferred inflows that has to do with the pension liability, the pension liabilities. Uh that last year it it went up way up this year it went way down. So and that's just based those changes are based on that those actuarial reports and assumptions made there. Uh the liabilities are down 7%. Uh the pension liability the district's pension liability is down 8.7 million. last year went up 15 million. So it it just kind of goes up and down. Uh the OPAD liability was down 700,000
this year compared to last year. Net position overall was up 63%. And that was an increase of 5.7 million. Uh one thing that I want to point out this year, um the district was required to adopt Gazsby the standard Gazsby 101 has to do with compensated absences. So the district's PTO vacation cycle uh what the standard says is that now we used to we used to calculate it based on the district's policy. So if they said that they could roll you know employees could roll over however many hours and they pay out at a certain rate we would calculate it based on that. Now they're saying that we have to take whatever the whatever each employer can roll over and then multiply it by their daily hourly rate. however, however it's calculated. Um, and then
we had to do we also had to last year so we had to do a prior period adjustment um to put to put that in place. It was a $3 million prior period adjustment but it isn't an error. It is just an adoption of a new standard and that's I just want to just note that too. Also one other thing I want to note um normally the financial statements we present single audit which is our compliance audit of federal monies and because of the shutdown and the compliance supplement it wasn't they hadn't finalized it so we finalized the financial statements but we will be reporting on the single audit separately once it just got finalized at the end of November I think and it takes a little while for all of our compliance software to
get updated So, we'll we'll submit that or report on that separately this year. Um, item number four takes a look at the general fund. Um, unassigned fund fund balance decreased slightly about 200,000 this year. Um, and one of the things that we calculate here is just the percent of fund balance to expenditures. And what that's calculating is the approximate number of days that expenditures can be covered by by the unassigned fund balance. And it went from 147 to 136. That's a really strong ratio for any district. We usually see about 90 to 120 days. So, it's a strong ratio. Uh long-term debt, uh just the general obligation bonds that the district has, those went down 2.6 million in accordance with the payment schedule during the year. Um a couple item number six looks like changes
and balances for all the funds. Um, a couple of things to note here, um, is that the general fund balance was down 103,000. Revenues and expenditures both increased by 3 million this year compared to last year. Um, the debt service fund increased by 1.4 million and the capital projects fund increased by 1.2 during the year. Um, internal controls, we talked about that at the beginning. That's what we where we test. We initially start with testing internal controls and again we didn't find any deficiencies in internal controls um and then the board letters that we send out um [clears throat] I will send those to Natalie and she can pass send those off to you but basically it's just our communication to you regarding the audit and then also to let you know there weren't any
deficiencies in controls. Uh the federal boards that's the single audit uh that I said we'll we'll be reporting on separately. We tested the sped um [clears throat] the sped sped monies this year and there weren't any compliance findings there. Um we just have to wait for that to be finalized in order. We can't report on it until it has been. >> Um last but definitely not least, again, we just really enjoy working with Natalie and her team. They're wonderful. I know that it's a pain when we come in and because they're still trying to do their jobs and we're like, "Hey, we need this. We need this." So, and they're they're always so kind and they're always willing to help and get us everything we need in order to get it done. So, we really
appreciate that. We really appreciate that. >> She's always she's always laughing. She's like, "Hey, it um does anybody have any questions on anything?" >> Questions? Thank you very much. Enjoy the holiday. >> Have a good night. >> All right. So, there is a motion at the bottom of the second page of our agenda. >> That the board of education acknowledge receipt of the fiscal year 2025 audit conducted by company incorporated. >> Second. Thank you. All in favor? I >> I um the next item is certification 2026. So um Natalie in your packet I believe is the resolution that we are uh bringing forward to certify the mills. But I'm pressing around just to show our calculation breaks out. it might make a little bit more sense um to walk the calculation works. Um so box
one shows what last year's assessed valuation was compared to what this year's assessed valuation was. So you'll see that's about a 15.75% increase over last year. Number the box number two which is a mirror of what's in your packet to approve tonight shows the breakdown. Um the first thing is the general mill at 27 mills. We don't have any control over that. That's set by the state, frozen by the state and that's a portion of what pays for our our school finance act. So that that portion in total our total program funding with the state's about 40 million. So about 16.7 million of that comes from from this mill from this levy and then the rest is backfilled by the state. The next one shows the abatement. Um, we also have no control over that.
