Okay, let's stand for the pledge of allegiance. Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Mr. Rus, I need to read a quick statement if I may. >> Sure. The New Jersey open public meetings law was enacted to ensure the rights of the public but advanced notice of and to attend the meeting of public bodies which any business affecting their interests discussed or acted upon. The point that the provision of the act notice of this meeting be published by having the daytime in place thereof posted in the boards of educ boards of education and the office of school number three, four, five, and six and the high school on September 17, 2025.
and notice referred to reporters of the record September 17, 2025. This is an official meeting like to take the role if I may. Mr. Frankfus, >> sure. >> Mrs. Abru >> here. >> Mr. Capano >> here. >> Mrs. Fredo >> here. >> Mr. Garcia >> here. >> Mr. Nrew >> here. >> Dr. Ponttoiano >> here. >> Mr. Rancourt. >> Mr. Russo. >> Tervakia >> here. >> And Mr. Nuzi. Okay. Mr. All right. Thank you, Mr. Alano. Thank you, Board of Education, Mrs. Calibies, uh, for attending tonight's board of education meeting. We have quite a crowd here tonight, uh, which is great to see. Um, before we get started with the superintendent report, assistant superintendent report, and the agenda, uh, I would like to introduce our ESL supervisor, Mrs. Stephanie Brennan. Um, she has been working
very closely with Bergen Community College and a lot of our students. um and trying to get them as many college credits as we can. So, I know she has a couple visitors here that she would like to introduce as well. So, I'm going to turn it over to her. >> Thank you. >> Hi everyone. Um I'm Stephanie Brennan. I'm the ESOL supervisor in the Kai Park School District. Um I welcome here um Laura Madira. She is the director of college readiness program in Burton Community College. And also who is here with us is Susanna Lens Sangan Sabangan um the professor who worked with our students um personally. Now I want to tell you a little bit about this program. Um it's between it's us, you know, we we teamed up with Bergen Community College um
to provide our multilingual learners um with a supportive college prep experience. Um this is we've done it for two years now. Um through this dual enrollment summer program, students strengthened their academic and language foundations while gaining early exposure to college expectations. The program is funded by the college readiness now grant through the New Jersey state legislature and the office of the secretary of higher education making this program possible by covering tuition, textbooks and student supports. Some of the program details um so the the funding covered two summers two summer sessions. The first summer session started miday um and lasted till the end of June which was not easy for the students because they were still in you know in school. Some of the um graduating seniors had all their like senior activities to do. So
it was a lot. It was a lot. They had prom. They had so much going on and they really put in the effort to never miss class unless like they absolutely had to. I mean for prom they missed it for prom. Um during that summer session, it was all online uh with live instruction. They attended from Monday through Thursday, so 4 days a week from 6 to uh 8:00 p.m. And they attended two classes. It was success 101 and public speaking. For summer session 2, that began in the beginning of July and ran through the middle of August. That was all in person. The first year it was at the Pamis campus. Last year it this past summer it was at the Lynhurst campus. It was also four days a week, but it was a
different schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. where they took grammar, reading, writing, and some skill building workshops. Transportation thankfully was provided by Lipside Park. We were so grateful because without that the students would have not been able to go. Thank you because you also helped. >> Um we did set up so we did an audit of all of the students as a team. We looked at each student to see this was a new program so we wanted to make sure that we had the students that would fit and would also um put in as much effort and were ready for it. Uh some of the program criteria was uh the WEDA access score had to be above a three. They did take an ESL acupplacer provided by uh Bergen Community College. Um they had
to be placed in level two or three. We looked at 10th and 12th graders, so the rising junior and graduating seniors. And we made sure that they were above 16 or 16 and older. and I'm going to pass it on to Laura. So, thank you again for having us today. Um, as Stephanie mentioned, my name is Laura Madera. I'm the director for our early college and college readiness programs. So, the CAT program I have worked with uh along Miss Sweener on that and we're so excited every year to celebrate Cliffside students earning their associate degree at the same time or a little bit before they graduate from high school. um getting a little ahead of myself, but one of the outcomes from the program last year is one of the students that participated in the
