Good morning, Laura. >> Good morning. >> As far as you heard, um, Carol Green Street would not be joining, right? Because she she hasn't said anything about whether her tour at the Pentagon was done and she could join. I haven't >> Yeah, I haven't heard anything from her. >> Okay. I figured we could just note where she is and while why she's not in attendance. Keegan will probably do that. >> Yeah, sounds good. >> So, thank you. Hey, Cassidy. Can you guys hear me? >> Okay. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> Sorry, my audio was not connected when I first joined. >> [clears throat] >> Hello everyone. >> Good morning. All right. Uh let's uh call the meeting to order then. Roll call. >> Barkley >> here. >> Gilgness >> here. >> Gordon >> here. >> And
I'll just speak to that Vice President Carol Green Street is in Washington DC and unable to join this special meeting today. It's an excused absence. [snorts] >> All right. Um, so we have a pretty short agenda, but we do need to approve it. So, do I have a motion to approve the agenda? >> So, move. >> Second. >> All right. Roll call. >> Barkley. >> I. >> Gilgness. >> I. >> Gordon. >> I. >> All right. Motion passes. Um, so the only item on our agenda today is the resolution to declare a board director vacancy. I'm just pulling it up so I can read it correctly. All right. So, the resolution states, "Whereas McBates, director, district A at large, submitted his resignation to the board of education on January 7th, 2026. And whereas the board
of education voted to accept that resignation on January 14th, 2026. Therefore, be it resolved by the board of education of William Park School District RE2 as follows. Declares that the vacancy on the board of education for director district A at large, which has a term ending in November 2027. The board of education calls for a public notice to be placed in the Pike Peak Courier announcing said vacancy. The board of education will accept letters of application from interested parties living in the boundaries of Woodland Park School District RE2 until February January 30th, 2026. The board of ed education will hold interviews from among parties with the intent to fill the director district a vacancy by appointment within 60 days of the declared vacancy. All right. Do we have um a motion to move forward with
this or to accept it? >> Um I'll move to accept the resolution. >> Okay. Um do we want to discuss this at all? I just wanted to confirm the date that you said, King, because I think you said February and then January. So, what date is the where we're getting the applications by? >> I'm looking back through it. Um, until January 30th. >> Okay. I thought that's what we talked about, but I wanted to be sure. So, okay. >> Accept letter. We will accept letters of application from interested parties until January 30th, 2026. I apologize if I misspoke. >> Okay. >> And also too, like I don't know if anybody's familiar with that process of like the receiving applications because I it's different I assume than like the superintendent hire where there's like a job
description list like qualifications listed. I I know it's quite minimal. I mean, in terms of like the criteria, right, for someone to be eligible to serve, but I'm just wondering if there's any more like do we want to have a more robust process to that end or do we just want to >> I don't know. I'm just curious like what your thoughts are on the process. >> So, I believe legally, right, they need to reside within school district boundaries >> and they have to be registered voter for the last 12 months. >> So, as far as legal requirements, you're correct. They are fairly minimum. Um I think >> is that a registered voter in the district or um anywhere >> Tyler County? >> Yeah. Yep. Um, so I I think as far as like more
indepth criteria, that's something we'll want to discuss and kind of in conjunction with reviewing the people that have applied. Um, I mean, as you are all aware, when we when like when you signed um up and you you had your petition signed to run for school director, the same with myself, right? there's no criteria to do that other than you know do people are are people willing to vote for you. Um so I think in in this instance um you know we can use our discretion there. I don't want to discourage anybody from applying or submitting um you know putting their name in the hat. Um but I think as a as a board we probably want to discuss that when we see the submissions that we receive. Mhm. >> Um, if you have any
in particular you wanted to call out, I'm I'm open to hearing that. I don't know if we want to put out like a job description though in this. >> Right. Yeah. I don't know. It's just so different than like any other hireer I've ever been or like hire, but you know what I mean? Like Yeah. >> So, >> yeah. I mean, um, the rules and kind of job description for a b board director are on the district website, right? That's correct. Well, after um this afternoon, I'll go ahead and post the process and the qualifications on the website and then it'll also be out in next week's um paper Pikes Peak Courier on Wednesday. >> Yeah. Um wherever you're posting that, Candace, can we also have a quick link to kind of the the job