So, those first two line items, we have no control. Those are just set for us. It's the next two that we have to set here tonight. Um, first one is the the bond redemption fund and we want to set that at 8.04 mills which will bring us in just 4.9 million and that's just below the max of what we can do for the debt service fund. The next is the mill levy which comes in at 19.893 mills which brings us to a total of 55 mills. We've assessed 55 mills since 2017 when the voters approved us to remove the mil levy cap. Um it removes the cap but we still have restrictions and guidelines on how much we can levy. We can't go above the 25% of total program funding. So, that still puts us
underneath our our cap of 25% uh total program funding with backing into that and then keeping it at the 55 mills. Why it's important for us to keep it at the 55 mills is for future planning for bonds. At some point, the district's going to have to go for a bond, whether it's next year, the year after, or whatever. By setting the mill the same and keep them at 55 as we have since 2017, that helps us um put a little bit extra in our bond fund that can only be used for debt service. Once it's there, it just is there for debt service. It can pay future debt service, which means we can um when we go to the voters for a bond sometime in the future, we may not have to ask for
as much increase in mills. And it's not that we have to ask for the increase, it's just that what we're selling what we're selling our voters. Does it sound better to say we're going to increase by two mills for maybe a $60 million project or three mills for a $60 million project? So that is keeping that lower and kind of sets us in a much better financial position when we do decide to do that and to move forward with that. Um actually that's any questions with that? That has stayed that 55 mills has stayed the same ever since 2017. and any questions that I can answer for you too. I know it's a little [laughter] that a lot [clears throat] I feel very familiar with this. [laughter] >> So if there aren't any questions um
you can just approve the the resolution. I move that the board of education certify by resolution the following for taxes to be collected in 2026. a general fund levy of 27 mills, an override levy of 19.893 mills, and an abatement levy of 0.067 mills for a total general fund levy of 49.96 mills. And I further move that the board of education certify by resolution a bond redemption fund levy of 8.04 mills for a total certified mill levy of 55.0 mills. I think you said 40. >> Oh, 49.96. >> 46.96. Sorry, I had a long call weekend. [laughter] >> 46.96. No. And do we have a second? >> I'll second. >> Thank you. All in favor? I >> I All right, it is set. Our next item is discussion regarding the certified October 1st student. So
we have just finalized all of our student October one student count information. As you know that's the single most important thing is it dictates our funding through the state. um happy to to see that we've increased our FTE by 20 this year. So, we actually budgeted for a flat enrollment and we actually came up 20 higher than that. Um the first sheet just kind of breaks it down by school. You can see the previous year's funded count to the current year. Um camp was the only elementary that decreased and that was expected. >> [clears throat] >> Gold Camp um ever since we had closed Canyon down has been a three- round school. Um since the count started to decrease, we've actually reduced kindergarten and first grade down to two rounds. The rest are three rounds.