program was then invited to join PAD and that's not something that we thought would be an option for ML students. Um but this opened up dual enrollment pathways and we were really excited to have the student join us and the students doing so well in the program. Um so how it starts the process which we're in right now to get students enrolled for next summer. So typically we collaborate very closely with Miss Brennan and any colleagues at the school to make sure that we provide an information session and do outreach to students and families. So that's something that Stephanie would dedicate long hours to making sure that any student that might be eligible knows about the opportunity, understands what the requirements are. And then that's when we invite the families in. We speak to them
about the program. So last year came into the cafeteria, had some really nice dinner. Um and then spoke to families about >> Donian, right? >> Yes. >> Had some great dinner. We're always treated well when we come. Um and then spoke to families about what the commitment here was cuz we always tell students it's free of cost because you're not paying but there is a cost and that is your utmost commitment and dedication. The students through the program do earn college level um credit for an elective and so we tell them these grades matter. Um, so we want to make sure that you know what you're getting into, but you have support um, every way, every step along the way. So once the students confirm that they understand and they want to move forward, they
do an application, they do placement testing, they have a college adviser, we assist with the registration of the courses for the program, which as Stephanie mentioned are ESL college courses. So what would happen is student students in the room today, right, would have graduated um from school and then if they attempted to enroll at BCC would have taken an ESL acupplacer depending on their level of placement would have taken anywhere from one semester to four semesters of college ESL before they started intro to business, English composition, those type of courses. So through the participation in this program in the summer, students have been able to cut out either college ASL completely, which is the goal. So we had some students that completed our level three, which is our last level. They're invited back this next
summer if they want to explore some introductory college level courses. We have some students here that did level two. And so we're inviting them back this summer to do level three. They enroll in their classes and they don't need to worry about ESL again. they can start like any other student would with a full-time course load of courses that count toward their degree and aren't extra. So, we do the registration, we make sure we have a regist um an orientation for them and then they begin classes all throughout the summer. They do have an advisor um and then they also work with a peer mentor and a peer tutor. So, some of the soft skills and development workshops that they learned is LinkedIn. Do you remember LinkedIn? I got quite a few invites on LinkedIn.
They learned about the importance of it. They all created profiles. We did um some vision board exercises for the students, their success in their uh student reflections at the end of the summer. They talked about growth mindset and time management, personal responsibility, all the things that they learned um through that course and then just raved about their instructors and how much they realize now that grammar and reading and writing was important for them and their their future. Um so we definitely love to mention some of those outcomes. As I mentioned, one of the outcomes last summer was a student getting inducted into the CAD program. Um Cindy's here today and Cindy is one of the students where at first we thought ah Cindy might be too young for the program but with the support of
Miss Brennan um we knew we believe she believed that she was ready. So we invited Cindy to participate and she actually took the equivalent of 12th grade English. So that's a student that earned six college credits, didn't need to do ESL, and is now recommended at the district for CAD when the time comes in March when those applications open up. So, um, we're excited because we thought we were starting with something very simple, which was just help students get ahead and not have to worry about college ESL. And what we've learned along the way is that we've opened a lot of pathways and doors for them that they didn't think were going to be an option for them. And to us, that's invaluable. And I do want to say that Burton Community College values the
support and the partnership. We've been longtime partners through dual enrollment. Um, and we're excited to continue to expand our partnership. So, I'll I'll skip through in the in the uh packet. You would have seen some photos of students in their conversation groups. We had them go to our English language tutoring center in addition to study halls that we supervised. And then um last summer students we invited to the college for our college ESL completion ceremony which is hosted by the college ESL department for the students that are here today. Anyone that also finished the program will be invited back to participate. And then finally, I won't read them all, but you do have a copy of this, so you can take your time with the testimonials. What I did was I took uh some excerpts