and and duties of a board of director just so >> the GP? Mhm. I'll do a link to the GP. >> Okay. And then at least anyone who's interested will have easy access to to understanding what's required of them. >> Yeah. It's more than just understanding what's involved. Maybe less so like qualifications, but like here's what you should expect before you put in your name in the hat, >> right? >> Yeah. >> Like a lot of meetings, >> right? I [laughter] was going to say you have to have availability for all the meetings we've already set because we're not going back down that path again. [laughter] >> Exactly. Um, >> and then to repeat from last night for any new what people watching now, um, if they're interested, they would email you, Candace. >> That's
correct. And that will also be listed like the process will be listed on the website as well as in the paper on the steps to take. >> And that was from the meeting Wednesday night, just in case anyone's wondering if we had an additional meeting yesterday. We did not. That was >> Yes. Sorry. [laughter] They're coming in hot and fast, though. Um, >> okay, great. Do we have any additional discussion then? I think we've got a pretty good process and and then we'll just see who who applies and um have conversation around that at that point. >> Just want to be clear on the what do you want what are your expectations, Keegan, on the process of reviewing? Are we going to review them as they come in? Are we going to put them somewhere
and then review them together? I don't know. Just want to be clear about the next step. >> Um, yeah, that's a good question. Candace, are we able to set up maybe a um like Google Doc folder um with all of the people who have applied so we can kind of review them as they come in? And then did we set did one of our meetings that we set was that for reviewing this or did we not set that yet? I can't remember. I feel like we talked about it on the same night as the >> No, maybe not. Review of applications for the superintendent role on February 4th. Does that sound accurate? >> I think we did discuss that being the time. >> Okay. Yeah. >> And I think that's why we set the the
deadline later, right? January 30th because we had that plan in mind, >> right? >> So, I think that's the goal. So, we would like applications could come into that folder all the way through January 30th and then we'd have a few days to review them and then we can discuss at the 4th. Does that sound right? Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And we can we can have um hard copies of of applications during that meeting as well. [clears throat] um if we feel that's necessary, Candace will confirm that with you at that point, but um that'll that could certainly be available. So, we have I like looking at physical documents when I'm reading things. >> Yeah. Thanks, Cassidy, for talking through those things. >> Sure thing. All right. >> All right. So, do we
still need a vote? >> We do. Yeah. If we're [laughter] if we're good with discussion, then we'll just do a roll call. Anything else, though, before I call for that? >> Um, actually, one last quick thing. If we, for whatever reason, nobody applies and we need to do additional outreach or whatever. >> Um, do we have any kind of procedure around that? I don't expect that will be the case quite honestly, but like I just want to be clear like I don't know. I've seen like advertisements or postings in the paper or whatever from Creek and I just want to know like how are we public publicizing this so that we do get a wide reach in the community. >> Yeah. So the announcement from today's um resolution will be in the newspaper. Um so
you know we'll get that in. It'll be in before today's deadline and so it'll be in next Wednesday's paper which is usually available online earlier than that as well. Um >> yeah. Uhhuh. So, so it'll be there. Um, obviously we have had two meetings now with discussion around it. Um, we can always ask Lindsay if she's able to to put up like a a Facebook post about it as well if we feel we're not getting the responses we need. I I think maybe we hold off on that just yet, not add a task to to Lindsay's plate unless we need to. Unless unless anyone has objections to that. I'm just thinking if if we get like six tomorrow. Anyway, you know, >> I would ask Lindsay that question if she feels like she could get
something out. I honestly think the more eyes on it, the better, but it depends. I don't want to add to her workload either, unnecessarily. Miss, are you okay with checking with her and just seeing, you know, if she's got the time to to do that? I don't It may just be the same thing that's going It may not be any extra work except for to post it to the website if we use the same language that's being sent to the courier. Anyway, >> yes, I I think she could probably do it. Um, and we would just Yeah. put that link in there >> to take people directly to the website with the process. >> Okay. Then if she's okay with that and you know that doesn't create undue burden for today, maybe we can just
get that done as well. >> Okay, we can do that. >> All right, >> I'm going to call for real call then. >> Barkley, >> I >> Gilgness I Gordon >> I passes. All right, then we need to move back to uh adjourning the meeting. So everyone, do we have a motion to to adjurnn this special meeting? >> Motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Roll call. >> Berkeley. >> I >> feel goodness. >> I >> Gordon >> I. >> Motion carries. Meeting is adjourned. Thank you all. >> Thank you. Have a good rest of your day. Happy Friday, everyone. >> Happy day weekend. >> Yeah.
