003staff orientation meeting tonight approximately 38 new staff members in this room I congratulate and thank Mrs Calabrese our director of the curriculum instruction Al and his entire technology team on the teachers and supervisors who came to meet and greet and support our new staff it was a very successful day they'll be back here again tomorrow it was a busy day and we all agreed it was a good day for Cliffside Park to welcome these 38 new staff members um tonight's wood resolution packet you'll you have found 53 Personnel resolutions I thank you for your support throughout the month of July and August and helping us get these personnel resolutions in front of you and we're getting ready to become a reality tough Market out there and again I thank and congratulate the professional staff and
004everyone who contributed to hiring these individuals you'll see tonight within the Personnel resolutions one for professional development I believe we've hired Seven Days Seven substitute teachers in there for you to approve a substitute nurse seven permanent substitute teachers a speech language pathologist High School science teacher for elementary teachers two language learning disability teachers seven AIDS three lunch AIDS three bus drivers five transfers five leaves of absence five resignations several co-curricular charts we put in front of you and there's one retirement resolution that Dr pantaliano is going to speak to when I turned the meeting back to her so again it was a very busy summer very productive summer and hopefully today some orientation represented a good start to uh transitioning back to our school year any questions thank you thank you if we look at
005number 37 on the agenda it's a resolution to accept the retirement grade five classroom and I just wanted to speak to that retirement because Miss pooey was a teacher to my daughter more sure teacher of many and I hope that she had the opportunity to see this because Miss Cooney if you're watching this I brought Templeton with me uh Templeton was a prize that you say about to many of your students for the good work that they did in their classroom and I'm sure like my daughter many of his students still have them and treasure them to this day a heartfelt thank you thank you to Mrs Cooney for all that you did for all of your students while they were in your class your class was a great returning Point especially in third grade
006where you took so many students and opened up the door of possibilities for them it was the beginning of a transformation of what students were as children what they could be as you young adults as they were their Elementary School career and I just want you to know that just as they still have Templeton in our house I'm sure many other students have Templeton in their house and I want to give you a heartfelt thank you for myself the parents of school four and the Board of Education because you truly transform the lives of children and when you touch the children you touch eternity and a thank you from us for all that you've done done I know that you didn't start your career in teaching and you moved to it as a passion project
007so thank you and we wish you the greatest of luck and happiness in your retirement thank you or any um concerns any committee reporters impossible to get the resolutions on each one of these numbers we can so that way if you have to offer to a specific resolution that's remembered people will know that we're referring to that particularly I hear what you're saying Judy and I you are correct um but the agenda slash minutes themselves on the header has the date date so it may be duplicative it may have a it may be a little runny in regard to your and it may take away from hey let's go look at resolution 37 of course it's just the 37th but on your header on every agenda on every minute that we post a website the
008first thing they see is the date and the year so so I'm just thinking that may it may be a little duplicative and add a little noise to the number so to speak but it's just a thought I've seen uh you know that system in other districts however you wanted to do it it makes a little bit more cumbersome for Virginia especially when you have 100 resolutions on one uh sheep butt but listen I can talk with uh Dr Hazel flying it just makes every reservation unique but if you hold the date they incorporated into it it's a unique number uh I'll speak with Dr Hayden whenever you really want you want to do not the data I've seen letters you know a piece of personality p15 you look at other school districts yeah they're
009within expanded yeah we want to make it uh we want to make it efficient for the person the owner who's doing the resolution also put the date on top and then with the resolution number of y a zero one resolution was zero two so that's what this is right the date on top but you know we'll go with the consensus obviously we'll go in the direction of the board but again as I said we're as gene or being the owner of the agent we're trying to make it efficient for her also but also make sure we get the information out to the board and those who look at the resolution it's easy to say hey resolution 39 August 30th 2023 resolution 39 our next meeting is September 20th it'll also have a resolution number one
010but it also right at the top the header September 20th 2023. but I'll I'll catch Dr Hayes offline and we'll we'll talk about uh what we believe we may want to enhance or ADD but we're always conscious of trying to be as efficient with the because this is a you're talking about a hundred line item agenda which we have every month and sometimes we have a line items but we'll talk about again we appreciate everyone's food it's a stop stuff thank you I know Dr patliano you were asking about any committee reports I don't know if anyone wants to update they went through heavy facilities last week's work session I don't want to be duplicative but Mr capano I know we talked a lot about what's going on a lot of things the new bathrooms
011are beautiful at the high school that was a vetoes and Son Mr Paradiso did that yeah they were absolutely beautiful I think it's going to be wonderful to bring those bathrooms back online I think um I think that'll be beneficial to us and thank you for the mirrors you're welcome so any other comments or questions I'm just going to give a quick Finance update for folks our Auditors we've provided them electronic documentation Fair matter of boxes that were not any type of payroll or anything that you would think you would want to leave the district we gave them a whole bunch of documents that were pretty benign with regard to personal information the keep them chugging along they also came in earlier in the week and they did a site visit and they went through
012a lot of the payroll stuff a lot of the purchase orders contracts a lot of the stuff that we don't want to leave the building I had a quick exit interview they're not done yet with the lead auditor who's now a partner Mr Reeves so far we're doing pretty good are we going to have zero findings I can tell you exactly My Hope Is we have the two or three that we've been having per year he said it's going pretty well and he'll be back next Tuesday and he may be back one other day and then we'll have the formal exit interview and I can get kind of an overview to the finance committee and the full board but net net right now we're looking pretty good again the business office staff is they do
013their rigor all year so we've got a pretty good track record over the last seven eight years we can always do better but right now uh Mr Reeves thinks we're doing we're in pretty good shape nothing material that you can see definitive understanding of what our Surplus is financial position and we have worked well into book 23 24. they're going to start their early order on that believe it or not looking at purchase orders because the last two meetings we've approved quite a few uh purchase orders and invoices for the new school year and as I spoke about in late October early November we'll start talking about Capital project for 24.25 listing them prioritizing what we want to assess because by then we'll have an understanding of surplus so we'll engage that process uh the
014sooner the better and that's pretty much it but I just want to take everyone's eyes to that last page of the agenda if I may please and you see what that agenda is not numbered because that agenda has to build an estate in the county we want to keep that as clean as possible that's the agenda on the stair Tower doors but one note one note week we're going to make will you read that says resolution to approve the stair Tower security project it's on page 24. it's the State Tower security door projects we got to add the word door okay so we'll have that changed online and we'll have that change in the minutes and then this will go out to the county and the state as you know we use the national cooperative
015and the same contract we use that won the open bid last year they came in at lowest but now we know there's National cooperative and they've renewed it and Cooperative it's been approved by the auditor whatever we thought it was prudent not to go through the open bid process to go through that same uh contractor finishing up the high school and is now going to engage in three School four and score six and as you know the last work session will approve the resolution for number five school so we can go to the Department of Ed the application for the Department of edit we'll also be doing stair Tower door project but I wanted to bring that to the board of detention we have a a word that we have to add into there I'll
016make everyone aware Peggy and Gia in regard to that so that's pretty much my overview does anyone have any other input or questions I have a question sure resolution number 95. it says transfer to balance from the closed High School internal accounts the high school fundraiser accounts can you be specific on what the closed High School term accounts are I don't know exactly we have we have no it's uh we have about 16 or 17 we call them sub funds and they fund each other and we transfer within based on input from uh principal pinball team because I've never heard of closed high schools when you hear internal electricity no it's not don't think of it as the general fund think of it as a quasi-student activity money that would raise by the difference exactly