from the final student reflection that we asked them to submit. Um we wanted to have for our own reporting purposes some student samples um that were more so narrative, right? Anecdotes of what they believe they got out of it. They all did well, right? We know they passed their classes. because they all moved on to the next level. Your graduating seniors that had intentions of apply of attending VCC after graduation got advised. They got registered for their schedules and we assisted with making sure NJ fans, HISA, FAA were all sorted for them. Um, one of the students didn't know about EOF the equal um opportunity fund and so we connected them with the EOF office because they were eligible and they didn't know. So, it's very beneficial for graduating seniors because then they get that
transition support. But for your underclassmen who are continuing in high school the following year, now they're asking for dual enrollment. Now they're asking for AP, and they're actually eligible for it. So, it's something we're excited about. What stood out um to us about what you all wrote in the testimonials were growth mindset, personal responsibility, um feeling like many of them said we thought it might have been boring. I we were a little nervous about signing up for coursework in the summer, but 100% of students would have done it again. And so they believe that not only did they grow academically, but they grew as individuals and have a clearer picture of what might be possible for them after they graduated. So again, thank you for your time. Um I do want to introduce now um
one of our professors and coordinators in the college ESL program and that's um Miss Susanna Lansing Santan. Thank you very much. Thank you again for having us. Um and once again my name is Dr. Susanna Lansen. I am the ESL I'm one of the faculty in the ESL program and I also the foundations coordinator program. I just wanted to give you a brief background of how we started with this program. So when I started my collaboration with the high schools in Bergen County, my initial goal was just to to give the students some kind of um college experience. So I started to bring the students from different uh Bergen County high schools to Bergen just to show them the college and then we presented some information to them regarding the ESL program and some academic
information. But then I I envisioned a real life college experience, not just for them to just tour the college. So my my goal was to actually bring the high school students into the classroom and have them experience what it is to take an ESL college class with ESL professors. And so that was how the Bergen Prep College readiness program or now program was born and came to fruition. I'm truly grateful to our college and of course to Miss Laura Madera, you know, for supporting this vision. She's a true miracle worker. She made everything possible. Um, I have some of my students here, Yousef, Joy, and oh, there's Carlos and Jennifer. See, I still remember their names. You know, they're part of the second cohort. We also had the first cohort which was really successful. And
these students came to class regularly, participated well. Correct. And they did all the work we assigned. They were very hardworking, really motivated. You know, we were very happy. And not just myself, but all the faculty that they had, they told me to let you know that they had nothing but praises and wonderful things about wonderful words about these students. You know, they loved you and they're really looking forward to the new group of students that we're going to have. this coming uh summer, right? But Laura and I are truly grateful to Miss Stephanie Brandon, to the Cliffside Park High School, and to the board of education for giving us this wonderful opportunity of teaching your students, bringing them into the ESL classroom. Thank you so so much. Thank you. And I think at this point
we would like to present some certificates. Okay, we have Joy the Pontes Vieta. Congratulations. [Music] >> They always bend down when they >> Cindy Ouna. Thank you. Ysef Ramadan. [Applause] Congratulations, >> Adriana. Oh, sorry. >> Adriana Gracia. That's a tough one. Congratulations, >> Carlos Kishki Natun. >> Carlos is now taking ESL classes at Bergen, right? Congratulations from speech one to speech three. >> Jennifer Gicha Jacqueline Kino Mendes. She was unable to come in, but her father is accepting that she took her. >> Can I give you a hug and then you can hug your >> And we have a few students who were unable to join us. Um, Maria Orurala, Luis David Luhan Machado, Marian Gomez, Haiti Argumed, and Christopher Elias Rickyak. Great job everybody. >> Thank you very much. >> You're not going to
hug the board of ed. >> Thank you. Thank you Stephanie uh for organizing and to our visitors uh for coming tonight. Um just one piece of advice to um all the award recipients tonight. One thing that will never be taken from you is education. So by having you go the extra mile, having you go to school in the summer by choice says a lot about who you are. Um, and for the parents here, you've done a fantastic job raising your kids and hopefully we can uh we can hear about all the successes that you have uh with your college graduation. So, congratulations. Um, I know this is just the first step of many uh in your bright future. Um, so if you guys do want to leave at this time, um, feel free to do