So we actually already had reduced staffing at Gold Camp in anticipation for that count coming down. But you'll see all the other elementaryaries actually grew by by a little bit. So overall total elementary were up by 29 students. Junior high [clears throat] was our big surprise as I look at this. Um we were anticipating this number to be close to last year, a little bit over 600, but somewhere in August we just ended up with a lot of withdrawals that we weren't anticipating. Um a lot of people that were had applied and planning on coming didn't show up. So between that, we were down 25. And quite honestly, we took all of we took most of all the new applications that came in. So it's not as though we had denied people. We took them
all. It's just a lot of them didn't come when August actually rolled around. So that's a count and a number that we're looking at. We're paying really close attention to going into next year for sure. The high school increased by 11. [clears throat] So in total um before we get to Zep Pike, we've increased by 15 with just those schools. And then when we factor in Zeike, sometimes I leave that out a little bit. We do get that funding, but that funding and those expenditures are all shared by all the other districts, but overall we increased by by 20 students. Um the next page just is the same information but shows you by grade. So if you want to see, one of the numbers we were worried about was kindergarten because last year that had
dropped by uh quite a bit and you'll see that bounce back a little bit. We actually increased by 16 kindergarteners this year. So, so that's um that's hopeful that next year we'll see that continue. Um the first grade number is down 18 and that's the class that was kind of the first low kindergarten class that we had. So that's why that one's low. But you can see how they how they fluctuate when you go um for example kindergarten last year was 194. This year we grew a little bit and had 203. Last year first grade was 221. This year that's those are second graders. They're now 241. So you can see how those counts have progressed. Um, and this this sheet just breaks it out by grade. It's the exact same information, but kind of
gives you an idea of where we're at with with grades. Um, the third sheet is just a snapshot of how it looks at all the schools. If you want to see across the board um broad compared to CME by grade or by total, you can see see it on this sheet here. And that's the final count. And then the next page is just preschool. I back out preschool now that they're not funded at all by the state. So that's now funded through universal pre preschool. So because those are funded differently, I don't have them at this count, but I wanted to see how we were doing with numbers at Canyon. And this year we were just we were down a little bit with four. So we decreased about 14 students this year at Canyon. So
how does this all play out for budget? That's the next year. This is what this all leads up to. So in January, I will bring to you a revised budget for the 25 26 year and I'll incorporate the new funding into that. So because our count increased by 20 20 students from what we were budgeting, we're actually going to see an increase in our revenue of just over $97,000. So that will be helpful. I'm not anticipating any additional expenditures in the budget. I really think that's going to stay the same as what you received last June. But we will see an increase in the revenue. So that will just help to offset um the deficit that we have budgeted currently. So no big surprises with the budget when I bring it to you in January
other than I'm assuming our deficit's going to decrease because of the additional revenue. Hey Natalie, um you note on this page um a four-year averaging which used to be five-year averaging. Would you mind just refreshing our memory on um how the averaging works? >> Yes. and where we see this going. >> Um the averaging is a great thing that they built into the school finance act because when districts lose kids um you don't really know and can plan for it. You find out October 1st. So you maybe you're down 20 kids October 1st, but you already have all of your teachers under contract, your staffing under contract, your kids in classrooms. You can't make any changes, especially since that never comes into with one class. It's not like all of the third grade class at
Gold Camp. It's like two kids here, three kids there, four kids there. So, you really can't do anything with your expenditures, but you're down 30 kids times $10,000 or whatever your PPR is. So, that's a huge hit to districts. So, the averaging is where they the state will automatically average your count for the first year. That's higher. That's fine. Two-year averaging, threeear averaging, or four year averaging. they'll take whichever number is the highest and that's what your funding ends up being. So if you look at the green column on here um our preliminary budget we were we were estimating 3,62 students but because at that point we were still in averaging I was anticipating that we would have been funded for 3,611 students. Now with this increase of 20 students this year will be out
of averaging for right now. Um and that's hopefully our number will steady and continue to or continue to grow because that averaging piece is a big contention in the school finance act and next year I think they plan it to come down to threeyear. There's always an argument of taking it down even further than that because some people see that as funding what they call phantom students. us districts see it as just giving us a lifeline because we can't do anything when we're down 30 kids right off the bat and [clears throat] our budgets have to stay the same. Um, does that help does that answer your question? >> Thank you. I think that's helpful. >> Um, and as we start into these conversations with next year's school finance act, we'll talk a lot about
