those three grades which will hopefully be completed by May in September we'll start with three additional uh grades and continue that process uh just a reminder that our budget vote is has been changed to April 25th that's Tuesday April 25th the polls are open from 2 2 8 2 to 8. um we will be sending out or I will be sending out a swift reach uh as a reminder to our parents and our students who are eligible to vote uh just a reminder to come out and support our budget but that'll be April 25th Tuesday I'd like to just remind any parents that might be watching tonight that we are currently registering new Pre-K students for September and kindergarten students for September let me just revise that our kindergarten registrations for new students is going

on this week so if there is anyone that would like to register a kindergarten student for September they can contact School Number Four our Pre-K registration for September we have dates scheduled the end of April and all that information regarding dates and medical information that will be required is posted to our website so that's for parents who have Pre-K students and new kindergarten registrations to the district I want to thank all of our staff and principals School nurses that were involved in Wellness week that we celebrated last week across the district from March 20th to the 24th pomptonian took part in uh some preparing some nutritious meals for our students and snacks and I know our nurses our guidance counselors uh arrange some activities for our students to celebrate that week so again I want

to thank everyone that was involved with that I also want to thank Mrs Pinto who's our director of special services she ran a special education parent advisory group meeting on March 22nd it was a virtual meeting this is the second one of the year she's trying to get as many parents involved as possible at these meetings and hopefully the goal is that by September of the new school year she'll have her first in-person meeting but there will be another one coming up later on this spring that's special education parent advisories group so thank Mrs Pinto for arranging that I want to congratulate Elise casano she's our supervisor of guidance at the high school Elise was a named County County County councilor of the Year this year I know I had posted some information about that

on our Instagram and I know Dr Maya also notified staff and spoke a little bit about Elise uh at one of the High School faculty meetings so congratulations to Elise for um that award this school year I also want to make mention that in your phone tonight uh Cliffside Park High School is going to hold its first entrepreneur Forum at the high school it's Wednesday April 19th uh in the high school gym at 6 PM they have arranged for a number of speakers to speak to our students and parents from many different professions across the Spectrum so there's a flyer uh in your packet tonight that will just remind you of that date and obviously and also through social media Facebook Instagram we will be publicizing it when it gets a little bit closer but

that's Wednesday April 19th and I want to thank Mrs Cassano and the entire guidance department for all the work they've been doing uh to arrange for this event at the high school okay uh I have one last thing any any questions anything that I spoke about from the board okay I just want to take this opportunity tonight this is Jim Shelley's last meeting with us tonight uh Jim decided not to uh to run but I just want to take on a personal note the opportunity to thank Jim for his many years of dedication as a board member um and even prior to that his many many years of dedication to the Cliffside Park School District I know he served as a board trustee from 2014 to 23. I hope I have those dates right close

enough if it is so I know on on behalf of the board we're very thankful Jim for everything that you've done the last few years as a board member and even more so the many years as an educator in the high school and in our district so on behalf of the board I would like to present you with uh board trustee 2014 2023 and grateful appreciation for your dedication and many years of service to the Cliffside Park school system thank you very much thank you if I could just add that uh this this position is a team position and obviously everybody who's on the board when I first came and and present we work as a team and it's really been an enjoyable experience in that sense that uh everybody works toward the good of

of the students of this District um but I realized oh a few months ago that I've been going to school since I've been five years old and uh I'm 73 now and uh the only person who I think out does me here is Mr Roman Gino uh and uh we've gone through a lot together Mr Roman Gino and I uh both as Educators when we were simply that I don't I shouldn't even say simply that when we were that and and as board members uh I'd like to thank Mr Roman Gino for inviting me to perhaps be part of the board back in the day I am thanking you for that uh what I'm not thanking you for is what whatever year it was around 1980 that was the last century that if you remember

that uh that was uh Mr Roman Gino had been the moderator of the student council and he had a fantastic group of people on that student council leading the council chasing and Wiggins I'll never forget their name and I'm sure you don't either they just they ran that thing as well as any organization I've ever seen run they were seniors and I inherited that from him because he said how about you uh take over the student council moderator I was non-tenured so you don't say no and uh so I took it over the next year and I found out all the things that chasing and weekend had done the students wanted to continue to do only there was no chasing and Wiggins to do that so uh I I did that on on a more

somber side uh I've I've gone through two pretty major historic things in this District or my time here 9 11 the horror of 9 11 and and the recent horror of covid uh two two terrible kinds of things that I hope are District never has to encounter anything like that ever again but again I think you guys as a board and hopefully me as a member have been able to uh to deal with whatever problems we've had to come up and we've done a lot of things we've gotten seniors allowed to eat outside now I thought that was a pretty big thing uh and uh and a number of other things but uh thank you very much for all all the support that you've given me and I hope I've given you all these years