so. Um, I don't know if it's something that you want to stick around for. um uh board of education meeting, you're happy to do so, but please don't feel um don't feel rude stepping out um if you guys would like to go. Okay. >> Pictures. >> Sure. >> Thank you all. Uh Mr. Alano, did you want to Sure. Sure. Yeah. of the meeting. As I stated to the board, we got just a little bit different protocol for this meeting. We'll get a vote on four resolutions that are on pages 17 through 20. Resolutions 29 through 1332. >> If I can interject. Sure. I want to ask the board that uh we table those uh resolutions. I know the transportation committee did an extensive uh great review. Uh I think this uh uh should merit some
further uh conversation maybe in another uh work session uh at possibly our our our December meeting. So I'd like to make a motion to uh table those resolutions this evening. Even resolution number 30. Um resolution number 30 like once a uh the salt truck again from from the what I've heard from the transportation committee that one can be decommissioned. Uh that's my opinion but I don't know if we want to have further uh dialogue. So Lou I would recommend 29 31 32 to be removed. We're only going to vote on number 30. So we're going to table. So I understand. >> Yes. >> It's just to have a little bit more further dialogue to make make sure that uh everything runs smoothly through operation. But I I do concur with uh board president Arabakia that
we can keep uh resolution number 30 on the docket this evening to you know retire that >> that's the soldier. >> Yes. Thus, we're going to table resolution 29, 31, and 32. Yes. >> Do we have to vote the table? >> Yes. >> I just want to make sure we know. >> I made a motion. If we have a second, you made a motion. We need a second and then we have to go just do the table. >> Correct. >> Yeah. just I'm not getting my pages. >> Okay. So essentially we're going to vote on which was just first and seconded resolutions and 32. Is that confirmed? Right. >> Yes. >> Okay. So we're going to vote on that now. Okay. Mrs. Abru. >> So yes, >> this is the table. Correct. >> Correct. >>
This is the table. This is the table. Resolutions 29, 31, and 32. That's pages 17, 19, and 20. Mrs. Abru, yes. >> Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't I'm sorry, Joe. I didn't hear you. That's okay. Sorry about that. Miss Mr. Capano. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Fto. >> Yes. >> Mr. Garcia. >> Yes. >> Mr. Nadru. >> Yes. >> Dr. Pontiano. >> Yes. Uh, Mr. Tvakia. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, resolutions 293132 are tabled. >> Mr. Rinfus, want to go on to a regular agenda? >> Sure. Thank you. Um, just a quick report of a couple things that have been going on in the district. Um, we had our field test completed last week for the NJSLA and NJ GPA. So, a big thank you to our building principles and, uh, most importantly, Mr. Satisano for
overseeing that um and uh just getting the district prepared for the uh official uh state test in the spring. Um we also have report cards coming out later this week for our kindergarten through fifth grade students. The 6th through 12th grade students were available to parents on the parent portal last week. Uh so please make sure uh you're checking your portal so you can see um how your students are doing, how your how your uh children are doing. >> Excuse me. >> Yep. >> We also have the new web pages up. >> Yes, that >> the new website is up and running. Um this is um ADA compliant. This was recommended by um the QAC committee from last year. Um it has a cleaner look, a fresher look. Um Mr. Savastano along with the other
members of the IT department have been working tirelessly on getting this website up and running. So, a big thank you to them for doing so. Um, we are going to be updating it as we get further along in the school year. We are listening to feedback from building administrators, teachers, parents, students, um, and making those updates as quickly as we can. Uh, with this new update to the website, we will also be having an updated communication system to parents. This is now going to allow us as a district to get our message out to the community in a more efficient way. We will be able to do it through text messages, phone calls, emails, and any other type of blast that is available. Um, with the old system that we had, it was a little
dated and as we may have seen from uh delay openings in prior years or school closings in prior years, some of us may have received a phone call where others received a text message. So hopefully with this new system, it's a lot more uniform and everyone is receiving the same line of communication at the same time. Um, but yes, we do have the updated website. It looks great. Um, but we are open to any recommendations that people may have. Um, which is great to see. We do have a couple or we did have a couple uh facilities projects happening over the long weekend. Um, our school 5 building is getting a new floor in its multi-purpose room. That project should be wrapped up this week. Uh, the progress that we've seen so far looks amazing,
looks beautiful. Um, so we're we're really anticipating seeing that finished product hopefully uh come at the end of the week this week. Overall, uh, the progress that's been made looks looks amazing. Uh, we had another big project over at the high school. The lobby is looking beautiful. Um, I see some thumbs up from our high school uh, representatives here this evening that we'll be hearing from a little bit later on. Uh, but the lobby, you walk into it now and it has a life. that has a heartbeat and energy. Um there's motivational quotes on the wall. We have um lettering and signage that was previously just covered in white walls. So um it looks amazing. Looking forward to hearing the feedback from some of our students. We also had an opening placed in the cafeteria