how that averaging might affect us in the future and if that's going to change for next year with the school finance act. Yeah, there was a threat this um past legislative session um of getting rid of averaging just suddenly altogether and we we had had five-year averaging. >> Yes. >> And so that was that was something that um the delegates went and lobbied about um and I was delegated for our districts at that time because that can be very painful. But we lucked out when we have a few more students. We did we did luck out. But I I am a big proponent of averaging even regardless if it helps us or not. I just think districts just can't afford >> the loss at any given time like that. >> Smaller districts especially can be
impacted even greater from one year to the next with such a swing. >> Y um any question further questions on count? Okay. So the next item is policy review and revision second reading. See you. >> We have two. We brought these forward brought these forward to you for first reads in our at our November meeting and uh there's really no substantive change. The first is if you recall Greg had talked through just the components of uh collapsing which are for third reads um retiring rather a handful of policies that are rather outdated and so introducing the new EHCA social media and websites. So I know that Greg would be available if you have any questions associated with that particular policy. There were no recommendations from our first read to make any changes with that. So
this still stands as was presented as first street. >> Any questions on [clears throat] >> Okay. And then the second is IKF graduation requirements and I know uh Dr. Aldridge also walked through um some of those changes with us and the only recommendation from November's discussion on this particular policy was uh but not limited to as part of just under the coursework completed in middle school just to make sure inclusive thing I smell that came from you. Um and the at the bottom of that um first page we changed it the spring semester of your senior year to the last semester of their senior year. >> Oh, correct. >> Every once in a while. >> Yep. >> We have an early one. >> That's right. Thank you. Yes. Which is noted here. >> And any
questions for IPF beyond those? >> No questions. >> Set for the second read. So third reads we have I >> again no changes for these we've gone through the two previous reads and uh nothing has changed as presented in essence requesting the retirement of four or five with the uh changes recommended for JIF service animals the other four to be retired so we need a recommendation on that if unless there's any other questions. And it's you can always ask questions about these even if it's a third read. So just be aware. So do we have a motion? I move that the board of education adopt provisions for policy JIF, service animals and retire policies uh 2AC, media center material selection adoption policy 2, access toworked information resources policy JN DB uh school website publishing and
policy JDBR B-R school website publishing and procedures upon their readings. Second. Thank you. All in favor? >> I I >> I All right. Those policies are adopted and retired as the first meeting and oh is set and meeting. >> Correct. So again, CASBY annual convention starts this Thursday. Um I think uh as well sent out a little reminder about the friendly app. [laughter] >> So if you haven't downloaded the app, please do so. Generally um we have in typical fashion. It's uh mostly in the Broadmore I think it's the Broadmore Hall and the in just next to the big Blandin Hall and then the international center. that main broadmore hall. Uh if you come in the back door, so this is more for Dr. Leman and Miss. If you come in through the back doors,
if you go um to the far right, go toward the front, that's probably where we'll be sitting. So >> big crowded general session right. >> So we try to save some seats so we can all sit together and just get everything started for the day. Um, we do have I think some things we can talk about more detail I guess when we when we get together through the course of the it's basically two and a half days all day Thursday, all day Friday. Thursday there's a evening function. Saturday starts a little bit earlier because we'll be meeting with kids so we're in the morning or about the same time I guess. Uh, and then Saturday at the end we congregate together for a quick bite before breaking for the weekend. So, >> yes. And I'm
sorry to say that I I may not be able to make it to our lunch for very long. Um because the CASBY board hasn't lunch at the same time. >> Perfect. >> Unless something happens at the meeting, I seem to be unopposed for a spot on the Casper. [laughter] >> That's exact. Uh so we'll just we'll stay in communication through the WOWA app and look for us up on that front right side. Uh in typical fashion um I invite uh have invited in the past Dr. Aldridge and Dr. Ste and now Dr. Pio. So Dr. Potty and Dr. Aldridge may come to a few Asian I know Miss Warren and Mr. Miller have come to certain breakout sessions or for functions that are outside of the conference schedule too. So they'll kind of come and
go, but you'll see me for the whole enchilada. So I'll be there for the whole time to be with you and we'll go to some different sessions. Um, any other questions about upcoming casting convention? >> Um, parking is a little a little crazy. So, if you have a good spot to park, [laughter] >> people can park at my house. >> I shamelessly reach out to Ross Ross. >> He's about a block. Uh we do have a work session then a week from tonight and as briefly referenced in my comments we will have Dusty Black from Weber joining us and and also our folks from CRP architects and so um they'll be going through the full master plan with us and talking through kind of a what they would see as prioritization and estim estimated costs.