[Applause] before I look at the consent agenda any committee reports message out last week Renovations a lot of good things came out of the meeting it's going to just enhance and complete the actual phase one of the gym upgrades that have been completed and this should put the icing on the cake as the the project is going out of bid now and it's ready for final touches we'll talk detail on signage Etc uh colors and all of that but it's not my end I know we are out to dig for some other projects that were over allocated correct uh yes Mr capano April 19th we have open bids for the masonry and brick project at six school and six School the rtu project also they'll be going up a bit on April 19th I was

at number three School of uh last week for 10 days my God toward his class and uh I have to say and I always emphasize this and I sound like a broken record but our buildings are Immaculate shape spotless you gotta understand these 3 200 kids going in and out of these buildings on a daily basis and that starts with the you know our superintendent to our ba to all the administrators and staff and those great custodians that we have pretty much that concludes my report thank you Mr Banner anyone else okay if not I'd like to take a moment to just go through the consent agenda before we vote on it page two um and part of Page Three as we always do we are approving reimbursement for staff members who have taken professional

development classes either virtually or outside the district and as per contract we are reimbursing them for travel and for any fees associated with registrations uh page three at the bottom we are just transferring some monies from uh grants into all local funds to pay for teacher salaries so as you know each year we are funded by the federal government for um title money uh and also uh Ida Monday money and we use that often to pay for programs and also uh teacher salary so we're just making some uh bookkeeping adjustments Pages uh four and mostly of five are just changes that we have in teacher aids uh either teacher aides that have resigned to move on to other positions or new teacher aides that we are approving and for the most part those teacher aides

are are aides that are part of our special education program uh bottom of page five uh we have a couple of uh requests for maternity leave uh fourth resolution from the bottom Christina Carbone who's a speech therapist with us has requested a a continuation of her maternity leave from March 8th through June 30th uh with the return date in September uh Janelle dabal who's a social worker with us we'll be taking a maternity leave from August through November 6th which would be her return date Michelle Maldonado kindergarten teacher at school number five will be leaving September 1st well will not be returning September 1st uh she'll be taking a maternity through December and return in January 2024 and yet Daniela Vino who's a middle school special ed teacher also extended her maternity leave through June

so they will be for the most part returning in September I just received this today on page six and uh Gia added it to the agenda that was mailed to you Ed Jones uh has submitted his retirement Ed Jones has been with us for about 20 years uh 20 to 25 years and he all during that time he's been in our industrial laws teacher in the wood shop and he's retiring effective June 30th 2023 so we wish Ed uh the best of luck page seven are HIV uh cases that are being invested or were investigated by our HIV teams in each of our buildings so if we get a bullying request as per state guidelines parents fill out the form the team that we've assembled in each building go through a thorough investigation and then

the determination is made as to whether or not it's bullying or it could be a code of conduct which is a disciplinary action this is confidential and that's why they're listed as such that's just to indicate that we did do the investigations and page eight second one down we're approving the custodial calendar for the 2023-24 school year I believe you have a copy of that calendar in your folder and as by contract they're entitled to 16 days a year so that's why there are 16 days listed on the print ad that you have buildings and ground requests from PTA and other events that are going on in the school run by the PTA or run by our staff missed our friend or anything on finance a couple of quick items you know we're engaging in

the end of the year process for 22.23 we're getting back to the board in regards to what we believe our Surplus may look like and how we're going to allocate that Mr capano we brought up the two bids that are going to be happening on April 19th six School two six school projects rtu and the brick and masonry project you brought up the vote on the budget on the 9th 25th of April and we'll be engaging in a series of capital projects which I will present a an overview to the board in May for the summer of 2023. that's pretty much it okay any questions on the consent agenda a motion to accept Okay that was Mr capano and Mr terabakia thank you I'd like to take a vote if I may Mr capano yes