really opening up the space uh previous space in the uh high school cafeteria area that was dedicated to a faculty space, faculty um eating area and ordering area is now for the students. So there's another point of service, point of sale for the students. So they're able to um purchase their food and purchase their lunch from a different portion of the cafeteria. So, the point of this is to open up that space um and give students a choice and an opportunity to use different lines throughout that cafeteria area. So, um the jobs have been going very well. Um and we're proud to see the buildings um looking in the in the way that they are right now. Um I guess I will turn it over to our assistant superintendent, Mrs. Calibies, for a report on
curriculum. >> So, good evening everyone. Um what I would like to inform the public and especially the parents is that um our title one program and our ESL programs are you know fully staffed and all of our assessments are complete and um the students have been selected to um for these programs and you know they they attend group and daily um they attend group and daily lessons with their teachers and these students um we are now a schoolwide title one district. So as a result of it um our title one teachers which we which are really our reading interventionists and our math uh math instructors as well they are with all the assessments they did a deep dive into our renaissance platform and the real purpose of it is so that we can um best
serve our students and accommodate anything any kind of learning gaps um that they might have. With that being said, um we also had grade level meetings um for our kindergarten through three uh staff uh including special ed and our ML population too. Um, and I want to give a huge shout out to our supervisors, Miss Nicole Row and uh, Yahara Canales and and Jennifer Netto because they had to um, really um, take the kindergarten through third grade and um, there was something called Lear. It's a learning equity and academic recovery um program from the New Jersey Department of Education and we are uh requested that all kindergarten through third grade students be assessed and then um create uh data and action plans for these students according to their levels. And I'm proud to announce that
um you know that was successfully done and submitted. So, our supervisors and our teachers are working tirelessly and we really really uh appreciate that. One of the other um shout outs I want to give is for the teachers that are working in the co-teer academy. It's not easy to teach with another teacher in the classroom, but through the assistance of our supervisors, they are working with them um with different uh co-eing models. I'm sure some of our students at the high school realize that they have, you know, sometimes uh their general ed teacher and then uh another teacher in the in the classroom that's supporting students for, you know, with their accommodations and their modifications and that is working out. So, we really appreciate that. Um, and that's I I believe that's I believe that's
it. Thank you. Are there any committee reports? >> I have one. Okay. >> The uh policy committee met and we discussed three major topics. One was the ampare program basically at the K8 level. Um we currently have it. We used to have a grant for it several years back and we explored the possibility of either outsourcing the program totally or bringing it inhouse and there's a strong possibility that we will bring it inhouse and uh actually make it better. We want to always keep improving. So that's one thing we discussed. The second thing we discussed was athletics and we believe there will be a policy recommendation around athletics uh coming soon. And the third thing and and I asked the board to consider resolution number 33 is creating or advocating for the creation of a
special education reserve account so that we can put money aside uh in the event that we have unexpected expenses in the area of special education. This is not something that's currently allowed. And if the cliffside board votes uh in the affirmative this evening, then we can bring that to New Jersey school boards and ask them to advocate at the state level for a policy around a special education reserve account. So I think that it was a very productive meeting and I thank all of you who attended. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> This is on resolution 21. Can we adopt that tonight or not? >> Which one? >> Page 21. Uh page B 21 resolution 21 to review and discuss. Do we adopt that tonight or no? >> No. >> Okay. Now we have to
wait on the exact wording of it. >> Okay. Yes. >> We're very we're very close. >> You want to know that? >> Yeah. Very close. >> Just for discussion >> and it's going to take two meetings because it has to have a first reading and a second reading. >> Okay. So even though it's on to discuss and that is the policy that we have extensive discussions around because we want to absolutely be fair to our students and our athletes. Um but then we would have to get the wording and then we'll >> first Yes. >> And then we need to have a second reading of it before it's fully adopted. >> Thank you. >> Once the policy is uh formed if you can just share it with the entire board. >> Sure. >> Y >>