Natalie and I are meeting with them tomorrow, I think. So, we're kind of going through a first look um before things get presented to you at the work session on Monday. And uh so that there will be rich discussion and a lot of learning about just uh what folks are seeing um from their lens about our our facilities and capital needs. Yeah. Anything else on that? >> Uh then we also recall we we meet right after winter break again for another kind of special work session. Sorry it's a little on top of each other and there's actually two. So, we are having um folks from CASBY come to do an afternoon session and we're hoping that this can work out for everybody's schedule on Monday, January 5th between 1:30 and 4:30 and we will be
here and it will be just with me with the board with some folks from CASP and Susan and I have been working on a bit of an agenda. We'll try to get that finalized and um share with you kind of high level some of those pieces. But this um quite frankly when when Dr. Prime, Mr. came on the board, Susan and I did some things to kind of meet with each of them, but we never really went through kind of bonafide orientation. So it's been kind of baptism by fire. So we thought now that we're outnumbered four to one or four to two, it would [clears throat] be healthy for us just to regground on just putting those uh important expectations and considerations about the work that we do together and that you do as
a board, I do as a superintendent and just um working together moving forward. So that will be for that afternoon. We'll try to just have some light treats and then we'll have a little stretch break and uh we'll maybe see about dinner even coming in a few minutes early. Then on the 5th, starting at 5:30, we'll have Dan McConnell coming and he will be providing some information for us about just our capacity with bond and and just components associated with that. so that we'll continue to have a a clear picture about um what our needs are and what options may exist in their consideration moving forward. Um and we'll share with him the information that gets shared with you uh next Monday. We'll make sure that he sees that prior to the 5th so he'll
have a good handle. He's already engaged in conversation with Natalie. He'll have a good handle on kind of what are some of the things that we're looking at. you can help kind of paint a even some broader strokes about financially where are we with that? What might be some possible options for us? >> Great. >> Questions on any of that? And then uh for our new board members every year we meet with our school staffs and we used to bundle all this within a couple of weeks and it got a little crazy. So we try to spread it out. So, we started a little bit earlier second semester, but by spring break, we've been able to meet with just about everyone. And we typically have a couple of overarching questions that we ask principles and
staff to contemplate prior to us coming so that we can each receive like a one pager or front to back of just high level think about plus delta and culture kind of that three four questions like that in this rich discussion and that informs it's helpful for myself and my team to receive that information along with all of you that informs feedback back back to me as the superintendent and to our team and just for future discussion of do we see some things that we need to adjust or work back with that particular principal and that campus. So those are kind of sprinkled through the spring and of course as we get further into spring semester you'll start to see a few more obligation kinds of meeting times and some of those are quite frankly
just because we have a lot of events as we move toward second semester. So, um, yeah, the the schedule when we get to May is end of April, beginning of May, end of May. It's pretty basic. >> All right. Um, before we adjourn, um, to get back to the attributes of a graduate, um, we will have just two board members participate. That's typically how we do that. And um since we had Michael and Betsy participate in the mission, vision and values and um I was hoping that I could have Cara work with me on the attributes of the graduate if the rest of the board is amenable to that. >> Sure. Absolutely. >> All right. Great. All right. Um that's it. >> We are everybody. start.