any other committee reports? Okay. I just want to go through a couple of the agenda items. Just starting on page two under personnel. Um Renee Arp received HIV training. Um just as a reminder, she is our district HIV coordinator. She held an HIV night, uh parent information night last week that was uh very successful, uh very thorough. Um, and just as a reminder to um any parents, if you do have any questions about harassment, intimidation, and bullying in uh your child's school, every one of our schools has an anti-bullying specialist. So, please feel free to reach out to them if you do have any questions um about that. On page three, we are approving hopefully a few more teachers for our after school program. after school has open enrollment. So, if there are any families
that are still in need of afterare for their kids, please feel free uh to reach out to your child's principal um to get more information about the after school program in all of our elementary schools. If you jump to page nine, page pages 8 9 10, we're starting to approve a lot more uh field trips, which is great to see. uh feels like you know five years ago that you know field trips were never going to happen um and they were put on pause. So it's great seeing this section of the agenda filled up. There are a couple uh field trips I do want to point out. One of which is Liftown. You see that on the agenda quite a few times. Um Lifettown is a place I believe in Livingston, New Jersey and it's
almost like a mini town or campus. So what we do is we will send um some of our self-contained specialed classes to Lifettown so they can experience realworld scenarios in real world places giving them those social skills. Um so we can better prepare them for life in the real world. So when you go when our students go to Lifettown, they have restaurants there, they have movie theaters there, barber shops there, all of these different um areas that they are going to encounter in their lives. And this location gives them an opportunity to practice how do you order at a restaurant? Um how do I um you know go about telling the barber how I would like my haircut? So, it's a great opportunity for a lot of our students and that's why you see Lifetime
on the agenda um as many times as you do. Um, one other place is the Rise Above Bakery for our middle school and high school students. This is through the Wonder Girls program that we're lucky enough to be rolling out for another year. Wonder Girls is a program that's supposed to give a lot of our female students the opportunity to um feel empowered and give them this sense of self self uh worth. Um so often times the uh students in this club will go out to local businesses or they will have speakers come into the school and uh for this opportunity they will be going to a bakery um to see the ins and outs of how that works. If you turn to page 12, um page 12 is a resolution that takes a look
at our pea program, the preschool um education aid that we are receiving. As you know, we are looking to um educate as many three and fouryear-olds as possible. Unfortunately, like everything else, space is an issue. So, we are doing our best and hopefully expanding that program. So, big thank you to Mrs. Martini uh the school 5 principal um who houses our three and four year olds as well as Mr. Alvan who does a tremendous amount of work when it comes to um knowing the ins and outs of the grant of the program what's allowed and what's not allowed. If you turn to page 14, page 14 um takes a look at our seal of biiteracy. This is a program that students in our district have been working on and working with for a number of
years now. So once again, we will be participating in this program. Students have an opportunity to earn a seal of uh biliteracy in um a few different ways. And if they do obtain one of those requirements, it does give them a competitive advantage when it comes to college acceptance, um, job recruiting, um, career opportunities. So, it's just a nice thing that a lot of our students can put on their resume as soon as they graduate, um, from the school district. And last but not least is page 16 which takes a look at the school sorry the district uh safety and security plan. A lot of administrators, building principles, vice principles uh Mrs. Martini who's our district uh safety coordinator um should be um you know given a pat on the back for the work that
they've done with this uh with this plan that needs to be submitted every year. So uh big thank you to everyone involved in that. And I think that does it for the agenda portion. Mr. Alfano, I'm not sure if there's anything that you want to add on the finance end. >> Couple of quick items. Mr. Ry, um, we're deep in our 2627 preparation, the 2627 budget. Uh, we've met with our buildings and grounds committee. We've met with our security committee among other committees, transportation committee uh developing how we're going to hopefully spending our capital money in uh to the spring and summer of 2026. So that is a work in progress which we need to move on quickly simply for the reason if we're going to bid on any of these projects really needs to
be buttoned up by December. If you take your eyes to page 28, which I believe is the last page, resolution 51, uh we've been doing a great amount of uh information technology work with the help of Frank Satano and some of our subcontractors. And you see this resolution, SHI, they're a partner. They partnered with uh Mr. Savastano and some of our subcontractors in regard to we call it construction project components, hardware, server upgrade, server replacements, camp upgrades, counter replace inf infrastructure enhancements and wiring enhancements, coordination. They coordinate with our info technology group and our subcontractor. So, uh, this SHI really it's Frank Savastano and Johnny Dominguez co-managing them. Um they are a great resource and this is probably one of many projects hopefully we'll be engaging with them in the future. Um they have a
uh a state contract which always helps to expedite programs. So um we're off and running in regard to enhancing our security and our information technology platforms. >> Yeah. Then through the Bergen County Cooperative. >> Yeah. >> So is that is not solutions architect? Am I correct? >> Correct. >> Your equipment >> that's not on here. >> Okay. Before we uh officially wrap it up, um hoping we could get a little positivity in here from our uh high school student council uh that's here tonight. So, I don't know if you have one representative or a group um who wants to maybe share a little bit about what's going on over at the high school. >> Um is it okay if we say we speak? >> Sure. >> Cuz we all want to
say like our little heart. >> Sure. Um, we had like very great things happening like in our building, even outside of our building. Um, I want to start off by of course saying thank you for having us once again. And as Cliffside Park High School student council, we're excited to share some things, some positive things happening in our building. Recently, well, most recently, we had the privilege of welcoming Jersey Joe to our school. Many of our students recognized him as a popular Tik Tok influencer. But what impacted most us most was his message. He spoke about standing up against cyber bullying and never giving up on your dreams. Hearing that from someone we as students admire truly motivated us to stay and believe in our potential. His visit reminded us how meaningful it can be
when influencers and public figures take time to inspire students and we hope to see more opportunities like this in the future. >> So, who's going to dance? >> Jersey was it was great. We were all up there dancing. It was awesome honestly. >> And do you want to talk about the >> um we also recently participated in the Rea Rebecca Verra Foundation symposium um which focused on promoting driving safe safety towards driving safely towards for seniors. Um we were beyond grateful to have the Bura family work with us and educate our students on the importance of staying safe on the road. Their dedication to this mission made a lasting impact on all of us and we're very excited also for your project graduation which um we will all be participating participating our seniors also since
you're bringing that up. Mrs. Fredo and Mrs. They are on the committee. >> Mrs. Fredo actually started graduation. >> It is not the last one. It's the they are retiring dedicated 20 years of their life. >> That's amazing. We also wanted to um do something for them for graduation. I know is thinking really ahead, but we wanted to have like a little um like have her like seat open and just something very beautiful. Have like flowers on her seat. We want to do something really big for the 20th anniversary if that >> is wonderful. I don't I I can't I'm very good friends with them. I don't know. That's a very difficult time for them still to this day. So, they really haven't attended our graduations in a very long time. They get very emotional,
especially Dr. Maria. I mean even now just speaking to him you know he >> I'm sure he spoke you know and um it's like it happened yesterday for them you know so I I can talk to her you know it's it's early you know but I will mention it to them that the kids would really love you guys to attend and I'll let you guys know you know when it gets closer you know how she feels about that but thank Okay. With Thanksgiving approaches, um we also have several plans to give back to those in need and support our community. As student leaders, we want to make sure that we're not only improving our school environment, but also helping those around us to have like an extra support to the holiday season. And we're thinking
of doing some I guess like for holidays in general like Thanksgiving is for food and then Christmas we have like clothing drives donations and even like toys for kids and that would be really nice and that's what we're like for the next few months. We love giving back to our community and then we would like to thank you for your time. Um so far we feel like you guys have welcomed us perfectly into this. We really enjoy being here giving our feedback to every one of you guys and yeah, so for this holidays, we're going to work hard to keep the spirit going in the high school and uh we hope to give you more info on what's on what's coming up. But thank you very much for having us here. >> Thank you guys.
>> Thank you. >> I'll make a motion to accept the agenda. Yeah, we did that. Close the meeting >> to uh adjurnn. >> Okay. Yeah, the lieutenant and can I have a second? >> Second. >> Thank you.
